We bought a French Bulldog 4 years ago and after lots of medical issues she passed away in her sleep on 11/22. The vet that Petland recommended was in disbelief. We went above and beyond getting her vaccinated and feeding her high quality food. Something is seriously wrong here.

I went to a Petland in Florida & got scammed. The person selling me the dog set up a ZOOM call with the breeder and the puppy. Long story short, they opened up a credit card in my name, took a small deposit, & kept texting me stating that the puppy needed more shots before she could be delivered. I received 3 or 4 texts, week after week, that the puppy would soon be in my hands. Well, I never received the puppy, lost my deposit, & ended up brokenhearted....but that's OK, I didn't get the cops or law involved, I'm going to handle this my own way, the "Brooklyn Way".

The Petland staff was nice and helpful in choosing our puppy. However, I would never ever recommend getting any financing through Petland. They use Community which is actually Bread Financial they deposited my payment in a different account then charged me interest on my other account. Then they said couldn't transfer money into correct account, That they had to refund the money from the one account. They over refunded then charged me interest on both accounts which they are insisting I pay. Mind you this is over a 4 month period of time which I had paid the money in full within the first month of purchasing my dog.

I purchased a Golden Retriever puppy from Petland. 5 months later, she began limping. I took her to the vet, and they did xrays and determined she had NO hip sockets. I asked how this could have happened, and the vet said the parents obviously were not tested for hip dysplasia. I researched care for my dog (who I loved dearly). She needed two complete hip replacement surgeries at $8000 Plus per side. The only hospital that did this procedure was 4 hours away. I had to make the painful decision to surrender her to a Golden Rescue who took her in, and is now in the process of scheduling her first surgery. Petland is no more than a puppy mill. I was broken hearted over losing my beloved pet. I will never shop there again. The following week, I went in to speak to the manager, and they had more Golden's - from the same breeder-.

Petland screws people over even WITHOUT purchasing a dog from them. My family and I were looking at dogs to train as a service dog, and we just wanted to walk around Petland just to look at the dogs. We were talked into spending time with a puppy, which would have been fine if they didn't take my fiancé's DL when we did that. Once we were in the area playing with the puppy, they became pushy about sending us home with the puppy, regardless of how much we told them we were not prepared for this. They pushed their credit line at us and offered to run a credit check "Just to see what they could offer us," on financing. During this time, I actively had a medical episode and still, they pushed my fiancé to sign their form. He wound up signing their form just so we could leave and he could get me home to take meds and let me rest.

Over the last month we have found out that the form for the "credit check" signed us up for not one but TWO credit cards (because apparently different credit card companies use the same exact form without their information on it.) We can only hope that they haven't signed us up for more, but I sincerely doubt they are done making our lives hell.

They KNEW of my health issues because we had been there multiple times and explained what we were doing when we went. We explained while we were there why we weren't actively getting a puppy yet, but they STILL screwed us over. If I had been thinking about it, I would have had my fiancé and/ or my daughter call the police and paramedics because essentially they refused to give my fiancé's DL back for over and hour, and I don't drive. Their sale meant more to them than my health.

I could write an essay on how much I HATE Petland. I've had my dog for TEN years and have ((regretted)) it just about every day. We moved to Kansas City from the East Coast and it was really hard on my two young boys. I promised them a dog to cheer them up when we got to KC. We went to Petland. My youngest fell in love with this dog and begged to take her home. We paid 5K out the door!! Sticker shock is an understatement. My son was already so in love. It's like they play on your emotions and then stab you with the price. We were told our dog is a designer breed. A Bassett Hound and Shar-Pei mix, but were assured by Petland that the dog would look mostly like a Shar-Pei when it grew up. I asked 4 times to be sure! I've found "hot dogs" to be the most unattractive dogs, and guess what? She turned out to be an 85-pound bratwurst-looking dog. She is stubborn, lazy, greedy, and smells GOD awful all the time.

