Aftr saving for two years to take a much needed vacation in Mexico with my in-laws, I finally got some tickets at what I thought was a reasonable price online. After purchasing the tickets and recieving comfirmation a month ahead of time, I was informed by e-mail that the flight had been cancelled. So ok, we have available seats the next day on a flight leaving at 5:57 am. So after sending two e-mails saying that this would beok, I nmade arrangements to get someone to take us to Chicago O'Hare airport which is 21/2 to 3 hours away. When we get there at 3:30 am we stand in line to check in. The ticket people were late opening the counter andvery slow. After finally getting to the counter and not being able to find our reservation on the machine(I guess it is all do it yourself now) FINALLY, a ticket person came to help us. He was very rude very abrupt and absolutly no help at all.Come to find out the departure date was changed again andthere was nothing we could do. His suggestin was to " Call yor travel agency" Did not offer any possible solutions and basically made us feel we were SOL.In the meantime our ride had left to go back home and we were stranded there with no idea of how we were going to get to our destination. So we stood in line Again to see if there was any suggestions to remedy the situation as it was not our fault that the original flight was cancelled and we had to adjust our plans accordingly. Keep in mind this was a long planned vacation and we have already lost one day. This time I talked to a woman at tyhe next counter to the man that I had previously talked to, who by the way, felt he had to whisper to the womann about us. Thwe woman was just as rude as the man when I asked what we could do to get to our destination. Short of telling me we were just F***ed, she sent me on a wild goose chase to other airlines to see if we could trade our tickets for a flight on one of their planes. Well, the other airlines was very nice, but said they could not help us, that Continental had to do the transfer. So I walked all the way back to the other terminal to stand in line again. So basically, we got the runaround, lost two-three days of our vacation, put several friends and family at an inconvenience and got nowhere. We finally wound up renting a car at exorbitant Chicago prices and drove back home to start over again the next day. I will NEVER use Continental again and plan to let everyone I know what kind of company they are. You would think that after a Continental flight crashes and kills all the passengers and crew duee to lack of training that they company would be doing everything in it's power to keep the customers that are still willing to fly with them. I plan to post this on Facebook and MySpace and Craigslist to let as many people know about this company.

on 4/16 i was supposed to fly from Orlando to Monterrey Mexico with a stop in Houston, when we arrived to Houston it rained and all the flights were delayed, they finally boarded the Monterrey flight 6 hrs after and had us sitting in the plane with no air conditioning for almost 2 hours, after this time they proceeded to tell us that the flight was cancelled because the crew that was supposed to take us to our destination was not aware of the flight and had gone home.....! we were later told by the guest service reps that there were no flights to monterrey confirmed until Wednesday, this day was a Friday night (already Saturday because it was 2:00 am when they took care of each one of us), they did not offer a place to stay that night and everybody had to sleep in the floor of the airport, they did not offer any other way to arrive to our destination on a confirm status until 3 days later and kept saying that waiting list was not going to be good until at least monday, my trip was supposed to be done by tuesday so i had to come back to orlando as there was no way to get to monterrey. I went to the phones and tried to see about getting some kind of refund or voucher and they say over the phone that i should do it on their internet site, when i got home i did, it took an entire month to hear from them and at the end they refunded me $68.10 out of $445.59 that the ticket was.....

On April 2 2009 My family and I flew from Tampa Fl. to Newark NJ. for a family wedding. Our 1:45 flight was delayed until 7:20pm due to a mechanical break down of the plane at the gate. Continental moved us to another flight because the plane was taken out of service due to engine problem. Our luggage was on the first flight and was to be removed to the second flight. At 6pm they had the plane fixed and it was leaving instantly. Since they changed our flights we were not alowed to get on the original plane and we were told our luggage would be on the sencond plane anyway.
We arrived in N.J. to find that our luggage was not there. We went to the claim office and they had our luggage. It had arrived on the first flight eventhough they said it would be on the second flight. When we checked in to our hotel (after midnight) we discovered that all of our toiletries (shampoos, colone, vitamins, alergie pills, tooth paste and shaver) were missing. I called the airline and was told when I get back i needed to fill out a claim form to be reinburst for my losses.I was told to buy what i needed and send them copies of the replaced items. One month later I recieved a check for less then half the amount I had requested.I had paid $15. per bag to travel and was told later that they were not responsible for the loss of my contents.

With the economy the way it is and going thru having another child I can for sure use that money...but they wont hear it...you have to be in your death bed so continental airlines gives you your money....I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN...EVER IM DISCUSTED BY THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEIR GREED...

I was on flight 5828 flying from Houston-Bush Intl to Louisville, KY. The flight was full and the flight attendant needed two seats for a lady and her infant. Initially, she asked for volunteers to give up their seats. Two gentlemen offered their seats to the attendand, but she got distracted with another passenger a few rows back. When she returned, the same two gentlemen again offered their seats. Although she was standing right beside them, she acted like she didn't hear them. They both stood up to find other seats. When they did, she loudly proclaimed that there were two seats in the back of the plane and "they could just fight over the seats". She then began to complain everyone in ear-shot of her voice that they had bad attitudes.
As one of the gentleman was going to his new seat he looked at me and just shook his head. I laughed in empathy and shook my head too. The flight attendant saw me and asked me what my problem was. I said that the tow gentlement had twice volunteered their seats. The attendant said that was not true, and that they both had bad attitudes. I responded that she was the only one with a bad attitude. She then accused me of interfering with her job. At this point I had had enough and asked for her name or badge nuimber. That pushed her into the stratosphere. She yelled for a gate attendant, who was on the plane for some reason. When the gate attendant came back to us, the flight attendant proclaimed that I was being VULGAR,and interfering with her job. Fortunately, the gate attendant interjected enough sanity into the situation for the flight attendant to leave. I have flown for years on business - I had > 1 million miles on USAirways. I have never had a bad experience with any flight attendant on any other airlines. To the contrary, it's usually the attendand taking the gruff from the passenger.

On our recent trip to Rochester NY and New York City we suffered the following at the hands of Continental Airlines:
    1. Member of cabin crew rude and aggressive during flight to Newark. 2. Flight from Newark to Rochester cancelled because of bad weather - later flights still taking off. At least they put us up in a hotel and gave us food vouchers. 3. Not checked in properly at Rochester for return flight so Continental computer recorded me as a 'no show' and cancelled all my onward flights back to UK. 4. Unable to check in online or print any boarding passes. Staff at Continental desk at Penn Station take two hours to reinstate homebound flights. 5. At Newark Continental staff initially refuse to help - one actually pushes me away and threatens to make sure I don't get on any flights if I ask for his name. Eventually get things sorted after another 30 minutes at the desk.

We arrived for our 5pm flight out of PVD around 3:30pm and were told that our flight would be delayed, "due to weather" in New York. Of course, the airline cannot be held responsible for weather related delays. Our flight would leave PVD at approximately 8pm but Azrin B, the counter agent, assured us the other flights would also be delayed in New York due to weather and we would make our connection. He plotted out and wrote down the flights( I still have the document) and the time frame they should get to Newark and we should make our connection. We did not make our Newark connection, it left on time at 9pm.
We were told in Newark it left on time and therefore we missed it. The airline offered us "distressed passenger rates" at local hotels and we would get a flight the next am. When we asked how Azrin B could lie to us we were told they simply did not know why he would tell us we would get in on time to make our connection. There was no evidence the connection would not leave on time. The only thing they could offer at that time was a flight the next day. We lost out on a nights hotel stay in Charlotte and had to pay for a hotel in Newark. Had we been told we would miss the connection we would have gone home, which is 25 minutes from the airport and return the next day. Overall, the customer service representatives at the airline counters seem to relay that this is the norm and as consumers we are expected to just suck it up. This attitude is wrong. If airlines were made to pay I believe something would be done to make sure people make their connections. I have traveled many times in the past and this has never happened to us. On USair, we were notified 30 minutes before our flight was to leave that we would have to change flights because we would not make our connection. They wanted to fly us to Boston when our destination was Providence. When we asked how we were to get our car in Providence and get home from Boston, it was inferred that is was our problem, or we could fly out the next day. Again having to self pay for a hotel. However, we were traveling with our daughter who had finals this week and the following day was not an option. They gave us 2 seat assignments on the Boston flight and told us we would get the 3rd seat at the counter when it opened. When the counter opened my daughter was told she would not have a seat. We were expected to leave her in Charlotte and she would follow on a flight the next morning. Again we dealt with people that just did not care and were very unmoved over our distress, thus giving us the feeling this happens all the time. Luckily we got on a PVD flight due to our persistence and because some other "airline victims" missed their connection. Again, if airlines had to pay, I do not think this would happen. USair blamed our connection problem on the FAA because it was due to the airspace over New York that we would not make our connection. Again, not the "fault" of the airline because they do not control the FAA or the weather.

I booked a flight through Continental departing from Calgary to Houston, then to Cancun, for my bestfriends wedding in which I was suppose to be the Bridesmaid. The rest of the wedding party lives in Edmonton and had scheduled their flights out to Cancun from there. I however, live in Calgary and in order to depart from here I had to book my flight through Continental. A week before our departure date, my friend called me to tell me that her wedding was cancelled due to the Swine flu and that her travel agent was rescheduling her somewhere in the Dominican Republic.
I immediately called Continental to reschedule my flight, however, they were only waiving their penalty fees if I were to reschedule my flight to the same destination in a further time. I told them that the wedding was being rescheduled and that Mexico was no longer an option. I am extremely disatisfied with Continentals customer service. After continuous complaining, Continental finally agreed to credit me the money in which I paid for the flight giving me a year to the date to redeem it. However, what continental refuses to explain to me is why there flights are so much more expensive than their rivalries. To book the same flight from Calgary to the Dominican, on average, costs me atleast $500-$600 dollars more than travelling through Air Canada, Air transit, and even US Airlines. Again, explaining to them why a credit would not suffice, since it had absolutely no way to help aid my travel to my friends wedding, they began to get extremely rude with me. Both Continentals customer service rep. and supervisor could not understand that by refunding my money I would be able to afford attending the wedding in the Dominican through another airline. Continentals website states, that if they cancel any flights to Mexico a full refund would be given back. However, despite the World Health Organiztions extreme warning against non-essential travelling to Mexico, Continental refuses to cancel their flights; making individuals like myself held accountable for cancelling our own flights with no remorse. If continental wants to endanger their own staff by continuing to fly in and out of a country that has been severly affected by an Influenza virus, rated a 5 out of 6 from the WHO for a possible pandemic, than that's their own discretion. However, their customers should not have to pay for there own irresponsibility.

We are scheduled to go to Cancun Mexico May 20th 2009-May 26th. We are attempting to get our money back because it is dangerous for my friend to go when there is a flu outbreak because he has a heart condition and the government is saying not to go if it is unnecessary. They will not give us our money back. They will only give us credit of roughly $300 out of the $800 we paid. I feel this is taking advantage of people when there is a crisis and very bad business because it is going to anger customers who might never use them again. This is our first time dealing with this company and I plan to never use them again if we don't get our money back.
In addition we purchased travel insurance through another company and were told "pandemics are not covered."

Customer Service is the worst at United Airlines and we will never fly them again. We will recommend to everyone to stay away from the unfriendly skies at United. Case in point on a birthday weekend trip we took, Saturday, April 18 from Atlanta to NYC thru Dulles:
-Flight was supposed to leave at 6:00a.m from Atlanta to Dulles. Due to a mechanical problem, we did not leave until 6:50a.m. To top it all off, the mechanics in Atlanta do not start work until 6:00a.m so no one was around to fix the problem prior to the departure time. I would have thought that when the plane landed in Atlanta the night before; they would have fixed the problem so there would be no delays the next morning. -Because they scheduled the connecting flight so close together, we missed the connection in Dulles to LaGuardia. I think most people on our flight missed their connections as they were lined up behind us. -There were no more flights available going to LaGuardia, JKF or Newark, not even from Regan National Airport. This is 8:30a.m. in the morning on a Saturday and no flights to NYC. The airport is empty with hardly anybody around and they have no more flights for the rest of the day as they were all booked and over sold. We felt like we were in Fargo ND and not trying to get to the largest city in the United States. -Customer Service Representative’s attitude was very nonchalant. His name was Samuel. He did not care if we made it to NYC or not. Didn’t care that we had show tickets and a non refundable room. He saw a co-worker walking down the hall, and he started a conversation with her and then said he would talk to her later. Then his phone went off and he started talking about scheduling and his availability. Obviously, we were not the priority. He called American Airlines, they had nothing. He called Delta Airlines and they had 3 seats on one flight. They told him to go ahead and book it. He hung up the phone and when he went to book the flight, the flight had been closed. Don’t you think he would have stayed on the phone with Delta to make sure he could book the flight? He said she probably closed the flight because she thought we were already booked on the flight. He called back Delta and wasted another 15 minutes. He said there was nothing they could do to reopen the flight. We inquired about other airlines and he said there was nothing which I find hard to believe. The only option he found was that we go to Baltimore on our dime and catch a flight at 2:30p.m. United would not pay for the trip to Baltimore. At that point after an hour of not getting anywhere, we asked for his manager. He was no better. His name was Hasan Sagir. -We then had the idea that we could take the 11:25a.m. train out of Union Station in Washington and we would get there faster than the Baltimore idea. He said he would do me the “favor” of refunding me the flight from Dulles to LaGuardia but not the Atlanta to Dulles flight because I had already completed the flight and these were nonrefundable tickets. Why not refund the whole trip I asked? If we knew we were not going to get to LaGuardia via Dulles, why would we have taken the flight out of Atlanta? I think we would have had a better chance getting a flight from Atlanta to NYC. None of this was our fault and we were the ones who had to come up with alternate plan. We had to pay $250 for the train trip and with the refund of $150 for the Dulles LaGuardia flight, we were out $100 and I asked what could he do about it. He said, “I can’t do anything” “You could take a limo to New York for $600 and United would still not pay the difference”. What a sarcastic thing to say to someone. -Samuel, the first agent, then just walks away with another co-worker and lets his manager take over. He says nothing like, “I hope things work out” or “again I apologize for what has happened”. He was a total waste of time and has no idea what customer service is, what it’s about or how to give it. He was more concerned about talking with his co-workers. Unbelievable. -Hasan could not figure out how to refund the ticket. He then calls his manager to come over and help. Her name was Mary. She in the middle of doing it and then gets a phone call that says she needs to be in a meeting, NOW. So she leaves him to figure out how to do the rest of the refund. Then she comes back and tells him he needs to provide coverage for 11 gates and he starts talking to her…”How am I suppose to do that?” We are short staffed. Now, do we care about this? Is this appropriate? We are standing there upset about trying to get to NYC and they are talking about business, scheduling and staffing. Is this customer service? Is this making the customer feel any better? What are we? Just a distraction? No wonder they went bankrupt and are now are in trouble again and need to charge for everything including being over weight. Customer Service and Employees are the #1 and #2 priority in any business and when you have people working for you that don’t care; this is the demise of the business so United wonders why they were and are still in the situation that are in. I don’t want to hear the excuses about, gas prices or the economy or not enough landing slots, or short staffed or the high cost of doing business. That’s not my problem. If you can’t run a business and make a profit, then get out. Stop your whining and fix the main problem, your customer service. The issue is that senior management really does not care and they sit in their ivory office towers oblivious as to what is going on in the airports. Therefore, it is a trickle down attitude and affects everyone on down the line. So because of United’s mistake, instead of arriving in NY at 9:45a.m., we had to take a taxi to Union Station, wait for the train, take a 3 ½ hour train trip to NY and not arrive until 3:00. Needless to say, we had to get up at 3:30 a.m. in the morning to catch a 6:00 a.m. morning flight. If it were up to United, we would not have arrived in NYC until Sunday. This is unacceptable behavior and no matter what happens, it’s the customer that needs to fiend for themselves. Is this what capitalism and running a business is all about? Take money from the customer and then it’s a free for all? If it works out…fine. If it doesn’t…fine as well. If United goes bankrupt again and is liquidated, it will serve them right. No business should be in business with this type of customer service and attitude. I am requesting a refund for the flight from Atlanta to Dulles. I refuse to be out of pocket for something that was out of my control and in control of the vendor, United Airlines and for the worst issue…being treated the way we were.

When the Continental Airlines people carried my son onto the airplane, they were banging his feet and arms and had no regard for how they were handling him. Upon boarding, the flight crew treated us so bad. We kept informing them before landing to please make sure that the ground crew was there to get my son off the airplane. They kept telling us that they will take care of it at landing. Before we were about to land, the crew came around to check everyone's seat. They came to my son, went to check, and then stopped and said "whatever", and walked on. Upon landing, there was no one there to get my son. We were the last ones off the plane. We waited approximately 45 minutes before the people came, and the crew were ** because they couldn't get off until we were off (we were an inconvenience to them). To top it off, they lost my daughter's luggage, and when we were travelling to the States, they lost my son's walking frame.

I booked a flight with Continental back on Feb. 25, 2009. However, situations changed and on April 9, 2009, I had to cancel my flight. I called Continental and asked the lady on the phone about cancelling my flight, and wondered if there would be any fees associated with this. She told me no. She said, "You can fly at anytime and there won't be any additional fees." So I'm thinking, "Wow, this is so great and wonderful. No wonder I love this airline." Well, I called on Apr. 22, 2009 and was told, "No, you have to pay $150 and she didn't have to tell you anything." Very rude and very blunt! I couldn't believe my ears. I've come to realize I will have to pay this money, but I do not deserve to be treated like **.

In this recession, those of us who do have some kind of money to pay for a ticket deserve topnotch customer service. We don't deserve people who aren't compassionate. I'm not a freaking crook and I don't go around scamming people. I just want to be treated with dignity and respect. I didn't deserve such rude behavior from the three people I talked to on the phone tonight. Very disturbing. I may not be able to put a dent into their airline, but I will spread the word for others to not fly with Continental. I will not fly with them either. I will drive my car before I fly on that plane again. I suggest you do the same or read the fine lines and ask a lot of questions.

I wonder what it would have cost her to let me know that I'd be incurring extra charges if I cancelled my flight. Nothing! Not a dime! Guess this is how they make their money! They ** you and take your money! My husband is deployed and fighting for their freedom and this is how you repay your military. Thanks a lot!

When I asked about my luggage, the guy at the gate said it will be in Ft. Lauderdale (where we were going). Every employee on that flight was so rude. We were leaving for a flight from Ft. Lauderdale, Miami to a connecting flight in Houston. The flight was 5 hours delayed because of the weather in Houston which is weird, because I saw other airlines such as Southwest and JetBlue still going on with their flights to Houston. So we had to wait there for a long time until our plane was ready. Then we arrived at Houston and we were put as Standby on another flight that leaves at 11 something. The worst part was what comes after it. After we get to Ontario and I have to say, Continental Airlines are a bunch of **, my baggage was destroyed. They lost my $400 retainers, lost the key to my lock, destroyed the wheels and pocket zippers of my luggage and lost everything that was on that pocket! Then all they told me was that they did not cover that and the lady at the baggage service said, "I'm sorry." Seriously, what the hell. Now I have to spend.

