What is SolarTech?

SolarTech is a solar panel installation and services provider based in California and operating in Arizona, California, Colorado and Nevada. The company was founded in 2001 and claims to have had over 13,000 successful installations.

SolarTech provides a range of residential solar services, including solar panel installation, energy storage, solar pool heating, cleaning and maintenance services and even roofing services. The company also offers commercial solar installations and services.

SolarTech solar panels and equipment

SolarTech creates custom solar panel systems to maximize effectiveness. Panels are available from a variety of manufacturers. The company recommends choosing one based on a combination of cost, warranty and the stability of the company (you need to be able to trust they’ll still be around to honor the warranty).

SolarTech also offers several solar batteries and energy storage solutions, including Tesla Powerwall. The company will work with you to find the right panels and storage for your home and goals, whether it’s affordability, performance or a happy medium.

SolarTech installation

SolarTech doesn’t provide much detail on its installation process other than that it uses certified installers. The company will inspect and test the system after installation to ensure it’s working properly. SolarTech also handles all permits and approvals, which helps keep things simple for the customer — this is often the most complex part of solar panel installation.

SolarTech services

SolarTech offers several services in addition to solar panel and storage installation:

  • Cleaning and protection: SolarTech will wash and dry your solar panels, visually inspect the system to ensure it’s set up correctly, check for signs of damage and provide a report. Keeping solar panels clean helps ensure they function at maximum efficiency.
  • Maintenance and service plans : SolarTech offers maintenance and service plans for solar panels — even for ones the company didn’t install. Two packages are available, offering cleaning, nonwarranty service calls, system checkups and more.
  • Solar pool heating: SolarTech offers custom-designed pool heating systems to help keep your swimming pool at a constant temperature.
  • Roofing: SolarTech also offers roofing services. The company can install new roofs, handle roof repairs and maintenance, inspect roofs for potential issues before installing solar panels and more. This could be convenient if you need to repair or replace your roof and want to add solar panels — a single company could handle both installations and likely get everything done faster.

SolarTech costs

SolarTech doesn’t publish prices online. Since each installation is custom and there is a range of panels and storage systems available, it would be hard to nail down estimated costs without knowing home details.

That said, we can provide average costs for solar panel systems in the U.S. A 10-kilowatt (kW) system (the amount needed by a typical American household) costs roughly $28,000 in 2025, before incentives. The full federal tax credit brings this down to just under $20,000.

Financing

SolarTech offers several payment options, including standard loans, leasing and power purchase agreements (PPAs). The lease option is notable — there’s no upfront cost, and you pay a fixed monthly payment to use the system. SolarTech takes care of maintenance and monitoring.

PPAs are arrangements where SolarTech installs the solar panel system on your property, and you then purchase electricity from them at a predetermined rate. Typically, this is cheaper than standard utility rates for electricity.

SolarTech warranty

SolarTech doesn’t advertise warranty information. However, the company does sell several maintenance and service plans that cover cleaning, maintenance, panel warranty visits, system checkups and more.

Generally, warranties will be handled by the solar panel manufacturer. Most solar panels come with warranties from the manufacturer, often including 25-year performance guarantees.

    Reviewed Dec. 31, 2025

When we purchased our solar, we were assured that it would generate nearly 20kWh with the number of panels installed. We were also told the system would be monitored, & if any issues arose, the company would notify us & resolve them promptly. The installation was completed after Christmas 2024, & began producing energy for our home & sending excess power back to APS. Soon after being told the system was up & running, we received an email from the solar company stating they needed to return & install additional MCIs because our solar panels were producing more power than the system could handle. After this first repair, we were contacted again & informed that more MCIs would need to be added, as our system still was not performing as expected. Despite these interventions, we received a notification from Tesla that our PV string was out, indicating a significant issue with our solar production.

We attempted to contact SolarTech multiple times to address this problem. On one occasion, a technician was sent out, but we discovered he did not have the proper certification to work on our system. Subsequently, workers returned to add MCIs once more. During this visit, we captured video evidence of the contracting manager instructing the crew to lie to us about a problem affecting six of our solar panels, telling them to claim the issue was fixed without disclosing the truth.

Following this incident, we spoke with the service manager, scheduling manager, & contracting manager. They scheduled service appointments on six separate occasions, but each time, the crew failed to show up & did not call to notify us. After each missed appointment, we were never proactively contacted by the company; it has been up to us to call repeatedly & leave voicemails until someone finally responded. When we did reach someone, we were given excuses for the missed appointments & told we would simply have to wait until they could address our issue. Throughout this entire period, we have been receiving APS bills because our solar system has not been generating the energy we were promised & paid for. Despite informing the company of these ongoing financial impacts, we have not received the level of support or urgency that was promised at the time of purchase.

Exceptional service! From consultation to system activation, we had a phenomenal experience. No sales pressure during consultation, we compared with Baker Home Solar and Semper Solar and SolarTech came through with much better pricing and better quality equipment.