We have to pay $80/month for meds to keep her odor manageable. I have begged my family to get rid of her for years, but they said they would feel too bad because no one else would want her and she would probably be put down. My husband and I are ruined for owning dogs. We will NEVER get another dog again. I feel bad for her, it's not her fault. I feel like a terrible person because I just cannot connect with this dog. Since the Humane Society has been airing commercials every day to not buy puppies from Petland because they come from puppy mills, I've just gotten more and more angry. We did not know that she came from a puppy mill. We were told she came from a small breeder. It all makes sense now because she acted like she was abused since day one. I really wish I could sue Petland. I would if I could. DO NOT BUY FROM PETLAND!!!

Petland is the worst place in history to ever get an animal from their animals that come sick. Most of them end up dying. Do not purchase from this company. If you do your research, you will see. There are only 2 left in Ohio due to the fact that most of them have been shut down because they have been outed on the way they treat animals and where they get their animals from. Be cautious. Go to a shelter and get one from there, Don't believe me. Read all nine hundred and something reviews about Petland. This is Meant to help others from going through what 1 of my best friends is going through right now. Worst company ever!! Shame on you pet land for selling innocent people ill and dying puppies. Updated on 05/31/2025: I bought a dog and it turned out to be a Hermaphrodite Dog! I spend over 2 years fighting Petland and wanting half of my money back. Instead they charged me over 7000.00 with interest within their own bank and refused to acknowledged they sell inbred dogs. So not buy from this Petland. I am suing them this month in small claims and consumer affairs. I paid off the dog that cost me 7000.00 with interest and NOW I am taking them in front of a judge.

Original: I purchased a very expensive Pug after losing mine. The first two months passed, and my puppy was a nightmare. Tore everything in the house. I thought it was due to its age, but it was because it had a prolong penis growing out of her and she was out of Wack with her hormones. I went to Petland several times-tried to make deals with them- and finally after fighting and threatening them with exposure they agree to operate on her. It cost them 3400.00. So, you can see how bad this dog's condition. After two months late she developed a large tumor growing by her stomach. I had to dish out money because PETLAND refuse to answer my letters. I ended up paying 1200.00 and 300 for medication. While this was going on I was paying 118.00 to a PETLAND finance company monthly. My agreement with them so they don't put the dog to sleep was to continue paying off the dog but not to incur interest charges.

Everything was going well; however, another operation was due to both legs having some kind of inbred problem and must be operated. Then a thyroid problem raised, and it also must be operated. I do not believe in killing dogs, so I did everything possible to make sure that the puppy was taken care of. I went to Vets who give me suggestions of how to lower her hormone levels. She was born with testicles and ovaries inside her and hormone imbalance. PETLAND was very aware of this situation but refuse to acknowledge that they took inbred dogs from breeders.

Surprisingly, I received the other day, after paying for over a year and putting down a large down payment, that I owe 7200.00 on the dog. I was flabbergasted. They said that I didn't pay for over a year interest and now they are adjusting the bill. These people must be fined. I am asking anyone out there that can address me to the right legal people to sue Petland or at least to write off this enormous amount. I am an elderly person and I believe they took advantage of my good nature. I have tried to get legal assistance but they want more from me than the dog is worst. Please don't buy dogs from Petland. They need to be put out of business or fined.

I brought my dog in for grooming with Michelle yesterday. He’s a 2 year old Pomeranian. He was booked in for a 3 hour appointment due to the fact that he was matted and she needed more time. I came to pick him up and I walked into the grooming room. She had walked away from the 3.5 foot podium she had him on and left him unattended with no collar or leash securing him. He immediately saw me and jumped off. He fell to the ground smacking his head and landing on his left foot. He was unable to move. I was saying, "OMG Nugget. Are you ok." He looked stunned and could not move. I yelled to Michelle to go get him and she brought him up to me.

At that point his eyes were open and he was still nonresponsive. I was in a panic. She didn’t seem super concerned and said maybe he’s winded. There was blood coming from his mouth and she said he probably bit his tongue. I think he injured his leg as well. He still wasn’t really moving but he was breathing. I grabbed him frantically and said, "I’m taking him to the animal hospital now, this is serious." She just said ok with a major lack of concern. She should have never left a small dog unattended on a high table like that. It’s like leaving a baby on a change table unattended. It is complete negligence. Not to mention the fact that she didn’t even bother to call and see if he was ok. He was examined at the vet hospital and by some stroke of luck he had minor injuries and his vital signs are stable. I’m still monitoring him for head trauma and any other symptoms. He will also require an x ray tomorrow to ensure his leg is not broken.

