I've had smooth experiences getting reimbursement from Figo. The plan has some tricky exemptions (like worms/parasites) that I wish were more obvious upfront. I also had an issue where one of my claims they tried to deny claiming it was a preexisting issue and I had to get my vet to write a letter explaining that it was not.

My renewal increased from approximately $30 a month to $1000 without notice or explanation. Even at the $1000 a month it was less than the coverage I originally signed up for. Customer service could have cared less about this unfair situation so of course I cancelled my policy. Customers do not come first at Figo! Disgusted!

I liked Figo insurance. However they changed underwriters and they hiked the price of coverage for my dog to a ridiculously high rate and for less coverage than I previously had. I chose to cancel the policy because I was able to find better coverage at a better price with a few other insurers, and ultimately went with an insurer that has better coverage, with a lower deductible, and a lower premium.

We're sorry to hear about this renewal experience. When we switched to our new underwriter, IAIC, we did so in hopes that our rates would stabilize over time. Alongside this change, not every coverage combo was able to match precisely, so we issued our coverage recommendation 30 days before renewal to ensure there was ample time to find a more suitable plan. Our experience with FIGO has been very positive. They are clear in what they cover, quick to process claims, the electronic submission and direct deposit is convenient and much faster than the "old days" of faxing or mailing submissions. Our canine family member has had unexpected hospitalizations (infection with pancreatitis) as well as unexpected leg surgery after trauma. We have premium coverage, and FIGO covered 100%. We will stick with FIGO!

I cannot say enough bad things about how illegally they increased, DOUBLED, my plan in less than two years with no explanation other than a new underwriter. It was gross negligence and 100% bait and switch. They should be sued.

They treated us awful when they switched underwriters. They tripled the premium and lowered his benefit amounts. Tripled his deductible. Denied our claims. Made it impossible to switch because now he has preexisting conditions. How is it justifiable to triple everything. For no coverage. You are just a scam.

Annually my policies would go up a few dollars which I did not mind and understand they changed underwriters several times. However the last renewal all 3 of my pets' policies TRIPLED which is absurd.

We're sorry to hear about this experience. Our rates are based on these factors: your pet's age, breed, & gender, and vet costs in your zip code. Since these are reevaluated annually, you can expect to see a slight increase in premium at renewal. Likewise, we were with the same underwriter, Markel, from 2015-2020 and chose to switch to IAIC in the hopes that our rates will stabilize. We're sad to see you've canceled, but are honored to have been able to protect your pets since 2019.

I've been with Figo over two years and my Chocolate Lab is covered by Figo. He has environmental allergies and gets shots almost monthly. Figo pays promptly and I've never had a problem with a claim. I've recommended them to friends.

I research extensively before subscribing to any service, and pet insurance was no different. Figo offered an affordable rate for my pup at 8 weeks when we got her, and paid out over $4k with no hassle when at 2.5 years my pup needed surgery for a torn ligament. My fear was any major issue would be tied up and quested by the insurer while I was in the hook for the bill, but FIGO made the process painless and paid out within 1 week of filing my claim. The added travel benefit in the event of an emergency for our plan might not be utilized, but is a great peace of mind to have that other insurers do not provide.

Figo is excellent to work with on insuring our beloved pup. Their claim process is simple - I love the A.I. interface. Their claim review processing time is faster than any insurance company I have ever worked with (pet, human, structure or vehicle). Their explanation of benefits is transparent and easy to understand. Finally, their app is fantastic - it’s so easy to find everything I need quickly.

Figo is easy to file claims with. They pay quickly, but their premiums have skyrocketed to a point where I was forced to increase the deductible. They switched to a new underwriter, I was told to keep costs down---but it DID Not help!!!

In the beginning, Figo was great. The coverage was generous and the premiums were really reasonable. Claims were paid quickly. Then your company was acquired and premiums went up and coverage went down. It was disappointing and frustrating. So I changed companies.

To date, FIGO has been everything they said they would be. We have been with them for almost 4 years and have had zero issues. They covered what we expected them to cover. For us, the monthly premiums are well within budget.... We have 3 cats and 2 dogs covered. They even insure my 15 year old cat at a very reasonable rate. We couldn’t recommend enough. I am always singing their praises to others.

When they first started they were amazing and covered everything. After a new company took over they are still good, however there are a lot more stipulations and hoops to jump through before they will insure you and what they will cover. They pay quickly. The staff is very nice! The app works extremely well and fast! Still wishing they stayed the first company!

