Thomas of New York NY (3/21/03):
Carfax promises a refund of the $19.95 it costs to run a report if not fully satisfied. The criteria is that one must make the refund request within 2 months of the report, and one cannot make more than 2 requests for a report and ask for a refund. Like another on your site, I found the report of little use and requested a refund. First of all, simply finding out on their site how to get the refund is a chore. But I perservered. You are then requested to go to the "my questions" section of the customer help page.

I have now requested a refund three times. When going back to that page, it shows that the site has no record of my question being asked. Nor have I heard anything from them despite emails to carfax itself. I think this is absolute fraud, as they charged my Credit Card straight away and then don't honor their claim once the refund is requested.

I appear to have spent $19.95 for a report that was of no help. Not a huge deal, however - it absolutely enrages me that a company of this stature, who probably gets lots of people to get reports based on the money-back guarantee, doesn't honor that claim.
