I have not seen your fruit scene shopping bags at your Dallas store for the last couple weeks. Where are they as I have been buying this quality bag for years? They are very well constructed and last forever. Whereas the other shopping bags that you sell are garbage. I bought one a couple weeks ago and the handles tore away after the first time I loaded the bag up. I had to return it to the store for a refund. You had a very good high quality bag that lasted forever so I do hope that it hasn't been discontinued by your store in favor of some cheaply made Disney bags. Yes, I love Disney but in this case your fruit scene bags are vastly superior to the Disney Bags. Load them both up over and over again and see for yourself which is the BETTER bag by far. Thank you.

Why call it 99 Cents store? Almost half the items are 1.99$ and up. Each product that is more than 99 cents has a sticker that says, “An Amazing Value”. I beg to differ, 99 cents is an amazing value. Change the name of the store, it’s misleading the consumer.

Surprised when an older male cashier called me "Darling". I find many semi retired and retired working in many stores which is a given for needed income in these times. They do their best to do their work and be helpful, friendly and efficient. I unloaded my groceries and heard "Hello, darling." I never met this man in my life and I know from his culture as a term of endearment. He worked as a waiter perhaps 30 years ago when I questioned him. It is now 2019. Did he do this to women who are coupled? A woman behind me was a bar tender and called her customers "Honey". I never am disrespectful in my reaction but I found it patronizing. I let him know it was charming and apologized but he was bent out of shape because of the loss of faith in humanity.

This is ridiculous. They should start calling it nothing is $.99 anymore store! I used to brag about it all the time to everyone. I was a loyal customer for so long. Now I can’t stand to even go in there because I’m so disappointed that they’re over pricing the cheapest items. Even the produce I used to get there I can get cheaper at any other store now. They don’t even lower produce pricing that’s getting rotten. They’d rather throw it away. They have cheap slippers and purses that look so cheap they should be less than $.99 and they are Over $3.99. Hopefully they lose all their loyal customers or they need to get sued for calling it 99 Cents only. Then maybe they’ll go back to the original 99 Cents only store that everyone loved. They have lost me for good. They suck now!!

The other day I walked into a 99 Cents Only store in CA to get a small bottle of juice. The price tag read .99 cents, but at the cash register the display showed: Is it OK $1.00 for the item? Of course, I pushed OK button. 1 cent is no big deal, but I just want to understand why it is that way. If it's a normal thing for the company to cheat on customers like that, then remove the word ONLY from the name. PS: BTW, there is no food tax in CA.

Hi John, in 2008, the company added a charge of .99 cents (99/100)of once cent) to the base unit price for most merchandise. As a result, currently, the most common price point for items in our stores is 99.99 cents. In almost all instances, this price will round up to one dollar at the register. The overall impact of this pricing change was to increase prices for our merchandise by one penny.

Ok, So I have been fuming about this for a few weeks now. Let me start at the beginning. I used to be a loyal 99 Cents store shopper. Over the past few years I have noticed that they started bringing stuff into the store that did not look like they could be 99 cents nor was it when I got to the register. This was before they were clearly marked. I started shopping less and less when more and more items were not clearly marked and I would get to the register and find out that the price was double what I was expecting (not a good deal when the same bowl at the Dollar Tree is 1.00).

I rarely will go into the 99 Cents store due to the number of time this has happened to me. Well, the last straw was... My daughter needed something for school and we happened to be right next to the 99 Cents Only store. I figured what could it hurt. 1 item, .99 cents, I can do this. We get into the store and right inside on my right, I get wowed by the 2 big 5' tall 6' wide carts of plants they have (good marketing). One was directly in front of the other packed together tight so to get to the plants in the back you had to reach through. I looked for the sign and clearly marked was "99 Cents Only"! I think, great, I need some plants for my planters, so I get a cart, comment on the great price and how healthy they look to the gal closest to me at her register and she smiles.

I grab 24 of these little cuties, place them all nice in the cart (spending about 10 minutes doing this). We then grab the notebook that we came in for. The lines are very long (only two registers are open and each person has about 10 people in line). So We Wait... Finally getting to the register unloading all the plants because you have to ring each one up individually (never understood why I need to do this if they are all the same and you can clearly count them), but nonetheless, do so. She rings them up and as I am putting my credit card in she says that will be $53 dollars and some odd cents. I look up puzzled and said there must be some mistake. I didn't by 48 I only bought 24. She said, no they are $1.99.99 cents each. I said, uh.. No they're not!

I walk over to the sign which clearly reads plants 99 cents only. She walks over to the cart and she looks all around and says, "Well they're 1.99." I again point at the sign and say a little louder, "Uh, it says .99 cents." She looks on all three visible sides and the back and it has no tag other than .99 cents. She looks confused and isn't sure what to do but says they are $1.99. I just stand there and say uhhhh. She then looks again and starts rolling the carts around (they are on wheels) and moves one cart from in front of the other, now partially blocking the walkway into and out of the store. She keeps looking for any sign of a tag. After she completely pulls the carts apart she finds a small tag that was on the cart in the back handwritten that says (flowers 1.99). The other one on the other cart read (plants .99 cents.) There were flowers and plants on both of the carts mixed together.

Now I ask you; Is it my job to move a 6 foot cart around blocking the entry/exit of the store to see if there is a tag on another cart that is clearly tucked tight in behind the other. There was NO way to see that sign unless the cart in front is moved out of the way. I said, "Are you kidding me! The sign said 99 cents that was in the front." She said, "Well they are not." I just stand there. She asks the manager to come up and talk to me. The line is getting nothing by longer, we have wasted at least 3 to 4 minutes discussing this out of line by the cart and when the manager comes up she asked what the issue was and the gal said, "This lady thinks these plants should be .99 cents."

The manager walks over to the carts which are completely moved from where they were and still partially blocking the entry/exit and says "what's the confusion?" The price says right here and points to it "flowers $1.99" and this says "plants .99 cents" right here on this cart. I said, "Well, the carts weren't this way a couple of minutes ago and you couldn't see the sign because this cart was in front of the other". She said, "Well, we found the price. Do you want them for $1.99 or not?" I said "The other issue is flowers are plants!!!" So how was I to know when I saw the only sign that said plants .99 cents that they would not include the flowers. So, "NO I do not want the plants".

I go back to the line and apologize to everyone in line for making them wait. I take all the plants off the conveyor that she had them on and have my daughter go put them back. I am pretty grumbly at this point and apologize to the cashier that I am not trying to be mean to her but it was clearly mismarked and that I hate this happening every time I come in. She said thanks, and that she hates getting yelled at all the time by people who buy something expecting it to be cheaper than it is. She says people are always leaving mad! I left empty handed. I WILL NOT BE BACK! So done with this store. CHANGE YOUR SIGN! It is very misleading and I do NOT understand how you are not sued for false advertising.

