My three cats just love Temptations. There are a variety of flavors which includes a dairy flavor. The price is perfect around $1.99 per package and you can very often find them on sale. Most of all Temptation treats are just the right size. Cats have little mouths and they have a hard time eating large treats.

I really like the Fancy Feast. Small cans are the amounts that I needed to feed my cats. There is no waste. The only thing wrong is it is expensive. I wish they would make more variety packages. They make any 12, 24 and 32 can sizes.

I have feed these to my cat for years unfortunately now that I have read the reviews. My cat is so addicted to these, that he use to wake me up all night long to get some. So, I stopped giving him treats for a while. He will not eat his food unless there are some on top. He recently was attacked by a dog and his liver enzymes were up. I wonder now after reading the reviews is that maybe it is from the cat treats and had nothing to do with the dog attack at all. I am pissed off to no end that they would put this dangerous treat on the market. Here I thought I was giving my cat something good, only to find out I've been poisoning him.

My cat was 13 2 months old. I had to euthanize him last week. He had been throwing up for years. Vet. Said hairballs. Week before he threw up every time he ate then he stopped eating, running, pooping. Back and forth to the Vet. Did a xray. His colon was packed and he was in renal failure. We decided to euthanize him because he had suffered so long already. I am 60 and have owned all kinds of animals and have never euthanized any this young. Now my 9 year old cat is throwing up taking him in tom. to the Vet. I am devastated that the USDA and whomever else would allow a company to kill this many animals and not stop production of this deadly Treat. Please Pray for my other boy.

She gets both dry and wet food. The cat eats like a horse, but has always been a little cat (She weighs about 6 lbs, never has she weighed more than 9 lbs.). She loves them.

My baby girl is 17 yrs old and suffers from kidney disease. She has been on a high end expensive dry food for years, along with wet food that I spike with 1/2 tsp fiber to keep things “regular”. She was doing well and I decided to buy Temptations treats as something extra to give her. She immediately LOVED them and responded like they were, well, crack. She could not consume them fast enough!!

She would freak out at the sound of the bag, climb you, bite your fingers thinking you had one and I thought it was so cute! Suddenly, she stopped eating her dry food at all. Would not touch it. She would still drink the gravy from her wet food and eat some of it, but she was not eating enough. All she would eat much of, were these crack treats. So I gave them to her! Something was better than nothing, right?! Wrong. She began vomiting white foam regularly and was straining to urinate and defecate in the litter. She would try and then cry and cry, then vomit. She was very lethargic and slept often.

Something was just not right! She drank little water and all she wanted and the only thing that perked her up momentarily was TEMPTATIONS TREATS. I did some research and came across this forum, I could not believe how many reviews echoed what I was experiencing!!! I immediately stopped giving her the treats and took her to the vet for a full work-up. ($500+) She had lost 2+ lbs in 6 mos and had a severe urinary tract infection from E.COLI!!! The only thing changed in those 6 mos were the introduction of these treats.

She has been off the temptations treats for 3 weeks, and on antibiotics for the E. Coli infection. She is eating her dry food again! Thank goodness! Drinking water regularly and seems to be herself. I thoroughly believe these treats would have killed her if I’d continued to allow her to eat them! THEY ARE POISON!!! I hope she has no long term effects as a result. This company needs to be shut down!!

I too have been giving my cats these horrible treats (Whiskas Temptations). They too have become addicted after giving them these for several years. I lost one of my cats back in September to what we thought was a thyroid problem which she had never had before. She had to be put down after losing so much weight and going into liver failure. Now, one of my other cats is losing weight and throwing up. I finally researched them and was shocked to find so many others with the same issue. I threw all the treats away and will never buy anything from them again, I just hope my cat gets better now. My older cat (14) has been pawing at me all the time, I thought he was just missing his friend but it's addiction. I am sure.

I have had several cats throughout the last 40 years and have been loyal to Whiskas tinned cat food but have noticed a decline in the meat quality over the years. At the beginning my cats loved the jelly meat tin - when opening the tin there was no horrible smell, very little jelly and my cats loved it till empty. Then the company changed the content and my cats would not eat it anymore. There was a bad rotten smell when opening the tins and my cats are very intelligent - they knew I was serving an inferior product so I had to give those two cats fresh mince (as well as cat biscuits and occasionally our leftover food) till they passed away.

After those two I had a beautiful cat Max who had been the family's favorite pet and I again bought Whiskas tinned food - he liked Lamb and Kidney, and Tuna and sardine. These two were deadly to him as he got blockages in his urethra canal and could not pass urine. The first time it happened he became very bloated and just laid on ground in agony. The vet unblocked his urethra and all was well till a few months later it happened again. This time the vet told me not to feed anything with gelatin as this was causing crystals in his urethra blocking his urinating. So we were strict with his feeding but he lost a lot of weight because he didn't like the food we were giving him and he ate very little. After a few months I felt sorry for him and gave him the Sardine and Tuna tin -- big BIG mistake -- it happened again and this time the vet could not unblock his urethra canal and my beautiful Max had to be put down. (I am crying as I write this).

After Max I did not want any more pets as it was too painful on the whole family after losing him. Anyway a few years later I came across 2 rescued kittens and I could not part with them and so they have a diet of dry, wet and fresh cat food. I introduced them to Whiskas Sardine and Tuna and they liked it. But over these past few years the company changes the recipe (for the worse not for better, has way too much gelatin and smells bad) and my cats have been leaving the tinned food on the plate SO ONCE AGAIN I have changed over to Fussy cat tinned Tuna Loaf and Dine tins and they seem to like it. My two cats are huge and they go through 1 tin a day between them so Whiskas is going to lose my loyalty for the next 5-10 years.

Temptations Dry Cat Food - My cat has been addicted to these "treats" ever since she was little. I used to feed her only this. Then I thought something was odd about this craving, read the label, sent in a request for cat food evaluation and got nothing. She has been throwing up, but there was usually a hairball, so I figured it was the hairball. I started giving her wet food with less of this "treat". She will sit the entire day and not eat the wet food, until I guess she is starving, then she will eat it. She started biting me. I cut it down and down. She looks very unhappy when she doesn't get it.

Today I gave in and fed her more of the treat. Note: my cat is unfortunately not very affectionate. Today, after MORE of this junk, she's all loving and happy with me. It's called behavioral reinforcement... I like her being nice. I feed her the treats. Today I found this information just in time. Thanks to this website and helpful posts. Thank-you. Thank-you! I am disgusted. Who knows how bad her pancreas is now.

Ate Temptations for 3 Weeks then Fell Ill - It's impossible to say with 100% certainty whether or not Temptations triggered pancreas issues for my cat... but I will say -- $700 in vet bills later -- the timeline perfectly aligns. Week 1 she became obsessed with the treats... a week later she started spontaneously vomiting and completely lost her appetite, which is very unlike her. She was given medication and is off the treats: hasn't thrown up since. Unfortunately the pancreas flair-ups will remain, so she is now on extremely expensive food. Just happy it didn't end worse. No matter how much your cat loves these treats, don't give in!!! Not worth it. My cat never got excited about treats or food, so I loved seeing her freak out for these snacks... which now makes me even more suspicious that something was up with them!

I even had to take Nikita to the vet for 130.00 Carmella stopped eating the other food and acted like a drug addict for those treats after not buying them for awhile due to the fact Carmella acted so addicted. Everything was okay with them. As a treat we bought them again and that's when it dawned on us. It was the treats because they started peeing 20 plus times a day and Carmella acted nuts. I just found out today when my wife told me after talking to my mom that same thing happened to her cat peed all the time run out of treats back to normal then noticed the peeing all day after the treats.

The fact Whiskas Cat Food can still get away with selling this garbage says a lot about the amount of inspecting that goes on in the pet food industry. My Cat, who just turned 4 years old this month, has ALWAYS been addicted to these cursed treats. It got to the point she wouldn't eat anything else, thus she became constipated from no moist in her diet. I tried switching her to a number of other treats, but she would go through withdrawal without Temptations (any flavor).

Now, she's gotten worse. She currently has UTI, and now a series of other health problems thanks to these treats. I was finally able to get her to eat some wet food tonight, I think now she's realizing they're making her ill. Will never buy this garbage again, it's done nothing but made my cat addicted and suffer. This company needs to be shut down, it's DANGEROUS for your cats!

I was convinced there was an addictive component to Temptations cat treats. Our two cats were relentless in bugging me to give them their "evening treat." If permitted, they would eat the cat treats instead of any other cat food, wet or dry. I am just now reading what other cat owners say about this product. I've tried weaning them off the treats but nearly lost my mind trying to ignore their relentless demand i.e., in-my-face meowing, rubbing on my legs. One cat would sit next to me and poke me with his paw, again and again and again. If I yelled for him to stop, he would poke me and run and then do it again! I received my order of pet food delivered from an online company. I ordered 4 flavors of Temptations treats, but something is different - the cats won't eat them at all. They seem confused but won't back down with their demands. Now I want to know what the real story is here. Has someone made changes?

Whatever the ingredients there must be excitotoxins in them because their personalities changed. All three cats stopped eating their regular food. They were becoming sick too which is why I stopped buying. One cat pees blood now. One vomited for three days straight & the third cat was turning into a demon.

Don't feed these to your cats. Some people have stated that their cats have died & I refuse to give my money to a large company who puts profits before safety. Just like the chemicals put on Doritos to keep you munching and munching. The Mars company is making the poorest quality cat food and treats. We now buy beef lung for our cats - much healthier and you know what the ingredients are? Beef lung that's it! Don't kill your cat with Temptations cat treats!! Don't buy them and tell that company it's bad bad bad. Shame on them.