I think and understand would for me to say I’m unhappy with the service I received. This is complete negligence and I am tempted to sue. Like I said it’s a stroke of pure luck that he’s not seriously injured and we are not out of the woods yet. You will be receiving a vet bill from me which I fully expect to be taken care of. Furthermore, I will NEVER EVER be using your store or services again. Oh and by the way the haircut is terrible. His skin is so red and irritated and his cut is completely uneven. She completely damaged his over coat and it’s questionable if it will grow back properly. Unfortunately the haircut is the least on my concerns.

I got a message on Monday that they had two Yorkies coming in on Tuesday if I wanted to make an appointment. So I made my appointment for Tuesday, May 17th at 5:45 PM. My GPS took me around the world it seemed and I was a little late. They understood and told me to pick out a room and they would bring her out to meet me. I was told she was white was that an issue. Do yourself a favor and do not get credit through Petland! I utilized a Petland credit line to purchase my overpriced puppy mill puppy laden with medical issues. I paid the account off in two payments. A month later I received a derogatory note on my credit that I was 30 days late because they charged $10 for something that I was unaware of, after my billing cycle. By the time I called the company to clear it up, they racked a total bill of $47 which I had to pay to close the account. The dog was $5k... I certainly would not have allowed $10 to ruin my credit... Shady, shady, shady.

I got my hammy from here and I had to get it out of the glass case myself because the women working was too scared to get him out for me. Way too overpriced for hamster stuff so I got it at PetSmart and Walmart but they made me buy wet tail drops with my hammy and you’re not even supposed to give them those it’s bad for them. He was super red flaky skin, constantly grooming and itching himself. I felt so bad for him and I took him to the vet.

Petland would not help me at all with the costs, and all of their hamsters are kept in one small glass case, that’s open on the top… All of their hammy breeds. Mine is a golden and they AREN'T supposed to be kept together, let alone keeping all those hamsters in one case with ONE wheel and ONE food bowl, I’m so glad I have banana (my hammy) but this place is really awful and did not need to be reopened. They need shut back down. All of the animals conditions are horrible and none of them are cared for correctly. These are some pics of him when he was in his tiny quarantine cage healing.

We purchased our GSD at Petland of Rockford IL a year ago. He was just diagnosed with severe chronic hip displasia, and neurolgical problems of the lower spine just before his first birthday. Petland would only pay $2800 of his $3500 expense toward the surgery and refused to cover the neutering cost, that was delayed till one year old due to him only having one testical drop, because he needed hip and neurological issues. They would only pay for one or the other. They said the lower cost was due to taking out the free stuff they included at the time of purchase.

The dog cost $3500 and you threw that free stuff at Petland, you're **. Don't buy a dog from Petland or any other puppy mill provider. They sold us a dog mated with its own family in order for these severe problems to exist. May you get what's coming to you in return someday PETLAND. Would convict them of animal abuse if I could. Thank God our dog has us to take care of him. Whether it's $3500 or $11,000 after expenses to fix him. Three choices were drugs and joint meds $3500 or more over his shortened remaining life, neck and ball removal $5000 and a limp for rest of shortened life, or complete hip replacement $11,000. No thanks to Petland with any kind of help. X-rays and vet visits for this are already at $1500, MRI is going to be $4500. Lies, all lies at time of purchase. Go to a reputable breeder if you want a good dog.

We bought our puppy from the Petland in Topeka KS in February 2022 for my birthday for $4543.30. She is an absolute doll and we love her! The issue is that Petland lied to us about the payment plan we signed up for. We had 4 different deferred interest options presented to us that we were approved for. We had one picked out that gave us a 18-months of deferred interest, but at the very last minute, the staff hyped us up about getting a Petland credit card instead. The Petland credit card is charging us an interest rate of 29.99% when the staff at Petland told us the interest would be deferred for 24 months on a promotional plan!! That is about $100 per month at this point! That means if we can only pay $100 a month, we will never get ahead on payments.