I'm sorry, but I really do not recommend Continental Airlines. I knew it would have been better to go with JetBlue or Southwest. Screw you, Continental Airlines. You are a great disgrace in the world. Please disappear already.

I would like to obtain a refund due to an overpriced and unfair charge for the following reason. I made a flight reservation days prior to the departure date (8/15/2008) online. On the night of 8/14/2008, I personally called Continental Airlines in order to obtain my e-ticket (this reservation was done online), and the customer service representative from Continental Airlines informed me that I did not have a reservation on file with their airline for 8/15/2008. This previous reservation was for $379.50. I had made this reservation online with my Capital One credit card.

Due to the fact that the customer service representative did not find this reservation, I was forced to make another reservation with my American Express credit card in the amount of $789.50! I had no choice but to purchase the ticket, which was twice the cost of the original one, due to their system not finding my reservation. I did use the ticket of $789.50 to travel; however if they would of research and find the reservation I had previously made, I would have used it instead. After all, they (Continental Airlines) did also charge my Capital One credit card account with the original charge (the one their system did not find). I believe this is an unfair and deceiving act to make a consumer pay more than the average cost. I feel that the original charge should be charged, not the additional $789.50.

I have never seen such a display of incompetence - from ticketing behind a Continental counter to those permitting boarding. To top it off, I don't expect perfection, but rudeness is controllable and several members of Continental were outright rude. I feel horrible when I hear people getting laid off or companies going defunct, unless it is due to corporate greed, but I will admit that if I ever hear about Continental going under and thousands of people getting laid, I will say it is well deserved. So this is how my trip went and I have only had a one way experience thus far, and I am not looking forward to getting on another crappy Continental flight. A timeline of events for an International flight.

12:30PM: I have already checked in for a flight to Newark, NJ from Atlanta, GA. The flight is supposed to depart at 3:30PM and arrive at 6PM at the latest and should have time to for a connecting flight to New Delhi, India. 3:30PM: Still in Atlanta, GA at the airport and Continental announced that the flight will be late and will not leave until 5:30. So I went to ask a Continental rep if I would be fine for the connecting flight. She said, "Oh sure, no problem. You will have plenty of time to catch your connecting flight." I sat back down and had no worries.

5:30PM: We began boarding and took off at about 6:20PM. Now I am worried about the connecting flight. 8:20PM: We landed and I got my family (wife and 11-month-old), along with my sister and her two kids (5 years old plus 7 months old), off quick. The other passengers were nice about letting people with connecting flights off first (notice how in general, people are nice and concerned).

8:40PM at the Continental counter asking about the connecting flight: Total ** called us up, looked at our tickets and then yelled, "All the people connecting to New Delhi come up?" About 10 people, not including us, came up. The ** said, "The plane has departed and the next flight out is tomorrow night, same time. We can issue you new boarding passes." That's all. All these people were looking at him in silence - several Indians and White Americans. I looked around and said, "Where do you house people?" He stated, "The cost of hotels is out of pocket. All we can do is tell you where you can get discounted hotels at a $60/day rate."

Now I have a problem because this is the fault of poor information from a Continental rep in Atlanta. Had she provided up-to-date information about connecting flights, I would have stayed in ATL and would have caught another flight the following day. This way it wouldn't be an inconvenience for my family and the kids. This is funny. The reps gave us a 1-800 number to call customer service and it is 1-800-WeCare2 (after this trip, they should change it to 1-800-JustPay). The next day, we arrived at the gate 3 hours early as per international travel rules.

7:30PM: There were many mothers with kids traveling without their spouse. Now the rule, or possibly common courtesy, is that all disabled people should board first; then parents with small children; then first, business and finally, coach. Not here. The lady calling out ticket numbers began by calling first class, business class and then back to front. All of a sudden, you have a chaotic situation where people are crowding the floor. This was worse than traders bidding on a trading floor of a stock exchange.

I have been watching this for about 7-8 minutes and all of a sudden, I said, "Ma'am, you may want to get this under control by allowing the parents with strollers, then back to front so your area isn't as crowded." She stated they don't speak my language? I am shocked because this ignorant ** isn't speaking Gaelic, Farsi, Arabic, etc. where it would be a minority language. It is freaking English and 85% of the people appeared educated and spoke English. I lost it and made it seem truly ignorant in front of a crowd (but she did end up listening to me).

At the end of the day, I noticed the company was full of ignorant and incompetent people in various positions - from customer service (Ms. **, supervisor) to ticket takers at the gate. Now I wonder if the CEO is any better because ultimately, he is responsible for poor talent and a poorly run company.

Of all the disturbing events I've witnessed at airports in recent years, I must admit that UAL's abuse of its passengers, both on and off the ground, has put me over the edge. I was conned into flying United on two separate occasions - both overseas trips (to Germany in 2004 and to England in 2007). I insisted during the planning of the 2007 trip that I refused to fly United and was overjoyed at the prospect of flying with Lufthansa only to discover after the fact that Lufthansa had partnered with United.

Needless to say, I was royally ticked because I knew that the experience would be an exercise in terror. And I was correct: consistently delayed flights, cancelled flights, broken plane(?), lost luggage and beastly airline personnel (both ways). Though thoroughly disgusted with UAL in every respect, I managed to maintain my composure right up until the moment, on the last leg of our journey back to Colorado from London, the UAL gate agent took to downright abusing an elderly woman for no apparent reason.

I was sitting near the counter at the gate along with my ever-patient husband and a great many frazzled, exhausted, and stranded UAL passengers. Having listened to the gate attendant bark orders and rude remarks at the would-have-been passengers for more than an hour, I lost my nerve entirely when the man began to berate an old lady for stepping over the line(?) in order to ask a question. When she politely suggested that he need not treat her so rudely, he labeled her a security risk(?) and screamed at her (yes, screamed) that he would call security if she didn't shut up and sit down. Then I lost it.

I told the ** in no uncertain terms that he was, in fact, a ** and should rather call security on himself. Moreover, I made it perfectly clear that his attitude for the past hour had been intolerable and that the people he had been barking at were human beings who, at a minimum, deserved simple basic respect. I don't remember quite what else I said to him, but I could see the man fuming and turning over in his petty mind the prospect of calling security on me instead. Perhaps he thought better of it as the passengers seated around me appeared to have my back on the issue. In the end, he shut up, I shut up, and people began exchanging contact information.

After many hostile glances in my direction, which I returned in equal measure, we finally boarded an airplane. In the future, United is on my ** list (pardon the French). I'm done. I vow never again to to fly with United and, henceforth, will only utilize international airlines that are in no way affiliated with domestic airline companies. The airline industry has become an abomination and I refuse to further enable its lunacy.

I had horrible experience with United Airlines recently because I have to travel frequently and continuously for my project. The agent at United I dealt with was an extremely discriminating minority and her staff showed sympathy to me. And the crew mentioned, she could not control herself. The question is: How can United put such a woman with bad behavior at service desk to serve customers? My bag was delayed and I had problems of getting it. After calling baggage tracking several times, most agents were not helpful but talk in the 'government' style - blah, blah, blah. They don't think in their customer's shoes, not considering the pain and urgency for people who have missing baggage where all their traveling stuff are placed. Too much pain with United and I will share my terrible experience with every friend I know and try my efforts to avoid traveling with United again as much as possible.

I booked flight through Expedia.com for my 16-year old daughter and her friend to fly from Dayton Ohio to San Diego, CA. I went online the day before their flight to check them in and assign seats. The website showed seats available but upon selection would display message stating that the seat was occupied. I called and was told that the airline reserves seats and will not allow you to select and they would be assigned upon arriving at the airport or I could pay an additional fee for premium seating! Not allowing customers to select seats online is just a sad attempt for the airline to collect more money! Now, I am worried that they will not actually make this flight. This is not an acceptable practice when you are talking about minors that are traveling without an adult. This is my first experience with United and you can be assured that it will be my last.

On April 4, 2009, my family was returning from spring break in Cancun. We were going from Cancun to Houston, Houston to Seattle and Seattle to Spokane. Our flight out of Cancun was delayed by about 20 minutes. I spoke to the flight attendants about going through customs and my worry that we won't make our connection. I was told there would be someone in the terminal to help us. There was a Continental employee waiting with a wheelchair for someone else, but no one for us. I spoke to her and she said we had time to make our connection and if necessary, they would hold our flight. We rushed through customs and immigration and were just about to recheck our bags when my kid noticed on one of the screens our flight had taken off. We were 10 minutes late.

We went to the ticketing window instead of rechecking our bags and waited with over 10 other families that were in the same boat as us. The ticket agent was very apologetic and friendly. She told us that normally, they should have held the plane but it took off full so they must have sold our seats. She gave us a 1-night voucher for motel and some food vouchers and told us even though at this time she could only get us to our final destination 4 days later on Wednesday 4-8, we would have to come into the airport every day to get new vouchers. At that time, she also assured us that we would be compensated for the trouble. The motel Continental put us up in was a dive. There were some good 'ol boys drinking beer and having a BBQ in the back of a pick-up in the parking lot right below our window.

The next morning before sunrise, my husband went back to the airport to see if there was really no other way for us to get home. He spent over an hour with two Continental agents discussing splitting my family up and traveling 2 and 2. They discussed flying us into Canada and us renting a car and driving home. They went round and round trying to find a way for us to get home. None of these ideas would work for various reasons so we decided to make ourselves as comfortable as we could until we could leave Houston. Before my husband left that day, he was assured by both agents he was working with that while Continental would not reimburse with cash for any out of pocket expenses, they would compensate us with about $250 worth of flight vouchers per day per person.

Oh and by the way, the airline couldn't give us any more motel vouchers, because the motels they used were full but we were offered to stay in some sort of lounge at the airport for 3 days with our kids and all our luggage. (We found a hotel on our own.) Well, we are home now and have been told we only are entitled to $125 per person, period. That's a total of $500.

On March 2nd, 2009, I was supposed to fly back to San Francisco from Punta Cana, Dominican Republic via New York. A few hours before, I received a message that the flight got canceled, and I am now confirmed on the next flight. The problem was that the next flight was scheduled to departure on the 4th of March. Yes, I had to stay two more days in Punta Cana. The reason why the flight got canceled is weather conditions in New York. However, I went ahead and out of curiosity, I checked all departures from all three NY airports and discovered that Continental and Delta are the ones who mostly canceled their flights. Other companies actually set out a good number of flights the same morning. Afternoon and especially the next day, most of the flights left with some delays, but Continental simply cancels and doesn't even try to send places to their destinations. If you travel abroad especially to Latin America, you are very limited to available outbound flights as they depend if the flight is being sent from US.

I went to Expedia and reviewed all flights departing on the 2nd from Punta Cana and found out that there are flights, Delta 542 and 1075, that skip NY and fly via Chicago to San Francisco. Knowing that Delta and Continental are partners, I called and asked to put me on that flight. And while they had seats available both on 2nd and 3rd, they refused to accommodate me (due to fare class differences). I didn't want to spend $800 for the one way flight as it would cost me less to stay two more days in Punta Cana at the resort. Even after losing a small job on the 4th, it was almost equal in losses.

So on the 4th I arrived at the airport, and (this is funny, ironic and sad) I am asked to fly on Delta (Yes) flight as they overbooked my Continental flight to NY. See the irony? When I asked them to put me on that same flight two days ago, they refused even though they are partners; but when they needed my help, putting me on Delta flights wasn't an issue at all. I totally get the weather can be unpredictable and airlines shouldn't be held responsible for every situation, but this was different. All other airlines tried to send flights on schedule; only Continental and Delta simply cancel them. And apparently, Delta is a partner when they need it but independent company when you need it.

I sent two emails and yet to get any response. Today, I called and explained the situation and got some standard policy explanation about the weather bla-bla-blah, and that my tickets couldn't be switched to Delta due to fare difference. I forgot to mention, I have their elite status and still it didn't help. So I asked a higher level manager to call which resulted in a fairly rude/ignorant phone call from another rep which (another funny thing) refused to identify herself and hung up on me. I know they can't hang up on you so she expected me to disconnect. I didn't and finally I was rewarded $125 certificate, ha-ha. I am not going to give up on them until I get my $800 back.

We had our daughter to book us a flight. She booked us a flight at LAS Airport to RDU in NC. Our itinerary was to go from LAS to Phoenix on to Chicago/O'Hare on US Air. We were supposed to leave O'Hare early in the afternoon to board on an afternoon flight to RDU on UAL. That is when our trouble started.

The first flight was cancelled and they had no other flights available to get us out of O'Hare. We asked if there were any other available flights on any other airline and they seemed as if they didn't care of our situation or they were not allowed. They put us up for the night in a hotel and gave us a voucher for breakfast the next morning. The food was okay but the voucher was not enough for our breakfast. It was over US$20 more. We also bought basics for we had nothing on board with us, which were over US$30 in order to survive for the night.

The next morning, we got up at 0500H to try to get a standby from UAL, but no luck. Finally, we got a flight at 1108H to Wash/Dulles. When we arrived, our flight to RDU had been gone for around 30 minutes. UAL was overbooked on the next flight in mid afternoon, so we had to wait until 1735H in Wash/Dulles to get a flight to RDU. These things seem like nothing to someone who isn't going through this but if you have a mother dying, our two daughters having to give up time from their duties to drive to Raleigh and have to spend the night so they could wait for their parents to take them home, to us it becomes a big thing and it was very expensive for a family that just doesn't have extra money.

My flight from Managua, Nicaragua to Houston International Airport was late. My connecting flight (also on Continental Airlines) to Los Angeles was scheduled to leave at 5:50 pm. I arrived at the gate at exactly 5:50 pm and despite the plane still loading luggage, I was not allowed to board the aircraft because they had already re-sold my first class ticket to someone else. A Continental Airlines service agent response was to offer me a coach seat on the next available flight. That next flight was delayed 35 minutes because they were slow to load luggage. To add insult to injury, someone had rifled through my luggage in Houston and left my BlackBerry recharger cable hanging out. I don't put anything valuable in my luggage so there were no financial losses there.

Overall, I was 3.5 hours late (all due to Continental) and feel ripped off after paying for first class and getting coach. I also feel violated by Continental baggage handlers. This is my second bad experience with Continental Airlines this year so I will use other carriers from this point on.

    Here is my story
My husband and I were SUPPOSED to be on flight 1759 leaving from John Wayne airport Orange county, CA from gate 11. We arrived at the airport with enough time to handle our business we got caught up in the security line because my husband had a knife in his bag. He is a United States Marine and had previously used that bag when he was out in the field it was a honest 100% mistake. So after being harassed at security they tell him he needs to go recheck that bag in or throw the knife away. The knife is a marine issued knife and had his SS# on it so he rushed to go Re-check that bag in. Midway he decided to just throw it away and hopped back into the security line. I had gone thru security already and was standing by gate 11. I hear our names being called over the PA Amaro party of 2 so i go up to the two ladies at the gate. I said i was Valerie and my husband was coming thru the security line he had to run back and re check a bag. (i didn't know he had decided to throw away that knife and got back in line.) so the ladies tell me to hurry up call him, we are boarding we need to leave yadda yadda yadda. So i call my husband he tells me there's a long line but that hes almost to the metal detectors. I beg the ladies to just hold off for a few more mins I told them he wasnt checking the bag he was right there in security checkpoint line. It was 2:39pm when this was happening our flight was scheduled to leave at 2:50pm so I thought we had time. I even asked the ladies DON'T WE HAVE TIME? (10 MINS TO BE EXACT) she said NO! THEY NEEDED TO LEAVE NOW! She gave me about 1 minute of waiting time and decided she wanted to give our seats away to the standby people. I begged this woman over and over in tears to not give our seats away i was standing right there and my husband couldn't have been more then 30 feet away in line. She was UGLY rude and completely ignored my pleas and cries. She had no regard for what i was saying we are a marine corp family who RARELY EVER get to go home my husband served 2 tours in IRAQ fought for her freedom and he should have been treated with greater, much greater, respect then what he was given. His mothers wedding was the following day and we were just tying to get home. The plane left 10 mins before schedule with out us on it. My husband walked up LITERALLY about 30 seconds later. After this, they offered little help to get us on another flight, said our tickets couldn't be refunded that we'd have to just show up at the airport the following day hoping to get on a flight. The ladies ignored us as we stood there and never looked up from their computers. After I walked away i went back to get her name she covered up her name tag and told me I'M CRYSTAL Y. BABY THAT'S ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW! Luckily we did get on a flight the following day and we were able to attend the wedding. Thank GOD!

By 11 we were at the gate and ready to deplane. Then the crew made the unusual announcement that they were waiting to open the doors until they had unloaded all the gate checked luggage. I have flown often and had to gate-check due to small size of plane-never have they waited for it to open door. They would not allow us to deplane even though we were set at the gate and had a connecting flight.

=========================== Two months ago, I responded to one of your email promotions for the Chase Presidential Plus credit card. Since I have recently retired, my wife and I are free to travel more. By accepting the card, paying the annual $75 fee and an annual $375 fee, I would have access to the Presidents Club and receive Elite status on the day of travel. The claim of Elite Access on day of travel is fraud. On March 12, my wife and I checked in for flight 9572 leaving Killeen, Texas bound for Tucson with our usual Houston connection. I checked two bags and the elite tags were added to our regular checked tags. On arrival in Tucson, our first bag was among the last to arrive, contrary to your promise. Our second bag did not arrive. When I checked with your baggage department (handled by U.S. Airways), I was told our bag did not leave Killeen. I was further advised that our bag would arrive in Tucson around 6PM. That was curious since there were earlier flights the bag could have been put on. As it turns out, our bag did not leave Killeen until their LAST FLIGHT of the day. I checked further and was told that our bag was not boarded on our original flight due to weight and balance issues. Therefore, your so-called Priority Elite Access? is a total fraud. Your baggage department informed me that bags are removed at random? and that Elite Access made no difference. Allowing our bag to remain in Killeen for four more flights merely added the proverbial salt to the wound. Later in the evening, after hearing nothing, I phoned your baggage department (around 9:30PM) and talked to a lady named (name witheld for this site). She told me that our bag was still lost and that the bags were not checked Elite Access since I was NOT an Elite Access passenger. At that point, I was exhausted and frankly went off? on her and hung up the phone. The insinuation that I was lying infuriated me. Around 10PM, the baggage delivery service phoned me and our bag was delivered around 3AM the following day. As a result of the foregoing, I have no reason to continue with your fraudulent service and am returning your Presidents Club card. We are returning to Texas on March 23 and will gladly pay the $30.00 just to get our bags on arrival.

