The traction control light will not go off. ABS won't go off. Engine light wont go of. It does not want to stop. I hit the brakes and it pushes the brake pedal back up. It sounds bad. Scarry ride. I was told 4000.00 to fix just after warrenty wore off. I was also told by several people with same yr car have this issues and paid to repair and still does the same thing. There seems to be no fix for the problem and I am getting upset. I was happy to have this GM car but am living with regrets now. Is there a recall? If not then should have one, so many people have this problem and [GM] have done nothing about it. I have been trying to solve this with no help on it fro GM. What was the point of a warenty.... Jarrion of Baton Rouge, LA September 15, 2009 I went to my aunts house and I was in there for 5 minutes. I came outside watching my car burn for no reason it. The fire department put it out i didn't have the insurance to cover it i had lowest insurance they couldn't cover it. I a 2000 Chevy Impala ls with an 3.8 engine and i read on the internet that those cars burns threw oil leaks and have alot of defects art of elkin, NC September 3, 2009 I have a 2001 impala car that has just about been rebuilt this ia what has been done 2 wheel bearings 2 wheel sensors raditaior replacment low coolant sensor traction control harness both sides passlock system catliac converter cv half joint both sides now the intake mantifold gasket is going bad i bought this car used with only 6000 miles on it and there has not been a day gos bye that the dash dosnt light up with a problem gm tell me ther isnt a problem with them but get on the internet and there is page after page of problems i have allways owened chevys but i will not buy another and gm wonders why they are going under Tina of Nixa, MO August 31, 2009 I have a 2004 Chevy Impala and all I can say is this car is possessed. Granted it has 110,000 miles on it but it should still run decent. At 55,000 miles I had to replace the transmission. Car was running great until 6 months ago. My own car thought I was trying to steal it. The security passlock armed and would not allow me to start it. Called the dealership and they told me how to reset the computer, so I did. Then car would not start so I bought a new battery. Now my low coolant light comes on and temperature gauge goes in the red. I took it to a mechanic and he told me there is nothing wrong. Never smoked, was full of coolant, no leaks, nothing. They looked at me like I was stupid. It continues to do this. Today, I drove my daughter to her daycare and temp gauge and low coolant light came on and car started to lose power and was sputtering. I pulled over turned the car off and let it sit for a while. Turned it back on and the temp gauge was going haywire once again. I am scared to drive this car in fear that it might catch on fire. I am going to be out tons of money for this piece of junk. I cannot get a new vehicle due to the fact I still owe money on it and I am upside down as usual thanks to the dealerships. TIFFIANY of DALLAS, TX August 12, 2009 I own a 2005 impala and my car will not start on several occassions. It used to be 10 minutes then it would start, now it takes from 40 minutes to an hour Cindy of Wyoming, MI June 29, 2009 In Dec. 04 I purchased an Impala, 04 with 22000 miles on it.The antifreeze kept disappearing and I was told it was evaporating. Now I have driven for 40 years and this hadn't happened before and frankly, I didn't believe them.I had the car in several times (some they didn't even write up) and it wasn't solved. Finally, after the issue of trans. leak as well as 2 inches of water in the car(I had to tell them the cowling under the hood wasn't attached, a mech. friend told me that, but they should have known) I decided it was in my best interest to trade it in.My G6 has 15000 miles on it and it has been in for,1)leaking intake gasket 2)new comp. module and 3)a bent push rod. I just want a good car! Kathy of Eugene, OR June 6, 2009 We purchased a new 2008 Impala in April 2008. It has had new brakes four times within 10,000 miles. They have put on ceramic brakes twice. Of course the dealer says they cannot reproduce the sound. Guess that I am imagining it. When backing up there is a loud squeal. It is loud enough that people turn and look at the car. Yesterday I was told that General Motors said it is a common complaint and that it is a common charactoristic of this design and is worse when cold. The service notice to GM repair shops says that some brake noise is normal and differences in loading, type of driving or driving style depending on weather conditions. I drive it about 20 miles a day and use the brakes during that trip. When I drop my friend off and back out of the driveway it is just as loud. I believe that the service department is doing all it can. The service manager groans when he sees me come in and I am sure he wants me to be happy so I will go away. Everything has been covered under warranty but it still makes me unhappy that we replaced our 2000 Impala (that had no issue with) with one that sounds like a really old car needing brakes. We love the car but wonder what will happen when they no longer will do warranty work on the brakes. It is difficult for me to believe that GM knows about the defect and does nothing to fix it. oh wait, that maybe why they are going bankrupt. Robert of Saugus, MA May 31, 2009 I bought a 2003 impala in the beginning of 2004, my car only had 1100 miles on it when i bought it, After 2 days of driving, my right wheel bearing had gone, dealership fought me tooth and nail til they caved in and repaired it at no cost. Everything was peachy for about 3 months, when I lost heat and starting overheating, after going back to the dealership they said i was low on coolant problem seemed to be fixed again no charge. a month or 2 down the line, I had to replace front breaks and all 4 rotors, cost me about 400. I have since done break jobs regularly myself to avoid the high cost. but this was just the beginning, to make a long story short, I have been dealing with overheating problems for 5 years now, I have replaced my water pump twice, bypass hose's that wear leaking, intake manifold gasket TWICE, have gone through FOUR thermostats, 2 O2 sensors, an alternator, my car to this day started overheating AGAIN 5/30/2009. Took to mechanic, and they have no clue whats wrong. I have dropped over 9k into repairs for this piece of crap and i still owe 2k on it, its not paid of because the repairs kept putting me behind on payments. I cannot afford another new car i am at a loss. If it was not illegal, i would drive this car off the highest bridge i could find. I will never buy chevy again. James of Worcester, MA May 22, 2009 Car was purchased new in 2004. Approximately 18 months after purchasing, my brakes failed..I had to replace the pads and rotors at about 650. Apparently the rotors go so hot that they began to warp. Fast forward to 2007..In 2007, I begin to notice my speedometer acting crazy...The needle would stick sometimes or sometimes peg high...Was told that I had to replace the entire panel at a cost of 455. Now in 2009, I'm having Head Gasket problem...I was told that one of my cylinder heads is damage beyond repair...The total cost is 2200. The car gave no symptoms of failure (Car has 102,000 miles now) It never ran hot, I never saw any smoke. This was notice during yet another brake inspection...I've contacted GM to see if this was a known problem and they said no... They gave me the run around when I asked for help...First they said they couldn't because the dealer didn't have any maintenance records on my car, but when I offered to provide all the records, the said they couldn't because the car was too old or had over 100,000 miles on it...I then told them how the mechanic said the problem happened before 100,000 miles and that the fluids was low during my last 2 oil changes, they said they couldn't because the warranty expired after 3yrs and 36,000 miles....Now I'm stuck with a 2200 repair bill on a car the I still owe 4500 dollars on... Patrick of Newington , CT May 20, 2009 For the past year 1/2 I have complained about my cars Chevy Impala over heating and coolant problem. 8 months ago the chevy dealer said it was the water pump. I did not agree as no fluid was ever on the ground. I felt it was the head gasket. Last week it happended again and they finaly agrred its thee had gasket. I am now 2000 miles over the extended warranty and the warranty company will not pay for this nor will GM. My Car 2004 chevy impala 3.4L engine has 62000 miles on it. GM told me when I called them that for them to help me I would have to bring it it to a chevy dealer which I did. Now they are saying they can't do anything. I would have brought it to someone else to do the job cheaper but GM gave me the impression they would do something. I searched the net and found many complaints and a classaction law suit. I have a pending bill of 1630.00 at O'neils Chevy dealer in Avon CT. Advertisement
