So I had SA come to pick up a number of pieces of furniture and they deemed some of them to be too "used" to accept. I understand that as they are planning to resell the items and it may not be successful if the items are too worn. However, I had an armoire that was in pristine condition and they would not take it. They thought the distressed design of the item (which is designed to be an antique reproduction) indicated that it was in bad shape. I tried to explain to them that the item was suppose to look that way and was in fact identical looking to the day I bought it and they said I was incorrect (I guess lying) and they refused to take it.

I needed to have everything out of the house that day and with their refusal, had no plan for how to deal with the armoire. I tried calling the driver's supervisor but he was just as stubborn and kept suggesting that the piece was "worn out" and not suitable for the store. It was incredibly frustrating. You may not like the distressed style but I had no idea the SA would refuse a style. Won't be dealing with the SA in the future. Just not worth it.

This was the worst experience I have ever had dealing with a company. I had scheduled a pick up for Thursday between the hours of 9 to 12. They did not come. Called the company, first they said they could not find my appointment. Then after waiting, they finally found my appointment. They finally showed up at 2. Walked in, looked at my furniture and said they would not accept my furniture. It was not in excellent condition and they just walked out. Prior to scheduling the pickup, as request sent them a picture of the furniture which clearly shows the sofa started to peel as bonded leather will do. I would never advise anyone to do any type of business with this company. The workers were extremely rude.

Today was 50% everything day and store was crowded. There were only two of the five registers staffed. Spoke to assistant manager Chris who was rude and ignorant who’s solution was just be patient and wait. Spoke to the store manager (efficient, courteous, and decisive) who immediately opened 2 more reg. Of course we still waited in line but big difference overall. How the assistant manager (Chris) could be so rude and clueless is concerning. He should in my opinion be demoted or fired as was voiced to the store manager. Five stars to store manager- one star to assistant manager Chris thus the three star rating.

Salvation Army was scheduled to be here today and my wife told me they will call 30mins before pickup. I got a call from my wife while I was still sleeping at home that Salvation Army was at the door...! I was surprised because what they told us was that, they would call before 30mins before they showed up. I manage to wake up and went downstairs to open the door. I came out in the cold and the driver was still sitting in his truck looking at me through his side mirrors. I walked back to my door hoping he has seen me and would walk to the door which is did. I opened the door and said hello..., he responded and asked if he could see the two fridges I wanted to donate. I said ok and that, he will need to take off his factory/warehouse boots or use something to cover his boots or come in with his socks which is not unusual for people coming into my house and the very light type of rugs in my house which we maintain very expensively.

The Driver holding the papers in his hand actually said a NO and requested I move the rug aside. I had no problem doing that for the hallway rug which I said to him, But the second fridge is in the basement rugged wall to wall and there's no way we will move that rug NOR will I let his factory boots and his fellow driver boots walk on my clean rugs with their factory boots and if there's a way he can cover the boots with some nylon? He responded with…"THEN YOU WILL HAVE TO FIND SOMEONE ELSE TO GET YOUR STUFF THEN..."

It's a very SAD Experience! These drivers call the shot! They did exactly the same last year. We donated a new Queen size bed. The first driver that came said there was a minor scratch on the side of the headboard which wasn't visible and he couldn't pick it up which I think was pure laziness! My wife called Salvation Army and Another driver showed up 3days later and said there was nothing wrong with the bed. He picked it up with great appreciation. I just cannot soil or mess up my well maintained rugs because I'm trying to give out items that will be of great help to someone out there. Every drivers sent out there to pickup an item for Salvation Army should learn how to exemplify the Salvation Army Mission of trying to help someone out there. These drivers should show character bigger/greater than themselves.

My perception today reflects individuals trying to tell me 'they are doing me a favor' picking up my donated items. I decided NOT to donate it to them because, it's the other way around. People has to feel they're doing a noble thing donating to people in need. I'm just disappointed because, this is not the first time I have had to deal with these kinds of drivers from Salvation Army. This is just the first time I've chosen to express this. I hope drivers like this don't end up destroying the great reputation of Salvation Army.

After posting some items on Craigslist for sale, I decided I would just donate the furniture to the Salvation Army. I donated a couch, an entertainment center, and several decorative cabinets. I purchased the furniture from Ikea and it was all in perfect condition except for the coffee table. I am aware that most moving companies have a disclaimer about Ikea furniture. However, all of the furniture was put together by Ikea experts and I myself moved this furniture once with no issues.

On the day they picked up my items I thought all was fine. Then as they were wrapping up one of the drivers thought it was important to tell me they usually don't take Ikea furniture and that all my items would probably wind up in the trash. Again, they had finished loading my items at this point so it was not as if I was given the opportunity to change my mind about donating. And personally, I felt the statement was not Christianly. It was in fact very mean to tell me after they had loaded all of my perfect furniture that they were going to dispose of it.

They do no help people as much as they claim. A while ago 15yrs I lost my job and home I had a 6 month old baby and wife I turned to them for a little help and lo and behold they would not help my family because we are **, yet another ** family got all kinds of help. Sad thing is to this day when I see them collecting money in kettles at Christmas I give money hoping it is going to help someone in need. After all it's only Christian like. This happened at the Williamsport Salvation Army. I personally feel that they show favoritism to certain groups not races. It is likely it may have just been the colonel was just an **, I sure hope he has never been that heartless to any other being. I hope this year at Christmas time people have humanity in their hearts and help someone who may need it, I know I will. Even though I suspect that there is a lot of pocketing money in that organization. God knows who's honest and who is not. I hope this helps someone.

Contacted Salvation Army to donate a Love Seat, Sofa Sleeper and dresser. All are in good condition. When the 2 men came out to pick up said they could not take because the love seat and couch were faded from the sun and the dresser had a little wood chipped at the bottom side. Dresser was beautiful and couch was in excellent condition. Someone in real need could have put a couch cover on it and have a perfectly good piece of furniture. It’s like they only accept new things. This is a thrift store for Pete sake. I would have killed for this type of furniture for my first apartment. I will never contact, donate or recommend the Salvation Army again. They are definitely not working for the people in need. What a shame.

Seriously, it's a thrift store for God sake not a new furniture store. The furniture was hardly used. It's bad enough that I don't shop there because it's too expensive but then I try to donate and you want the furniture to be perfect. I really hope this store goes out of business soon!

I have scheduled pickups in the past but today I was so disappointed. I had a solid oak desk and shelving unit and a few odds and ends to donate. The desk was a very nice piece of furniture. I arranged my schedule twice around a pickup because of the desk and when they showed up for delivery (which I waited all day for) they told me they didn't take furniture. I had waited all day for a delivery truck to pick up a few boxes that I could have easily taken myself. The fact that they didn't inform me when I set up delivery has caused me a day wasted waiting and I missed other events because I was not available because I need this desk removed to clear space. I don't know if I will donate again.

In Bellingham WA, the Salvation Army Thrift Store USED to be the best Thrift store in the county. 2 yrs ago, they put an older woman in charge. She changed everything in the store. Nancy decides on prices that cost more than if you were to buy brand new. Rumor has it that the store is closing in 3 months. The actual manager asks customers what she should do to turn around business, but then does the opposite. It's as though Salvation Army WANTS this store to close because the 2 older women running the place are literally running the store into the ground. I've watched employees just walk off the job mid shift because of the insanity.

The really sad thing is that the revenue from this store actually goes into a fund for very low income families for help. They dont help a lot, but they have kept many off of the street, clothed many in need and been a really neat store to find fair bargains at, UNTIL 2 YRS AGO. They have spent the last 2 yrs repricing literal garbage. They spend more money on dump runs from moldy destroyed donations than they make in a whole month! The older gals, Nancy and Sara, are terrible at their jobs. The hostile work environment is all gossip and laziness. All of the volunteers quit, even paid employees quit after they cant take it anymore.

Shame on the 2 women who have taken a really great place and turned it into a failure. I'm happy to shop elsewhere and I will NEVER SET FOOT IN THAT STORE AGAIN, unless Nancy and Sara are no longer there. I've been shopping there for 10 yrs now, and quite frequently!! It's disappointing to overhear old bitty banter about employees, volunteers, gossip about the church and upper management. I'm not a soap opera fan, so I don't find their casual, unprofessional ways amusing.

The absolute worst part is that without that store, there will be no funding for those most in need in our community. These 2 could care less. They knowingly overprice broken, moldy, torn, stained garbage. Kinda seems like these 2 are TRYING to get this store shutdown. Wish Salvation Army would fire the problems, and hire people who dont give special pricing to their personal friends and family, while overcharging thru the roof for the counties dumpster items. It really used to be such a wonderful store!!

6432 Rising Sun Ave. I was shopping at the Salvation Army on Rising Sun Ave yesterday in Philadelphia, Pa. I LOVE thrift stores shopping. My 5 yr old daughter left her cellphone in the store. So I go back and tell the cashier, my daughter left her phone. I can clearly see it from where I am. The MANAGER tells me I have to wait. SHE COUNTING CASH. Patiently, after 20 mins w/ my child having to go to the bathroom the lady walks off. I bangs on the glass and ask can she just pass me her phone. She screamings, "WE CLOSE." I AM HEATED NOW. I CALLED THE COPS. I staked out the front and told my husband to come and stake the BACK!!

She wasn't leaving WITHOUT giving me my daughter's phone. SHE LIES and said there was no phone there. SHE turns the lights OFF so you couldn't see. She didn't know I took a photo of my phone sitting there prior. I SHOWED IT TO THE COPS.. I told the officer, "She lying. My daughter phone is right there." She was heated because the cops told her to give the phone. The officer took his flashlight and could clearly see the PHONE. I waited for 45 mins with my child in the heat and this is how people do people!!! The Salvation Army will hear a word or TWO from me tomorrow!! AND I will never patronize one again!! The manager told the cops to tell me not to come back again. The nerves. I was the victim and ban me? I have contacted management and no one has returned my call. Next will be the media.

I scheduled a pick up online for 5 items to be picked up in mid June. When I contacted the Salvation Army directly I was told they don’t take mattresses yet it is included on their website. I completed the form and thought my items would be picked up on the scheduled date. The furniture to be picked up was at a home no one currently lives in and is 25 miles from my home. My husband and I called on the pick up date to see if all items were picked up and the lady informed us that the driver got lost and would be still picking up our furniture on that day. No one texted us to let us know that our furniture had not been picked up. We found out 4 days later from a family member who drove by the house that the furniture was still on the driveway. We contacted Salvation Army to find out what happened and not one of the four people could explain why the furniture had not been picked up.

The driver took a picture of door knob and no one could explain why that picture was taken. After talking with these people one person informed us that the driver would not take the furniture because there were stains and they could not be sold. After a few minutes on the phone with these people we were so frustrated that no one apologized or appeared to care that the furniture had not picked up. We decided to drive the 25 miles to take it to the Goodwill store near the home. The young man was happy to receive our furniture and even mentioned that they would sell easily. There were no stains on this furniture and there was no reason why they weren’t picked up. We have always thought of this organization as being one that we’d want to donate our items to, but after this experience I will never use them again.

After all the bad reviews I was hesitant to schedule a pickup. I filled out the online form and for my mattress/box spring and bed frame. The day before my scheduled pickup, I was able to call and was given a time window of 11am-2pm (I never had an issue getting through to a person to ask, in fact it was easier than I thought to get to the right person). The truck showed up at 11:45, and I showed them the bed frame and mattress. I should mention that this was up on the second floor. They happily took my mattress and box spring -- I had a mattress protector on it, and it was barely used so it looked brand new. Then I gave them a screwdriver and they broke the frame down, and hauled it all out. One of them gave me a receipt and they were done within 15 minutes!! I'm glad that someone will get use out of my barely used full size bed, and after this experience I wouldn't hesitate to schedule another donation with them in the future.

I shop all second hand stores wherever I am, and also donate. I have recently noticed an attitude change in management and also in some help. They often act like they are NOT in the selling and service industry, and are doing a huge service to LET YOU purchase their items, which, as we all know, are donated to help others. Yesterday I went up to purchase a gauze jumpsuit and a couple of other things. There was a $3.99 price tag but it must have fallen off, and I couldn't find it when I was at the register, but despite every person including management knowing me BY NAME and knowing I shop there first and regularly and probably spend more than almost any other customer they have, they refused to sell the jumpsuit (for ANY price).

I talked to acting management and was told it had to be sent back to a town an hour away for pricing, but might be able to be held until the real manager came in this morning, since she has some pricing discretion, as she has often told me. I left it behind the counter with them and returned at opening this morning. It was nowhere to be found, and had been sent back, they said. Thinking about it later, I realized the truck hadn't been there, so it couldn't have gone anywhere, so I returned and pointed that out NICELY, at which time they said it had been "ragged out" in a bin in the back and would be trashed. I offered $20 for them to go get it out but they refused. I also offered to go get it myself, but of course that was impossible. The attitude has been very much AGAINST the customer lately, and I have watched theft (reported it and management was changed), unnecessary meanness, and even racism from management toward paying customers.

