Bought one coin from them for under $5. Received the coin. Then, to my surprise started to receive bills for $80, just like all other reviews here. Didn't order anything else, didn't receive anything else, just bills for $80 and harassing emails. I just ignore it - luckily the envelopes are clearly marked. But why is this so called company is allowed to continue. Surely what they doing is illegal.

I ordered a coins from you in May and included a check for $4.95 for it. You tried to screw me. Ordered one coin, paid for it, got letter saying I owe 79.95. Did not receive any merchandise. Not even one I paid for. Talk to rep... I didn't receive any info about the purchase. I disputed the $79.95 charge and they sent the $4.95 receipt as proof. Walmart Mastercard accepted that and denied my dispute. So I canceled the card. Next I got another invoice for $86.90 for another coin they supposed sent me. I called them and went through my issues. (they finally answered the phone which they had not done before.) They could not provide a picture of any of the coins they had sent me and told me I needed to go to their website where they have 291 coins. None of which I recognized. Can't trust American Mint. Please no more flyers from this company.

Don't ever order anything from this place because if you do, they automatically start sending you coins each month and want you to pay for all of it. I'm writing the attorney general about them and I'm going to do my best to have them shut down. This company is a total scam trying to take your money. Don't do business with them and they will dry up and go away.

Back on June 17, 2018, I sent a check to American Mint in the amount of $14.90 for a Buffalo Bill Bowie Knife. A short time later I received a package containing the knife (sic) I ordered. By the way which was not a "Bowie" knife but a cheap hunting knife imitation. Also in the box was a "Doc Holiday" Bowie knife which I did not order and also was not a "Bowie" knife. There was also an invoice for $89.90 for the unwanted second knife. On July 7, 2018, I sent an email to American Mint explaining I did not order this second knife and requested a return prepaid postage sticker so I could return the unwanted knife. I also stated I would not be paying for this unwanted item period. American Mint was totally unresponsive to my email correspondence.
Today I received another invoice for the knife I never ordered. I sent back their invoice and referred them to my original email which I again attached along with a cover letter stating I wanted the return postage sticker. Now let's see where this goes! I refuse to pay postage for an item I didn't order. These people are crooks trying to take advantage of a senior citizen! Also, in Delaware the law states you are not obligated to pay for anything you did not order. So, unless I get the prepaid return postage sticker, I'll just consider the second knife a "GIFT"!

Talk to rep. They said I have to return a form they sent. I didn't receive any info about the purchase. Sent form back. Still nothing. I have proof on my bank account. Never ordered this item and made contact with American Mint to have it returned. While on the telephone with one of their staff they asked me to open the delivery box and check the contents, this I did and informed them of the contents. The person I was speaking with asked if the coins were in the box. I noticed that there were no coin items in the box and with a friend being witness to my actions I asked them what to do with the wooden box included with the items of paperwork.
They questioned me about the coins not being in the box and informed me it was almost impossible for them to not place the coins in the delivery container. Requested that they send me some document to return the items I had and to report that no other items were in the delivery box (coins). I was informed that the return documents would be sent and a lost item document. Today, 8/4/2018 I received another request to make a payment of $140.40 for the coins that I had not ordered and this was after a prior conversation in May, 2018 for the first attempt by American Mint to collect for items that I had never ordered nor received. (No coins.) $138.90 was on the first billing and now there is a late fee. Will be in contact with American Mint on Monday, 8/6/2108 to work on clearing this attempt to steal my money.
Updated on 08/08/2018: Adding information on follow-up for the 8/5/2018 posting on our American Mint difficulty. Made telephone contact with American Mint on Tuesday, 8/7/2018 - call was made at 12:07 P. M. Pacific Time. Spoke to #** about the past request to remove us from any future billings on the statement received 8/5/2018 in the amount of $140.40, this included a late fee or $3.50. Once again it was explained that NO coins were in the shipping container and that I had a witness when the wooden box was opened it had no coins. Informed #** on our first call and talking to #** I was asked that the box be opened to check the contents. Also, no coins in the delivery package as we had explain to the person we spoke to on our first call to American Mint.
After a short time - about 10 minutes, #** placed me on hold and returned with the following information, "You will receive a letter from American Mint in about 7-10 day showing the balance due on the billing in the amount of $140.40 would be removed and a balance of zero (0) dollars would be shown", after my acknowledgement that this would happen our call ended. Will update once the letter is received or if the letter is not received.

I was sold a Bill of Goods on false pretense (or advertising). If you scratch 3 items and match you can get a coin for sh $6.95. I fell for it. It ended up costing me my bank account $60 in NFS, $13.57 in return postage of coins (3) coins, and $4.50 for mailers for which I can substantiate. They took the scheme from Book of the Month Club. Fine print, false advertising, poor business practice and sock it to you. Stay the hell away from this SCAM.