He will end up crying (meowing) for them if not given and will only begin to meow louder if I did not give them to him. He also has had several incidents of vomiting from these cat treats. It's very clear to me with the fact he doesn't eat much of anything else besides these treats, vomits shortly after, and everything that comes up is the Temptations Cat Treats treats. This company needs to recall their crap b/c it's making our kitties sick and making them die! I fully expect a resolution from this company and I will be pursuing them to pay for his cremation bill.

My mother's cat is 18 years old, will be 19 January 2018. He has eaten Whiskas cat food his entire life, with some changes occasionally. When his food was changed, he would often throw it up because of his sensitive stomach. Especially in his old age, Whiskas cat food is the only cat food he can digest without any complications. After a bladder infection, he was put on a vet diet and couldn't stomach it longer than a month.

Now I live on my own and own my own cat. After trying various foods, we have found the once again Whiskas is the perfect food for him. We were buying another brand for most of his life, until he started losing weight at an alarming rate. Once we switched him to Whiskas dry cat food he gained his weight back and remains at a healthy weight with shiny soft fur. I've read a lot of reviews on here linking Whiskas to the death of their cats, but I can't say I personally believe Whiskas cat food is at fault. Both cats, aged 18 years and 2 years old are healthy and strong and they enjoy their Whiskas diet. Wouldn't change it.

DO NOT feed your cat Temptation treats. I thought I was being kind of ridiculous when I googled "cat addiction to Temptation treats" until I saw how common it was and how DEVASTATING the results can be. At one point my cat stopped eating his regular food, food that he was OBSESSED with and would gobble down in one sitting. A normally super social, friendly, and talkative cat, he would not eat, he would go into a room and sit under the bed for hours, then come out and sit next to the cabinet that had the treats.

It was kind of absurd how different his behavior came to be. I wish I was exaggerating when I said he seemed like an addict. My boyfriend and I joke about it now, but it was seriously alarming. We cut him off completely and threw out all the treats once I found so many articles online. He was NOT happy at first and I would have to sit down and watch him eat his dinner to make sure he was eating.

Within a few days he was his normal self, screaming at us for cans of his food. We give him "Greenies" as treats occasionally, which he enjoys to a normal degree. We did not change anything other than the treats and within a few days, it was ALL he would eat and his life literally revolved around it. He would cry for them, stare at the dresser they were in, and refused to eat his meals.

It does not matter how badly your cat wants these treats. These treats will harm your cat's health. I have no idea what kind of garbage is in them and why on earth they are still being made is beyond me. It literally enrages me that the company has these on the shelves, people are buying them without knowing and their pets are becoming sick.

We have been feeding our cats Temptations for years with no problems till recently when I noticed one of our cats, (a female) threw up 20 minutes after eating her treats. Which is highly unusual for her. There was one day prior to the puking event that, that she turned her nose up to eating her treats which was odd and I figured it was the Mixed flavored Temptations that she just did not care for. I got her the Turkey flavored ones instead. She ate these but puked 20 minutes later so it was then that I went out and bought a different brand of treats because I feared there might be something wrong with the Temptations brand.

Everything was fine. No puking for a week while I fed her a different brand of treats until I gave them Temptations turkey treats again. She refused to eat the Temptations again. And again within 20 minutes after eating the treats one of our other cats threw up. After this experience I decided to do some research and found this site with all sorts of reviews similar to what we had been experiencing.

So in September 2016 a cat followed my daughter (grown and doesn't live with me) to my house and he looked still really young but well taken care of so I decided to keep him and put up found papers. No one ever came so after two weeks he got really hurt by a raccoon and I didn't have enough money for a vet so I had to turn him over to our local pound. Never really wanting or really even liking cats I was kind of glad to be rid of him but his eye got hurt really bad (blind in his left eye). I started thinking if the pound has not put him to sleep. It's going to be hard c to find a blind cat a home so I went to get him. Now Baby is just that my baby and as mothers often do I try not to but I spoil him. He is a real picky eater so I thought I would get him some treats Whiskas temptations and at first he liked them but after a few times given to him he no longer would eat his real food.

He would wake me up in the morning crying crying crying until I got out of bed, I would go to his food bowl and add it started to know it would be sitting full after about a week or so. When I would give him the treats he would start acting really crazy running around the house biting me, scratching me and he has never done anything of that before. I'm really worried. I know after reading all of the things I've read about it tonight looks like my little baby is going to have to go to kitty rehab JK but he is going cold turkey because he will never get another treat from whiskas.

If anyone else has had this problem please please write a review and tell me what you did and how well it worked or if it didn't what do I do? I'm so worried I might have already made him sick cause I would give him a pretty good amount everyday just so he would eat. So if anyone has done this and successfully stopped please write about it. Thank you. PS my name is Tammy and as you know his name is Baby.

But for days after I was pretty sure she was a goner fortunately in the last two days almost 4 since I have given her any treats, it seem that she is slowly bouncing back. However still not a hundred percent. I just hope that she can recover as well as not have causing any long-term damage. I can't afford to have things chemically tested to prove any wrong doing on the company's part but I can say what I have witnessed with my own eyes. Once I got home my daughter had researched the Temptation treats and was horrified. We recently purchased the 10 kg dry food for adults. It is AWFUL. Unfortunately we threw the bag away since we usually store the cat food in plastic containers to keep it fresh. We have 3 cats. One is pure Persian cat, the other 2 are common breed, and we faced those problems first with our Persian cat, since usually they're very picky kind of cats. But when we started seeing some major hair loss, non-stop appetite, we thought our cats are just being, well cats. But when the vomiting started, that's when we realized it wasn't just a typical cat behavior, especially that we had cats all of our lives, and our current cats have been with us since 2009, so we could say we know pretty much about feline's attitudes... So this is a very bad experience within your products and we will not purchase it anymore, nor recommend it. Even if I see someone purchasing it, I will gladly share my negative experience.

I have been feeding my cat Whiskas and have had no problems. I even give her the Temptations Treats and have had no problems but I give them to her rarely. I came across this site by accident and started reading the comments and I'm horrified by what I have been reading about the Temptations Treats. I have 2 packs of this left and I'm throwing them out. Not going to take a chance and poison my cat. I remember a few years ago when there was a pet food recall because the pet food companies were getting one of the ingredients from China. If I remember it was the gluten. I'm pretty sure that is what killed my last cat since we were feeding her Fancy Feast and that was one of the foods on recall. China has little if no standards so why do companies buy from them? It's gotten to the point you don't know what is good and what isn't. Any food that poisons your pet should not be on the market, so why is it?

Now I'm wondering if I should stop feeding my cat any Whiskas food. I have wet and dry Whiskas and my cat likes it. I've just read also that a lot of the foods that vets recommend aren't that good either. Seems that the best diet for cats is a raw diet which means raw meat but I can't afford that and I'm not sure about raw meat either. The article said even raw pork. I wouldn't eat undercooked pork myself since I always heard that you can get tape worms from that so I wouldn't feed raw pork to my cat. My cat isn't much for people food either so now I'm in a dilemma of what to feed my cat.

I know a lot of pet food has what they call crude protein. What the heck is that? Meat byproducts which means it's crap. I'm starting to think I will have to start cooking for my cat. I'm not comfortable with the raw meat idea and I doubt my cat would eat raw meat. She doesn't even like steak. She does love real turkey though. If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate it. We took her in, they x-rayed her, found no blockage but she was extremely dehydrated and the bill was 604.00. Today, her brother has the same thing. I bought a plastic container of Temptations MixUps and I started offering them to my kitties three days ago. That is the only different thing they have ingested. The hospital suspected that was the problem. I think they are tainted. They even smell strange.

Yesterday we had to put down our three year old siamese. Vet said she had become either constipated or there could have been a blockage that had formed in her upper intestine, or both (not passing stools due to the blockage). She was vomiting her food and losing weight for two weeks. Her energy level plummeted fast the last three days. I think she stopped drinking water as well and made no use of the litter box. I was reading up on siamese cats when I came across this link to the treats and other stories, and I'm sad because she was a huge fan of the beef temptation treats. She had them daily for the last year or so, with a significant increase the last few months because she opted for the treats over her normal food most of the time.

I think back to how often she would throw up the last year. I assumed it wasn't anything too bad as she did favour chewing random things and I'd find them in her vomit, but now after reading these comments about the cats who have died especially after eating the temptations due to renal failure etc. I am thinking it wasn't the best choice to buy those treats for her in the first place. Recently, mid-Sept. or so, we bought a bag of Temptations cat treats. She probably had all total a couple of handfuls of the treats. I remember seeing a random article about a recall of those treats so I threw the rest of the bag away and didn't think anything further.

UNTIL we started seeing the signs that other owners have seen. She became lethargic, threw up, couldn't control her bladder. Vet said it was kidney failure. We had to put her down. We were devastated. Suddenly, I was reminded of the random article I read and decided to look it up. Sure enough, I'm pretty certain this is what happened our beloved kitty. I haven't told my husband of my suspicions because he would be very very upset and never forgive himself. Our cat was our daughter's best friend. We need to tell as many people as we can. The time from which I saw a night and day difference in my cats ability to cognitively know anything about its surroundings or awareness was the moment I fed him temptations treats. I mean the timeline of his zombie like appearance (which was ONLY three days) lined up with when I started giving him the treats.

THREE days after... The vet advised that he was suffering, we could put him down or go through unpredictable outcome of major medical attention. The night before we decided to bring my cat to the vet I did a vague Google search on his symptoms and immediately brought me to forums that brought my attention to the temptations treats. RENAL FAILURE... is what was stated from others that fed their pets the same treats. I gave my cat the treats on Saturday September 24th 2016... At one time my parents had 3 healthy male tabby cats; one (Doc -age 5,) the other (Banjo - age 9) and (Little Guy - age 7.) Doc was a stray cat I found when I still lived with my parents growing up and brought home when he was a kitten. Banjo and Little Guy were purchased at a pet store. Banjo and Doc were two of the best pets I've ever had, but especially Doc. He was my best buddy through some tough times for me when a girl I was going to get engaged to broke up with me and my Dad losing his business. Doc was much like a dog in the way that he loved contact with humans and needed to be sitting on or near you at all times.