We have been paying this for 6 months, so we were willing to take that loss and requested to just have the remaining balance put on a new plan, with deferred interest. We have talked to the staff at Petland a few times and they finally gave us the number for Petland Team Solutions. Team Solutions could not do anything because they said the paperwork we signed would have stated the financial plan. The paperwork we signed stated that IF there was a deferred interest promotional plan, interest would not be charged for the period of that promotion. Since we were told we were signing up with a promotional plan, we assumed that applied to us. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THE PETLAND CREDIT CARD. Better yet, go somewhere else where they have honest employees to find your new animal friend.

We bought a puppy from Petland Pembroke Pines FL on 06/30/2022 around 8pm. Her name is Penelope. Penelope was already symptomatic. When she was brought for us to see her, my wife notice that her butt was dirty from having diarrhea and a few minutes into the visit she pooped, and it was already a creamy brown diarrhea. We were told that she was brought in and was changed over from her mother's milk to puppy food and that was the reason she had diarrhea. She was lethargic. My son notice that when he touch her all the ribs could be felt.

On 07/02/2022 We brought Penelope to Your Pet's Vets due to the nonstop diarrhea. She was giving a few meds to treat Giardia including Pet Tinic Drops(Iron for anemia). On Sunday 07/03/2022 Penelope got worst so we brought her to Pet Emergency Center for an Emergency visit. The vet said that what they did was not right. He acknowledge and said on the medical report "As discussed the pre-patent period for Giardia is 3-10 days according to the Merck Veterinary manual, thus the patient most likely had giardia up unto and before the purchase, based on onset of clinical signs and diagnosis. This accounts also for her poor body contrition." When I asked Dr ** for the letter of unfit sale said he did not want to get into it.

On Monday around 4am she started a bloody diarrhea and no longer was eating and started vomiting, no longer holding anything down. Pet Emergency Center. Hospitalization 07/04/2022. Penelope had to start all oral meds and hydration. The vet mentioned that the Hospitalization saved her life. They had another puppy from Petland hospitalized with the same life threatening symptoms as Penelope.

On 7/05/2022 Penelope was picked up from Pet emergency center at 8 am later brought to Your pet's vets where she was again hospitalized. 7/05/2022 we went to Petland of Pembroke Pines, and we were told that there was nothing they could do and the manager JV ** refused to speak to me on the phone. On 7/9 we had to take her back and she now has a respiratory infection. On 7/9 I spoke to the manager JV ** and referred me to Pet Solutions. On 7/11/22 she was again hospitalized She still has diarrhea, bloody discharge, anemia, respiratory infection and is very lethargic.

As of today 07/13/2022 Penelope is still hospitalized and will stay overnight again at Your pet's Vets. Penelope still is positive for Giardia, still has Amemia, and a respiratory infection. I have all the medical records for all the visits. I want refund. This has been a nightmare. Petland is hiding behind Petcare solutions and no one from petland corporate is talking to me. I have provided all the evidence I have that I was sold a sick dog and the only thing they say is "You mentioned the vet stating unfit to be sold. We would need a letter from the vet stating that."

On Wednesday, July 6, 2022 I decided to purchase a puppy from Petland locate at 356 N University Dr, Pembroke Pines, FL 33024. The associate Mayra was very professional and patient. As she sold me Lucy (a pomapoo). We both noticed how well behaved and calm Lucy was being. The whole entire transaction took a healthy 30-40 mins and Lucy was very well behaved (for a little over three-month-old puppy.) Unfortunately, Lucy was only showing signs of an underlining sickness that would soon show its ugly head within the first 24 hours of her new home. Needless to say, Lucy’s appetite was little to none and then the vomiting started.

I made arrangements to visit their personal veterinarian on the same day I purchased her, but unfortunately, they do not accept walk-ins. The earliest available appointment was the following week. So, the next morning, on Thursday, July 7, 2022 I took her to Dr. ** (my current dog’s doctor) because his office does accept walk-ins. I explained to him the situation with her appetite and vomiting. He examined her and he did not understand why she was not accepting his a/d urgent care dog food. He told me to set an appointment with PetLand’s designated doctor for a follow up and told me to continue using their product.