They were offering a special of Kennedy half dollars issued during the 1960's, that are worth far more than the amount of the original coin. I received four coins every few months and paid the amount due. However, all of the coins I received were from the 1970's, and none of the more valued coins, when the offer suddenly stopped. This certainly appears to be an "old bait and switch," scam. And I also received a scratch off ticket telling me I won a gold eagle coin absolutely free, except for shipping and handling. I paid the shipping and handling and received two coins in return-and a bill of $89 for the second coin!

I believe I'm being scammed by this company. As far as I've been able to determine I have never ordered anything from this company. I am being billed by them for $ 89.95+ late fees for 2 coins. After the first billing, I searched my small collection twice and do not have these coins. I sent them a letter requesting a copy of the order I signed, and the receipt of the coins. I got no response to these requests. About 6 weeks later I received another bill, then another after 2 weeks. My response now is this review. I will write them another reiterating my initial response. I don't know what else to do.

I spent well over $600 for selected coins. Then I started receiving billings for coins that I had NOT received. I called them after receiving "late notices" to discover that "several" coins that I had returned was not credited back to my account. I, therefore, returned all but one coin because I was finished dealing with "false" invoices or at least with invoices that failed to match my records. I received all my return items back with a letter stating they were NOT returnable after having received them for 30 days.
I resent the coins 3 different times with letters that I was fully dissatisfied with the American Mint company and to apply the returned items against the "FAKE" balance. I told them to KEEP any "plus" balance and NOT to refund me. They, again, returned the coins with an enclosed letter stating that I was in possession of the returned items over 30 days. They failed to get the picture... I returned everything, unused, because I was making a statement that the American Mint team was NOT to be trusted and I was washing my hands with them by returning all but one item which would have cleared my balances of both the current billing plus a surplus of what I previously paid for. Just to get them out of my hair.

I ordered 2 Trump "Presidential Dollar Trials" coins and 2 "Speeches of Donald Trump coins". They look beautiful. But weighing them individually I found they were light. In total they're 16.86 grams light. The presidential dollar trial coins are said to have weighed 54 grams each. One coin weighed 51.59 grams, the other coin weighed 51.56 grams which totaled to being 4.85 grams short of their certificate of authenticity. The Speeches of Donald Trump coins claim they weigh 32 grams each on the certificates of authenticity.
One weighed 26.28 grams and the other weighed 25.71 grams totaling a 12.01 grams loss. I believe consumers should get what they paid for, and in this instance, I feel swindled out of 16.86 grams of gold or other material used in the production of these coins. Whose pocket did that material go in? Whether it's an employee of American Mint or the whole company is in on it and aware I'm not certain. I just know it isn't mine. I have emailed this company and await a reply. I will take legal action if I'm not compensated for the shortage.

I responded to an offer in the mail on 1/26/18 to get a 1933 Replica Double Eagle coin for the cost of shipping in the amount of $6.95 for which I sent my check #**. As of 2/10/18 I have not received it. Also, on the order I did not supply a credit card number and specifically noted that I did not want to review any other coins, or receive any other offers to review any other coins. After reading numerous reviews complaining about the unethical operations, and sending other coins not ordered by customers, and customer payments being received but not acknowledged, and continued billing for coins already paid for, it appears that American Mint is just another of the many scams being operated in the US. It concerns me that so many scams are being operated in this country with so little being done to stop them. I want the 1933 replica coin I paid the $6.95 shipping for, no other offers or reviews, and no other offers from American Mint.

The mistake on my return was not sending it back registered. The last letter from these crooks dated 1/04/2018 states this is their last and it now will be turned over to National Recovery Agency for collection. These people are CROOKS. There are others that got taken in by this outfit and are being harassed for a payment that they don't owe. This company should be sued and shut down for consumer fraud. They keep adding late fees to my claimed balance owed and none of this will be paid. These people that are the registered owners should be prosecuted.

My elderly mother took advantage of American Mint's offer to get one of their coins for a very low price --- shipping only. She loved the coin and got another one in the same manner. American Mint said they sent additional coins and that she needed to pay for them... But she did not receive them. She's called on a couple of occasions to try resolve this misunderstanding, but without successful resolution. They're now billing her every so often and threatening to send a collection agency, which scares her! This is such a racket, taking advantage of the elderly especially! They need to be shut down and prosecuted. No doubt they've received payments from unknowing customers who sent the money on good faith -- even though that was not part of their transaction. OK. So after the debacle with trying to pay for my Trump coin(s) (another rip off with their cryptic language), I receive a notice that I owed X dollars. So I pay the bill...or so I thought! 6-8 weeks later, I get another mail saying I owe the balance AND a past due amount! I negotiate the past due amount down to ZERO and pay the bill...or so I thought! 6-8 weeks later guess what. Another letter! Balance due again! I'm asking these people (sometimes very hard to understand their broken English) why they refuse to pay my bill! They tell me each time that they didn't run my CC and pay my bill. I ask them the obvious question like...WTF not? They don't know. "So please give it to us again and we'll pay it for sure."
Which brings me to today. I'm so upset that I actually created a user to get on this site and complain. I got ANOTHER letter today and they are referring me to their collection agency! I have great credit and it jacks up my credit score. So what do I do now? I'll call these knuckleheads again and let's see what happens...but I kinda know the outcome already. I'll never buy anything from this company again and I'm researching all of my legal options to get this straightened out.