I remember I would prop him up like a person to sit on the couch next to me while I watched the Chicago Cubs and he would sit like that the whole game until you picked him up again to put him somewhere else. His head would move back and forth with the baseball; I'd never seen a cat like that before and honestly wasn't a big cat fan until I found him. Banjo was their father figure and a fearless leader; always looking after the other two and cleaning them. He had a majestic proud looking demeanor, always striking stoic poses, crossing his two front paws while he sat. We would always joke that he thought he was a lion. We loved all 3 cats including Little Guy, but he was scared and finicky about everything; not the friendliest cat ever.

My parents made the huge mistake of getting him declawed (which I do not agree with,) because he destroyed all of my Moms furniture. After being declawed; became scared of everything and spent a lot of time hiding under the bed. My parents after realized they made a bad decision and never did it again. We gave him as much love as he would let us give him.

We have always fed all 3 cats high quality wet/dry food from brands like Merrick their entire lives on a consistent basis until one day my dad brought home some Whiskas Temptations cat treats for them. Besides Little Guy; the other two cats liked the treats so much that just crinkling on the package (the sound the bag makes when you're trying to open it,) would stir both cats into a stage of manic frenzy. We would always joke and call it kitty crack because of the addictive behavior it created in our cats. They would lose it if they didn't get their Temptations and would be insane while gobbling them up. Sometimes I would put wet food out and they wouldn't eat it, but walk by the cabinet we kept the Temptations in and make weird meowing noises until we gave them the treats like spoiled brats.

It was really abnormal, but made them very happy. At that time we should have started looking more into the ingredients and or stopped it altogether. We did try to stop feeding them the treats few times, but they became unbearable to be around when they didn't get their Temptations. On the other hand, always a rouge; Little Guy would not eat them for some reason, no matter which flavor we purchased. Even in light of all of that; I never thought it was anything fatal to worry about because I get the same way with coffee sometimes.) It was entertaining to watch until things took a harsh turn for the worst.

We didn't change anything about the way we fed Banjo and Doc other than giving them a small handful of treats once or twice a day in between Merrick style wet/dry foods. On and off during the 6 months they were eating Temptations; Doc and Banjo would have hydration issues and we had to had to feed them this electrolyte vet prescribed drink during the 6 months they were being fed Temptations, but it never dawned on us it was the treats we were feeding them that was making them sick, so we tried every other thing to make them better to no avail.

Towards the end of the 6 month period we were feeding them Whiskas Temptations, both Doc and Banjo began to get really sick and then in final passing away. There was definitely a noticeable pattern of escalating illness from the moment we started feed them the Temptations, but again never even crossed our mind it was the treats that were to blame. Banjo died first and 3 weeks later Doc passed. The cause of their death according to the vet was acute renal failure.

Little Guy ended up living till 12 and as I stated earlier (was the only of the 3 cats that would not eat the treats.) So, in the end it's pretty obvious what happened because with a different ages, upbringings and personalities; the only common thread between Doc and Banjo was their diets. All of those variables and identical symptoms and times of death. I know to most people would say, "they're just cats and get over it," but It was really devastating for our family that felt like they had just lost 2 best friends. They became part of our little family and died way too soon. This is something you can avoid by not feeding your cats Whiskas Temptations.

I've since then have told this story to all of the stores near my apartment that carry pet food and they have taken Whiskas Temptations off their shelves besides one larger chain store. I would recommend doing the same and if we all work together; can saves the lives of quite a few of our furry friends out there. This is not an isolated incident either. I've read hundreds of the same stories online that had almost identical results, so again share this story as much as you can and urge your local stores that carry pet food to take it off their shelves. Since the FDA won't ban the product or at least put a warning on it; we can stand up to this big corporation, inform and be proactive enough to make a big difference.

Thanks for reading this and hope it helps you and many others. Because of my families tragic losses; I am starting a Facebook page dedicated to informing cat owners about the toxic nature of the product called, "Whiskas Temptations will kill your cat." Please like and share this page to spread awareness. I know it's a morbid sounding name, but it's the truth. Thanks again for reading, have a great day!!

The second cat loved it but he threw up what he ate overnight several weeks ago. Other than that he was fine. Then last Wednesday/Thursday I gave him the remaining 6-7 treats, which was within the feeding guidelines. Within 24 hours he was lethargic and his urine had a dark yellow/brown color. I didn't make the connection to this product and found this website documenting all the cases of acute renal failure and illnesses here when it was too late.

I had assumed since this product was made in Canada it was safe. I'm very careful about making sure all my animal's food and treats are made in the USA. This sweet boy who I had for almost 10 years and was healthy in every way had to be euthanized. My vet's concern after looking at the list of ingredients was did the chicken come from China. The chicken jerky for dogs wasn't that long ago... chicken that came from China! It doesn't matter if some cats are able to eat this treat without any issues. If any cat is getting acutely sick after digesting this product it should be removed from the shelves immediately!! There is nothing more devastating than to have to watch what was a healthy animal one day get so acutely ill that the only recourse is euthanasia.

They then were lethargic and had no appetite for an entire day. We were in our motor home where they have traveled with us many times and in over 3 years nothing like this has ever happened. They were perfectly fine before they ate the Temptations, and I gave each cat only 4 tiny pieces. The vomiting started within a half hour, maybe even less. After 36 hours they are no longer sick and they finally ate a tiny bit of vet prescribed ID diet a short time ago and seem to be holding that down OK. I only hope there is no long lasting effect. I strongly urge everyone NOT to buy this food.

I cut everything out of her diet that I had been giving her and gradually re-introduced things one at a time for a few days. That's how I realised that it was definitely the biscuits causing the problems. I don't know what Whiskas have put into them, but I would not recommend them to anyone. I feel it's about time that Whiskas started to look at why their products are making so many cats ill.

My daughter had a pet Persian cat, light beige in color, that was so fluffy and big in size that it was sometimes mistaken for a dog, and was so gentle with children that even if they accidentally stepped on its tail and hurt it, it still wouldn't scratch them. Its food was Whiskas, so we always had that cat food in stock. The cat suddenly fell sick one day and couldn't be revived by the vet, due perhaps to accumulated fur ball in its stomach, but there are those who say that a cat's kidneys can give out from chemicals it has consumed. Too bad 'cause there was a heartbroken schoolgirl who lost her beloved pet.

About two months ago I gave Temptations Treats to two of my rescued cats. They were brothers and 15 years old. I had them since they were 5 months old. About four days after eating the treats they both started vomiting, stopped eating and had diarrhea. My third cat who doesn't like the treats was and is doing just fine. I took them to my vet for blood work and an exam. It was determined that they had symptoms of salmonella and were in renal failure. I was given antibiotics for both cats, special food, and anti-nausea injections to be used as needed. They both seem to get better after about a week. A week later all of the symptoms started again. This went back-and-forth for two months. Ben died first and fairly quickly. Lewis gradually got thinner and thinner and I had to put him to rest 2 weeks ago.

I had read on Facebook about the connection of Temptations Treats to renal failure soon after their first symptoms appeared. I immediately threw out all of the treats. They were the only low quality food that I gave my cats. I did file a complaint with the Whiskas corporation that is owned by the Mars corporation. Naturally nothing was done because I didn't have any proof. They never even called the vet who treated my beloved Ben and Lewis. I tell everyone that I know who has cats to never buy this product or feed it to their cats.

I have purchased and fed Temptations Cat Treats to my cats for years. They love them, so I was happy to purchase. Recently one of my 4 cats began to act erratic. Tearing out hair, licking metal window sills, and scratching like crazy. I checked for fleas. There were none. She was a stray I took in about 15 years ago, an indoor cat strictly. I never saw old age symptoms like this so I was stumped.

Well, long story short, I lost her. In the end she tore out hair to bear skin and was weak, and in a stupor. My heart told me to put her to peace, which I did. I did not even think it could be Temptations Treats that caused those crazy actions, since all the other cats ate them. But, as I read and research more, I know it was probably the treats. She was the cat with the sensitive stomach. She would throw up food, and treats but I did not attach the illness to the treats. I have no proof either, since she is gone and this Temptations Treat poisoning was just brought to my attention. But I would say it makes sense for ALL CAT OWNERS to throw out the treats and do not buy them anymore. Why take the chance? I pray I would have been warned.

My girlfriend has the cutest ginger cat that she affectionately named Owange, and whenever I visited her, I always made it a point to go to a grocery first to buy her cat a pack of Whiskas Seafood Cocktail. Her cat absolutely loves it. We've been feeding it to Owange ever since he was a little kitten, and he grew up with a very nice coat of fur because of it. He's also very healthy and has never had any health problems. We've tried the other Whiskas variations and though her cat likes them all, he could always tell whenever it was Seafood Cocktail that we were feeding him. Heck, sometimes the moment we enter the house, it almost seemed like he could tell we had a pack of Whiskas on us.

We also have a lot of cats at our home, but we feed them Whiskas Dry cat food instead. They also love it. Just the sound of the rustling bag of cat food is enough to make all our cats jump out of their sleep and into the kitchen. We've always fed our cats Whiskas and it has never harmed them, so we will continue to feed it to them. And when I finally have a place of my own and I can also have my own kitty, I'll be sure to feed it Whiskas too. MEOW!

