COMPLETE SCAM. I watched their horrifically unethical salespeople swindle nearly two-dozen working class people out of thousands of dollars for a timeshare program that offers virtually nothing in return. Appalled and disgusted.

Do not buy this! I have two issues with this company. First I was on the account but we are not married. I called to be removed since I will not be able to use the account if I wanted to. I'm not the primary. Secondly when we initially signed up We were told it is not a timeshare, it’s a membership. We were told we could get hotels for the same price Priceline gets them for, they will fix the money. We fix the time. I set aside time for a family vacation and we couldn’t find anything. The price was cheaper than any other online search for travel which is a lie. They also said we could go anywhere in the world and near popular amusement parks.
Before Covid we tried on several occasions to use and nowhere we wanted to visit was available. Also it only saves you if you choose the most expensive room for a week. If you want to go for half a week you pay more. If you want a nice room you pay more. If you want to take a cruise you can’t. There is Coronavirus waiver due to fact that their whole business is base on travel and we are unable to that. Calling customer service is useless cause all they care about is money. This company needs have lawsuit filed against them for basically being a pyramid scheme. Don't use this company ever.

On December 23, 2020 I received a NOTICE OF DEFAULT for amounts GEVC contends I owe them amounting to $812.97 including late fees. They end the letter stating they could enforce a lien against me and bill me attorney fees and that they could retain the membership and repossess the points in lieu of pursuing the deficiency against me. All of this occurs within 30 days unless I pay extra money. Ironically, I never received any billing from them. My membership was totally paid up. Approximately $8,000 to be exact.
This was membership that I was unable to use since I purchased it. The points that GEVC purports to give from RCI are not able to be used. 10,000 points won’t get you a place to stay, and never did, even when I bought my vacation package back in 2013. I discovered worldwide that there were no venues that aligned with the point values of 10,000 points. GEVC never specifies what 10,000 points will get you until you start making plans to take your vacation. It’s only then that you find out that you can’t leave home on 10,000 points. However, according to the salespeople that I encountered in Long Beach, they had all booked their vacations through GEVC. Their presentation was not only misleading but outright FRAUD. You are never told, despite asking what 10,000 points will buy. Individuals are instead told that they can take their vacations on 10,000 points.
The man that gave the presentation stated that he had taken his family to Phuket, Thailand while another salesperson and his wife had taken a vacation in Mexico. I discovered that you can’t book resorts where and when you'd like and I determined that it's much cheaper to book accommodations on Hotels.com or one of the other sites then to book through GEVC's overpriced “vacation club”. And the good news is that it's much cheaper and more efficiently than under GEVC's phony points program.
On another note, when the telemarketers in Long Beach called my home, they reached my boyfriend who was promised a free 3 day 2 night vacation to Hawaii to attend your presentation. As an inducement to buy, I was also offered a cruise to Mexico When I sent the information in to the travel company to redeem the voucher for the Hawaii trip.. It was then that I discovered that this wasn’t isn’t a vacation that you can schedule, and it was not meant to be free. Thankfully, I was smart enough to research the voucher scam as so many other people had gotten duped that the company responsible for scheduling the Hawaiian trip had hundreds and hundreds of negative comments. Some people had actually paid all of the fees and did their Hawaiian Vacation through the voucher company. Those reviews stated they spent much more for the trip than they would have paid if they had paid for it directly.
There is no secured interest in this vacation club as I do not own a deeded interest in a timeshare. Even though this membership was sold to me as a Timeshare, and to induce me to buy it, I was offered free vacations which were anything but free. I discovered there is no secured interest, I WOULD NEVER face a foreclosure on my credit report, despite the fact that GEVC contends they can sue for the deficiency and enforce said lien against me. All they REALLY sold me is a membership in a vacation club which actually can be compared with a membership in a country club that does not own a deeded interest in the golf course, but only the right to use the golf course subject to the terms of the membership contract.
What distinguishes the “vacation club” from a timeshare is that a timeshare developer can only sell a finite number of weeks (52 at most per unit) whereas a vacation club sells an infinite amount of memberships often in excess of the resorts capacity. Therefore, there could be NEVER BE A FORCED SALE. Once 30 days lapses, they intend to retain my membership and sell this membership the same way they sold to me, to some poor unsuspecting person, who will figure out that 10,000 RCI Points WILL NOT get him a vacation and NEVER WILL and that he can do better at Hotels.com. Also Global Exchange Development Corp is really one and the same, as GEVC.
GEVC threatens that at their discretion they can enforce Lien actions to satisfy my purportedly SECURED obligation, rather than to offer some form of payment to reimburse me for what I have already paid for this false and misleading “VACATION membership”, which was paid for in full. So based on this letter, it is clear to me that they don't think the membership is worth anymore than $812.97, so they plan to retain it without offering some form of payment to someone who paid the membership in full. I believe they are obligated to do just that.

I was young and dumb - they were not. TL;DR: GET OUT NOW - even if you're past the 'grace period' you can get out for as low as $300 and save yourself $556 per year on terrible vacations. Truly the lowest forms of humanity; talked me, a broke and stupid young man, into financing $5000 worth of debt only to be billed $157 annually for a USELESS RCI points dump. How is it useless you say? They sell you a fixed amount that they replenish every year - but you have to pay $157 to replenish it (after the initial $5000 buy in). Then you have to pay for an RCI membership ($99-$199 per year). Then you have to pay to use the points on RCI (about $300 per time) and you don't even have access to any good resorts - the amount of points they give you gets incrementally less valuable as RCI's points cost inflates every year.
So, for a 1 week stay at Joe **'s Cockroach Infested joint in bum nowhere Texas - you have to pay $556 every single year on top of the starting fee of $5000. AVOID THIS AT ALL COSTS. JUMP OUT NOW. DON'T HESITATE. YOU CAN CANCEL - just make sure your dues are up to date and you call their customer service. Then it's only $99 processing fee (my god they hit you every which way with this nonsense).

Updated on 4/28/2020: I called in today so that I could talk to an actual customer service person. Well I able to finally make contact to an individual, and his name was Derrick. I explain him my situation regarding no longer working or no longer could afford to pay for a time share I have never used. He was so rude that he told me that he didnt care there were a lot of people calling in saying the same thing.
I said that the covid 19 virus has crippled the whole world and he said he didnt care as long as I paid the $116 a month. If not he would process this to a foreclosure, in which I told him that the government wont allow it and he bragged how his company found a loop hole to get it processed. I told him that I dont have enough food to feed me and my family and he said he didnt care. The nerve of some people and the nerve of this company taking advantage of people when they are knocked down. If I wasnt trying to buy a home I would let it go to foreclosure.
Original review: Well when you get there they make you watch a video that advertises the club and makes everything look good. When you actually try to use it you dont have enough points to book a trip. Ohhh you sure can buy extra points or spend more money on a upgrade. They told me with the amount of down payment I put down I would be able to pay it off in less than 5 years. I look at my paperwork now and it states that I am now financing this for 7 years. I didnt accept or request that, because if you do the math they want me to pay twice what the original price was.
I keep trying to call and talk to customer service to see if I can cancel this and I just get the run around and the phone keeps hanging up. Then when I actually talk to someone they say, "Wrong dept. I can't help you," for a moment I thought I was talking to Home Depot and not my department. Stay far away and with covid 19 I no longer can afford luxuries and definitely would rather buy food with that 115 a month for my kids. I hope someone can tell me or help me get rid of this useless vacation club.

The presentation and price is convincing, but you soon find out you can't book any resorts where and when you'd like to go and the fees/exchange rates at hotels and resorts are as expensive as they'd be if you just booked the hotel directly. While the agents selling the product are extremely friendly, the customer service after the purchase has been made is TERRIBLE. The associates I've encountered have been brusque.

Upon arrival for meeting that was suppose to start at 7:45 pm we sat for an half hour. That was an immediate bomber for me. The presentation was excellent and the keynote speaker was energetic. My only complaint was that he didn’t gravitate to the ** families. I saw him walk over and sit down with a ** family and engage heavily in conversation with them. 90 minutes turned into bad customer service and take the exit door. John who showed us in was pleasant at the beginning and during the introduction, but sitting back down and meeting with Tim (the financial manager) I didn’t feel like our presence mattered anymore. Once I told Tim that what they were asking for was not in our budget this evening he became standoffish and walked away from the table. John however say with a look of disbelief and then showed us to the “Exit Door” as he stated. No more conversation afterwards.
In all honesty if the sales rep would have shared a bit more information we would have been better prepared and would have been ready to make our purchase. Here it is Christmas, and January 1st is a matter of days away. Sir, I’m going to pay my rent before I buy into a timeshare and become an owner. No thanks for attending and literally had to ask for complimentary refreshments. If we would have had the upfront fees we would have definitely took part in ownership last evening, but their customer service sucks!!