I've made 3 attempts to resolve this and have been told (on 2 occasions) that the credit was issued, and perhaps my bank made an error. Not the case. Today I find that they now assert that it can take them 4 to 6 WEEKS to process a return. When I demanded to talk to a supervisor they tell me that even that courtesy can take 24 to 48 hours. Their error has cost me $60 in bank charges to date. Then (of all things) I see another charge for $59.99 against my account for merchandise that they "ship on approval"; which I haven't even received. I received a spam snail-mail packet from these people touting their "collector" coins. After review of their screed containing a "jackpot scratch-off" card that said if I uncovered three jackpots, I would "win" a "valuable" proof coin. I decided the whole thing was a "too-good-to-be-true" scam. I dumped the whole packet of their trash back into their Post Paid envelope and dropped it into the postal stream. Next month I received from them a "replica" stamping of a coin, a vial of "free gold flakes", and a fake "replica" of a double-eagle coin and a bill for $89.95 plus $6.95 shipping. Mind you, their come-on clearly states that no orders will be filled unless shipping is paid in advance. 1) I did not make an order for their junk. 2) I did NOT send them shipping fees. They assigned me an account number (**) and are trying to collect money from me.
Federal postal regulations state that Items not ordered need not be paid for - It's just the LAW! I contacted their billing dept. and told them that if they wanted their junk back, they should send me a paid shipping label. About a month later, a label arrived and I put their junk back in its package and sent it BACK to them. They bounced it back and sent another bill (separately) for the total of the previous bill plus a late fee. Yeesh! I packed up their stuff in another shipping package, insured it and with return receipt required. This month I got another bill but for just the $6.95, PLUS another late fee of $10.50 and a threat of collection action. My next stop will be my lawyer's office where I will request him to begin filing fraud proceedings against them with the state. This cannot go unanswered!! They are thieves and must be stopped!!

This company makes literal use of credit (don't mistake for credits given by other companies) to lure the recipient of the mail. They will send you an invoice for 4.99 with credit of 70.99 for a coin or something. The person will think that he is paying 4.99 for the stuff promised in the mail. But actually what is agreed upon is to pay back 70.99 after receiving the stuff. That means according to them you are given an option of paying the credit amount later. It is like giving a loan of 70.99 to be paid back. Very misleading.
Also they send you some other stuff with it so that you would open the package to receive what you ordered and hence are committed to the other stuff also. Best advice is do not open any mail from American Mint and even if you open do not send any amount like 4.95 or 9.70 thinking that you got a bargain. It is a bait to make you pay a lot of money for a stuff you do not need or want. It could be worthless also for you. Don't play in their game. They have a complicated and confusing business process that you can never get out of, so I would avoid them altogether. After numerous and repeated contacts with no response via telephone, email and snail mail, they eventually responded to serious communication when their BBB rating was threatened. I ordered a coin that was minimal cost. I believe it was just shipping and handling. When it arrived there was a second coin along with a bill for it. I immediately, the next day, mailed the coin back to them and asked them to credit my account. Sometime later I got a second bill from them and called in. They claimed the envelope was empty. I definitely mailed it back to them. They said they would send me a form to sign and it would be handled. Today I received another bill from them. I just called in and the man who answered claimed they had not received the coin and that I had signed in the form they sent me that I would return the coin. Being a doofus I did not read the letter closely but just signed it and returned it. My opinion these people are not ethical or honest.

I received my coins this past week and was impress with the quality of the work, with the exception of a little note (Cu layered in 24k gold Quality proof). It troubled me because I know my nuclide chart for the elements and the Cu kept coming back to haunt me. Ah ha! Cu is copper. I would have been more than satisfied if the coins were stamped from silver @ 99999.99 grade over layered in 24k gold. I paid for a slug of copper stamped with the above emblems covered in 24k gold. Think about it! I paid a lot of money for a coin or coins with very little substance of worth as these coins. Do us right and get rid of the copper and use silver to plate with the 24k gold.

I've called on several occasions to check status of delivery and always have been treated with respect and integrity. They give me great deals and have always done as promised! I would encourage all those who have complaints to fully read their mail before signing the dotted line (just a common rule of thumb). I'm sure mistakes have been made but I'm positive they weren't intentional. In my experience American Mint is a stellar American company.