A friend took me to the Humane Society 3 years ago to adopt a cat after I lost my cat Tom with a heart condition. I brought home Allie who was approx. 6 years old. She was feral and seemed to have been abused. It took me time and love to get her to the point she was today. She became loving, trusting and had a routine for both of us. She slept under the covers with me and loved to keep warm. We became so close and bonded in so many ways. Note: I have given her temptation treats in the past, but that was then and this is now. About a month ago Allie started to beg for these treats. She had never done this before, so I kept buying them and giving them to her.

Soon she started vomiting. As time went on, she stopped eating her regular food and would only eat the treats. She became sicker and I took her to the Vet. She found small tumors in her belly area. Because I'm a senior with a husband in a nursing home, she tried to spare me any undo expense and said usually the tumors are cancerous and if she stopped eating her food she probably had other places. The Vet said she could do all kinds of expensive tests or I could take her home and just make her comfortable. I decided to take her home and keep her comfortable. The only thing Allie would eat was these treats. She became sicker and sicker until I took her back to the Vet and had her euthanized. My son dug a grave at his house where he had a pet cemetery and we buried her.

Seeing I would no longer have any use for her food and treats, I took them to my son's. When I first arrived, I spread some of the temptation treats on the patio. The cats were all walking around but no one touched them. The next day, my son called to say that these cats will eat anything and that the treats were still untouched. I asked him to go online and see if there was a recall or a problem with these treats. That was when he found all these complaints, most since March 2016. My cat was fine, running around, playing and eating prior to May 2016 and these Chicken and Beef Temptation treats. She may have had small tumors but I am convinced by the posts and her actions during the month of May that I poisoned my own cat with these treats and I'm sick over it!!!!

Something happened to these treats!! Why did Allie all of a sudden crave them, to the point of meowing and sitting at her bowl, when she never did before. Why would she only eat the treats as time went on? Why did my son's cats and other cats refused to touch them? I believe these treats killed her. I still have three bags left and would like to get them tested but don't know where to go. I spoke to Attorney's to investigate and maybe start a class action lawsuit but have been shuffled all around. These treats should be off the shelf and we should all be able to do something to stop any other cat owners from losing their animals.

But my husband and I have been taking in stray cats and kittens for 30+ years, dumped on us by people who treat them like garbage. Many of the problems I read are explainable, or should be by a vet, like the skin bumps, I have a couple of cats that develop these every year. I take them to my vet, she gives them a shot, the bumps go away. Kidney problems, lethargy could be many things.. diabetes? I have a diabetic cat, has nothing to do with treats. Have been giving these treats for years, my cats absolutely love them, and will continue to get them unless someone who knows what they are talking about says otherwise. Don't blame this product if you don't know for sure... see your vet for all animal health problems.

Until Friday May 20th 2016 when he became really ill. He was fine, healthy, pouncy. Then all the sudden not. He vomited a little (something new), curled up in a ball on the tile floor, got up, went to the litter box, came out tracking blood, and then I saw it. A puddle of blood where he had been laying.

Rushing to the ER Vet. and being asked about poisons I had stated that I never let my baby out. He sadly took his last breathe Saturday May 21, 2016 around 6:30 in the morning. I demand answers from this company. I think that there should be a class action lawsuit filed. My cat was only 4. My heart is broken. My husband's heart is broken. My home is now empty. How dare Whiskas keep selling these treats. My boy was beautiful. Who wants to sue with me? Oh in case some of these people want to see how beautiful he was I'll try to attach his picture.

I've read quite a few of the complaints about Temptations. The problem I'm having is not stomach problems, but a skin allergy (?) on one cat and I haven't seen anyone mention it. He is a fixed, about 2 year old gray tabby, Jackson. He has bumps around his neck, one on the top of his head and now coming up on his face. The itching and scratching are driving him crazy.

Today, he is restless. When I see he is asleep, I put some feline Rx meds on a bump as soon as I can find one. It's Saturday, and our vets are closed. He was feral when I rescued him, and he still has some wildness in him so putting medicine on him is very difficult. Putting something down his throat would be impossible for me by myself. He has his front claws and very sharp teeth and doesn't mind using any of them. I don't have ** to give him, and I don't know about a tiny bit of **, assuming I could get anything down his throat. He won't even let me spray some anti-itch stuff on him. I know they could be flea bites, but I don't see any signs of fleas. And why just around his neck? He does not wear a flea collar.

Has anyone had any similar problems with Temptations treats? Both cats love them, and also beg for them, and I know I give them too many at a time. In case it is the treats, I will put them out of their sight and only give them a few and perhaps wean them off them. I haven't changed the brand or flavors. The only change I made recently is ordering them in the plastic containers rather than the bags, which I've done for years.

I had been giving him other flavors with no issues. Only the catnip was new. After googling catnip treats I found this site. I immediately threw out all the treats. JP has not thrown up for several days. His behavior is back to normal. So glad I found this site since it verified my suspicions. And now my little guy seems to be okay. My cat is six years old and has been very healthy until recently when I had a general check up with routine blood tests. The blood test came back showing hypercalcemia which is a high amount of calcium in the blood. Generally when this happens in dogs or cats it is indicator of a parathyroid disease or cancer, in particular with dogs. With cats however it can be harder to make a diagnosis without further expensive blood tests on the parathyroid. The veterinarian kept asking me if I had been supplementing my cat with vitamin D and I kept replying no I had not been giving my cat any extra vitamins. We've had the blood test for blood calcium levels done three times and each time her test was above normal, but not as high as would indicate a serious condition to look for, but definitely above a normal level.

As I was doing research on Hypercalcemia and vitamin D, I decided to read the ingredients on the Temptations cat treats I had been giving her for the last year. She really loves those treats and I had been generously giving her them. Come to find out the ingredients in those treats has not one but two forms of vitamin D and one of them is vitamin D3 which is particularly toxic. In fact that form of vitamin D is used in rat poison means and what it does is create calcification in the kidney and the kidney stops functioning. When rats eat the poison they die a horrible death due to this and it does the same to our pets if they ingest the poison. Granted the dose of vitamin D is hugely larger than in these treats, these treats contain vitamin D which is completely unnecessary as a supplement for your cat.

My veterinarian was quite surprised as we discuss this and kept saying that he could not understand why they would put it in the cat treats let alone put so much of it in it. I have immediately stopped giving her those Temptations cat treats and will have another blood calcium test done in about six weeks to see the results. This all points to the fact that I may have been unintentionally supplementing her and creating a toxicity in her blood just by giving her cat treats. Warning - DO NOT GIVE YOUR CAT TEMPTATIONS CAT TREATS! You may be accidentally poisoning your cat.

My cat was healthy and normal until a friend suggested I try these treats for her. She loved them. Now about 6 months later I'm in tears because I'm very sure she has kidney problems. I find out the blood test results tomorrow but she shows all the symptoms of kidneys failing. She stopped drinking. She's peeing a lot. Not eating. She's lethargic. I wondered why she started drinking so much water over the past while...now I know. These "treats" dehydrate cats.

Sure enough when I started googling the symptoms she has I came across this page I was absolutely horrified. I threw them out. This company needs to be held responsible for releasing such a dangerous product. I've just spent $550 on vet bills this past week, and I have no idea how much more I will need to spend to get her better. As a single, young homeowner being off work at this time and with no one else to turn to I am absolutely devastated right now.

I have to take out a loan to take care of her now because I have no other option. I have severe depression and anxiety and she is a huge comfort to me so I am hoping she can pull through this. I noticed this started last Wednesday when I saw she had vomited. And started eating, drinking, posing and peeing less and less. I took her to the vet and he prescribed mirtazapine to stimulate her appetite. It didn't work. I took her to another vet and they were more thorough but of course much more costly. They gave her a shot to rehydrate her and help her pass stool again but that's not working. She's just peeing much more now. I took her back today and they drew more blood. They gave her more fluids since she isn't drinking on her own. I find out tomorrow her blood work results and I'm so nervous.

Please take these garbage treats off the market and hold this company responsible!

Today I had given her a new cat treat, Whiskas Temptations Beef Flavored treats. This was the first time she had eaten these treats and she got sick about an hour after eating them. I have only just heard about the apparent risk to cats concerning Whiskers Temptations. I also found all of the other cat owners experiences very upsetting. Some ranging from cats vomiting and becoming lethargic, to even death. I have read many reviews, and I also find it way too common an occurrence to just be coincidence. Vets have even confirmed it is food related (the food being the Whiskers Temptations given). Then the owner has been able to trace it back to the Temptations. I would like to know, (as a cat owner myself), why I have just found out about the risks. I only found out because someone shared a post online. It may be that these terrible cases are confined to cats that are very unlucky to maybe be allergic. But even one cat is too many, and it seems to me that the Whiskers company/Mars are more interested in profit - hence there being no warnings or recalls in the shops.

If this was a baby food, it would be off the shelves instantly. And rightly so. A cat is a family member that is loved dearly too. I'm not making comparisons-ANYTHING that is consumed by ANYONE that carries even a small risk, should be taken off the shelves immediately. Now I have all this information, I'm starting to think maybe one of my cats might be getting sick with them. Unlike my other two cats, she doesn't like wet food, so I treat her to other foods - Whiskers Temptations being the main one. She is only 3 but often becomes extremely lethargic, gets diarrhea and sickness. She also has sore skin with hair loss (I flea them regularly). Her tummy is also very swollen looking. She's a very tiny cat, so she hasn't just got a bit fat. It is only her stomach. For a cat that prefers dry food, I know water should always be available. But she never stops drinking water - she can't get enough.

