I purchased a set of wheels from Tire Rack on February 22nd and they shipped later that day. They arrived the 24th. I opened the boxes to find that each wheel had damage and rust on them. I contacted Tire Rack on Monday the 26th of February during work hours and I was asked for pictures; 15 pictures were sent. All in individual emails since they were large. I re-emailed them the next day to hear back two days later on the 28th. I was told that they are sending me new wheels but they have to wait for American Racing to send them the wheels then they would ship them directly to me, which doesn't make sense but a poorly managed company will do that. The email also stated that when the new wheels comes in, I can use the new boxes to send the old wheels back in.
I never received an RA number or any other return directions pertaining to my order. I waited a few days to recontact since nobody reached out since. March 1st, I received an email with their return policy. Awesome. March 5th I hear back from Kasey (the CS person who I was emailing and calling) after an email wanting to know some kind of information about my return. I was given a new order number and I was told new tracking numbers will be sent to me when they are shipped out. Thanks for something! March 10th, I email Kasey again asking about the tracking numbers. She stated that they had not received the wheels yet from American Racing. After hearing nothing, the wheels arrived randomly March 17 later on in the day. Finally; something.
I bring the boxes into my garage to find only the white straps around the boxes without any kind of tape securing them. I cut the plastic and take the wheels out to find all of the wheels damaged again with chips and rust. I was done at that point. I emailed Kasey the next day on Sunday the 18th and heard back Monday the 19th of March in the morning. Kasey asked for pictures which I gladly sent. I didn't hear anything after. I called the next day and spoke with another representative that told me that she didn't see anything in my account about me sending pictures and that she'll leave a note for Kasey because she sent her a message with no response (no kidding?). I thanked her and moved on. I called back again today the 21st of March and spoke directly to Kasey.
I asked for the next return step like some kind of Return Authorization? She stated that she had UPS attempt to do pickups and gave me several dates. Say what? No. I told her that I was told to wait for the new wheel boxes in order to return the old wheels. Not much of a response after that. I was then told that there is a new return request now and they are due for pickup this Friday or Monday coming up. So, I'll put them on my front patio without any kind of info on them. Great work. We'll see. They better not say I sent them back too late. Customer from hell will crawl out from the depths. This experience has been awful! I'll never order Tirerack.com EVER again. I'm surprised the tires I got prior arrived in one piece.

I purchased 6 tires from Tire Rack in September 2017 for the winter snow season. I thought I was good to go. According to my invoice, there were 6 identifying numbers which I thought would be on the tires and in their system. However, I was told that the correct DOT numbers were not on the invoice or sent to the third party road hazard company that administers the road hazard program. Unfortunately, one of my tires was hit by something on the road and pierced the sidewall. Since it was a snow tire and it's now March 2018, another was not in stock locally. I called Tire Rack's "customer service" and Tire Rack could not validate my tires. The customer service rep was terrible and actually acted like I purchased the tires somewhere else. Through their incompetence, I did not have any the information required to file a claim even though I had my invoice which outlined the purchase.
I was told the numbers on the invoice are not the correct DOT numbers. So why include them??? The numbers on the outside of the tire were not correct, so I was told by Tire Rack and I needed to look on the inside of the tires and provide these numbers in order to validate the road hazard coverage. Can you believe it! In 25 to 30 degree weather with a foot of snow on the ground, I was supposed to somehow write down the numbers from underneath the car! Their error, their incompetence and their work is transferred to the customer. Tire Rack clearly does not care about their customers. I gave up on trying to deal with their customer service. I'll eat the loss myself. Do yourself a favor and deal with a local tire vendor and NEVER purchase tires from Tire Rack. Their warranties are as useless as their customer service representatives.

I placed an order last week and later asked for the order to be cancelled. A day later it was still pending and now I have found out that there is still a hold on my card. Your company has put me in a difficult financial situation with the current credit card hold. There should not have been a hold in the first place. This is not a rental car company and even they tell you up front that a hold will be placed on the card. I am going to tell other people on social media and make a complaint against this company.

I purchased new tires in Sept. Upon receiving new tires and driving for the first time on the highway, one tire disintegrated around the bead into rubber dust and caused a flat. I recently got another flat with the same wear, the rubber disintegrated around the bead. These tires were defected from the start. They replaced my first tire, but are refusing to replace this other one. The Tire Rack should consider themselves lucky I did not have a serious accident as both incidents were on the highway!

I started by ordering 4 new wheels for my car. Got my order in just a few days with very reasonable shipping. Took them to my local mechanic to mount, balance, and install the new wheels to my existing tires. After I dropped my car off the mechanic called and said I had wrong sized wheels for my current tires and that the air pressure sensor couldn't be transferred to the new wheel. I called Tire Rack and explained to them my mistake. The woman in customer service was very helpful and understanding and was able to quickly approve my return and transfer me to Todd in sales to place a new order. Tire Rack refunded my original shipping and didn't charge me return shipping either. Later before my replacement order had shipped I compared the price of having my mechanic mount and balance new wheels to old tires and install and new pressure sensor to what tire rack would charge for the same service just on new tires.
I found the mount and balance was free vs my mechanic charging $20 a tire. As well as the cost for 4 pressure sensors was only $108 from Tire Rack, the same service locally was $60 a tire. So I quickly called Tire Rack sales to add new tires and sensors to my wheel order. Once again I talked to Todd who was very happy to help me modify my order and update my shipping. Very satisfied so far! Later that day I decided to order an additional 4 wheels and tires from tire rack, these would be snow tires vs my all season I had already ordered. Everything online went well and I didn't have to make any additional calls.
The next day I got a call from tire rack, it was Todd again. He noticed I placed another order and wanted to know if I had meant to cancel my original order. I informed him that no I had indeed meant for there to be 2 orders, but I thanked him for his concern and punctuality! Overall I've had one of the best experiences I've ever had with a company. I will most certainly recommend them and shop from them again in the future!