I don't know why they think the customers are not important, or undeserving of respect, as well as the people who donate, but that is definitely the attitude of late. I have already stopped donating there, and now have to decide whether I should continue to shop and spend money there. Plus, if something is valuable, in many stores, it will never make it to the floor and goes home with employees or out the back door with their friends. And they are very suspicious of people who they feel are finding "great" deals. They don't like it. Absolutely not the way the stores should be operated.

I had a couch, shelving unit, cabinet and vanity dressing table, all in good condition, but the driver would not take them. Cincinnati, OH Salvation Army. I have 2 corner curios. 1 has a scratch on the BACK of the curios, end table and barbies with Barbie house, clothes, books. The driver wouldn't take curios because they scratch on the back. Took the barbies and clothes, headboard, footboard but not nightstands. The driver didn't want lift anything heavy and ran out of room knowing I had all these big items to be picked up. I filled all of this out on the online pickup schedule 3 weeks prior to the pick up date. You really need to have a rating of no stars considering how terrible this experience was.

I had a pickup scheduled for a couch, loveseat, and recliner. All in excellent condition. Day of pickup arrived and nobody showed up. When I called dispatcher he said driver came and took a picture of the recliner and the arm was worn. Now first of all none of my furniture was worn. Second of all I was home all day and nobody came to my house. Dispatcher was very nasty and basically called me a liar saying that someone did come to my house. I had to cancel my new furniture delivery for the next day and try to find someone else to take my furniture. This was after waiting a month for Salvation Army pickup. Then I found out from a neighbor that she saw the SA truck drive thru our community and go straight out again. Obviously could not find my house so decided to lie about it. My advice is do not ever deal with Salvation Army. They are nothing but a bunch of lying nasty people. I wish I had read reviews first. I haven’t found a single good one.

I have to echo what others have said; Salvation Army will not pick up your things unless they're brand new. We lugged a couch, 3 chairs and a bedframe into our driveway along with bags of books and clothing. Came home late to everything still there and to rain pouring onto the furniture. Their reason was the drivers said the furniture was flawed or damaged; only one chair was questionable, the rest was fine, no tears, damage, anything. Clothes and books were normal lightly used things, and the bed frame was almost new! They were supposed to call and let us know but no one did.

We wanted our things to go to families in need and expected that, and I guess it's not good enough for the Salvation Army. I would think a family who just had a fire or who had very little money would appreciate the furniture, it's sad, because now we have to take it to the dump. Not sure but I guess they expect to have brand new items so they can sell them for more money at their stores? I don't think I would support this charity again, if lightly used things aren't good enough, I have to question where the money is going.

I have donated THOUSANDS to the Salvation Army. Additionally, I have spent countless money per year in the Manassas Virginia Thrift Store. Recently I had a dispute with the cashier who lied about an exchange that did not happen... The manager (Gigi) of whom they have had numerous complaints set me up to appear that I made threats, cursed, and demeaned an employee. Unfortunately when they are filming you in their store they do not have audio as I asked them to play the audio to reveal the truth. As a background, I'm an interior designer professionally, a law-abiding citizen, and my husband is a director for the CIA. I let them know I would contact corporate and when that happened that's when the lies were revealed.

Several months later I returned to the store quietly and with a witness and proceeded to shop and as I checked out Gigi came up to me and brought security demanding that I leave. She also made sure to keep her face hidden from any cameras so they could not see her Exchange as the verbiage was inappropriate. Fortunately, I was able to have my phone camera on unbeknownst to her as I set that in motion prior to walking into the store. I know this sounds very crazy and it is! I plan to make this situation go public as I feel certain this has happened to many.

What happened? We have been donating at this center on Adamo Dr in Brandon for years...actually decades and the last time, we were insulted and even yelled at. We came and parked at the ramp to drop 2 bags and we did not go up the ramp because we have a long hitch on our minivan and it would scrape. There was no one in back of us and it would have taken 30 seconds. OH NO! The attendant yelled at us calling us an expletive and the client before us also yelled about us "blocking the driveway". Again, NO ONE IN BACK OF US...HELLO!

So, to Goodwill we went and will continue to go there. So what was it? My hair length or style, the color of our van? I wear glasses?. I'm shorter than the attendant? Maybe a sign should be posted "Rude Treatment May Be Administered At Any Time". Hmmm maybe this employee can only work at Salvation Army because of his attitude. So, thank you so much for allowing us to donate our seemingly worthless items and even money for all these years until now. Unfortunately I realize that I am not worthy to drop off my items at the Salvation Army Brandon...

Day of scheduled pick up, received a call that they had to cancel. I implored them to reconsider and, thanks to the kind gentleman on the phone, they said they would come by. Truck pulls up and leaves 30 seconds later, leaving all the furniture. Called Salvation Army and was told furniture condition was too poor for their thrift stores!! Ridiculous! They were very professional and helpful. And they also gave the receipt for donation. I appreciate their service and would recommend them to my other friends too. I was told the window was 8:30-3:30, but I could call the day of for a more exact time. The morning of my pickup, I tried several times to call but no one answered the phones. When I finally got through to someone, she told me there had been a discrepancy and they were working on getting a truck for the pickup and I should call back in an hour for a timeline. I asked if the pickup would still happen that day, and was told yes. When I called back an hour later, I was told the pickup would be between 2-3:30.

At 3:35 I received a call saying they couldn't do the pickup that day because they were running behind, but could come the next day. I told them I was moving the next day so they ended up coming the original day. However, when they arrived they were very rude. They told me I had to move a bunch of things around to get the couch out the door (which I was happy to do) while they brought the first donations down to the truck. When they came back up, they said they couldn't take the couch because they claimed it was too dirty, even though it's in great condition and I had vacuumed and cleaned it that morning.

I don't understand why they couldn't have told me that originally when they came in before I moved everything around for them, as obviously nothing about the condition of the couch had changed during the time they came back. I also thought it was unnecessary for them to be so rude to me, and couldn't offer any solutions of what I could do to get rid of the couch if they wouldn't take it. I was never even offered a tax deduction form for the stuff they had taken. I can tell you I won't be donating anything else to them, as this whole experience was incredibly frustrating. It shouldn't be hard to get someone on the phone to answer a simple question, and I don't think it's unreasonable to ask that people be somewhat polite when you're making a donation.

Today I visited the Clovis California branch Salvation Army store as I often do and have always appreciated the kind customer service I received from them. However today I found in their "eyeglass basket" (where they put all the eyeglasses) a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses so I looked them over. Usually their eyeglasses are a dollar and their cases are a dollar so I thought nothing of it being priced at $3.49 because after all they were Ray Bans! They looked a bit cheap so thought maybe they could be a knockoff, just not sure but anyway after doing a brief research decided to take a chance and buy them anyway. I am experienced in eyeglasses but this one just had me stumped as to quality.

Got to the cash register and a young man whom I have never seen before says "Oh I have to double check this price, because these are RAY BANS! I looked at my relative puzzled as I wasn't aware that Salvation Army policy is as quoted by this employee "they could change that price on me if they want and don't have to sell them to me at that price." I told him I don't think you are right about that, you guys priced them and put them out on the floor and now think you can just charge more because you think they are more "valuable." He says, "Yep, we don't have to sell them as per policy." Okay I must admit I was a bit ticked off as he loudly exclaimed, "these are over $400 glasses" which I know they are definitely not! Anyway he handed them off to another employee who went ahead and sold them to me but said "that was SA policy" Which I thought later "Then why did you sell them to me?"

This Salvation Army store seemed to always have good integrity so I just could not believe these two "new employees" would actually think they could act that way and try to change up the prices on merchandise people bring to the checkout simply because they thought it was worth more. Oh and when I disagreed with the employee's $400 value and questioned if they were even real Ray Bans, he says "are you insulting my selling ability or knowledge?" Of which I appropriately answered "yes to both" needless to say this left a bitter taste with me for this experience there and too bad because I go there often and also donate to this store only. I guess I will be donating elsewhere from now on.

I scheduled a pick up for 5/23/18. They picked up a few boxes and left many appropriate items behind claiming they were not in good condition. They lied and stated that a Laura Ashley very expensive chair in very condition had a cigarette burn on it which was a total lie! It's just heavy! They left boxes of books and items that were brand new with price tags on them from the Pottery Barn! I was told that when they decide they aren't going to take some things they leave appropriate items left behind. What sense does that make? I have always donated to the Salvation Army but will never again!!!

I had a pick scheduled today. I called this morning after 7 AM as they told me to do so so I can know the pickup window. They said it is between 12 - 3 pm. So I took today off and put all furniture in the living room. I waited till 3.50 and nobody called or showed up. I called the number in the email they sent me when I scheduled the pickup, and 20 mins waiting, the lady said: "Sorry, but the driver canceled the pickup, and they don't have space anymore." I asked her, "Why didn't they call me?" She said, "I don't know. Please call the dispatch." I called the rehab to put me through to the dispatch, nobody picked up. I called the rehab again and he said that there is nobody in the dispatch, but call again.

I left a voicemail and called the customer service again after 15 mins waiting, another lady told me that the drivers don't carry cell phones. I asked her: "Do they cancel their appointments without telling people?" She was so unprofessional and all over the place with her answers. She said more than 4 times: "I can schedule for next week," and I kept asking her: "How do I know if they are going to cancel?" She also said that the driver's decision to accept or not accept the furniture. And since I live on the 2nd floor, they won't take the donation, unless I leave them outside the building. I asked her again, "How do I know that they are going to come in to pick them up?" Her answers are mechanic with 0 empathy or understanding. I am super frustrated. This is the worst service.

I scheduled a pickup to donate multiple household furnishings which I thought could have been useful to your organization. I received a call from a rude SA worker during my business hours. He was rude, loud and left me on the phone for long periods of time with no explanation. During the week of my pickup which was supposed to occur on 5/18/18, I received several more calls, some telling me they could pick up my donation because I was donating too many items, others confirming that the truck would be here for the pick-up as scheduled. By late afternoon on 5/18/18, no SA pick-up. I checked the website and say a notation that the pick-up occurred at 9:545 AM. I called the customer service number and was told I should have called earlier as there was nothing they could do at this point and I would "have to wait" until 5/23/18 when it was convenient for SA to pick up my large order.

When I expressed my frustration and advised about the previous rude SA employee, I was told "no one has been rude to you". I have never encountered a more ungrateful non-profit organization. Can you survive without charitable donations? This my second written complaint. I sent the first one via the email on your website and never received a response. We routinely donate to the SA, but not anymore. I will tell everyone about this negative experience and tell them to donate elsewhere. You should train your employees to respect donors and educate them on how non-profit organizations function and survive or NOT. I have never been treated so dismissively when trying to do something to benefit others.

I first want to point out that I am a 70 yr old disabled female. It took me 3 weeks to clean out my shed and subsequently stack the 17 boxes in front of my house for pickup. There was also an armoire which was, admittedly, not in the best of shape, and I was doubtful that they would take it. On the day of pickup I sat at my desk as they placed paperwork on my door and left before I could even get to the door. The paper they left stated they were unable to pick up because of "condition or type of item."

Okay, so that accounts for the armoire, but what about everything else? I had 8 boxes of nearly new hardcover books, a bag of freshly laundered clothing, a box of handbags, 2 boxes of misc. wires, chargers, remotes, etc., a Guitar Hero game, a Band Hero game, 2 computer monitors, 3 printers, window screens, etc. I immediately emailed the SA, voicing my complaint, and have yet to receive a response. Have they become so 'successful' that they have no regard for anyone?

Does the "discretion of the driver" now mean that they have the right to be disrespectful and "lazy?" In lieu of their failure to pick up the items, I had to spend another day removing the items from my yard and putting them in my car to donate them to another charity. I was raised in the SA, but I will NEVER rely on them again, and will refer my donations elsewhere.

The staff gave another address, I said thank you, but there’s another place much nearer. Staff right away became impatient insisting she only had ONE record of drop off place and NOT WILLING to check or put forward (let alone showing gratitude) my feedback on the missing info of that other nearer place. To Whom it May Concern: I went to the location in Chicago, Illinois on Clybourne. The date was 11/30/2017. Within the last year I have frequent with locations with friends and gotten some valuable items that I’m quite pleased with. This particular day I went in the store in the latter part of the afternoon/early evening with no coat no bags just myself and my wallet. This particular day I was searching for an record player. No plans to purchase anything more. Well in reality I got in the store and lost focused and saw other things which included two of the items that I found on the regular racks (not from the boutique section). One item was not priced so an employee got the item priced for me and another item the tag was obviously damaged.

