I have a monthly subscription to freecreditreport.com (subsidiary of Experian). My score for January shows mid 700's. In same month, I applied for a credit card from Citi and they showed my Experian score as mid 600's. No doubt resulting in lower limit with higher APR and a hard inquiry ding on my credit report. No doubt each will point to the other one stating it's their bad data.

I'm very happy with Experian. They help me. I don't know how come a lot of people say "This is a scam." Learn how to read. It is not that difficult to see the fee. They have to get the Experian report. I see a lot of comments regarding the extra fee for the three bureaus. Come on, how the heck somebody can be so brainless to get a charge when all the info is on the website? Again, learn how to read. It's as simple as that.

In early December I paid $1 for three agency credit reports through Experian. They automatically signed me up for "Credit Watch" and I was told if I cancel within so many days of the "free trial period," I would not be charged. My cancellation email arrived on Dec 9th. My credit card was charged $17.95 on Dec 15 and then again on Jan 17th. In January, I clicked on a link in an email from Experian saying something had changed my credit score.

I was charged $29.95 to look at my report . Since they already had my CC info , I did not know they were charging me. I went online to pay my CC bill and found all of the charges. Experian customer service agreed to a partial refund. I got an email stating they had initiated a $15 refund. If I was eligible for the refund, I would receive it within the next billing cycle . I replied that was an unacceptable resolution. I wrote to my credit card company, Capital One, an email and included the cancellation email and they refunded everything Experian had charged me since the cancellation email.

Thank you, Capital One and ***, Experian. Experian is a totally fraudulent company! Their customer service agent had to keep going back to someone else for authorization and never could reach an acceptable solution. I threatened them with my attorney, my CC card company and the BBB. I wish I had seen this site before doing any business with Experian.

I had never even heard of Experian until I saw a charge from them on my online bank statement for 19.95. I never authorized such a charge, never ordered a credit report or visited their website. I called my bank and they froze my account, I can't file the claim since it's still "pending". Hopefully, it clears today, so I can go to my bank and file a fraud claim. I was so angry, I even called Experian last night.

The woman on the phone wanted me to give her my debit card number, so she could look into it! (Can you believe that?) She said that sometimes users enter the wrong card number and that this could be why I was charged (?) Really? How the heck would the expiration date and security code match up then? She told me that even if I got a new debit card through my bank that I would still be charged possibly monthly payments. I guess I should get a whole new account?! How is this company in business? They are scam.

On 12/7/11, Experian charged $17.95 two times, and again on 1/7/12 for a monthly membership that I do not recall signing up for. I called Experian and canceled, but they would not give me credit. I called Bank of America credit card, and they said Experian does not give credit. I think their website is deceptive and fraudulent, and I would not use their service again. I wasted $72.

I signed up for a "Free Credit Report" two months ago. I made sure to cancel within the "free trial" period because I did not want to pay any extra fees.

Last month I noticed a charge from Experian on my bank account for $14.95. I thought it was weird, but then dismissed it (don't ask me why, I guess I thought it was a mistake).

However, when I got a second charge this month, I got angry. I called Experian, and the customer service rep I talked to explained that when you cancel online, you don't cancel everything. You must call them to cancel the monthly charge. I do not remember seeing anything about this, or I would certainly have called to cancel that too. I feel that this whole thing is an underhanded scheme by Experian to get money out of the consumer. They bait us with the "free" claim, and it's anything but!

I signed up for a 30-day trial back in 2009 with them and had no problem canceling before I received a fee. Now, over 2 years later, I received two $1 charges to an Amex card (that I didn't even have in 2009) in December. Amex called me about the charge because it looked fishy. Because there were multiple instances of this charge they canceled my credit card and sent me a new one. I just got a $19.95 charge today. So I called Amex and they told me that the company has tried many times to charge me, but they blocked it (trying to go thru the old card). I called consumerinfo.com and they can't even tell me why I'm getting a charge because my account is closed. They said to call back tomorrow after the charge has cleared. This is crazy!

I noticed last month that I had two $1 charges from Experian that I had not authorized. I called my bank, and after the second call, they sent me to their fraud department. They cancelled the charges and issued me a new debit card.

First of this month, I received another charge from Experian. But this time for $19.95! I called my bank again; they sent me to the fraud department again. They cancelled the charge, but the charge still went through. They issued me another debit card (my second in one month). I called Experian, and they said they would "block" the account and asked if I knew a "Shannon **," which I did not. They said they couldn't give me their last name, because they too might be the victim of fraud. They said they would refund my money, which I'm still awaiting to see come through.

Beware, this is very illegal, and this concerns me how they were able to still charge my checking account even when a new debit card was issued! If this happens again, I will change banks.