That gentlman was upset he would have to pay $98.00 to upgrade in order to sit with his girlfriend. This is how we knew he had coach seating right before the flight. He was given our seats.
We had already paid in advance and had our seat assignments via our boarding passes. 4) We had no choice or recourse but we were told to leave the seats we were in and to sit in the only seats left on the plane. When we began to object, we were told to sit and calm down. 5)I was separated from my husband (I am very fearful of flying) and never given an opportunity to speak to anyone or given the opportunity to go back to coach. Again, we had purchased and obtained our boarding passes before the people who ultimately were given our seats. 6) In talking to Shruti and Santi,(customer service reps at United) I was informed that my seats could be taken away at the discretion of the agent at the counter.

United Airlines website states that passengers should arrive 90 minutes prior to
departure for domestic flights. My husband, myself, and our seven year old son arrived at the United baggage counter at 4:30 am for a 6:18 flight. The line at this counter wrapped through all the ropes and extended through the lobby all the way to the airport entrance. This was the only airline that had a line. There were only two United employees working at the counter. We stood in that line for one hour and then stood in the security line for 30 minutes. We ran through the airport and arrived at the gate at approximately 6:01. The attendant told us to have a seat. We thought the plane hadn't even started to board and were flabbergasted when she finally told us and the five people that arrived after us that the flight had already boarded and that they gave our seats away! No one paged us even though we had checked in 50 minutes prior to the flight departure (Uniteds website states you must check in at least 30 minutes prior to departure). She told us that it is against their policy to page people, yet as we sat there they paged people for all of their other departing flights! To make matters worse, the gate attendant told us that we should have arrived to the airport four hours before the flight because the middle of February is the busiest travel time of the year!!!! We were all told that stand-by was our only option. After trying stand-by unsuccessfully for six hours, we found out that all United flights for that day and the following day were overbooked! David Stone, Uniteds supervisor, was rude and uncooperative. Andrea, who worked at the gate, was hostile and unprofessional. We ended up cancelling the entire trip, which we had been planning since September. My seven year old son witnessed this entire scene and cried when I told him that we were going to miss his Uncle Chris's wedding.

We asked if they could call our gate to see if the plane was on time and they were rude and said it already left. No disrespect but nothing ever leaves on time out of newark. Nobody would make the call. I had to be back to take care of military duties so we asked if the lady could see if any other airlines were flying into HIA she said we do not do that and we would have to buy another ticket anyway. We said could you please call someone we were tired from flying and being up all night and needed to get home. She was very rude and said that she could not help us and the reason that we missed our flight was because of problems to the plane which is what delayed us. I understand if we are delayed by plane problems then we as customers should be taken care of especially veterans of the military. So we then had to wait another 3 hours in the airport until the next flight left Newark for HIA. Continental prides itself on customer service and this day there was none and it is unfortunate with people losing jobs these days that people are still acting this way. I also need a written letter to state that the plane was delayed and this is why we missed our connecting flight. This all took place on the 13th and 14th of February 2009.

I am very disappointed by the way the Continental Customer Care handled my complaint (#3976982)!
My husband recently ordered continental airline tickets from Newark to Hong Kong in August through the www.continental.com website. During the order, he provided the information of two adults and two children with age of 10 and 8 years old. After he finished the order (Confirmation # AY24DB), the receipt he got from the e-mail showed the price is for 4 adults ($3,196.00 total before taxes)! As we know, international airfare for children under 12 usually is discounted from adult fare. I called the Continental on-line reservation (800-231-0856) on 2/28/09 with same travel plan. A service representative, named Pat, told me that the adults fare is $799 ($871.19 with taxes) and the childs is fare $700 ($756.70 with taxes) plus $15.00 on-line booking fee per ticket. I asked if there is any difference of booking between on-line and website. I got a confirmed answer of they are the same except $15.00 extra booking fee per ticket for on-line. After that, I gave Pat my husbands reservation information, asked him why there is a difference between what he just told me and the receipt my husband got from Continental. He told me he couldnt help me and transferred me to the Continental International Help Desk. Then I talked to Elizabeth Hernandez from the help desk. She told me a different story. She told me she had checked with the on-line reservation and there is no discount for child under 12. Since I just got the pricing information from the on-line representative Pat. I dont think she was telling me the truth. So I asked her to file a complaint with Continental (#3976982). She told me to call the Continental Corporate office (Tel. 713-324-5000) on Monday 3/2/09. On Monday 3/2/09. I spoke to David Risinger from the Continental Customer Care and gave him my complaint number. He told me that he would to get back to me an hour or so. After I hung up with him, I called the Continental on-line reservation again and spoke to a gentleman Mark (or Marc). He gave me the same price as what Pat gave me on 2/28 for the same travel plan. This time I recorded my conversation with Mark including the ticket price information as a reference. About an hour later David Risinger called. He told me that there is no such a thing of discount ticket for child under 12 and hung-up on me. What a surprise! A couple minutes later, David Risinger called me back again and told me the same story. I told him that I rather trust the on line reservation representative. I asked him if I can talk to his supervisor or someone who has better knowledge since he was not able to help at all. At first, he said that his supervisor was not available. Later he said that I cant talk to anyone except him and refused to transfer me to his supervisors voice mail. Finally, he asked me to call on-line reservation and promised that he would credit me back if there was any child discount ticket! However he refused to document me what he just said to me. Not to my surprise, when I called the on line reservation on again. Now, I was told, for same the trip, the child fare is the same as adult! It is very obviously that the information had been changed after I talked to David Risinger. I dont know what exactly happened. But I think this was a very sneaky/cheating way to do business with customers. Thank God, I had my conversation with Mark (Marc) recorded, so I can approve that Continental on-line reservation did sell child discount ticket. The way that David Risinger handled my complaint is very unprofessional! He did it on purpose asking me to call Continental on line reservation again by knowing the pricing information had just been changed there. I cant believe, Continental, such a big airline company could do such thing to its customer! Where are all the trust and faith? As a long term Continental customer, I am very disappointed for this. I really wish Continental Airline can do a little better than this.

So I have a flight from Costa Rica to Houston, Texas. While that transfer from Houston to SFO, we (my friend and I) have to take our luggages and go through immigration and check in again. During that time, Continental did not put our luggages on the plane, so we had to get our delayed luggages on Sunday. When they delivered them, mine was like sliced across and they had a plastic bag over it while some of my things were falling off. They lost my favorite prescriptioned glasses and the whole luggage is just ruined. I called them many times and they said they were not liable for it, so I try to let it go, but this morning at like 5am, some guy who delivers luggages for Continental calls me and said he has my luggage and is going to be there at my house in 30 mins. I told him that I have all the luggages, but he insisted to come and show me that one, and not very polite. I didnt pick up his other phone calls afterwards, but I think Continental should really at least compensate me on something. We almost missed our flight too because of all the immigration things we went through and the other gate was like on the other end of the airport. If it wasnt for someone who drove us there on a cart, we would have missed it because the door was already closed when we got there. Continental Airlines have DELAYED and DAMAGED my luggage.

My husband and I were bumped off of flight # from Chicago to Cancun. The reason given at the gate was over-booking. As a result, we could not go to Cancun until the morning, which meant we missed one day of our vacation for which we had already paid. In addition, we had no luggage and were given a grand total of $15 each for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The airlines offered us vouchers for future flights or air mileage for their airline. Since we will never fly United again, this is unacceptable.

Our complaint is also against United Airlines USA. They kept referring us to the Hong Kong office. Flight from Manila, Philippines to Baltimore, Washington International (BWI) airport, we were charged $44, checked excessive baggage fee in Manila, Philippines by Philippine Airlines to BWI and were charged again an additional $131, checked excessive baggage fee in Hong Kong United Airlines for same baggage for a total of $175. In this case, honesty doesn't pay. While transferring/checking-in between flights in Hong Kong, mind you, we never went to baggage claim, United Airlines was acknowledging our checked baggage at four (4) and we acknowledged the same and that we checked an additional baggage for a total of five (5) and showed the added baggage payment receipt paid in Manila, Philippines.

The United Airlines representative charged us an additional fee for excessive baggage without even seeing the baggage and threatened us by saying if we didn't pay it, the baggage will be removed from the aircraft. We were being honest. Had we said nothing, it wouldn't be an issue, but to bluntly charge us $131 for bags whose contents were valued at less than $50 is outrageous. It was our understanding paying the excessive baggage fee initially in Manila, Philippines was for the entire flight, however, the United Airlines representative said only from Manila to Hong Kong. But the baggage tag/receipt from Manila listed our complete itinerary (i.e., MNL-HKG PR 0300, HKG-ORD UA 0896 and ORD-BWI UA 1236).

The irony of the whole matter is the United representative in Hong Kong not ever saw the baggage and assessed us the outrageous fee with an I don't care personality. Pay it or leave it attitude. We believe and feel we were unjustly taken advantage of by United Airlines and this particular representative. We've contacted the reimbursement department and were recently notified via phone that we would not receive a refund. We have not received an official letter from United Airlines acknowledging this matter.

I will NEVER fly with United Airlines again. It is a total joke. They are not interested in doing the right thing. Their so called "customer service" department is a fraud. People do not speak proficient English and hang up on you when you do not buy their ridiculous offers. "Customer Service Supervisor" is also a joke. I sent several emails to Ms./Mr. ** and was told in basically the same language to go to **, but nicely of course.

Here is what happened: On December 18, 2008, I had a flight from Greensboro [GSO], NC to Grand Rapids, MI (GRR) with a flight change at O'Hare, Chicago (ORD). The flight leaving GSO was late because the staff in Chicago didn't get the plane ready in time to leave ORD to come to GSO. Therefore, I arrived too late at ORD to catch the flight to GRR, the last one of the day. Weather was turning bad. The United ORD customer service people told me the first seat I may be able to get from ORD to GRR would be the 20th. I was supposed to hang around ORD for two days!

They did not offer to give me a hotel voucher, just a so called "coupon" where I could get a hotel room for $60.00. I later found out that the airport has cots available for stranded customers but was not offered this. Because I had no intention of staying at ORD for two days, missing the family get-together in Michigan, I found a rip-off one way, one-day car rental from Alamo, for $300, from ORD to GRR (150 miles).

Now it was midnight and the weather was bad. Mind you, the flight from ORD left on time to GRR... weather had not been an issue. The issue was their STAFFING problems, causing me to leave too late from GSO to catch my connection to GRR. I ended up staying at a motel somewhere outside of Chicago for another $70 (both expenses unplanned, of course) because I felt it was unsafe to keep driving and too cold outside to park. Eventually, I made it to my destination, $400 poorer. Trip home: again, the flight from GRR to ORD was delayed due to United's STAFFING problems. The pilot announced that the plane was late because the crew in Chicago didn't show up to fuel the planes! They said it was TOO COLD! Therefore, we were late leaving GRR.

When I arrived in ORD, I found my return flight to GSO was coded as "closed". I found a security guard at the gate and asked him what this meant. He said the plane hadn't left but it was closed. I told him I was late due to the fuelers not showing up! I asked if I could still get on the flight since it hadn't left. He said, “Go to the door and knock and see if anyone is in the hallway (the trailer thing that connects the airline gate to the plane).” No one was at the desk; no one answered my knock at the door. I tried the door and it was open! I later found that this is a breach of security of a restricted area. I opened the door, and called out. No one answered.

Well, being in a frame of mind to get home on time, seeing that the plane was still there and the last one going out to GSO and my being scheduled to work the next day, I took my chances and opened the door. I called out... no one answered. I walked to the plane where I encountered a man and a stewardess outside the waiting plane. The man saw me and screamed at me, asking what was I doing? I told him the door was unlocked and this was my flight. He screamed that this wasn't true... the door wasn't unlocked. I beg to differ. He grabbed my boarding pass out of my hand and stomped off, ordering me to wait there. The stewardess was kind to me in the meantime. I told her about the flight being late from GRR due to Chicago's staff not coming to work to fuel the plane due to the cold. COME ON! I have lived in MICHIGAN most of my life and understand cold weather. People adapt!

The guy that grabbed my boarding pass came back and rudely barked at me to board the plane. He did not give me back my ticket. The stewardess asked him if he wanted me to get on the plane. He replied that he would have had to file an incident report and would have gotten in trouble for a breach of security so was going to let me on. I was thankful to get on. He never did give me back my boarding pass and when I arrived at GSO, my luggage was missing. They did deliver it to my house in the wee morning hours.

I tried to contact United Customer Services myself. My husband, as I said earlier, got hung up on when he called to complain about the need to rent an expensive car and a hotel room due to their staffing problems. I fared no better. Several emails to and from United have resulted in nothing more than their unwillingness to be responsible for the damages and stress that they cost me due to their staffing problems and poor staff behavior. They offered me their $25 certificate off of a future flight, which is a joke because I will never pay another dime to fly on United. We must pay them, provide them more business, to redeem their offer of good faith. Is this crazy, or what? The best they would do was go up to $75.00. Again, I told them to keep it.

I eventually got assurance that the cost ($55.00 approx.) of the segment of my flight between ORD and GRR would be refunded to my VISA. I never did get a response to my request about who to report the breach of security I encountered to. I was told the staff was acting that way to protect me! When I told them that was a joke and again demanded who to contact to report this, I was eventually told this staff would be dealt with but their staff issues were confidential. When I told them that two round trip tickets (first class and hotel expenses) would be considered fair compensation for what I felt I suffered financially and stress wise, I was told there was no way I would get this.

I eventually wrote to the TSA complaint about the breach of security issue. They got right on it and asked for details. I am still awaiting the final outcome but at least feel that I have had some satisfaction in one small way. By the way, Travelocity also got involved, supposedly, but all I get is automated emails from them and no response/resolution. I just recently flew to Mexico on Delta and it was a 180 degree difference. Smooth, friendly, no $15.00 bag check fee. Never again, UNITED. I think we need to file a class action law suit. Any lawyers out there willing to go for it?

Mid November, I booked a flight to Dublin, Ireland. It was brought to my attention, while looking to book two additional family members, that the cost of the flight had been significantly reduced for a savings of $111.60 per couple. I called the customer service line to ask for a credit for a future flight in that amount and was told, their price guarantee is only valid if I found a flight for less money on the same exact day I made the reservation. Sorry, you made these reservations 5 months before traveling and sometimes it just works out that way for the convenience of booking early. They were going to charge me a $250 per couple to change the reservation to reflect the reduced airfare that amounted to $111 per couple. Believe me, I understand that they are a business and their bottom line is their main interest however, in this ecomomy where people are struggling to get by, as I am, doesn't management see the benefit in issuing a voucher for a future flight. It would cost a great deal more than a $111 to purchase two tickets to anywhere! Ultimately increasing their bottom line. Trying to plead my case, I explained to Jeremy that I had purchased the travel insurance and could cancel my entire family's reservation that would cost Continental over $2,500 in canceled flights in addition to losing the cost of the additional two flights we were looking to book. His reply was to go ahead an do that if I wish. I find it appalling that a major airline that claims to have this wonderful Customer Care policy to treat a paying customer with such disregard. I have only flown Continental once in the past. They are not customer friendly and in the future, I will avoid flying with them at all costs. I wanted to email their customer service department or management however, it is impossible to get a valid email or phone number to reach anyone in management therefore, I am posting my complaint here. I am not surprised to find so many similar stories on the web!

I had a company event in Orlando, Florida and was booked initially on a US Airways flight home to Ontario, CA. I checked in at the kiosk at US Airways and it directed me to United Airlines, since it is the same owner/operator. I begin to input my information at the United kiosk and my information was not available. It said that it can look up my info by swiping my credit card, which I did. My name was in their system; however my itinerary wasn't. I was automatically forwarded to manually pick my flight and seats. I figured they didn't have my itinerary because of the airline change. I thought I was charged $93 for my flight back, but it was actually an upgrade to an economy plus seat. Never in the kiosk did it ask for an upgrade, nor did it have a record of my itinerary.

I did not find this out until two weeks later when I tried to get reimbursed from my employer. I called and complained to their customer service, but it was hard to understand because they spoke with a thick Indian accent. They said they couldn't do anything for me. I paid $93 unknowingly for a seat that I did not want, and I have spent hours and the company's hours trying to figure it out.

I was scheduled to fly home from FL on 12/23/08, but tried to fly out a day earlier because of an expected snowstorm in Chicago where I had to connect through. I was told since I used frequent flyer miles, I couldn't change, and was told it would be useless to try standby because all flights were full (my brother flew out on one of those full flights and said it was half empty).

When I tried to fly out on my scheduled flight, I was first met with "We don't know if or when your flight will depart due to equipment breakdown in Washington, DC", followed by "If the equipment does arrive, we don't know if or when it will depart due to the snowstorm in Chicago, and if or when your connecting flight will leave". I asked if I could rebook, and was told they would NOT rebook me on another airline because I used frequent flyer miles, and the next flight they could get me home on would arrive at 10:30 PM, Christmas Eve.

I am a Labor and Delivery RN, and was scheduled to work from 6 AM to 6:30 PM on Christmas Eve, so it was imperative I get home on the 23rd. I was able to rebook on Southwest Airlines at a personal cost of $410. An email complaint to United's customer service netted me a $25 goodwill certificate. A complaint through the BBB netted me a refund of half of my FF miles, neither of which does me any good, since I had used my last 25,000 miles to purchase the ticket. I would have to fly 12,500 miles on United to have enough miles for another ticket.

We live in Great Falls, MT and it is very costly to fly out of Great Falls Airport. Therefore, we typically fly out of Spokane. It is a 6 to 6 1/2 hour drive to Spokane but, the savings is usually well worth it. However, this time I am not sure. On Jan. 16, 2009, I made reservation for myself, my husband and 6 foreign exchange students, and their foster grandmother to fly out of Spokane, WA (GEG) on April 29, 2009 on United 0430 at 2:10pm to arrive in Denver (DEN) at 5:20pm, Depart on flight 1295 DEN at 6:55pm and Arrive in Orlando (MCO) at 12:18. A couple of weeks later, United Airlines made minor changes to the schedule which put us into MCO about 15 minutes later. Not a big deal!

Today, we received an automated phone message that our itinerary had been changed again. I did not receive any notice in my e-mail and they have both mine and my husband’s e-mail to notify in the case of a change to the itinerary. I checked online to see the new schedule. Now, they have us departing GEG at 4:55pm arriving in Sea-Tac (SEA) at 6:11pm, departing SEA at 7:08pm and arriving at LAX at 9:45pm; departing LAX at 10:45pm and arriving at MCO at 6:03am on April 30th. It is now going to take us 25 and 1/2 hours to cross the US.

I called United Airlines and they told me that the flight we were originally booked to fly out of DEN on was an American Airlines flight. It was listed, and I printed it out as United 1295. United said we would have to pay to change the itinerary to get back on the original flight going out of DEN since it is now an American Airlines flight. It is going to cost $75.00 each. 9 x 75 = $675.00. They offered a couple other itineraries out of Spokane leaving at either 6:00am or at 9:30am. This means we either drive all night long with children and an elderly lady who is on heart medication, or we leave the day before and pay for several motel rooms, which is going to be equally costly.

