Honda To Sell Hybrid For Under $20,000
Honda Drops Accord Hybrid
Feds Probe Honda Ignition Problems

It's true. We even get complaints about Honda, which some would call the world's most perfect moderately-priced car. Something Honda should be concerned about is that loyal, repeat customers are beginning to grouse that they will defect to Toyota because of reliability and warranty problems in the latest crop of Hondas.

Here a few of the more recent complaints:

Stanley of San Mateo CA (01/19/07)
I purchased 2007 Honda Accord LX recently. After I took delivery on this new vehicle, I went to the official Honda website and discovered the listed standard features on the Honda website for 2007 Accord LX doesn't match the one I purchased. I called Menlo Honda to inquired my concern. I got transfer from a sales person to the finance manager then back to the Sales manager. The sales manager named Irsan Salem told me that it is no longer Menlo Honda's concern. I need to take it up with Honda the manufacturer on the discrepancy.

I am extremely surprise on the level of service by Menlo Honda given that I brought up the concern only two days after I took delivery on the vehicle. I would expect that Menlo Honda would be much more interested to clarify with Honda the manufacturer rather than just let their future customer sort things out on their own afterward. I was also reminded by the sales manager that they will sue me for 3 times the value of the vehicle if I were stop payment on my check due to discrepancy or false advisement. That I want the standard features listed on the Honda website.

Tom of Sacramento CA (01/18/07)
My 1999 Honda Accord has less than 60,000 miles on it and the transmission failed. I searched online and discovered this is a widespread epidemic, but Honda does not issue a recall. I have been a loyal Honda customer, but am switching my allegience. If Honda does not want my future business, Toyota will. Please include me in any class-action lawsuits.

I do not have the use of my car for over a week and the bill will be over 3,000.00 for the transmission and labor costs.

Anna of Hollywood, CA January 17, 2007

Anna of Hollywood CA (01/17/07)
At 72,800 miles, the transmission in my well maintained 2001 Honda Civic LX died unexpectedly and without warning. The cost to replace it at a local chain transmition shop? 3,800.00. I was shocked. I remembered when I bought the car at a Honda dealer they asked if I wanted an extended warranty; I declined. Why should I buy an extended warranty when I'm buying a Honda? Big mistake. This was my second but unfortunately my last Honda. I am very disappointed, to say the least.

The economic consequences? I had to buy a new car when I really shouldn't have had to do so, with only 72,800 miles on my Honda! I am a single mother dependant on the car. I may have to increase my work hours or take a second part time job to be able to make the car payments. And now the insurance will increase as the car is being financed. I really didn't need this added expene at this time.

I purchased a 2001 Honda Accord New. I had to replace the transmission under warranty at 79,000 miles. Honda transmission problems. It now has 135,00 miles and needs another transmission. Recall?

Arthur of Framingham, MA January 9, 2007

Arthurof Framingham MA (01/09/07)
The Y tube in the exhaust system on my 2002 Honda Accord failed (rusted through) at the 4 1/2 year 41,000 mile point. This is not a reliable performance as I see it.

A 400.00 repair bill to replace it.