Needless to say, her issue still continued and on Saturday, July 9, 2022 I returned to Dr. **'s office because she was still vomiting what looked like dog food. He stated try his brand of a/d this time around and make sure to follow up with Pet Land. I drove straight over to Pet Land and was approached by an associate by the name (I would later find out) Jackie **. I then asked to speak to her manager, and this is when things became interesting. When I spoke with JV (because she refused to give her government name) she was very unprofessional and showed no true skills of leadership. Her associate showed the same behavior.

I explained to JV how Lucy had been sick since I purchased her a couple of days prior, and her response was all sales are final. I then said to her, "Well you guys can keep her because she is sick." Her reply was “Oh so you’re going to abandon her so wait right there so I can call the cops!” She never tried to accommodate my situation. Seemed as though she wanted a reaction because As I was leaving, she tried to make a scene shouting "Oh so you're not going to wait for the cops?! You're going to take the dog with you and not leave her here for abandonment?" I ignored her as I proceeded out of the store because I’m a cancer survivor with chemo pill treatment in addition to monthly injections. I do not have the energy to argue.

The sad part is instead of trying to help me resolve the issue and acknowledge that maybe I was sold a sick pup, she was adamant and inconsiderate. I'm sure her attitude would've been completely different if she was the customer. She should not be a manager. She was very unsympathetic. It appears she was trying to stage a scene. As I spoke softer, she spoke louder eventually creating an unexpected scene. Which was embarrassing for me. I am a school teacher on summer break, and I've always taught my students to "Treat people the way you want to be treated." Regardless of their race or the clothes they are wearing or (you always remember that they are a human being 1st!).

Unfortunately, Lucy ended up in ER that same evening vomiting what seemed to be dark blood. The ER doctor ruled out parvo and could not find out what’s causing Lucy’s sickness. She was given antibiotics and other medicine which cost $404.00. At the point of sale, she cost $5,178.78. I believe Lucy should not have been sold. She is obviously a sick pup and Pet Land could care less. I have called within the first 24 hours of Lucy’s purchase informing them of her sickness in addition to when she went to ER. DO NOT PURCHASE ANY DOGS FROM PET LAND! I wish someone would’ve warned me. Well, Lucy’s behavior at the time of purchase was a warning but I just thought she was a well-behaved pup. Who knew!

Petland sold us a sick puppy. Our puppy was purchased on 4/9/22. We have made several trips to the preferred Vet, which Petland is well aware of. The puppy has intestinal parasites the first couple of days after purchase. He has also had issues with eating. Most days we can not get him anything. Petland lied about his weight and his health. Stating that he was a completely, healthy pup.

The Vet reached out to Petland to advise of these health issues. Petland is refusing to stand behind this purchase. I called to the store (Mall of GA location) and asked for the store manager on numerous occasions. Her name is Emily. She has not taken my calls (I've been placed on hold for over 45 mins) or has not returned any of my calls. Now that we have the puppy, we're being told that there's nothing they can do to. We were told this information by Lauren, who is in the Health Claims Department. Keep in my we've had issues since the initial purchase. Vet records will prove that. I will never purchase again from Petland and will be sure to advise everyone I can to stay away. Petland is a RIP OFF!!!!

BUYER BEWARE: We purchased a dog from them and spent several thousand dollars. When we went to pay for the dog, we were charged an additional $149.99 for the microchip and $149.99 for their puppy for a lifetime program, which we were told by our salesperson that this program was included in the price of the dog. When I called their customer service number about it, I was also told it was included and was transferred to "someone that could help me". That person told me that it was mandatory and not included. Essentially, the price they charge for the dog is actually $300 more because of their mandatory addons. To top it off, we took the puppy to the vet 2 days after purchase and spent an additional $100+ because it had intestinal worms. Buyer beware if you're looking for a pup here.