Needless to say at check out I discussed this with the (very kind cashier) Karen. She told me due to the one tag being damaged she could not sell to me and she questioned the other item because it was not priced correctly. (It was a boutique item not a regular store item.) No problem. As I was walking out I realized my receipt was incorrect. I was overcharged for two items and not charged for one item in my basket. My total was well over $100. One charge was for one of the items I couldn’t purchase. She actually rang it up ($14.99) however never removed off my purchase order and the other was for an item I decided I no longer wanted instead of the item I did want. (I knew it was a simple mistake because Karen and I were chit chatting about another item I was purchasing which distracted the both of us.

I voluntarily went to the (very kind) manager on duty (Daryl) whom was speaking to another female employee at the time. I told both parties the situation since they were standing right next to each other. He explained to me that he could not refund my money but could give me a credit and if I saw something I could use my credit... AGAIN. That was No problem!! With all of this being said I asked was there any way I could get the items that couldn’t be sold to me tagged correctly so I could purchase them that day those items I really wanted. The female that was speaking with the manager at the time (Takisha) went on to say that wasn’t possible. It had to go through a process and would not be able to be sold until the next day.

I asked Takisha then does she happen to know what time will the items be processed to be placed back on the floor the next day and is she sure it wasn’t any way they could be tagged at that time only because in the past something that wasn’t priced etc I have seen it done in that store for others. Moving forward after the conversation (again I had no bags no coat just myself and my wallet along with the items in my cart) Takisha asked me for my receipt. (I provided the receipt to her as she requested with no problem.)

Takisha decides to go through all my items in the cart. Compared them to the receipt, found the item that had not been rung up (mind you that is ONE of the reasons I brought it to the manager along with the overcharges in the first place). States to me "Well there is an item that you werent charged for which was half off of 19.99." (Now we all know half off of 19.99 is not 14.99 which I pointed out to her. Then Takisha said "Well she accidentally gave you 25% off and I said that couldn’t be either because normally when they give the discount of 50 or 25% it clearly states that on the receipt which was not on it. It was obvious I was charged for the item that an employee had tagged for me of $14.99. The charges I had on my receipt that was in question was 14.99 (the item I wanted that I couldn’t get) and another amount for the item that I didn’t want.

Takisha subtracted the item from my credit leaving me a credit of $10 that I had to sign for in the logbook for store credits. Now after all of this time I was in the store, bought all of this stuff, got to the car and realized what I went in there for which was the record player I didn’t even look to see if they had one. Lol. So I put my items in the car and went back in to look to see if they had a record player. Now this is what gets me. As I was walking out saw 2 more items that I liked and purchased those items as well. Now what gets insane is at this time I was totally unaware that this employee Takisha believed I tampered with the tags. I wasn’t aware of this as of yet. No one said anything to me regarding them thinking I tampered with the tags. How I was enlightened that she believed it was me I learned later in an extreme unfortunate way.

Next Day. Dec 1, 2017. Went back to the store around the time Takisha stated to find the items (around noon 1pm latest). Went to the proper section she stated they were going to be in (the boutique section). I asked the employee working the area at the time... had she seen these items (even described them to her). Mind you she was putting out clothes at this time. She told me NO & walked off. The employee watched me go through each and every rack in that section. I just happen to glance over and one of the very same items she claimed she had NEVER seen. Sure enough she had one of them. Now this annoyed me which led me to asking her what was her name (she stated Rakita). I go to ask her after that about the other article which was some pants that should have been tagged with this shirt.

I questioned her, "Have you seen those... Because you already told me you hadn’t seen this top and clearly that was a lie." While this is transpiring here comes Takisha the woman from the night before. Now I’m not going to say she came up there due to me now. I am assuming now she came up there because I have recently discovered her and Rakita are good friends. I asked Takisha about the other item. She claimed she doesn’t recall what the pants even looked like whatsoever. However when the boutique tagger came up to the front Takisha described the pants down to the color and the material. Second problem if you don’t recall, how did you just described them? Which made me ask Takisha what was her name.

Moving on... the boutique tagger asked me the brand of pants etc and he would go look to see in the back. Takisha walked back there with him. I waiting a good 10 min. Takisha comes from the back eventually and said to me verbatim if he finds them he won’t be able to give them to me until he fills up an entire rack and brings the rack out. A few more minutes passed he comes out I inquire did he see them. He states no. I told him then that I felt this was being done intentionally. It was quite obvious that the scenario wasn’t right. I already realized at this point in time I wasn’t being provided the item INTENTIONALLY. However I couldn’t pinpoint was it due to them wanting the item or what the true issue was.

I go to the register to purchase the shirt. I told the cashier I have a credit. She goes to the log book and there is no credit log sheet from the night before that could be located. Let them tell it. I asked them to contact a manager which the cashier did. The cashier asked whomever she was on the phone with was I provided a credit. Apparently she was told yes however whomever she spoke with told her I needed to have my identification and the actual credit receipt. I just so happen to have this credit receipt in my vehicle so I went outside (overly annoyed as I should be), went back to the car, got the receipt. Went back to the cashier which she took it for their records. I purchased the top but not the other item because it was nowhere to be found. Let the associates tell it.

So now we come to Dec 30th 2017. Went in there at approximately 358 pm... was not in there 10 min. A random associate walks up to me and states she was informed that I was told by a manager I was not able to purchase anything from the store anymore. Now I was totally thrown off. I asked for what reason and the employee states verbatim she doesn’t know why. After being told this, I proceed to say to her I will need for her to have a manager provide me of a reason why along with what manager and a date that this transpired because I was not aware of anything of this.

A few minutes later a manager by the name of Lorena (alongside with security) both totally clueless of this matter states, "Well the employee said you was told by another manager that you were banned from the store." I go on to ask, "What employee told you this and what manager did I speak with because I was just in here within this month and I know nothing of this." I also ask what date did this occur and is there a witness or paperwork but no one has informed me of anything.

The next thing you know here comes Rakita. (Now mind you this isn’t in a back office or off to the side. This conversation was brought to me in front of customers on the floor while I’m looking through a rack of clothes.) It is myself, manager, security and all these customers. Rakita goes on to say in customer view and hearing distance I was told by a Demetrius that I was banned from the store (I have never had a conversation with a Demetrius ever and don’t even know what Demetrius looks like by the way). Then Rakita goes on to say I was caught switching tags then I left out, came back in the store, switched tags again and purchased.

At this point I’m pissed. Because THE EMPLOYEE (no intervention from management might I add... Management allowed her to continue with this story in front of customers) accusing me of switching tags twice in 1 day. That made no sense which led me to ask, "If that is the case if I switched tags the first time how was I allowed to purchase over 100 dollars worth of stuff then you guys messed up my bill. I voluntarily bring it to you guys attention and I get a credit. Then go to my car, put my items up, come back and then purchase again?!" That alone made no sense... then she continues still in front of customers at the point TO WHERE NOW customers ARE RECORDING THIS ON THEIR CELLPHONES goes to say I knew I’ve been banned and that is why I had not been in the store for a while. ANOTHER BOLD FACE LIE.

So now I said, "Okay let’s cease all of this and let’s review the tapes." I asked this at least 3 times questioning, "There are tapes correct? Better yet you should have a log book. If I was banned how did I come in the next day and purchase again if I was banned for switching tags. How did all of this occur and there was no police called. I wasn’t escorted out. No anything? How did I come in the very next day and saw you and Takisha and purchase if I was told that I was banned."

Rakita admitted I was in the store and purchased the very next day as well but that apparently was not an indicator that her story didn’t quite add up then to the manager. Now at this point it has escalated. There is back & forth and security said to me I’m making a scene yet you allow your employee to over talk management and do this in public to a customer. Let alone it’s me thats making the scene yet you allow your employee to state verbatim yea she talked quote on quote ** about me and Takisha (employee used profanity mind you) regarding intentionally not giving her items.

I questioned Rakita at that point yet again, "What did I have to say have anything to do with the issue at hand unless the real issue is the reason why you are coming up with this is due to you being mad because I called you out that day and asked your names?!" Rakita goes to throw up her hand??? As **as she wants to be and said anyways and continue talking again with no intervention from management! The security said to me I won’t allow her to talk and no in my opinion why would I. She isn’t management. The employee should not be allowed to say anything to a customer or address a customer about anything nor should it have been allowed to even go that far let alone in public!

Furthermore who is Demetrius. I never spoke to him and where are the witness of this and on what day did he tell me this?! No one had any clue or could or was willing to produce what I had asked for! After this being said another girl comes out someone that was not even around the day I was there not to my knowledge by the name of Kearra vouches for this foolery of a story of Rakita’s stating everyone knows about this. I go on to say if everyone knows then how come this manager is unaware and I am unaware and there is no log or tapes so I proceed to say let’s go ahead and call Demetrius. They eventually call Demetrius.

Lorena speaks with him, asked him did he ban anyone, he apparently doesn’t recall so then Rakita goes "Let me speak to him" and the manager passes her the phone. Rakita proceeds to say "remember that girl" and goes to provide him a description of me (doesn’t know my name or anything), goes into the scenario (still people are recording). This is all done with management there and ends the conversation, "Yes. It’s the girl we were telling you about. Yea her." Moral of the story Demetrius supports the lie and states he told me he banned me after I never had a conversation with him whatsoever. I even requested the credit log to prove I had been in there the very same month.

I was told by Lorena the store doesn’t keep records of the credit logs. Another lie. I also requested corporate's number for Rakita to chime in and say to me verbatim, "Girl stop it!! You aren’t calling corporate," (yet again in public) leading me to say to her, "You don’t know me like that," for her to respond with, "You don’t know me like that!!!" This all occurred in front of management and yet again management had yet to cease her unprofessional behavior. So now my question posed is what kind of establishment are you really running? Is this how you are treating your customers that also makes donations?! (It appears this isn’t the first time for this kind of shenanigans.) It also appears the employees takes things personal when they are called out and takes things in the matter of their own hands.

Lorena nicely provided me corporate's number and names and I left as requested. The amount of HUMILIATION IS INDESCRIBABLE AND TO KNOW THAT ALL OF THIS WAS RECORDED BY CUSTOMERS IS UNACCEPTABLE. Leading me to consult legally for me to also find out not only is Takisha (the first girl) is a manager and it gets better is good friends with Rakita and the girl that vouched Kearra. Not to mention I have also learned how the lie was supported by this regional manager that I had never spoke to by the name of Demetrius. I couldn’t quite understand how did he support this lie of his employee. Well the answer is because they are all very good friends with him as well to where I have a proof of that.

How is this behavior condoned in the workplace and how many people is this done to is now the question? Do the employees have personal issues to the people that they label that acts like a snob because that is what Rakita insinuated when she stated in her argument in front of customers yet again with no intervention by management! VERBATIM per Rakita, "I walk around the store like I run the place since people flirt with me." I take that as personal vendetta by this one particular young lady and I say that for numerous reasonings.

Is it because I’m ** and she feels I think I’m better than by her smart aleck remarks that she was nervy enough to mention in my face. Esp when I know for a fact that there was a person stealing yet they were not banned but I’m falsely accused by a clique of friends (heck it was so bad I had to question do they know me outside of the establishment) more than once in a day of tag switching, no viable proof, allowed to purchase both times given a credit and came back another day purchased yet again but was lied on that I was banned.

Then to make matters worse your employee stated I was informed of being banned. Nothing of that occurred! IS THIS WHAT YOUR ORGANIZATION SUPPORTS?! I’m am outraged and utterly humiliated. Not only am I twice their senior in age and could care less about who they think thinks I’m attractive or flirts as the employee felt the need to bring to attention which is irrelevant and childish! I work in the political public eye thats starters and this was recorded by customers. I also own an successful business in the Chicago land area and something of this caliber can tarnish my name due to false accusations. THIS HAS TO CEASE!

I can just imagine whom else they have done this too. Some of your employees in that store not all need better customer service training and their attitudes is horrible and **. The last thing I need to do is switch a damn tag. That’s the last thing I need to do and my question I pose now is with what because I came in there with not a damn thing just myself and my wallet!!! The behavior from the employee was quite unprofessional and uncouth and is a disappointment for the organization representation. Unbelievable and a disgrace!!! It was embarrassing and this nonsense has to stop! I have attached the initial receipt I took a picture the day of and you can see behind it they gave me a 10 credit slip. I no longer have that. They took it for their records when I purchased the next day.

It was the ONLY day available!!! I followed the directions and left my items outside in the driveway with a sign that said SA. At 5pm, I came home from work to find it had just started raining and my items still sitting outside. The truck pulled up a few minutes afterward and one guy got out and said it was wet, they couldn’t take it. He went back to the truck and they started leaving! I’m sure he just wanted to get home, it was 5:10 on a Friday night! Terrible service. My phone rang and it was the Salvation Army pickup office and the lady repeated that they won’t take wet items and, this is what really gets me, she said, “in addition, there was no one home and no sign left on your items marked for Salvation Army”.