The other option was to fly out of Billings, MT which would cost us an additional $75.00 per person for the difference in the cost of the fare and $75 per person for changing our itinerary. To compensate us, they would give each passenger a $100 voucher to use towards travel in the US at a later date. We could not use it towards this particular trip to Florida. These are foreign exchange high school students whose parents live in various countries. Their visas expire in June, and they have to return to their home countries. They are going home within three to four weeks after the trip to Orlando. They will not have an opportunity to use the vouchers. I explained this to the agent I was dealing with on the phone.

I asked if they could pay for our hotel if we drove to Spokane the day before. They could not. It was take the vouchers good for a later travel or nothing. I and my husband are not frequent flyers. We were unable to use vouchers given to us for giving up our seats in the past due to all the restrictions they place on those vouchers. I have collected the money from the children’s parents. I have paid for the flights and budgeted exactly what we need to take these children on this vacation.

I cannot ask their parents to send me more money because the airlines is changing our itinerary. I cannot tell them it is now going to cost more than we originally agreed on because we have to pay for changes to the flight itinerary or pay for hotels we did not plan on. I cannot drive all night and stay awake or keep the children up all night. They are teenagers. It is not like they can lay down in a car and get comfortable to sleep through the night. We all know how comfortable the seats in the airplanes are.

This is so unfair to these children and their families. I have no way to come up with the extra money for the changes, but if I do not, I am facing international lawsuits from the children’s parents. This is crazy. Now, I have to ask if I could even get it straightened out and afford the changes they are purposing. How many more times between now and April 29th are they going to change our scheduled itinerary and how many more times are they going to try and charge us.

I received my statement in Dec. and found out a charge of $150 from United Airlines which I didn't know about. I called United and found out it was a change penalty from a traveler whose airline ticket we previously paid for. We only paid for his original ticket, but not responsible for any change he made. I checked with United, they said he called and made the change himself. I'm positive that the traveler did not know the credit card number or card holder's name. Yet the airline did not verify anything with him then let him use my card to make the change. However, the airline said since I was the original purchaser for the ticket, so they can just charge to the same card if there is any additional afterwards.

I thought this is ridiculous. The funny thing was, the traveler made two return changes according to United's record. The second change was made 4 days after the first, and it was charged to the traveler's own credit card. So I asked them, "If you guys can charge any penalties on the original card, then why didn't the 2nd reservations rep ask for a new credit card?" It must have been then carelessness of the first reservation rep. They did not know what to say. Then the rep from United's customer relations department just suggested me to dispute this charge from my bank, Chase Bank, which I did afterwards.

I waited over a month and didn't hear any update. I had to call and follow up myself to the bank. They told me United was able to provide a receipt with card number, traveler's name and approval code. So they just went ahead to close the case. I was surprised. Not only they did not protect its clients, but also they didn't notify me about this. Of course, they had an approval code.

The airlines has my credit card information! I didn't know what else to do, so I had to turn back to United again. The customer relations rep transferred me to their accounting/refund department to discuss this. The lady from accounting department said if I can provide another credit card, then they can remove the charge from my original credit card. I told her I think this was some mistake that their reservation rep made, to charge my card without checking with me, then United should be the one who bears this charge. She didn't think they did anything wrong and if I could not provide another card, then she wouldn't help me.

Therefore, I went back to customer relations to ask if they can provide me a company policy which states that if they have a customer's credit card then they can charge it. The rep said they wouldn't be able to provide it and could only forward my case to the superior to review. I was so tired to call and explain to different people and no one is taking any responsibility. Please help.

United Airlines: Flying the Family Unfriendly Skies

Recently, I had the displeasure to fly on United Airlines with my two year old daughter. According to the FAA, young children are recommended to be in a 5 point harness while on board any aircraft if you have purchased them a seat (which I did, full price). So having read this, I planned to take my child's car seat, her diaper bag and her stroller (which I gate checked). I didn't take anything unnecessary, just the barest minimum of what was needed to travel with a two year old. As a mother traveling with a small child, this was quite a bit to carry and was very cumbersome (two hands are needed to push a stroller, but I also had to carry the car seat).

As I went through security, I was informed by the TSA agent that her father could walk us to our gate to help carry this. But in order to do so, I would have to get a pass from the airline I was traveling with. When I asked the man at United Airlines Customer Care about this, he was very rude and told me in his snottiest voice that they don't do that for any family that needs assistance, only people who are disabled? I asked if anyone from United could assist me and was told, "that is not our job." When I told the TSA agent what United had told me, he shook his head and said the other airlines give out passes to family members all the time.

I kissed my husband goodbye and went through security, which turned into a twenty minute process. The TSA agents felt so bad for us that they offered to help us to our gate (the same happened on our return flight. I received more help getting to our gate from TSA than I did my own airline). After we finally made it to our gate, I thought our problems were over. Ha! While gate checking the stroller, I asked about pre-boarding (so that I could install the car seat before being in everyone's way). But instead of answering my question, the gate agent told me that, "You will board whenever your section is called." In other words, he blew me off and didn't even bother to explain to me that United's policy is to never pre-board families with children or parents with car seats.

I found out that info from the gate agent while boarding for our return flight. Instead of being allowed to install the car seat and buckle in my child in relative peace while first class was boarding, I got to carry the car seat above my head (while carrying my child and her diaper bag) because it was too wide to fit down the isle of the plane. It would've bumped into the heads of the people already seated. Then hold up everyone trying to get past me to their seats, while I frantically tried to install the car seat and at the same time, tried to make sure my daughter was safely out of everyone's way. Other passengers offered more help than the crew in both getting on and off the airplane.

Please understand I was not asking for anything out of the ordinary. Only for United's employees to do their job. Both of our tickets were bought full price. I did not bring excess baggage. In fact, her diaper bag fit underneath the seat in front of us. I was asking for a bit of common sense and perhaps a smidgen of humanity. The sad part is that because United did not do their job (the job I paid them to do), other passengers and the TSA agents had to step in and do it.

I am not writing this to complain (okay, maybe a little), but to warn anyone considering travel with children about United's bad policies. I know other airlines are far more considerate of their passengers and actually offer assistance, as well as pre-board people with small children to prevent situations such as mine from happening. If I can keep anyone from having the same experience that I did, I will. DO NOT FLY UNITED IF YOU ARE FLYING WITH CHILDREN, unless you like being treated like crap!

I was told by a United rep back in 2007 that I had a credit on the books for a ticket that had to be cancelled due to an illness. I was not informed of any time limits so when I tried to use the credit in Dec. 08, there was no credit on the books. I was told to contact customer relations and given a number. It took me 4 weeks to get through and when I did, I was told they could do nothing. I asked to speak with a manager and I was told no but they did transfer me to a supervisor who said they could do nothing and hung up on me.

We were overcharged $690.00 for a misleading program on the E-Ticket that caused us to upgrade to 1st class unknowingly. When we discovered the problem before takeoff, we immediately notified the flight attendant, who said there was nothing we could do. We are still awaiting a response from United about receiving a refund. It is two weeks and three emails later, and still no call or response from United.

Continental Airlines connected me directly to Hotels.com. When I contacted them about my problem Mr. Hern told me that I would have to contact Hotels.com directly they have no responsibility for any misrepresentation by Hotels.com. Taly, Hotels.com representative told me that use of my credit card was for a deposit. Not so, the total amount was charged. She also told me that the hotel reservation could be cancelled (deposit refunded) prior to arrival-no so. Also that the Hotel provided shuttle service from Marco Polo Airport - they don't.
All in all Hotels.com misrepresented the entire reservation process. Due to so many misrepresentations, we are not even sure that we will have rooms when we requested them. Perhaps we will have hotel rooms when and where we booked them.

On December 20, 2008, at 12:13 PM, I received notification from Continental Airlines, that my flight CO529, confirmation AGHMGV, due to leave Denver International Airport (DIA) at 6:25 PM for Newark International Airport, had been canceled. I was due to fly with my wife and son, to join our three daughters who had flown earlier, to New Jersey to spend Christmas with family. I was told that there were no flights until December 23. I immediately purchased three one way tickets on Frontier Airlines, at a cost of $1,705.50 for the three of us. While we were in flight to New Jersey, at approximately 7:00 PM, Continental called my phone to tell me that flight CO 529 was reinstated and it would leave around 10:30 PM on December 20, 2008. Of course I did not recieve that message until I landed in Newark, and that was too late to be of any use to us and it was past the scheduled departure time of the canceled flight.
Tonight, January 21, 2009, I called Continental airlines, to get them to pay for my Frontier tickets, and they refused, but did offer to refund the unused portion of my original ticket, which should amount to about $538.50, which leaves me out $1,167.00 for this event which was 100% the fault of Continental. Obviously someone was very hasty in canceling the flight in the first place. I hope that you can help me get Continental to pay for their error. Ironically, my Frontier flight was right behind Continental Airlines flight 1404, which crashed and burned right in front of us at DIA. So I was not the only one to get burned by Continental Airlines that night.

I had unused airline tickets. When I called in to find out what the policy was I was told to keep my confirmation number and I could get a credit for those tickets on any future reservations within a year of booking.I then made a reservation for a cheaper ticket under the same name, online. I called in to get the credit applied to my new ticket - knowing that I would lose 100 dollars of the original 480.50 just for rebooking, and probably the remainer, because my new ticket was less; 240.40 - compared to 480.50
The first CS agent told me I waited too long to try to get the credit, even though the credit does not expire for another month?? He then told me I could not get the credit because I made the reservation incorrectly. Then he put me on hold for 10 minutes. After being passed from Customer Service Manager to CS manager, each time with atleast a 10 minute hold, I could not use of my credit (480.)for my ticket(240). The CS Manager( Ms. Hernandez) accused me of having trouble understanding things because I didn't understand why I had a credit that was clearly mine, for way more than the price of the new ticket, and I could not use it. She also put me on hold twice for over ten minutes. SHe also informed that in the 14 years she had worked for continental that no one had ever had this same complaint. WOW - I find that hard to believe. When I asked her why I was not informed of this policu when I called into the airline to cancel those tickets, she told me it was their policy not to tell customers that information (WHY???) I asked why? She then asked me why didn't I ask more specific questions? Well, because it never crossed my mind that the airline would try to find some stupid loop-hole to keep my money. She then asked me acusingly why I was trying to get away with not paying for my new ticket. Well, becasue I purposly booked 8 tickets on Continental becasue I knew I had a credit of 480 dollars. How could I be trying to get away with paying for something that I already paid for? Finally I spoke to another CS Manager (Victoria). Within 2 minutes she agreed to send me a voucher (380.00)that anyone could use, good for the next year(an additional year). The ticket I was trying to get credit for was 237.00 and the voucher is for 380.50. I could not use my credit on my new ticket because I did not book the ticket correctly. I had to book it using the old number? SO they could have got off giving me 240.40 but instead they wasted my time and pissed me off, and it cost them more to do it. How stupid - no wonder they are failing! I find it sad that the airlines CS department gives a bad name to the whole airline, and they wonder why no one likes to fly, why people are in a bad mood when they fly, and why they are suffering.

This note is to register a complaint about your flight service for flights I recently took:
The flight Continental 634 was to leave LAX at 11:15 Monday Dec. 15. The plane was in place at 9:30. At 11:15 it was announced that we would be leaving at 12:30 as the crew to service the plane was coming in from Newark and was late. I felt that this was absurd planning on the part of the company to have a crew servicing an LA flight having to come in from across the country, particularly at this time of the year. The people assisting at the desk for Continental were surly and slow and not willing to accomidate at all. One rep said that they had called Cleveland and asked that the planes awaiting connection be held. I do not know if this was the truth. We finally left after 1:00. When we arrived in Cleveland, a few of the planes had been held, but not the flight 2295, Cleveland to Albany. There were 10 or more people traveling on the flight 634 from Los Angeles that needed that Albany flight. When we arrived in Cleveland, not only had the plane not been held, but it had left at 7:30 instead of the sceduled 7:45, knowing full well there were at least 10 more people coming in on one flight and that all further flights to Albany for the next two days were oversold. Now that was just appalling, particularly with all the problems. There were no weather problems for either flights, only mismanagement by the air company. This mismanagement is quite unforgivable. To the air companies credit the staff in Cleveland was helpful and accomidating. They re-routed me once I had actually missed the flight, and they did so for other people also. The staff in LA was not willing to do this, nor were the reps on the phone when I asked. I did get routed to Syracuse later, but if I had no choice but to go to Albany, I would have been stuck in Cleveland for 2 days. Had the staff in Los Angeles been honest about what was happening, decisions could have been made before leaving LA. While I understand the airline will not take responsibilty for missing flights due to lateness of planes or staff, it was completely irresponsible for a plane with 10 passengers coming in to cath it (a plane with likely less than 30 seats) to leave early. I therefore wish to register this complaint and request compensation for the inconveniences caused.

Outraged, I called customer service and spoke with 2 supervisors from another country telling me that I'm an idiot and hanging up on me. I asked several times for the phone number and address to corporate and they refused. FINALLY, I called and got a payroll number and they gave me the corporate number. The very polite and sincere receptionist gave me a VP's(?) phone number. I have left several messages at this number 312-997-8120 with no response. I'm not asking for a free ticket and I am more than willing to pay $100.00 in penalties for each ticket. I had to book an emergency flight from Raleigh/Durham to Chicago O'Hare Airport. The initial conversation took place with a young man named Bren by phone. The initial flight reservation was to leave RDU at 5:40 am, with a layover in Washington, and connect to a United flight to Chicago. Arrival time in Chicago should and would have been 9:03 am. Upon my arrival at RDU at 4 am, I was informed at this time that both the initial flight, as well as the connecting flight, were cancelled. A phone call was made to my Aunt's home in Chicago, alerting me that my connecting flight had been changed, upsetting my aunt in the process by adding to a stressful situation already in progress, which was the reason for my booking the last-minute flight to begin with.

If that were not enough, I arrived at the ticket counter, only to be informed both flights were cancelled as stated above. I'm angry at the fact that I had driven a long way to be there in time. I'm also angry at the fact that I was not informed of the fact. I had to rebook myself on a later flight, at a higher rate, for the exact same booking.

The information was never stored in the computer; this information was all given to me by a ticket agent named Katherine. I am a Creole. This woman spoke and treated me as though I was mud on her shoe. I was in shock. I have never experienced in my life the level of rudeness displayed by an individual in customer service, ever. I immediately left the counter, and put in a call to the home office. I spoke with someone named Hans. I was told by this person that my ticket was free. I asked him to repeat himself three times. He reiterated that because I was a protected customer, due to both flights being cancelled, my ticket was free.

I went back to the counter, explained this to Katherine, and yet again to a second agent named George. Katherine totally ignored my presence altogether. I then asked to speak to a supervisor. To my surprise, Katherine was the supervisor. I was being charged an entirely different yet higher fee for the same flight that was cancelled without my knowledge. Yet, Hans repeatedly explained to me that my ticket would be free. Now dealing with George, who knows nothing, he asked me to call the home office again. This call was made within 15 minutes of my first call to the home office. I received Hans once again. He retracted his statement and pretended not to remember the previous conversation regarding the free ticket.

I was charged a ticket fee of $35. I inquired at this point to the ticket agent, George, what and why there was a ticket fee. He explained it was for the ticket paper. I went back to the agent, Katherine, to have the fee waived due to all of these problems. She completely ignored me once again, taking care of others right in front of me who clearly were in line after me. A nice gentleman said to her, "She is next." She again ignored my presence. I watched patiently while she addressed the Caucasian race with "Good Morning", "Sir", and "Ma'am". I watched her waive a fee for a gentleman right in front of me.

She abruptly acknowledged my presence for an entire moment to signal the word "No". "You need to pay the fee and the new ticket price." My father is ill, so I did. I had no options facing me. I walked away humiliated, and almost missed the 7 am flight because of the rudeness from the security check. I was a special search for some apparent reason. I also had to pay a $15 fee for one bag check to and from my destination.

Continental refund managers assured me my refund would be overnighted to me in Denver so that I may return by ground to Anchorage, Alaska. This first happened on December 31st and today is January 7th and I am still stuck in Denver with medical problems. I was lied to four times by four different agents and one corporate manager in Houston. Here is the final corporate email I received this morning after I informed Susan from Corporate that she too is now lying to me as no FEDEX was ever sent: I remain stuck in Denver without lodging now and without medical treatment all because of Continentals continued lies. Hello, Well, I do understand your disappointment. I was very sorry to see that with the Supervisor being out of the office yesterday, the word did not get to the correct person to pull the draft and send it via FedEx. I had given them our Cost Center number, so nothing should have impeded this process. I do understand that during your many communications with us, that many stories were told to you, and I am sorry about that. Please know that we still went far outside of policy to try and expedite this refund for you. As you may recall, cash refunds may take several weeks to work their way through the system, and this one was pulled out from the queue and worked out of order, in an attempt to help you with being stranded in Denver. However, I must decline your request for assistance with your lodging expenses, as you were the one who cancelled your trip, therefore leaving you in Denver. The flight you originally booked passage on, did operate. Again, I am sorry that this has stretched out for several days, but please know that technically the process was altered in an attempt to get this to you as quickly as possible and even though they let me down by not catching it and sending it via FedEx, you are still receiving it several weeks ahead of when it would normally arrive. Kind regards to you. Susan

I had a ticket for a flight out of Chicago (O'Hare) to Los Angeles (LAX) on a Sunday night. I got to the airport to find out that the flight had been overbooked and I was placed on a "confirmed awaiting seating assignments" list. Unfortunately, not enough people missed the flight, or volunteered to give up their seats, so I was bumped off the flight. In this process of waiting for my seat, I was confronted with rude employees who didn't care to explain the situation to me. I am only 19 years old and I have never had this occur. I was very confused, and no one cared to help me with my questions. I tried explaining that I had school the next day and I had medication I needed to take in my luggage, yet the staff waited to tell me that I didn't make it on to the flight after the plane had already taken off.

They got me on a flight the next morning, then told me I could choose between $575 or a free round-trip flight. The rep told me that taking the $575 would be smarter, so I did. He then said United would put me up in a hotel room and pay for transportation there. I live with my family and wanted to go home, so I asked for transportation money instead. The representative calculated how much a cab fare would cost to my town, and came up with $25 each way. He then gave me two $25 vouchers: one for the way there, one for the way back to the airport. I have no idea how much cabs cost, so I believed what I was told and accepted the vouchers.

When I arrived home, the cab fare was $80. I was beyond mad. I am a college student who is very low on money; I cannot afford to pay for OTHER PEOPLE'S MISTAKES. I had to take a cab to the airport the next morning, which cost about $80 again. I talked to several people at the airport, and all they told me was basically, since I had accepted the vouchers, there was nothing they could do about it. They also told me that since the economy is so bad, they can only give out $25 vouchers, and that I could call customer service but they would just tell me the same thing. How on earth is a hotel room and transportation equal to two $25 vouchers? When I got to LAX, I had to get another cab, since the person who was going to pick me up the night before had to work now. All these cab rides cost me around $250.