I decided to buy 4 tires for my car with Tire Rack instead of my car's dealership so I could save $300. I got a set of tires shipped to the dealer, they installed it, balanced and charged me for labor. Drove the car and it is vibrating. Came back to the dealer the next day and they said there is a tire that is almost within the range of a defective tire. Called Tire Rack and they agreed to replace it. That means not only to go back and forth to the dealer again to have the replacement tire installed, but also to carry home a defective tire with you so UPS could pick it up because they don't pick up from the dealership.
Replacement tire installed and car still vibrating. Next day came back to the dealer and they agree to re-balance all 4 tires to double check they are ok. Car still vibrating. Called Tire Rack and they asked for the balance report which I sent. They call 2 days later saying 2 more tires need to be replaced. Obviously at this point I'm FED UP and frustrated and ask Tire Rack to pick up the 5 tires that I have from them and to give me a full refund. 2 days later they offer me the following "condition" in order to give me a refund:
1) That I need to bring the 5 tires home or to a FedEx location for shipping.2) That I must buy another set from the same brand.
3) THAT THEY WILL NOT REIMBURSE THE ORIGINAL SHIPPING COST (this is amazing).
4) That they will not pay for balancing the new set of tires that I need to buy from somebody else.
So now I lost a bunch of time, I had to pay for UBER a dozen times and I had to ask a friend to take the freaking defective tires out of the dealership because not even a single tire fits in my trunk. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY. IF THERE'S A MINIMUM PROBLEM WITH YOUR PURCHASE YOU WILL LOSE A LOT OF MONEY AND TIME. I really recommend buying tires from a physical store.

Well first of all I tried contacting their customer service to see how I could file a claim. Then they could not find my file because they spelled my last name and email incorrectly, so I never received an order number. So they tried to tell me I didn't have an order when my bank account clearly says different. I'll make a long story short. One tire had a bubble which they are trying to make road hazard claim under their warranty, and the tread of the other tire is separating and they want to say it was because of some damage from my tire rubbing the inside fender, so the damage just appears a year later? They will try to do everything to get out of replacing the tire. I spent 900$+ and only get 1 yr out of a tire that is under warranty for 4 yr minimum? EXTREME BAD SERVICE, BE AWARE BEFORE MAKING ANY PURCHASES. Once your money is in their hands they do not care about their customers at all. Glad to see I'm only one of 70+ customers.

Ordered 4 winter tires on rim that were delivered flat. After speaking to a representative I took them to mechanic who told me the stems leaked. Tire Rack sent 4 new tire/rims and they were flat again. Rim holes were not drilled properly and stem did not have good seal. The leak was so noticeable that you could hear it immediately after adding air yet no one at the company noticed that all 8 were leaking when they left the assembly line? Saga has lasted almost two months. Phone calls, emails and 2 trips to my mechanic. UPS has been to my house 9 times! Sometimes tire rack responds to my communication. Sometimes they don’t.
As I write this review I have been waiting 1. 5 hours for a supervisor to call me back. A supervisor was supposed to email me a week ago, to no avail. This has literally been the worst business experience in my 47 years. I can’t believe that the company can stay in business with this type of incompetence. Still waiting for someone to pick up the tires and refund my money. This may end up in small claims court. Anyone would be foolish to do business with them.

I tried repeatedly to place an order for tires on Tire Rack using their website. I ultimately had to call them. at 8:00 no one was promptly answering the phone. When I did get thru, I had to place my order with someone else, a salesperson who wanted to transfer me to still another person. I ultimately talked to 7 people including the service manager Donna. I told her of the time I spent ordering one set of tires, the 5th set of tires I have ordered from Tire Rack. I told her I made $25 an hour in working from home.
She said she would offer me $25 off of shipping. I accepted that. Then, the unmitigated gall of defending the practice of the company's poor service. I asked her: "Are you going to give me $25 dollars off of the shipping." She hung up on me. Never again will I buy from Tire Rack. Their website doesn't work and the help on a Monday is very, very poor. Thank you Tire Rack, for helping start the day just right. If you show up for work on a Monday, be prepared to work.

I have purchased many tires over the years, all delivered to my house. However, once they started "Recommended Installers" the problems began. I've had incorrectly installed tires (wrong rotation), inability to schedule an appointment (recommended installer has no appointment times for months), down to several last-minute cancellations.
During my last (and final!) order, when the recommended installer would not install my tires ("family emergency" was the cancellation excuse this time), I just asked them to deliver the tires to my HOUSE and I would get someone to do it AND THEY SAID NO. They were holding my tires hostage. So I disputed the charge via credit card (CC company couldn't believe Tire Rack was being so unprofessional) got the credit that day (I never ever received or saw the tires, just the charge!) and then bought the exact same tires from WALMART instead. WALMART had to order the tires, but they were there THE NEXT DAY and installed them while I waited. I will never again use Tire Rack; I hope you can learn from my experience.

She did call back with an rude attitude saying no refund but we will send you a new tire. Here's the Catch! I was to send back the bad one but... If it wasn't in new condition I would be Charged!!! After installing a tire and removing it can't be in new condition so I knew that was their gimmick to rip you off... This is my first time buying from Tire Rack. I ordered four CONTINENTAL EXTREMECONTACT DWS tires at 91.65 per tire. When I went to have the tires put on the first tire the body shop started to install blew out. I called, talked to Ella ** (who was very rude) and told her what happened. She said to take pictures of the blowout and email them to her. When I emailed her the photos I did not hear anything back in a week or more. I called and she emailed me saying it was the body shop's fault. So I said "Ok, I will return the other 3 tires that have never been used and take a 90 dollar loss."
When they refunded me it turned out even worse. My total purchase for the tires including shipping and taxes was $415.40. They refunded me $222.95. Said they would not refund my shipping. So I lost pretty much $200 to them and have not one thing to show for it except a blowout tire. I would NEVER recommend anyone to purchase anything from Tire Rack. The most horrible company I have ever dealt with.