Within a week, I noticed the $17.95 charge and immediately called and e-mailed customer service for the credit monitoring. I requested that the account be cancelled immediately and asked for an e-mail confirmation. I never received it. I called & e-mailed again. Marnee responded that "my request could not be handled via e-mail" and instructed me to call the number I'd been calling the last few days.

My request was to cancel the account. This is so much for your annual "free" credit report. If you want your score, go to one of the other agencies.

First off, as a recent Air Force veteran, I am ashamed that I fought for the rights of the people of Experian, who are clearly engaging in fraud and deception at the highest levels, blatantly stealing money from ordinary citizens of this country, which I consider to be un-American. That said, like so many others on this board, I signed up for a free seven-day trial to monitor my credit report via CreditReport.com (owned by Experian). I canceled the same night (after finding out they apparently "didn't have enough information" to deliver my report) and upon closer scrutiny, I have been charged $19.95 for the last two months. I keep close tabs on my finances as well as my memory's braincells, and I know for a fact I canceled within my "free" trial period.

After discovering this unauthorized/fraudulent charge, I tried logging in through creditreport.com, as well as other Experian websites. And whaddyaknow again! - the website says they have no record of my account. Unbelievable. I cannot speak to a human at Experian until to tomorrow and will update you with my results after I not only close my account (that may or may not exist), but also demand charges be reversed. But, judging from what others wrote, there's not going to be a pleasant conclusion.

I don't understand how this company is still in business, a company that is nothing more than a street criminal clothed in a Wall Street suit. I sympathize with the others on this board and encourage others who have been scammed to file/voice complaints through all possible avenues (their Facebook page, the BBB, FTC, Congressmen/women, etc. ) as I am doing right now. This is madness.

I was on the phone for 20 minutes and repeatedly asked to speak to a supervisor and I was ignored. I believe, by law, I'm allowed one free credit report from all 3 credit agencies per year, instead I've been overcharged $69.90 which was never authorized. Their website was misleading and if I knew they were going to charge me over $70.00 for something that should be free, I would have never supplied my debit card information to this company. I would like the money credited back to my account because I did not authorize this company to fraudently deduct $69.90 from my account.

As with many other complainants, I found charges on my credit card from creditreport.com (which appears to be owned by Experian) despite me not ever having signed up for or even heard of their service. I believe the problem is that they have very lax verification procedures for credit cards when people sign up for accounts. They do not verify that the name, address, phone number or CVC of the entered credit card actually match the information provided by the person who signs up for an account. Obviously, this is known about in criminal circles. Scammers know they can simply enter any valid credit card number when opening a creditreport.com account. I don't know if they do this simply to get the creditreport.com service without paying for it or if it provides some kind of avenue by which they can then exert more control over the card.

If I can't get them to cancel my service with a written letter, then I am going to have to cancel my credit card just to get them to stop billing it. For me, over $150 dollars; for Experian, apparently, there are no consequences.

Just today I looked at my bank account and found a charge from them. I called customer care again and explained my situation. The gentleman on the line didn't sound at all sympathetic or that he even believed me. I told him I had called and his response was "sure". He was very rude! I thought that was the end of it, until I got an email from my bank saying my account overdrafted on Nov. 3rd and my balance was negative $50! Experian charged my account $14.95 and my bank charged $35 for overdrafting (I only leave a limited amount of money in the bank and two days before, I had taken the money out to buy groceries). I emailed them demanding a refund, in which they did. They sent me another email saying they would refund me and cancel my membership, which should have already been done! I finally received the refund today. But now I have to work with my bank to make sure I don't get charged again for this "cancelled" membership. I called them and told them to stop and to take me off their member list on the 15th of October. But later, I noticed that my Citi card had been charged for $39.00 on the 24th of October--for what, I don't know! This was after I told them I want no part of them.

They charged me on two different cards. I have no idea how they got the second card number. I don't get it. And since they would not refund me the first card, do you think that they will with the second card? That is a charge of $70.00 to check my credit score for the month of October. I ended up having to call the corporate offices to be able to connect with customer service. They refused to do anything about closing the account unless I gave them the full credit card number she was using. The girl then told me they could not look up names, it had to be done by credit card number. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was put on hold then disconnected. I again called corporate offices and was sent back to customer service where I demanded to speak to a supervisor. She told me they needed the full credit card number. I hung up on her and called corporate again, asking for the public relations office. The operator asked what my problem was and she told me that my wife, as executor, could get the number from the credit card company and then call back to cancel her account. They make it very easy for you to get on their service and almost impossible to get off it.

I am following up on my complaint posted on 10/15/2011.