Received a junk mail offer from American Mint for a gold plated Lockback knife with an American Eagle scrimshaw handle + a free watch all for $9.95. Well, I knew it might be a cheap Chinese knife and an even cheaper watch; but, I was willing to take the risk as I am a knife collector and thought that if I didn't like the knife that I probably could sell it for the $10. A few weeks later, I get a package from American Mint with two knives, one the Eagle scrimshaw knife + the watch, and another a Big Horn Ram Sheep scrimshaw knife with an invoice that stated I owed $59.95 for the Big Horn knife. My order form said nothing about 2 knives and having to pay $60 for another.
Also enclosed was another order form informing me that they were holding a Civil War Commemorative Coin in my name valued at $99.95 for me for $4.95+$4.95 S&H. Now, the Big Horn Sheep knife that I did not order, to me is "an unsolicited gift" as I did not order it, and "screw 'em" if they want money for it. However, I was not raised that way; but, if my attempt to communicate with this company fails, I just might become "that way". I will post more of this continuing saga as it unfolds.

I'm not sure where the consumers have shopped that state their "COINS" from American Mint LLC are "worthless". I have been a collector for many years, I am company-loyal. The company I dealt with for over 25 years recently closed it's doors permanently, so I began researching other companies. I came across American Mint LLC in Mechanicsburg, PA - this was one of fourteen from fifty I had narrowed down. I did not tell them who I was nor my past buying experiences, however I ordered a 1997 plat-layered coin for $4.95, regular price $99.95 - thought ok, it's some kind of gimmick.
I received it along with a 2000 plat. coin which I did not like had no hassle return at all. I received another I did order and decided it was test time. I took both pieces, one plat-layered and one 24K gold-layered ($79.95 value purchase for $4.95) to a friend down south. He explained while very pretty indeed, the 24K gold was worth around $102.35 and the plat-layered was worth around $94.56. REASON? Market price fluctuation both had a collector value of about $75 each but the gold and plat (even though layered) market prices change daily, even hourly sometimes.
So before anyone should be bad-mouthing this company, maybe you should learn what you're talking about. And just because one person says it's worthless, you jump on here and try to hurt a companies reputation? Take a class or go to a seminar, learn for free online. In certain areas, all about collecting - there are so many stipulations that go into "VALUE", some of you probably could not even comprehend this. I have just this past weekend, ordered four more reg-priced and value-priced coins, so I'll let you know how they turn out.

I called American Mint and was told that by not having crossed out a portion of the form she mailed in, my mother had inadvertently ordered other items. I was given a postal tracking number for this supposed order and told we had to check with the post office before American Mint could do anything. Even though my mother never received a shipment, she went to the post office with the tracking number we were given and was told the shipment was invalid.
I called American Mint again, they argued with me about it before they said they would have to send out a form on which my mother would have to verify that she never received a shipment and send it back to them before they will refund her four + dollars and stop harassing her about the "unpaid balance" on items she never wanted or intended to order in the first place. I can only hope American Mint tries to pull this nonsense on one or more class action attorneys looking for some action. All that, but I have apparently been personally chosen to receive a free coin. Oh, and the offer is only available to American Mint Registered Collectors, which is bull or I wouldn't have gotten this offer. Then, in the description of the coin, it says GOLD-LAYERED! And the offer is only good for 10 days after I receive it. How would they know when I receive it? There is no date on the info, so I bet if I waited until this time next year I would still get it.
Now, on to what so many people can't seem to read... This is a part of a collection and I can view future coins for twenty days. It says this twice (!), once in a smaller print, and once in a text size that is the same as most of the mailing! Wow, I never looked at American Mint on the internet while I worked there for several years. I know how many people we pissed off over the years. First, 90% of the coins they sell aren't worth anything at all. They are collectibles and only worth what somebody is willing to pay for them. American Mint is owned by a Germany Company HMK GmBH. Initially, most coins were ordered from a Germany Company Munz-Pragstatt GmBH Munchen (referred to as MPM). Although still not worth much, the collectible coins were of much better quality. As a coin line becomes more successful, we send the Germany coins to China to be copied! MPM has no idea we get coins from China or we send their coins to China to be copied. The China coins are crap. The quality is horrible as you can see real distinct color differences. But here is the bottom line, here is a typical American Mint promotion. This special whatever named coin for only $4.95 plus shipping.
Okay, here is where the fun begins. Say the coin was a regular gold layered or silver-layered copper nickel bought by them from China. Usually, these coins will cost American Mint approximately $0.80-$1.50. They are charging $4.95 for the coin plus $4.95 shipping and handling. This would be a total of $9.90. They use FedEx Smartpost as their shipper and can ship anywhere in the US under a pound for about $1.74. Total cost to American Mint approximately $3. At $9.90, that is over a 300% profit. When a customer orders one of these promotional coins, they are entered into a subscription program. They can opt out of this but it is buried in the small print. In about three weeks, the customer will receive another collectible in the series of coins. This is where American Mint makes their money. These subscription coins are often sold at $79.95. Often, they are the same China coins bought by American Mint for $0.80-$1.50. Now that is quite a profit.
They put Certificates of Authenticity with each coin. What a joke especially for real United States currency coins they sell. For years and years, they advertised and certified these coins as being in Extremely Fine condition. An example of this was a promotion they ran with the 1907 Indian Head Penny. The certificates stated they were in extremely fine condition. The coins were never graded. I probably verified several thousands of these coins in my time there. Based on the coin red book, most of these were good or very good condition. The difference in price for good-very good and extremely fine is about $8. In fact, they were selling this way for years until they got worried about False Advertising. So what they had me do is reinsert new certificates into the coins saying they were good or very good condition. No attempt was made to tell the customers they were misled. This occurred many times with Franklin Half Dollars, Peace Dollars, Morgan Dollars, and Indian Head Pennies. Probably, thousands and thousands of these coins went out in extremely fine condition.
If you are buying real coins, you are probably better off going to a local coin dealer as American Mint marks up real currency as much as 50% of their cost. Beware of this company. I learned the hard way all about them. I'm currently drafting 51 letters to the Attorney General of each State and Washington DC to outline other business practices they may be interested in! I wouldn't buy anything from this company unless you have money to burn!