It’s a wonderful feeling not having to chose between my fur baby’s health/well-being and finances. We have had numerous close calls with vet bills being $500+ and I’ve only had to pay ~$100 or so. Figo is amazing. I recommend it to all of my pet owning friends.

I actually cancelled my Figo policies for both dogs about 9 months ago due to the huge increases in premiums and the horrible customer service experiences. I was told that suddenly, a skin condition that you had been covering for the LIFE of my older dog, was now PREEXISTING, due to a new underwriter, so you would not cover it any more. Bait and switch! And then in a period of about 2 years premiums nearly tripled. Paying more for less service. I am now with NationWide, fair premiums, great customer service, and timely claims....no hassles. I will never recommend FIGO again.

We initially loved Figo, especially because we insured our cat later in life, and not a lot of pet insurance companies offer decent pet insurance when the pets are older. Figo (or at least our policy) was originally underwritten by Markel. When they were bought out by Independence America (last year or two), they literally tripled our premium at the renewal date, and substantially reduced the benefits and also created a huge spike in our deductible. Plus, the customer service during that transition was very uneducated and not very helpful. That alone was very disappointing. But then, they became incredibly focused on scrutinizing each claim to find a reason to not pay it. Any loophole they can find, they leverage it.
I have had to appeal two separate claims and even with letters from the vet, indicating why the treatment fell under my policy’s terms, they don’t budge - or budge very minutely, but not enough to really make a difference. Also, some of the terms make no sense. For example, they don’t cover oral surgery, at all - even if it’s due to an illness or disease. Our cat has an oral mass that needed to be removed and in order to remove the mass, they had to remove the tooth. Figo decided not to cover the entire surgery because they claim that it was oral surgery to do a tooth extraction. They said they would only cover it, if it was an accident/injury - not an illness. But the main reason that we get pet insurance is to cover illness, diseases, etc. This simply doesn’t make sense to me. And now, they are not paying things that they had paid a few months ago (still same policy year).
It’s super sad and discouraging to pour so much into premiums and deductibles, only to find them constantly finding loopholes to not pay the claims. We have Healthy Paws for our other 3 creatures - literally Thank God. HP is the absolute best pet insurance company, and are very generous in their claim reviews and payments, and take their customers at their word, placing a high value on customer care / service. If you’re going to invest in pet insurance, skip Figo, for sure. Choose Healthy Paws.

My dog is around 13 years old and I rescued her over 8 years ago. I hadn't really considered insurance until she started getting older and was worried that the time would come when she would have an issue and knew I would do whatever it took to take care of her. I took out pet insurance over a year ago before she had any issues. The first year I put through a couple visits and had no issue with reimbursement. Just this past month she had to have emergency surgery and between the vet visit and the subsequent emergency room visit, it was over $8,000.
While I had no issues with previous submissions, I was concerned that because of the high cost of surgery the insurance company might not want to reimburse me. It took longer than the other submissions but the other ones were reimbursed within a couple days. Figo had to wait for some notes from my vet and emergency room. They closed the case before they received those notes but opened it right away after I called and got my vet to send the notes. Once that happened, I received reimbursement of about $6,50, after deductible with my 90% plan. The only thing not reimbursed was tax. All in all, even with those issues and the high cost, it took them about 8-10 days to approve the claim and to deposit it in my account.
My premiums went up after the first year but the reality is with her age and the submissions, it was to be expected. I'm not looking forward to what the premiums will be next year but there's not much I wouldn't do for my girl. I'd definitely recommend them as I've not had any problems with coverage and it saved me so much.

Very disappointed that the price keeps going up every year. I had her join Figo at one year old and now she’s 3. Since then every year the fee keeps going up by so much money. There is no other excuse except that there are new underwriters and that lolas old now.... She’s only 3. She’s not old or sick at all.

Pleased with my time as a Figo policy holder. Mobile app was iffy, had to close and open a couple times to get it to work, when it worked it was pretty slow. Filing a claim was usually quite simple and the review time and reimbursement time was pretty quick. My only displeasure was when Figo changed their underwriter (I think?) and thus changed my policy. The new "equivalent" policy was a rip-off. Raised my deductible by about $200, raised my monthly payments by about $25, and then lowered the percentage coverage offered. It was insulting and very scammy. Luckily, ending my time with this company was easy and simple. If Figo has a policy you find reasonable, it was a good company to work with to make sure my dog was kept healthy and I was kept not broke doing so.