Hello everyone. I have been a loyal customer of the 99 Cents Only Stores for many years. The pricing has evolved tremendously over the years. For example, I began to see a dozen eggs that were usually 99 cents, be broken in half (6 eggs), for the $1. Now a dozen eggs are over $2 dollars now. And let’s put this out there, nothing there is 99 cents, everything is rounded up to a dollar. So, there is definitively a reason for a business name change, because nothing is 99 cents anymore. That is false advertisement, and the 99 Cents Only store, is long over due for a business name change, that accurately reflects its pricing to the public. They are no longer a 99 Cents Only Store, and should not be advertising to the public that they are.

On a recent outing to a 99 Cent Store located at 11049 W. Pico Blvd., in Los Angeles, l had an unpleasant appearance. I purchased nearly $150 dollars in groceries. Within that purchase, l had two baskets of strawberries, that have always been a $1 for as long as l can remember. Upon examining my receipt in the car, l noticed that the strawberries are now a whopping $2 per basket. A 100 percent mark up in one swoop. There were no prices stating that on the package, and the price was not posted to reflect that 100 percent price increase.

That same day, l decided, to exchange them for different fruit. To my surprise, the woman who identified herself as the store manager, named **, states that l could not exchange fruit, because it is perishable. So l said to her, "Well l don’t see that policy posted anywhere in your store, nowhere in the produce department, nor is it anywhere on the receipt or the fruit packaging. Therefore, how are customers supposed to know your policy?" She refused to exchange the items, and turned her back to me, and made smart remarks to me, and she was extremely rude. So l said to her, "If that is your policy, by law, and just out of basic respect for your customers, you should have that policy clearly posted." Her response is, "We don’t have to do that, and we are not exchanging your fruit."

So l went to my car, and called customer service. Something l never do, but the manager was just so rude, l had to call. I explained to customer service about what happened. I was asked if l was still at the store location, and l said, "Yes." I was on the phone for awhile, and customer service contacted the store, and l am sure the store manager **. When she came back to the phone, she states that the store manager said that l returned the strawberries to her open. Blatant lie. Not only was she out of line on the non posting of store policy regarding exchanges, she is a liar, and she lied regarding what she did to a customer. I told customer service, their employee/manager was a liar. And instead of instructing the manager to exchange the items, customer service condoned her poor behavior and said they would send me two 99 Cent Store coupons, that l will probably never see.

She needs to be relieved of her position as a store manager. She obviously does not know what she is doing, has no knowledge of store policy laws in place to protect the public, she was rude, and she is liar. ** needs to go elsewhere to work. She is not manager material, or public relations experienced whatsoever. I have no reason to return two baskets of strawberries opened, after just purchasing nearly a $150 dollars in groceries. Absolutely ridiculous. Had l not been in a rush, l would have returned everything to Miss **. Not to mention, the store is predominantly Hispanic, most not able to understand or speak English very well. So on top of them being rude, there is this communication barrier to deal with. And sometimes, that’s a problem.

I don’t see a balance in the hiring of employees. There should be all types of employees working there, not just one ethnic group. It’s a touchy subject for some, but l speak the truth about what l see. And there needs to be more balance in that store. All ethnic groups deserve opportunities, not just one. Anyone who visits this store, will notice why l have concerns. I think l saw an Asian cashier once, and an ** security officer once, but haven’t seen her recently. This needs to be addressed. The public wants a healthy balance of qualified employees, and we want to see other qualified employees given employment opportunities, not just Hispanic employees. That isn’t fair, and the company is sending a very negative, and racist message to the public. I only go to this store, because it is convenient.

Overall, the 99 Cents Only Stores have many issues that they need to address, before they lose even more trust from their loyal customers. You are being dishonest about pricing, or deceptive at least, and it’s a terrible reflection of who you are as a company. Listen to your public, before things escalate unnecessarily. Clearly post store policies, train your employees on how to properly handle the customers, and open your eyes to what is happening here. You are losing customers. The district manager should be on top, of all of these issues, like yesterday. I am beyond shocked, that these issues persist. Hopefully things improve, or l will start shopping Dollar Tree more, and other discount stores as well. The alleged 99 Cents Only Store, that really isn’t a 99 Cent Only Store, is quickly losing me as a customers, as well as the hundreds of dollars that l spend there every month.

I am very happy with our 99 Cents Only on Springs Road in Vallejo. When something is more than 99 cents it is clearly marked. And I have learned if a company sends them something they want the public to test, buy a lot because they will be gone quickly. My complaint is in the wine section. There was a wine that had been $2.99 for quite a while. It was marked at $2.99. When I got to the cashier it came up $3.99. Next time I went back it was still marked $2.99 but I wasn't buying. They need to do a better job of having accurate prices displayed on items with no price sticker.

Furthermore, there are items unmarked in refrigerated or frozen food section. I ended up paying $1.99 for some frozen meal that was not even worth 99 cents! (Tempe, AZ Southern and Rural Rd). The bread and other items have gone up in cases over 400 percent and not worth the price for stale or soon to be stale bread, pastry, donuts, bagels, All bread products from High end bakeries! And the Government says inflation is low. Well the Government should take a hard look at 99 Cents Only Stores in the past two years, 100-400 percent inflation!!!

99 Cents Only Stores have been the only dollar stores I've patronized for years. I have shopped in several locations here in Phoenix and the surrounding area and I have never been disappointed. I wonder if those who complain about the stores have compared them to other 'dollar stores' because that is where 'the proof of the pudding' is! If something is priced higher than 99 cents, there is a reason for it, and you can choose to purchase it ~ or not! The only signs I have seen are the ones that say if there is not a different price on it, then it IS 99 cents, and I have never been charged more 'because we ran out of stickers' or for any other reason. I have also never found any of my purchases to be of lesser quality. Some people are not satisfied with a 'good deal' and they want it to be 'an even BETTER deal!' Life is too short; be happy with the 'good deals'!

Problem is there's no signage posted about seasonal items policy & lack of refund policy is posted on receipt only after you purchase the items. The manager conveniently pointed out sign next to register which is hard to see! After much discussion the manager gave me $20 cash & $15 on a gift card as a compromise after my exchange with other items. As a 20 year business owner, I suggest making policies visible for customers to see! I only received what I did because nothing was posted!

Long gone are the insane random bargains of yesteryear and now the products are generally low grade and compete with retail stores. I use to walk in expecting something special every so often. Now those special items rank in with not so special prices and look like reject products. Also now more and more the staple items I go there for are doubling in price even this week the bread and bagels doubled.