Absolutely stunning conversation regarding my last payment for my timeshare. After asking for a delay of my payment until after Christmas and New Years I was told that not only that they will be adding an additional $10 and another $15 to my last payment of $110.13. After I agreed I again threatened that it will be reported to the credit bureau. I was not late one time and never missed a payment.
I stated to remove the $15 fee so I can pay for it immediately, after refusal I stated that I will be paying in the 1st week of January which the lady replied that they will be adding the extra $10 on top. After being hit with all the charges I stated that I will be waiting until January 2020. Then being threatened with the credit bureau is absurd and absolutely BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. What are my options.

I was out shopping at the mall when a lady stopped me and my spouse regarding a free vacation. She stated it was a $40 fee to start and we spin the wheel and it landed on choose any place. The vacation resort we chose was a $2599 all inclusive. We paid the $40 and she gave us the info and explained that we can get our $40 back and a gift if we attend a meeting. We set up a meeting time and date. When I made it home I said, "Honey, nothing is free in this world." It's a catch to this GEVC. I said let me go look it up. I see all the reviews and now I'm very upset. My question is should I attend this meeting to get refunded of my $40 that I spent with GEVC? I'm not looking forward to any timeshare.

Other than the receptionist who greeted us, and the young salesman that sat with us, I feel like I have been used and lied to! Everyone who was a part of this process was nice and danced around all of our questions, and said what they thought we wanted to hear! We agreed and signed for auto draft for our monthly payments with no problem, but we did not authorize GEVC to draft yearly dues, we would be getting statements or coupon book for those..
On December 2nd, my Checking account gets pounced for 2 years dues, 2019/2020, and we didn’t even join 'til last day of September! We also referred 2 couples who signed up, and we were supposed to get 2 years dues waived! We haven’t booked, or attempted to book any of these “free trips” associated with this scam! I should have known better when I saw that they were located in the old Silverleaf Resorts building, that they are a sketchy bunch of people! Everything would be a great deal if it were all true and explained accurately and honestly! The one star I gave as rating is for the nice receptionist, she was genuine! Lesson learned!

I agreed to sit through their 90-minute presentation. I initially made a $40 deposit for a two night stay at Great Wolf Lodge in Dallas with the water park tickets. I was also promised a $100 restaurant gift card and that my deposit would be refunded after the presentation. So far, all true. Sales could not detail the differences in the different levels of cost for weekly rentals other than to say "time" of reservation. NOT GOOD ENOUGH.
Salesperson was definitely rude in responding to questions and then having the nerve to ask if I couldn't afford a $199 monthly payment. After explaining I was newly retired and getting affairs in order and would not be purchasing anything at this time, he shoved away from the table without so much as a "thank you for coming." I did receive a $40 Visa gift card, and a voucher for the hotel stay where I would have to pay an additional $100 deposit by May 2020 as well as the $100 restaurant.com gift card.
Now for the continued lies: After using the restroom prior to my one-hour drive home, all of the above mentioned items fell out of my purse in the restroom, unbeknownst to me. I received a phone call about 30-minutes later telling me all of the items had been turned in. Since I was more than half-way home, I asked if they would mail them to me. I was told "YES", the first lie from the individual who phoned (Amherst). I waited one week, due to a federal holiday falling within this week, before calling again. I was told again that it had been mailed. (LIE.)
After another week, I phoned again only to be told that it had been mailed out that Wednesday (LIE). Nothing has ever been received and after looking at all of the review on the BBB site, as well as this site, I voiced my concerns in reviews. ADDITIONAL LIES: In their presentation they indicated they have been in business for 40 years, yet the BBB indicates 16 years. GEVC states they are not a timeshare, yet everything written indicates they are. If it sounds too good to be true, it is! I am so glad I did not sign up for their program!!! Buyers Beware!

We went and so on and on trying to offer us these programs saying we can save a lot on our next vacations by joining them.
I kept saying we were broke at moment and the lady I was talking to called her manager and he also tried to lure us in and offering some savings and I kept telling we have no money at the moment and the manager mood just changed from good to looking real frustrated fast and what made it worst for us. He just got off his chair walked away from me and my wife without shaking our hand and saying goodbye or atleast have a great day. How rude right!. We were told we were purchasing a club membership, not a timeshare. Once we reviewed the BBB and GEVC, we decided it was not a good idea. However, I was out of state and could not return on time to rescind the contract. We purchased it on on June 29, my wife called the company on July 6, my wife spoke to Jennifer, she said I will e-mail the paperwork to rescind and it's no problem.
A month later GEVC tells us we can't get out of contract, they said we called on July 9 and that is a lie. I have the AT&T phone records where my wife called. We asked them what can we do to get out of this contract, Leonard said "pay it off." I said "I'm not paying for a service I'm not going to use." On April 8, 2019, GEVC sent a letter: Notice of Forfeiture of Membership, but still wants us to pay. On June of 2019 , Monterey Collections sent us a letter that we must pay or we will be placed on bad credit. They said we could get out of it if we paid $10,000. Our original price was $6646. They said as long as we don't pay the interest will continue. This company will not let you out of this contract. They use fraudulent statements to get you to sign the contract. Don't even consider getting into this company.

I could not believe how unprofessional this 'sales' staff came across. Of course when you first get there, everyone is nice and sweet. But once they don't hear what they want to, they become extremely rude. My rep was even getting defensive with me when I was asking questions and I asked him why he's getting defensive? He laughed it off. It was just extremely unprofessional. He kept saying, “I'm not trying to sell you anything.” I said, "Perfect then why I am here. I'll take the trip and be on my way." He laughed it off. I said seriously. Then I tried asking him questions about the price, which shockingly he couldn't tell me because it was all in the presentation. So by this point I had already seen enough red flags. I went into the presentation and of course I immediately said it was too good to be true.
And when I said that, I was shown a realtors license and was told that since it's a real realtors license they have to follow all the laws. (Is that the reason.) It was supposed to give me peace of mind I guess. Then we talk about money. I was intrigued. But my gut is telling me no. So I try and see how low I can go. Once I told the supervisor I couldn't afford her down payment then she said, "Ok if you can’t afford this then no reason to go any further." She said thanks and that was it. I thought I was done. NOPE, then when my rep came back and tried to ask a 'higher up' about 'lowering the deposit' the guy shook my hand and was really nice until he saw how low I wanted to go and that's when he turned into a completely rude guy! He said, "OH no," left abruptly and when the rep said, "hey man," he literally walked out of the room yelling, "nope," as if I was the one wasting their time??
I was talking to another person there and she was promised a trip to Catalina and when she went to claim her free trip they said they 'never heard of Catalina' and gave her a voucher for 7 day trip. Funny thing is I was there for Catalina as well and I rec'd the voucher for Catalina. So it doesn't add up. But my main thing is rudeness. When you get to the end and you're adamant and say no, you get the rude treatment and that's not good salesmanship.

I was at 6 Flags Fiesta, TX with my wife & 2 girls when we get stopped by the GEVC disciples. I gingerly get get led to "The Wheel”. I spin, I win a cruise, BUT I have to deposit $40 and do some paperwork and agree I will go to a 90 min seminar IF I want my $$$ back . Agreed to the 10 am group the following Sunday because we were going to 6 Flags right after the seminar. We call to confirm our meeting and the receptionist tell us to bring 2 forms of ID, so we do. I only bring minimal $$$ because we're not planning to stay all day at Fiesta, TX.
We get to the GEVC place and wait like 5 min before someone asked us to come up to the front of their lobby & in front of potential members. This representative asked us for a credit or debit card, I said we didn’t bring one, he says out loud, "ARE YOU SURE, YOU MIGHT HAVE ONE IN YOUR CAR!!!" Really?? Their demeanor totally spiraled down after that. I was told we had no ties or obligations, but yet was refused & not allowed to participate in the seminar. In a split second they gave me another date/time for the next seminar and pointed me to the door!!!! Really??? No apology, no "Hey let's work something out your here already," but NOOOO.
All of this was handled extremely poor, & this is what I get for winning a cruise??!! But on a positive note, a preview was displayed on how they conduct business which alerted me NOT to WASTE my time any further. I tried calling GEVC HQ but no one cared to hear my side, they just said "Everybody has a credit card sir “. So I went on to the BBB and reported them. Don’t do it people!!!

I would not recommend this at all. They would tell you ANYTHING to make a sale and just treat you like a number after. These are just a couple of things I experienced:
2. The locations in which are advertised as available during the presentation NEVER has availability.
3. The interest on the loan was not stated prior to the sale.
We were told that nothing would be reported on our credit reports - just to find out a year later how this negatively impacted our reports. None of the above was ever disclosed before sale. The experience received after the sale was even worse. All in all, this was a terrible investment and I feel mislead, lied to, coerced, and it goes without saying, 100% dissatisfied with the plan as well as the customer service.