Finally, the customer representative told me that it was my responsibility to track down their lost package. I also find it interesting that American Mint LLC has been in the news for previous legal issues, including reported legal actions initiated by the state of Pennsylvania for practices that seem similar to the ones they pulled on me. I sincerely wish I had never done business with American Mint LLC.

I paid $5 S&H to get a USMC coin which I did receive. However, I was then billed for other USMC items that I did not order and did not receive. When I called to inquire about a "reminder" that my past due account might be turned over to "Transworld Systems, Inc.", the operator mindlessly kept asking me to describe the free coin that she acknowledged I'd paid the $5 S&H charge for, which is some kind of "badgering" tactic meant to wear down your resistance and get you frustrated enough (after being put on hold forever) to compromise. It didn't work.

My neighbor, an elderly lady, showed me items she received that she hadn't sent for. She was billed around $80. Now she has to have someone go to the P.O. for her. Also, she will have to pay postage for the return. How is it legal for companies to send non-ordered items to people and then bill them? It is a great stress for some people to deal with those situations.

I just received an offer for the Semper Fidelis Commemorative Coin from American Mint, and not being a dunce, I read the entire offer text with the credit voucher. First off, it is not a silver coin - none of their 'collectibles' are. It is silver-plated and says so plainly in the letter.
Second, it explicitly tells you, and I quote, "Upon receipt of your voucher, we will send you the Semper Fidelis commemorative coin (a $59.95 value) for just $4.95. This magnificent coin begins the Marine Corps coin collection, which is limited to only 9,999 complete collections worldwide. Your preferred registered collector status entitles you to preview other coins in the collection for 20 days with risk or obligation. YOUR PREFERRED REGISTERED COLLECTOR STATUS ENTITLES YOU TO PREVIEW OTHER COINS IN THE COLLECTION FOR 20 DAYS WITHOUT RISK OR OBLIGATION." The caps are mine, because they show the points that most of you ignored and now are ** about. By sending the voucher in, you gave them permission to send you other coins in the collection on approval, so they send a couple with the one you ordered. After 20 days, they assume you wanted the extra coins so they bill you for them. That is why you are getting billed.
It's not exactly a scam. They do spell out all the facts of the matter, but most readers either ignore them or are not smart enough to know what it means. So they shoot themselves in the foot then cry about it when the bill is due. Some of these people probably went for the Nigerian Bank email scam, as well.
Remember caveat emptor, which means, "Let the buyer beware." Be sure to read all the materials if you are considering responding to these kind of offers, do your due diligence, and remember that something plated does not equal pure something. If you want a bunch of cute cheap-** coins (pot-metal, really, then plated with a 2 mil (look it up) coating of silver (or gold or whatever)) then go ahead, but know that you are buying something that will have no value as an investment. Lastly, be aware, be smart, use the Internet to research these things before you buy, and you won't be borrowing trouble like the complainers below.
This has been a public service message from someone who doesn't buy crap.