Now I know about the awful, possible effects of these 'treats'. I will no longer give them to any of my cats. Hopefully she will improve and make a full recovery. I have very little money, so I haven't taken her to the vet's. Plus her symptoms come and go, though I don't wish to give her more Temptations to see if she has a reaction. I am going to find the money for a visit to the vet's to rule anything out, as it may not be the treats. It has also got me thinking about my beloved cat Floyd, who died suddenly from very rare peritonitis. This was two years ago and he was only 5. He was very fit and energetic, but got sick so quickly. The vet couldn't explain it, and he had to be put to sleep. He also ate the same treats. I will never know, but I know I won't be buying anything from Whiskers/Mars ever again. Their lack of concern, compassion and a customer's right to pay good money for a safe product for a loved animal is lost on them. It's disgusting!

My cat got sick with a skin condition a few weeks ago and had a large mottled bald patch on her back. She's had this before on exactly the same place, to the left of her spine, but never this bad. I took her to the vet in 2009 thinking she had a burn or an infection but the vet could find nothing wrong with her. She cleared up shortly after but occasionally gets a bald strip on exactly that same spot. I figured she was crawling under something and getting a scratch but there was no blood or injury of any kind just a bald strip. When she got sick this time it started with a long bald strip, maybe 3 inches long and half a centimetre wide. Within a couple days it was 10 inches long and 2 inches wide of irregular bald patches with weak hair tufts left behind that had white tips on them. She was not scratching or licking at the area at all.

She's an indoor cat exclusively and there are no other animals here ever. I searched online for pictures to explain what she had and couldn't find any answers. I tried an anti bacterial cream from the pet store, it did nothing. Same with the anti-fungal cream. Finally I took her into the vet ($200. for a poor person is a punch in the gut) and she told me to stop feeding her temptations as she had developed an allergic reaction (Eosinophilic Granuloma Complex) and those particular treats were a common cause of these problems. You can imagine my incredulousness as I've been feeding my cat mounds of those treats as long as I've had her (since 2008). But as I read more about it I discovered this is a common story! And the pieces are starting to fit together.

She's on pills now and had to have an injection for an infected granuloma. She is completely off the temptations and already she doesn't throw up/spit up anymore on the new crunchies from the vet or the pill pockets which are feline Greenies. Her poo and gas don't smell anymore and she seems less lethargic. I'll know in a few weeks if her fur clears up if this new diet is helping. I also switched to Iams food and will not buy Whiskas any longer until I determine if the food is healthy. I don't know that the treats were the problem but a lot of things are pointing in that direction and I'm furious at the thought. I was always afraid of the stories of cats getting sick from common pet foods and that's why I bought the major brand names. I had no idea so many people had problems with this brand of cat treats. I'll post again in 2 weeks to update my cat's condition.

I have just returned from the vets with my British Shorthair Cooper. Since getting my beloved Cooper a year and a half ago he hasn't been fed treats of any sorts. Then a couple of days ago I noticed there was a packet of Whiskas Temptations in the cupboard which a family member had purchased him for his Christmas. I checked to see if they were in date, which they were and proceeded to give him a few. He seemed to love them, nearly taking my hand off for them! The next day I noticed he was a bit lethargic compared with normal and he started to wrench as if he was going to be sick. This was highly unusual as Cooper had not been sick ever before! The next day however I gave him more Temptations as he seemed a wee bit better. HUGE MISTAKE! Within an hour (about 10pm) he threw up and this time there was a lot of sick!

I couldn't quite understand what was causing it! He was sick again at 1am, 4am then multiple times between 6 and 7am. At this point he seemed to be very lethargic and was hardly able to walk. He fell over a couple of times as he was trying to get under the bed to hide. That's when I knew I had to get him to vets ASAP. On way to vets I actually thought we had lost him as he was unresponsive at one point! I was absolutely petrified! The vets checked him over and couldn't find any masses in his tummy or anything. I told her about the Temptations, and she said it's possible he has taken a reaction to them. She gave him 3 injections including an anti-sickness, antibiotic and vitamin. I was told if he was sick again after then I was to rush him straight back down. Now he is home. He still seems lethargic but a lot better than earlier!

As he is resting I decided to start researching about Whiskas Temptations and to my disbelief, it seems I was right. These so-called "treats" are what caused him to get so violently ill! As comparing my version to other stories on this website, they are identical! Why are the manufacturers allowed to keep selling this poison to our beloved cats!! I am absolutely disgusted that these items are still on the shelves! There are far too many stories regarding this brand for it to be a coincidence! I myself will be contacting the manufacturers and anyone else who will listen to me regarding this matter, including distributors of the product. I just wish I had read this website before giving my poor boy such awful poisonous junk! I just pray he makes a full recovery, unlike some other unfortunate wee fur babies who sadly succumbed to this truly awful product! My heart goes out to the poor owners. :(

Prior to doing so, I thought that I would quickly Google complaints about this product to see if anyone else has had similar problems. I am both shocked and saddened by the stories on this site.

My extremely well 13 year-old male cat, Tonto, the love our my husband and my life, our best buddy and important family member of our household, recently experienced two similar episodes to those reported by others (immediate vomiting, lethargy, distress, pain). He is long-time consumer of Whiskas cat treats and became extremely sick two weeks in a row March 7th and 14th. Thankfully, we were able to link the source of this directly to this cat treat. He was diagnosed and hospitalized for pancreatitis. He is slowly becoming more himself but I was told that it will be several weeks. My vet strongly suggested that I follow-up with the company.

On March 15th, MARS Canada Inc. said that no other complaints were received about this product, that they have strict quality assurance measures and that the problem is with the grocer who stores the product incorrectly. They told me to purchase the product from a pet store or Wal-Mart and to make sure that the expiry date said 2018 and that the product batch started with 602. I subsequently received a letter of apology stating "We are glad that Tonto found his way into your home and, most importantly, your heart. We know the value and joy pets bring to our lives..." along with coupons for more product. My grocer is shocked and feels that the company is "passing the buck" - they do not have storage at their facility - the product is put on the shelf upon receipt. I contacted MARS today, a representative will be contacting my vet to discuss further. I told the representative that I felt compelled to report all of this to others.

Updated on 04/04/2016: I followed up with MARS Consumer Affairs about my incident and was told that, from their conversation with my vet (which I was not a part of) and in speaking with the MARS vet tech, it is likely that Tonto may have developed a sensitivity to the product. I am aware of the possibility of allergies and sensitivities to products in pets and that this can happen suddenly, however, in the observation of my cat, their explanation is unsatisfactory.

Tonto had two episodes of adverse effects related to the specific dairy flavored treat packet given to him on March 7th and 14th but did not have a reaction to the new dairy treat packet given to him on March 12th. In addition, I am alarmed of the number of incidents that have been logged on this site and those that have had similar experiences but have not come forward to report their stories.

I will be sending a written letter to MARS summarizing my interactions with them and will copy my vet as I was not a participant in their phone discussion with him and I want to keep him in the loop. I have also included this website for their review. I no longer use any of the Whiskas products. As for Tonto, I am thankful that he is improving every day and is resuming his happy self. With each pat and kiss, I remember those family members who have passed away.

I fed my cats these treats every day, a couple times a day. He loved them and we played by tossing them around and playing hockey with them (his name was Henrik, after Henrik Lundqvist, the New York Rangers goalie). He was only one year old and we found him dead on the kitchen floor. I spoke with my vet and she believed the cat had an unknown heart condition. I buried my cat. It was devastating. And tonight I read somewhere on Facebook about these treats being bad for cats. I am besides myself.

I fed these things to him. I am outraged these things are on the shelf. I just bought a bag of the dairy flavored ones for my sixteen year old cat who really doesn't care for them. So WHY ARE THEY STILL ON THE SHELVES AT THE STORE??? My beautiful cat is dead, he was only one year old and he ate these treats several times a day while I was thinking I was spoiling him. I was killing him.

I just adopted a five year old cat from a shelter a month ago. The small bag of treats that were given to me to come home with was the yellow bag of Temptations. He loved and begged for them so much, I got more and he was given one a day, maybe two once a week. He wanted no part of any other treats, and my other cats had their own brand of treats so they never were given Temptations. Well, last night within 15 minutes my cat Frosty was in Pet Heaven! I was and still am sad, mad and shocked. After eating a very small amount of food, he vomited it up, went and found a play to go by himself. I sat on the floor with him to give him comfort but space too. When he tried to get up, he couldn't walk and kept falling.

While my Husband went to grab a cat carrier in our home, Frosty's mouth was wide open trying to breathe and then had some major seizures. We put him in the carrier, put him in the car and within 10 minutes, my Husband was on his way back because Frosty had passed. Same litter, water, cat dry and wet food and all of them are only indoor pets! I threw away all food, water and litter and scrubbed them with hot soap water and refilled. I didn't get much sleep that's for sure because I was in so much shock, but when I realized the treats were the only difference and read the things other people posted, I really think this treat probably killed my cat and now the bag is in the trash, but I think I'll take it out to be tested! PLEASE BEWARE!

Omg... one of my 2 cats was diagnosed with kidney disease about 6 months ago. Both are on special prescription diets (one on kidney care, the other on digestive care) but their vomiting / loose stools continue. But because they LIVED for their nightly treats of Temptations, I (foolishly) continued giving it to them. The guilt I now feel that I may have unknowingly made them sick by giving them Temptation treats is unbearable. Joseph of Alexandria, VA talked of a class action suit but don't know how to contact him. Is there currently one underway? I'm definitely interested.

We only buy these when there is extra money to do so. My cat has had seizures - 3 of them. Each after she has eaten a bag of these. At first I was thinking it's her old age. We do use Whiskas cat food. She only likes the classic and won't eat any of the other. She is 15 years old. I am sure the treats are to blame. They are too addicting. Purina one for sensitive systems. I won't buy them and I won't give them to her anymore. I don't get it. How could they do that to her. The other food was ok. She was doing ok. Now these treats. I will bring them to the vet if we have to.

After reading these reviews I am concerned adding my comment. Please do something. She ate a half a small bag. She is a small cat. I think they cause dehydration. Then kidney issue and renal failure if we'd continued. It also might be in the cat food too. Not suppose to change food brand but am concerned now. Do not give Whiskas Temptations milk 3Oz to any cat.

