Jeff of Glendale AZ (03/23/09) Autotrader.com charges different prices for the same ad based on where you live. I AM TALKING ABOUT AN ONLINE AD. How can the price be different for an online ad. It is a national database and all ads are treated the same when it comes to where a person lives. This is usery.
If yo live in Phoenix, AZ the standard ad is 35.00. If you live in Milwaukee, WI the standard ad is 15. Finally, if you live in Mobile, AL the ad is free! That is price gouging.
Kevin of Plymouth, OTHER March 16, 2009
Kevin of Plymouth OTHER (03/16/09) I took out Autotrader car insurance on 2 Feb. It is now 16 Mar and I stll do not have an insurance cover note, which means I am unable to get car tax. I have complained to them again today and t seems that they had recorded my address incorrectly. I am hopefull that they are now sending to the corrct address.
I have been extremely inconvenienced. I have had to pay out a lot of money on taxi's. I have not been able to travel in my car. I have not been able to visit friends and family. I have still been charged by them, but I have not been able to use the car. I have a sorn in place as the car is not parked on a public road, so I would not have had to pay for insurance for the period of time in question.
Dan of Cos, CO March 15, 2009
Dan of Cos CO (03/15/09) My wife and I saw a 2004 Infiniti QX56 online on Unitedautoimports, cars and autotrader. On both websites the ad for this car said that it had a sunroof on this vehicle. I printed the ads for these vehicles stating that the vehicle comes with a SUNROOF. This was FALSE ADVERTISEMENT! This vehicle does not contain a sunroof. We sent the dealership a 1000 deposit for the vehicle.
And then we found out after we sent the deposit that this vehicle does not have a sunroof and now Uno Imports does not want to refund my deposit of 1000. This all happened the morning of March 13, 2009. The Manager Wally was also very rude about this disrespectable on the phone and not willing to work with me.
Ramin of Pasadena, CA March 6, 2009
Ramin of Pasadena CA (03/06/09) The contacted me to help sell my car which was advertised on Auto Trader. They charged 300 for the service to find customers for my car. Their website promised to refund the 300 if the car was not sold for 90 days. 90 days passed and they did not call a single time or do anything to sell the car. i sent the request for refund back on 4-18-08 and have not received the refund. I have called many times and each time was promised a date to get refund, the day they promise passes by without any refund.
300 for advertisement and their service fee.
Anita of Mustang, OK February 24, 2009
Anita of Mustang OK (02/24/09) The seller used autotraders trademark to scam me out of 3000. I trusted the email I received confirming the sale was from autotrader. Ebay sends the same type of sale confirmation; so, I thought nothing of it until the seller stopped communicating. I wish autotrader would have warned me when I asked for the sellers contact information. I've filed reports with IC3, autotrader, Oklahoma and Florida police depts, and moneygram with no avail.
This was to be my son's first car. I'm out 3000 and am still suffering emotionally as a result of being victimized.