I got a voucher in the mail in early December offering me the chance to get an Eisenhower coin for free. All I had to do was pay for handling and shipping. When the package came, there was also a coin commemorating General Douglas MacArthur. I knew that was a mistake and sent it back the first week in January. That cost me another $4.95. Since then, I have been told my account is perilously empty. I called that very day and explained I do not have an account. I was also told the MacArthur coin is not in circulation yet, so it's impossible one was enclosed with my order. The MacArthur coin was packed and sent back to you. The Eisenhower coin stays here. So, I bought one coin, got two for $4.95 shipping and the coin, by the way, was free! Three weeks later, I got another account notice, especially in view of the demand for over $3. I called them and was told the MacArthur coin could not have been sent. He also refused to explain my account.
In late April, I got a call and had to report the Eisenhower coin had been shipped and upon checking the records, at least the young lady accepted the fact that it had been returned. She told me I have an account because I bought something from you! I did not! I paid $4.95 shipping costs only. Now you have a collections agency on my case even though at $4.95, the $77 they claim I owe to balance out my account and if they have to take legal means to get it. I have paid $9.90 which was for shipping the coin not for General Eisenhower’s tribute. Twice, I have been in the offices of the Wisconsin Department of Justice. Their advice was to do nothing unless the situation got worse. Yesterday, I signed an order so no American Mint mail will be delivered, period. Yesterday was the first time I knew you had a collections firm.
One more thing, the voucher sent to me last year contains an opening paragraph. It reads. “Yes, I want to request the Eisenhower commemorative coin and I agree to pay only $4.95 for shipping and handling. I also will receive a 2" long vial of pure gold flakes, absolutely free!” I didn't even know about that. I did not get it. What I do not want to get again is one of those account numbers, suggesting I return the MacArthur medallion. It says here the medallions normally would cost $60. I paid for the buy I made with the $4.95 shipping and handling fee. This is the eighth communication I’ve had with American Mint. It shall be the last. If I was an employee at that place, in a role of responsibility, I can assure you fake letters dealing with a fake account, etc. It would immediately be turned over to JB Van Hollen, Attorney General of the State of Wisconsin.
Next time I send something to them, it will be the copy of the voucher they sent in December. They advertise in an assortment of US magazines, I've been told. But if and only if they decide to advertise with Charter.net, Southern Wisconsin's Cable outlet, I will shoot that down. I worked in sales there for a long time but no one who advertised on any of our channels. That's 120 channels, by the way. Summing up, make sure your collectors never send anything to me again. That decision is final. Thank you for your attention.

This statement/invoice states that it is for a "2nd Installment" of $92.85 and then states that it will be deducted from my credit card. Seeing as I have not yet been able to get through to them to check this on the account site, I'm automatically having my money taken. To be fair to American Mint, I am responding to all the complaints I have seen on this website. I am not associated in any way with American Mint. I have dealt with American Mint several times over the last few years, and have never had any problems cancelling any of the "special" programs I have joined. I have seen most of these deals that these people are complaining about on this website, and in every single offer I have seen in the fine print at the bottom of the offer where you are saying that you will be getting future issues of the commemorative that you are ordering, be it coins, model cars, model trucks or whatever.
So in American Mint's defense, you did agree, whether you realized it or not, to look at other items "on approval". But you can return them for a full credit, as I have many times. This again is a sad commentary on how people do not read the fine print and then complain that the company is treating them badly, when the company is just doing what they advertised they would.

As I read the issues other consumers were and are having with this particular company, I definitely could relate! I received some material in the mail the later part of 2007. The very first thing I received in the mail was just a post card telling me I could send this card in and receive a FREE Babe Ruth 22kt Gold Baseball Card. I mailed the gift claim certificate November 6, 2007. I did receive the baseball card December 22, 2007. Since I am a collector, I was very interested in seeing what they had to offer. I reviewed other material I had received and decided to try ordering from them.
I ordered a 1948 Tucker Torpedo. Then I ordered a 22kt gold baseball card December 7, 2007. At this point everything was going good. Then December 13, 2007, I placed an order for a 1948 Franklin half dollar and a George Washington Presidential Commemorative Coin Set. When I picked up this particular package at the post office I ASSUMED it was what I had ordered, but once I returned home and opened the package, I realized a coin that I HAD NOT ordered was placed in this same package. The coin that I didn't order was the John Adams Presidential Coin Set and enclosed was a bill for $59.97. I wasn't very impressed.
The following day, January 28th, I brought the package back and had to pay to ship it back to the company. I received a letter in response to my comments I shared with them saying they regretted I had received items I did not want. They did admit that by placing that first order, I HAD THE PRIVILEGE of receiving future issues in a particular series of collectible items. Now, I was definitely a skeptic and because I had really liked the items they had for sale. I had placed two other ordered before the deception began (I felt it was).
Packages were coming to the post office and I didn't know if I should accept them or not. I had items ordered, but I had no way of knowing if the package was what I had ordered or another gimmick and so I made the decision to refuse ALL the packages; therefore I was sending back the items I had ordered also because I didn't know which package they were! I wrote to the company once again and explained what was going on. I had been smart and photo copied EVERY transaction from the beginning. I had mail them copies of what my orders were and so they agreed to mail them to me without any SURPRISES.
I was patient and agreed. I did receive them and again was happy with the results of my persistence. My final confrontation with this company was about an item they were continuing to bill me for that I had NOT purchased. May 30, 2008 was the date of a letter I received from American Mint telling me it was a second REMINDER of a 60 day past due account for a Franklin half dollar 1963-P Bald Eagle with Flag that cost $45.85!!! They had tacked on a late fee of $3.50 because they had January 25, 2008 as the purchase date! I called about this error June 10, 2008 and I was told the mistake had been taken care of. I was pleased they had finally resolved this error, but I received another letter dated July 18, 2008 as a THIRD REMINDER that now I was 90 days overdue!!!
I called again July 23, 2008 and tried once again to make sense of all this. I was so concerned they were going to mess my credit score. I have always been on time paying all my bills. I have a credit score of 773 so I am very responsible and take paying my bills VERY seriously. I was really upset at this point; mainly for that reason. I shared my concerned with the woman I spoke with and told her I had excellent credit and these invalid late notices would send wrong messages about my credit history!! I explained to her that I have ALWAYS enclosed a check with my orders for the FULL amount so there has never been an outstanding balance.
I had copies of EVERYTHING I had ever ordered and a copy of every check I had placed with each individual order. Legally, I was fully covered!! I don't know why they insist on such poor business practices with the consumers. Their business would increase if they would be more responsive to their customers need to trust them. I'm sure they have lost a lot OF PEOPLE who would have liked to continue transacting with them, but they have made it so difficult!! I will place orders with them in the future because I am going to try again and I will make sure I have dated copies of EVERY transaction. I'm hoping their business method has changed for the better and I'm willing to give it one more try.
There has been no physical or economic damage; just MUCH frustration and the price to return 1 package. I'm very glad they are being monitored and held responsible for their seemingly dishonest behavior. Thank you.