I responded with, “Oh, really? It’s after 5pm, you should’ve been here earlier, before it rained and by the way, There is a sign on my items and I’m home, watching your truck leave right now.” Click, she hung up. I don’t see how wet patio furniture or a grill would be a problem. I am now so frustrated after I could’ve put it outside weeks ago for a free pick up but I tried to be nice and donate it to a good cause. I won’t do that again. How can you plan the weather or being home when they give you 1 day they can pick up? And they don’t tell you what time they’re coming! What a joke. I lined up a donation pickup online on 9/11/17. It stated that the items were in a garage, they were the only items in the garage and we would leave the door open with a sign that said "SA" on it. 11 days later they called me to state that they need someone 18 or older there because they couldn't set foot in the garage. I told them with only 4 days notice I didn't' know if I could find someone. They stated they'd put my pickup "on hold" and to call back when I found someone.

I called back two days later, was on hold 27 minutes and finally hung up. Called back Monday morning and Alonzo told me that my order was still in the system and to hold and he'd call Dispatch to make sure we could get it back on the schedule for Tuesday. He came back and confirmed they could and someone would be there between 7:30 and 3:00. I gave him a new contact number for the person who was taking off of work to meet them. I later looked online and confirmed my pickup was not scheduled.

Tuesday morning SA calls the number that I give them and hangs up. We call back and they state our pickup had been canceled. I called them back to ask why and they were very rude and stated I had canceled it the week before, which I had not, I had put it on hold. Then I talked to the same person again after being on hold 20 minutes (Alonzo) and he said that there was a mistake no one could come until Thursday. I explained that wouldn't work. We had a demolition crew coming Wed to tear down the garage that this stuff was in and it had to go today. I had lined up the crew, the dumpster and the person to meet them there Tuesday AFTER I talked to him on Monday. He was very unsympathetic and said there was nothing he could do.

I asked to talk to his supervisor. They put me over to dispatch and this man was very short with me and wouldn't let me explain my story and how this was their mistake, not mine and that I was in a bind because I needed to get this done to get my mom's house on the market who had passed away. He told me to drag the stuff outside. I told him it was going to rain and it would be in the way of the demolition crew. He got short with me and said "Home Depot sells tarps, I am sure you can go buy some!" I got mad at that point and told him that this was their mistake and they should send a truck out today, like they had promised. He said my town wasn't even part of their area anymore.

I stated the website said it was and he said "Oh well... That's a national site... We're local, it's a recent change." Then he told me that I was the problem, not him because I wouldn't agree to Thursday's pickup. I hung up at that point. I then arranged to haul the 3 truckloads of stuff to my local thrift shop and I vowed to NEVER use Salvation Army again!

The lady, who had already ignored us waiting in line until told by a supervisor to help us, informed me she didn't like how I signed the back of my card and that my signature didn't match my name of the card. She claimed it didn't match, because she couldn't read it. I had gone to this SA for 4 years and have NEVER had this checked. She argued with me that my card wasn't right and I got a no to "what, do you want my license?" and "should I sign my name in front of you to prove it?" and two minutes later, she demands my ID. She claimed it was store policy to check but I've never had this issue.

My card is signed, which I get is allowed to be checked, but she had no right to nearly refuse me because SHE didn't like how I wrote my name. She was insanely rude, telling me I was in the wrong for being flustered, and if this is the quality of employee SA is hiring, I want none of it. The agent who called me sounded extremely annoyed about the call. Not sure why when she was the one that called me. If you're going to call someone uninterested do not even bother in calling. At least fake the funk for the time being as we are Donors giving to people in need! Not calling and harassing you about an item that had been purchased! That one incident. I had then called back to cancel the pick up as all the item are indeed used. When calling the first agent did not allow me to finished my statement in why I was calling. Immediately said: "Let me transfer you to that department". When transfer the final agent to assist was also rude.

When asked the reason for my call I had explained. She then stood quietly not sure why until I asked if there something else she would need to locate the account or any additional information. She then went in rudely asking me for my telephone. When providing this information she rudely asked to repeat it. She processed on cancelling the scheduled pick- up rudely telling me is done cancelled and then just hung up. Is unbelievable how 3 different agents in one day can be rude when calling you or when you are calling for assistance. Why would you as a business call someone rudely that's just insane. WHY BE RUDE TO THE DONORS. (If you are not happy with the position or job you are in please search for something new!) As we the customer should not tolerate this!

Two weeks ago I set up an appointment to have some furniture donated. This morning I go online and it says ETA 2:45. Okay, no problem, this gives me time to get some errands done in the morning. I come back at 12:30, thinking they will be here around that time. Two thirty comes, 2:45, 3:00, 3:15, no truck. I log into my account it says canceled. WHAT?!?! I call them and ask why. A "manager" said they came earlier and they left something on my doorknob saying they were there and they canceled because I wasn't home. There was nothing on my door. Why wasn't I contacted about them coming early??? Then they try to see if the driver went to the wrong house, and ask if I have a green door. My door is red!

I'm put on hold and a few minutes the idiot manager says I made the mistake of not saying what color my front door was. I said, "Are your drivers colorblind?" What the hell difference does it make what color my door is? Drivers are supposed to know how to read house numbers and street signs!!! Idiot then says that he's looking at the pic of my house and I have a "really big house". I live in a 2 bedroom condo!!! Finally he tells me that we can reschedule. I asked him if his company can get the job done correctly, and he said yes. I told him it needed to be ASAP, because I'm moving. He told me the soonest he could get it done was in 3 weeks!!! I told him to go ** himself!!! Anything to avoid taking responsibility! I just can't!

I was shocked!! While shopping I wanted to try some clothes on before purchasing them. The attendant on duty unlocked the door and told me I can take 3 items in. I noticed empty hangers in the room and asked her "Do you want these (laughing)?” Just so I don’t get blamed for them (haha). She replied "oh yes” and said "besides we know who does it.” I said “you do???” “Oh ya we got the camera” she says (and pointed up). I looked up as I walked in turned and asked “CAN IT SEE ME?” “Oh no” she says. So I shut the door and stood there staring up at this 360° camera that’s right in view with the entire fitting room that has no ceiling.. IF I CAN SEE IT THEN IT CAN SEE ME!! Bothered by this I took a picture of camera from inside fitting room and walked out not making a purchase. Not able to stop thinking of this for 2 days I decided to Facebook my story asking what my friends thought on it.

Everyone was shocked as I was. I sent a Facebook message to that thrift store’s FB page but got no reply. So the next day I called a listed # for local office. Asked to speak to person in charge of overseeing thrift stores in MODESTO, CA. I was transferred to a nice man who took my concern seriously and told me he would contact the headquarter’s office in S.F. for that location and would call me back by 4pm that day then he thanked me for bringing it to his attention. I said “Thank you. I just think this is wrong especially if children are involved and I think the camera should be moved.”

He agreed. 4pm came and went. Then days went by and still no call from anyone. I think this could be a lawsuit waiting to happen I don’t know but want to let people know “LOOK UP. THEY HAVE A CAMERA WATCHING YOU UNDRESS. IF YOU CAN PLAINLY SEE THE CAMERA IT CAN SEE YOU!!!” I’m very disappointed as I like bargain hunting at this store. Sadly this experience along with my concern being ignored has change my outlook along with a lot of my Facebook followers. BUSINESS WILL BE LOST FROM HERE ON OUT. I will be contacting MPD to file report next.

She had no idea what she was pulling out as she was just reaching in for her phone. She is quite upset about what was in her couch and is afraid to look to see what else could be in there. She doesn't know who to contact on this matter. If they are cleaned and sanitized like it says, why did this happen? She had to sign for it when she picked it up so they do have a copy of it. She has her copy. Any advice will be deeply appreciated.

Last week I was in Salvation Army and I commented to the cashier, "Who prices this Stuff? The prices are ridiculous." Boots that were used for $69.00 that were almost new. She said another employee priced them but she was on vacation. She goaded me to get her when she got back. She also agreed the prices were too high. Yesterday I was in the Rome, GA SA and the employee was back from vacation. She didn't speak to me either because she had customers or wanted the store to clear out. After the store mostly cleared out she said the other employee had told her that I was getting loud about the prices and was going to say something to her.

This employee started saying that those boots were Rockport and I'm like, "Yeah but they are used." I said I could buy them cheaper on eBay for a new pair because the completed auctions had them between $30&$100 for new ones. She let me know that if customers thought it was cheaper at Goodwill or eBay and then that's where they should shop and besides she didn't make the prices the manager does and I shouldn't complain to the cashiers that I should say something to him. He was out to lunch. I told her the problem I had with her was that she was defending the high prices and her comment about customers should shop at Goodwill or eBay. I let her know with that attitude the customers would, told her bye. For the most part I like here fine but she rubbed me the wrong way. Besides I have shopped here over 10 years.

Next day, this is where the accusations/abuse happen: I'm in SA and an elderly lady that is very nice cashier was working up front. I told her I had a run in with someone and was the manager in. She said, "Yes he's in the break room." The break room door has a sign employees only but door was half open so I asked if I could talk to him. I told him about the incident the prior day. He didn't really comment on the cashier but went into pricing of how they can price it high or higher and then lower the price. Never apologized for the cashier's rude remarks. Then he said he wanted to talk to me about something that happened last week. I said, "Sure what is it?" He said that I had said something inappropriate to the elderly cashier. I couldn't believe it but I had to ask what I said? He said he really didn't know or didn't remember but it was having sex with the elderly cashier.

I'm in disbelief and said I know I didn't say anything like that. He said going forward he would say something to me then. I've known this cashier for better than 10 years so before I left I asked her, "Did I say anything inappropriate to you last week?" She said she didn't hear me but a new cashier, same one that was goading me to get the rude cashier that was on vacation about the high prices had told the manager that I had said something about sex with the elderly cashier. So here's 2 against one and I'm thinking what is going on. I went home shaking and feeling beat up.

A few hours later it came to me what was said, my mind wouldn't let it go. This new cashier asked where I lived at the prior day and I didn't reply. She was asking again. Honestly, that made me uncomfortable and maybe the reason I replied the way I did. I said, "I can't tell you that." She (elderly cashier) might show up on my doorstep/sleep on the doorstep, so then I'd have to let her in and I only have one bed and she'd probably refuse to sleep on the couch. The elderly cashier and I have always had a humorous friendship. I didn't think anything of it at the time. I never thought it would get twisted to sex.

I called SA again because I wanted to set the record straight and clear my name. I was in my car at the time and we got disconnected. I called back and the manager was with a group of people I was told. Someone in the office took my name and number and said she would have the manager call me. Since I was out running errands I go by SA to let my elderly friend cashier know I remember what was said. She said she didn't know because she didn't hear the comments anyway.

I felt relieved that I had figured it out and the elderly cashier and I are fine. So I decided to look for some slacks, the reason I went in earlier that morning. While looking through the slacks I heard the rude cashier talking to someone in the break room. Door was open. She said, "You know that guy that comes in here?" She continues, "Well the manager had a talk with him today because he said some vulgar things to the senior cashier and that's why he complained on me." Once again, I was in disbelief! I went to the door entrance and told her that wasn't right and that's not what happened. She was surprised that I overheard her. She said, "You complained on me," and I said "Yes I did."

Just when you don't think it will get worse... A few minutes a ** male asked her if she was ok? Guess she lowered her voice but I heard his reply of, "Do you want me to slap him." The heavy-set rude cashier came out of the break room stopped and looked at me, not in a mean way like she wanted to say something. So I said, "Look, we've known each other a long time and this is getting blown out of proportion." She agreed and said something like that's par for this place. I've always got along with her until the other day. I said we have always got along and what she was told and repeating wasn't truth and it has me upset and I told here what had been said and it had nothing to do with sex. She said she was sorry but that's what she was told by the manager.

I don't think a manager should have told an hourly employee specifically who the complaint came from but more bothersome is his lack of professionalism to tell her that I had only complained on her because he sat me down because I had said inappropriate vulgar things to the senior cashier. Unacceptable treatment. I didn't get a return call from the manager today. I wanted this to be a short message but I wanted to make sure it was complete.

I was in the Salvation Army Thrift Store in San Bruno last week. I went to the one in South San Francisco first as I was looking for a couple pieces of furniture. I was so appalled at the high prices, I left. I saw a glass, Pyrex loaf pan and it was listed for $12.99! I can get it cheaper at Target or Kmart. Even with 50% I wouldn't have purchased it. I looked at an old CD player and it was listed at $25.00. I found one on Amazon, brand new for that price. They used to be my go-to store for fun shopping and kids clothes. Not anymore.