I have a 10 year old cat who I have been feeding Whiskas Temptations treats to almost daily for several years. To date, there has never been an issue -- until last Thursday. I usually give my cat a few treats before I leave for work as a "parting gift". On Thursday, I noticed she had vomited up her breakfast, which is highly unusual for her. Now, my mom's cat has long hair and is a "barfy cat" - always bringing up hairballs and whatnot, but mine, however, NEVER vomits. I attributed it to her having eaten her food too fast, but still found it odd.

The next day - Friday - I gave her some treats as usual prior to leaving for work. Upon returning home some nine hours later, I discovered blood-tinged vomit literally everywhere -- on furniture, window sills, her food dishes, etc. She was nowhere to be found. After calling, she came out of hiding and gave a sickly meow. I provided her with fresh water and cleaned the area thoroughly. I went to Petsmart to buy her a high quality wet food (I only feed dry) so she would eat to get some nutrients back into her.

The vomiting ceased Friday night, so I thought we were out of the woods, but lo and behold at around 6:30 on Saturday morning, she started up again. I made an appointment to be seen by a vet immediately and she was given various tests and examinations, all of which came back negative. They asked if she might have gotten into anything poisonous, and all I could think of was these treats. Maybe there was a bad one in the bunch. She's an indoor-only cat and to date has been healthy, happy and energetic.

Something drastic must have happened for her to turn so quickly. She was listless and lethargic. The vet said the blood in the vomit was likely caused by heaving so heavily it broke blood vessels. It broke my heart to see my beloved cat in this terrible state. The last treatment she received prior to me taking her home was a subcutaneous injection of fluids to help flush her system and re-hydrate. It is now Monday and she is slowly returning to her usual self, but had she been in poor health, Lord only knows if she would've been able to fight her way through this. Never again will I buy Whiskas Temptations, or any Whiskas product, and I will be warning my friends and family about what happened.

Also they are not to be fed to kittens, only adults. I have an extremely picky cat. He is a sibling of the cats raised and trained for "Homeward Bound 2". Yes he is old. In fact he is 20 years old. He is in fantastic health, and gets 3X a year checkups. His only problem is he needs dental care. I've tried everything. The only thing that worked was the Dentabites. He has been eating them and other Whiskas flavors now for 10 years. Yes he sometimes up chunks, but it is usually a hairball. His mother had a bad thyroid problem that is signaled by a pet vomiting. I for one have not had a problem, and wish fervently that Dentabites would once more be available.

I'm in the Mpls-St Paul area. I used to buy Dentabites in the store but they were getting harder to find, then non-existent. Started ordering online through various companies but now can't find them anywhere and perhaps all these complaints are why. I have to report, thankfully, all my eight cats are healthy and have not had any problems. A couple of my cats do barf from time to time but can't say for sure it's related to these treats. None have had to go to the vet or had funny stools. My cats have had these for years, maybe ten years, and been fine. Dentabites are the one treat they all agree on. They love them so it's too bad there obviously has been a problem with them. Must have been a few bad batches made.

For the record, the other Whiskas temptations they have eaten recently include the Ocean Middles Salmon and Tuna flavor (purple and blue package), Mixups Catnip Fever (green package), Blissful Catnip Flavor (pink package), and Tempting Tuna (blue package), there are a few others I can't remember right now. I have never tried any of the Hairball control packages.

My 16-year-old cat had gotten very ill recently and I had to take him to the vet to find out what was wrong. They did a complete blood panel and everything was good. My cat is very picky so I feed him a variety of foods. One was the Temptations. The vet suggested only feed him one type of food to figure out if it was food related. I did that and lo and behold, the Whiskas Temptations were the problem. Granted I just found out yesterday and had fed him some the night before. He's sick and lethargic, won't drink any water, loose stools, his stomach and throat are intermittently having spasms, and these were all the symptoms he had which sent us to the vet. I am giving him water through a syringe, the big kind, he spits some of it out, but at least he is getting some water.

After reading all these reviews, I am so angry that this product has not been recalled. Do the Whiskas people even know about this website? I seriously doubt they care from what I've read here. This is a crime!! My cat is my family, and they shouldn't be putting out a product that could potentially kill a member of my family. Oh, I am so angry! Two weeks ago I noticed one of my cats wasn't eating or drinking very much and losing weight. I took her to the vet where she received an IV to rehydrate her & blood tests were taken. We were given Amoxicillin & Nutri-Cal & have to force feed her baby food. Once she starts eating on her own she'll had to go on a special diet. She is in renal failure. My other cats are no longer active and are coughing (or dry vomiting). Some are coughing up white phlegm. Just as a precaution I've quit giving them these treats. They are vomiting, and 2 of them have bloody stools. The vet said they are all in various stages of renal failure, but said thankfully because we're so diligent in watching them, that we caught it early and they should recover, although 2 of them may develop chronic renal failure as a result. We aren't out of the woods yet, but things seems to be looking up for all of them.

I'm going to post a picture of the package these treats were in. However, cats started vomiting every time treats were given as a snack. Then I noticed bloody stools in litter box and blood stains where they had been sitting. One of the cats was vomiting so frequently and profusely he was taken to vet. He had lost considerable weight. Vet took a history of eating habits and food choices. He told me to d/c the treats immediately and gave cat supportive treatment. He said he had seen a number of cases where cats given these treats developed similar GI problems.

Immediately stopped the treats. Within 48 hours symptoms decreased markedly and were gone by 4th day. These treats are horrible and should be recalled. They have sickened so many pets and caused their owners considerable expense at their vets. Any food that causes such suffering and distress among our beloved pets should not be available and sold throughout pet markets and grocery stores. FDA needs to take action immediately! My cats have been getting the Catnip Fever type of these treats for about two years now. They really liked them and would come running when I shook the bag. I noticed about two or three months ago it seems that the green treats in the bag had changed for a medium to light green color to a brownish green color. One of my cats started throwing up after she ate hers and I thought it was due to eating them so fast.

Over the past couple of days she threw up green liquid a couple of times and now it is white bile. Her brother, from the same litter, started throwing up yesterday as well. He has acted like he was going to cough up a hairball before, but has never actually threw up as far as I know. He vomited 4 times last night all of which were the white bile and two of which had little chunks of wet food that he ate after the treats.

The female cat mentioned above will not eat the wet food that her brother and my other female cat eat. The other female has not gotten sick as far as I know and she is not related to the first two. The brother and sister will be three years old in April and the other female will be four years old in March. All of them had worms last year and were given pills for the condition. The worms are gone and have been since mid summer. They have not had any other issues. None of them throw up hair balls very often.

I am going to stop feeding them anything made by this company. The wet food I use is Friskies. To be fair, I also had to change variety of it as both local grocery stores were out of the usual type when I tried to get it last time. I stayed with a chicken variety, but used the plain chicken in gravy instead of the Taste Sensation chicken and cheese. The wet food wouldn't explain the one female vomiting before that though.

Last August I adopted a healthy cat from my local Humane Society. Recently I opened up a bag of Temptations treats (turkey flavor) that were a Christmas gift for her from my second mom. By the time she got through 1/2 a bag she stopped eating/drinking. After 3 days of this she was rushed to the vet's office and they asked "what was new" that could have caused this. 2 things only: I switched from Nutro indoor cat w/ chicken and wild rice formula to just the Nutro Max chicken flavor and she had been eating Temptations treats. I am pretty SURE (500.00 later) that it was indeed tainted treats I was feeding my sweet little girl. The vet's office? They wanted to run "tests" which would have cost almost 500.00. As it was with 2 office visits, trips to the pet store I was am in shock for about 500.00 already.

I asked the vet to administer her 3 shots (after doing much online research) A B12 shot, an antibiotic shot and a shot of cortisone which would help with any pain and calm her stomach down. EVERYTHING I could find out pointed to "stomach issues" and not a blockage as the vet's office wanted to treat her for a blockage. AND WHEN did vets stop caring about their patients and only start thinking about their "bottom line"?! Not only do I NOT have the money for their barium test I believe it would have shown nothing and my "gut" told me that. ALL her blood work was perfect, CBC's? Perfect... something was making her stop eating and something was causing her to vomit. I called the director or the Humane Society where I adopted her from and we chatted for a long time and her advice agreed with what I thought I should be doing.

She is on the "super concentrated" Nutri food (in the tube) and I put that in a bowl along with some of the soft, canned food for "stomach/GI" issues and some hot water to make it all warm and I make a slurry out of that. That is put into a syringe. I am giving her 1/4 of a 20 mg. Pepcid pill then syringe feeding her the slurry I made. (Pepcid 2 times a day.) Last night she threw most of it up along with the Pepcid but I re-dosed her on the Pepcid and left her alone as this week has been very stressful on us both. This morning she got her Pepcid dose, warm slurry and kept it down. At noon I administered a dose of cat laxative because she needs to have a BM soon. (That was also not thrown up.) I am starting to feel some hope as I believed her to be very sick and I believed I may have had to face the possibility of being put down. (She would never suffer... I just can't do that.)

She is more alert today (mad as heck with me!) and looking better but still sleeping... but then again I believe that shot cocktail knocked her for a loop. I love my little girl and she has become the center of my world and this has just been so hard to watch her suffer and I am the one who gave her those treats. I am angry at myself, angry at the complaints that the Mars Company has ignored. PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT give your cat these treats. Find something else! Something made in America as Temptations are made in China. Avoid what we have had to go through... it's been horrible! Had she been an older and less healthy cat I believe she may have died.