I received a one page letter/notification on Saturday, 10/22/2011, from Experian, stating, "We are unable to honor your request because you did not provide sufficient identification information for us to verify your identify. For instant and secure access to your free credit report, visit www.annualcreditreport.com."

First of all, as far as I know, I supplied all the information they asked for via the phone number given on AnnualCreditReport.com site, but since this correspondence said to go to the www.annualcreditreport.com site, again, I thought I would give it another try as well as dig out old credit reports from Experian, in case maybe they were asking identification questions that were on those reports that I answered incorrectly the first time around. But, this time, when I tried to get report from the AnnualCreditReport.com site, a note came up that they could process my request and to call a phone number for Experian, which directed me to go to experian.com/now, if I wanted immediate access to my credit report from them. Otherwise, the phone prompts seemed to not really give any information as how to get their report free, but a number of times mentioned that one could pay for a report.

Anyhow, I went to experian.com/now site to see if I could now finally get a copy of my free Experian credit report, and this site of course wants a person to sign up for their 7-day trial membership in Experian Credit Tracker service at $1 for such service for their credit report and credit score. I might have done so, but having already read other complaints here, I was leery of having to go through a lot of trouble to get them not to charge me on a monthly basis as I really am not interested in this service at this time. In the letter/notification they sent to me, they gave me instructions on how to write my report to them, but as I was only trying to get one to monitor it as it has been a couple of years, I am not going to bother because I already have spent too much time jumping through hoops with these people.

Unfortunately, through my experience and what I have read in the complaints, it seems as though Experian is making it difficult for us to get our free credit report in order to bilk money out of us. As I said with the first complaint, I did not have any issues with getting my other 2 reports, and to me, there seems to be something amiss here. This time around, I left the box unchecked for "I do not want an attorney to call me about my complaint" because if it is found out that Experian is involved in defrauding behavior concerning this matter, I would be happy to relate my experience with an attorney.

Meanwhile, I will just figure that I did something wrong when trying to get my online report from the www.annualcreditreport.com site and that my one free report for the year has been used up and I will try again next year. The strange thing is, the letter I received today does not state such, and actually says I can write to them to get my report. Therefore, it just seems to me that something shady is going on here, but what do I know? Good luck to those really needing to check up on their credit reports.

We have made repeated attempts to unfreeze our Experian report using their online tool. They do not provide any way to contact "customer service" to determine why we can't use their online tool.

In fact, there is no information about how to contact a human representative for their company on their web site. They also don't provide any information about how and when they would let us know that the account is unlocked once they receive all of the paperwork they require. I suspect that, although they claim that you can easily unlock your credit report online, their website is not set up to collect their fee for unlocking your report (although you can certainly purchase their credit report/protection products online). Credit bureau Experian advises me that their procedure is to classify 30 year amortization fixed rate home equity loans as INSTALLMENT LOANS, not as REAL ESTATE LOANS, as logic would suggest.

As a result, when a bank orders a report on a consumer with a home financed via a home equity loan, that consumer's credit report will show zero in REAL ESTATE LOANS, and will be grossly overstated in INSTALLMENT LOANS.

As installment loans are the classification of term loans used to finance consumer goods of middle life expectancy (up to five years ) those loans are expected to extend five years or less. Prudent lending calls for installment loans to be half or less of gross family income.

A home loan is logically categorized under real estate loans. As a well maintained home can be expected to have a usable life far beyond 30 years, at the end of a 30 year loan, one would have a valuable asset free of debt. Of significant value is the fact that while the family is paying for the home, it provides shelter for them, thus sparing them the expense of payning rent as a family who was not buying a home would have to do to have shelter.

Experian's process cascades into the banker's ratios showing an out-of-reason installment loan to gross household income ratio, while the real esate loan to gross household income shows to be zero.

This ratio imbalance results in the banker either refusing to raise credit limits and it may well force the family with impeccable payment history to agree to a loan with far higher interest rates than its repayment history warrants.

Convict these criminals. Sanction publicly the Experian company for their unapologetic involvement in these crimes. Do something. How many people have been suckered into this scam? Sharebuilder.com should not have had to pay for this crime. Only because of my excellent status was I given the consideration. Many others won't have this option.

I ordered my credit report and score online from Experian for $1 as they have a limited time offer. I've been trying to cancel the subscription/membership before I get charged $14.95 for each month that I continue my membership.

The problem is that the contact numbers they provide on their website, including the one for questions regarding the their limited offer, are not helpful. They have an answering system that does not provide the consumer with the option to speak with a live representative. I need to cancel my membership. I don't want to be charged for something I'm not going to use on a monthly basis. I took advantage of their limited offer because I wanted to learn what my credit score is.