Sent 4 Goodyear Assurance tires back after I measured them with a tread gauge (Not just a penny trick) and they were all around 2/32nds. Sent them back and some how 3 of them gained tread during the trip back. They said one tire was 2/32nds and the other three were up to 7/32nds. How does one tire wear out that much when they were all installed at the same time and the alignment was checked to be fine when they were removed? But they said they'd try to get the one covered. I will never deal with this company again. My mistake was not getting the Tire shop to write down the tread depths before sending them back.

I have been a customer for over 15 years but that does NOT mean a thing to Tire Rack if there is a problem. I recently had a tire suffer a not repairable puncture. I contacted the third party insurer and got a claim established. I followed ALL their instructions in proceeding to get the repair made or certification that repair was not viable. When it was discovered repair was not possible, the insurer was contacted to get authorization for a replacement tire. Because there was a discrepancy on Tire Rack's end regarding the DOT number for the tire, they refused to honor the claim. I called Tire Rack Customer Service and tried to reason with them but they insisted that I had previously replaced the tire and did not purchase it from Tire Rack. The representative was polite but insisted there was nothing to be done. Although she was polite, she essentially called me a liar and refused to acknowledge the mistake made by Tire Rack.

I bought some wheels based on their curated positive reviews. I should have known that it was artificially inflated to make the product look good. Literally, every good trait that the reviewers stated was negated when I used the wheel. From durability to strength against deformations from road imperfections... the Raijin Enkei wheels failed horribly. They did NOT post my negative honest review about their wheel. So I go to delete my account. What do you know... there is no way to delete an account at tirerack.com - no clear button, no link, NOTHING. So they let you sign up, but you can never leave. I wish I had read the ConsumerAffairs.com reviews before I did business with Tire Rack. Those reviews are absolutely the most horrendous collection of poor customer reviews ever assembled in one specific company’s review! How does Tire Rack stay in business? And one more critical question: How is it that such a highly esteemed company such as Michelin would associate themselves -- and risk their reputation -- by teaming up with Tire Rack?
I bought Michelin Defender Tires for my Subaru from Tire Rack. They had a warranty for 90,000 miles and 6 years. These tires were performing like great tires UNTIL we returned from a 7,500 mile trip across the US and I discovered that one of the tires had worn through several layers of the steel belt! We had only 56,000 miles on the tires. This never should have happened since we followed the stringent Subaru rotation and balancing requirements every 7,500 miles. The owner of our local tire shop said that it was clear that the tire was DEFECTIVE because it separated – which is why it failed prematurely. BTW -- You can imagine my wife going bananas when she saw the STEEL BELTS! Two days prior, we were driving thru Texas at the posted 80 MPH speed limit – literally ALL DAY! A blow-out could have been fatal.
When I called Tire Rack about the defective tire’s failure and my warranty, they said to send the tires back and they would determine the tire wear which would decide the amount of refund. After their examination, Tire Rack decided that they would give me a 19 % refund! I was shocked! So, I called Michelin’s Warranty Dept and asked them to determine my Warranty compensation – which they did. They reviewed the pictures and my explanation and then they offered a 41% refund!! More than DOUBLE Tire Rack’s refund!
Because Michelin’s compensation was so much better than Tire Rack had offered, I asked Tire Rack to re-consider their Warranty compensation. Well, I guess they didn’t expect me to go to Michelin -- and because I did -- they were stuck between a rock and a hard place. Although they resented it, they agreed to 41% BUT only if I was going to buy new Michelin tires from Tire Rack. That will never happen – especially when they tried to cheat me out of an honest warranty compensation! Nope -– I’m gone! Tire Rack will NEVER EVER see my money again!

A lady from customer service at Tire Rack happened to call me immediately after I talked to my credit card company and told me my credit card charge was denied. This occurred on Wednesday morning. I just received my shocks the next day, Thursday in the morning. In August of 2015, my husband and I purchased 4 Sumitomo tires from Tire Rack. In September of 2016, not even 13 months later and not even 15,000 miles, all four tires were completely bald and one was showing thread. We contacted customer service, provided the information they asked for (number of tire rotations and alignments within that year's time) and as many pictures/angles as possible. Based on their "experts" opinion from looking at some images, our tires were deemed not warranty-able and that our alignment caused the issue. When I immediately provided proof of the alignment specifications that occurred in April of 2016 with before and after alignment specifications, they refused to respond.
My husband called them and I emailed them in December to ask if they were even going to respond to my email with proof of proper alignment specifications. As of January 29, 2017, we have yet to hear from them. Bought a set of tires through Tire Rack specifically because the delivery was promised by a certain date. What a joke! No movement or update on the packages. In Nov. of 2016 I bought 4 Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires for my Mazda MX-5. After installation at my tire store, I noticed the ride was bumpy. Two tires were out of round. I got Tire Rack to send replacement, and it was no better. Anyone could see the tread surface rise and fall with each revolution on the tire machine. In all, three tires were sent but only one did not wobble. Now only one tire was needed, but TR Customer Service was getting impatient over the phone as soon as I gave them my invoice number and saw our growing record of failed attempts at coming to a solution.
Some reps were nicer than others. Two gave me their extension #'s but dialing them didn't work. I left one a message to call back, but she did not. Two reps said they had to get approval to send another tire. I heard from one, with a negative answer. Finally at rep. #5 seemed most helpful, instructing me to another tire store, which had the equipment needed, a road-force balance machine. If she knew from their system which one of their affiliated stores had what machines, why didn't the first four reps? An incredible waste of time for me, the customer.
Tire Rack has one way to measure out-of-round tires. The road-force rating has to be no more than 25 pounds for them to consider the tire bad. Two tires that they said they road-forced looked and felt wobbly. I took the latest bad tire to the new tire store and they did a great job at an impossible task. They tested all four of my wheels and all the tires. Wheels were round. One tire was without wobble. The three marginal tires measured 25, 26, 27 pounds. I would be OK with the 25, but two were bad by TR's own standard. The shop's tech said the compound on the tires was exceedingly stiff. By this time I was in email communication with someone who I think may be a supervisor. I sent her the good tire store's invoice with the results of their test. Her second email stated that I may be entitled to a different set of tires. After a week of silence, I emailed back for some status on my case. So far, I got none.
It's now Jan. 17. If they were working on a solution, they should be letting me know. It seems like they want me to go away. My newly balanced bad tires feel better, but like the store said, they couldn't get all the wobbles out. The head employee said I should go for the replacement set. I headed for the interstate for a test. Most highway miles I get a constant, mild thump, and about 40% of lesser roads I can feel the wobble. Sometimes it's worse, probably when the tires are turned so that the lumps happen together.
I have bought at least two sets of tires from TR in the past without problem - no need for returns. Discounted tires, fresh manufacture dates, yes, these are great advantages, as long as the tires are true. The problem with their business model is they are remote from experiencing the product as the customer sees and feels it. This is where customer service should make up the difference. They don't.
Tire Rack uses "feel" descriptions in their ads and online product listings. Talking about smooth ride and handling is how you sell tires. But in my case, after the sale, they completely ignore my complaint about the lumpy ride. They didn't think "feel" mattered any more if it cost them more replacements. All they could cite was their internal testing number of 25 pounds of road force they said the tires were clearing. Their description of my Super Sports claimed "unsurpassed handling". That's false advertising, because two of the tires ARE surpassed by the round ones they did send me.
I was polite but persistent over the phone with TR. I wonder if they thought I had nothing better to do than to cause them trouble or get constant new tires one by one! Unless I get satisfaction soon, I will consider this experience a rip-off and will spend the rest of my days testifying to everyone who may buy tires to stay away from Tire Rack.com. In my case, sending a photo would not help. All I have is a video of a tire wobbling on a balancer.