Once again, I am a college student who has very little money. So basically, United screwed me over. I was unable to fly out on Sunday night. I missed school on Monday. I could not take my medication, and now I have to see a doctor to try and somehow fix this. I had to pay $250 in extra cab fares. I didn't have my clothing, medication, and other things I needed that were in my luggage which was on the plane; I was faced with several rude employees; and I wasted hours of my time waiting at the airport. I will never fly United again, and hope those of you reading this will choose a different airline as well. Thank you.

Other employees won't even answer the question. I was told they are sorry I am disappointed and that they have made their decision on how much to pay me and that they can not reimburse me anymore. Can I contact small claims about this matter? They do have a liability section on their website that states I may have to check my carryon if it doesnt fit in the airplane. It also shows the dimensions that the carry-on should be. What happens if the plane was too small for the dimensions they state my bag had to be? Isn't United responsible if they don't have room for my bag?

Continental's flight was delayed leaving Killeen due to a mechanical problem on the inbound flight. As a result, my son and granddaughter would miss their connection from Houston to Ontario, CA. No coach seats were available on later Continental flights out of Houston for two days. Continental charged an additional $638.00 (for which I paid) for them to fly the same evening out of Houston on a later flight in first class. By doing this, Continental refused to abide by their own Contract of Carriage which states:
    E) Schedule Irregularity 1) Liability - Except to the extent provided in this Rule and the Warsaw and/or Montreal Conventions, CO shall not be liable for any Schedule Irregularity. 2) Delay, Misconnection or Cancellation a) When a Passengers ticket is affected because of a Schedule Irregularity caused by CO, CO will take the following measures: (i) Transport the Passenger on its own flights, subject to availability, to the Destination, next Stopover point, or transfer point shown on its portion of the Ticket, without Stopover in the same class of service, at no additional cost to the Passenger, provided that a Passenger who paid a Coach fare may only be transported on a flight in First Class or Business First Class Service subject to seat availability and if such flight will provide an earlier arrival than COs next flight on which coach space is available. In short, Continental extorted an additional $638 to transport my kids on a later flight due to their problem.

I booked my flight online. The website booked us for the wrong return flight as we would still be on the cruise ship when the flight it booked us for was leaving. We didn't even look at this flight. I called United and was told by representative after representative there was nothing that could be done unless I paid $150/ticket change fee. Finally after numerous calls they waived the change fee (Tech support couldn't prove the web hadn't changed it and confirmed they have had this problem before, but insisted it was fixed now). They said the only flight available was a 5 pm flight, which was fine but there was a $122 fee because this flight was more expensive. I asked if there were other flights that wouldn't have this and was told no. I had them changed it and asked if there would be any additional fees and they said this included everything. I then called numerous people to waive this $122 fee since we had originally booked this flight and it wasn't $122 more. Nobody could do anything so I emailed the CEO. He had a gentleman call me but when I talked to him he said there was nothing he could do. I emailed the CEO again who had Ginger Staffeldt contact me. She was able to change our flight to another flight that worked for us and didn't have the $122 charge. She also confirmed that there would be no other charges or fees. We showed up to the airport and they wanted to charge us $15/bag for excessive baggage fees. I asked the the rep said this was disclosed on our confirmation, but when I showed him that it wasn't on there he just walked away. I called Ms. Staffeldt who did not return my call. We were charged this on the return flight so we ended up paying $30/person more. I again emailed the CEO when we got back and left numerous messages for Ms. Staffeldt. Finally a lady named Ruth called and said she couldn't do anything about it. I continued writing and calling and a resolution manager called. She told me there was nothing they could/would do and that the fee was disclosed to me. I asked her when this happened and she said it had been disclosed in the media last Spring and it was hidden on their website. She confirmed that she did not review the two calls in which I was told there was no such fee and also confirmed that it doesn't tell you about this fee during the booking process. She then said this issue was closed and they would not call me back. I have heard nothing more. So we have a resolution manager who acknowledged she wouldn't look into the actual issue by reviewing the calls -- how ironic and representative of United's service.

Son's grandma purchased his ticket over the net. Before confirming purchase system did not give disclosure regarding unaccompanied minor nor did it disclose the $150 fee she needed to pay. Day of flight Continental continued to call grandma asking her to check my son in. I checked him in on my end and nothing indicated that the flight was going to cancel. We checked the flight info prior to leaving to the airport. We arrived in the airport two hours before departure and as soon as we got off the elevator and looked at the flight screen all three flights to NWK on Continental were cancelled. All other flights with other carriers to the same destination were all on time.
I went to the counter to see what needed to happen with the cancelled flight. First Continental flight was very condescending and not helpful at all when I explained to her that the tickets were purchased by his grandma and I didn’t know I needed to bring his birth certificate and extra money to pay $150 for him to travel. I left the counter to explain to grandma what happened. When I went back to the counter to figure this whole thing out the so-called supervisor stated the same thing the 1st continental rep indicated. I was trying to get him to help me explain all of this to grandma. He refused to get on my cell phone to help us out. I pleaded and he stated "I'm the supervisor and I am not getting on anyone else's phone to talk to anyone's grandmother". It wasn’t until another Continental rep (older women) had heard my plea and she took the phone and kindly explained everything to grandma. I could have taken the supervisors refusal to get on my cell phone many ways. Was it because I was a woman. Was it because he may have thought I was black (I'm Puerto Rican)...what could have made him so afraid of taking my phone and helping us out??? The older women who also worked for Continental wasn't "afraid" to help us out???? After almost four hours at the airport we finally got my son a flight to go out on Monday, 22nd. Crazy this all sounds how about it's even crazier that my nephew’s girlfriend was also cancelled out of her flight and she waited around and eventually was booked on another Continental flight going to NWk. The same night!!!???!!!??? How incredible is this when we sat and stood at the counter for hours to be told no other flight was going out to NWK for Friday night??? He was booked on a Monday flight and to my amazement I was given a hard time at the counter once again. The Continental rep was not as condescending as the first two I dealt with on Friday but she didn’t read all the notes on the system before she asked me for the $150.00 for the unaccompanied minor fee. This was all paid for on Friday. All of this waiting almost caused my son to miss his flight. He was the last one to board the flight because of course we had to wait in line for security clearance. I had kindly asked to security guard if there was any way my son can get into another lane to go quicker through security because the plane had already boarded and he was the last to board. The guard said no you are like everyone else you can get back in line. Once again, the attitude here is who cares you spent all those hours on Friday, who cares you spend so much money to be cancelled on and THEN to have attitude from the counter person, a counter person supervisor and now a security guard. Who cares????? Definitely NOT, NOT Continental!! I will never EVER E-V-E-R fly Continental!!! EVER!!! On my way I out of the airport I made sure I told everyone that listed my story with Continental. I told everyone at my job. I posted it on numerous websites. I will make sure that everyone I come in contact with is aware of the poor, POOR service you receive from Continental. I'm sure out of all the people I speak with it will only take one to take what I say seriously and that’s one less person that will fly Continental. One less can accumulate trust me. Continental is only in business because of us regular folks who not have other means to get to their destinations. Thanks Continental for stressing me out before getting to work and making my son nervous to fly today. Thank you!!

Unless there is a secret telephone number and you know what it is there is no way you're going to talk to someone in this Country. I ended up speaking to someone in INDIA !!! I don't know the person's name as when he identified himself it sounded like a bunch of mumbling just like everything else he said. When I asked him to slow down he totally ignored me and went on mumbling. I am well aware of the consequences of dealing with out of the country people as they are just about the only people you can speak to when having computer problems. It's no wonder our great Country is going down hill... we have to depend upon foreigners for information and rarely do you get acurate information. I'm just venting... I know there is probably nothing you can do about it but, if enough people complain maybe things will change....I CAN ONLY HOPE! In closing, I'm reminded of a quote I read on the Internet.... Some weeks back I made reservations and purchased tickets (via phone) with Continental Airines' office in Oslo, Norway. I informed the agent at that time we would be traveling with our dog. I was instructed we'd have to contact Live Animals desk to do so. Well, a call from Norway to the U.S. office (Live Animals) didn't get us any closer to booking our dog. The agent there couldn't tell me what we'd have to pay as they hadn't a clue as to rates from an International point of departure. With new numbers in hand I contacted Roadfeeders to book (or so I thought) our dog. In talking with the agent at this company, in Oslo, I'm told they just send the booking form to me. I must complete the form and then forward it on to DHL to get her booked (NO information provided on how that's accomplished).
Long story short, after several weeks of playing e-mail and fax tag, we are finally informed that our Jack Russell's freight rate would be almost identical to my husband's and my round-trip tickets...and this was ONE-WAY!!! After picking myself up off the floor I called the Live Animals desk again to rant and rave a bit. Course we'd purchased non-refundable tickets. :-/ I'd read and re-read the information on the CO website...and there is zip about estimated costs, procedures, etc...they simply direct you to this help desk in the U.S. where you cannot get an answer if your life depended on it. We normally fly Lufthansa...so wouldn't you THINK the rates would be comparable to their competition? NOPE! There is just NO WAY we're going to pay more for a 10kg dog to fly than we have for our two tickets. I can't fathom a company coming up with a rate like this. I'm so disgusted I could scream (wait, I DID do that yesterday) between bites of Thanksgiving turkey. Numerous calls to CO have yielded no results...they simply refuse to issue us a refund. It's akin to being robbed, at least that's how we feel. As an American (married to a Norwegian), I thought it'd be nice to fly an American flag carrier...but I have to tell you we won't be back. After THIS fiasco, I'll stick with Lufthansa. We pay about $200USD round-trip, versus approximately $2300USD, for transport. This is insane! We'd hoped to be in the U.S. for Christmas, but we'll be lucky now to get there before we ring in 2009.

We could not check in on line for some reason so we contacted the airline to inquire, they told us that one of us was most likely flagged in security. Due to this we arrived at the airport earlier then we would have which was around 5am. We walked in to find a long line at the counter. We waited for about an hour when they posted on the board that the flight was canceled yet while we were standing in line, they would not inform us of this. Finally after about an hour and 20 minutes we got to the front of the line to see what they were going to do about it. First I asked what had happened to our flight and one person told me it was weather.. then the next person told me the ground crew didn't get enough sleep, seems to me like they knew this the night before but still made us be to the airport so early! Well they tried to accomodate us but we were told there was no more flights leaving from PBI and that they would limo us to Ft. Lauderdale to make a 7:15 flight on American Airlines which would layover in Vegas, they also said they were contacting the airline to let them know we were on our way. They put us in the limo at appx 6:15 with four other people. Lauderdale is about a 45 minute drive and myself being nieve, I thought they were going to hold the plane for us. HA! We arrive at 7am and American said that there was no way we were going to make it through security in 10 minutes and that they didn't know why continental would even do that. Well now we have no way to get home and no flight. American sent us to Continental (across the airport) who then said he couldn't do anything and sent us back to American!! American set us up on the next flight to go out at 1pm. We made it to San Diego at 6:30pm (9:30pm our time, a very loong day) which was supposed to be 10:30am California time. I paid FULL price for a ticket from Baltimore to Las Vegas. I pay for first class due to my long legs. I paid 863 dollars for a first class ticket and NEVR got first class service. First off, there was NO ELITE check in for security. I talked to TSA and they said too bad check with your airlines. it is out of our control. They told me to wait in line with the rest of the people. There were 600 people in line. Is this what I paid for first class. The people in front of me were in the same situation as well. I called Continental airlines and they told me there should be a line for check in for first class. I told them there was not and that TSA told me to call them. Continental then said it is out of their control and you will just have to wait like everyone else. First class...huh??
So I then wait for ever in line just to make the flight and when it is time to serve the meals on my flight they run out in first class. I asked the attendant what do you mean you ran out. She told me that they ALWAYS run out of meals by the 3rd row. She told me to keep in mind that the next time I book a flight to be in the first or second row or they will run out of food. I told her that was not posted on my ticket and that it may not be possible to get food with my first class ticket because of my seating position. She said it is no right but it ALWAYS happens. So now it is time for my return trip. Once again there is NO ELITE service for check in and have to wait in line with all the rest of the people. The flight was delayed 1 hour and of course no reason was given and of course no food either. Seems to be their motto. First class , with no first class services. Pay us 3 time the amount for your ticket and we will do nothing for you...It gets better. So at the end of my flight I decide to call to com[plain about all the poor treatment I received for the money. I get an agent and he listens to me and said lets be realistic, who do you think is the problem here, us or the government? Oh yes he said that to me!! TSA tells me in is the airlines problem, and Continental tells me that it is TSA problem. Here goes the blame game. Then the agent tells me that there is nothing he can do and it is not there problem. He then says I will check on something. 30 minutes later, (yes 30 minutes) A woman gets on the phone and asks me what the problem is. I asked her what happened to the agent I was talking to . She told me that he turned it over to her. I asked her what she knew about my problem; she said nothing, So I asked her If I had to tell the story all over again, she said yes!. I told her the whole deal again, and she was so rude and just said all she would do was put the complaint in and do nothing for me. She then told me if it was their hub you would have got the treatment for first class, but if it is not their hub you get NOTHING. So her is something she blamed on TSA again, and then said they have no control over it, and then told me they have control if it is their hub. Get the point? She also told me that I should gave called them to see if this treatment was available at a particular airport. So they know this upfront and do not tell you this , and then lie about it. So long story short ( I know it is past that)Continental does not care about you or first class people and uses excuses and the blame of TSA for their problems. They are a rip off and should not be used as an airlines for first class because you will get nothing and they do not want to hear your complaints. They actually tried to talk me out of my complaint ( no joke!)So for 900 dollars I got nothing but misery and no satisfaction whatsoever. Their customer service is of no use in any way! This must stop, if thaty was my report to my company I would fire someone for that treatment. Truely poor training and not wanting to do their job and try to resolve this. I will NEVER fly them again. There are far too many airlines that want my business. I use to fly with Continential 4 times a year; so now it is there loss of money and I will tell all my friends. See how one bad word gets around. I hope someone from the airlines reads this and pulls out the recording of my conversation with their customer agent.

Two were short hops from SF to LA, and from ORD to CLE. I had no interest in using resources to upgrade those short hops, but I did want to upgrade my flight from LA to ORD. No option allowed me to upgrade only the segment that interested me, so I bit the bullet and upgraded the entire trip for 15000 miles. I would have preferred to select just one leg and pay a lower fee that reflected the distance of just that flight. In the end, I was unable to hold the upgrade on the segment I wanted (First class checked in full on the LA to ORD segment and I was instructed to board and use my original seat.) That didn't bother me, but when I called United Customer Service to confirm that the miles would be returned to my account, I was told that since I'd already accepted the upgrade on the first hop, I would be charged the full amount, irrespective of whether I got the upgrade on the remaining two legs. What I'd like is simply for United to return the 15000 miles to my account (or at least the portion that represents a proportionate amount of the trip I took, less the portion for which I actually did receive an upgrade). Or I'd be satisfied if United would change the language of the offer being made to customers to say, Gamble your miles in an attempt to upgrade to First Class. ---v

I booked non-stop air travel through Travelocity fopr myself and my fiance to fly on United Airlines going from Las Vegas, NV to Philadelphia, PA on February 1, 2008. I purposely paid more to get non-stop service($194.42/person). Two months after I booked this travel I was contacted by Travelocity that there was a change in my reservation. I contacted Travelocity and was informed that my flight had been canceled and that I was being put on a different flight that had one stop/layover. The flight that I was now on was only $139.00 per person according to Travelocity's website. I went round and round with TRavelocity but to no avail so I contacted United Airlines myself. I wrote a letter to the President/CEO Glenn F. Tilton describing the problem and requested a refund of the difference between the two tickets. I received a response back from my letter by someone else who I don't even know who they are saying itis airline policy to issue a credit not a refund. I specifically stated in my letter that I have no need for a credit since I have no further air travel plans. Therefore, a credit is of no use to me. I don't understand how it is that the airlines are the only business I have ever heard of that can not issue a refund. Don't they have checkbooks? Isn't it illegal to give someone a lesser product at a higher price and then keep their money? How do they get away with this? Any other reputable business would issue a refund. This is just another case of the hard-working middle class getting ripped off. I could understand this more if I was the one to change/cancel the reservation but they did it, therefore they should honor my wishes and issue a refund.

I am extremely disappointed by the lack of assistance and cooperation provided by Continental Airlines. I booked a travel ticket with Continental Airlines several months ago, to fly from Colorado to Houston, TX, to spend time with my mother, step father, and sister for a pre-holiday visit. My trip was to take place from Nov. 8th through Nov. 16th. On Nov. 2nd, my wifes grandmother passed away. She was in the US Army during WWII as a flight instructor here in the USA, and therefore, will be awarded military honors at Ft Logan Cemetery in Colorado on Nov. 10th. Unfortunately, this is when I was scheduled to be in Houston with my family. I contacted Continental Airlines to inform them of this unfortunate conflict, and they informed me that it was too bad this happened, and that for a $150 change fee plus the increase in the airfare, I could re-book my ticket. Unfortunately, I am not in a position to pay another $1,000 to change the ticket to see my family. Therefore, Im left with the choice of 1) attending the funeral of my wifes grandmother or 2) going to see my family, which I have not been able to see for two years. Continental wouldnt even consider a re-scheduling of a flight, unless I paid them an additional $1,000 (approx.). This is very disappointing. I will not fly this airline ever again. They should be reprimanded for this lack of customer service.
I would like to see Continental Airlines be more accommodating in times of family loss. Their lack of compassion is despicable

Continental Airlines policy regarding duty free liquor purchases from South American airports cost a number of passengers money and cost Continental airlines a number of unhappy customers on October 21, 2008. I bought two bottles of Scotch at the Guatemala airport. It was packed in a duty free sealed container and I picked it up as I boarded the flight in Antigua. When I got off at Houston to go through customs and transfer to my San Francisco connection, a woman in a blue uniform greeted me as I excited the flight and advised me that my duty free needed to go in my carry on luggage. So I put it in my back pack and proceeded to security and customs. Of course I got stopped at security where they told me I couldn't carry any liquid over 3.4 oz. I told them a woman in a blue uniform had informed me that I was to do this. They said to go talk to Continental. So I did. And I found two other passengers from other connecting flights from Latin America in the same situation. Continental was not sympathetic. They said the woman I talked to couldn't possibly exist. They told me it would cost me $25 for them to properly package my Scotch and ship it through. Since I had already given Continental $75 in overage weight I was feeling gouged again. We asked to speak to the supervisor. A young man named Cory Guidry talked with us. He identified himself as a Team Leader (I don't know what team) and refused to give us the name of his supervisor. He was very argumentative, unsympathetic, and treated us all like we were idiots. He refused to cover the $25 charge. So I ended up paying $25 for Continental to put my duty free purchase in a big plastic bag, stick a "fragile" sticker on it and send it through as I had no choice if I wanted to make my connnecting flight to SFO. When I got home I called the Continental "WE CARE" number. It became clear that it's really the "WE DON'T CARE" number. The woman I spoke with was skillfully trained in the art of the sympathetic murmur, but absolutely powerless to do anything. Any suggestion I had, such as, "Why don't you have your flight attendants announce the policy on duty free liquid so passengers know how to do handle liquids right?" was deemed impossible by her. She stated flight attendants could not do this because "TSA is always changing its rules". In addition to this issue, I had a mileage problem. The flight to Guatemala was originally a United flight, but then United gave up its routes to Guatemala. Continental then became our only choice. SFO Continental assured me they would give me the United mileage. But Continental didi not and the "WE CARE" lady was powerless to help me again. It was a fruitless conversation which left me feeling stronger than ever that I will never fly Continental again. And don't even get me going about the food on the flight. Fried chicken sandwich and a hamburger that caused the passenger next to me to vomit. I filed complaint #3855746" for what it was worth. I will return to Guatemala, -- but not on Continental.

