TracFone Pays $50,000 for Violating Missouri's Do Not Call Law

Sandra of San Antonio TX (10/14/03):
My purse was stolen from my car w/my trac phone. I immediatly called tracfone people to turn it off. The lady told me she turned it off. Then I asked about my remaining 97 min. She said, too bad -- you lose. Anyway, 9 hours later after my purse and phone were stolen my phone has not been turned off by the trac phone ppl. and the people who stole it are answering my phone.

Bruce of Kingston NY (9/8/03):
My phone was stolen. I reported it to Tracfone who deactivated it. They told me that they could save the minutes on the phone and I could transfer them to a new phone but that I would have to wait a few weeks. I called back in a few weeks and they told me that they could do no such thing. They didn't even offer me an hour or anything to keep a customer. They lied to me. I would never buy from a company that lies again.

Damage Resulting: 274 airtime minutes that I paid for are now lost.