We tried to book our free trip and it was so many blackout dates we just decided to give it to someone else. But at the same time we also bought into the program, I can kinda understand why people keep saying they’re scammers, definitely those free trips. We sit down with this guy named BB, he didn’t look anything like we expected nor did he act or talk like anything we expected, he actually made us feel comfortable throughout the whole interview process. Like, I mean literally, I think we bought into the program more due to him and his manager, (who also did the presentation) and how they really treated us like humans and not a number.
Reluctantly we did sign up, we finally received our login two weeks ago. And we booked our first trip, however we used our frequent flyer miles instead of their air traveling method. Now I’m expecting to see this great beautiful resort that I have booked for me and my family, but the booking is confirmed. I would give a five star but I feel like those marketing trips were a bit of fluff, so that almost was a yellow flag, but so far so good. We’re going to for St. Thomas 348 a week USD, I really hope it’s as beautiful a resort as the pics display.

Please for the love of God don't make the same mistake that we did. Purchasing timeshares or vacation club's through points is a scam and while there might be two out there that are real, the risks are too high. You're not just paying 6 to 11 Grand you're paying over 30 grand by the time this is paid off not to include monthly payments. The contract you sign is different than what is said in person and before you know it you can't get out because they wait till escrow hits for you to back out. I thought this could be a vacation club that we got to use for my son and for us to travel and it turns out it's just a scam timeshare and not a vacation club at all. Thinking back all of the signs were there, they're just really good at being the Sharks that they are. Worst part is they have no remorse and even though job status has changed and we're homeless they don't care.
This is the worst experience of my life and the biggest mistake of anything I've ever signed up for and I am forever scarred and have PTSD from agreeing to anything again for as long as I live. They put everything on a flash drive saying that's everything you signed and that's a lie too. After missing the amount of days that we had to back out I checked the flash drive and what I read in person I do not feel as well as on those papers, what I was told in person is not what is on those papers, what I was promised verbally was not on those papers. They definitely make sure they cover their butts and thieve you for all of your money and take your child's Christmas presents. Thanks for ruining my life and making me depressed, I hope this entire business can't sleep at night and if they are they're probably going to hell. How they're even open makes me so irate and Furious that California lets a business like this exist!

My husband I attended a presentation in San Antonio last year and subsequently became owners. We read the reviews prior to purchasing and discussed them in depth with one of the managers who was quite forthright about the issues. Many of them didn’t make sense to us because they were about the free gift trips. (Which we clearly understood to be FREE, with travel restrictions, not at the same RCI resorts as the program, and for which we had to pay the taxes. This shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone.) Other reviews claim the owners didn’t have enough points to go where they wanted. This made no sense to us as this program does not use points to book trips. We wonder if they were confused about how the program works?
The manager and representative we spoke with acknowledged that there were representatives in the past at various offices who may have over-promised or misrepresented the program but that management has a zero tolerance policy. They assured us that if we had questions or issues booking trips, we could always call and come back in for help. We looked up a couple of resorts we like in Cancun and Orlando. Both were in the nightly range of $500-$600. We checked pricing for a specific week and then went on the computer and found those very same weeks for $339 and $469 PER WEEK respectively.
We have already saved a significant amount on the small trips we have taken in the past year and anticipate getting our money back in savings in the next year or so. We are very satisfied with our experience and with the purchase we made. We find we can afford to travel more and that makes our kids (and our initially skeptical relatives) happy! I will say plan ahead if you want to go some place popular at a specific time of year (eg South Padre in July) but to us this is common sense. This program is not perfect but we can honestly say it has been a great value for us and we believe a good investment for our family.

My husband and I were living comfortable and wanted to start traveling with our children now they were a little bit older. we went to the intro meeting which we were to get an flight and hotel in Vegas just for attending (later to find out the available travel times offered put us in the airport for more hours than the length of stay) and had to pay $50 per person to reserve a spot in their free trip. We decided to sign up in July paid the monthly payment come Dec. There was a yearly maintenance fee which was the same cost for 6 months as 1 year. Then the end of January my husband was diagnosed with cancer. He was doing radiation/surgeries for months.
He was out of work and we were now living off my income, I started to fall behind on bills etc. So I called Global Exchange to see what they could do for me. They said they could defer a payment to the end of loan. That wouldn't help. I wanted to sell the contract - they said I can't because I don't own it yet till the loan was paid in full. Asked if they could buy back they could keep the $1300.00 I had already paid into it (and never once used). They stated they don't do that. So basically I was stuck with No Way Out From Under this BS bully thief of a scam company. I called the company many times asking them same thing pleading with them for any kind of a solution (thinking someone would have compassion for my situation). No such luck. All they would say, "I am sorry to hear about your husband but there is nothing I can do."
At the end of call they had the nerve to ask, "Is there anything else I could help you with?" SERIOUSLY! Well they sent the account to collections after 90 days nonpayment. I had a choice of paying house payment or vacation club. So my original loan amount was $8400.00 and at the time of collections the balance was $ 6655.00. I paid $1745. just for the headache of dealing with this company. As of February 2018 the account is still open and the balance now is $ 10,265.00!
I know as long as the account is open the amount can go up. I called the collection company and said if I was to pay off the debt will I get my vacation package thinking I could then sell it to make some money back off of it since I would never use this company. They informed me that I wouldn't own anything because Global Exchange washed their hands of the account and the coll. agency had nothing to offer but improving my credit. How could this be legal. To think of all the thousands of dollars this company has scammed from poor trusting consumers. They received $1700. for nothing and then washed their hands of me.
Now this collection company (probably owned by the same person) is charging me over $3,500.00 in fees for put it on my credit. And one letter they sent when they first got the account. How can companies like this get away with such shady practices. Please when it comes to any of the free trips seminars/vacation clubs be very wary. They make it sound so good but have yet to have one good vacation. NO good experiences and over $10,000 in debt!

This company claims and displays an A+ BBB rating. I couldn't find them on the BBB site by any name or telephone number. They use the initials of GEVC and name Global Exchange Vacation Club at telephone number **. We were told if we paid $40.00 to confirm an appointment for a 90 minute presentation of their vacation club we would receive our $40.00 back Plus $100 dinner gift card and a 7 day Honolulu vacation. This would be if we joined or did not buy into their club. We rejected the near $12,000 initial membership that was dropped down to less than $7,000 with additional "sales managers" trying to talk to us into buying into their club.
We rejected all offers as this was excessive and still had to buy vacations for a extra fee, plus maintenance fees. We did get a $40.00 debit card back and registration form to send in with a $75.00 non-refundable Cashier's Check for a very restrictive 7 night vacation program. It's so limited and restrictive we doubt we could make any good reservations at any place we would consider going to.
Reservations must be made within 2 days and not earlier than 30 days in advance and then availability is restricted. They also indicate additional cost or fees could be charged. We also received a card to get discounts at some limited restaurants IF we purchased discounts for that restaurant and purchased a minimum amount that would be excessive for the type of restaurant and their prices. Looks like they are faking their A+ BBB rating and scamming people to go to these presentations to buy into their vacation club at an inflated price.

The gift - How is it that the "gift" requires a booking fee that must be paid with a money order? Thereby reducing your protection if they claim it was not received. And then if you balk they are willing to give you a two year membership for 1k that can be applied to the 7k if you decide to join?
Questions to ask. Certificate of title - does that mean we own it/can sell it/pass it on as inheritance? Title to what? Where is it recorded? GEVC is a TOTAL scam! I've been a timeshare owner since February 2015. This is about the most worthless piece of crap that I've EVER invested in. Most of the places I've considered vacationing to, the rooms look like old dilapidated roach motel rooms. I wouldn't want my dog to sleep in these places. Other vacation spots that I've looked at going, they, of course, weren't available for the time I wanted to book. I have yet to use this timeshare, I have 20,000 points and have paid RCI to rollover 10000 points so I won't lose them. Next year I should have 30,000 points however I'm trying to figure out if I should even pay the maintenance fees or chalk it up as a loss and walk away from it.
I received a phone call today regarding my maintenance fees that are due, unbelievable! Of course, it was an automated call. I call the number back and the phone lines are busy. I left a message to receive a callback, no callback. I tried calling about 5 times today and every time the lines are busy and all I got was a recorded message. Please, Please, Please warn ANYONE you know that is remotely considering to purchase a timeshare from GEVC, buyer beware! This is a TOTAL SCAM! It really upsets me to know that I've been had! People can be cruel and it's so unfortunate!

My husband and I got suckered into this 3 years ago, thinking we could go nice places for our 10,000 points we get a year for a simple maintenance fee. Nope -- there are fees upon fees upon fees -- and then there is absolutely nowhere decent to go for 10,000 points. And they don't let you accumulate more than 20,000 points -- you lose them. We actually paid as much for a cruise as we would have just going online through United. Last year we skipped GEVC and RCI altogether and used our Hilton points and United miles for a practically free week on Kauai. Now, because we refuse to pay RCI a fee to get on their website, we can't even look for a place -- and if we don't pay GEVC their $149 maintenance fee each year, they will foreclose on us and we lose our $8,000 down payment. It was a very expensive lesson. Don't get suckered like we did.