I first adopted my cat in September at 6 months old and he will only eat wet food. I tried a few brands and at first fed him only Fancy Feast. I often would try to give him variety and ended up replacing the Fancy Feast with Whiskas because he seemed to really like it. After a couple of weeks eating just Whiskas cat food he started vomiting. Occasionally at first, but then it happened more frequently after a few days, and quickly escalated to 5 times one day and started including bile, and my kitty became severely dehydrated. I took him to the vet and he was given IV fluids and examined.

After several vet visits, X-Rays, and extensive blood work, everything appeared to be fine but he kept getting sick. He was then given anti-nausea medicine and then he became blocked and was not able to have a bowel movement. The vet gave him enemas and demanded that we change his diet. We switched him back to strictly Fancy Feast and now he's been fine! What a nightmare (and small fortune) this low quality food caused for us and my sweet kitty.

DO NOT FEED YOUR CAT THESE TREATS! I have had my cat for 13 years. She has always been a healthy cat. I started feeding her this product as a special treat and at first she loved them! Couldn't get enough. Over about a month period, I noticed she was acting a little differently. She seemed more lethargic, but I chalked it up to she is getting old. But then, last week, she suddenly stopped eating her regular food and would ONLY eat the treats. Now, she can't go to the bathroom, she barely drinks anything and she still won't eat anything but her treats. As of today, she is now hospitalized as they are working to get her unblocked. This food made her severely constipated and ill. My vet bill is so far totaling over $500! All because I fed her this treat.

We recently noticed daily vomiting, and lethargic behavior. Suspecting diet, we removed every current item from her diet and switched foods. After some experimentation we determined the bad actor is Temptations treats. I fed her two Temptation treats today to confirm the evidence. She vomited profusely within 20 minutes. I hope we haven't poisoned an intelligent and loving pet. In reading the various descriptions of similar or identical sickness and/or death, with no apparent response of MARS, I believe this issue may require legal action to get their attention. I am not a veterinarian, nor a vet tech. I have had bad experiences with these treats. My last cat went into renal failure after being given Temptation treats of various flavors. He was an indoor-only cat all his life. My current cat has begun renal insufficiency after being fed these treats. Both cats behaved as though they were/are addicted to these food products.

I would very much like to see an independent lab test these treats' "food by-products," as the treats are produced in Canada, and horse meat is allowed in Canada. Horses are frequently treated with acepromazine, which usually leaves the body after a few days, but can linger for months if used consistently. I know from my late cat, that the huge pupils and crazy behavior was very much like eating these treats. Also, vomiting and dizziness, all side-effects of acepromazine in cats. My current cat has been removed from this "treat." Some random tests, please?

After returning home from college this thanksgiving break, I realized how strange my beloved 10-year-old cat, Boots, was acting. He had become seemingly disoriented (dilated pupils), and would stare off into space with no detachment to reality. If a loud noise happen, instead of his usual surprise, he would remain unfazed. Boots would wake up from naps to excessively lick himself in an irritated manner. Then I noticed today and yesterday how he slept the majority of the day, and most of the night. These naps were a very deep sleep and he didn't wake up very easily.

Thinking to myself that my cat was just getting old (even though he is a very active healthy cat), I luckily realized an extremely frightening coincidence. Tonight I found a bag of Temptations "Mix Up" and gave him a handful. He FREAKED out, even though I gave him maybe 7 or 8 small treats. His pupils got massive, he became clearly agitated, ran around the house, and then came into my room and started acting very aggressive and was continuously was rubbing himself on objects - like some sort of speed for cats. He is now extremely disoriented, still has large pupils, and finally calmed down but seems unsettled. I immediately googled this product and discovered that many of the complaints and observations of cats' behaviors after eating these "treats" match those of my cat. I am so frightened that my cat has developed a kidney infection or is going to die.

My dad has been giving my cat Temptations once a day (in small amounts - a handful) for the past two weeks. I'm so appalled that so many people's animals have suffered from this drug. What is this company doing? How are products still being sold? I plan on calling the Association of American Feed Control Officials and the Temptations company tomorrow. Really, everyone on this website should join together and file a lawsuit against this atrocious company.

My cats (2 of them, they died of old age in 2013) preferred Whiskas brand, as long as it wasn't a fish flavor, and pretty much wouldn't eat anything else. I had problems finding flavors that I would allow them to eat though. All but a few of their flavors contained gluten as a major ingredient, and I don't believe that is a proper food for cats as they are obligate carnivores and their digestive systems are not built for gluten. So I have mixed feelings about the product. On the one hand, my cats loved it, and it was not outrageously expensive, but on the other hand I had to scrutinize labels very carefully and hunt all over town for the varieties that my cats and I could agree on. Gluten should not be in a cat's diet. There are plenty of inexpensive alternatives of actual, real meat that they could use. I am not just on the anti-gluten bandwagon. I eat gluten myself, but I am not a cat. My digestive system can accommodate, theirs can't.

He was suddenly and violently ill. He went from place to place, vomiting first the treats, some of which were whole, and then just liquid and bile, every few minutes for over two hours. He wouldn't drink water and looked miserable. He lay on the ground in our bathroom until early the next morning. One of the cats gets Dentabites more often, as a bribe. It's Saturday at 7pm. Yesterday, Friday morning at around 7am, I gave all 8 cats Dentabites treats. We have 8 cats because neighbors refuse to spay & neuter, not because I'm a collector. All are indoor only. After treats they got canned food, and I noticed that they didn't finish it.

When it came time for evening feeding, the only cat who would eat was the one on Prednisolone, for leukemia. He has remained fine. Then there was vomit and diarrhea, some of it green. 36 hours later, all 7 cats have been affected to some degree. One has recovered completely. 4 are still refusing food and can't keep water down. The worst off is the one who got the most Dentabites. This cannot be a coincidence. I've thrown out all Temptations treats.

She gives in every time and she gives him about 15. She gives him more every time he begs. It's starting to get out of hand and I've tried to talk to her about it but she says, "Don't argue with me." I even hid the treats from her but she just bought more.

Also, I've noticed that Oliver has been throwing up a lot. I didn't really think too much about it because I thought he was just eating his food too fast. But I've started to notice that he throws up whole chunks of the treats. They are still whole treats. I am starting to get worried, especially after reading these reviews, and my cat's massive weight gain does not help this situation. I was talking to one of the veterinarians that I work with and she said that Oliver is at high risk for diabetes or some other types of pancreas disease. My cat became addicted to Temptations about a year ago. She would eat NOTHING ELSE. She was at the vets two weeks ago and was healthy. I bought her Temptations from Walmart last week. Upon one helping she started vomiting all over the house. She's never done that before. I told my husband I suspected the food was tainted. I bought her another pack of Temptations at a different store, as she would eat nothing else. Same reaction. As soon as she ate them she started vomiting all over the place. I believe Temptations killed my perfectly healthy five year old cat.

I had two male cats who were healthy until the time I introduced them to Temptations Treats. BOTH got kidney failure and one also got an inoperable stomach tumor. There was more meowing, and one vomited often. I didn't realize it was the treats but looking back, I wish I had seen the connection sooner that it started after the treats. After looking at the ingredients I decided to search and see if anybody else experienced the same with their cats. Both had to be euthanized within a year of each other and they (and I) suffered very much until the end. Please, listen to the reviews and do not give your pets these treats. Be careful of any pet food with by-products or any of these horrible preservatives that I read on the packaging.

My mother has two cats - both seniors. They have both been eating Whiskas soft food and Temptations treats for a while. One has been vomiting the food up while she doesn't vomit any other kind of food up. The male has developed a serious kidney infection. And the only different just before that was the consumption of temptations treats! When will this dangerous stuff be taken off the market?

Two weeks ago, my wife bought the above referenced product as something special to give to our two perfectly healthy cats, ages 3 and 6 yrs. old. Within days, our oldest began showing symptoms of being extremely ill. We immediately took her to our vet who proceeded to do a blood work-up on her, and a general exam. She was very dehydrated and listless, while also refusing to eat. Her bodily functions were shutting down on her! After receiving the results from testing, he determined they were similar to being poisoned. That same day, the other cat began displaying identical symptoms.

To make it short, both cats suffered liver and kidney failure that was directly related to the treats. They had to be euthanized in order to ease their apparent suffering. I have attempted to contact the company, but am still waiting on a response. After reading other complaints online that reflect the same occurrences for many cat owners, I am determined to crusade against this terrible, and needless loss of pets' lives due to the uncaring and irresponsible actions of the Whiskas company.

The new food was ok did not throw up. Then we introduced their treats back Temptations - crunchy outside soft inside. Well they both threw up again. The treats were not digested when they threw up. No other treat has ever caused this. This is the first bag we bought of this kind. I think you need to check into this. Thank you.

But two of my cats were wise enough not to eat them and the third that did was sick and vomiting for the three days. I gave them to her before I realized what was causing her illness. Once after I quit giving them to her and she had vomited it all up, she was alright. Now I am even afraid of the treats that I had been giving them before that.

I've had my female domestic short hair cat since she was 6 weeks old. She's now 14. I've given her all sorts of treats at noontime and she always reminds me when it's close to noon. The past week I've been giving her Temptations Chicken flavor and she's stopped eating her food. All she does is sit and beg for more treats. For the last 4 days she's ONLY eaten Temptations, even though I have four very healthy brands of dry cat food in bowls throughout the house. She's completely lost her appetite for her favorite cat foods and only wants Temptations. I'm pretty suspicious about the ingredients Mars uses and where they come from.

I called the Whiskas Temptations people but all they said was that Temptations is 100% safe and nutritious for cats and yet they seemed strangely defensive about the ingredients. This is VERY unnatural behavior for my cat. In fact, I've never seen this behavior in 14 years of caring for her. Does anyone have info on why my cat seems addicted to Temptations and isn't interested in her normal diet? Is there anything that isn't on the ingredients label?