I’ve been shopping more at Dollar Tree, Kroger and Walmart since they generally offer at least the same and often higher quality products, at the same or better prices. I’m watching this chain fade completely out of my life. I get it. The CEO has to show profit. The model which set this store apart is all but gone. Please do us all a favor and change your name. This is absolutely false advertising and the company’s management is very disappointing and poorly trained in customer service. I hope they fix this as I will be letting my family and friends know of their deceiving marketing tactics. Also, the 888-phone provided is useless as nobody answers or bothers to call you back. I attended the District Manager meeting in September of 2018. A very valid question was raised and that question was "If an item is not marked with a yellow sticker and rings up as more than 99 cents, the store will honor the 99 cent price. I looked at the salad packs and it stated that the Caesar Salad was $1.99 but there was not a sticker on the Asian and Mexican Salad Kits. I took pictures for proof and I went to pay for them and I asked that they scan the salad. It rang up for $1.99. I explained what we had discussed at the meeting, they called the "acting manager." Her logic... well there is a sign stating that the Cesar Salad is $1.99... so that answers everything... no it doesn't.

I patronize that store daily and on my IG, YouTube Channel, and Facebook group with over 22,000 people, I have recommended this store. I will no longer recommend this store to anyone..unless they want to deal with rude and condescending employees, who speak to you as though you are trash for shopping there. The lack of customer service is absolutely an atrocity. The older woman with short hair and glasses (not Jane ) laughed in my face and said "So?" and the acting manager yelled at me as I left after I told her that I was going to make a complaint. Today was a shining example of their lack of customer service.

I went to my local 99 Cents Only store that I always go to. I was looking around at their “fresh produce”. There was many rotten fruits. I talked to the closing manager Shannon or Sharon. I’m not 100% sure. She said there isn’t anyone for produce so she will get around to it later. I went back to try to find some good fruit but found nothing but rotten veggies and fruit. I went to the front and had them call her back up. I told her the situation and it needs to get addressed immediately. It’s a health risk. She began to tell me that she is very busy and will have the produce guy do it whenever he comes back to work. I told her just have one of the other workers go back there really quickly and just put the rotten food of to the side. She then had the nerve to tell me I’m more than welcome to do it myself and continuously rolled her eyes at me the whole time.

The 99 Cents Only Stores should be investigated as a public health risk. I am offering this documentation in the hope it will help bring enforcement and lawsuits to the company. This company is starting to cross a very serious red line into what might be considered illegal. The 99 Cents chain stores are offering "Fresh Produce". I am using this term with total skepticism. The produce there is rarely fresh and apparently the company believes perishable produce is to be handled in the same manner as merchandise.

Between February and March of this year I was shopping in Store #54 Glendale at Sonora and San Fernando Road. The produce was routinely spoiled so that I often could not buy what I wanted. When I say "spoiled" I mean to the point of food garbage. Dumpster produce right on the store shelf. The oranges and tomatoes had thick mold. The potatoes had bacterial infections and stunk. In mid March I was sick of it. I confronted the Manager of the store "Pablo". I told him directly his potatoes were all spoiled and to just remove them all fix whatever problem was causing this. He simply dismissed my complaint and told me it is not his problem. He did not remove the spoiled produce.

Then I started watching and analyzing the produce on a daily basis and I was there when they rotated the stock in the morning. To my surprise the new potato stock already had spoilage. In other words, the produce was spoiled right off the truck! What this means is the 99 Cents Only Stores has beforehand knowledge of illegal and risky conditions that could cause food poisoning or simply just rip off the customer of fair quality and they distribute the produce anyway. Around this time I started making calls to the Health Department.

Apparently the warehouse or storage area for produce before distribution is not following protocol for food safety. They are getting cross contamination somewhere. AND THEY DON'T CARE. The stores are also not maintaining any vigilance to remove spoilage before it spreads and they pile produce together in large bins. This of course spreads infections rapidly. The store produce displays are too tight and too warm. I some cases part of the produce is sitting in direct sunlight. Early this month, I had enough. The customer service at Store #54 was atrocious and I found maggots in the bags of potatoes. I photographed the maggots and wrote emails to the main office in Commerce to the customer service department.

What happened? The two representatives Jessica and Julia just backstabbed me. They took my complaint I made in confidence and sent all my information right back to the manager I was complaining about. A few days later I walked into the store to shop and this ** "Pablo" began stalking and intimidating me in the store. He followed me around and fabricated false accusations that he would use to put a "trespassing order" on me. The next day I went back there and the same happened with the second manager "Fidel". Now it's over a week later after my official written complaint and they still have spoiled produce in the store! I am writing one negative review after another on Yelp, Google Maps, etc... And then I email them to announce my review and they still won't fix anything.

Well there you have it. This is a sick company that does not care about customers (and bully customers). The produce is foul, the customer service is horrible, and the name "99 Cents Only" is a price scam. What can you do about it? Take photos of the disgusting produce and post online. Write bad reviews. Become a nuisance to the store until they improve the conditions. Maybe together we can threaten their reputation and license. Remember: Think 99. Think food garbage. Think price scam. Think bad service.

A lot of seniors are stumped by this inflation and are forced to look for sales elsewhere because the 99 Cents Only Store is no longer a discount. It was worth getting a random piece of spoiled fruit in your bag when it was a discount, however, why would you pay full price for damaged or soon to expire goods? The 99 Cents Only Store overstepped its boundaries, forcing consumers to look for sales at regular retailers. The service is poor, the lines are long, now consumers are not willing to spend as much and many have just been turned off by their sneaky way of increasing prices meanwhile insinuating (by name) they offer the same service of a 99 Cents Only Store, and they do not! This definitely a case of FALSE ADVERTISEMENT!

First she ignored me for few minutes and start taking care of the customers, finally I complained and asked her to process my refund, then she turned to me and said, "Do you want to shop because I can't give you your money back." I said, "No I do not want to make any purchase. I want my money back," she kept arguing with me for few minutes. I have been shopping at the store on Marks street for years. Today I was treated by the manager like I was an idiot. I was at the store when it opened today and went by the cooler section and grabbed a few of the Kraft packs of the sliced cheese. At that time there was no sign stating there was a limit. So I continued with my shopping and when I got to the register I heard the cashier tell the customer in front of me that there was a limit on the cheese. Both of us told her that there was no sign so she said that the manager came and told her that he placed a limit sign up but this was after we had the items in the cart. So the manager told her it was okay for the customer in front of me to have the 4 packs.