I have tried consistantly and with enormous patience to resolve this dispute. American Mint has made it impossible. I have dealt with customer serv reps who were as helpful as possible and others that refused to connect me with supervisors. Dates contacted American Mint:
02/04/08, 02/25/08, (05/27/08, Sharon K.), (06/05/08,Doty), (06/23/08,Michelle*rep. & Jenny R. supervisor), (07/17/08, Mike), (07/28/08, Sononoie),(08/04/08, Sandra D. cust rep,& Jenny R., supervisor) (08/12/08, Brooks, & voice mail Joan M./supervisor), (08/13/08 Erika, cust rep & voice mail Joan M.).
Emotional stress that this will appear on my credit report as negative action, inability to find a remedy with American Mint, Loss of minutes on cell phone thru waitng to be serviced, on hold, hung up on, frequent calls to call center, voice mails not returned. This has created a stress level that far exceeds my normal level. I just want this resolved. I have tried to pay it, I have tried to straighten it out, I have gone far & beyond the consumer capability to settle. American Mint has not processed this in a timely manner nor with any professionalism.

I ordered the 20 dollar 9-11 plate that looks like a bill (paper) Yet this is silver leaf. I never got it but you got my twenty dollars. What it this about two coins #s. They look silver buat I do not recal ordering them. I do not want my credit card abused by American Mint!
I am disabled and from time to time I run into scams. Let us make it clear [they should] never send me coins that I have not pre-paid for. Otherwise, I have not ordered them and will not claim I owe anything. I have actually had rent checks returned due to scams like the mentioned above.

This is the second complaint I have filed for this problem. I received an e-mail in March of this year stating that if I answered a few political questions The American Mint Co. would send me a pocket knife for only the cost of shipping. The shipping cost was $4.99. I used a credit card to pay the $4.99. A short time later I received a package that had two knives. One just loose in the package and another one in a wooden presentation box. My May, 2008 credit bill showed the $4.99 charge and another from American Mint for an additional $49.95.
I didn't do anything about it until I received a third knife in the mail, with another bill. I called American Mint and told them that I didn't enroll in their knife program and to take me out of their system. They sent me an RMA (return material authorization) label which I attached to a new large padded envelope and packaged their original package with the last knife and sent it back to them. I received a dunning letter this month stating that I still owe them for the last knife (I paid for two knives: the original $4.95, and an additional $49.95 for the second knife).
I called them again this week after receiving the dunning letter and they told me they would send me an affidavid to sign, stating that I had, in fact, sent the last knife back. Instead of the affidavid their customer service dept. sent me a letter saying they checked their files and found no record of receiving this return, and that my claim should be with betweem me and the shipper. The customer service letter offered three options: Issue credit, send a replacement or the exact date the invoice was returned.
I would imagine that American Mint will degrade my credit rating over this. My credit rating is something that I work hard to keep my credit rating as high as possible.

I received an e-mail stating that if I answered a political questionaire that I would receive a pocket knife for $4.95. I received the knife, along with another knife in a presentation box. Nothing was written in their e-mail that this was an invitation to participate in a continuing program that would automatically bill my credit card.
The company enrolled me in a American Wildlife Pocket Knife collecton. They have already billed my credit card for the original $4.95 and an additional $49.95. I telephoned the Co. and requested they cancel any future mailings.