We have owned for 7 month & was brought out from Fiesta Texas for a cruise. We were quite skeptical since we had owned 2 timeshares with Silverleaf Resorts. With over 15 years of availability issues. High pressure sales tactics which were lies. (Hint: Why we bought 2 timeshares.) The Diamond program is worthless & growing maintenance fees. We simply let them go back after Holiday Inn bought them out. All they wanted was more money. GEVC allowed us a point, click & stay option with no points program with 1000.00 a year dues.
In 7 months we've been to the Texas Coast, Playa del Carmen, Mexico, New Braunfels & have a scheduled trip planned for Dec to Breckenridge Colorado. To have 4 weeks a year for only 273.00 in dues is already proving itself to be what they showed us during their presentation. Very happy & recommend to anyone who's had to deal with a traditional timeshare like Silverleaf Resorts or Holiday Inn Club Vacations. I am going to do my best to keep my opinion out of this review/complaint. My wife and I just got home from a presentation. Our 2 hour appointment did turn into a little more than 3 hours. As I timeshare owner (Silverleaf Resorts, now Holiday Inn VC), I wasn't surprised. What everyone needs to understand, is with GEVC, you are NOT buying a timeshare. You are buying points with RCI that you can use for a last minute, 1-week, vacation. GEVC owns NOTHING. You are paying GEVC for an inside track to RCI, along with an RCI membership. As a timeshare owner, I can join RCI and trade any of my weeks with RCI (last membership fee was $45, not $124 like GEVC). As an RCI member, I could also buy EXTRA vacations at $199-$219, is what I remember, and what I was looking for. We spent a week at a ski resort in Western VA and another in Southern NM. Both were great experiences.
Using the presentation we saw as an example, $239 for the last minute and $499 for three 1-week vacations had a standard price of $11,385. We bought on the spot, there was a $2000 discount. There was also a $1000 voucher we could use towards the purchase price. Once the manager found out I was a Vet, he gave me another $1000 off. So we are down to $6,385, financed, 7-years, $125/month... a good price, right? The manager kept pointing out there were no maintenance fees. I own 2 weeks at Silverleaf and my annual maintenance fees are a few dollars over $1500 paid for the year up front.
So let's compare. every year, $1500 in payments each year, plus $273 HOA, plus $124 RCI membership, plus $239 last minute 1-week, $1497 for three weeks, is $3633 for the first 7 years, then $2133 thereafter, assuming they don't raise any of the fees (yeah right). When I pointed out this to the manager, he started politely talking bad about Silverleaf. I've not even addressed the $70/night fee to stay extra days or anywhere else. I can stay at any Silverleaf resort for up to 3 nights consecutive night, Sun - Thur is $0 (yes, free) and Fri - Sat is $49.95/night + tax.
During the presentation, an example resort was on in Dominican Republic, which I had already looked at thru the Armed Forces Vacation Club (free for retired Vets), was $729 thru GEVC and $349 thru AFVC. See where I'm going? When the manager finally listens me repeating, "This is not for me", he finally gives up and shakes my hand and leaves. Our sales person takes us to the lady from Corporate for our survey. She was more interested in hearing why we didn't buy... not so much about the presentation and our experience. Then the bait and switch comes. I only signed up for this because they were offering a 5-day/4-night cruise out of Galveston, TX for the taxes of $150 for 2-adults.
The lady from Corporate says it's $195/person and we had to give a $100 deposit on the spot. When I told her that is not what the lady on the phone said and she said I was mistaken. When I said it was, it became, "no, that's not possible." The switch was 8-days/7-nights for free, $75 tax, that we had to send in with the registration within 60-days. I did however get 2 - $50 restaurant.com gift cards. We tried signing up in the parking lot, since it was dinner time. Went to a place that was close... NO ONE was in the restaurant at 5 PM, which told us we should go elsewhere. I'll do an update later if I can edit this on the use of the cards.
Here's what I see wrong with this deal. You don't own anything (with Silverleaf, I have a deed in TX). You are paying RCI for excess inventory. As a regular RCI member, you can find many of the same deals as a regular RCI member, you don't have to be a member of GEVC. The numbers tell a different story than the sales pitch. I didn't get the gift I was promised. Yes, I will have maintenance fees forever, and we probably use Silverleaf an average of every other month.
There's one in Branson, MO a little more than an hour from my daughter in AR and another in Festus, MO, about an hour from my mom in IL. Am I 100% satisfied with Silverleaf? Of course not. But I see me being much happier than what I have, with full access to RCI versus GEVC. If you have a large family and your entire family can use as advertised, I see it as being a better deal. My wife and I each have one child and neither would use it anywhere near enough to justify the costs. Best of luck to everyone!

We end up turning it down, we got our deposit back, and we received a free 3 day, 2 night vacation and a 8 day, 7 night vacation. We haven't paid the deposits yet because I'm still on the fence about this. On the short trip, we have to pay $50 and on the long trip, we have to pay a $75 deposit. We haven't paid yet because I wanted to see if anyone else paid and took the trip. I want to know if there are any additional fees or problems with booking these trips. To be honest, I don't know if GEVC is a scam or not, but this is a review of our experience with cancelling the contract and receiving our money back. To lead off: My wife and I came across the promotion team booth while at Six Flags Fiesta Texas in San Antonio. We spun the promotion wheel and of course we won a "free" trip. We knew this was a promotion for a timeshare company as we attended one of the presentations before and knew the trip wasn't really "free". Well of course we attended the presentation and were prepared for the relentless pressure and we were bound and determined not to purchase anything but was there only for the trip.
Well, the GEVC presentation and our given was so well done, relaxing and there was no pressure at all by the presenter nor our representative so well in fact that we decided to purchase (again without any pressure) because we thought this was an outstanding deal. All the prices were given upfront $9,385 to purchase which was cheaper than the $20,000 from our previous timeshare presentation experience. We were given a $2000 discount for a price of $7385, we were excited and jumped on the chance and put the entire amount on a credit card. Again, I don't know if GEVC is a great deal or not, but there were some "red flags".
First, during the presentation, they pulled up some locations from their website to show some prices. After the presentation, we asked if they could pull up the Aulani resort in Hawaii (which is one of their locations) so we could see the rooms and prices, but they wouldn't (first red flag). When we were signing all the paperwork we asked when we could get a password and access the website to get a start on using the club, but was told we would get it with a package in about a month. When you drop that much money on a product, you should have instant access to the product you purchased and not have to wait a month to have access said product (2nd red flag). With today's technology, access to web-based accounts should be instant.
When we went home we were excited, but for some reason felt like we made a mistake. I started to research GEVC, wish I had done this prior to the presentation, but did not like what we found. Of course NO company has a 100% positive review, but the overwhelming negative reviews about GEVC were disturbing. Yes there should be negative reviews along with positive reviews, but when strikingly vast majority of the reviews are negative, then there is something wrong (3rd red flag).
Not really knowing if we made the right decision with GEVC, we decided to cancel our contract. We signed our contract on 15 April 2017, I mailed the contract rescission on 19 April 2017, and GEVC refunded the full amount of $7,385 back to my credit card on 26 April 2017 (a week after I mailed the letter and 11 days after we purchased). I did not send the cancellation by priority nor express, but I did send it certified. If you decide to cancel make sure you do it within the 7 days stipulated in the contract. So in the end we are satisfied with GEVCs return of our money. Again, I do not know what the issues are when trying to reserve a timeshare after purchase. If we were able to browse their site after the presentation and given a login after we purchased, we probably would not have canceled regardless of the reviews, just too many red flags with respect to the money we spent.

Eugene, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on your experience with our company. GEVC is a timeshare company. We understand that ownership is not for everyone, and we respect your decision.

My wife and I joined GEVC in January. The only complaint we have is how long it took for our account to be set up. It took a little over a month. As soon as the account was ready, our representative helped us book a trip to Orlando for spring break. We just got back and we had an amazing time. I was concerned when we first joined because of the reviews. I'm not sure where they come from. It seems like most of them don't even come from members... Our experience so far has been wonderful.

Robert, thank you for taking the time to write a positive review about your experience with our company. We’re happy to hear about your experience.

This business is a complete waste of time and money. Owning a timeshare thru GEVC is not cost effective or convenient as they claim. You will incur unexpected and raising out of pocket expenses. And rest assure as long as you own the timeshare you can expect these expenses to rise, and you will not see a single added free benefit. My advice to you is save your money. Book your vacations yourself or thru a reliable travel agent. You will have more options and flexibility. Also you will know what you're getting and you will skip the rising cost of so called maintenance fees.

