Let me start off by stating that I am an insulin dependent diabetic and I absolutely must have my insulin filled monthly. Originally I had used Walgreens Pharmacy and had a bunch of issues with them and decided to switch over to RiteAid in 2014. They were so simple to use, never had any issues and never worried about running out of insulin. They did automatic refills and even contacted the doctor's office for a new prescription if by some odd chance I forgot and let my refills run out. Everything was smooth sailing through about 2020.

Walgreens buys Rite Aid. I feared this happening. I really dreaded it. I knew it was coming and I knew things would take a turn for the worst when this happened. Around the beginning of 2021 is when things started to go downhill. They stopped the automatic refills. I couldn't get their app to work to manually refill. I'd call to refill and there's an issue. They finally got that squared away but the automatic refills never worked for me after that even though they claim to offer it. Now each time I manually refill a prescription they never have it in stock, I like to try and refill it once I get to my last pen, usually about 3 - 4 days short of being eligible for a refill because it's too soon. However it takes them 3 - 7 days to get any insulin in stock now. I'm in a pickle. I can't order it because it's too soon, but when it's time and I can refill, it still takes 3 - 7 days and I'm down to usually 1 - 2 days' worth of insulin left.

This is completely unacceptable as a leading pharmacy. The insulin pens come in a box of five pens. I literally get just enough that'll cover my dosage according to the doctor's dosages. For my main quick acting insulin, my dosages are determined by the amount of carbs I eat and a correction factor based upon my blood sugar. So one day I could be taking 55 units of insulin yet the next day it could be 80 or even 100 units. It used to be I would be given two full boxes (ten pens) of insulin and had a bit to spare and in the rare event that something happened getting it refilled or I was out of town, etc. this worked out great. Now I am lucky if I can even make it to my 30 days with a half a pen left since they feel like they need to limit me.

It's not the insurance, I've already spoken to them and one of the pharmacists even said it was the pharmacy itself. This last month they literally waited until I was down to my last 20 units of insulins of fast acting insulin and one last dosage of the long acting insulin before they would fill anything, and that was after calling them numerous times with no luck and finally going in to the pharmacy. The long acting insulin was out of stock, of course, like usual. They put in an urgent order, like they always claim to do. However I was down to my last dose and they claimed it would be in the next day, which we all knew meant at least two or three days at the very least.

After pleading with them that it was absolutely necessary they gave ONE pen to hold me over until they could refill the remainder, which was two more pens. Luckily with the long acting insulin a pen lasts me 10 days, so I had a little time if something went wrong. I am at a loss. Where I am located there is only Rite Aid, Walgreens, CVS and Walmart Pharmacy, all of which all TERRIBLE. I am completely done with Rite Aid's stints however. I hope for everyone else that their local Rite Aid is still a great pharmacy but definitely avoid the one in Middletown, Delaware.

The Rite Aid on 16th and Walnut St., Philadelphia is the absolute worst pharmacy I have ever had the displeasure of visiting. They never answer the phone, never. I can’t tell you how many times I have called over and over and over and never has one person answered the phone. They never have anything in stock, and it’s every man for themselves. They don’t care if your medication isn’t there. They are completely unhelpful, and frankly incompetent. They don’t know what they’re doing and they don’t care. They’re the most miserable people I’ve ever encountered. Rite Aid has become notorious for being a hell hole. It doesn’t matter where the location is. Frankly, they all suck. I can’t believe they’re still in business and are in charge of people’s medication’s. It should be illegal.

5 trips and they weren't ready, or, closed early, no help, or not open today. They are always slow And if there are several people in the line, it can take 30- 40 minutes. They have trouble finding the pills and they said, do not rely on anything ordered with their app. Store #11019.

Bait and switch. After ordering a home Covid test online, I was told that I would be contacted. I waited a day to be contacted. After hearing nothing, I called the local store. The gentleman who answered connected me to the manager. She told me I could come in the next day and purchase a Covid test with my insurance card. After not finding the tests in the store, I was told they were behind the front counter. After waiting in line, the clerk told me he had to call a manager to use my insurance card. He told me I had to go to the pharmacy to get one. I said if I took that test back and wait in another line, I could use my card. He then said no. They only sell one type of test via insurance cards, and they were out of them.

I said, "Seeing you don’t have that test, use the one the clerk gave me." From there, I felt I was Jack Nicholas in Five Easy Pieces attempting to order the breakfast I wanted. Because I needed to prove to the venue I will be teaching at that I didn’t have Covid, I purchased the test. The employees I spoke to were pleasant. I have no complaints, just compassion for them working for a poorly run company. I will never in the future waste my time at RiteAid.

Avoid this pharmacy like the plague if you want any type of consistent confident motivated helpful pharmacists and techs. I moved 20 miles away and kept this pharmacy because they were the opposite of what they have become. If you’d like to be regretful hostile and be given the runaround well everybody passes the buck without taking any responsibility for horrible service – then I guess I recommend them but if you would like help and empathy and consistent competency find another pharmacy.