I went into the San Bruno store and browsed. I found some canning jars that I needed. There were two jars, taped together with a price of $2.99 and they were 50% off, which is great. Then there were the same jars, in singles with no tags. I asked how much they were and the lady said she couldn't sell them to me because they had no tags on them. I said, "Can't you give me the same price as the ones with the tags?" She said no, because they were originally a part of a box set and she's not allowed to sell anything without tags. I asked again because I couldn't fathom that she wouldn't sell me four jam jars. She said, "I'll sell them to you for $3.99 each."

I walked away and then came back to her and said, "I don't meant to be rude, but this makes no sense. I have two jars here marked $2.99 and you're telling me you won't give me the same price on these other jars because they're not marked? Why don't you just mark them and sell them to me?" She said people were doing that "today." I asked to see the manager and she said she was the manager. I can't believe they would lose a sale of jam jars because of no tag. That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. I also told her that they sell for less at Target. They go for about $1.50 per jar if you buy them separately. Ridiculous. Won't go there any longer. She was so rude and unhelpful. I just couldn't believe it.

Being a person of colour and having grown up being likened to and called these names I found this very culturally insensitive. I also feel as a nationally recognised organisation that works with disadvantaged and marginalised people, this surely goes against respecting all races.

Hamilton East is a culturally diverse community with many people of colour using this shop. This book display reflects an insensitivity by the organisation to some of its users. I would like to see these books removed and not displayed. I would also like to hear that the staff (who I am sure were well meaning and possibly unaware of the offence) be given the reason for the removal and provided with guidance around displaying culturally sensitive material. I thought I was doing a good thing trying to donate furniture and clothes to the Salvation Army. Instead I learned never to deal with them again and highly recommend everyone avoid using them. I called and arranged for this pickup and was asked to email pictures of the furniture which I did. They contacted me and said that everything was acceptable and we confirmed a delivery date. They were supposed to pick up my items on 2/27/17. Never showed up and never called. On Tuesday 2/28/17 I contact them and am told they will pick up on 3/1/17. At 11:15 a.m. I receive a call saying they are 3 stops away so I leave my office and wait for them. After 1.5 hours of waiting I called them and asked for an update and am told they are a few miles away. Another 15 minutes go by and they arrive.

The driver looks at everything and says everything looks good. He and his helper load up the clothing bags and walk back to the furniture and the driver says "Oh I can't take this, it is worn"? I said "Yes it is a used loveseat?" He said "Yes we don't take worn furniture, it has to be perfect?" What? He then walks over and looks at the chair again and says he can't take that either? I call their office and tell them they approved this furniture for pickup and am then told it is at the discretion of the driver. Had I known the hassle associated with trying to do a good thing with this agency I would never have contacted them. What a complete waste of time. I could have given this away on Craigslist and been done with it. Rest assured lesson learned and will avoid SA in the future.

Due to a kitchen remodel, a couple of years ago, we donated kitchen appliances that were in like-new condition; all worked and I made sure that they were all spotless. When they came to our home to pick them up the men said they couldn't come into our home, due to insurance reasons. What? Too weird... My husband and I ended up loading them onto our own hand trucks, wheeling them out to their truck and placing them on the truck lift.

I have very nice pieces of furniture along with several other useful items I have scheduled for pick-up from our storage facility. The first cancellation was due to Weather conditions. Apparently, here in WA where it snows every winter is a problem for trucks, but not most cars. Anyway, it was re-scheduled for two weeks later. Today's the date, but a man called to say there is something wrong with the pick-up location; it doesn't match my address. I said that's because the items are being picked up at a storage facility, not my address. This was all outlined on the form that was prepared online. He says, "Well, the truck that going out today is not going to that area; it's a different zip code".

I let him know that although it's a different zip code, the facility is very close to my home address because I live right next to the town (within walking distance) where the facility is. He tells me it can be picked up there in a few days. I say, ok and then ask him why this wasn't the apparent big problem when dispatch told me it was being re-scheduled due to a truck being stuck in snow? He rudely says I don't have to donate to SA if I don't want to. I tell him I don't appreciate his attitude and expect them to pick up the items in a few days. I guess SA has too many people donating and can afford to pass on very good merchandise, not anything that should go to the dumps instead. And, apparently, they do not keep records of prior donations. I have donated to SA for years, and have also placed cash in their kettles during the holidays. If they don't show up or if I get another person speaking to me they way this employee has, ALL donations will cease.

Got a pickup for 7/1/16, only to be told (after NUMEROUS follow-ups on MY part) no one is coming because all the drivers called out sick! Rescheduled several times until 1/3/17, only to be told the truck broke down! 8 boxes of Media sitting in my home to donate, only for this! I'm not even doing this for a tax write-off!

It's VERY clear that certain 'hoods' get shafted by the SA, because they're thought of as 'unimportant'. They may want to look into the racist inclinations of the reasoning of their 'pickups'. I'm beginning to sense something... Regardless, for a company that is religious based, why do they have me screaming, "Bloody Hell" in regards to their professionalism?! I KNOW for a fact customers constantly steal their Media oriented material in their stores, but I thought my items would still help their cause. I used to love the store but not now. The Asian assistant manager is a long time employee with Salvation Army and plays all kind of games for her own interests. The bottom line is she should not force me to play the game with her. When I did not go along with her, she turned around gave me hard time, even harassed me and humiliated me. Salvation Army management did not discuss the problem with me, the meeting to discuss the problem never becomes true. I received a letter that management asked employees to give client senior discount after regular discount and ignored the fact that she violated rule and regulation in employee hand book.

Mission Values of The Salvation Army Our Vision - The Salvation Army - a growing, loving community of people dynamically living God's mission in a broken world. Please see Salvation claimed: Our Mission - The Salvation Army raised up by God for the work of: Transforming Lives; Caring for People; Making Disciples; Reforming Society; Our Values - Recognizing that God is always at work in the world we value: Human Dignity; Justice; Hope.

Please see what Salvation Army did. May 29, 2015: On May 26, 2015 the Asian Assistant Manager repeated that no senior discount after 50% off of blue tag according to store policy. She did not bother to check the policy, she did not bother to ask other employees about the policy, and she did not bother to show me the policy at all when I asked her to show me many times. Why all other employees know store policy except her??? What kind of assistant manager she is???

I did not fight with her after she refused to give me senior discount. I left the counter and did not purchase the item. It was her came to me while I was talking with my friend in other side of store.

She did not show me the policy and she did not let me talk to higher position person. She had nothing else to do but harassing me for a long time. I finally told her to leave me alone to stop her. Is this a correct way for an assistant manager to treat a customer like this??? She then complained about me to other customers to humiliate me. This is a serious harassment. Other customers may think I am a crazy woman according to her words. Is this a professional way to treat a customer like this???

Friday, May 29, 2015 2:20 PM. She said "hi" only to certain customers that she liked. She treated customers differently. For example if there was no tag she would tell me or my friend that she would charge full price. One day a customer in front of me was checking out. Some stuff did not have tags. She let him pay half price of similar items that he got. One time she charged me the yarn double price because it was a little bigger. Few days later I saw same size yarn marked half of the price I paid. I did not argue with her. Another time she told a customer in front of me that she could not sell him the book like before. She did not explain why, but asked the customer to the other side and whispered to him. Why she could not talk to him in front of everybody so we all understand the rule?

She did not allow me to use refund. She said next time. Then next time she still did not allow me to use. So I asked her when I could use. She finally let me use. Why she gave me hard time??? She always told me to deliver massages for her to other employees, or told me to close the door. I did what she said, yet she was still mean to me. No other employees told me to do this or that like her. One day she was arranging clothes and I was passing by. She refused to move her skinny body a little bit so I could go through. Instead she told me to walk around from other side. I did what she said and did not argue with her. She was not friendly to other employees. She always told them "you have to" without "the reason why".

She had nothing better to do till I told her to leave me alone. The price of the item sometime was according to what she said. She could lower it or double it. It was according to her relationship with customer. She was not doing the right job and she was not a qualified worker. CC. I went to the store on Oct. 13, 2015. I was sexually harassed by an old widow. I was hiding on second floor and some customers went to Linda for help and she did not care at all. She said that same thing happened a week ago and even worse. Georgia was not in at that time. Finally the guy David went to talk to the widow and told him do not come back. He also offered me to walk to my car. What kind of assistant manager Linda was besides harass me?

Please see attached letter from Salvation Army. Management has no intention to solve the problem. Management did not read my complaint. Management did not even know what the problems are. The problem is Asian assistant manager not the store or other staff. The problem is she violated rules and regulations not all staff do not know store policy and procedure. In fact all other staff knew after 50% off senior gets another 30% off on Tuesday. Christina ** also has problem herself to understand and solve this problem. Somebody should do something right to solve the problem.

November 24, 2015 9:12 PM. I am so surprised to read your letter dated Nov. 16, 2015 from management. I believed you never read my email dated Nov. 10, 2015. I complained about Asian assistant manager. Your response was about Alhambra store. I did not complain about any other people or any other things of the store. I brought up Asian assistant manager violated rules and regulations. Your response was making all staff understand stores policy and procedures. Looks like your staff do not have training before working in the store; especially Asian assistant manager, she is working there over ten years. You have no respect on customer. Asian assistant manager could violate rules and regulations and do not take any responsibility with your protection. I said that I did not agree, now you said again. No wonder she told me recently that give up fighting for justice against her.

Oct. 13, 2015. I was sexually harassed by an old guy in your store. Customer reported to Asian assistant manager. She did nothing. December 02, 2015. There is a new complaint against Asian assistant manager. When I bought furniture, she told me that staff cannot help client to move. She wanted to call her friend to help me move and I have to pay her friend. December 10, 2015. What is your policy when your employee Linda violated rules and regulations again and again??? December 17, 2015. Asian assistant manager was selling spring rolls in Salvation Army for her friends on Chinese New Year. Is it allowable? She also called her friend to move furniture for clients. If you did not use her friend, buy her stuff you got the treatment like me. Is it allowable? She always persuaded clients to buy certain items. If you did not buy, you are in trouble. Looking forward to hearing from you.

April 13, 2016 12:56 PM. Area manager told me to have a meeting with assistant manager, however later on there was no meeting and all my phone calls and email was totally ignored. April 12, 2016. I met area manager in Alhambra store while he was training the staff. Later on I asked him about my complaint. He said it was happened last year. Just because he ignored me over a year my complaint was over? July 06, 2016 1:05 PM. I went to Alhambra Store yesterday. July 5, 2016. I could not find other staff and I could not wait, I have to check out with LINDA. She said to me that she did not treat me bad and she wanted me to forget what she did.

I asked her that: Why she did not give me senior discount after the regular discount but other staff did and why she complained about me to other clients. She said other staff did not understand rules; she did not respond about why she complained about me to other clients. Why she did not sell me an item without price tag but sold to other clients. She said that items without price tag is final sale. However to me she just told me that she could not sell the item without price tag and kept the item. Why she told me that store staff could not move furniture for me and wanted me to call and pay the guy she referred me, but she asked store staff to move furniture for other clients. She could not respond. Why I did everything she asked such as closed store door, find staff for her many times, but she could not move her body a little bit and let me pass. I understand this is second hand store, I am second hand client, and management is second hand too.

I have found the Salvation Army stores here in Ma. are very high priced for their used items. I have picked up items seeking to purchase to have my mouth drop open in shock at the asking price. To then turn it over, and discover the actual store tag still adhered to item and its original price was lower!? The prices for these donated used items are outrageous and is consistent throughout all their stores in Ma. which tells me that the employees are being truthful when they say they do not make these prices and they are coming from higher up. This goes on to tell me that the upper management and owners are only trying to make enough profit to justify their big bonuses!? They have little regard for people and families financially struggling these days and it is reflective in their pricing.

Their stores are dusty and dirty and I understand, to an extent, that it would be hard to keep very clean with all the used and donated items, however, they do not consider this when pricing. It is like they have the best of both worlds charging high end prices, yet, not worrying about their consumers and providing them with clean friendly inviting stores. I will not shop at this store anymore or donate. It repulses me think about how the owners are making money from people's generosity and caring. Though, they will say they make no money and fund community-based programs I've yet to see a program that benefits from them!?

I will, also, state that they treat their employees with no honor or respect and pay only what the law requires them to. They work them long and hard and they are subjected to personal belongings searches and they do not even give them any discount on purchases they might make!? So, if the employees are irritable and unfriendly it is probably because they are being overworked and getting no recognition of all their hard work being done within this company. These workers are just trying to make ends meet and have a job in this struggling economy. I have nothing good to say about this company and I wish they would hear our concerns!