I then asked the manager when did he place the sign up and I told him it was not up when he opened the store and he looked at me and said "Are you sure you did not see a sign?" like I am an idiot, REALLY! I told the cashier that I wanted the 4 packs like he gave the other customer and she said she would need to get an approval from the manager. On a previous visit, I was in the back by bread section which was empty and there was another regular customer speaking to one of the employees asking her if they were going to place any bread out. The employee told her that the manager did not want to put the bread out but she went in the back and brought the whole rack out and told the customer to pick what she wanted. The customer then turned to me and asked if wanted something from the rack and I told her no that I would wait.

At that time the employee looked at me and said "Who said I was putting this out?" RUDE! I can understand limits, but make sure the signs are posted before you open the store. The manager then said that other customers complained because they do not have the chance to buy the name brand items. If this is the case then they need to be there when the store opens and items should be on a first come first service basis. Do I need to shop here NO, did I like to yes but not anymore. You need to treat customers with respect, and you will not find respect at this store.

I was visiting Santa Ana store. Never been in the store before. As I was walking the aisles some of them were so empty. My problem didn't start until I try to find someone to get an item down from on top of the call storage. It was a bear in a box for 599. When I finally found somebody to get one down he handed it to me and walked away. I was examining the bear and found one of the paws was dirty like grease so I just took it to the register and decided to pay so I can ask there to get a newer one. Well that didn't go very well. The girl was very bothered by me asking. It showed in her face so I decided I would tell her I'll help her put my things in the bed when she finally found someone to get another box to move that box was torn apart.

I asked for lightly feeling bad that I was bothering her if I can get one more box because this was a gift for my granddaughter and I didn't want to show up with a messed up box. Now that didn't go well either. I paid for my item and she started taking the next person while all my stuff was on the counter that I paid for. Since she has an attitude I gave her the bag and said, "I was just trying to help you but you go ahead and put everything in the bag yourself now." This is where things went bad. She told me that she does not back anything unless I buy a bag from her. One of my bags was a bag purchased at a different store. The other bag was a bag regular bag purchase inside the store about 6 months ago.

I was so surprised I asked her to show me a sign that says they do not put things in a bag unless you buy a bag. From now I've never heard of such a thing. I've been to several 99 Cent Only Stores never been treated like this. What really upset me was that she continued on with the girl behind me and then try to start the next person behind that girl and I said she needed to bag my stuff. I had no idea what the new law that in order for them to bag your items you had to buy a bag from them. I will never go back to that store and I hope nobody else does either.

I have shopped at 99 Cents Only store since they first opened. The store has totally gone downhill in recent years to the point of not wanting to shop there anymore. First and most inexcusable is their alleged "security". Totally worthless. Most of the time they are either sitting in their car in the parking lot or chatting friendly with the shoplifters as though they know them while the clerks do his job of trying to detain them until the police come, which never happens. They always take off and the security doesn't even bother to go after them, to get a license plate, description of car or people or anything. One particular loudmouth security person is rude, obnoxious, ignorant, loud, disrespectful, power hungry, directly lies in an attempt to puff up himself, sits in his car in the parking lot listening to music, acts as a parking police rather than security, "disrupts the operation of the store and the mgrs' duties over parking issues because he's a drama queen.

I'm convinced the security is who is bringing in the undesirables to the store. I have been in the store when shoplifting was going on and it's always been the employees who catch them. The security is totally worthless. They stand around. If you can find them... Watching the clerks do the job they are supposed to do. What I also hate about this store I once loved is that more often than not they close early before their stated hours. I'll run over to get something at 10 min before 10 and they have decided to close early. It doesn't matter if you needed just one thing... They won't recognize a faithful regular customer. In fact they are downright rude. And their prices! If something says 99 cent underneath it that's what it should be. No. Not at this store. Their items are not clearly marked.

Quite often you can get the same or better brand item for cheaper at a regular store. Management acts totally unconcerned with store issues or the fact it's become a hub for the homeless, shoplifters and panhandlers. The alleged security protects them more than they do the victims. So, I wouldn't recommend this store unless you want some abuse and disrespect and possible break in of your car or theft of your purse.

When I questioned this, the salesperson and manager said that there was a small paper/print sign on the door that said that some items can be more. All the while the huge storefront identifying sign says "99 Cents ONLY" and the employees wear a badge that says in large letters 99 Cents ONLY. This is very deceptive to the consumer who often will not check to see that they are actually charged much more than the 99 cents for an item. This practice is truly deceptive and obviously meant to defraud consumers. It reminds me of past "Bait and Switch" policies that were used by some retailers to get people into the store.

NEVER have I (a 74-year-old woman) ever shoplifted or been accused of stealing but a rude, nasty woman who said her name was ** at a 99 Cents Store on 7470 West Lake Mead, Las Vegas NV accused me last night just as the store was about to close. My husband was waiting in line and I was in my wheelchair looking at a few items at the end of an aisle. ** approached me and said to pay for the reading glasses I was wearing that I had bought them years ago and worn them from home. I told her that I had the glasses for sometime and was an honest woman. Her response was that I should not come back to the store if I was not satisfied with the service. Not only did she falsely accuse me but insulted me as well.

Undoubtedly no one cannot be pleased with such an employee. She even boasted that she was a manager but we have never seen a store manager act in such a disgraceful manner. I should have removed my glasses and showed her that they were much cleaner than those handled and sold in any store. Please do what you must to prevent other shoppers from being treated badly. Not sure why so many people are complaining. I mostly shop at Costco and I go the 99 Cent Only stores several times a year. I went today, and boy did I find great products. Everything I bought was 99.99 cents, only 2 items were $1.99 and $2.99 and they were clearly marked (one on the label which was at the bottom of the item. I bought a pack of 3 chandelier bulbs from Costco last week for $12. Today I bought 8 chandelier bulbs, 4 packs (2 in a pack) for $4.00. I bought a lipstick holder which has a small narrow mirror inside. For the last 10 years I was looking for this item which almost doesn't exist anymore. It would have been $8 to $10 in any store, here it's 99.99 cents. I could go on and on about the many newer and better products the 99 Cents Store carries. Do you really expect them to keep the 99 cent price for 99 years??? That's the name of the store and they don't want to change it - and they're right.

I agree with many of these other reviews from this 99 cent store ONLY stores. It is completely false advertising, when not all items in the store are 99 cents and are 1.99, 2.99 or even more. If this store wants to change prices is fine. But they need to change the name of the store. Many people walk in thinking that everything is 99 cents as it says on their logo. Then when it comes down to pay they see that some items are sold for more money. This isn't right and I would like to create a lawsuit against these chain stores. I arrive to my "orientation" to find out that I am actually at a 2nd interview with the District Manager. There were a total of 15 applicants, 14 of them were hispanic and I was the only White one. Everyone was hired and given a schedule, I was told that the manager would be giving me a call that same day or the next morning to let me know what day I am starting. No phone call.