So, I kept trying different numbers until Amy answered 877-903-2965. I explained to her my situation and she gave me another number to call, 866-673-0140 for customer service. I called that number only to find myself with the same answering system, which offered me different options and when I pressed the applicable option, it didn't recognize it. I tried different options and nothing, it kept repeating itself over and over again and then it said goodbye. So, I called Amy back and asked to talk to her supervisor because I needed help to cancel my membership. She answered in a rude/repugnant way saying that there was no supervisor and she then hung up on me.

I couldn't believe it! I'm very frustrated and very disappointed at Experian's lack of customer service/support. I'm beginning to question their honesty. I'm not sure why they're doing this. By the way, they do not provide the phone number to cancel the membership as part of their offer. They only mention that you can cancel anytime but they don't tell you how. I didn't get a chance to cancel the membership. I don't know how to cancel since they don't answer the phone. That's why I decided to complain about it instead.

Experian keeps charging my Visa $14.95 for a credit report I never requested or received. The first time was on 7/6/11. On 7/11/11 I noticed the charge and both my credit card company and I got on the phone with Experian. They claimed someone had stolen my credit card number and requested a credit report for someone other than me, the cardholder. They said they would reverse the charges and did on 7/12/11. However, there is now another pending charge from Experian for $14.95, which my credit company cannot dispute until the charge goes through.

Through all of this there are no other fraudulent charges. I do not think someone is stealing my card number to get credit reports; If an individual stole my card number they would be purchasing fuel and groceries. I think Experian just randomly charges peoples cards and hopes the customer doesn't see and dispute it. They have everyone's credit card numbers since they "monitor" peoples accounts. It's becoming a massive waste of my time and a huge irritation. Wondering if anyone else is experiencing this.

I obtained the information by calling the places that are on my report (that isn’t mine). I've also told them that the last four digits of my social security number had been changed on one report. Also, there are several addresses on there that I've never lived, and I even went as far as to telling them every state I've ever lived in since I was young. I also gave them the names that are on the accounts, and they aren't me.

After several calls and emails, still no reply. I even mentioned that there is a chance that maybe there was a mix-up of files, or maybe two files were combined; still, no reply.

I've called up the monitoring service. Equifax and TransUnion were given the same information that I gave to Experian. They were able to take care of the matter on their side, but I can't get any results from Experian. It is hurting my credit; I can't get more credits, if I want to. Every time I called, I got a machine or the representative stating that I would need to contact each "company" individually but was not given the numbers to call.

It became so bad that we were being charged $12.95 -$24.95, 3-5 times a month. I never knew when it was coming out and even put our account into the negative a few times. Finally, I cancelled the bank account and opened a new one. It has been 4 months and so far so good. I should not have to do that to stop charges. I'm writing this for my son. Last month he received 2 identical letters dated 4/22/11 from Experian. It said that a creditor had reported a change of name, address, Social Security Number. We immediately ordered a copy of his report. We found nothing whatsoever in the report. Nothing has changed as they claim. He only has 1 credit card and it's okay. So we wrote a letter asking what this was all about and who was this so called creditor? And since we had put a freeze on the account earlier, did they give out an info? My son put a freeze on his accounts as when he was laid off 2 years ago he applied for unemployment. He had to go through hell and high water when he found out that someone using his info had collected unemployment in California.

There were no answers, so this time I emailed them and the response was, "you don't belong to something Triple?" I immediately told them I emailed Experian not that whatever it is. No response. So just a few minutes ago, we received another email from Triple? at Experian. I responded the same way except that I said since you are Experian, aren't you(?), then you can transfer, forward or whatever to the correct party can't you? So now we wait for how long again? This morning I went to the government site and they told me to go to the FDIC site and make a complaint with them too. These people can make trouble for us when there is none. So, to whom do we complain loudly about them? Transunion is very nice and we always start with them. So now we wait.

Things haven't been going quite as well for Consumerinfo.com since the Federal Trade Commission caught up with them. I have been monitoring and correcting errors on my credit reports. I had one student loan that was being reported multiple times, sometimes to my favor and sometimes it was derogatory. I couldn't get the credit bureaus to investigate it. Finally, I contacted the ombudsman for the U.S. Department of Eduction. At this time, most of it has been corrected. Then, I decided to check my credit report with Innovis. I discovered that my student loan was being reported twice in that credit report but under a new name, CSLFC. One was derogatory and the other was satisfactory. I had no previous interaction of any kind with this company. I had no clue who they were and why they began reporting a student loan that is paid and in good status. The phone number and address they had was not accurate. It rolled over to Student Loan Services. The address on the credit report was on Bleeker Street in Utica, NY. And their representatives told me they knew nothing of this company.