Every single time I fly with United, they cook up some way of creating an error that winds up costing ME. They've reversed my destinations on flights (and then tried to charge me to correct it), charged me twice for a single checked bag, assured me that I would have a hotel voucher on the other end of a delayed flight only to not have one, etc., etc., etc. I'm really concerned about their kiosks, which I am certain are designed to confuse customers and result in double or extraneous charges.

I remember once being charged for extra leg room, when that is what I didn't want (the system was set up to assume that you wanted the extra leg room and it was very unclear that you were agreeing to that, then suddenly you were charged), and the baggage check within the kiosk is also very confusing. It's my theory that United deliberately makes the kiosk user interface confusing so that people wind up charged for things they don't want, are double charged, etc., since United seems to be pretty clearly into charging customers for their own mistakes. Has anyone ever looked into this?

I recently took a trip to Las Vegas using Continental Airlines and was initially going to stay for 5 days. The day my significant other and I were supposed to leave, I had a change of heart and called in to see how much it would cost to delay our tickets by a few days. After speaking with a rep there for roughly 30 minutes, he came back on and said it would be around 355.00 dollars total for all the fees and the change in the airfare. It came out to about 178.99 per ticket. It seemed reasonable so I went ahead and let him take down my credit card information. I asked several times, and he assured me that the price was correct.

I came back on the new flight, and checked out my credit card statement, only to discover that along with the 2 charges of 178.99, there was a total of 250.00 in additional charges. Obviously there had been an error, so I called in to talk to their customer service line. The first person I spoke with was rather kind and sympathetic to the situation, but had no ability to refund any of the charges, so he referred me to a manager. She had a negative attitude towards me from the start, told me that the charges were valid fees, and blamed me for not knowing the policy of Continental Airlines. I was shocked, and told her that of all people, her employees should know exactly what those policies are. I had asked him several times, yet he still misquoted the charges by 250 dollars! She said that that was not possible and I must have misheard what he said since I was in Las Vegas and it was probably loud where I was (not every place in Las Vegas is blaring with sound 24/7). She continued to place the blame on my end and offered a gift certificate to help get me off her hands.

The conversation went on for about 20 minutes or so, and she put me on hold to talk to one of the other agents. I waited for about 30 minutes while she did her work, and I fully expected her to come back on and say no refund was being issued to me. I was angry at this point and ready to really rip into her. To my surprise though, she came back on the line and stated: "apparently we've been having this problem lately and it is due to new agents and a lack of training." Wow! She let me know that the charges were going to be refunded, but also said I should have read up better on the flight cancellation policies of the airlines. She still wanted me to accept part of the blame for something that was completely their fault. I understand that passengers should know that there will be fees in the event that plans change, but I would expect the airline employees to know those policies a little more in depth than the customers would. She offered a halfhearted apology and let me know that the refund would credit in 7-10 business days.

All in all it was a rather unpleasant experience, and the second rep really made me feel that I was nothing more than a random jackass trying to get some extra money back. Customer service was certainly not her strong suit. After dealing with this airline, I will more than likely look elsewhere when I book my next flight.

I am outrage at how can a company keeps on raising the price on a service given to us as a passenger in which they, as a company, have no hands on at all (Is it a dog or cat? How cute! - is all that comes out of their mouth) and no one that has the authority has even check on this policy or try to even consider re-evaluating it. I'm paying for my carrying on dog more than I'm paying for my own round trip ticket. Its fee is more than a child under two, which a child requires more attention and it's more annoying than my carry on dog which is stuck underneath a seat (sorry moms and dads) and no one knows that is even there during the whole flight until I take him out to leave the plane. I'm not allowed to bring another carry on because my dog counts as a carry on even though he is paying for himself (you know what I mean).

So as people are allowed two carry on, I'm only allowed one. Policies and rules have changed regarding baggage, carry on and other types of mandatory post 911 safeties, which I see as a good thing. But this policy which is charging more for a carry on in which a company has no contact with, no type of interaction, as a rule it seems it wants it out of sight of everyone else on flight and it changes its policy on my personal carry on rules because it counts my paying carry on as one of my personal carry on. If my pet was going through cargo and they were handling it all the way. I would pay them any kind of fee they would come up with, but can you see my outrage.

THEY ARE NOT DOING TO HELP ME OR MY PET FEEL MORE COMFORTABLE AS A PAYING PASSENGERS, BUT CHANGING AND TWEAKING THE RULES FOR EVERYONE ELSE AROUND US. This is how I feel. Does anyone out there have any authority to try to see if this policy can be re-evaluated and changed to a fee that is suitable for the service that we are giving? Thank you. It went from $60 each way to $125 in three or four years.

Ok - this is a dispute over a paltry $50 but its really the principle of the matter.

I flew from London to Boston (via Cleveland) on continental airlines. In Cleveland I had a 4 hour layover and noticed that there was an earlier flight to Boston. I went to the service desk and asked about getting on this earlier flight. I was told that for $50 I could try and fly standby on the early flight, however I was also told at this point that I would only be charged the $50 fee if I was able to board the early flight. I gave the agent my card to swipe and was given a receipt and a stand by boarding pass.

I waited at the gate for the earlier flight, but upon boarding was told by the gate agent there that the flight was full and they were not boarding any stand-by passengers. I showed her my receipt and boarding pass and again asked if I would be charged the $50 and she told me that no since I didn't board the flight the airline would not charge me the $50 fee.

I then boarded my original flight and headed home to Boston. Much to my dismay, several days afterwards I noticed that continental airlines had charged me the $50 fee, for the flight that I hadn't taken.

I was incredibly annoyed having been charged a fee that I was told twice by continental staff members that I wouldn't be charged and for a service that I did not receive.

I emailed the company (phoning was not an option - I tried to get through 8 times but could never get to a person) After almost 4 weeks I had a reply to my email - It stated a service fee is charged for each ticket changed, and that since a change did occur, we are unable to process a refund.

What I would like to reiterate is that a change DID NOT occur. I was unable to board the earlier flight and flew on my original flight to Boston. It states on the continental web site (a direct quote from the frequently asked questions section) -

If I fly stand by, but do not clear and end up taking my original flight, will I be charged? No. You will only be charged if you ultimately clear a seat assignment on a flight other than your original flight.

I do not understand why I was charged a fee when I did not get a seat assignment on any other flight - I flew on my original flight! I want to emphasize that had I known that I was simply being charged $50 to fly on the flight that I had already paid for and was originally scheduled to take I would never have let the airline touch my credit card!

Continental doesn't seem to want to check their records and see if they made a mistake. I have written two letters, and emailed them four times, and finally I'm just trying to get my credit card company to sort it out.

It does make me wonder though how many other people they do this to, that either don't notice the charge, or can't be bothered fighting it.

I was set to fly early Monday, 9/15. Hurricane Ike hit the Houston area on Friday night, 9/12. On Saturday, 9/13, Continental turned their reservation phone lines off rather than assisting customers. I called their number all weekend long and the message said We can not take your call at this time Click and it hung up.

The continental.com website was not much better. It offered me to change my flight, a 6hr. flight, to a new flight which was a 36 HOUR FLIGHT. That was not an option for me. On Sunday, 9/14, their phones were still turned off. The website showed that the flight from West Palm Beach to Houston was still scheduled, but the connection to Los Angeles was cancelled. On Monday morning as I was set to fly, I still could not get thru to continental. This was a business flight for me. Thus I had no option other than to book a flight with another airline to L.A. thru another city. On Friday, 9/19, I was set to return to West Palm Beach. I phoned continental the day before to confirm my flight. During my 48 miute phone cal to them, they told me that I could not use my return flight ticket. They stated that this was a round trip ticket I purchased. Because I did not use the first leg of the trip ticket, this was no longer a valid round trip ticket. They said the original flight from PBI to LAX went as scheduled. I had no means to verify this.

I was advised that my return trip ticket was not valid because I was changing my return flight to a one-way flight. To do this, I had to pay a $100 change fee to change the ticket from a round trip ticket to a one-way ticket, plus the change of fare was $129 additional for a one-way flight. This was the exact flight that I purchased my original ticket on. This was the flight I was scheduled to return on. And now I have to re-purchase my ticket with a change fee to ride on the same plane.

I had a place to stay in Belize for free, so an additional day would not have been an issue. Continental confirmed both of my return flights both online AND via a call to customer service with no delays. The departure from Belize City (flight 1652) was an hour late - not the end of the world by any means, but left us going through customs a tight haul.

Upon arrival to Houston we literally RAN through the airport, customs, baggage claim and re-check in record time. We made it to the designated gate for flight 467 to Seattle only to se the reader board switching from Seattle to Sacramento. We were instructed to visit the nearest customer service desk along with the 100+ other passengers that were now stranded in a city with no available hotels and no services in or outside of the airport as there was marshal law and a city wide curfew issued for hurricane Ike. The 'customer service' representative we spoke with told us the soonest flight to Seattle was 24 hours later and she could not guarantee us a seat on that flight. There was however a flight leaving within an hour to Portland but she could not offer us the first class seats we had paid for - we could address the cost difference directly with Continental once we got home. We were told our luggage would be in Seattle by 9am the next morning (can get my luggage to Seattle but can't get me there?).

We opted for the Portland flight with a three hour drive and a $150.00 rental car. Today when I called Continental 'Customer Service' I was not only told that I get to eat the cost of the rental car, but I also get to eat the cost of the first class tickets I paid for but never got to use. What recourse do I have to ask Continental to give me what I paid for? Sorry none, suffer, thanks for doing business with us, be sure to look us up next time you want a vacation ruined! We all checked in to different places and had to wait 8-10 minutes for a ticketing agent to check our ID's and attach our claim tags to our bags. We had to beg someone to come and help us and the guy wasn't very happy at being called away from his area.

Guess what. He put my tag on someone else's bag. It is now a week and I still haven't received my bag. It totally ruined a trip in many ways. Even more frustrating, is that United sent a bag (via Air Canada) saying they had found my bag and would bring it up. Well, it arrived the next morning. It was the mistaken bag with my claim check- different color and definitely belonging to someone else. I asked the complaint center (which I understand is in India) to notify Montreal, Dulles and LA regarding the location of my still missing bag. It has orange and white survey ribbon as a big bow on the handle- and is black if anyone sees it.

I also asked them to pick up the bag mistakenly taken to my hotel in Montreal. It took them 40 hours to pick up that bag, after repeated calls and a call to the owner of the bag (which I had found by looking at all the tags.) So, I am still searching for my bag. It could be anywhere, but it seems like it should be easy to find who else got the wrong bag who traveled out of LA, during that same time period. That person got my bag.

Please United, I really want my bag. I am sure its the only one out there now with an orange and white bow. This was really incompetence. Now watch if I file a claim, they will undoubtedly try to tell me they only need to pay the $1000 since I was on an international flight vs. the $3000 domestic even though the mistake was made in LA, and they have no proof my luggage ever went to Canada. On 4 Sep 08 I took a flight from Boston to Burbank alone with my two children, ages 1 and 2 (I purchased 3 tickets). When I got to the gate I was surprised to find that United did not offer pre-boarding for those traveling with small children. I asked the woman working at the service counter if I could pre-board as I was alone with my children, or if I could at least have some assistance in carrying the carseats down to my row. The response I received was 'I have 2 children too and you just have to deal with it'. Needless to say, I received no assistance from United down to my seat as I gate checked my stroller, carried 2 carseats, 2 babies, a diaper bag and a backpack. We are lucky nobody got injured in the process of manuevering down the narrow aisles. I also received no help from the crew upon exiting the plane. On our stopover our flight was delayed and it was the same process all over again, no assistance from United.

I was excited to arrive at my final destination and leave the whole horrible experience behind me. I retrieved my bags, only to find one was missing. They said they would deliver it by noon the next day to my home. So, off I went to my car only to find that they had somehow damaged my double stroller so it would no longer collapse. We folded down the back seats since that was the only way it would fit and rode home. Since there was no longer room for me due to the stoller issues, I rode home sitting on the floor between my children's seats. At noon my bags had still not arrived, so I called United. They stated that they were out for delivery and would be there by 230pm. By 600pm my bags were still not there. We are now at 2 days since we arrived at home and I still do not have my bag.

When I call the customer service line, they put me on hold so they can call the Burbank airport. In the four times I have called nobody has picked up the phone at Burbank. On my travel to Boston from Burbank I flew with American Airlines and they went above and beyond to help me. They pre-boarded us, carried the carseats for me, and even occupied my children while I installed the carseats on the plane. They even told me that when I needed to go to the restroom to just ring the buzzer so they could keep an eye on my children. American (and a few other carriers) also have infant changing tables in their bathrooms, where United does not.

I am a frequent flyer. On average we fly cross- country 6 times per year (24 round trip tickets). In all my years of frequent travel, I had never had such a horrible experience as I have with United. I have never had such poor customer service and would be willing to pay more for a ticket to avoid this airline. I will definately tell everyone I know with families to never use this carrier.

This experience has made me never want to travel again (I am completely serious). They also broke my double stroller (Peg Perego Aria twin, $330) and my luggage has been missing for 2 days. I have none of my toiletries and most of my regular clothing is missing (it was a 3 wk trip).

My wife and I were confirmed business first class passengers on the Continental flight departing Bush Intercontinental airport on Thursday August 7 2008 at 3.00pm. After spending a leisure hour in the Presidents lounge we duly reported for boarding at the appropriate time. However, we were advised to take a comfortable seat and await the call for boarding. After a delay of several minutes without communication and with some trepidation and concern we approached the ticket podium. We were advised that our plane had been commandeered to accommodate passengers from an earlier flight (CO 62) and an attempt would be made to secure our seats in the tourist class section despite our confirmed first business class reservations.

The ticket agent, overwhelmed with accommodating passengers, had completely forgotten about us! Had we not approached the podium we would probably have been completely ignored and missed our connecting flight to Tel Aviv from Newark. This egregious situation is totally unacceptable and simply indicates the disrespect Continental Airlines has for its loyal customers. Perhaps this information should be conveyed to Fortune Magazine and JD Powers to permit them to obtain a true assessment of Continental Airlines` disregard for their passengers. With the commandeering of our airline without notification and treating us with blatant disrespect, our confidence in Continental airlines is rapidly being eroded.

Recently I booked a one-way ticket for two people from Fort Lauderdale Fl. to Houston I was driving from Houston to Florida on vacation in a rental car which I planned to drop off in Fort Lauderdale and fly back. Because of the increase of storms in the atlantic I decided to cancel the trip. When I first made the reservation I asked what the cancelation policy was I was assured by the reservation agent that I would be issued a credit that I could use at any time up to a year for future travel.

The problem arised when I tried to cancel the flight and was told if I wanted to rebook I would be charged a $150.00 doller rebooking fee per ticket. The original price per ticket was $129.50 which means that not only would my ticket be worthless I would be charged $20.50 for rebooking plus even though I paid for the tickets with my visa I would not be allowed to use my credit in what ever way I wanted.

They do state in very small print on the e-mail of my reservation that there my or may not be a booking charge for rebooking. But if you go to their web-site you will find no mention any where what the charge will be plus when I ask an agent directly what the policy was she neglected to inform me but when i try to reschedule they suddenly were very informed on the subject and also extremly rude.

I have tried to resolve this problem with continetal airlines customer service department to no avail. I also tried to dispute the charges with my credit card company which also would not help.

While on the cruise ship, we purchased a collector bottle of Jack Daniels (3 liter) which is not sold in the US. We questioned the duty-free store as to the safety of getting this home undamaged, as liquor can no longer be carried on a plane and must be packed in the checked luggage. The vendor told us to bring her some towels and soft clothing items, which she proceeded to pack around the bottle of liquor. She then placed this into a cardboard box and sealed it with packing tape. She assured us that this was safer than even bubble wrap.

When we got our luggage off the plane at Newark Airport, the box and bottle were smashed and all the contents of the suitcase were soaked in liquor. We filed a claim with Continental Airlines, only to find that they will not cover any of our loss because their policy is not to cover any perishable/liquid items damaged by them. Carnival cruise ship will not reimburse us either, as they stated it was the fault of the airline carrier. Ultimately, no one will cover the loss we have incurred.

The bottle of liquor, which we would really like to have cost us $130, and the clothes and shoes damaged in the suitcase is a loss of approximately $450. We are hoping there is someway to get reimbursement for our loss.

I had my worst flight on 29 August 2008 and that was with United Airlines, coming from W.D.C.Dulles Airport to London. The flight was delayed for nearly 2 hours and combined with the insufficient leg room and the instruction not to leave your seats you can imagine how uncomfortable one would have been. Flight attendants and in particular one male attendant was extremely and unbelievably rude towards me. The story was that having pressed the bell to ask for drinking water but was neglected for 15 minutes by the attendants, who were chatting away and laughing among themselves, I had to ask the attendants to come to me.

One of them eventually came and upon my request for water brought me a very small glass of warm water. After drinking a sip decided I could not drink the water and went to request for a more refreshing water perhaps from a fridge. A male attendant in a very very rude manner told me to go and sit in my seat as they were busy and could not give me water at that moment. They were not busy at all; 2 of them were sitting and the third one, the male one, standing and all three of them were talking and joking, that was the reason they were busy!

When I objected to him that he had no right to speak to me in that manner he became more aggressive and told me to go and seat OR I would not be on that flight. He asked me in a threatening voice: Do YOU want to be in this flight or not? I replied of course I do. GO AND SIT DOWN THEN. I returned to my seat and requested to see the head attendant. It was not until 20 minutes later that I had another half glass of warm water, and the aircraft did not take off for another 25 minutes. I could not believe it that a person as rude and impolite as that male attendant still had a job.The head attendant came and listened to my complaint and was very sympathetic and told me she understood and apologized to me.

A month after the incident I am still upset and can not forget what happened to me and have now decide to let other people know of the poor service that United Airlines provides. I did not tell my two children of my very unpleasant experience with the United Airlines as they had paid for the tickets and had treated me to the trip to the United States. I loved America and enjoyed my time there. Next time, I will undoubtedly travel with another airline. Since my horrible experience I have been advising my friends and relatives against travelling with the United Airlines.

On May 12, 2008, I purchased air travel of three legs through United for: 1) a trip from Chicago (ORD) to Washington (DCA), Aug. 4, 2008, United 616; a trip from Washington, DC (DCA) to Montreal (YUL), Aug 6, 2008, United 8381; and 3) a trip back from Montreal (YUL) to Chicago (ORD), Aug 8, 2008, United 7597. All service was economy. The charge for this ticket was $890.56.