So now none of this is making sense. So then he tells me maybe it is because of your pink hair, I said "excuse me but my hair is natural in color (strawberry blonde). My name is Amanda **. I am 6 months pregnant and fell in one of your stores today around 3:30. (St. 108 Hemet) The associates treated me VERY poorly and one associate that watched me fall simply turned his back to me. It seems the only persons to be concerned were other customers. The associate wouldn't even come over to see if I was okay until another shopper threatened with police. When he came over, we explained that the floor was wet and the associate denied it even though it clearly was wet. We insisted on seeing a manager to file a report. The manager nonchalantly listened to my concerns without even an apology. Once pressing for a report to be made, he asked if I'd like to file one. I asked him to wait one moment while I placed all the items I dropped in my cart which was a couple aisles away. When I returned, he wasn't there.

I took the liberty to walk in the back room where he was to file a report. He asked my name, address and if I needed an ambulance. I told him I didn't think an ambulance was needed, but I did hurt myself. My left shoulder and back hurts from trying to catch my fall. My right hip and buttocks as well as my ankles. He did not let me see the report and refused to give me a copy. I did not receive any other information other than I would be contacted by someone from Corporate within the next day. Several customers came up to me afterwards and told me the associate was denying that the floor was wet or even that I fell! I'm sure video footage from your security cameras will beg to differ.

I tried snapping shots of the filthy floor but they had managed to dry it before I came back from filing the report. I managed to get one non relative witness’s name and phone number. Roger was his name and I plan on giving his information to the D.A.'s office on Monday if this is not properly handled, as I have no faith in the store manager to resolve this. First of all we have been shopping at 99 Cents only stores for years on a regular basis, and rarely had any real issues.... until this year. Most issues we have seen are minor in my opinion, and I chalk most up to growing pains. Obviously they have made a lot of changes in pricing recently, which for the most part is not an issue. However some of the new pricing doesn't seem to be calculated well at all. But the way I see it, I can always buy elsewhere if I don't agree with the new pricing structure. What I can't tolerate is the rude, inexperienced, inconsiderate, nasty employees. Because of issues we have had with some of the employees, we do not shop at here as much as we use to.

We stopped by Palmdale, CA store #109 and am very unhappy with the attitude of the employee/store manager. She claimed she was the manager anyway. The receipt printed the name Elizabeth. We purchased several items, including several Juicy Juice 100% juice 64 oz. When Elizabeth rang the juice up she included CRV. When I tried to explain to her that there is not supposed to be CRV charged on 100% juice 64 oz. containers, she informed me that all juice is charged CRV. When I tried to explain to her again that is was incorrect, she told me "Look, I have worked in retail for 4 years and I know CRV is always charged on any juice". Again I told her this was incorrect. She then said, "If is is in a plastic container, then CRV is charged". I'm sorry but she is 100% INCORRECT. California Beverage Container Recycling and Litter Reduction Act states that 100 percent fruit juice in containers 46 oz. or greater not to be charged.

The fact that a CRV was being charged is not what upset me. What upset me was Elizabeth's attitude and rude, snide, nasty remarks. Now that they have changed your pricing strategy we always check prices before grabbing an item. Today we also grabbed 3 tubes of toothpaste that clearly had the price of 99 cents posted all over with NO indication of it being any other price, however when we checked out it rang up as $1.99. This is just one example of the erroneous pricing that we have seen, and always causes problems at checkout, not just for us, but we see this with other customers as well. It is getting OLD! And in fact I think CA has a law regarding this. Just because they "think" their prices are "cheap" doesn't mean they can treat their customers this way and get away with it.

NOTE: That Elizabeth told me if I had a problem she wasn't going to do anything and I could take it up with corporate. So I contacted 99 Cents only corporate and no one ever replied back. Just goes to show it's not just the employees that work in their stores.

This evening, I visited the 99 Cents Only Store, #47, in Reseda, CA. I made my way through the store, and, really, most of the fun is gone. Previously, I knew what to expect for 99 cents, and occasionally, I'd find a bargain! Not anymore! If I find something that looks like a bargain, it's now somehow marked much more than 99 cents, either through a shelf tag, other sign, or a tiny label on the product, or pasted over the bar code. And, if I find a bargain that is clearly marked 99 cents, that doesn't matter. It too, is probably not 99 cents. Such was the case tonight. I was shopping, and stumbled upon Old Spice Cruise Control Forming Creme for hair. I looked around, and it was clearly labeled 99 cents on the shelf tag. I congratulated myself on a good find, and put two of the items in my cart.

Upon checkout, I noticed that the price on my two Old Spice items had magically changed to $1.99. I pointed this out to the cashier, **, who asked, "So do you want them or not?" I did want them, but I wanted the proper price. She had to call a "person with the key" to remove the items, but as I wanted them for the clearly marked 99 cents, she had to call a manager. After waiting for approximately 10 minutes, the manager arrived. **, as he told me his name, was the manager, and he was unable to honor the price. While I had been waiting for him to come to the front of the store, I had returned to the aisle with the product and taken a picture, clearly showing the 99 cents price tag directly below the item. I showed this to **, but he just smiled and chuckled, and said that the price was not for the item that I wanted.

I encouraged ** to walk back with me to the aisle and see it for himself. He stated emphatically that he did not NEED to do this, as he knew the price was wrong, and was for another item. Again, he smiled, and chuckled, and seemed to get great humor out of the situation. I asked him why he was laughing, and he stated, "Well, I'm not going to get mad over $2, so I might as well laugh." ** refused to give me the price, find me another manager, call a person who could help, go to the aisle to see the price for himself, or do anything useful. He just stood there, chuckling and smiling. He and ** even told the customers waiting in line that I was the reason the line was getting longer. Eventually, after about 10 minutes of my repeated insistence that the store honor the price noted, he decided I wasn't going to leave, and, eventually instructed the cashier to remove one of my items from my receipt, effectively giving me the proper price.

This is not the first time I've had trouble at this same store, over the same issue. Many times products have not been marked at a higher price, and have wrung up that way. And in fact, I think the company counts on this. They're hoping that people at the register won't notice the higher price, or will simply allow it be charged to them. When they raised their prices from 99 cents to 99.9999 cents, as their receipts now say, they claimed that their pricing hadn't changed in years. But product sizing, and quantity and availability sure did. Now they're doing it again, and I'm going to speak up.