I bought a section couch for $150.00 from the Lancaster PA SA. The person who was going to pick it up for me was a no show and I had no one else to help me. The store extended my time for p/u but still I had no way to move it. When I went back to the store the manager told me no refunds and I had 2 extra days to move it. I am not able to rent a truck or hire a mover because I'm on disability and so is my son. So now I have no couch and the SA just stole 150.00 from me and my children for merchandise we never received. Is this practice even legal? The sofa is still in their store and they said they'll put it back out on the floor if I don't come pick it up.

Quite frankly, they can keep their couch. Just give me my money back. I think I'll call a lawyer. Nowhere on my receipt or paperwork does it state "no refunds/returns/exchanges". This is the only business I have EVER been to that has had the audacity to claim to seek out the needy and help them and they spit in their face with contempt. I will never donate or shop at the SA again. I will tell my family and friends and we will donate our time, money, goods, and services to operations that truly do give to the poor and needy... of which I am one. God bless those who truly care about their fellow man in need and rise to meet the challenge.

I frequented my salvation army for the past 15 years and it's downgraded over the years. They pretty much kept the "faithful" workers there all of this time and only hire people who's doing community service every now and then. It consists of women workers who have the worse attitudes ever! They don't speak unless you got out of your way to speak to them and they’re constantly stealing for themselves and friends and family members or giving them super low discounts. The prices are extremely high and when you try to negotiate with them even for a dollar less than the price given, they will fight you on it. This is donated stuff geesh!

I will never donate to Goodwill or Salvation Army again. They never help the community or individuals. They may as well be retail stores now which they basically are. They literally mock the poor and give them little to no help. I would suggest everyone to stop going into these greedy selfish stores and see how much they will change and fall shortly after. It's the community fault for keeping these places alive.

Also the items for sale have been higher price than the same items purchased new at Sirens, Dollar Store, Jysk and more.

Why are we charging the people that need help and don't know that the prices on some items are more or the same as new items because they think going USED is cheaper!! We need to put a stop on this!! A used Towel for 6.99 when Army & Navy had the same for 5.99!!! A flat sheet 7.99 a fitted for 7.99 and pillow case for 4.99 SO THIS SET IS 21.00 including tax. You can find a good deal for 29.99 New!! These items should be sold at a reasonable amount. A blanket for 24.09!!! Let's get reasonable here!!

(0-star) The Salvation Army will never receive another donation in kind or monetary from me again. For the second time in 6 years, they've refused to accept donations from me because: 1) some 6 years ago, a the barely used 3 year old kitchen gas stove was dirty. The stove had been stored in the basement of another property I owned. The stove, used for a year, cost almost $900 and NO damage or issues. Dust from storage was its only fault. 2) Today, they refused to take a bedroom set of dresser & chest because it had minor discoloration on top... Well, it's has become quite obvious that this organization is ungrateful and "cherry picks" their donations. For this reason I will find a local organization to give my items to. The Salvation Army has gotten too big and fat off its free slave laborers and the generosity of the American public. We hardly give notice to how this "charity" is ran or operated.

However, the more you look behind the public veil, the more I realized that I would rather donate to a local organization with community ties and responsibilities. Sometimes we must accept the ugly truth and move on. Yes the Salvation Army help many people thru their organizations. That help comes with a price, the mandate any outside income of those they house, be donated to SA; workers receive pennies for their hourly wage; that, senior "officers" in the SA receive generous salaries and benefits; the bottom line is, should we ignore the major shortcomings and faults of the SA based on their charity work; I why does the SA only offer for sale the quality items in non-minority communities. It's well known that high end items and clothing never see lower and middle class communities.

Frankly, there are too many other organizations that can and should benefit from most of the items the SA feel is "not good enough." So, rather that offering these items to the SA, I will give them, as well as my money, to community based charities that demonstrate a greater & more direct benefit to my community and the people who live here. It may cause me some inconvenience, but I will feel better knowing that my gift went to a better place.

The answer is the Slaton army and I can tell you that are not doing the midst good!! With these high prices, I will not donate to them. I donate to the haven of mercy because you can see and know they feed homeless people b shelter longer than 3 days!

Did you know The Salvation Army only lets people stay at their shelter for 3 days? And they don't give furniture to the needy!! Only if you're a burnout victim not if you're poor and your kids need a bed to sleep in because they have to sleep in the floor!! So who's getting rich selling their donated items to low income or middle class workers? Figure it out. They were the same when I was growing up. My mom complained about them years ago. The prices are becoming OUTRAGEOUS!!! I rarely shopped there before because I thought the prices were getting ridiculous but I recently went in there to get a "used" winter coat and didn't see anything under $20. Some were in poor condition and smelled. They sell worn out looking items such as sneakers for $10 that have horrible odors. Worn out boots with scuff marks they want $30. Used fans full of dust and covered in scratches they wanted $30 when that is what they cost brand new in a department store. Used furniture is ridiculous and so expensive you're better off finding something on Kijiji! They even try to sell empty boxes on the shelves that used to have soaps or makeup in them for $5! They just don't care!

When the employees are confronted about their prices and where do they get off trying to dupe the public they say they don't make the prices - it comes from head office. Either way whoever is making these prices they are ridiculous! They will sell broken, beat up, scratched, scuffed, smelly, dirty things for crazy unaffordable prices! They are supposed to be non-profit but I think that is a big load of crap!!! They are not helping the community. All these things are donated from people. I say stop going there and stop donating to Salvation Army. They are awful! People are complaining and boycotting their store and going to other more affordable thrift stores.

Never again will the Salvation Army get a donation from me. They are the worst and most unprofessional people around. I should have remembered and looked up their history as I called them before and decided not to donate because of the attitude. These are donations. If you want new items go buy them or tell people you really don't want donations you want 1000 dollar item for free that you can sell or take home for your own use.

I explained to them these were antiques, not new off the showroom floor. No wonder they are hurting and have so many complaints. I spent hours getting items ready, cleaning them, making sure they worked, polishing to have some rude, holier than thou driver show up and tell me "Nope." One item was repainted, one which was 160 years old I took a front piece off to keep it from getting damaged, and a table from 1940 that was in good condition no stains zip and solid oak. They refused them. And they did not pick up the other items just left them.

This one staff member Dave I told him there are antiques, what did he expect. And what's with something repainted? I did call back and these are their rules. The store won't sell anything even slightly scratched or used. Dave explained it is the store who sets the rules. Fine so who trains your employees? Bottom line this driver will never come in my home again ever and yes the Chairman of the Board will get a letter. So my recommendation is find somewhere else to donate or take a picture. Send it in but don't expect your item to be accepted or to be treated with any appreciation.

I just had a horrible experience with the Salvation Army workers. I scheduled a pick up for a kitchen set and a dining room set. When the workers arrived, I explained that they could take both sets, however the workers only picked up the kitchen set and began to leave. I called the workers back and told them that they forget the dining room set and the one ** worker rudely replied, "I don't want that stuff". I told him that the set was new and he replied "It looks old to me", then he just walked off. I told the worker that he could have at least told me that he wasn't going to take the dining room set instead of just leaving without saying anything.

I explained to the rude gentleman that I was giving out of the kindness of my heart and that he should tone down his attitude and be more pleasant to people who are trying to do something good. The rude gentleman just replied, "Whatever, you just upset cause I don't want your stuff." I told the gentleman that I can take a 'no' but there is a more proper, respectful and tactful way to say 'no'. I told the gentleman that if he thought the set was garbage then would he just take the table and toss it the dumpster that was right next to his van and he told me, "You need to find someone to do that cause I don't do that".

Now I have experienced horrible treatment before but as someone who was trying to do a good deed, I was expecting better treatment. It reminds me of the old saying, "No good deed goes unpunished". I was so upset and hurt that I was in tears. If anyone wants to give, I implore them to give to an organization that is more appreciative and respectful unless abuse is a desired treatment when attempting to do a good deed.

I was forced to do community service for the Salvation Army. One evening I was scheduled to work from 4-9, which I did, however my doctor has me on Elavil which makes you constantly thirsty and therefore you constantly have to urinate. So I was gone from my post one to two times an hour. The "Army's" narcs said no one was ever there. That was a lie. I was there but I had to pee a lot because I drank a lot of water due to my medicine. Anyway, I was work my next 4-9 shift, I had been working for 3 hours and had to pee. I held it in as long as I could because obviously I know how those liars are. As soon as I got back from the bathroom "colonel Sander's" or whatever his name is (he works at the greenwood Indiana Salvation Army branch) said that I was done and needed to find another place to do my community service.

I was appalled I hadn't even taken one of my fifteen-minute breaks nor a lunch or a bathroom break for three hours, all of which are supposed to be permitted.

So he made me leave, however, he refused to sign off on my paperwork stating that I had worked three hours. When I followed him and tried to get to him to sign the paper he go into a Salvation Army van and another individual drove off with me trying to open the doors. They dragged me down the parking lot and left me laying in the middle of the road, to the astonishment of all onlookers. It's clear the Salvation Army doesn't care about anyone! In addition, they were angry with me when the bucket wasn't as full as they thought it should be. They don't care about charity. They care about money and that's when it became clear to me they were affiliated with church which has been confirmed by this website.

I'm an atheist and want nothing to do with religion and "colonel sander's" boldly lied to my face about the fact that they are associated with religion. In addition, when I signed up with "colonel Sander's" I asked if the Salvation Army was affiliated with any church. He said "no" but according to your website that was clearly a lie. I will never support the Salvation Army in any way, shape, or form again. I absolutely hate them. And you (plural) should too, never support unless you like supporting liars. He kept yelling about people coming into the store running across the street with stolen items. He also stated that I had stolen several items from the store previously. I asked for a manager since he was not listening to anything I was saying.

Another gentleman came out, took my personal shoes back to the person working in shoes and asked if they belonged to the store. She said they did not. I asked them to look back at video footage to prove I came in the store with the shoes on. The second gentleman said it was not necessary and apologized for the misunderstanding.

I think it was inappropriate for the first guy to come behind me yelling in front of customers that I had not paid for an item. I also think it was wrong for him to yell at me about what other people had done and accuse me of stealing in the past. I have never stolen anything and gave donated numerous times over the years. If there is something I cannot afford I ask the sales associate to return the item. I am very upset and am thinking of contacting a lawyer regarding the way I was treated.

We were told to get rid of the bins of good clothing we sold for $3 a bag because it looks bad. All their other "improvements" caused us to lose customers. We struggled to make money for the store. We didn't have a truck and drivers to pick up donations so we had to rely on the other stores to pick up for us. That didn't work well.

They closed the store before the holidays and we were out of work. No unemployment compensation because they don't pay into it. One of my coworkers also lost their home and became homeless. I visited the Salvation Army Family Clothing store in Chula Vista on July 28 to look for a shirt for a job interview. 15 minutes prior to the store closing I was refused the ability to try one shirt due to the store closing in 15 minutes. I asked very kindly to the Manager working to please let me try on the shirt. She refused. It upset me a great deal since this was a shirt I needed for an interview. I left very upset.

But as I made my way around the store I couldn't help but seeing the volunteers at the store doing their job of picking up and arranging the clothes. A woman who was an employee there approached a volunteer and told her "Go picking up all the clothes that you see in the floor." The volunteer then looks at the employee and told her using Spanish words "No hablo ingles..." The worker leaving the presence of the volunteer continued to talk but this time using foul language to express how the volunteer was ignorant for not knowing English. I left very upset from this store.

As an organization that provides services to those in need in our community, you guys are doing a poor job hiring people who are not passionate about representing what you guys stand for. Plus if I may add, I find it ridiculous going into a store and seeing second-hand clothing priced at 15 dollars with no discount at times. I also saw a jacket that was in poor condition priced at 50$! Thrift stores are not here for people who have money. Thrift stores are put to serve our community as a whole. The people in need of jobs, find jobs. The people in need of clothes, find affordable clothes. The money that is needed to help run the various programs the Salvation Army offers are able to get some by the clothing and accessories they sell.

As a customer I demand to be contacted back with a formal apology from the supervisor that was present that day as well as the staff. I was able to get the name of the volunteer that day. She looked so unhappy being mistreated. I believe you guys owe it to her to give her a competition of her hours for the verbal abuse she went through. The look in her face was upsetting.

So... waiting 2 months for the truck from Salvation Army to come pick up my garage full of things left over from my house I just purchased... I got a call from the dispatcher telling me they were at my house. At the time of the call I was at the hospital with my mom 15 minutes away. It took me exactly 14 minutes to get home. When I got home no one was there. After calling back the dispatcher wondering where they are he told me they left after 10 minutes. Even though I told him I was coming home. Absolutely ridiculous and not to mention I had to take the day off of work to be there as it was all in my garage. He was speechless and then he told me I would have to wait another 2 months for them to pick up my stuff again. Screw that I'm not dealing with this again. I'm going to sell the stuff. Where does the money for all these things go anyways?