I contacted the BBB and they had little or no information about this company and it had a rating of D-. The telephone number they had listed was a non-working number. The address was in Irvine, CA which brings me to the next issue. I was looking at the inquiries on my credit report. These were in Irvine, CA with no listed telephone number. When I contacted Innovis, I told the gentleman in customer service that I thought that by having no telephone number and an accurate address, there was little transparency about this company. I told him that I wanted to know who they were and why they had access to my credit report. I received no answer, but they had the two accounts removed from credit report. But now I see that they have been accessing all of my reports. I also told that supervisor in customer service that it looks suspicious that this company is accessing my credit report and taking student loan information and including it on the Innovis report after the loan was correctly updated.

It appears that they are taking, buying this information, and trying to collect on them. However, I can't say that with a fact. But I have seen other complaints by consumers stating that this company and student loans are showing up on their report in the recent past. Now it appears that Consumerinfo.com is CSFLC or affiliated with them. I feel that they should be highly scrutinized and that their business practices could be suspect. Consumers should be aware. I would contact all the credit bureaus and complain about this company having access to your credit report, especially since their contact information is incorrect or outdated or nonexistent.

I went to the Experian web site to purchase the credit reports and scores for my wife and myself. At the top of the home page in a large font it says "What's your credit score? Find out now for $1." Then it says in a red box "Limited Time Offer! Get your Experian Credit Score and Report for $1!" There is then a button to click that says "Get your credit report and score." I clicked on this button, filled out a few pages of information and purchase the reports for myself. I purchased a three bureau report for myself which was an additional 24.95.

For my wife, I just bought the 1 score for a dollar. When I checked my credit card statement this week, there were 2 additional charges of 14.95 each on my credit card from freecreditreport.com. I did not conduct any business with freecreditreport.com. So I called Experian, however I was not able to get through to a person. Their system will not let you talk to a person unless you have a report number. I did not have my report number so I could not contact anyone. I went through my email and found the receipt from when I purchased the credit scores and there was a different number on there. I called that number and found out that Experian, without any notice to the user, gives your business to freecreditreport.com.

When you purchase the credit report from the Experian web site, they actually turn the purchase over to freecreditreport.com without notifying the customer though the entire time the URL still says Experian. Freecreditreport.com then signs you up for credit monitoring for 14.95 a month even though you started out just purchasing your credit report for $1. I asked the person on the phone from freecreditreport.com when they tell you this on the web site. He said it is on the home page of Experian. I went to the home page with him on the phone. He said I had to scroll down and look on the left. As you can see, the home page of Experian had the large font at the top as I stated earlier advertising purchasing your report for only $1. The rest of the site has black text with a white background. If you scroll down a little there is a blue box with blue font that mentions that you are being signed up for credit monitoring. It is obvious they are intentionally trying to hide this text.

Here are my issues with this:
    1. Experian is passing their customers to another company without telling them and you give your personal information to this company.
    2. They are not selling you your credit report for $1 as the web site states. They are selling you a 14.95 monthly membership and by buying that they are giving you your credit report for $1. But that is not what the add says. It is a trick. They know consumers do not want that so they bait and switch it. There is nothing transparent about this membership purchase.

    3. When I called, they refused to refund my money. I had to scream and yell and threaten file a complaint and then they complied.I still filed a complaint with the FTC because this is clearly a scam to get people to purchase a membership they do not want. And Experian needs to become transparent about pushing their customers to freecreditreport.com and that they are buying a membership and not a credit report.

My score keeps improving and getting worse such that I have had to sign up for constant monitoring of my credit score to ensure that this stops.

Paying $14.95 in monthly debits from my card have not helped me and is an expensive price to pay to keep my credit in good standing. It doesn't change the fact that I continue to have to deal with things that were once removed and are put back on my report at any moment's notice. This is extremely frustrating. In addition, when I thought I was purchasing a one-month report, I found out the website had placed the purchase button for the 3 score report in front of the one-month report and I ended up being charged $24.95. This happened several times this year.

Since I complained here on this website, my account is now on "Special Status" at Experian and every time I call them, the customer service representatives refuse to speak with me and I get immediately transferred to a special person who has been designated to handle my account. In many cases I get a voicemail. This is unbelievable. Wall Street shareholders who own Capital One, HSBC etc., who charge consumers 30% interest rates for bad credit scores, are obviously benefiting from these inaccuracies. We, the consumers are the prey for their financial shenanigans.

Example: real estate mortgage which is still being paid for since 2005 is being reported as "discharged thru bankruptcy" this being one of the most damaging items to anyone's credit report.