I was ready to give a 4 or 5 star review of GEVC Irving, but that changed during the last 10 minutes or so of my 90 minute presentation into GEVC/RCI Points. My sales rep BJ and his manager Tim would have and should be noted that they were fantastic in not only making myself and my wife feel comfortable (for the most part) when we declined to signing up for the timeshare. They were knowledgeable and friendly throughout the 90+ minutes that we were there. The ONLY thing that made me go from 4 stars to 2 stars was when they sent me and my wife to speak with someone from "corporate" for what they said would be a survey of how they did in presenting etc... We were ready to give them both good reviews. BUT there was No survey at all given by the corporate representative (who I cannot remember her name unfortunately).
It was clear early on that she was the "closer" and instead of a survey it was about 10 minutes of making us feel not only stupid but she was blatantly rude to us and extremely condescending towards both myself and my wife. It basically confirmed our decision to NOT join GEVC if in fact she represents anything corporate they are in big trouble as a company and we are glad we passed on joining after speaking with her. "Why did you come here?" "What do you mean, it's just not for you?" Questions that I had already answered in detail with BJ and Tim not 5 minutes before. At the time, I knew what was going on and what she was attempting to do which is hard sell us on the timeshare and/or make us feel like idiots for not joining. Bad Decision by them to send us to her and bad Decision by her to act that way.
Now, instead of suggesting to my family and friends that they give GEVC a chance I will not be doing suggesting it to anyone and that is based 100% on how SHE treated us. People are skeptical of these types of things because of people who act like she did. I was so ready to give them a good review, it is a bummer it went down that road. BJ and Tim said "it is not for everyone and we understand." That is the type of response that we respected as consumers and should be the standard. The only other reason it is not a 1 star is because at the end of the day it was about 90 minutes as promised and we were given our $40 back plus the gift that got us in there in the first place. That I can say is what gave GEVC the extra star. They did stick to their word.
For the most part, if you are deciding to go and see the presentation I will say it is done pretty well and we were comfortable nearly the whole time. It just is sour grapes when they send you to speak to the high and mighty "corporate" rep for a quick survey and it turns into a used car sales approach. Very lame way to end our 90 minutes GEVC. Disappointed.

Found this group at the travel convention in Los Angeles, wish I never did. They ask for a "Fully Refundable Deposit" to attend their sales presentation promising a free 3-day trip after attending. I signed my girlfriend and I up for a timeshare presentation only to realize we couldn't attend due to a time conflict. When approached a second time to request a refund the sales staff was very cold and immediately informed me the only way the deposit could be refunded is by attending the presentation. It was the same day, requesting cancellation within 30 minutes and they refused to void the transaction. They lost nothing by having me cancel yet they were not amicable towards giving me my "Refundable Deposit" back. SHAME. I hope this company goes out of business because their shady deals are NOT OK!

Our 90-minute presentation turned into 4 hours and like everyone else, we were conned into buying this worthless timeshare. They lie from the very beginning. The free gifts are worthless, they can't be redeemed. The presentation is all a lie. They drag you into buying by showing you beautiful properties in sunny states. Properties they say are available whenever we decide to vacation. And what's not to believe, they are bringing up all this information, supposedly from their website. "You can vacation when and where you want" they claim over and over again. So while my husband and I were looking over their book of various properties we could go whenever we want, we inquired about RV camping. At the time our person told us we could camp at Thousand Trails. This was great we thought. We can really go where ever we wanted.
We signed multiple papers. After signing, I realized I did not see anything about RV camping. We asked to speak to the manager while we were still there. He tried telling us that everything was included and we would see that in our welcome packet. We also got the disclaimer that we had 7 days to cancel; however, you can't log onto their website to check anything out until they send you a login which takes 30 days. We finally received our login information and research the website. We immediately called GEVC and tried to convince them to get us out of this awful deal and to refund our money. No matter what we said, they always went back to the fact we signed a contract and we had only 7 days to get out of it. My husband and I call it the POS (Piece of Crap) timeshare. We have had it for four years now and have yet to use it once. Every time we look for someplace we want to go, nothing is available.
Sure, we can stay in Palm Springs in mid summer (120 degrees outside). There are plenty of timeshares available then. They are certainly not the quality I was shown during the presentation. Most of these "condos" are converted hotels. Nothing like what we saw during the presentation. We were also told we could go to all-inclusive in Mexico. That is also a complete joke. The all-inclusive fees are ridiculous. You can certainly find a better deal on Expedia. I think our final straw was when we were late paying our fee with RCI, they actually tried charging us a fee for not using the timeshare. We argued that nothing is ever available where we want to go. They finally agreed to remove the charge.
GEVC is completely deceiving and is only out to get your money. They suck in people who are unfamiliar with the process. They give you no time to research their company. They prey on their victims making false promises until you cave. This company should be shut down. Does anyone know if a class action lawsuit has been file against GEVC? IF there isn't one, I think there should be. Is there any lawyer interested in taking on this case? Has anyone tried to sue them in small claims court and did you win?

The book that has the clubs properties looks great but you can't actually ever get enough points to use those properties (even if you save & carry-over points for years). There are no properties in many places we want to go and the properties they do have are either unavailable at any time of year or cost too much. The cruise deals are also a scam - we can get cruises MUCH cheaper on our own & don't have to use points. I went to a new owners meeting to complain. I was told "yes, they have several locations in Seattle." Tried again to plan trip to Seattle. I couldn't pull anything on my travel dates. Called member services. They even told me they have no locations in Seattle. Tried to plan vacations where I have family in Thailand and Japan. Sure, GEVC has locations there -- but in remote areas nowhere near where my family lives.
Also, those promotional vouchers they entice you with to get you to go to their presentations??? What a joke. I mailed in my certificates and have yet to get my free promo trips. I was pushed by very aggressive sales representatives to buy this package! I was told after I asked repeatedly that this was not an exchange. Meaning where we exchange x plot for y. I found out soon afterwards it was! Also that I own essentially nothing! Just some points! To understand why I was suckered into this, you have to look at the entire picture from the beginning. We were put into a room which had loud music pumping throughout the place. It was hard to hear the sale agent. I am old, 65, and I could not hear them very well. I kept asking questions and they kept putting free options on it. They demanded I use a credit card. I did not want to use, even though Wells Fargo was right next door. They pushed and pushed for me to sign it right there and then. They would not let me leave the building, to get my Wells Fargo number.
Their attitudes, very pushy and were selling very hard. They gave me a trip voucher to Vegas, which I did fill out, and have not received anything for. None of the numbers worked either. They called me an owner! Yet I do not own anything. I have to wait for Owners to donate their time for their properties then I am allowed to use points which I apparently bought, to pay an additional weekly fee to use this property. I kept asking, "Is this an exchange?" They told me NO. The agreement was to have the contract rescinded up to seven days from the receiving of the escrow papers. Once I received them, even after countless tries to cancel it before. They were non cooperative. Hostile, rude.
I obtained legal advice from my lawyer who contacted them and asked that they deal through him. They agreed. Not only did they not listen, they kept leaving me phone messages. They are still continuing to post me letters. My lawyer again contacted them, yet they persist to contact me. They do not abide by their own word. I demand that they rescind my contract and return my down payment. I have not used any of their services nor do I want to. I was sold something entirely else that I ended up buying. I do not want anything more than a refund and a rescinding of the contract. I do not wish them ill however I do want my money back and the freedom of mind.

GEVC is a total SCAM!!! DO NOT BE FOOLED LIKE WE WERE. We purchased the timeshare at the end of April but were not given access to look up vacations and hotel availabilities until 2 1/2 weeks after Escrow closing. We received our login the first week of June. The day we received the login we went online to try and book a vacation for August. There was no availability for Southern California. Every date we tried for the next year was not available. We instantly realized we would not be able to use this timeshare. We called immediately to cancel but were told we only had 7 days to cancel after escrow closing, yet we couldn't even see if we could use it until over 14 days after escrow closing. They know exactly what they are doing by holding back access to the RCI membership and completely scam the consumer!!!
We purchased and paid for 10,000 points which are provided by RCI. The documents we have say you can cancel with RCI at any time. But GEVC says you can't cancel with them only RCI. Yet we bought the points from RCI. Another manipulation and tricky SCAM on their part. They say you can book a hotel for $70 a night. We tried getting a hotel thru RCI for August since we couldn't use timeshare and they only had 1 hotel a 3 star for $199.00 a night. We checked Expedia and they have a 4.3 star hotel for $165.00 a night. This is beyond disappointing. We put down money, are on a monthly payment plan at 20% interest, have paid the yearly dues and we can't even use the membership nor get a hotel cheaper than EXPEDIA that is completely free for us to use.
Again, SCAM and lies by GEVC. This timeshare is the worst purchase we have ever made. We were completely scammed, given false information and everything the salesperson said to us was a lie. They even told us to cancel our hotel with Expedia in August and apply the funds to the timeshare and book it thru them. Unfortunately we thought they were honest and listened to them. :((( We are looking into pursuing legal action.