As a employee of salvation army for over a year I had just recently requested some vacation time and prior to a management turn over I had never had a problem requesting any time off. After checking the schedule for the up and coming week I found that management had put me on for the time I had requested for vacation. I approached the new management about it and she said that that was the first she had heard of my request. I explained that I gave the request form to the assistant manager and she responded that she would speak to her assistant within the next few minutes. Thereafter I was called back to the office and was told that I did not get my request form in on time and proceeded to tell me I could only take off however many hours I had banked which added up to 3 days and I asked for 6. I was told I could not request any more than the 3 days I had banked.

In the past I had never had a problem requesting time off. Shouldn't that choice be up to me since I know I don't get paid for requested time above and beyond my vacation time I have built up? So I asked the manager if I was to take the time for my vacation I had already booked would I be fired? She replied yes! I responded "then you'll be sorry because you're losing a valuable employee." So I quit and they asked me for my name badge, I punched out and left with my head held high.

Most management with salvation army don't care to know the employees, their strong points or how valuable they are. All they care about is their numbers and how much of a bonus they can receive at the end each month. This is only one of my negative experiences while working there and I could actually go on, but I won't. There are many more employees with just as many negative experiences. Just to name a few management has told dock workers they are not allowed to have water on the dock. That should be against the law! I have witnessed managers screaming into the face of employees and also using vulgar language in some circumstances. That's wrong!!! Management at salvation army treats their employees disrespectfully!

Paid employees make it a 501C3 company and they did not take out withholding as should have. I see a class action suit in the offing. Do not donate to them or Goodwill. Same animals honestly...

I have many complaints about the Salvation Army. I went in one day to buy some porcelain dolls and there was one that was broken. The lady wanted to charge me $ eight dollars for that one. I told her "no it was broken and there was no way to repair the doll." I only wanted to purchase it for the eyes out of it as I am a doll maker myself. She would not go down anymore so I left. I went back about five months later just the other day. This time when I went back every doll was broken I ask about them again and she told me $10 a doll again said "no these are broken I only want them for parts eyes and hair." She would not sell them to me unless I pay $10 apiece for broken dolls.

Another time I went in and I heard the manager screaming at another employee by the name of ** saying out loud in front of all the customers "I've done told her to come up here and check the boy out. How many times do I?" Another time I went in and I heard the manager screaming at another employee by the name of ** saying out loud in front of all the customers "I've done called her seven times," and talking to the cashier in front of us being very degrading of whoever this lady named ** was.

Biggest complaint I have right now is the ladies auxiliary. They do not sell the dolls that were donated to them. They keep them for themselves, clean them up, and resell them. I know this for fact as I went to a lady's garage sale and she told me that her mother got all of the dolls because she worked with the ladies auxiliary. She told me that her mother passed away. She was selling all of her dolls. She had all kinds of old dolls that were donated to the Salvation.

I don't see how this could be right when people donate to the Salvation Army it should not be where people that work for the Salvation Army can pick all of the good stuff out and leave the trash for everybody else. If you go to any of the goodwills at Salvation Army's you will not find any good Dolls as they are taken out before they hit the shelves. I know this to be true and factual.

The SA near my home, it is in Howell/Brighton, Michigan and the other SA's in other cities in Michigan that I have patronized, play Christian music and between songs they have sermons similar to the ones you would hear in church. The music is Christian rock and tends to be amateurish, noisy and unpleasant. The volume is high and they play the same songs over and over again. As a customer I feel offended and I have asked for the volume to be lowered. Obviously, I can choose to not shop there but it is where used items are available in this area because the store is huge and the only thrift store in the area. They have a monopoly on used goods. The problem for the employees is that they are forced to listen to this radio station while they are working and they complain endlessly about how unpleasant this is for them.

The employees are abused in other ways which is clear from the way the managers speak to the workers and the grumbling and complaints you can not avoid hearing. This is even more true in other SA stores than in the one in Livingston Count. I go to stores on Route 59 and in Washtenaw County. I am reluctant to get any employees in trouble so I am not mentioning names but I will state that ** is one of the very few who has not complained in my presence.

Hi, my name is ** and I live in Whitehorse, Yukon territories. Today Thursday the 28th of May I went to the Salvation Army Store as I usually do since my daughter loves to look and play with the toys there. While I was waiting for her I mention a couple, that weren't employee, walked right in the back of the store where the donation center is and picked up 3 or 4 awesome sewing machines took them and walked out.

Also I catch the elderly employee which has short hair say that is all they have for now but will save him more!!! I nearly passed out since I am looking for a sewing machine and did not know why there are never anything that is good on the floor. The racks are gemmed with stained clothing, ripped toys, garbage strollers and broken roller that are way overpriced. It used to be a really good store until the new manager come along which looks like is ignoring it or ruined the honest habitat. It is obviously that the people going to shop there cannot afford to buy somewhere else and now is nothing there anymore for them, unless it's a stinky cracked couch that no other stores wants it... Now I know why!

On other occasion I mention another person that has another second hand store in town, went in the back and picking up some really good furniture to of course sell it in her store. SAME PERSON STOLE THE CLOTHING WERE GIVEN DONATION BY MYSELF TO SALVATION ARMY AND THE CHURCH, which 2 days later I seen it in her store. MANY OF THESE WERE MY ITEMS THAT NOBODY HAS IN TOWN. That is unacceptable in a store that is suppose to be honest and not supply all the rich store owner to make money on other people kindness.

I think you should investigate as it went too far and that is why I am contacting. You can even call the store under cover and tell them you are looking to buy all the sewing machines or any other goods that are worth. That is how you catch them. I apply once to work there but nobody called and it is sad that all these mafia people find a job that is suppose to be honest and help people they make a business out of it. I beg you, let's get rid of these, and hire younger nicer and more innocent people. That was the same woman that scream my 3 years old by then to clean the toys that she never touched, just happen to pass by that time but we just got there.

Other employee said she was very rude to people and nobody does anything to her. She is extremely rude to everybody and is well known in the store. I am sure if you call and ask the elderly lady with short white hair that is not very pleasant with the customer, will find out who is it. The fact she sell out of store is well known since she does it in front of everybody. Let's get rid of her and hire nicer pleasant customers that will deal with the store in the immaculate reputation and put the valuable donation on the floors and give the money to the store.

No matter what I said, the dispatcher insisted they could not wait 10 minutes for me to get there, or even 10 seconds for me to get the management office to let them in. He said the estimate of when they'd come was an "estimate" - meaning it meant nothing if they were two hours early. Since it's up to the driver's discretion of what they will take, if they don't take everything, I will now have only two days to arrange for anything they leave to be picked up. If I can't do it, it means I could be charged extra rent for extra days. No one told me that basically I should just wait there all day since there is no real schedule.

When attending a manager meeting, the Director of operations would swear, belittle and humiliate the employees by having them sing I'm a little teapot or Twinkle little star if you were late for the meeting.

The staff is treated with disrespect, you are told to scream and whatever it takes to get the employees to do their jobs. This company should be looked into, just look at the turn over rate for each store, and the company. Ask any employee or former employee, they will all say the same thing. It's a shame they are allowed to act like this. Because I would not do this to the employees, I was transferred to many stores and then let go for not doing my job. The fact is I did what the manager said, but they turned it around. I called my immediate supervisor when the manager was selling merchandise off the back dock. The next day I was written up for a bs reason. I refused to sign the paper due to the lies, this happens a lot there. The cashier who was the acting manager at the time looked really hard at the dishes for a few seconds and said after a long pause..."You know these aren't the sale tags." I was like 'What do you mean?..They are yellow'. So I asked everyone in the line behind me what color was on the dishes....and they ALL said yellow...not tan.

The young woman insisted that these tags were tan/brown and proceeded to explain that their yellow tags are neon in color and this tag was representative of the brown tags... So I went and got some dishes with actual brown tags and showed them to her and the people patiently waiting in line behind me. This was crazy. What she didn't know was that I used to work for the Sal Army and I am aware of the variation in the colors of the tags. We would honor that in our store... What I truly believe, that is she may have wanted them for herself. I was so frustrated, I put everything back that I had in my cart. What she did was dishonest. I didn't visit that store for a long time. However I have started to frequent the store again, but if I see that she is at the register, I don't even shop there that day. Truly Disappointed.

Mistakes in Taxes done by Salvation Army (Peterborough, Ontario, Canada) Two Years In A Row - For the last two years, my common-law wife, her middle daughter, her eldest daughter and her boyfriend, as well as myself, have used this service. And for the last two years, my common-law wife and myself have, due to mistakes on their part in doing our taxes, lost out on money that we rely on to pay bills, buy groceries, medication etc. Both my common-law wife and myself are disabled. And thus, we live on a very fixed income. And are reliant on these monies to get us through so to speak. Not to mention, these monies support and care for two disabled persons other than ourselves. Her middle daughter and my common-law wife's teenage son.

Last year, due to an error in the taxes, we lost out on our Trillium credit as well as our GST credit. This took a few months to sort out. This year, they did not file my taxes at all. And thus my common-law wife lost out on $690.00. Which thank God we will get back later this month and next after I went and paid out of pocket to have my taxes done at H&R block. When this error was noticed near the end of last month, when my common-law wife checked the bank, and found the money that we were expecting was not there. She called Tax Canada, and was informed that my taxes for the year "had not been filed". I called the Salvation Army office here in Peterborough and was offered zero help other than being told "Come in and we will redo your taxes."

After explaining that my family is reliant on this money and without it, we could possibly lose our phone/internet service as well as beds for myself and her son and daughter as they are rent to own (No other choice than to sleep on the floor). Not to mention we would have no money to purchase groceries. As well as informing them that this was the second year in a row that they had made a mistake. The response I got back was a very rude and arrogant version of the original response. By this time being quite annoyed, I told them I would take it up with the head office of the Salvation Army to which I was basically told "Go ahead".

After some online searching, I found the number for the main office and spoke with a lady who told me this should be an easy resolution. As it was obvious someone had made a mistake and that it should not be an issue for them to "cut us a check" but that I had called the wrong office and needed to call the Divisional headquarter. Which she provided the number for. I called and spoke to ** and discussed the problems at length with her. And she advised me that she would speak to the Peterborough office about the issue. And that someone would call me in the next few days about the resolution.

Within an hour of that conversation, I received a call from the Peterborough Office. During this call, I was told that I had been extremely rude to the initial person I had spoken with, that my call had been "listened in on" and that the resolution was the same. That they would offer to redo and refile my taxes and offer us some very basic food help, which from prior experience I know would have been less than a week's worth of food. I informed them this was not satisfactory. And I would again get in touch with **. When I called her back, she was apparently out of the office for the day. The time of the call was before noon so I left a message. To this day, I have received no response.

My common-law wife also suffers from panic attacks, and anxiety issues. And through this whole process had been getting progressively worse, going through fits of crying and near panic about how we would cover bills and pay for groceries if they did not help us. It took me days to get her to calm down and only after we got the help from friends and family did she finally get back to a state of normalcy.

So my only option left is to make this public. In the end, I want it to be known that for an organization that "prides" itself on helping those in low income or worse situations. That due to negligence, and a total lack of willingness to admit their mistake and offer any real help, made a low income family have to scramble to find a means on paying bills and feeding our family. Which thank God we managed, thanks to friends and extended family. And with a fair amount of "Robbing Peter to pay Paul".

I would also like to make it known that a person should feel that if someone is going to offer a free tax service, that it should go without saying that the people doing the taxes should be properly trained and actually know what they are doing. And that someone should be checking to make sure mistakes like this do not happen. As once I can see but two years in a row shows a great deal of incompetence. As after all, they made errors two years in a row, and thanks to that have put out a fixed income family, making it that much more difficult to survive. So please, Salvation Army, if you're truly going to help the poor, the proper resolution here would have been to cut my family a check for the missing money as it was your mistake for a second year in a row.

I was a "Beneficiary" of the Salvation Army and worked for them, payrolled for some time. The workforce is comprised of men that are in the program. It was considered a particular honor to be chosen and consequently employed. The problem, I realized, was that the pool of people promoted to management positions was from within the community of flawed and damaged souls that completed the "Program", which is not much more than three "hot's and a cot" and a task assignment that benefits the organization with a workforce that is inexpensive. The character of the stores in every community is a reflection of the Administrator of that area and his relationship with his compatriots there, as well as his management of the ARC population, the primary workforce. The costs of operating the annual business are offset by cash donations, some quite large (Ray Kroc, founder of the McDonald's restaurant empire and his wife have donated enormous sums), augmented by food stamps and the luxury charitable organizations enjoy from tax.