I made a November 8th order using the TIRE RACK website. The reason I ordered tires was my son along with my mechanic have ordered tires for two of my son's vehicles from the company. Ordered tires while out of town without vehicle. Used the TIRE RACK website to look up tires for my vehicle. They shipped tires charging me for the UPS charges, took to my small town mechanic who told me they were the wrong size. He showed me three different manuals with the correct factory original listing for my vehicle, which means TIRE RACK website lists the incorrect size.
So I tried the web chat service, which was useless. I then called and spoke with an actual human, told her the error. She informed me that as a ''courtesy'' TIRE RACK would pay for the return shipping but I would still be charged for the original UPS freight charge. Again, I reminded TIRE RACK the website was in error. I also emailed TIRE RACK and received this email:
"Good afternoon, Thank you for your email. I see that you have already spoken to a member of our customer service team. If you need further assistance or have any other questions, please contact our Customer Service Department and we'll be happy to assist you. We are available at 1-888 981-3953, extension **.Thank you."
So, they issued return shipping and UPS picked them up. Was told they would credit my account within 24 hours of receipt of wrong tires. Called them again today, Monday, spoke with **. Was told they received the return on Thursday and I would get a credit today. Asked, again, why I am paying for shipping on an error on TIRE RACK's end. No response. In fact, during this entire fiasco, no one at TIRE RACK has acknowledged the error or made any attempt at making an apology or telling me anything about my order for the incorrect tires. TIRE RACK and customer service? NONE! So as a ''courtesy'' to my fellow consumers, look for another place to purchase tires!

I have bought several tires from Tire Rack while living in Canada and have not had any warranty problems with premature wear. BUT I just did and only got 20,000 miles of tread wear out of a set of Bridgestone/Firestone Destination LE tires that had a tread life warranty of 60,000 miles. DO NOT BUY TIRES FROM TIRE RACK IN CANADA IF YOU EXPECT TO NEED A WARRANTY. I had the tires installed at a Tire Rack recommended installer in Calgary and had a full 4 wheel alignment. After only 20,000 miles I had hit a tread wear of 3 on one tire and all the other tires had severe wear. I went back to the installer and they said they do not handle warranties. I then called Tire Rack and they said to go through a Firestone/Bridgestone dealer in Calgary. The retail dealers said they cannot warranty tires not purchased in Alberta and since my tires were shipped from the USA they are technically USA tires.
Called Tire Rack again and they said to work through the Alberta Bridgestone/Firestone head office. They also said the same thing. "If you don't buy the tires here we will not warranty them." Went back to Tire Rack and they had me bring the car in 3 times to a tire specialist that confirmed premature even wear on the tires, that my car was fully aligned and to also complete a detailed tread report measuring several parts of the tire. All of this was sent to Tire Rack and all the data pointed to bad tires. Tire Rack dragged me along for 4 months doing nothing and saying they are still reviewing the reports. I gave up and bought new tires. For what you save it is not worth giving up the tire warranty. I paid $1120.00 to Tire Rack for tires that only lasted 20,000 miles and they did nothing to help compensate me. Stay away from Tire Rack if you are a Canadian.

I bought four Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires last December and they've been very good. However, on a recent trip to visit friends in Toronto, I noticed a bubble on the side wall of the passenger side front. This was after we had arrived in Canada. I was frantic since it was a holiday weekend and we needed to return home on Monday, July 4th, and I didn't have a spare (my car came with run-flats that were horrible so I replaced them with these tires). We called several places but only Canadian Tire had a replacement and could install it Monday morning. However, I paid $281.95 Canadian for it, which is pretty outrageous, but what was I to do at that point? That price included $17 labor and $32.44 in taxes.
I contacted the warranty administrator for Tire Rack and was told they wouldn't cover it since it happened out of the USA. I told the rep that there was no way she could know that because I drove nearly 400 miles in the US and only 100 or so to get to Toronto, so it could easily have happened in the USA. She told me to contact Tire Rack and discuss it. I contacted Tire Rack and explained the situation and was asked if I kept the tire. I did not (why the hell should I?) but that I'd taken a photo of the bubble with my cell phone. She said she would speak to Michelin and ask if they would do anything and call me back later that day. She never called back so I called Tire Rack again today. The woman I spoke to said I had spoken to a supervisor and 'sorry she didn't call you back, but Michelin won't do anything unless they get the bad tire back'.
So a supervisor in the customer service department fails to call after getting this bad news and a multi-billion dollar corporation refuses to reimburse even a small part of this new tire cost? Yes, I had debated about bringing the tire back, but I couldn't call Tire Rack to ask because it was a holiday in the US. Yeah, I'm probably done with both and I've bought more than a few sets of tires from Tire Rack. Let's just say I'm very disappointed.