Another example, we have moved to Las Vegas in 2005 and today they were still having my NYC address in their database as "current address," while my husband's last employer appears the one in NYC, after 5 years of working in Las Vegas. Over the past 12 months they have claimed to verify the item as accurate, or just outright ignore my certified letters. I have attempted to contact via phone but find it very difficult to speak with anyone. I have proof this item is wrong and they will not accept my court-produced documents. Due to this being a public record, there is nowhere else to dispute and the court acknowledges that they do not provide any information to the credit reporting agencies; unfavorable interest rates, denied loan applications, etc.

I have called the attorney that duplicated this information. They told me to just dispute it with the letter that they provided me. Great! Experian are crooks and extortionist, plan and simple. Now, that my opinion is out of the way here are the fact as they relate to me and this compliant. I went to Experian to get my report after I was declined for a pre-approved credit card. I did not want a free one as I was entitled after the credit rejection. I was willing to pay the $10.00 for the report, but I could not get the report because they said online that I was enrolled in credit alerts with them, this credit alert I tried and canceled with them 2 years ago. I try and call them and got the same thing others here have gotten. I could not get a customer service rep unless I had a credit report number from them.

So, I want back online and did some research to get a free report from them since I was in the first 60 days since my report check and declined credit, and what I found was interesting, and was all ready brought against Experian in 2005 by the Fed's for misleading and deceptive practices on their website.

FAQ's Q: "To confirm your eligibility and request your free or discounted copy of your credit report delivered by U.S. mail, please call 1 866. If you would like immediate online access to your Experian credit report and score for only $14.95, order now, which I could not get any way because of something they still had me on that I canceled 2 years ago. Another thing, my credit score with Experian also drops mysteriously even though I am never late, my balances get paid off, and no negative information has gotten on my report in years and while Equifax and Transunion keep going up.

The other mysterious thing I have been noticing is that when I apply for a credit card, it is being check now primarily from Experian and Equifax, when before it was check primarily with Transunion. Experian and Equifax, I heard, are now in bed together. Lastly, I subscribe to Life Lock, a great ID protection agency. Well, a few months ago I found out that Experian took Life Lock to court and Experian won, presumably because of who they paid and paid off. Then, I see a commercial for Experian offering services just like Life Lock. Experian just spent the money and took Life Lock to court just to level the marketing playing field and I lost a service for Life Lock which I really liked.

This company stinks and stinks bad. In 2005, they already had been sued for deceptive practices. These people are vile, and vile is not to strong a word for all I know about Experian and I do not know much in relatively. I would appreciate if a lawyer would contact me. If for the only purpose of disputing obviously wrong information on my last Experian report that Experian would not correct. I am being denied credit because Experian is not following the credit laws and interfering with my personal right to obtain credit from a accurate and truthful credit report.

My loan broker and Credco pulled my report on 7/7/10 and the 3 scores are much lower then what is shown to me on my Experian online account. Pulled report Experian: 715, Online: 736, TransUnion: pulled: 773, online: 762, Equifax pulled: 687, online: 732. These online number reflect a 7/2/10 update. I called Experian to ask why. I was given a boiler plate response, "Lenders use several different models to determine your credit number." I advised them yes, but they all obtain the information from the credit bureaus for their models. I was transferred 3 times and received the same answer.

Finally, Connie in National Consumer department transferred me to a voice mail of a person name Daniel. I left a message and I'm waiting for a call back. Credco uses the information from the credit bureaus for their credit model. Because of the lower credit scores reporting to them by Experian, Transunion and Equifax, I am getting a lower Credco score. My home loan interest rate is favoring the 5.3% instead of a 4.8%, costing me thousands of dollars in the long run. I do not understand why the online report (that I pay Experian to obtain) reflects a much higher credit score than the reports that are pulled by lenders.

Did the firms legitimately get that information from this type of agency or was this just a shot in the dark? If they are selling names, does this lower their legitimacy and even more so, is it a breach of confidentiality concerning my private information? Everything I have read, cautions using these types of agencies to lessen debt. Again if that is correct, I am more concerned about how they got this information. I explained to her that at no time during the ordering process did I read or agree to anything of the sort that I believe this to be a misleading and fraudulent. She continuously apologized only to follow it up with a "sorry we can't refund." I then told her to cancel my "membership."

She told me that it was because I was getting irate. Not once did I yell or swear although I certainly was frustrated. I suggested she go back, listen to the recording and see if she could tell the difference between the two. Years ago I had a fraud alert placed on my credit report (not by choice) by the 3 reporting services, Experian, Equifax and TransUnion. It has now become impossible for me to get a credit card because the services (mainly Experian) will not allow the companies to access my information. Some companies just asked me some personal questions to confirm my personal information and bypass this roadblock. However, banks (like Chase) presently stop the application process as soon as they run into the credit access block.

