Accepting the Applied Card was the worst financial decision I have ever made. The company has cheated me from the very beginning. I have been paid over limit and late fees more times than I care to admit. Although a few of the charges were valid, most were not. I have even been double charged for the service fee when I used the on-line payment option. I have tried to contact them to dispute the charges more than once, but have had an exceptionally hard time getting a real person on the line. Instead, I find a recorded message that just keeps going in circles. I finnally called threi technical support and was able to talk to someone.

At that time I canceled my card and was told I would hear from them in two weeks. I also tried to dispute charges that were added to my account that, once again brought me overlimit and added more charges. I was told that could only be done by my sending a letter and disputing the charges by mail. If this is the only way to resolve the overcharges and the dramatic elevation of the monthly payment, the door to the poor house will even be locked to me.

Overcharges, double billing, rise in monthly payments

I applied for and was given a secured Visa card by Applied Bank. I opened the account with 300 cash deposit and was billed for an application fee and interest on that fee. I sent the payment for the application and interest fees in about 2 weeks before it was due. I also sent an extra 250 in to bring my available Secured balance to 500, because I was going on a cruise and needed a charge card on the ship. I activated the card before leaving home for the cruise.

It did not work at the airport for my luggage. Charges were pretty much denied each time I tried to use the card. The card was accepted for deposit on the ship, but when I tried to depart the ship, Applied Bank would only approve 99.75 of the 253.00 worth of charges that I accumulated on the cruise ship. Needless to say, I had to come up with the money from some other source in order to depart the ship, miles away from home.

What I want to know is if anyone has any idea how I can get cancel the account before I get in too deep. I don't owe them anything. But from what I have experienced and others as well, I don't believe that I will be able to get out of this situation, even though they owe me money, and I do not owe them. I will probably loose the 300 I have on deposit with them.

i applied for the card they sent it, i used it with them charging me a 150.00 fee. after a while of making payment they raised my limit for a 250.00 increase they charged a 100.00 fee. this was outragous. then i got charged for things that were not my charges i filled out the form i faxed it i called and tried to reason with them over the charges. i continued to pay the monthly payment then i got over limit fees and late fees charged to me. i never went over the limit and they refused to do anything about the eronious charges.

told me they would take me to arbitration which i got a letter from so i assume they did that, no they have stacked up around 850.00 worth of fees and told me i could settle for 1500.00 and the charges are at 1981.00. they want me to pay it in full. they sent me to a nco collection agency and will not reason with the charges and fees they stacked up. they are saying i am being sued.

my credit have been horribly damaged and i cant get a loan for anything. i am in good standing with all my other bills and credit cards but this has created a nightmare. i got engaged but cant get married until this is resolved because it will effect my husbands credit. it has been unbearable with the calls and harrassement.