The supervisors there are rude, disrespectful, unfriendly, and have the worst customer service I have ever experience in my life!! A simple question on a price seems to bother them. It’s almost like the staff is very unhappy with their job and frustrated with the amount of task on hand. I will never go back to this location. They lost my business!! I hope a District manager or a corp member or even a CEO of this company reads and takes some extreme measure to fix the store environment for this location.

As I was pulling up to the $.99 store on LA Avenue, I looked at the clock in the vehicle I was in, it said 945. As a Disabled individual, I wanted to hurry as quickly as I could, however due to my disabilities I am a little slow as to the time in that vehicle to have been off by at least 10 Minutes. As I was walking up hurriedly but by all means not running to the sliding doors, I was a bit excited that I might get the three items that I needed which were close to the front register before the store closed.

The very nice young man taking care of the carts was standing at the entryway sliding doors which were not closed all the way, stated that the store was closing, but as some stores do, that is a notice to customers coming in or out that the store is closing shortly. Knowing this I quickly retrieved a cart as I cannot carry them in my arms or in a basket, even if it were light items, I entered the $.99 store. I got down to the beginning of the kitchen bag and napkin Isle and slid and fell halfway underneath the cart. There was a very nice lady there that was shopping and offered her assistance in helping me up. It was difficult however I did not want anyone thinking there were ill intentions on my part toward anyone regarding my fall. Whether that had to do with the floors being slippery or me trying to quickly grab the three items that I needed...

A light blonde curly haired lady, extremely aggressive, yelled to me three or more times that I needed to leave. Even The nice customer lady was trying to explain to the manager that I had fallen and I could see she was taken aback by the manager’s treatment toward me. During all of this time, I had not spoken a word to the manager and was grabbing onto the cart and limping to stay standing as she continued to aggressively approach me and continue to approach me in A scary way as I do not know this person and I am not sure what she is capable of. As she got at least 5 feet from me, I had finally turned around to look at her and being frightened I tried to calm her in the best way I knew. Being in so much pain from having fallen and being scared she continued to angrily say I needed to leave.

I have no problems exiting the store and had this person approached me in a kind and professional manner I would have returned the items to the shelf and left the store. She stated she was going to contact my place of business and report me because everyone at the store wanted to go home, but the only issue here was miscommunication and the clock in the vehicle I was in being off by 10 minutes. I do understand that the employees all wanted to go home as she again angrily stated to me which again I most certainly can understand having worked in the past before becoming fully disabled.

When I asked for her name, she grabbed her badge and literally stuck it in my face but as scared as I was at that point I cannot remember her name except that she was a blonde, about 5'8" to 5'9" tall, and I most certainly could be mistaken but I believe her name was **. I'm not really sure as everything happened so quickly and again I was scared and I could see that the other customer was just as shocked as I was and the manager completely ignored the customer when she said that I had fallen. It is obvious that that was of no matter to her except for me to leave. As she approached me I expressed to her to let me have a chance to speak as I was not resisting only standing as my knee was pounding from having fallen so hard and she talked right over me with no regard at all. The store number is 1293B on Los Angeles Ave. in Simi Valley, CA.

I understand having been off on the few minutes when the store had already closed, but her complete disregard for having fallen, the amount of pain that I was in, the lack of letting me apologize and exiting the store, and aggressively speaking and approaching me is unacceptable as an employee, but speaks very badly as a manager which I believe is the face of the company at that particular store but would also speak poorly on any $.99 store to a customer that had been treated so horribly. The time that I returned to my vehicle I looked at my cell phone and it said 10:14 PM which it was then that I realized the store was passed closing and I thought I had 10 more minutes but with the extreme anxiety from this manager I will not be returning to this store. Nor any other $.99 store. I spend at least a third of my disability check at the $.99 store and have for the past two years.

I have never experienced any treatment like this at this store that I visit at least 3 to 4 times a week and I am beyond shocked. Again, a simple mistake and communication even if it solely being on my part does not warrant that type of behavior as I was trying to apologize to her yet her anger seemed more important then hearing anything I had to say. After this incident, I would not ever recommend any $.99 store especially this one.

I was overcharged for several seasonal items. I understand that the 99 Cents Only Store does charge more for some items. They post signage stating the item is more than .99 cents. Being tricked into purchasing items that are more than the advertised price of .99 with not posted signage is fraudulent. Then trying to return or exchange the items that were above the implied .99 cents is impossible. This store return policies are fraudulent. They claim they help people by offering quality name brand products for .99 cents ONLY. That is a LIE! The ONLY customer dis-service they have is DIS-service.

So I called customer DIS-service and got a rude, unprofessional, liar that kept cutting me off and talking over me. Sad & sorry excuse of a customer DIS-service representative. "Zeira" claimed she was the ONLY supervisor period. In all of the .99 cent headquarters located in City of Commerce, CA NO ONE WAS HER BOSS, SUPERVISOR, DIRECTOR or SUPERIOR in ANY way whatsoever! She refused to give me a name, number or email address to complain to because "SHE" was the PRESIDENT of the customer DIS-satisfication department!!!!!! OMG!!!! She lied to me. She hung up on me twice. Once, when I asked her to tell me where the return policy was posted in the store. The 2nd time when I insisted on speaking to her superior. She constantly cut me off and talked over me. There is NO way she could have listened to a single thing I said cause she couldn't shut her blabbering mouth long enough to listen.

Bottom line..... The Dollar Store has courteous, professional employees. If you have a problem at the Dollar Store, the store manager WILL take care of the problem. The Dollar Store is a National Chain and has a much better return policy. The Dollar Store sell ALL their items for the advertised price of ONE DOLLAR. They dont trick their customers into buying their over a dollar products then refused to return them like the 99 Cents ONLY Store does. The produce at the 99 Cents Only Store is NO Bargain and the produce sold at the 99 Cents ONLY Store is usually what reputable Grocery stores THROW OUT. The 99 Cents Only Store "dumpster dives" to get the produce they sell.

I was looking at my receipt from my last visit, and I was charged 1.79 for strawberries. I did not see any price tag on them and assumed that they were 99 cents. Like all the previous times I've bought them there. I was unaware at the time of my visit, or I would NOT have purchased them. The strawberries are very low quality, usually very ripe, or not ripe enough, and a few of these were even moldy on the bottom!

I shop at the 99 cent only store because I'm low income and 99 cents is a price I can afford and assume that's what price I'm going to pay for these lower quality items. But, paying 1.79 for a item I've bought many times previously for 99 cents, and not aware of any sign and absolutely no price on the strawberries basket. I feel like I was deceived, taken advantage of, lied to, and how many times has this happened to people whom are assuming they are paying 99 cents only?