As a result I decided to remove the credit card fraud alert from my account. TransUnion did it expeditiously on the phone and it was done. Equifax asked for a form with personal information on it. Two weeks after I submitted what they asked for, I called and asked about my request status. They added another request which was for a copy of my SS number. They then told me it would be over a month after they received the SS number before they could remove the fraud alert. Excessive time in my opinion, considering TransUnion could do it immediately.

But the biggest problem of all has been with Experian. Their phone system will not allow you to talk to anyone unless you request a credit report first and then have a number they can reference. Of course, you need to give them a credit card number for them to keep in case you forget about the 7-day free credit report trial. After that you are automatically billed each month for $14.95. What a scam. I only want to remove the fraud alert which can be done very easily. Reading complaints about Experian on the Internet is enough to convince me to never give these people my credit card number. Ironic, isn't it?

According to the complaints, it seems they keep billing you and will not stop until you eventually need to seek legal help to stop this from continuing. I am not going on that list no matter what. So, my predicament is this. I just want Experian to remove the fraud alert, but by doing so, may expose myself to Experian fraud, something I won't do. My credit card application is in limbo with Chase because they cannot access the necessary information to complete the process. This will happen with any credit card I try to signup for if Experian is the credit service. Help.

Equifax affirms to be a credit bureau. Yet they scam, defraud and short-change the public with their actions. The general public should be appalled by theirs and the thousands of others who's personal credit is being handled by this company. This company is absolutely incapable of handling anyone's credit file.

There are calls where they gladly take your money from you, never receive what you paid for. I am no attorney but think it is illegal to take money for something that is never delivered.

There are calls where you are talked "down to" by the person on the other line. Generally they are from another country and have no idea of what you are speaking about. Today I called for the fourth time and was asked my credit card number so they could charge me again (for the fourth time in 2 months) have now had it. This company is a deplorable. Yet banks and lending institutions go by your score from these bunch of buffoons? What kind of people are these folks?

We are the people. As We the people, we also have rights. Our government has given these 3 major reporting companies entirely too much power. They have the power in their hands to destroy a person's life and they will not hesitate to do it. We the people, this is our credit and we the people should have the right to know who "taps" into our credit account for information. We the people should be able to access and view our account without having to pay monthly, weekly or even one time charges each time. The scumbags who view your/mine and ours credit (at no charge) know more information about our credit than we who own it do. We the people should not have to "question/interrogate and prove than the negative complaint on our credit record is not ours.

The business who put the negative account on our record in the first place should have to prove accountability for their actions and should be reprimanded for erroneous actions that provide disastrous consequences to one's credit. The way it now is we have to prove the account does not belong to us. Why? The only thing that happens is the scumbag company comes back and tells the credit bureau that the account is legitimate and it goes back on your record for 2-4-6-8 years. The credit bureau takes their word for the illegitimate debt. Not your word! It's your credit!! You should have the right for the erroneous and illegitimate debt/charge not to go on your credit report in the first place!

The 2-year illegitimate account is then sold after 2 years to another scumbag who turns the same account in as new (that has been on your account for 2 years already) and so forth and so forth. There is one illegitimate account that has been on our credit bureau file at Equifax for the past 16 years. The same bill. As soon as we protested, the account was sold to another scumbag who turned it in as new. On and on it goes. Most all these credit and collection scumbags work under more than one name.

They have several names to where as soon as you protest one account under that name, they change over to one of their other bogus agency names. One of the best scams is the ones where the scumbag attorney (who most likely has lost his license in your state or not licensed in your state) sends his demand letter so his letter will present fear and make people pay and it works sometimes. I urge you to look up this so-called attorney to see if they are licensed in your state and/or/if which state their license has been revoked.

Almost every constitutional right you were sworn to have is violated by this credit bureau along with the other two bureaus. They, the 3 major credit reporting bureaus are, by allowing a listing of an illegitimate charge against you and allowing unwarranted searches of your personal credit history, are not allowing you due process to prove you do not owe the illegitimate charge, therefore not allowing you due process. Your credit report is your personal file and shall not be taken for public use.

People wonder why they cannot obtain loans and when they see their credit and find unauthorized issues they never knew was there. From then on, they are scammed, conned, robbed and lied to.

Face the fact folks: Credit bureaus (TransUnion, Experian, Equifax (CSC) make more money off bad credit than they do off good credit. It is in their best interest to keep people's credit bad. That is their motive. Pure greed! Until we can get the federal government to enforce the laws, they made and/or until we can get our federal laws changed to help us. We will see it get worse unless there are people who are willing to stand up, fight against them and change the way they do their shady business!