Temptation treats - Gave them to my cat about a year ago and at first nothing seemed wrong. Twice after giving him the treats he vomited. I thought nothing of it because he vomits hair balls although not too often. On the second vomit l was cleaning it up and noticed there were treats still wholly formed. My cat seems like he is addicted to these treats. They are like kitty CRACK. We are now weaning him off these treats because he will not eat any other food until he gets treats first.

I have 14 cats and they go through a lot of Whiskas Temptation Treats daily. One is old and very addicted to them and thinks they are his normal food. We go through several bags daily of treats and have never had a problem with any of our cats. Sure they get an occasional hairball, or the occasional vomit but usually it has other things in it and I have never seen treats in what I clean up. Several like to chew on plastic bags, ties or anything they can find and will upchuck that, mostly hair balls no matter how much I brush them. I have to put out a positive for these treats. Our cats have been eating them for 12 years and never have had a problem with them whatsoever. They are the ONLY treats my cats will eat. We have tried cheaper treats due to how many cats we have and how they BEG for them constantly. We give them more than they should have I am sure but they are all happy kitties with no health problems.

I bought Temptations cat treats for all 3 of my cats and decided to google Temptations cat treats just out of curiosity because my cats love them SO much that I thought it seemed abnormal. I was curious to see if anybody else had the same experience and I came across all these people talking about how deadly that the cat treats and also Whiskas cat food can be. I have only been giving these to them for about 2 months and I am never giving them to them again!! The only symptom that my cat seem to experience so far is that I did notice vomit on the floor a few times. I assumed it was a hairball and I'm not sure when during the day it happened or to what cat.

Again I'm so glad that I came across this site and I pray that it is not too late and did not cause my cats any damage! I read a lot about kidney damage and it scares the heck out of me. If anybody has any additional information please feel free to email it to me if you think it would be helpful for my kitties. I love them very much and I'm so worried about them now and what type of long-term damage I may have caused by those treats. Also just wondering if anybody has a suggestion on the best and healthiest cat food and treats to give my kitties that won't hurt them? Thanks for listening!

I bought these treats to give my cat, Jack, when he was taking antibiotics. I gave him one and then gave my other little one, Ninja, also. Not 5 minutes later she began vomiting. The next day, not realizing it was the treats, I gave Jack another treat and just like Ninja, he began vomiting. 3 days later, after a few vet visits, Jack is very slowly recovering, and Ninja is currently hospitalized. Both could not keep food down and subsequently stopped eating. Ninja is still not eating nor is she have any elimination as well. No pee or poop yet.

Was terrified I was going to lose her because of these treats, I am hoping the hospital helps her because she was otherwise a healthy indoor cat. Jack's only issue was accidentally ingesting a needle from playing with the thread. 2 healthy cats who are now going through hell because I gave them these treats. Please people don't buy these. And for those who would question whether it was the treats, I can say, for Ninja, it was the only deviation from her regular diet and routine.

I gave my one-year old cat Temptations Cat Treats for the first time and within 5 minutes she started vomiting. She continued to vomit until there was nothing left in her stomach. Because she's an indoor cat and this was the first time I'd given her the treats, I associated the vomiting immediately with the treats. I re-sealed the package, threw it in the trash and took the trash to the outside can. I withheld her regular dry food for several hours, but made sure she had plenty of water available. After a couple of hours, and she seemed fine, so I gave her 1 tablespoon of food. She was fine for the rest of the night. The next morning, she also seemed okay, so I fed her about 2 tablespoons of dry food. She vomited it up almost immediately. I withheld food again for the rest of the day. She was fine that evening and has been okay since. I'll never feed her those treats again.

I bought them awhile ago but I didn't realize it would go bad. It's stored in a dry space and was not opened until recently. My small dogs also eat this food. They have tried numerous different dog foods but they will not eat it and our vet said it's fine.

My cat and dogs have all been losing weight now because they will NOT eat this food that smells bad! My cat has been throwing up from trying it so I took it away. But now I am out 2 large bags of food and I have to find more but I am worried about getting more bad bags... I threw out one bag but still have the last bag so now what do I do? My cat gets sick on other brands and nothing seems to compare to the Whiskas for him. He is getting too skinny and I am not happy about it. He has never looked this bad... I looked for any recalls on the cat food but I did not find any. Has anyone else had this issue???

I have been feeding my cat Temptations Cat Treats - a product of Mars Petcare without any knowledge of what they were actually doing to her body and blood sugar. After noticing her urinating constantly and excessively I took her to the vet and her glucose level was 184, in cats the norm is ~150. The vet explained that it could be borderline diabetes in the beginning stages, and to monitor it over the next few weeks, as I did. Well call it intuition, a blessing from above, a hunch, whatever you want to... I immediately stopped feeding her the Temptation Cat Treats, which she actually went through slight withdraw I believe. I am not a medical doctor but she displayed WebMD signs of withdraw. I mean she has eaten the things for 10 years 3 times a day. So I don't disbelieve that she was.

Anyhow, almost immediately, within 2 days her glucose level begin dropping drastically. By 3 weeks it was averaging 155. That's almost a 30 point difference. I have continued her diet other wise and her sugar levels are maintaining. Please take notice of my experience. Instead of having to give your cat daily insulin injections, just cut out Temptations Cat Treats or drastically reduce the amount of which they consume. I've discovered they are certainly not meant to be consumed everyday, multiple times a day. I thank God and everyone else that this was caught in the brink of time. She was literally at the tipping point on the scale of no return.

My boyfriend and I were looking around for some treats that our kitty would enjoy. We decided to buy these, remembering that the place we adopted him from gave all their cats temptation cat treats. Our kitten is 3 months old so we would only give him a few treats here and there without him having any problems- that we knew of. This morning we decided he deserves a few after getting his kitty caps applied, but unfortunately they didn't settle well. It may have been the first time he threw up because he started crying and running for his litter box. It wasn't a normal cry either.

After his crying stopped we investigated to find chunky vomit right next to the litter box. Okay so maybe he ate his food too fast and he got sick. Nope. We gave him a couple more at night the same day and within minutes he's crying and running to the litter box. Sure enough, the undigested treats are there. After cleaning up the mess those treats went straight into the garbage. The flavor we were giving him were the Chicken kind in the yellow bag, but we also threw out the unopened seafood medley. The chicken expiration date wasn't until 2016! Extremely disappointed yet kind of relieved to know it wasn't a bigger problem after reading all of these reviews with the same or similar symptoms. Won't be buying anything made by this brand again.

On closer inspection it's not only the label that's changed but in fact the product. The old can used to have on, [made with real fish] the new can says [with special recipes]. The thing is my clever cat now knows it is different and I have the problem of her not wanting to eat it and looking at me with a sad face. Why has the recipe been changed? Is it a cheaper option? A blood test concluded that he has kidney failure (a blood test done 3 months ago showed no signs of any issues so this was a very rapid progression). The two vets that I have visited kept encouraging me to tell them EVERYTHING he has eaten or anything he could have gotten into. They are convinced that it is something that he has eaten that is causing this because he is a very healthy indoor cat and is so young. I have been feeding my cat top brands except for Whiskas Temptations treats which he absolutely adores. It seems a lot of people have had tragic consequences from their cats eating these treats and I am truly heartbroken for you all. I have 4 cats, but this really concerns the two oldest cats. Both will be 18 this year, both black, largely structured, formerly 20lbs each but not siblings. Zell had diabetes a few years back but now is cured. Monkey has hyperthyroidism and is just a shadow of his former self. I feed all of my cats grain-free dry cat food and grain-free wet cat food, along with Fancy Feast wet recommend by my vet. Monkey won't touch the dry food, won't eat a lot of the wet but will eat handfuls of Temptations treats. I am just desperately trying to keep him alive at just 6lbs with treats and medication. His blood work is fine except for the thyroid and occasional liver enzymes. He had fatty liver disease 8 years ago, which I nursed him through and after he gained his weight back, was attacked by two stray dogs who ripped him from belly to anus.

I have fought so hard to keep this cat alive and if Temptations is mostly all he will eat, then that's what he will get. This has been going on for three years. I do not feed the seafood flavors of anything to Monkey because of the higher iodine/mercury content. I do limit my other cats consumption of these treat, mostly for weight issues but rarely do I have a problem aside from the occasional vomiting and the younger two have never been ill a day in their 4 and 6 year-old lives. Zelly, is in good health other than sleeping more than he used to but he's an old man kitty now which is to be expected.

If I could get my Monkey to eat something else, other than a little wet food I would but I have tried everything including kitten food, kitty Ensure, tubed weight gain gel and homemade cat food with little to no success. I would never feed any of my cats Whiskas food and I hate giving them Fancy Feast, the classic and cheesy bits only because of the soy protein in some types. Temptations are the only thing keeping Monkeyshines alive, so Temptations it is. That is our story.

Having read some of the other horror stories, I thought I would put a positive spin to the product. We have 2 rescue cats that both have kidney failure and are on the same diet. This July will be our 5th anniversary with them. They are going on 19 and 18, so no spring chickens here. One is deaf and partially blind and the blindness seems to related to high blood pressure. Taking meds for HBP really helps. The problem is getting the pill in her. Can't mix it in wet food, she'll find it. So I thought I would try Temptations. I cut the treat in half, scoop out some of the filling, place the pill inside one half and cover with what I scooped out. She gets a pill twice a day so I prep the other half for the evening dose. She like the treat so well, she sort of inhales it without really chewing so the medication is delivered.

No trauma to the cat of holding her and prying her mouth open. Our other cat does not eat Temptations at all. We don't give Temptations as a treat, only for delivering the medication. The only problem I have is that many of the treats have hardly any soft middle. Even ones that look really plump can be deceiving. I have written to Mars about this problem. Good luck to all fellow pet lovers.