They called my husband several times, telling him that if he goes to the presentation he will receive a free trip to Hawaii. In the third called we agreed to attend to the meeting. Once there, they ask for our credit cards, and we went to a room waiting to be called by a person. A man called us, he seems to be a really nice person. He started talking with us about his life, and his great experience using the membership. Then, we went to another room and they displayed a video, and after the video a man was showing all the great villas you can rent for just 269.00 a week, with NO EXTRA FEES, and he said "You can choose one, two or three bedroom units, whatever you want. You just have to choose."
Then we went back with the first guy. He show us a magazine with all the hotels they have available, and I was really happy because they have several units in the Dominican Republic, my country, as we were planning to visit my family we considered the offer a great opportunity. We've been told that we can use our 10,000 points to book a place for the whole week, they never mentioned that we need to pay 209.00 to use the points. Then when we showed interest, the manager came to us to ask if we have another question and I asked him if we need to pay something extra considering that we were going to the Dominican Republic and most resorts there are all-inclusive, and he said no, and that's why we decided to join the club.
After 6 weeks waiting for our ID number to be able to access to the website and start looking for our ideal vacation, we found out that we have to pay thousands dollars for mandatory all inclusive fees, and to discovered that using booking, expedia or trivago would be cheaper and easier than using their site, and there's nothing worthy for 10,000 points. We discovered that we're going to be paying thousands of dollars for a useless membership. My husband and I were very disappointed, and now we are looking for an attorney. The gentlemen who assisted us after the presentation was very helpful and professional. Not once did he pressure us! This actually sold itself. We signed up for it and were very excited. However, after carefully reviewing the contract and reading all the reviews from people that actually have tried this out, we decided to cancel since we are still in our grace period. They do provide the information on how to cancel, and even the lady at the escrow company was very friendly and helpful and gave us detailed steps on how to cancel which is super simple. I did look up a few forums and found that there are many satisfied users and even gave detailed information on how to use the point system.
This isn't for everyone including myself and my husband, but there are some people that actually enjoy this and actually went to the orientation on how to use the point system, which is not mentioned on any of the negative comments I keep seeing on here. Did any of you actually try it out? I take full responsibility for signing up and not reading the contract beforehand and luckily, I do have time to cancel. Read the contract people, it is very specific and detailed. As for the free gift: We are grateful, and even if it is 1 day to Hawaii so what! It's free. And if we have to pay taxes on this trip then so be it. It's the law! 1 day to Hawaii for someone that has never been there and can only dream of going is a dream come true. I don't think this is a scam, I just don't think it's for everyone.

I was cold called to attend the 90 mins presentation and offered to get free vacation as a gift last October 2014. We went there and sat through the presentation. After the presentation, the sell rep told us about the deal we could get which is $499/week anywhere in the world in the catalog for 4 times per year. We were quite interested because they mentioned in the presentation that they are affiliated with Aulani (Disney Hotel in Hawaii) and we just have a new born at that time, so we thought it would be worth it. His manager came in and offered us that he would remove the 4 times per year capped if we signed with them today. It sounded like a good deal to stay anywhere in that book for $499/week, so we signed up. After 2 months with their escrow, I finally was able to log in their website after I got their account ID and PW through mail.
I was stunned that it was not like what they told me about how easy to book and I can book my vacation in Hawaii for $499/week. I called their office number and the lady told me that $499 is the average and I bought the points, so I have to trade my point to book the resorts. With my 10,000 points, you can barely book anything decent. I was super upset and I told her that I wanted to cancel, but she said that it had passed the cancellation period which is like 7 days after I signed up. She didn't care anything and told me that my wife and I signed the contract, there is nothing she could do. Don't get scammed... like we were. We filled out a survey at a concert we attended, and were called a few weeks later and told we had won a vacation to Hawaii! I have always wanted to take my husband there, and though I figured there was a catch and it wouldn't be great, I wasn't prepared for GEVCs well-run scam.
First, we had to attend a slick 90 minute timeshare presentation. It sounded like a good deal ($200 for a week, almost anywhere!), so we bought in. Bad choice. Turns out that the "vacation" we won was a two night, one day worthless deal in Honolulu. Second, I've been trying for two months to find something that our 10,000 points could get us (or even 20,000 points, you can save up one year). Well, we can forget Hawaii -- there is literally nothing available there at that level except for a single bug-filled, rundown horror show. Well, what about Mexico? All the places we want to go are mandatory All-Inclusive -- which means another $200-$500 per person, per day, on top of the $219 booking fee. OK, what about Tahiti? Airfare is $2000 EACH.
They have lots of availability in boring timeshare condos in the US, but not even anything in the one city we want to go to in Canada. After literally being unable to find anything worth going to, I am already looking to sell my timeshare at a loss. Anybody want to spend a few thousand dollars on a useless timeshare program? Please?

I bought this timeshare around 2012! When my family decided to go on a vacation we tried calling the number they had on the portfolio they gave us! It didn't work! So we went to the place they had us do our presentation! The place was already closed! So we stopped paying them. When we did that, they contacted us saying we could book a vacation a year in advance! I told well "It's too late for that!" We decided not to pay anymore! I decided to contact the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and file a complain against them! By this time they have a collection agency against me calling non-stop. Then I got a reply back from the BBB saying that this company does not exist.
So when the collection agency called again I told them what the BBB told me. That this company doesn't exist. But they said it does! I asked for an address and a phone number from the collection agency so that I could forward it to BBB. They say they can't give it to me! They are trying to collect money from me! From a company that the BBB says doesn't exist anymore. I told them that. Then the collection agency called me back again. Said the same thing. But this time they asked for the letter from the BBB. Told the collection agency I would email it to them. They gave me a bogus email. Sent it 4 different times from different emails. It didn't work. So never ever buy this timeshare. It's a scam and a fraud. You will waste your money! Your time! And you will end up having a bad credit because of this POS company.

This company cold calls you and says if you come to a 90 minute presentation you will get a 3 day 2 night trip with Air to Hawaii, Los Cabos, Las Vegas or San Francisco. After asking for all kinds of personal info they try to set you up with a time to go. The first caller, from India, gives you the canned pitch and gets you ok for a time. The second caller from the Philippines goes over the info and tries to get even more personal info out of you. She then tells you about the trip which does not include the destinations the first caller says would be included. You then get an email confirmation of the presentation and your travel gift. The email is broken English and has a 1970's image of Vegas as the only gift you get, not the other destinations promised by the call center in India. The email also comes from a Gmail account and not a business account.
There are so many complaints on the web about this company and I can't understand why they are allowed to use these business practices in the US. You get to the presentation and they want to see a credit card. They make you listen and after the presentation you get nothing but an opportunity to see if you are eligible for the gifts they promised on the calls. You are now then have to pay a fee to see if you are still eligible. This is a total scam as you will read if you Google this company. I also heard from a Member Services rep Derek ** who said the marketing company is not their problem and I need to talk with them. Try calling any number they provide and it will be disconnected or a message will play. STAY AWAY from this scam and fraud. They will get your information and scam you.

After waiting weeks for my member I.D. so that I can actually go online and look for properties....I was shocked to see what a pain, and all of the points required to rent places. I was pretty mad since the sales pitch I received was that I ONLY had to pay a flat HOA due and yearly due and then would be paying a set rate for weekly rentals. NOBODY mentioned anything about all of the transaction fees required to do anything. As well, how difficult it would be to find anything because 10,000 points wasn't enough for Anything! Plus they keep telling me how I would be SAVING money and it did make sense when you DIDN'T include all of the fees. But I actually would be spending a lot more than I normally do. A LOT of misleading info and omitted info. I just want out now! Am starting to talk to an attorney, will see how it goes.

Been a GEVC shareholder since February 2011 and have never been able to use, not once, my points due to RCI ineptitude in getting me the my desired resort or promising to call me back but never getting call back. Paying GEVC for the timeshare and RCI for the use of the resort is a great source of income for these two companies. I just talked with a GEVC agent and he was adamant that use of my points has to be thru RCI and nobody else. Being an "owner" of the advertised resorts does not entitle a member to any benefit without RCI. All these times I was of the impression that I had the tool to get a decent vacation without too much hassle from my GEVC timeshare with my points which I have been losing annually due to the non-availability of requested vacation request and stand to lose another 21,000 points for this year again due in part to my decision not to renew my subscription with RCI for leaving a bad impression on its actions.

This place is awful and a scam. They make promises and then steal your money. This place is nothing more than your typical timeshare company. Do not let them tell you any differently. 1st they will have you go through the worst 90 minutes of your life to supposedly get a trip somewhere. Totally not worth it unless you want to spend months waiting. 2nd oh wow, they tell you you can be spontaneous and get discounts. Please be real kayak, Priceline have way better vacation packages and you don't have to pay for a timeshare.
3rd, ok so you pay to have a timeshare, which is points but calculate that. You are always going to have to pay maintenance fee. And of your finance you are looking at probably 30k over the life of the timeshare plus you still have to pay to occupy. 10000 points don't get you much. They brag about getting villas and things. Nope, you have to pay more. So there is no point in paying all this money for a scamming company preying on families!!

