When I ordered service, I wanted long distance. They offered me no service rates on international calls and I saw a bill for over 10,000 dollars. I cannot afford this. I believe this is not fair at all. Something must be done.
Consumer Complaints & Reviews

When someone calls me on my cell phone (long-distance) and leaves a voicemail, Verizon charges me $.40 per voicemail call. I certainly believe that is not only unethical but very possibly, illegal.
Also when I attempt to "clean off" or delete what's in my voicemail, they charge me $.40 per call that I delete. When I requested to Verizon that I wanted the "Voicemail" feature disabled, they told me that I cannot do it until I upgrade to their desired product.

We switched to the Verizon home phone connect because of the low monthly rate. We started having issues in dialing calls. The voice would come on saying, "Welcome to Verizon. Please stay on for an operator or pay with a credit card." Mind you, all long distance is supposed to cost 19.95 a month period. My mother has the same service. She is an elderly lady who lives two doors down from me in an apartment complex, and she is dying of lung cancer. She tried to call me several times the other morning. She had fallen and laid on the floor for two hours because she could not get me on the phone. She also got the same recording, over and over again.
We are trying to cancel the lousy service and they are going to charge me and my mother an early disconnection fee of 75.00 each instead of the normal 150.00 each. I don't think we should be charged a dime because we were not informed ahead of time about the problems with this service. It's not right. My mother could have died from her fall. Thank God she was not hurt, just severely bruised. I would like something done about this. Thank you.

Verizon sent an email to my former landlady, informing me that since we switched our long distance to Vonage, they would assume that we would want to cancel all FiOs services unless they heard from us within 7 days. I tried to call them repeatedly, but was told by automatic message "Due to strike action, we are unable to take any calls at this time." Emails were not answered either. We were shut off, and a week worth of prolonged phone calls totaling to 8 1/2 hours were met with lies ("We just switched your service on now, everything is fine."), incompetence ("Your order has been repeatedly processed, we do not know why the system keeps throwing you out and we don't know how to find out."), and outright fraud (They've lost all details of our former account, which had a $400 deposit on it. They also sent a bill for $176 worth of long-distance phone calls to the phone line they switched off.) We are left with a missing $400 deposit and a fraudulent phone bill. And for over a week without internet and with the school starting, we'll now have to fight.