Overhead costs are eclipsed by what the organization generates annually in sales from its stores alone. On average a store can generate up to $4000.00 a day in sales. Of course some do not reach that metric, but with several stores nationwide contributing to the whole it is an enormous amount of money flowing through the coffers. The cost of infrastructure, warehousing, leasing agreements for stores and facility and fleet maintenance and payroll are huge factors, yet the offset of donations and an inexpensive workforce match these costs and more. The benefits for the 'beneficiaries' in terms of freeing themselves from addictions and the behaviors that result in homelessness? Absolute devotion to Christ, and you shall be set free. That is what is offered. Obedience to a barking mad ideal and you shall be free when you succumb to Christ and "Believe". So much pain over the millennia from this religion. In the name of Christ. Once again carried on by the Salvation Army and its agenda... It's people.

I explained the situation but to no avail since her cold, corporate, insensitive attitude told me I was getting no where fast. I even offered to leave the money on the counter or with her and donating the change to the store. The total purchase was six dollars mind you. I would have given them a ten with no change in return. It seemed she didn't give a damn about the situation of helping someone out, just her corporate master. I asked to see the manager. And she replied "that would be me".

The worst thing to do is put someone cold hearted person in a managerial position. That's what is going to bring them down. Not to mention their way overpriced merchandise which was donated to them for free. And their gimmicky color coded sales in which they take the colors that are suppose to be 5 for 5 dollars on Fridays off the racks. I caught on to that one fast and stopped going. I used to like supporting the salvation army and used to be treated like they appreciated my donations. Now they are little more than a corporate money grabbing machine with no sympathy. An obviously used sweater for 8.99? A lot of people don't need to shop there, but like helping the less fortunate. We obviously care more about them than the Salvation Army.

I had an incident on Wednesday, November 13 at the North Ave., Salvation Army store at 3 PM in the afternoon. I dropped off two boxes of household items in the dropbox location bin. I proceeded to wait 10 minutes for someone to help me so I could get a receipt, The only person I saw who worked for the store was cashier who had a very very long line of people to check out. I went into the store to go looking for a worker to help me get a receipt for my donated goods. I finally went up to a young lady and asked for a receipt. I had to repeat my request several times. I finally just said the word receipt and she understood me and went in the back, through 2 black curtains with a sign that says "employees only " above the curtains.

I waited another 10 to 12 minutes, then I opened a curtain and saw a group of women around a table working with clothes. I had heard loud talking and lots of laughter which is why I peeked through the curtain. The young lady who was helping me saw me and just said, "wait wait wait", so I closed the curtain and continued to wait outside the employee section. The young lady came out with a clipboard and receipt and gave it to me. I filled it out, and then I asked to speak to a manager because I wanted to know why they don't have these receipts in front of the store as they could save a lot of time and effort and it would be very convenient for customers like me who want to drop off goods for the Salvation Army in a timely manner. I waited another 10 minutes and finally a young man came out and I asked him and he told me it was the policy of the organization and he kept repeating that over and over and over again.

Now, I've given to other stores in other parts of Illinois and I've never encountered this policy at all. When I tried to explain that to him and I asked him "Why don't you do it that way?" again a young lady came walking out and said she was the manager and he was one of her managers. Are they all managers? Well, I should have probably spoken to her in the first place but apparently she was too busy. The problem I had with the two very nice people who were trying to help me, after I searched for them, did not speak English very well and the first lady had a hard time understanding it. The young man could understand it better but he couldn't speak it very well and for customer like me that's very frustrating.

The young lady reiterated the policy, but I suggested it would be so much easier for customers to get a receipt but she was insistent. Then I told her that as a customer I should not have to go searching for a worker to help me and then have more trouble because the poor worker can't understand or speak the language well enough to help me in a timely manner. Even though I speak and understand fluent Spanish I will not speak it in the United States and my reasons for that choice are my own and they're very personal. It was at that point with people around that she called me a "racist". I couldn't believe she said that to me. I was appalled because I've never had anyone in my life call me that or speak to me like that. I am Hispanic and my father was the first Hispanic police officer in the city of Chicago. I have been spat on, I have been smacked around and I have been called terrible names because of my ethnicity, I remember that all too well.

This remark really hurt, but then I got angry and I told her she doesn't even understand what the word means to use it like she was using it. She put up her hands and she said she had nothing more to say, tell me to leave her store. She did not apologize are all of the time I had to wait just to get a receipt. She did not thank me for giving them household items. She didn't try talk to me. She dismissed me. She did not want to be bothered with what I had to say. She took this entire incident personally. I believe she believed I was attacking her personnel. I was doing neither of those things. I was trying to give her some advice. I was trying to help out a little and she called me a racist in front of a lot of people. I don't appreciate that, I don't like that, and then she said a few other choice words to me.

I answered her back and then I proceeded to leave because she said she was calling the police. I have never encountered a situation like this in my life. I cannot believe someone so immature can be in charge of the store? And I've noticed that the only people employed here are Hispanics. Where are the African-Americans, where are the white people, where are the Asians, where are the other diverse people that should be part of this store? I don't see them. Do you think there's any racism in that?

Yes, sometimes the prices seem over high, and yes sometimes the staff may be unfriendly or even unqualified. In the end though, I happen to know the truth, unlike some. I spent many years asking people about what the money goes to. I have always wondered. Do they go to their churches? Only in a few small cases. Do they go to other non-profit groups? No. Are they given to an unnamed big corporation whom just uses the Sally name? ABSOLUTELY NOT.

The money at least for the South Eastern Michigan stores are concerned for anyone truly interested in knowing, goes to centers for Adult Rehabilitation. Centers designed to help men and women with alcohol addiction and dependence break free of that chain. They house a few hundred people altogether, and the money made by the stores goes to keeping these facilities open to give people a "free" rehab program. So I do not mind the costs that much knowing that the money is not going into a giant bank to be hoarded.

Also, the stores hire all their employees. The "free labor from the court system" is totally untrue. Yes they have community service people. But these people can come and go as they please, are not scheduled, and only have to do a minimum of 2 hours in order to get credit for a day and can work as many as they want in a day. The guys in the back taking donations, are part of the "work therapy" of the Centers, giving them hands on work, and making it so that upon completion, since they had a "job" other places would be more willing to hire them.

I could actually talk about every other complain brought on here, but I wanted to set the record straight about MY area. Housing nearly 400 people, plus giving them electricity, food, stipends for other things they may want to buy, not to mention keeping fuel in the trucks to take care of all the hauling? And just to keep the lights on in the stores? I would like to see how that all works out, but I am very sure it is nothing sinister. And this whole no one talks about the company for fear of firing? How did I get all of mine? Some from the workers, some from the facilities' website, some from talking to the Administrators. You know why you don't see special news reports? Because those places already know about what the stores sales fund.

The policy at the West Lebanon store is no refunds; no problem with that. They do not, however, thoroughly test the electronics they sell. They charge top dollar for TVs, VCRs and DVD players. They leave it to the customer to do what they should be doing. Price should be an accurate reflection of the saleability of the item. As a result, there is a glut of tube type televisions that aren't moving. No one is going to pay almost one hundred dollars for a used television. The management of this store leaves much to be desired. People generally shop at thrift stores because they can't afford to shop anywhere else. The term Salvation Army is a reflection of a spiritual ideal. Scamming the poor does not come under that heading.

At Steinway St store are few women that will try every time to put me in uncomfortable position, accusing me of switching the price tags. I have had couple of verbal fight over this matter and it makes me believe that my pale skin and blonde hair has something to do with this. They are so jealous on me. I can see in those women's eyes. Every time they refuse to sell me my chosen clothes, saying that the price is not the one that was originally attached. I ask them to check their cameras to see that I found it like that. It is ridiculous and I'm sick of asking all the time to speak with a manager, who she recognizes me all the time. I really don't know what to do. Yesterday my son witnessed the whole situation and even his English is so-so, he got so embarrassed. It smells like racism to me.

I talked to a person at another office in Burlington, Vermont and I explained my situation to her. She said that she would check into it and that she would get back to me and let me know. But I had not heard a word from her since then and that was a couple of years ago. I worked for five years for this company, and from what I understand I am entitled to some sort of a pension. I worked for the company from 1987-1991.

Not being able to afford retail shops, I am forced to shop in the "salvation army thrift store." To my surprise, the prices are more than retail. I am shocked and appalled that the prices are not affordable and even outrageous for products that have been donated from good-hearted people. Even the 99 cent store items are marked $4-5! That is criminal! Price gouging!

Furniture prices were exorbitant! A king size headboard, foot-board & rails were priced at $1,499.99! All the furniture in the store had be cleaned & looked very nice, however, it's used & given to the store! I complained to the salesperson and was told their overhead was high. The state agencies in Georgia issue vouchers that can only be used at the Salvation Army, this is price grouching to say the least. 95% of the furniture was outrageously over priced considering it's used furniture given to them by the community.

Unbelievable, Rooms to Go is running a sale right now for an entire room of furniture for $1,000 or less, so why in the name of all that is fair, would a consumer pay $1,499.99 for a headboard, foot-board & rail, with no mattress/box spring?

Monday and Tuesday, Salvation Army advertises 50% off everything in the store that has the color tag of the week. For example, if the color is "green," everything tagged in green is supposed to sell for 50% off. I go to Salvation Army every week. When I arrived to the store on these days (Monday and Tuesday) early in the morning, the workers were removing all of the merchandise with the color that was supposed to be on sale(!), the color that it was supposed to be 50% off. I asked on many occasions to the employees why they removed the merchandise that was supposed to be on sale. Their response to me was that they only did what the manager told them to do. They also said that they didn't agree with it either, but they're just following orders.

I don't think that it is fair to falsely advertise just to bring people to the store. Instead of helping people, to me, Salvation Army seems to be ripping people off. The way I can prove my statement is true is to bring someone to investigate on Monday and Tuesday morning and see how all of the workers promptly remove all the merchandise on sale those two days. I can provide video and pictures! Thank you very much.

This is not so much an injustice in legal terms, rather in moral terms. For years our family has helped families clothe their children by purchasing large quantities of clothes from thrift stores and distributing them out to those in need. And the workers at many thrift stores tell us that many families clothe their children from there for school, children who would otherwise go without decent clothes. Now there is a ban on children's clothes under the age of 12. What are families to do now, where are they to shop and how many children will go without their basic clothing needs due to this enforced rule to keep children safe. We've been purchasing clothes for 40 years and not one child has died, become ill or been damaged by lead.

If toys are a necessary object to ban, fine, children will be disappointed and go without fun, but they can still develop socially without embarrassment. If they lack proper and decent clothing, they will not. It's a problem that will lead to anger issues and other emotional traumas if children cannot find affordable clothing. At a time when our economy is at its absolute worst the government is ending ways to purchase clothing for children in a way families can afford. The backers of this idea must be corporate leaders who don't want clothes resold. They want people to spend in the retail stores to keep economy flowing, but there are millions of families who cannot even put food on the table. How are they going to also keep their babies clothed. This is wrong in every sense of the way. If there is a recall on toys then a recall notice could go out and the store can have a bulletin board with photos of items recalled. They can list them in an easy to find manner so they can still provide for the children of a country already in financial decline.

Salvation Army sells out name-reputation to private corporation whose shameful business is hiding behind "Sally's" good name?! The public is unaware that its donations are not benefiting the community! We discovered recently that it's widely known by vendors and others that local large Salvation Army store (and most likely others worldwide) in prosperous Oakland County (located at corner of John R. and Auburn roads, Rochester Hills) now belongs to a private corporation and delivers only a small percentage of profits on sales to the non-profit organization, while defrauding the public into donating free items by keeping the old respected name!

The prices have gone up with the store reorganizing lately and instead of the poor and needy being benefited by this new "front," goods are not only overpriced but mountains of donations are being "skimmed off the top" for most valuable items, taken immediately out for sale to dealers by the barrel and sold on eBay to the highest bidder! The public needs to know this before donating not only goods, but free community labor.

A public outrage, we need to know what private corporation gets the benefit of not only our abundant free donations, but also free labor since workers continue to be sent to work out their community service sentences by the court, thus further increasing private profit for greed instead of our local communities receiving the intended benefit to help in a small way to soothe taxpayers for the high cost of crime. Why should a private business benefit from the community giving away donations and free labor intended to benefit citizens? This scandal should raise questions for public prosecutors in Oakland County and the State of Michigan, as well as federal IRS, who should have interest in the legality of tax-exempt credit being given to all the citizens for IRS donations.

Also, IRS must be notified for their interest in whether true income is reported by the profit-making corporation. And finally, why are the Michigan courts keep sending community service workers to benefit a private corporation instead of benefiting local taxpayers! If nothing else is done, a headline story before Christmas must perform a public duty to inform citizens about this fraud being perpetuated! Also needed is more investigation by reporters and annual news report reminders! Donations of goods and services have obviously become "big business" for the greedy. Please help us alert authorities and citizens about this "hall of shame" candidate, a local-county-state-nation scandal that makes us sick! Insiders who know of this are too afraid of losing their jobs to talk openly! Letters to public relations department of Salvation Army have gone unanswered.