My wife and I joined GEVC in 2007 and planned on using our timeshare over and over for the next 20 years or more. But as time went by, we noticed our window of opportunity to book vacations was short and not much to choose from. In 7 years of membership, we only used it maybe 5 times! Once to Hollywood Florida, but the old motel on the beach was infested with bugs, smelled and was worse than a Motel 6. We left after 1 night. We used a special offer they called us on, a 2 in 1 package, one by cruise ship and one by land. We paid up front, $2,995.00 for both, and chose Alaska and Hawaii. Upon booking the cruise to Alaska, they said it would cost $835 additional for port fees, and all side excursions in Alaska we wanted to try, also were up to us to pay! It costs us over $4,500.00 just for Alaska. Hawaii was also expensive. We had to pay our own airfare, and a rental car to see Honolulu in full. The hotel they gave us in Honolulu charged $25.00 per day for parking our rental car in their lot. We paid over $3,00.00 for that trip.
Our membership with GEVC sure pays for everything ha ha. So a 2 in 1 trip was way over the $2,995.00 they quoted it would only cost for both. We have tried many times to book trips with GEVC, but find nothing available when we seek to go. So after 7 years of membership, and still owing over $5,500.00 in ownership fees, we tried to cancel our membership in Dec 2013. "No can do," they said, "You have a lifetime debt, and must pay what you owe." We stopped paying in Dec 2013, and quit answering their calls.
On June 26, 2014, they sent us a letter of Surrender Of Membership. It states the undersigned, release and surrender the GEVC membership dated Dec 2007 and the RCI points it represents for a one time offer of $2,000.00. They state if we do not agree to this offer, our credit will be ruined, and their collection agency will go after our property! My wife and I want out so bad, we both agree it is in our best peace of mind to pay the money and be done with them! So in short, if you want out of a timeshare, quit paying them, don't answer their calls, and after a few months, they will finally agree to let you off the hook. We learned the hard way to not ever get involved with a timeshare again. Good Luck To All Others In This Vacation SCAM!

BEWARE!!! Like many of you who saw the sign like me on a billboard for Hawaii for $99...PAY CLOSE ATTENTION! This billboard is for a timeshare presentation! They are very deceptive and cunning in their sales tactics! I actually signed a contract with this place in 2014 through Global Exchange Vacation Club (GEVC), but I cancelled within a 7-day period as allowed by CA law. FYI, GEVC is associated with Resort Vacations Inc., which they sign you up for RCI Points. During the presentation, I was informed that I could travel practically anywhere in the world with my membership. I was even told I could get airfare for up to 25% off for being a RCI member. In fact, my sales rep informed me that I could stay anywhere for my 10,000 points allotted each year; however, upon investigating by actually talking with RCI support, I came to realize the deception GEVC was feeding me. The 10,000 points can ONLY get you a 7 day stay for last minute resorts when booking within a 30 day window. Of course, there are scores of places around the world that you can book last minute, but as everyone knows that when you book a hotel/resort last minute, you are going to pay sky rocket airfare prices!
Even though my sales rep said that the company does NOT hide anything...I noticed that when I was signing a contract, there was something hidden about membership dues during the 2nd year of membership of $124 and $124 for every year thereafter. When I brought this to my sales rep's attention, he said, "Didn't I tell you that? " followed by, "I will see about getting that taken care of". Of course, as soon as he said these very words, I knew he was lying to me and that it would never be taken care of. Now here is the best part, when you sign up, you are NOT allowed to have access to what you paid for, for a period of time up to 2 months. This means you cannot gain access to the RCI website or book anything. I believe with all my heart that the reason why they don't give you what you pay for, for 2 months is to wait for any possible escape clauses in contracts and California law.
When I did some research online about this place, it yield many different business names with different individuals and phone numbers. It looks very shady to me. For your information about rights, check out CA Business and Professions Code sections 11235, 11238, & 11239.
Lastly, the prices do NOT add up! They make everything sound way way overpriced! It's just not worth it in the end. Let me spell out to you, various fees involved with this company. You have the original price they try to sell you on the contract...starting around $10,000. Of course, if you reject this offer, they bring someone else over who will try and sell it to you for a few thousand dollars off this price. And of course, if you reject this offer, you get to go to the final closer who tried to sell it for even cheaper than the last price offered. So, if you stay 7 days during your first year of membership, you pay $209 for a 7-day last minute booking + whatever the jacked up rate of airfare is + the original contract price you paid. You have to ask yourself if it is all worth it in the end.
What about the crappy Hawaii offer they give to you for attending the presentation? You get a "2" night stay in Oahu with round-trip airfare for two people, which probably will cost you around $300, but here is the catch...you must leave on a Tuesday and return 2-days later on a Thursday. Also, departure time is anywhere from 1pm-7pm and return from 6am-1pm. DO THE MATH...that is only "1" full day to spend in Hawaii. This means you get to spend 8+ hours just in waiting for your plane and travel and departure your first day/night, THEN you get to spend 8+ hours just in waiting for your plane and travel and departure when you leave Oahu. You sacrifice at least 16 hours of your time and at least $300 to only spend one full day on Oahu...is it even worth it?

Robert, we apologize for any misunderstanding regarding our offerings. At GEVC, transparency and customer satisfaction are paramount. Our aim is to provide comprehensive travel opportunities to our members. We take allegations of deceptive practices seriously and strive for clear communication about membership benefits, fees, and vacation packages.

I was several months behind on an existing account and asked for a quote to bring my account current. I was told that $508.00 would bring my maintenance fees current and agreed to this fee. When I checked my bank account an additional $175.00 dollars had been charged separately to my account without my authorization. When I complained they said an additional $175.00 due and that they had discussed it with me. They never discussed this with me. I also agreed to pay $2,077.00 to bring my membership up to date. Membership is separate from maintenance fees. Membership is due every month while maintenance fees are only due once a year.
This $2,077.00 was to bring my account current. Today I received a bill stating that there is a late charge balance of $165.00 and that a current payment of 161.62 is also due for a total of $326.62 by July 5, 2014. Please note that today is only May 27, 2014. My balance for this account is also $4.520.08. This membership is only worth $6,000.00 and there are at least three years of previous payment. My complaint is also that when I made the $2077.00 payment my account balance is only $4,200.00 and with the payment the remaining balance should only be about $2,100.00. Instead of crediting my old account this company started a new account and new balance of nearly $7,000.00, but then charged late fees as if it where an old account.
I have noticed this in the past and have never seen the likelihood that my account will ever be paid off, and that the main goal of this company is to keep the billing process going and bring forward bogus charges to keep the member from ever paying off their account. My goal is to pay off my account and only have to pay maintenance fees once a year. This is fraud because it does not lead to the redemption of the deed for the consumer.

I purchased a package from RCI/Global Vacation Exchange. My daughter and I were told $349.00 was the most I would ever pay for a week's stay, anywhere in the world, and that price was for a three-bedroom condo. I was not allowed to talk to anyone about a trip or a price until after I made a down payment of $800.00. I tried to make my first vacation to Hawaii for a one-bedroom condo, and to my shocking surprise, after paying $800.00 down, I called to make MY FIRST reservation and found out a week's stay plus air fare would be well over $1,500.00. I AM STILL DISMAYED. Why would I need to pay you $8,000 so I can pay more for a vacation than I would pay through AAA? And then take my savings for my vacation and pay you every month not to take a vacation?
I am SICK over the whole thing and the way I have been treated, the way I have been talked to and clearly the way you all LIED, SCAMMED, beat and cheated your way into my bank account. After seeing and understanding the scam, I told them to just cancel me and refund me my $800.00 back and I will just walk away. I was told that could not happen.
Before I could make my first Vacation plan, I have received HARASSING and THREATENING phone calls stating how RCI will go after my credit and destroy it, how they will report me every month and add on to that a foreclosure if I don't pay more money. (Derrick) RCI calls me every day, three and four times a day, disrupting my job all day long, even sending threatening letters. Derrick and Adrian continue to explain on an average, two figures were given me, $199 the least I would pay and $349 the most I would pay. I am told an average of that could be a $1000.00 and/or more depending on where I go. That is not what my daughter and I were told.
It took thirty days before I could even talk to anyone in the office, or make a reservation. Yet I am told I cannot cancel. I was told it would take that long to get me into the system. Even after that, they could not find me for weeks later. The people I purchased it from were all so kind during the purchase; after the purchase, everyone shut me out.
All I want is to take my vacation for the price I was quoted and for your company to be honest and forthcoming. You breached my contract with my first reservation; however, if you do right as you said, I will yet pay for my vacation time share. That's if you do what you promised!!!!!!