I asked and waited for the manager, she arrived and quoted the sign ALL ITEMS ARE 99 cents or under. But this is not even marked, posted and among other paper items for 99 cents, I replied. I know she said we have problems with this. I asked why prices aren't marked on high items? She said she wondered too. I encountered this twice now at the store in Lakewood and in Hawaiian Gardens. Unless your are paying attention to the register, whatever price they feel like scanning in on items you will be charged. So on items greater than 99 cents, if you catch it at the register, is when you can choose if you want that item or not. I told the manager I will be filing a complaint and she actually encouraged me too. Obviously this is happening a lot. This seems to be an administrative decision. That's disconcerting.

The 99 cent only store in Pomona Calif. 606 E. Holt Ave, has much to be desired. This particular store is not managed properly. The first impression falls way below a 5 on the 1-10 scale. It is not clean, very disorganized, dirty floors and the aisles are loaded with many boxes of merchandise that are not put on the shelves. A customer cannot go through the aisles without banging the boxes and a person coming from the other direction cannot pass. This looks more like an outlet than a store. The store certainly does not have any pride or good impression for people when they walk in. The store is constantly announcing to the public that they are looking for help.

When you apply, they seem to lose your application and they say they are not hiring, so why are they advertising that they are looking for people who want a "future" with them? I have asked the manager 4 times to do stock work at night to supplement my income and I am given the run around. He even asked why, do I want to work there? That says to me that he is not serious about people who want to work. I feel if a person wants to really work, he will return to the manager and keep requesting a job. This store does not care about that.

I do notice that the employees that do work there do not last long and the turnover is very high. They seem to hire people that do not plan on staying long and also who do not have a great track record for work as opposed to those who really want to work for a living. Many of the cashiers do not even have a smile and do not greet a customer. Also, why are they advertising 99cent only if they are charging more for items and they do not give back your penny when you give them a dollar? I consider that false advertisement if you enter and expect the customers to pay more for milk, eggs, fruit per lb rather than 99cent for the bag of fruit. How does corporate office slide with this kind of business?

I am not happy with the 99cents store in Pomona at that location. The other store on Arrow and Towne Ave is fresh, clean, and looks very presentable. The caliber of people are much different. I hope that the regional managers go visit this undesirable store location.

The ticket rang up exactly 2 dollars. When I asked why I didn't get any change back, the clerk said it was store policy to round up the price. I took a closer look and instead of ringing up .99 it rang up .9998 for each loaf of bread, the register automatically rounds to the nearest dollar after 4 decimal places apparently. Imagine if someone did a lot of shopping at this store and the pennies added up. This is false advertising if you ask me.

I am a regular 99c customer, and on many occasions I have witnessed the employees holding back on putting all items on display, example, gallon bottles of orange juice, large bottles of ice tea, other items that aren't always in stock. As the employee cracks open the box, sees what's there... starts speaking Spanish to their co workers and the hiding begins... It's very rude to the customers. If they want to deals first, why don't they open the boxes before they come to the floor? This is a problem at several stores...

I visit your store in Missouri City at least twice a week and with 6 grandkids I spend about $50 each visit. I am so disgusted that there is normally 2-4 employees talking to each other and not checking customers out. When I ask those clerks who are talking to open up a cash register they say the only cashier working needs to call for help. The line could be out the door and yet clerks stand on the floor talking like, "Damn you I don't care how long the line is. My conversation is much more important." This is horribly pathetic, but I found a solution. Dollar Tree has a lot more cashiers who will wait on me and the line are not hanging out he door. You need to train all employees that the customers are important to your success.

The manager of the 99cent Only Store at the Huntington Park in Pacific Boulevard and Randolph (6124 Pacific Blvd, Huntington Park, CA 90255) is profiling black people when they go into that store. He contacts security to walk around the store and watch them. I’m sure it makes them; it’s a Hispanic 99cent store. He is running around the store with security. I’ve never seen anything like it in my life. While he is doing all this, Spanish women are shoplifting milked cans and other items. All I have to say is wow!

99 Cents Store-606 E. Holt Ave Pomona, CA - Management and security officer need to report the loiters in their parking lot. It is becoming dangerous and we cannot just leave it to the police. Managers of any store should be held responsible for anyone outside their front door begging for money, insisting for a hand out and walking the customer to their cars to get any freebie they can! The loitering population is increasing and I feel that it will only be stopped when something terrible happens. The drug dealers and prostitutes are parading around, cussing at each other and blocking the parking lots spaces talking to their friends. It is not safe at this location! People are afraid to go into the stores now in this strip mall. But this particular store is creating more of the undesirables to hang around and bring more problems to the area. 99 Cent store regional managers or corporate office needs to address this issue!

I work for an inventory company that conducts inventory for retail and financial stores. Just last night, I was conducting inventory for the 99 cent store here in Las Vegas, Nevada. The manager for the 99 cent store that was in charge of the inventory thought it was okay to speak to me completely in a rude way. Since the night started, he was completely rude and disrespectful to his own employees. At first, I didn’t think anything of it, and it was one of those situations that you just had to look past. But when I made a mistake with my inventory count, he started yelling at me in front of everyone working inventory and that was there employed by the 99 cent store. When I told him that I wasn’t going to allow him to speak to me like he does his own employees, he called my boss to the front and told him he wanted me to leave because I was talking back to him.

I am a 34-year-old woman, a mother and a recent college grad with a Masters Degree in Human Resource Management, and with my professional degree you are not allowed to treat others with such disrespect. The 99 cent manager said that he was the actual owner of the store, and he could speak to me and his employees any way he likes. So if that is how he wants to treat others, I truly encourage everyone in the Las Vegas Nevada area to not shop at this 99 cent store located on Nellis Boulevard and Stewart! If consumers continue to shop at this store, the manager will continue to think that it is okay to treat others so harshly. If we don’t support this store, the manager will learn a harsh lesson that is well over due!

I purchased a package of salted and roasted peanuts in the shell from my local 99 Cent store. As I began eating the nuts, I sensed a strange taste - a taste and smell of paint. I was puzzled, and checking online, I found out that this is the result of the nuts being rancid. I checked the package, but there was no mention of a freshness date. We got sick that night with vomiting and diarrhea. I contacted the producer who advised me that retailers dictate what they do or do not want on their packaging, however there was a "code". She interpreted the code which told us the nuts were past their expiration. Seems 99 Cent stores want to maximize their profit by hiding this very important safety information. Buyer, beware.