I purchased a tub of fifty large crickets from Petland at Stonebrook in Saskatoon. The crickets were in poor health. It was hard to see how many were alive or dead, though some were clearly dead. When I got them home, it turned out to be about 75% dead. This is the second time I've had this exact experience with Petland and Stonebrook in Saskatoon. Their prices are already higher than their competition. Buy your crickets at Petsmart and get actual live crickets.

Petland OKC and all Petland/solutions pet owners, employees, etc do not care about you or the pet they are selling you! They care about your money and how they can keep from paying out anything for the sick puppies they sell from well known puppy mills well known for their disgusting and overcrowded facilities where they breed these poor animals who carry life threatening intestinal issues including parasites. The poor puppies have diarrhea with blood and parasites. Their cages at Petland are disgusting - many of the puppies had globs of diarrhea, bloody feces, urine with feces where they are walking, sleeping and they are eating contaminated feces of other dogs right in front of you while employees stand around and chat! These puppies are in no way healthy and should not be sold at all.

The “top 5 breeder” is a guy named Brad Grotewold from Iowa with a large puppy mill site that you can find online with several disgusting and disheartening articles and USDA write ups regarding his poop/parasite infested facility and the broker is Southpaw Pets also in Neosha, Iowa! The contracted vet, Jason ** is shady and does not keep accurate or adequate records. He refuses to change his mistakes and actually left off many calls and the actual 2nd medication he prescribed for the intestinal parasites! The puppy is very sick and has had diarrhea and bouts of vomiting since the day of purchase! Petland refuses to refund any money and will not pay for him to go to their vet or our vet that we have taken other pets to for years because he’s competent and he’s not going to lie about a sick dog!

It’s heartbreaking knowing that a large amount of money was paid to petland for a very sick puppy and their contract is full of unlawful statements which they make you sign that you are in agreement with, however they do not go into any detail of what they are actually making you sign. They withhold medical information which is both fraud and misrepresentation when they are selling a product that is supposed to be the best of the best. I’m sure as we do further research, we will find he’s not even registered and the dogs they show as parents are probably stock photos with no relation to the dog purchased! This is common practice for petland!

Go do all the research before even thinking about buying from petland! ACTUALLY DO NOT BUY! It’s a huge scam and I have tried my hardest to get vet visits covered or a refund and they do not budge. They give you the run around over and over hoping you will give up! If you are reading this and have had these issues or any others, please join with others to get petlands across the nation closed!

I was extremely excited to purchase a ferret to spend the next 5-10 years with, and originally I wanted to buy from a breeder or shelter. Sadly there aren't any shelters or breeders near me, so I went to Petland to purchase a Marshall ferret. The ferret was extremely active, friendly, adorable, and I spent a few days visiting her to see if she was healthy. The fated day then arrived when I purchased her and took her home. When she arrived home, she was playful and just your typical ferret. I was in the process of bonding and training with her when, around three days after her purchase, she started acting strange. A lump formed on her neck and she began to sleep all day. She developed a fever and I took her immediately to the vet where they found an infected abscess that had been growing for a while now. I hadn't even had time to get myself pet insurance, and so the total cost of my visit plus medicine was over 1,400 dollars.

The doctor was honestly appalled at her condition and told me I should reach out to Marshall to be compensated for the vet bills. I did, and... what a surprise, Marshall covered nothing that a ferret could realistically be inflicted with. The only thing they might cover is a broken leg. If it's an infection that wasn't even your fault? Forget about it. Petland simply redirected me to Marshall when the ordeal honestly should have been their responsibility. They house these animals and ultimately take care of them in the weeks leading up to their adoption -- and so they should be aware of any afflictions that the animal may be suffering. I am starting to think that Petland might not be all that it's cracked up to be, as I also saw that some of the bearded dragons they had on display actually had degenerative bone disorders. I think my ferret will be alright for now, but it's disgusting that she had to go through this. She's only fifteen weeks.

I made an appointment to see a dog that I had full intention of taking home. My appointment was confirmed and I drove 80 miles to Petland Rome. I told the sales person I was there for my appointment to see the female German Shepherd. She informed me they had no female German Shepherds. I understand all animals are on a first come basis, but I should have been notified before driving all the way out there. Poor treatment of what will now never be a customer.