I've used Tire Rack numerous times for tires and never had any problems. Recently however weeks ago, I got new rims - purchased through my local tire garage (who I trust well). The rims I ordered through the local tire garage that came from Tire Rack were faulty. They were visible being bent. At first, I didn't know what was wrong; I just knew there was a shimmy/shake and my brakes were making noises and also pulsating. I drove in a parking lot very slow and the bend in the rim was very visible and it was clearly the rim. I should mention the tires were on other rims and were completely fine and not much mileage on them. I put my other rims back on and all problems, noises and brake malfunctions were completely gone.
So, this is where things went south - real quick. The rims were ordered and I got them weeks ago and this problem is NOT solved. Tire Rack has been making the tire garage do a ton of diagnostics - at the tire garage's expense! Tire Rack has been making them jump through hoops and Tire Rack is taking NO responsibility for this issue, whatsoever. Finally, the rims are going to be sent to Tire Rack "for inspection." It SHOULDN'T have taking this long but - even still - I'm still not satisfied because they're only being sent to Tire Rack for inspection. So, I'm out hundreds of dollars and still have NO RIMS.
I most certainly will be reporting this to BBB absolutely. The reason I am writing this and also reporting to BBB is because Tire Rack is obviously keeping my hundreds of dollars and not dealing with the faulty rims. The bottom line of the rims is that they make my car shake, and can't be balanced (having tried twice) and they make my brakes malfunction and so, these rims do NOT work on my car - no matter what the "inspection" renders. Bottom line: Tire Rack said these rims would work on my car/make/model and they do not but Tire Rack REFUSES TO TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS. I'm NEVER using Tire Rack again and I would NEVER EVER recommend Tire Rack to ANYONE. It should be noted that the tire garage involved have done a really great job doing everything that Tire Rack has been demanding and are not faulted for this in any way.

Tires purchased March of 2014. Lasted 10,694 miles. They were 80,000 mile Kumho tires. Tire went down to steel cords showing on one of the tires. Manufacturer date stamp on tires of 2007. From the time I got them they seemed bouncy. After a while they got bad. I did a tire rotation and checked the balance and they were fine, dead on balance. Drove again for a while and bounce got worse. I rotated them again before making a trip to Colorado and took readings of treadwear. Got to Colorado and noticed back tires were really bad. Crossed fingers to make it home. Tire on left rear was so bad I thought I had a bearing going. When I got back I noticed steel cords showing on the left rear. I contacted Tire Rack and explained the problem and they told me to return the tires. Returned to Tire Rack for what I thought would be replacement of defective tires minus the 10,000 miles used to be prorated on the replacements.
After 10 days of not hearing from them I called them. Was told by customer service they were uneven wear and would not replace. All 4 tires were uneven in different ways, they will be if defective. I also run my tire pressures at 45psi and the centers have always worn in the past first. Not these tires. Told me they sent email, but never got. Told them to resend and after 2 days I still have not got an email. I made a trip on the tires and before I left I took readings because they seemed to be wearing. Here is the facts on them: Measurement in thousands, readings taken with vernier calipers. Tires before North Carolina to Colorado: LF RF LR RR, In Out In Out In Out In Out, .135 .130 .130 .120 .103 .75 .65 .66. Tires after Colorado to North Carolina 3,546 Miles: LF RF LR RR, In Out In Out In Out In Out, .106 .99 .102 .93 . 0 .0 .0 .0.
As you can see they wore out really fast for highway only. Also, if you look at each individual tire as far as uneven wear, I do not see it drastically at all to justify being uneven and not replacing them. So now I am stuck with a van with no tires and was not in my budget for another 3 or 4 years. Customer service did not offer any restitution to the problem and actually just finished the phone call to the terms of the person on the phone and hung up on me. I finally convinced my husband to let me use Tire Rack to send a Continental Tire I really wanted on my minivan to Merchant's to be installed. He didn't trust it but we agreed to try. Boy am I eating my words now. I went through their online ordering system by entering my make, model, and year - boom the tire I want pops up and I buy four. All seemed perfect. Until the Merchant's guy calls saying they are the wrong size - that I need 16" instead of 17" - I didn't know there was an option! I called Customer Service who said while the wrong size is the one that was listed first I should have checked that it was indeed the right size (I didn't even know what all those numbers mean. I just relied on their tire selection guide).
I was offered not to have to pay return shipping only if I paid a $14 UPS charge and placed a new order paying shipment. I told them I had to talk to my husband as he was at Merchant's and pretty angry. She warned me if I didn't place a new order I had to pay full return shipping as well as the $14 even though I had placed my order in good faith using their system which led to a tire being recommended that was the wrong size (because as she said I should've checked). Already realizing what a crappy deal this was turning I realized at this point I would lose well over a $120 and have no tires at all if I did not reorder through them. I felt hijacked and stupid. She suggested I order with one of their tire specialists over the phone to avoid any problems. I did.
I quickly sent the confirmation over to my husband to check over while still at Merchant's and guess what - wrong size again! This time it was too narrow. After a few phone calls and several email messages, the customer service department at Tire Rack offered to discount the wheels that were not what I thought that I had ordered. In other words, I thought that the wheels only had one bolt-hole pattern and that they were hub-centric, upon arrival I discovered that the wheels have two bolt hole patterns and that the fit is lug-centric. (Hub is too large for the axle)
Bottom line - I am somewhat satisfied with their offer; however I would have preferred to buy a set of wheels with one bolt pattern and then have had the center hub be the correct diameter, but I scratch the inside of one wheel while attempting a fit check to verify that one of the bolt holes patterns were correct.
For future orders, I will always call and talk with a sales person and ask very detailed questions and the request an email so that I can carefully review the specifications about the wheels before placing an order. It should be noted that shipping, mounting, and service overall is very good - my only issue is the lack of details on their website.
Original Review: Oct. 3, 2015
I asked several questions before placing my order for winter snow tire and wheels at Tire Rack and attempted to research the wheels very carefully before placing my order. Unfortunately, I was very unhappy when I removed the cardboard cover to discover that the Granite Alloy GA640 wheels that I had ordered had two bolt patterns and the wheel hub is not the same diameter as the axle on my vehicle.
I then contacted the Customer Service Department at Tire Rack and I told them that I was very unhappy with my purchase. They eventually told me that I could return the tires and wheels and I would be out a $28.00 freight pick-up fee and I would also lose my original shipping fee. They did finally however agree to waive the return shipping fee and the $60.00 dismount fee; or, at least that is what they told me, who knows what they will really do they seem to lie about everything else. Thus, I am very disgusted given that the Customer Service person that I spoke with told me that Tire Rack knows that the wheel hub diameter is different than the axle hub diameter on the vehicle; and they also knew that the wheels that I purchased had two bolt patterns.
Prior to making the purchase I spoke with a sales person at Tire Rack and I asked a very specific question about the wheel center hub diameter to make sure that they were the same diameter as the axle and he assured me that they were. Given that he lied to me and given that they do not indicate on their website that the center hub does not match along with the fact the wheels have two bolt holes patterns is unacceptable; and consequently every should be aware that when making a purchase at Tire Rack they will conceal everything; and based upon what I have read today, it seems that their Road Hazzard Warranty is also a JOKE. Bottom Line Be aware of what you think you are ordering at Tire Rack You may be unpleasantly surprised when your order arrives! Also try mounting a heavy truck wheel and tire with two bolt patterns and let me know what you think.