On the day of the initial leg, Flight #616 was cancelled due to weather, and United was unable to put me on a flight to Washington before the next day. This effectively eliminated the purpose of my Washington visit. Accordingly, I reached United reservations by telephone and asked to convert this ticket to a round trip between Chicago and Montreal, economy, and I thought this was done. Indeed, I traveled the next day (August 5) from Chicago to Montreal and returned on the originally booked flight on August 8.

Since a round trip between Chicago and Montreal was $486 at the time of my booking, I believe I am owed a refund (from $890.56, equaling $404.56). I realize that United was not responsible for the weather, which created the initial cancellation, but this seems a simple case of fairness and logic. My attempts at achieving this goal by telephone to various United agents was nightmarish. After two long waits to speak to a human being, I was told each time that I somehow was diverted to the wrong person (although each was recommended by the previous agent).

I was finally connected (after more than an hour on the phone) to an agent who spoke such poor English and with such a heavy Indian accent that he was practically incomprehensible. (Shame on United for employing such people as telephone agent. Or was this simply a cynical attempt to discourage further efforts on my part?) All I got from him (I think) was the sense that he could do nothing for me.

I then complained to United customer service via their website on Aug 12, and the next day received an e-mail reply telling me that United instead booked this as two one way tickets (why?) which magically came to the total of my original booking of the three-legged flight ($890.56). I immediately responded that this was unacceptable, because I asked for and should have received a round-trip booking.

I received an e-mail reply on Aug. 15 telling me that the matter has now been referred and so the Refunds Department will review your request and process your applicable refunds accordingly.? I waited 10 days, having received nothing from the Refunds Department, and wrote again asking for a resolution. The e-mail response came the next day with the explanation: Currently, our Refunds Department are experiencing a high volume of emails and as a result, your continued patience is much appreciated.? It has now been 4 weeks since I initiated this complaint, and there is still no resolution. I find this unacceptable and wish both to register a severe criticism of United Airlines and their handling of this matter as well as any help you can provide to resolve this. Thank you.

i was on a flight from Newark, NJ to Portland, OR. 8/9/08 with my wife and 7 year old daughter. About 1 hr into the flight, the flight attendants were starting their "meal" service. Long story short, they skipped my wife's meal. I was sitting on the isle seat, second to last isle in the plane. and turned around hoping to see the aft galley attendant with the box in hand to deliver to my wife. She continued servicing the rest of the plane. No big deal, it's just one of those box Jimmy Dean breakfast bagel things.

Anyway, the flight attendant was making her way from the rear galley to the other flight attendant who was 10 or so rows towards the front of the plane with cart service. As she went by, i said "excuse me" and TAPPED her on her shoulder to get her attention (it was very noisy ). I said that she skipped my wife's meal - well i tried telling her her, but couldn't finish my sentence. She had a pot of coffee in her hand, she swung around and SHOUTED "dont you EVER touch a flight attendant with a pot of coffee, this is HOT COFFEE.... and continued shouting at me for about 20 or so seconds. I was dumbfounded. Everyone in the back of the plane was in awe, as i and my family, that this flight attendant was going off on me.

Anyway, she gives the other attendant the pot, storms back the the galley delivers the meal, then continues her assult for another 20 or so seconds. I was in shock, my wife and my daughter visibly upset. All i could say is "are you kidding me" over and over i kept saying "your kidding me right, are you serious. I demanded her name and employee id, she flat out told me NO and walked away towards the other flight attendant, who now was gaining the attention of this situation. The 2 attendants were talking, and as they were, the other flight attendant was looking at me, then at her, and i could see her mouthing "he HIT you? he HIT you?

I looked at my wife in disbelief, she is telling the other flight attendant (fa from now on) that i hit her... are you kidding me...? So the other fa comes over to me and asks me what happened. I calmly told her and she offered me the continental's complaint phone number, i asked her for the fa name and employee#. she told me that she didn't have to divulge that info, but gave me her name, and told me how to go about filing a complaint. I denied hitting the other fa, and asked her to ask any nearby passenger who was telling the truth. she asked the gentleman across the isle, and he confirmed to her that i did not, in fact, hit that fa. YES i thought, i have a witness!

Well, they wound up moving the fa from the aft galley to the front of the plane. I was totally calm during this ordeal- the only thing i kept on saying is "are you kidding me? Anyway, the fa would come by from time to time, asking me if i was ok- i told her it is what it is- im still filing a complaint, but it's over and done with. I planned on sleeping during this flight, but couldn't because i was so shocked. My wife was shaking, and my 7 year daughter, who witnessed everything, kept on asking questions about the "mean woman".

Just when i thought it was over, about 1 hr before landing, the fa asks me to the aft galley, and hands me a paper saying "i know this is over and you are not a threat, but we have to do things by the book here." the paper explained to me that i had interfered with a flight attendant, and failure to stop would result in my arrest. No biggie, it was over an it was "all good" in my opinion. I was still going to file a report, but surely this would be the end. NOt so. She told me that because the other fa was filing a report that would state i hit her, that she told the captain, and he radioed ahead and that the authorities would be waiting for me at the jetway. ARE YOU KIDDING ME- I told the fa "she is sticking to her story that i hit her, even though you asked a passenger and he told yo that i didn't- I said, are you going to file a report? she said she didn't have to. i said, well you better, because you are my only witness to the fact that a passenger who saw the exchange told you i didn't hit her.

So as we landed, 2 of Portland's finest, and an FBI agent met my family (imagine the look on my daughter's face) and interrogated me and my wife for 1/2 hour or so. By the way, the passengers behind us volunteered to give the police an account of the whole ordeal on my behalf, because they couldn't believe how i was treated. We gave our statements and left, still in shock. Was this all a bad dream? not a chance. Never have i been treated so rudely and with such disrespect in all my life. I have a police report id# as well as a continental airlines report file #. I haven't heard back from them yet. I called their customer complaint # as soon as i got to my brothers house and tried to enjoy our vacation...

I called mileage plus telephone to arrange a ticket for her and was denied a ticket because of availability.

I asked the agent if there was any availability on either the day before Sept 12 or after and she said there was not. I then asked if there was anytime in the same week and again was told there was no availability. I then asked if I could buy another ticket and was told I could on any of those days- interesting apparently [they] have plenty of availability just none that United will let me use my mileage for.

I cannot have my daughter travel internationally to another new country on her own. I am really disheartened by this and am wondering if it really pays to travel by UA. I purchased two round-trip first-class tickets from United Airlines on April 3, 2008 for a trip in September 2008. I specifically chose this flight because the seats 1 H&J (bulkhead) were available on the 9 hour flight to and from Honolulu from Chicago. I have my confirmation that clearly shows these seats as confirmed.

I received an automated phone call on August 25, 2008 saying there was a change in my itinerary -- they had changed the departure times on each flight by about two minutes. But that caused my seats to be re-assigned and I lost the first row that I had originally confirmed. When I called I talked first to reservations (for about 45 minutes) to no avail. She transferred me to customer service where I talked to two separate people who in the end said they couldn't help me but would offer me $25 vouchers or 100 miles! This for $4300 worth of tickets! I will never fly with United again. Be careful - the seats you pick can be yanked right out from under you.

My carry-on bag was checked at the San Antonio United gate and placed under the aircraft due to boarding a smaller United aircraft that didn't have the overhead space. That was ok since I already had it green tagged. The first leg stopped at WASH/Dulles and I didn't notice then that I had the wrong bag until I arrived at Syracuse NY (destination) and found that the bag I had was not my bag. I took it to the Syracuse Baggage Claims and they verified it belonged to an international traveler (still at Dulles) who had my bag and was without proper identification (it was all in the bag I had, passport, money etc). I gave Syracuse Baggage Claim office his bag and I was led to believe the individual at Dulles gave my bag to United there. I started my tracking paperwork at Syracuse for my bag.

During my awaiting my final leg from Dulles to Syracuse I didnt suspect I didnt have my bag (looked exactly alike, green claim ticket and all) and received no public announcement to return to the gate to pickup my bag. I found out later in Syracuse that the United representative gave my business card (off my bag) to the other passenger and he called my office (of which I didnt receive until much later). It would have been more beneficial to make a public announcement, the other airlines do it all the time, why didnt United (customer service lacking)? As for the business card, while at Syracuse, their baggage claim did make contact with the other customer (the next day, Tuesday 12 Aug), using his personal information found in his bag. He was still waiting on word of his bag (this was the first help he received) and thankfully Syracuse was able to make return arrangements for his bag.

However, to date, there still is no word on my bag, although I understand it's not easily tracked, why couldnt United have looked for my bag while everything was still fresh at Dulles, now it may be in Chicago, who knows. Ive recently filed a claim for my bag contents and my claim was turned down in an email from a Mr. Berk (United Baggage Rep). Then after I filed a complaint, Mr. Berk and another claim rep, Ms. Narula, both, email me to file another claim and I did.

I continue to try and telephone Dulles United Baggage Claim (still no answer there). Ive tried to call United Ohare and nothing. Im still at a loss of what their procedures are to give some adequate customer service. I continue to hope they are looking at the information I continue to send them and can use it to find my bag. All I know is the green claim ticket is on my bag and as far as I know when the United gate representative took my business card she failed to put it back on the bag which will make locating it a lot more difficult. Im a very unhappy person right now.

I will be out some clothing and toiletries and I sure will think twice before I take another United flight.

On July 31, my daughter and I were booked on a flight home to Tucson that had a connection in Houston. My son was leaving for the Middle East the next morning and my husband was going to accompany him to his post. My daughter and I were visiting with our other son, a soldier in NY. The plan was that we would have the chance to say good-bye to him that night and take my husband and son to the airport in the morning. My husband was our only transportation from the airport upon our arrival in Tucson.

I checked the weather report that morning and found that there were no weather disturbances anywhere in the country other than "haziness" in some area. Upon the realization that our flight would be late and possibly prevent us from making our connection in Houston, I approached the agent at our gate and asked her if we would make the connection or not so I could make arrangements with my husband and find a place for my young daughter and I to stay the night. The agent assured me that the plane would arrive only 7 minutes late and I would have absolutely no problem making my connection. I asked her to confirm her response and asked if she would guarantee her words and she said without hesitation, "yes".

The plane departure time kept being moved back and so I called the Continental 800 number and was told we would likely not make the connection. I then went back to our agent who again assured me we would make it. I mentioned to our attendant that we had a tight connection and wondered if she could assist us in anyway, getting us off the plane faster. She angrily blurted that she had plenty of other passengers with the same problem and we were no more special than any of them. However, not much later, flirting with some young men sitting in front of us on their thrid round of cocktails, we overheard her say she would do anything and everything in her power to get them off the plane and to their connection. Obvious discrimination.

On the plane, the attendants passed out wrapped hamburgers and Twix candy bars. But, since I am allergic to wheat, I could not eat either one. I asked if I could receive another meal because of my wheat allergy and I was told "NO". Our plane arrived in Houston after the departure of our connection and a man at the gate told us to go to a counter behind us. At the counter was a nasty and rude woman who asked for my boarding pass then shoved a ticket in my hand with boarding passes for the next day. I asked her where my daughter and I were to stay that night and she then shoved a blue voucher at me. I asked if it would cover a room and she said, "No, it's a discount". I asked her if that was the best Continental could do for us after all the inconvenience, she replied "Yes. Next".

My daughter and I proceeded to the baggage carousel to retrieve our bags. We waited and waited and waited for over 20 minutes and our bags did not show. We were NEVER told by the woman who gave us the new boarding passes that our bags would not be there. We went to the baggage claim room and we were told that they had our bags and would place them on the next flight in the morning. I asked if we could have them now and we were rudely told that it would take them an hour and a half to get them for us. We opted to call about the room for which we received a voucher and them man on the phone told us the room would cost us $57 plus tax and fees WITH the voucher.

We arrived at a run down Ramada Inn after waiting another 30 minutes and I checked online to see what it would cost me to book that same room on my own. The price was $59.49, only $2.49 more than the voucher which meant the "voucher" I was given was worth $2.49. It was deceitful of Continental to lead me to believe that they were offering a discount when it truly amount to me only $2.49. By now it was 11:00 PM and I had not had anything to eat thanks to the delays and the flight dinner I could not eat. The hotel did not offer any sort of food and no breakfast. We left for the airport at 8:00 AM. I still had not eaten since lunch the prior day.

After boarding the plane, the attendant "Angel" came around with pretzels. I kindly asked her if she had anything else, as I was beginning to feel fain and I explained my allergy to wheat. She curtly blurted "Nope!" and proceeded to the next seats. About fifteen minutes later I heard a boy ask a different attendant if she had food. She said she had pretzels and PEANUTS. PEANUTS? I was told there was only pretzels and nothing else! I then asked that attendant if I could have peanuts and she did bring some to me. Again, obvious discrimination.

All in all, from beginning to end, this was a complete nightmare. Additionally, by the time we arrived in Tucson, my son and husband had left without us having the opportunity to say "good-bye: and we had to pay a taxi to deliver us to our home 35 miles away. We were forced to pay $70 for a run down raunchy motel, with no discount. We missed seeing our son off to the Middle east, we had to pay for a taxi to drive us from the airport to our home because my husband had already left town by the time we arrived, my husband drove 70 miles ( one and a half hours) from home to the airport to pick us up because they staff told us they "guaranteed" we would make our connection and we did not so the trip was for nothing.

The attendant treated me with prejudice in telling others passengers they would be treated "special" and telling me I would not. Treated me with prejudice when they told me they had nothing for me to snack on put pretzels (I am allergic to wheat), then brought out peanuts for a passenger when they asked.

We are from Connecticut. Our children were going to Louisville, KY to see family. We drove from CT to NJ to get the kids a direct flight. Upon arrival, we were told by Issuing Agt that because our oldest was only 17, we would need to purchase an unaccompanied minor ticket for $75.00 for our youngest to travel. Happily, I obliged using a credit card. I gave a total of $150.00 for both ways.

Once this was settled, we proceeded to the gate with our three children only to find out that the flight was canceled due to weather. We had already checked in our bags for this flight, but we were assured by the customer service rep, and her manager that was watching over her, that our childrens'luggage would be safely boarded on the next flight the following day. We went back to Connecticut.

The following day (August 11, 2008) we drove our children once again to NJ to catch flight 2379Y, only to find out in route that the flight was once again canceled. That evening, I called and canceled out flight all together and requested a refund. To the best of my knowledge this was done, although I have no way to be sure as I do not recall a confirmation number given. I then called baggage to find out if they would ship our luggage to our home seeing as we live so far away, I spoke with Kevin who literally laughed at me and told me we don't do that.

I then found out that they actually shipped our luggage to KY! I called Louisville, KY and asked them to please ship our luggage back as our children were never on that plane. (which was assured to me that the luggage would be going on my childrens' flight (?). They told me that they would be happy to fly it to Hartford, CT (BDL). The following day, I called Louisville to make sure that it was shipped to BDL and the woman (believe me I wish I got her name, she was extremely rude and could care less that my children had no summer clothing as it was shipped off to KY)told me that they shipped the luggage to Newark!! Frustrated, I asked her why would they do that when I asked them to send it to BDL, her response I can't help you ma'am, go call Newark and slammed down the phone.

I then called Newark and told her my story, she told me that my luggage was in fact STILL in Louisville!! Are you kidding me???? This employee told me that she would email KY and have them send the luggage to Hartford. The following day, I called Newark to see if the luggage was shipped to BDL, the employee told me that it was in Newark. I can't even tell you yow much time I invested in this making phone calls and speaking with Continental employees who were not only rude, but didn't know what they were talking about!

Finally, it was said that the luggage was in fact in Hartford. My children went days without any of their summer clothing, not to mention having to replace toothbrushes, hair brushes, etc. On August 13th I call my bank only to find out that Continental actually took the $150.00 which was supposed to be for my daughter to arrive in KY safely.

Just another note as to these employees not knowing what they are doing, I was told by Ms. P from the complaint center, that I didn't even need to purchase this unaccompanied minor ticket because my oldest was 17!!(???) I already called to request the refund, I never received the service from them and on top of all the aggravation, I am at their mercy to refund me at their convenience. In between making daily phone calls to Continental, I now needed to go to the bank and put more money into the checking account so that I wouldn't bounce checks because of an error made on Continentals behalf.

I can not tell you what I went through between being mistreated, misdirected, laughed at, hung up on and probably the most frustrated I've ever been in my life. I would not ever fly Continental because of the way people are treated and more importantly because of the lack of knowledge these people have in the job they do.

I am not seeking anything other than my $150.00 to be returned immediately.

I broke my ankle while on vacation in Cabo, Mexico. I had a full cast on my right leg. My foot was very swollen and needed to be elevated. On the flight from Cabo to Houston I was given the front seat with more foot room but was never offered anyway to elevate my foot.

On the flight from Houston to Little Rock I was placed in the middle of the plane. No one even tried to find me a seat with room for my cast. I had to tell the person who seat they gave me that they had given his seat to me. No one from the flight crew ask how I was once. When I arrived in Little Rock my foot had swollen signficantly. DO NOT fly continental if you need any special attention

I booked an air ticket on 8/15/08 costing about $500. I had a promotional discount certificate with me which would give me a discount of $100 if I had given at the time of reservation. As I recently shifted to Spring, Texas from California in July 08, my records and files were not properly arranged and hence could not locate the certificate when I made the reservation to get the discount

I Subsequently on 8/17/08 located the certificate and asked customer service at continental airlines whether they can accept the discount certificate and give me the refund amounting to discount. But they did not agree and said the ticketing was final. I feel this is unfair as I had got the certificate already with me for sometime and was issued to me by Chase card services for my use. And presenting the discount voucher subsequently does not alter anything as Continental would have given the discount anyway. Also considering the fact that I recently shifted my residence and I deserve some consideration on subsequent locating the document. I am a senior citizen and do not travel much and hence if I do not use the certificate now, I may never use. Considering all these will you help me to get the discount applied to my ticket and get a refund from continenatl Air?

A loss of $100. I am eligible for this as the certificate was issued to me some time back by Chase card services for my use.

CONTINENTAL AIRLINES from Bangor to Orlando with stop in Detroit and return with stop in Newark... Return flight was CO 2238Y departing from Gate A20 at 11:30am on 08/18/2008. This was absolutely the worse service I have ever been subjected to in my life. They over-booked our flight and told me I "probably" wouldn't be able to sit with my 8 year old son as they only had one seat left and gave me the one borading pass and told me to try and get seats when we landed in Newark. The agent in Newark offered us a flight on US Airways, which I had no choice to take so we could stay together, and then procedded to lose our luggage.