I recently shopped at my neighborhood 99 cent store San Diego CA and while in line to pay, I watched a little girl of about 8 or 9 years of age pick up some "fuzzy handcuffs" and run over to her mom to see if she could buy them for her. We as a society are so desensitized that we don’t think anything of these types of toys anymore. However, it saddened me to see that this innocent young girl, who didn’t know she was holding a sex toy in her hand, thought of it as a fun toy or something.I was with my husband so as he stayed in line, I walked over to the display, which is right in the front of the cashier station as you walk in along with valentine cute toys. I asked an employee about it, if possibly they had made a mistake by putting it out on display that way. She said that it was on their map of merchandise to stock in general view. Wow!

Anyway, while most might see this as petty, the petty stuff we keep ignoring keeps pushing our young children into a maturity that is premature. If my 8-year-old had brought that to me, I would have been extremely upset. If I as a parent would want my kids exposed to things of that nature, then I would take them with me to adult book stores right? Please don’t get me wrong, I don’t have a problem with the item itself. As an adult, I may or may not decide to buy sex toys for me and my husband. However, I wouldn’t expect to go to my local 99 cent store, Wal-Mart, Target or Albertsons to buy them! (Just saying) I did write to them, and asked for follow through, so hopefully they place the sex toys along with the other sex items, such as condoms and lubricants up by the cashier, out of site of young children.

Additionally, as many of you have complaints about the customer service by the employees, who don’t even say excuse me while they are trying to get by you when stocking merchandise, etc. I could go on and on. When I asked for a phone number to call to complain, the employee had to get the manager to give me the number. When she finally came, she threw up her hands like a gangster as to ask me "was up" (amazing). She gave me the number quickly and walked away. Then I asked the first young lady I spoke to what that was all about, again in "sign language", the young lady rolled her eyes and said "ah, don’t worry about it." My husband caught all that since he was in line watching. Just thought I would add that in to validate everyone else's complaints about their customer service. I really do hope it all gets resolved because I can get good deals there!

I purchased some dry food items yesterday to make brownies for my daughter's class party. I found out later that day that four others were bringing brownies, so I decided to take the items back to exchange for marshmallows so that I could make rice crispy treats instead. I was told by the manager that their policy is that they do not take back food items. I have never seen anything in writing that states that and I just wanted to exchange for something else and not get my money back, plus I had just bought it yesterday and I had my receipt too. The stores need to have their return/exchange policy printed on their receipts. Now, I don't even want to buy anything there because I don't know if I would be able to return or exchange it if I need to.

I went to shop at your store. As usual, your customer service employees stink. I asked what isle is something in or looking for a particular product. I was totally ignored or they wouldn’t even ask a coworker to help me, the customer. They don’t speak English. I have made 2 applications there at the same store which I doubt are still there. I bet my life on it. Yet, they will hire poor customer service people with no skills and don’t speak the English language. You should go and see how many of them work there and you will see half of them either ignore you or say “I no no”.

I have great customer skills. I like working with people. But yet, I can’t get hired. Why? Is it because I’m too old, 58? I’m of Latin decent. Don’t get me wrong. I speak 2 languages. And I even took Dale Carnegie class from my old employer. I don’t feel this is right to be treated this way. I’m thinking of going to Dollar General from now on. Maybe I will get better service. It’s a shame because I like your store. But like everything, things come and go. And I’m sure you won’t miss my business compared to all the people who shop there. But your business there will fold one day with this type of service. Please, I would like some feedback from this complaint unless there is some tax issue going on. I’m just saying. I’m looking for a job, part time or full any hours. And I guess I’m the wrong one. Thank you for this concern to this matter. It will be deeply appreciated. I was shopping in your store #297 (Pinole, CA) on September 25, 2011. I slipped and fell in some standing water that was on the floor. I filed a complaint and have not heard from anyone concerning the situation. I shop in this store about 2 or 3 times a week. All the manager did was call my house, asked how to spell my name and did I wear glasses. She told me that they had cameras and they would review them. It seems like I would have heard from someone on how I am doing. If this is the way that the 99 Cents Only Store treat their customers, it is too bad. I am very friendly with your employees and the ones that were not there on that day, I will inform them of what happened. Your manager at this store needs to be replaced. Since they changed managers in this store, the store is very unclean and dirty. I do not care what anybody says. There should not have been standing water on the floor. I guess I will have to take this further. It was a bad experience.

I have been trying to have someone contact me about an incident that happened to me at the 99 cent store a year ago. I was accused by one of the workers there for stealing. She yelled across the customers, "was I going to pay for what I put in my pocket?" I ignored her because I didn't think she was talking to me. When she was finished with the customers, she came from around the register, stood in my face and asked me if I was going to pay for what I put in my pocket. I told her that I didn't take anything so she asked me to take out what was in my pocket, which was half pack of a cigarette and my lighter.

I immediately asked to speak to the manager. I was told that she was not in so I went to my job. Four hours later, I went back to the store and the manager told me that the limitation was over with so I could not report it. I asked her for the corporate number and she gave me two disconnected numbers. I had to use a friend's computer to try to contact them. All I am getting from them is attitudes from the legal department and the district manager telling me that it has been a year. They do not or will not understand that I have been calling them for a year to complain about what happened to me in the store and they are just sweeping it under the rug.

I purchased some frozen ground turkey for dinner on 5-04-10. An hour later I got violently ill with vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramps and dizziness & pain. I was driven to the UCI Medical Center in Orange County for "gastroenteritis" caused by food poisoning (exposed to tainted food). I was instructed to file a customer incident report for Store #187 located in Fullerton, CA. I have attached and submitted for investigation medical reports, all billings, including lost wages due to this illness, and follow-up letter from 5-4-10. I was told by their legal department that the process would take about 21 working days (I am now entering my 100th day, without any communication).

I did receive a letter stating that I should further my action with the vender, I told them that this is not a vender issue and reminded them that I bought this item from the 99 cent only store and that it was their responsibility and liability for the product that they had bought and sold to the consumer. They basically denied my claim and have pointed their finger at other venders. I have witnessed in their stores eggs on the food isle shelves along with discard refrigerated items left out for periods of time that will lead to contamination. Many of this items are then compromised and then restocked to be sold to the public, as in my case. I had to stay home painfully sick that week, I never felt that way before and it's like I wanted to die.

I was making a purchase w/ my debti/visa card and it was under ten dollars. I didn't understand the owner at first very well because of his heavy accent, and finally he became quite annoyed as he tried to explain: he would be charged so much that it wasn't worth it for him to let me pay w/ my debit card. To accommodate him I would've paid cash except that I was out. So I just left.

It was a long time since I went back, and now only w/ cash - which is inconvenient, and not available as my debit card.