After corresponding w/ Tire Rack claims rep besides the supervisor, Tire Rack took no responsibility thru my road hazard coverage and gave me NO proration reimbursement of any of my tires. Very Dissatisfied w/ Tire Rack and will never purchase tires w/ road hazard again. What is the purpose of buying road hazard warranty thru Tire Rack but yet they want to take no responsibility for the terrible tires I purchased?? #Not a Tire Rack customer ever again. #Poor customer service.

Bought KYB shocks/struts less than two years ago and had them installed. A shop found a leaking shock so I sent it back to TR at their expense. They did credit me ~$42 for the cost of the single shock. Problem is that I paid about $200 to have two new ones installed. I understand their policy, but I will never buy KYB again and will never buy from Tire Rack again. (I had been a customer for about 25 yrs). Lesson learned. The expensive way.

I've been using Tire Rack since 1990, when it was just an 800 number in the back of Car and Driver. Never had a prob till last year. No more for me. Bought four tires for my 200 Toyota Tacoma truck, drop shipped to a tire store, thinking to save money. Tire store couldn't get them to balance. I tried another tire store, same problem, even with the special adapter required for these Toyota wheels. Called Tire Rack about it, sure, return them for credit IF they find them to be at fault. But wait, I don't have the original tires anymore to put back on, what am I gonna do for tires? It didn't occur to me to KEEP my old tires; who does that? And what if they decide they aren't defective?
SO I bought one new tire from the local tire store to match my spare, put these two tires in front, put a pair of Tire Rack bad-balance tires in the rear. THEN LATER found out I didn't save ANY money. Tire store had them for about the same price. My theory is that Tire Rack is now in the business of selling factories seconds (third world countries will push most anything out of the back door to fill a container, my professional experience). After 25 yrs, goodbye Tire Rack. Now when I need tires, I go to a local reputable dealer, where if I have a problem, I can get it RESOLVED there and now.

I purchased a complete set of Pirelli tires for my SUV in September 2014. I had them mounted and balanced at an approved servicer. At scheduled alignments was told that the tire tread seemed to be wearing pretty quickly, based on mileage and length of time owned. I noticed this as well, but had never had it happen (less than 5k miles at this time) ever before with any other tires. I didn't think anything of it until I went to have another alignment. After pulling to the right, about 3k miles later AND white thread showing in the middle of one of the rear tires. Again, told this time that the tires need replacement entirely due to tread wear. Of the 10 months, there has been very little driving the last 3 months, due to maternity leave.
So, here I am, with a newborn in the vehicle, while the tech is telling me that the tire with the thread showing is extremely dangerous and the other 3 aren't far behind. I contact Tire Rack customer service, send them 2 pictures and without even asking about any other records/servicing history, they determined that, of course, my warranty is voided because I must have an alignment issue. Less than a year later and with only about 7 months of driving on my new tires, I am faced with having to buy a brand new set. I do NOT recommend purchasing from Tire Rack if you plan on utilizing the warranty that sounds good until they are forced to honor it.

I ordered a set of (4) Pirelli Tires for my 2015 GTI. When I had the tires mounted to VMR wheels I had decided there was too big of a wheel gap so I had them taken off immediately before even leaving the shop. The following day I contacted Tire Rack Customer Service and asked whether or not I could return the tires. I was told by the first representative that "as long as the tires have not been driven on you can return the tires". I hesitated and called back and asked a different representative, "If I have mounted my new tires to a set of wheels, without driving on them, can I still return the tires?", him replying with the same answer stated "As long as the tires have not been driven on they are returnable". The tires were shipped back to Tire Rack the following day.
I called one week later to check on the status of my credit at which time I was told that there was "damage" to ALL 4 tires and that I would not be able to get my money back. Enraged that I had not been notified about this "damage" I had explained what I was told on the phone and asked what my options were. She stated that pictures of the damage had been sent to me (which I hadn't received) and that not only would I not get my money back but that they were unable to send me the tires (that I paid $800 for) because they are damaged and unusable.
I then gave her my email address and asked that she resend the pictures. In 3 of the 5 photos they "marked" on the tire where there was "damage" which was not visible. One tire had a minimal "chip" out of the tire which could have been due to the shipping to or from. Along with the pictures in the email she stated that if I wanted the tires back I would need to pay another $60 for shipping (which did not make sense, considering she had told me 5 minutes prior that I could not have the tires back) so I responded through email telling her I would pay ANOTHER shipping fee to have my tires back. I will NEVER do business through Tire Rack and I do not recommended them to ANYONE.