I purchased a vacation club, a kind of timeshare, on 12/27/2009. The escrow was closed the first week of February 2010. I attended owner's orientation on Sunday, 3/7/2010. The vacation club owner's orientation was not consistent with the purchased contract. The following items were not disclosed during purchase:
In the presentation, one saleswoman said that a 42,000-point would give me a 3-week vacation per year for free anywhere in the world. On owner's orientation, the first Sunday of March 2010, a man stated that if I want to go to a week vacation, I should pay $193.00 with my points and if I do not want to use my points, I can pay $243.00. Money from pocket never mentioned during the contract signing day. All of the promotional air ticket, car rentals, Las Vegas 3 nights free hotel, and 4 nights cruise to the Bahamas were bogus. They don't work. I was not informed cancellation verbally and I was not given time to read all pages I had signed. I was not given enough time to read through the papers I signed. I did not even know there was $124.00 for RCI annually membership payment.
My friend and I got to their Woodland Hills office around 2:00PM and left a little after 6:00PM. I was told that RCI/GEVC will help me to rent my vacation points and helps me for tax write-off. I. I was also told that I can rent or sell my points and that will help to pay monthly dues. I called RCI a month ago and asked them if I can have a vacation place in San Jose or St. Louis, in July of 2010, but they said they do not have any resort or hotel contract in these two cities. I called 888-757-2652 on 5/10/10 to register to Las Vegas for 5/13/2010, as I was told for last minute registration. I was told they do not have place in Vegas but in Mesquite, which is about 80 miles away for Vegas and I should pay also about $110.00 per day.
Again, for last minute registration, I called to register that day at 888-757-2652 and asked if I can have hotel/resort for 5/13/10. I was told that I should have called three days in advance. So what does last minute means to GEVC/RCI? I have never used Global Exchange vacation club, either the promotion or through the club. Therefore, I was not able to cancel it due to the time frame for the cancellation passed. When I complained to the authorities, the answer I get was "she signed up." Now GEVC/RCI has sent my account to collection and messed up my credit. I need someone to hear me.

I was called by someone who promised me that I had "won" a free trip. After that, they called me numerous times and bothered me. I finally said I would listen to them. They said that I would get a fully paid round trip ticket for 2 to Las Vegas after I listened to a 90-minute presentation. So I decided to go. I just got home, what a nightmare! I was passed back and forth between salesmen that basically told me nothing except that I needed to give them $1300 today or I will never be invited to join their club again. I don't know about you, but I don't go around with that kind of money in my pocket, so I told them I need a few days to think about it. They told me if I don't do it today, I can't ever do it in the future.
The music was playing on full blast, so it was very hard to hear and understand the salesmen. When we started asking questions, they answered us with very little information. Our salesperson got very nervous and kept looking for his manager to answer us. Finally, the manager told us that if we wanted to know more, that after we join and give them $1300 today, then I could return in a month to have our questions answered. Also, they told us that we weren't allowed to come with anyone else besides our spouse. I gave the person on the phone my in-laws' phone number and told them I wasn't going to the meeting unless they joined us. So the person at the call center made arrangements for us all to be there together. However, they said that we shouldn't tell them that we knew each other, which seemed strange. Why wouldn't I be able to travel with family? And if that was the case, why would they book us to be at the same meeting at the same time?
They continued to harass me and my in-laws that we went with and actually, they pushed my sister-in-law and the police showed up. The police told us that they constantly see people picketing outside of the office and it's a known scam. I'm terrified that I gave them my personal info and I feel very threatened by them. Now, I'm pretty sure as well that I won't get my free Vegas trip either. They gave me a piece of paper that I'm supposed to mail in to get my vouchers, but I'm very suspicious.

On November 13th 2009, my husband and I attended a seminar at the Woodland Hills branch because of an offered gift of two free plane tickets to anywhere. We asked Terra W., our sales rep. if there were any negatives with the company and what people complained about most. She said there were no negatives and that people complained about getting the vacation spot they wanted when they wanted it. The deal sounded good so we signed the agreement with Jenny L. who told us that we had 45 days to review and cancel.
On December 6th 2009, we attended the first orientation available. Red flags went up immediately. Hidden fees were exposed. We asked to speak with a rep and told Jenny we wanted to cancel the membership. She said, "Why don't you just go on a vacation and see what you think." After that I contacted an attorney and had them send a letter of cancellation. I filed a compliant with the BBB. I wrote them myself. And then I filed a small claims suit against them to retrieve my initial deposit that I gave them on November 13th.
Mr. S. got a continuance, then he didn't show up so I won the judgment. Then he filed to cancel the judgment. I won the second judgment, and now he's filed an appeal. You see when Terra W. told me there were no negatives with the company, she failed to disclose that there was an on going Class Action suit against RCI at the time we signed the agreement. They committed fraud. And I have that in writing! I am confident that I will win this appeal. Jenny L. also lied about the 45 day cancellation period. It is actually 7 days. Scandalous! They need to be shut down. I hope this helps anyone out there thinking of joining this fraudulent operation. I've spent 8 months fighting this thing. I had to send court documents to all the credit companies because they were trying to ruin my credit because I refused to pay any bills or fees. And I spent attorney fees and documents fees and time off work at the court house.

My husband and I attended a presentation at Global Exchange Vacation Club (GEVC) in Woodland Hills, CA. You buy points and use them to stay at resorts, time shares, hotels, and bed and breakfast both domestic and abroad. The date of purchase is March 5, 2010. It was paid in full, $11485.00 for 30,000 point membership. We are having health problems and asked to rescind our contract on April 16, 2010.
We sent the 2nd request on May6th. We received response from the company stating "no" because it is a legally binding contract. At this point we have no idea how bad this club is because they had not provided a member number, basically rendering membership useless. On either the 30th of April or May 1st, I called and requested a membership number and one was provided. Members can only book trips on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
During the presentation of March 5th, I specifically asked about 2 properties. One was located in St. John and one was the Ritz Carleton hotels. We were told that is the great thing about GEVC. All we have to do is pay a small processing fee and use our points and we can stay in any hotel. This representation sold me on the program, and I called on May 1 at 7:04 am the GEVC provided phone number. Mylan answered, made some inquiring calls, and told me I must call another number. They answer Hilton Brand Vacation Club but she can transfer me. This phone was answered John Becks Free and Clear Property Sales.
At 7:51 I dialed a different number in the GEVC book and spoke with Nesbar. We can indeed stay at the Ritz in Tahoe for only 25,000 points plus $1479.30 in cash and a $29.00 transaction fee, for 5 days. It is worth noting that after this phone call, I immediately got on the computer and I could book our own deluxe room for $1495.00 for the same time period. This is a fraudulent representation and I am just sick that we joined this club. Is there any way we could get a settlement (or so), 70% money back and no payment of maintenance fees or taxes?!

On May 4th I attended a timeshare promo at the San Jose office of Global Exchange Vacation Club. They solicited the attendance by stating you would recv one of 5 gifts. After listening to the product promo and the subsequent sales pitch, I purchased 21K "points" at cost of $8,358.00. ($835.00 deposit) Upon signing, the attention in the room is drawn to the new signee and all are encouraged applaude the transaction. They then present to you your "free gift" for attending. In this case it was airfare for 2 and 2 nights stay at one of 5 destinations.
They circled our choice (Las Vegas) and again congtratulated us. The piece of paper they later referred to as a "rain check" stated we would recv our trip "certificate" within 4 to 7 business days and to call a number if this does not occur. On day 12 I contacted the company. They had no record of my purchase/name etc and suggested I call back in a few days. Becoming alarmed, I called back the following day at the number provided. They said they were unfamilar with what I was referring to and asked me to fax them a copy of what I was given. They finally said they found my agreement but they (the number I called) has nothing to do with what was issued by the promo seminiar.
Three phone calls later to the location I attended the seminar, they said that the certificate would be issued and mailed right away. (This is on the 17th) On the 22nd still nothing recv'd. Called again and they continued with administrative fingerpointing saying they had to print the certificates and I would be recv'ing it soon. Finally, on May 30th, afterover a dozen phone calls, I recv'd a certificate for airfare for 2 and 2 nights....but instead of the Las Vegas trip they congratulated us on, the certificate requires that we pick 3 different destination choices as your first pick could not be guaranteed. This is not what I was promised. It was not within the "4 to 7 days" they promised on the raincheck. I called the company to request a refund and cancelation of the contract as the company clearly is unable to competently execute even the first transaction nor fulfill their 1st committment. I was told that I had to have cancelled the contract within 11 days !! Seems they will only honor agreements that benefit them, not the consumer. I researched and found the company president, Robert Sargent. Messages to have him return my call went unanswered.
I finally filed a complaint with the better business bureau. I continued to attempt to reach Mr Sargent and was told by an employee on 6/4 that he had recv'd the BBB complaint and would respond to that and refused to take the phone call. Though the BBB requires the company to respond to the complaint within 14 days, as of this writing (6/21) he has not. I caution EVERYONE to beware. They peddle that these vacation "points" can be willed, gifted etc. Gifts of grief it appears. One can easily project standing in some airport or hotel 3,000 miles away to find that they just "cant find any record of your reservation, flight, etc".
Each employee that I spoke with were always polite and helpful (until I filed a complaint w/BBB) yet politness can't help if you're in another country and your return flight can't be found.

Connie, thank you for expressing your desire to cancel your membership. We apologize for any issues you may be facing and would like to assist you further. We understand that ownership may not be suitable for everyone, and we respect your decision. We apologize for the difficulties you faced in booking your trip and any inconvenience caused.