Here is my expeience from American Mint LLC.
1. Exclusive Offer for you, a wrist watch as advertised on the coupon, never appear. 2. It includes an extra item white-tailed Deer knife costing $49.99 which I didn't order at all. 3. The contact phone number listed on the invoice is a dead one - No call can get through. The number I found on the www.americanmint.com is ok but I can't get any cusomter service representative to talk to, only voice message. 4. Since I can't get anyone to talk to from American Mint, I emailed them for a request of the return label for the unwanted item and unsubscribing me from any future shipments, I got no response at all and last week I still got another unwanted item shipment costing $49.99 from American Mint. Worst company every.

I received a flyer in the mail advertising an American Silver Eagle ($1.00 face value) for $6.95 and a wrist watch. I read the advertisement and the offer seemed straight forward. I sent a check for $6.95 and shortly receive the Silver Eagle, the watch and some kind of commemorative coin. The bill for the commemorative coin was $59.95. If I did not wish to keep the coin, and it certainly was not worth $59.95, I could return it plus a $20.00 restocking fee. I returned the watch and the commemorative coin and included a letter disallowing any further charges from the company. I have not yet heard again from them. I think this is clearly a scam by American Mint.

June of 2007 we received a free coupon from American Mint. Enclosed was another coin that the invoice stated would be due if we kept said coin. We did not, we returned per their instructions. Eight months later we are harassed by a collection agency demanding payment for $67.47 for this coin they now claim they never received.
We have NEVER not paid a bill and if this in any way goes on our Credit Report, we want to go on record that these people are very disreputable.

I receved this box of two tiny replica cars (1) 1957 chevelot corvette and (2) cadillac eldorado after I left for deployment. My roommate contacted me about this package on email and I told him to send them back to the company as I did not want them. If I wanted them, I would look at them when I get back, but more than likely I did not want them and send them back. I told my roommate to send them back to the address on the box, which he did. Now I have gotten a 1st and 2nd notice that I still owe them $33.45 for these two miniture cars.
a. I have written a letter and they told me that I had to go back to the post office at track this box back to their address. How in the hell can I track a box sent to me months ago, when I was in Dubai and Afghanistan and just returned.
b. Today, 11 Jan 2008, I got a second letter and I call up this American Mint on a Google search and find out this is a scam outfit. This is the reason why I am writing this letter to you.
c. If you can do some thing, great. I don't want these people bothering me. My roommate sent these cars back and I do not want to hear from them again.

O received an in-mail survey offer from American Mint. I filled out the survey, ordered a knife with free gift of a watch for the cost of $4.95. They cashed my check dated 11/24/07, and that's the last I heard. I'm out the money.

I'm not sure how clearly American Mint is letting people know that their introductory offer is a membership plan and that the $5 charge is going to lead to a 59.97 bill and later threats of collection processes when the person doesn't realize that the shoddy crap they got in the mail actually costs more, and that the American Mint letters they get are not just more shilling for more products, but actually a bill. Hey, maybe they are following the bare letter of the law, but the spirit of the law as well? I don't know. Why don't they just put on the advert the full price and request the payment up front? Hmmm...afraid that no one in their right mind is going to shell out ~$60 for something not worth a fraction of that?

Coin from American Mint for $9.95 as advertised. Did not notice (printing obscure) that the Republic of Libya appeared on coin or I would not have ordered it. The coin was ordered on June 12, 2007 via U.S. Mail with authorization to charge VISA for $9.95. Received the coin ordered (supposedly silver) along with another coin that was not ordered on July 23, 2007. Included in the package was an abundance of literature soliciting the purchase of additional coins.
There was also Reservation Certificates for a variety of coins - some silver, some gold and some plated. I neglected to check out the integrity of American Mint prior to placing the order. Since then research shows that American Mint has been the subject of class action law suits for scamming the public. I further noted that my experience has been exactly the same as that described by ConsumerAffairs.com in earlier law suits. The invoice in the package indicated that a zero balance was due. A cover letter for American Mint was signed by Michael Young, Vice President.

As I am not sure that American Mint and National Collectors Mint are not the same organization,I am compelled to repeat most of what was stated in my complaint listed against National Collectors Mint. I have placed orders with both for two years or more and have just become aware of the coin scams today. I was looking for the number for American Mint and stumbled on your report. I have spent thousands of dollars on what appears to be worthless coins.
I just received the Freedom Tower coins this year and upon reading your report was instantly concerned. I have purchased the American President Set and many other significant event coins as well as knives and etc. I need some help to recover my stolen funds and confidence in our justice system. I will begin an immediate inventory of my purchases from this company in an attempt to ascertain just how much money was fraudulently duped out of. This is shameful and criminal behavior to say the least. The fines imposed on this company is far too lenient for the multitude of the deception. I placed two orders to these people just the other day (monday 26, 2007).
I will in light of this discovery attempt to cancel my order even though I only have to pay the shipping. Since this incident wasn't broadcast nation wide I got caught up doing business with a company with questionable ethics no integrity. HELP!!!
I invested in these coins as a means of padding my retirement and as a little something of value to leave my children and grand children. It looks like I'll be working the rest of my life and have little to leave behind.