Placed a $2300 order on 3-28-15. Was told it would be 10 days for the wheels and tires to get to me. I thought it was a bit long for a tire and wheel store to deliver but ok. I called on 4-7-15 for an update. I was told that it would be now until 4-19-15 when the wheels got to them and a couple more days until they shipped them out to me! When I asked why the delay, I was told it was because they had to now wait until the trailer was full from the factory so it could be sent out? Really? When I asked what they were willing to do for my inconvenience they offered a mere $75 credit and oh yes they said that now they could not guarantee it would be the 19th! To top things off, when I asked to cancel my order they didn't even flinch!? I will never recommend this company to anyone!

Caution! When making a claim on a tire for road hazard this is a big hassle! They tell you to send in the invoice. They don't respond to your email. I call them and now they need the actual receipt and never told me that. They only give you what you paid for the tire so you're out money on that deal. They already spoke with the shop where I bought the tire. How much more information will they need? I guess I'll find out when I call back again to see if they got my email once again as they don't respond to email. Poor customer service and follow up. Their prices may be better but not worth the hassle to make a claim. I will never buy again from Tire Rack and will spread the word. This is ridiculous! You can't leave a review about customer service on their site, only about the tires! What a joke.

I have been a repeat customer of "TireRack" for several years now. The most recent order was for a set of Michelin's for my wife's car. I was happy with the price, but even more so because of a $75 rebate being offered at the time. Long story short. I was unable to receive my rebate. The "hoops" a person has to jump through are unbelievable. This is actually the second time I've missed out.
I know TireRack is receiving the rebate through the company, but they make it nearly impossible to receive it. This is so they can keep that money offered by the company. You'll need to show pictures of your receipt even though you buy the tires from TireRack!! I've got those other order numbers too if you would like to see them as well. I actually don't buy tires because of the rebate... but please don't say you'll give me back $75 when you know damn good and well that this ain't gonna happen! HAHA.

I bought four 215/40ZR-17 BF-Goodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2 XL tires for my 03 mini cooper. I had used the tires before and they had issues with mounting but otherwise good tires. This was my third set in five years. I noticed they started getting cracking traces in the sidewalls at about 12000 miles. Then the right front had a blowout on the highway for no apparent reason. Fortunately no one was hurt. I had road hazard but still had to pay about $166 for a new tire. The other three were wearing extra fast. They started to get big bumps on the tread unevenly distributed around the tires.
I finally found out how to read the code on the tire showing the date the tires were made. It turned out Tire Rack sold me tires that had been in the warehouse for three years! That's why they were falling apart. Tires age even when not mounted and lose mass through basically evaporation of the materials used to make them that causes them to crack and get hard prematurely. Tire Rack would do nothing for me. A local Discount Tire dealer went to BF-Goodrich and they backed up the warranty. He gave me a great deal on some new tires. I put a poor but reasonable review on the tires and Tire Rack on their site and they deleted it.
I would not recommend using Tire Rack unless you just can't afford new tires from anyone else. If you use them, be sure to check the date the tires were manufactured before you mount them. BF-Goodrich came through for me on the warranty and the tires are good tires but they stopped making them. Tire Rack should have given me the blowout tire for free and compensated me for selling me tires that were represented as new but were degraded because of excessive time in the warehouse. For all I know that is how Tire Rack is able to offer such low prices. I was told the manufactures have to "dispose" of the tires after 24 months I think it was.