My doctor called in a prescription that I need to survive, and Rite Aid refused to fill it and they never called my doctor about it.. They don't care if their pharmacy patients live or die.. There are 2 pharmacists at the South Centinela Rite Aid location in Los Angeles.. Stephanie and Kim are their names.. They don't have any compassion at all, and just give dying patients the run around.. RIte Aid will never get any of my business again if I live long enough.. I hope their entire corporation implodes or explodes.. I wish upon every member of that company 10x what I had to experience in my life.. 10x the hardship and 10x the struggle so they know what real suffering is like.

The Ambler, PA store is in need of a facelift. This location is always short-staffed. The employees are overworked, stressed out and underpaid. They let the security guard go so the shoplifters are frequent shoppers putting the employees in harm's way. The result is expensive prices. They used to be open 24 hours. Now they are open until 12. I don't know why anyone would shop here if it wasn't convenient.

On January 6, 2022, I stopped at Rite Aid Pharmacy in Derby New York to pick up a prescription that was ready. When told them there was new insurance and gave them a letter from insurance company that stated "Until insurance cards arrive, please use this letter to verify that the individual is insured". I presented letter and some women said I would need card. The pharmacist never bothered to read letter from insurance company. The people were extremely rude, and it was an inconvenience to fix this for a patient. I was informed that would take care of this when they had time. I would think this is not how a patient should be treated when when giving business to a Rite Aid Pharmacy. I would have waited for the prescription but they would not even give me a time that it would be ready.

On July 5, 2021, I purchase an eBay gift card for $200 and found out the card did not have any money on it and was used July 4, 2021, before I even purchase the card. I got this information directly from eBay and they told me to tell RiteAid to return my $200 because this card was no good if I purchase a gift card that was used before I purchased it. eBay gave me Ref # ** and told me to give it to Rite Aid and ask for Rite Aid to reach out to eBay to let them know that the card is no good. Rite-aid management refuses to call eBay and refund my $200. I call the police and contacted eBay again to let them know Rite Aid will not refund my $200. eBay had me file a complaint with IC3 and also send me an email for me to give to Rite Aid asking them to refund my money and to file a complaint against Rite Aid. I gave the email to Rite aid on July 6, 2021, and Rite Aid still refuses to refund my $200.

First off.. if I could give them ZERO stars I would... but I have to click on at least 1. I recently walked into what I thought was my local Bartells Pharmacy on 6th Ave. in Tacoma only to find out when I went to pick up my husband's monthly $22 prescription, it had gone up to $88 because I was now purchasing it from RITE AID... I had no idea they bought Bartells (I don't follow the news much).. but to be SHOCKED with such a HUGE increase in pricing for a GENERIC medication for a mere 28 tablets is a total RIP OFF. It's funny how one pharmacy charges $8... another $22.. and now Rite Aid $88 .. I will never step into that store EVER again,, will NEVER go to a RITE AID pharmacy.. and will go back to driving 14 miles away to get the same $88 scrip for $8 from CostLess.... Rite Aid is a Rip Off!!!

Then, today they tried to charge me AGAIN for what I had already paid for. When I became upset, they had the nerve to lecture me on "being respectful" when it was THEM who were horrifically disrespectful. NEVER GO TO RITE AID. THEY CANNOT BE TRUSTED.

My experience: Having been alerted weeks ago (Jan 13, 2021) that RiteAid pharmacies in the San Francisco Bay Area had appointments available for those 65+ for the first of the two Covid-19 vaccinations, I jumped at the opportunity that same day. It's a good thing, for the slots at various RiteAid locations disappeared very quickly. I was willing to drive anywhere and thus ended up going to one of the 2 locations in Antioch, CA, about 30 miles away, even though a RiteAid is located within walking distance of my home. Meanwhile and for safekeeping, I also tried to apply through the Contra Costa County, Safeway, and Muir Medical Group, of which I am a member. I persisted - (telephone, email, websites) and never heard back from any of those providers.

Yesterday, I received my 1st vaccination at the Antioch location at 20 East 18th Street (store #05908). I did not feel safe or comfortable. When I entered, some customers were not wearing masks, which should have been an omen. The store is relatively small, and the pharmacy was situated in the back. The area in which the vaccinations were being administered was directly adjacent to the pick-up line for medications, and there was a long line with customers not necessarily observing social distance. I expected to be ushered into a private room, as my friends had been who had been inoculated at other RiteAid locations. Instead, I had to sit in one of two chairs in close proximity to each other - and furthermore SURROUNDED by others as I awaited the shot. No space, no privacy.

After 15+ minutes, a technician appeared. She briefly explained the procedure, although I had trouble understanding her due to a language barrier. When I asked her a few (what I felt) were routine questions, she seemed unwilling or unable to answer them, anxious to move on. When I voiced a complaint about the lack of privacy and social distancing among others, she responded with "it's always crowded here" and dismissed me. She told me to remain in my seat for 15 minutes (standard operating procedure) but didn't bother to check on my condition. I left the store, feeling grateful that I had succeeded in getting vaccinated in the first place, overcoming the challenges of making my way through the chaotic system.

I have tried to re-schedule my 2nd appointment for the shot that will occur at the same location. I personally visited the pharmacy of a close-by RiteAid store and was told it had no ability to alter appointments. I contacted the Corporate RiteAid customer service department and was informed that no central phone number existed by which I could change my appointment. Instead I was directed to the website of the County Health Offices and to the original email address by which I booked the appointment (neither option worked). I have filed a written complaint.