The best part of Figo is their mobile app and how easy it is to use. I can submit a claim on my phone in less than two minutes! Figo processes claims very quickly and I have money in my account very quickly. Unfortunately I needed to use it quite a bit this year and it paid for itself this year and the first year! I highly recommend FIGO!

We have only been with Figo for two years and rate has doubled. Not only the rate doubled, the deductible increased? Don't have time yet but will be searching for some other companies. Only good thing is Figo do reimburse fast.

After my dog’s ACL (TPLO) surgery she was still limping. I bought an expensive package from Figo and they have paid for most of her treatments and vet bills. I’ve been very happy. Next year, back to a cheap package but knowing whatever she needs, I don’t need to worry about the money, has been just so calming, especially during the uncertainty of this past year.

Your policy renewal is a joke. Less coverage for triple the rate?! People don’t care that the new underwriter is the reason for the rate increase, they care that the company that they trusted and raved about (personally speaking) is presenting us with a proposal so far from the original coverage. From $27/month to $92/month? Ridiculous and unprofessional.

I adopted a new cat and got Figo insurance for him. He has ended up having a few months of health issues during which time he went multiple times to the vet. Figo has been great. They have paid all bills quickly and without question, even though they have lost money on him this year. I’m hoping we have a handle on the health problems now (multiple severe allergies) and he wont have to go so often to vet. But so nice to know Figo will be there.

We have had great service with Figo. The app is very easy to use and payments come quickly. There were a few things that we bought should have been covered by the policy (like hookworm) but weren’t. But they really came through with some of our larger expenses. So glad we have Figo’s protection. The only real criticism is the steep premium rate increases over the past 2 years. Our premiums have almost doubled. We have been reassured that this will not be the case moving forward. I guess time will tell.

I loved the company when I first signed on. Low premiums and fast claims processes. I signed on with them because of the premium price. My dog was diagnosed with a heart murmur. They were very easy to deal with. I expected premiums to go up after she needed medication. They didn't go up much the first year. The next year though the premium more than doubled, the deductible went up $500, the co-insurance went down 10%, and the rest of the coverage lessened as well. Why? Because Florida changed state laws to allow them to hike up prices. I understand this is a business but this was ridiculous!
I cancelled and now have to take my chances with something going wrong because I could not pay for the high premium plus my dog's medications, which I would have to pay for since there is no way I would meet the deductible unless something extreme happened. Medications are considered preexisting conditions for pets so I can't go to another company. I could not recommend this company at this time.

This is a great company for "major medical" type insurance for your pets. You can select your level of coverage, and they pay out claims fairly quickly. We have two large dogs covered by them, and so far, so good!

I did a lot of research before finally deciding to go with Figo and I am so glad! It is so easy to handle everything with their app/portal and they are super responsive. Having this insurance helped us a lot when we had to pay for the treatment of a sudden brain tumor my dog suffered. Believe me, it was worth it! I don't know what we have done without this insurance to deal with that, so thank you FIGO!

I would like to thank Figo for their incredible reliability and sensitivity in helping care for our cat Tiger Lily. She was a rescue that needed a lot of veterinary care and Figo paid every eligible claim we submitted. In addition to that, the customer care was personal and the staff was always so professional. When sadly our kitty passed, they sent a heartfelt condolence and provided unexpected support for final expenses. Amazing company!

I have had good experiences with Figo. My dog needed a TPLO and rehab and it was covered. Every claim I make after that first claim gets reimbursed very quickly. The one time I had a problem, I emailed and it was resolved very quickly. I have already recommended Figo to several of my coworkers.

I am now stuck with an insurer that does not believe in supporting dogs through the NUMBER ONE killer for dogs...behavioral concerns. While my veterinarian prescribed behavioral therapies to help my dog have a better quality of life and greater quality of life for the humans (AND reap the benefits on health that behavior therapies give). I chose Figo years ago because of this, but now I wish I could switch to Nationwide. I am stuck and I am so sorry that I have referred clients to Figo now that they have been subjected to the same switch. PLEASE SWITCH BACK TO THE PREVIOUS UNDERWRITER. I am not sure how this can be legal, but I am guessing it is, but that doesn't mean it is right. I will no longer be referring clients and veterinary friends to enrollment with Figo, it is not a company to be trusted.