Stand up and fight! Do not allow TransUnion, Equifax or Experian to continue to destroy and damage your reputation and character. They have to be stopped!

I printed out a free credit report, but it did not have a report number on it. I called their main telephone number at 888-397-3742. It is an automated system. I wanted to file a dispute using their automated system but it asked for a report number which I did not have. Since I did not have a credit report number, I could not file a dispute. The same thing happens when trying to file a dispute online via their website Expedia.com. I did an online search for any other telephone numbers that I could call to speak with an actual person instead of a computer. I found their technical support line at 800-854-7201. The person told me that since my question was about my personal credit report, I would have to call the main telephone number. I told him that I needed a credit report number in order to file a dispute over the telephone.

He understood my predicament but said that there is nothing that he can do about it. He told me to leave a voice message by calling the main number. I asked him how to get to the voice mail system. He tried to access it himself but could not find it, and he is from technical support. If technical support cannot find it, how do you expect customers to find it? He said that he has already received a handful of calls regarding this same issue. In other words, some people have received credit report numbers while others have not.

I told him that there must be some type of bug on the online system. He said that their technical support service is not connected to the technical support service overseeing the main telephone number voice operating system or even the main website. I told him that this does not make any sense and he agreed. What is the point of having a technical support service that is not connected to everything? How can they help anybody? It truly does not make any sense.

I left them my contact information, and hopefully, I will hear from them soon. From my experience with this company so far, there needs to be a complete overhaul of their customer and technical support services. The problem is that this company is a bureaucracy that has little if any interest in providing better services to its clients. Since there are only three major credit bureaus in the United States, there is hardly any competition out there. That is why if feel that the government needs to step in in order to make sure that they are providing fair and prompt services to their clients. Otherwise, this will go on forever. Thank you.

I recently checked my debit card bank statements, which I should have been checking for over a year, and noticed a charge of $14.95 that was happening once per month for over a year now. I did a search online and found out that it was Experian Direct (there are hundreds of complaints about this online). I went to my bank & asked to block the transaction. They told me it cannot be blocked, because the company was charging it through my ATM Debit card and not through the account itself. I had to cancel my card and re-issue a new checking account.

I have never signed up for a subscription & never went online for a free credit report ever. I sent an email out today to Experian & got an automated email back saying to refer to their FAQ page. I have no idea how they got access to my account information. The complaints online all said that the number itself doesn't work. I am trying to get records from my bank prior to 2009, but so far I have been charged $179.40. How can this be solved?

Under both the Bank of America Privacy Assist product and Experian's 3n1 product my credit score is reported anywhere from 10 to 100+ points above what the lenders I've approached for a mortgage are receiving. These products as well as every other credit monitoring report product advertises. I cannot get a mortgage because of (1) low credit score--at least the one the lenders see and (2) too many inquiries. Well, duh, how else can I get an accurate score? I entered into a contract to purchase a house in November based on the BoA Privacy Assist scores and they will not give me a mortgage and I've been banking with them for years.

All my debts were paid off in April of 2009 including a credit card with them. Yes, there were delinquencies and some medical collections, all taken care of and never to be repeated. Any bank I approach says they cannot use the report from BoA Privacy Assist but must make their own inquiry. Another hit on ye old inquiry tally and a ding on the score. I am trying to build a record as I really think the industry is either lying/falsely advertising their products and/or are discriminating against low-middle income people through false credit scores.

I have two things on my credit report that were taken off once and then put back on. I have disputed this and they do nothing but re-verify. Also they have changed the off date on one of the other items. Twice now it was supposed to be off in October of 2009. Now it has changed to February 14, 2010. This is against the law. I have disputed that and they also just verify but don't take these off. Please help. This has stopped me from buying a house or a vehicle.

I ordered a credit report in 08/2009. I agreed to pay a one-time fee. Since that month, I have been charged monthly $14.95 for credit monitoring. I called back and talked to Experian representative and manager. They explained to me what happened and how I got charged $14.95 monthly. According to their explanations, in order to get a credit report, a consumer has to agree to a Triple Advantage credit monitoring. I recalled that these information were not clear at the time I ordered my credit report, otherwise I would not order the service.

I lost $14.95 x 4 for the service that I did not know about or agreed upon. The agent at Experian also offer to refund only one month as courtesy. My reasoning is if they admitted to their wrong doing for 1 month, then why not 4 months. They said it's the company policy. I spent 1/2 hour talking to them and believe this is a bureaucratic, high-end internet thief that Experian is doing. We can't let this happen to innocent people.