When I got to US Airways I was informed by the ticket agent that CONTINENTAL AIRLINES did NOT reserve us seats and he had to make the arrangements for us! When I got into the Bangor terminal the Continental agent told me that my bags "probably" would come in on a later flight at 11:30pm and that my bags would get to me the following day. They did NOT inform me of customs documents and I was only notified when I crossed the border by the border agent coming into Canada. The 4 customer service reps I dealt with afterwards to locate my missing luggage were some of the rudest people I have ever had to deal with and constantly gave me misinformation. Each call I was told something differently.

The person I spoke with in the morning told me to leave a note on my door and they'd deliver it today through "Rich's Courier Service" and then when I called back this extrememly rude agent told me CO only opened up a case "to be nice and... it wasn't our responsibility" to locate my luggage... Unbelieveable! I was finally notified that US Airways had my luggage and ended up having to make my own arrangements to get my luggage from them. I was more satisfied with the assistance I recieved from US Airways and will probably travel with them on my next trip as there was no "passing the buck" when I spoke to their agents. I was informed upfront as to what was going on and what needed to be done. There has been absolutely no accountability on the part of CONTINENTAL AIRLINES, and It was EXTREMELY dissapointing from start to finish!

I would never travel by CO again in my life. I absolutely can not get over the rudness, lack of professionalism, and constant mis-information. I can't believe our flight was over-booked to begin with and that a mother would have potentially been seperated from an 8 year old child...Just ridiculous...and then to be told that it was basically my fault because I flew with US Airways when I didn't really have another option? They should be ashamed of themselves. When I tried to ask for a supervisor and get the last telephone agents name she told me she wasn't going to do that and hung up on me.

Details: Continental Flight from Providence, RI to Newark, NJ to catch connecting direct flight to New Delhi, India. August 8th, August 9th 2008. What Happened: On Friday, August 8th, I was scheduled to fly out of Providence, RI on Continental Flight 2663 to Newark, NJ. A summer thunderstorm was delaying flights but once the sky cleared, most of the other airlines were up and running again, particularly Southwest. As I listened to the other airlines announce boarding and updated departure times, I noticed that Continental had not updated its schedule departure time anywhere noticeable, including at the gate.

By this time, I was concerned about missing my connecting flight out Newark, the once daily direct flight to New Delhi, India. I approached a customer service rep, Jose Torres, about the status of the two flights and was told, "Yep. You're gonna miss it, yo. Do you wanna refund?" Well..no, since I was flying to India for specific purpose (a business review meeting starting on Monday), I needed help finding the quickest and best way of getting to India. Jose was not helpful as he said "tomorrow's flight is booked". He stood staring at me as if expecting me to turn around and walk away without a suitable solution. When I pushed for additional assistance, I was told that I could fly to Newark and wait on standby for the next day's flight to India.

When I asked if Continental would book and pay for the hotel, the customer rep said no. So...I could fly to Newark and spend the night in the airport or pay for a hotel out of my own pocket. Not much of an option. Tired of Jose's inability to find a viable solution, I finally asked for a supervisor. I asked the supervisor to look at routing me through Europe as, two years ago, when I was moving to Delhi, I experienced similar problems with Continental. The supervisor said, "Well...since you have a better idea of where you can fly than us, maybe you should take care of it".

I thought it was the job of a customer service rep to take care of and find solutions to customers flight-related problems but apparently I was wrong. Not getting anywhere with customer service and feeling dejected, I asked my husband to drive back to the airport, (a 90 min drive). At this point, the best the supervisor could do was put me on standby for the next day's overbooked flight. Incredible.

When I finally returned home, I called the 1800 We Care line and spoke with Joe, who turned out to be a customer service guru. He booked me on a Providence-Newark-Amsterdam-Delhi flight and his help and assistance helped reassure me about the airline; perhaps I had just run into a couple of grumpy staff members.

The next day, I returned to the airline, ready to catch my flights, ready to go. Continental's motto, as I was about to find out, does not include the whole 'ready to go' idea. I arrived at the airport to find out that the flight out of Providence was delayed this time due to mechanical difficulties. Once again, I would miss my connecting flight (Newark to Amsterdam). I asked the customer service rep to help and I was told that there was one seat available on the direct flight to India- a middle seat. I accepted the seat but then explained that I have a medical condition that requires an aisle seat. This was documented in my initial flight plan so...shouldn't be a problem, right? Wrong. Tonya, today's customer service, told me to deal with it in Newark.

I once again called 1800 WE Care (funny- if you think about it) and spoke with another great customer service rep. When I explained my situation, she put a note on today's flight info for the crew in Newark. Why Tonya could not help me with this was not clear. At any rate, we finally take off from Providence and, once we arrive in Newark, I head to the nearest rep who does not wait for me to finish my question nor does she look up at me before saying, "Go to customer service". I wait in line one hour at Customer Service and explain my situation and medical condition, providing proof. I am told to talk to gate attendant. Well...there is no gate attendant and I am getting tired of being passed along. I wait at the empty counter until Ysa B comes along. I say hello and am waiting to explain my situation to her when she tells me to go sit down, she is busy.

When I explain that I will wait at the counter until she is finished, she mutters "whatever". After 20 minutes and a barrage of dirty looks, Ysa is ready to help me. I explain my situation and am told to wait over in the corner and she will see what she can do. I wait...and wait...and now it is time to board. I see a manager, a nice looking black man, and beg for his help, as I am close to tears by now.

At the very last minute, I am given a window seat. Not exactly ideal given my condition but slightly better than an aisle seat. As I boarded, I was incredible overwhelmed and exhausted by how hard it was to fly Continental Airlines. All the conversations I had to have, all the begging, pleading, pushing, probing I had to do simply to fly to my scheduled destination...and that the airline could not deal with my medical condition in a satisfactory way- unbelievable. What type of recourse do I have?

I'm writing about United Airlines and their unfair price gouging. I live in Juneau, Alaska and travel 2-3 times a year to Canton, OH. My parents are elderly; my father has cancer, and my mother has Alzheimer's. I take Alaska Airlines to Chicago and then have to book United airlines from there. My airline choice from Chicago is limited due to the time it takes to get from alaska to the midwest. I normally stay overnight in Seattle just to be able to catch an early flight to Chicago. Of the other airlines which fly between Chicago and either Cleveland or Canton, OH United is the only one with departures later in the day.

I recently booked a flight on United to Canton, OH for Christmas; the price $287, which isnt bad considering Canton's airport is small and it is the holidays. But when I went to book the exact same flight leaving Nov. 22 and returning Nov. 29, the price had increased to a whopping $974.50! I can understand fluctuating prices between days of the week, but between the time of day? And so drastically...does it take more fuel to run the same type of airplane in the middle of the day than it does to run in the morning?

The customer relations response I received said something about how prices fluctuate based on demand, but if you do the search and check the seat maps, you'll see there's currently not limited seating on any of the flights offered for those days. So if every passenger on that flight pays over $900, does that cover the price of fuel for a flight that takes approximately an hour? If that's the case the US better come up with some new aircraft that uses cheaper fuel...

Consequences? - unfair price gouging to consumers. How much more price burden are we supposed to take? dont the airlines realize they're running themselves out of business? I dont have the answers, but I'm sure not going to pay over $900 plus luggage fees for 1 flight that takes a little more than an hour...

My husband went to the airport and our luggage had zip ties on it. On many occassions Continental has misplaced our luggage but has never put zip ties on them. So when he got them and seen the zip ties he cut them off right there in the presence of the clerk on duty. As he went through the luggage he noticed that most of his valuable items were missing. He had a playstation 3 removed from its box and then the box returned to the suit case. Also the games that he had; had been removed from the cases and the cases put back. All of his watches and Through Back Jerseys were stolen.

Contacted the Airlines and they blamed it on customes, called customes and they blamed it on the airline. Bottom line is I need someone to help me find the individual that did this. I have the boxes that may have finger prints from the individual because if they were stupid enough to put the boxes back in then maybe they were stupid enough to not were gloves while committing this crime.

I regularly travel by air, am used to bad service, and thus very rarely get angry. However, Continental Airlines service was so poor that I will never again fly with them. The first incident occurred at the Birmingham airport on June 24, 2008. I was flying from Birmigham to Newark and then on to Edinburgh. I showed up 2 hours in advanced, already having checked in online. I was informed by rude and unhelpful staff that my flight was delayed because of air traffic in Newark and that I would not make my connecting flight. They told me that this was a regularly occurring problem and happened at least 2 times a week! I ended up missing a full day of vacation, had to reschedule my events in my trip, cancel two hotel bookings, and paid $60 for a hotel room that I couldn't stay in because I was stuck in an airport!

I called customer service to complain and was given conflicting information about my flight, which led me to believe that there was no air traffic problem. During the entire call, I was treated as if I was stupid and unreasonable for wanting compensation for my hotel expenses. They were even reluctant to issue an apology. On my return flight from London-Gatwick to Houston then to Birmingham on August 5, 2008, I had a similarly awful experience. I checked the status of my flight online, talked to ticket agents, etc. and at no point was informed that flights through Houston were being canceled and/or severely delayed by the weather. There was a hurricane in the Gulf Coast. Someone should have told me that my flight to Birmingham (and all flights to Birmingham save one) was going to be canceled. On the flight, I was given the wrong food because a flight attendant dropped the food in front of me while I was asleep. I received the Muslim vegetarian option. When I realized this after seeing the poor girl beside me pick at her chicken sandwich, we called the flight attendant over. There was no more vegetarian food and so my seat mate had to go hungry.

When we arrived, the passengers were kept on the plane for an extra hour because the jet way could not extend to the place the pilot had parked us. I had to run through the Houston airport because I was under the impression that my flight would actually leave at the scheduled time, and I would therefore only have an hour to get through security. This was not the case, however. I went to the gate where I was supposed to board and where the posted signs directed me too, but the gate said Wichita and not Birmingham. There were no announcements made, there was no posted information, and, if it weren't for the one competent Continental employee (Maria G.), I would have been stuck in Houston for another day. Luckily, she got me on a flight to Montgomery. I understand Continental can't control the weather, but if information about flights was better shared than I would never have flown into Houston.

When I arrived in Montgomery, my baggage did not make it with me. When I reported the baggage lost, the attendant was unable to register the information because he could not get the computer to work. I was forced to write my information on a piece of notebook paper. As soon as I got home, I called Continental's baggage claims hotline. The woman informed me that the bag had been sent to Birmingham and not Montgomery. After prompting, she said the bag would be delivered before noon the next day. I called 3 times when the bag did not arrive.

The first time I was treated as if I was stupid (again), but was told the bag was on its way. The second time, I was connected to speak with someone at the Continental counter at Birmingham who went to investigate my bags. He informed me that he would call me back. He never did. The third time, the lady attempted to get me to believe that I should contact the people at the Montgomery airport when I knew that all of the lost baggage claims could and should be handled by the carrier. After refusing to hang up until she got me specifics, she managed to get my information and informed that there were too many bags at the Birmingham airport to deliver today, so I would have to wait until tomorrow.

I am currently waiting and very, very displeased with almost every aspect of my flight. Continental should at least pretend to care about the customers. Some semblance of interest in my flying troubles from more than one person would have lessened the impact of the utter incompetence and ignorance of Continental's staff. 1 hotel room - $60 2 unnecessary/extended car trips - at least $40 horrible Continental experience - priceless

I left my precious palm size electronic dictionary (cost about $100) in my front seat pocket on board accidentally. I felt so sad about it. I sent an email to LostArticles that the only contact I found online when I realized I lost it the next morning and I put so much hope to the airline service to find it back. If the cleaning team did a good job, if the lost-and-found service communicated with the staff on the UA898 in timely manner, there would be a very good chance to find it, I suppose.

Unfortunately I got late and passive response from the lost-and-found, 'If it does come to our office we will contact you.' And I got no further news so far. I was wondering that how often the items were lost on board and how often they got them back to the owners? Although its not their responsibilities, it does reflect the quality of their service.

When I brought it up to uacustomercare, I was told that 'you may file your report by phone at the destination airport of that particular flight only' and I got no response when I asked 'What is the phone number at the destination airport of UA898?'... was it actually existed?

I was on a flight back to New Orleans from Houston recently (7/31/2008 (CO 1423), and was in awe when the flight attendant yelled at a passenger for requesting assistance with a passenger who had fainted. The attendants were at the front of the plane by the cockpit, and more than one passenger tried to get their attention. The lady asked them to get the AED repeatedly. Neither of them moved. Then, the attendant finally came over and yelled at the lady. No one knew a thing about the guy who fainted, nor his condition.

So, in my opinion, asking for the AED was fine. She still didn't do anything to help this guy. Male passengers had to help him. The attendents were very rude, and seemed like they had no emergency training!

My second issue is luggage---LOST. I called all day, and got a different story every time about where my luggage was headed. I was yelled at by a luggage associate at the 1800 number. It's now 8/1/2008 at 930pm, and I still don't have my luggage, and I fear that something will be missing because it's traveled to several cities since last night. On June 4, I bought round-trip reservations on United Airlines website to go from Raleigh to Chicago for my Moms birthday party on July 26 & 27. I made a mistake I actually booked the tickets to come on July 27th and return July 28th. I made this mistake on two of three tickets I purchased. I did not realize I had made the mistake until Wednesday, July 23rd, when I tried to print my boarding passes. I was very upset but it was 100% my fault. I tried calling United to change the flight. I had bought non-refundable, non-transferable tickets and no flight insurance since I was looking for the best price.

On July 23rd, I called United customer service. After over an hour of going through a very complicated phone system, I finally find a human voice. However, the person I talked to was in India spoke highly accented English. He could not easily understand me and I had trouble understanding him. I finally figured out that it would cost me over $750 to make the change. Its $150 penalty per ticket plus the difference in the fare. I decided against it since I could book one-way on American Airlines for $212 per person. I got to my destination without trouble. Had an enjoyable weekend and then tried to use the return portion of my flight. I had not cancelled it.

I knew something was wrong when I couldnt print the boarding pass at the hotel. I arrived early at OHare for my 1 p.m. flight only to discover that my ticket had been cancelled because I did not use the first leg of the flight! The ticket clerk was friendly, but explained she could not do anything. She called her manager who also explained she could not do anything. The second manager called her manager. Their only option was for me was to purchase two tickets at close to $1,000 a ticket. I demanded to speak to the managers supervisor, who finally came after one and half hours.

During this time, I was making frantic phone calls trying to line up another flight. The manager decided to override the system and only charge us a $150 each $300 total penalty and then gave us back the exact same seats we had reserved on June 4. That there was a delay due to mechanical trouble is par for the course. I would appreciate that at least the $300 penalty be waived. I am disputing the charge with my credit card company. I have no idea where the policy came from. I tried to go the website, but still cannot find the policy of unilaterally canceling tickets written in plain English.

$300 additional fee, total of over $1,000 in extra airline travel expenses.

I am a OnePass Elite frequent flier with Continental (over $35,000 spent annually on travel). I have a trip planned with my family from NJ to Las Vegas in late October and as such, I booked six tickets in advance to avoid the typical increase in fares that occurs closer to the travel date. At the time of booking, each ticket cost $460. This same itinerary is now only $298. I called Continental and asked to re-book at the lower fare. It makes perfect sense that as a valued OnePass customer, I would be able to rebook these tickets at the lower fare that is available to anyone who visits the Continental website. Why would I be penalized and have to pay more for booking my tickets in advance, which is recommended by most airlines?

This request was denied and denied harshly by Elsa M. in the Salt Lake City customer care center, who continually spoke over and interrupted me. Continental and Elsa proved to me that my lifetime value as a customer is not worth a single change fee. In fact, she said she would change the tickets at a cost of $150 per ticket, which is essentially what I would have saved if I had booked today. I asked if my Elite status meant anything and she said in this case, I was welcome to fly elsewhere.

It is amazing, especially during a time when customer retention should be first priority, that Continental is willing to give up my future business (which is at least $35,000 /year) for this one transaction. I said that if Continental really doesn't value me as a customer, then I will find a company that does and Elsa agreed I should go ahead and do so. I look forward to sharing my experience with the travel community to provide better awareness to Continental's practices. No resolution. Will no longer fly with Continental; neither will employees from any of the six companies that each of these travelers work for.

Due to a death in the family I found myself needing to travel to Europe. Since I had to meet my brother coming from LAX, we found Continental Air a viable carrier. July 01, 2008 I purchased a round trip ticket . From LIS we were given both our boarding passes for flights. As I reach New Jersey I cleared Customs, rechecked my bags and checked my boarding gate into SFO, gate 75 as it was stated on my boarding pass! The flight had been early, so when I reached the gate I sat down and waited for boarding to commence. After some time had elapse I started to get worried for I wasnt seeing the usual flurry of activity normal to pre boarding.

This is when I reach the counter and asked when was my flight to board or was it late! The agent at gate 75 informed me that the flight I was seeking had been re routed to gate 90 and that I better hurry or I would miss it. As I got to gate 90 I was informed that said flight had left and that I better hurry to the Customer Service counter. Again I ran to said location, now a bit miffed and annoyed for all the running around that I was being put through. At the customer counter I asked to see the supervisor. I was being major inconvenienced and I was appalled at the customer service I was receiving.

Why had such change not been aired through their PA system? I was then told the supervisor wasnt available, then I asked if he/she could contact me by phone; I had my cell and I needed to ask a few questions. That was also impossible and if I wanted to make the next flight I should pretty much run to gate 120. Because I was quite exasperated I was handed a complaint form. On reaching gate 120 I approached the agent at the counter explained what had happened and asked if as customer service could they at least bump me up to a better seat and in thus fashion I would be satisfied, the answer from the agent was Hell No!. As I boarded the plane I was so irate that I couldnt even see straight. Was this the famous Customer Service that their CEO so falsely advertised while captive in our seats waiting to take off? He has some nerve! The plane ended up taking off late, for as we were informed: they had to wait for a connecting flight.

From my seat as I waited for the progression of my saga I put in a complaint. Today I was further insulted by adding insult to injury; offered 120 bucks in a certificate, that off course I would have to redeem on Continental Air. Too bad Continental doesnt engage secret flyers or even give their customer handlers some sort of training on how to be courteous to their passengers, their attitude is the worst I have ever encountered in all of my years of travel.

All I have to say is this: I will be their worst negative promotional agent. My dollar my choice! Continental will never see another dime out of my pocket!

I had to re chedule all my apointments over and over.

    Reviewed July 28, 2008

I was travelling with my husband on Mar 22, 2008 and needed help checking in. I asked an agent to help me. He verbally told me what to do and walked away. There was a problem with the reservation and we were charged $50.00 and in addition my reservation was cancelled for the return flight. I called customer care and lodged a complaint. As of today, 7/27/08, I have not been compensated.

We did get back home, however, I have no recourse and do not know where to lodge a complaint against the improper handling of my travel itinerary. I spent over 1/2 hour on the phone requesting to speak to a supervisor. I was assigned case id# by Leah in Houston.

I asked that someone contact me so I could explain the matter in detail. It is obvious that this is an ongoing unpleasantness that is occuring far to often. The staff at Continental are inferior to the standards of other domestic airlines. It is a shame that the consumer has to go to these extremes to have a voice heard.