I have been purchasing tires from TireRack for many years with no issues. Recently however I learned a valuable lesson I would like to pass along about this type of online purchase. In my situation I ordered a set of tires and had them drop-shipped to a local authorized TireRack installer. Here is the caution: You are buying the tires from TireRack and you are paying an authorized installer to mount and balance the tires at their labor rate. If anything happens such as a defective tire, the installer damages your wheels or you elect to return the tires you will not be compensated for the charges you had to pay at the authorized installer.
If your wheels are damaged as mine were (clear coat stripped from the edge of the wheels during mounting) that will be an issue between you and the installer. Since they are only getting mounting and balancing compensation from you they will be very reluctant to do anything (as in my case) for the wheels. I have chalked this up as a hard lesson learned.
I had called TireRack to order the same Michelin tires that came as original equipment on my Acura MDX. This was the first set of tires needed since new. The Michelins on the vehicle were wearing evenly and the vehicle drove like new when i brought it to the authorized installer. The only issue was the tread depth was down to 4/32 and it was time to replace the tires. The salesman at TireRack recommended a different tire during our phone conversation so I went with his recommendation for Continental LX20's which were significantly cheaper than the Michelins. Plus on their website the Continentals were rated higher. What could go wrong? The answer, everything. I ended up spending well over $400 at the installer to finally have 4 tires on my Acura that were satisfactory. It wasn't the Continental LX20's.
After the Continental tires arrived at the installer I made an appointment and had the tires mounted and balanced. I was charged $176 for this service. I thought a little steep but I didn't say anything. When the vehicle was ready I drove away from the shop and shortly after I noticed a pulling to the left which I thought may be just the road I was driving on. After a few more miles it was apparent the vehicle was always pulling left and I couldn't take my hands off the wheel. I called the installer and asked to return to the shop.
They said they were busy and I would have to come back another day. I came back 2 days later and they moved the front left tire to the front right side and the vehicle now pulled right so for my safety they moved the pulling tire to the right rear. With one of the rear tires now up front the vehicle drove straight but I still had a tire that needed replacing so TireRack agreed to drop-ship another to the installer. About a week later i was back at the installer for visit number 3 to replace the pulling tire. They put the replacement tire up front and the vehicle started pulling again. I also will mention I had another tire that required 3.5 ounces of weight to balance it and at .5 oz per weight that is a long stick of unsightly weights on my nice alloy wheel.
That tire also started to bounce at speeds above 70 mph. So I call TireRack customer service from the waiting room of the installer to tell them the vehicle is pulling with the replacement tire and I have a tire that is requiring an excessive amount of weight to balance. Cynthia at the TireRack agrees to send 2 more tires to the installer. I hang up and am talking to the owner of the installer and he and I discuss my dilemma. I am starting to have serious doubts about the quality control of these tires. I'm wondering if they are seconds. The owner is also having doubts and we both agree I could have further issues later and it would be more difficult to get a warranty settlement if I had say 10,000 miles on the tires and had issues at a scheduled rotation.
I elect to call the TireRack back and request to cancel the 2 additional tires that are being sent and instead order a set of the Michelins that I intended to purchase in the first place. Cynthia at TireRack agrees and also says they will pay the charges I had to pay for the troubleshooting and moving of the Continentals and also the installation of the Michelins. It sounded OK to me. A lot of visits to the installer but at least it was going to get done and some of my money spent troubleshooting and replacing defective tires would be refunded.
The Michelins arrived at the installer and I had them mounted and balanced. The Michelins hardly took any weight to balance. I think the worst one had 2 weights for a total of 0.5 oz. A huge difference compared to the Continentals. As soon as I drove away I could feel I had my Acura back. I could let go of the wheel and the vehicle drove straight as an arrow. The handling was back and there was no bounce above 70 mph.
When the Continentals arrived back at TireRack I waited to hear about my refunds for the tires and all additional labor I had to pay the installer for the Continentals. Finally an email arrived and they were only refunding the cost of the tires and nothing else! I called and spoke with Katrina at customer service and she looked up my file and said there were no notes in there about compensating me for the additional labor. She said they would test the tires and get back to me.
Well of course the next email said the tires were checked and were within specs and I must have a vehicle problem. That could not be further from the truth. My Acura has been maintained meticulously by myself and my dealer. As I stated before it drove like new before I had the Continentals installed and it now drives like new with the Michelins on it. There is absolutely nothing wrong with my Acura with 44,000 miles on it. It is in perfect alignment with no worn components.
I want everyone to be aware of what can happen. During all of the mounting and unmounting of the tires my wheels were put through a lot of wear and tear on the tire changing machine. The factory alloy wheels didn't have a single scratch in them. Now there are several areas of missing clear coat and scratches from the installer. I was absolutely sick about it. I live in the Midwest and I can already see the salt eating at the newly exposed aluminum. How do you add up all of the costs? My time (4 visits) to the installer with a minimum time of 2 hours per visit on 4 separate days. The damage to my alloy wheels. The $453 I spent on installation and troubleshooting of the tires.
I should have went to my Acura dealer and had them install new tires. If anything would have went wrong they would have fixed for no additional charge. Using the TireRack and then an 3rd party installer puts you in the middle with little to no relief if anything happens. A difficult lesson learned.

TireRack.com: I have seen great reviews and I have seen terrible reviews. The great reviews that I have found outweigh the bad reviews by a ratio of 28:1. The great reviews that I have read are great: People satisfied with getting what they paid for. The terrible reviews are...well, questionable. I know cars and I know tires; and, I see a pattern of non-car people making poor or un-researched tire decisions for their crappy running and poorly maintained cars, and then blaming TireRack.com for their mechanical failures that had nothing to do with TireRack.com, or the tires they bought, but rather their own lack of knowledge and/or research.
I just tried out TireRack.com for the first time Sunday night. I knew exactly what brand, model and size tire that I wanted for my 1992 Ford Bronco: BF Goodrich All Terrain TA 32x11.5 R15LT, the same tire and size that I have been running on my Broncos for more than 25 years. So, ordering for me was simple. This size tire is an over-size tire and not my OEM tire size. I ordered four wheels as well, specific to my Bronco; so, TireRack.coms ordering system recognized this and brought this size-mismatch to my attention. Good on them for catching this; however, being that I wanted this off size tire, I clicked Continue with this size anyway to finish my order.
The next day (Monday) I got an Email from TireRack.com to confirm that I did, in fact, understand that I was ordering Off the Menu so to speak. I informed them that I was aware of the size issue and let them know that I always run this over-sized tire for my off-road Broncos. Enough said. The order was put through. The next day (Tuesday) my tires were delivered, before noon, all mounted and balanced on my new aluminum wheels that I also ordered from TireRack.com. The delivery was three days earlier than they had promised; and, after shipping fees, my tires and wheels were still $100 cheaper than my local tire stores prices which by the way couldn't get my tire size in for another week. I swapped out my tires last night. No waiting around for hours at the local tire shop granted I do have all the tools, jacks, and the know-how. The bottom line is I am very, very happy with TireRack.com and will definitely buy from them again.

I was told that I would have to send the tires back at my own expense and they will refund me the difference. Therefore, I will lose the money I paid to installed, balance, and aligned the tires plus the shipping cost. Purchased a tire package from Tire Rack that was recommended based on the model of the car I own. You enter the make, model and year of the vehicle and website gives you tire and wheel options appropriate for the vehicle.
There is freeway construction going on locally, and when the car hits the bumps, the tires are hitting the car fender and taking pieces out of the tire. I spoke with a service representative at Tire Rack and their response was that even original equipment may hit the fender under extreme tire travel conditions. If Chevy put tires and wheels on their cars that hit the fenders when you hit a pot hole, imagine the amount of rubber that would be all over Detroit in the spring! I had the car at an authorized Tire Rack installer yesterday, their recommendation, the tires don't fit the car, call Tire Rack.