Figo does currently offer coverage for behavioral conditions and we hope that in the future we may be able to expand that coverage as our pets' needs grow and further treatment advances are made available. I haven't needed to use Figo lately but the times I did it was seamless. I went to the vet. Paid the bill. Took a picture of the bill and emailed it to Figo and they made a direct deposit into my bank account. I suggest Figo to all my friends with animals.

I really cannot express how Figo has saved my wallet, and therefore, my ability to best care for my pup, who’s experiencing spine problems. Once they had all of her medical records and I met my deductible (surprisingly only $200 with the plan I chose), every time I submitted a claim, the money I paid the vet was directly deposited back into my bank account within 2-3 days. Plus, I can submit the claim on the app and it takes less than 5 minutes. I’m so happy I did my due diligence when researching and choosing a pet insurance company because I am thrilled with my experience with Figo. Also, I work with animals, mostly dogs and cats, and I’ve recommended Figo to my clients. I do not recommend anything to anyone unless I feel it to be the best choice. Several of my clients have agreed and signed on!

Figo insurance literally pays for itself. After our deductible is met we pay 20% of our bills. Especially if your animals are like mine and tend to have to go to the vet for a issue or two each year. Our policy covers mostly everything but preventatives. It’s super easy to submit a claim through the Figo App. Usually, there is about a 5-day turnaround from submitting a claim to my claim be closed and a check being sent. I have had to call Figo a few times, I always spoke with a real person and everything usually was handled quickly. Definitely recommend to friends and family.

I compared most of the pet insurance companies on the market and Figo seems to be at the top. I chose a midrange plan which is $79/month. I personally feel that is a lot of money a month for not covering any preventive care, non preventive medication, and preventive medication. I have yet in 3 years had a reason to use an emergency service but I fear once I lower my grade of insurance or discontinue it my dog will suffer an injury I can not afford to pay for. I feel like pet insurance gets you where they know you can’t say no and the payments are extremely high. I however as I said never had a negative experience with them as I never filled a emergency claim. All claims filled for non preventive meds were denied.

Thank you for the feedback provided and for being a valued policyholder since 2017. We primarily focus coverage on unexpected illnesses, injuries, and accidents. We don't currently offer wellness coverage but hope in the future to continue to expand our coverage and bring more added value to our already great plans and service.

I have had to make several claims with Figo after my dog had stomach issues. Each time was easy to file through the app. Once all the documents were uploaded I would receive my reimbursement within a few days. Overall extremely pleased and recommend them to everyone.

Figo saved my cat’s life. I would never have been able to pay for her care when she was suddenly ill, but Figo was there for us, and made all the difference. Figo is the future of insurance. Every insurance company should operate this way. The explanation of benefits is easier to read than the one I get from my own health insurance company! We had to take our Bernese Mountain dog for chemo and radiation for a three or four months. The cost was reaching into the thousand because of all the medication and treatment procedures. Figo Was on top of making all the payments in a timely fashion to help us through this financial and emotional storm. I don't understand how you can claim that diarrhea and issues with eyes is a pre existing condition. What cause diarrhea or eye issues a year ago more than likely isn't the cause now. Bandit was never diagnosed with a illness or condition then or now. We may cancel the insurance because of this because this means anytime, regardless of the cause, when he gets diarrhea, the meds won't be covered.

We hope that Bandit is feeling better! While we wish we could cover all claims, we cannot cover conditions where the initial signs/symptoms began before the start of the policy or during the initial waiting periods. However, some pre-existing may be considered curable if the pet goes 18 months without showing signs or symptoms! I only have good things to say about Figo. When a devastating illness hit to my 10 year old golden retriever, I was fearful of how the bills would be paid by Figo. After submitting them, the money was in my account within 10 days. And after she passed, they even sent me a sympathy card. They are awesome!

They raised the deductible by 500 in one year and blamed the underwriters. Why would any consumer accept that as a reasonable answer. Also they consider a symptom rather than the cause of the symptom a pre-existing condition. I am going to leave them and find another provider...but it is a difficult process.

I am so happy with Figo! Our four year old dog was diagnosed with melanoma On her tongue. She has had surgery and 4 Immunotherapy injections. She will have to undergo injections every six months for the rest of her life. Figo has paid it all and very quickly. Without Figo, we could never have afforded treatment. Now Anni is receiving great care and has a better chance at having a much longer life. Highly recommend Figo!

On the few occasions I have had to use my coverage through Figo, it has been a pleasure. Easy, online claims, and fast payment. The cost of caring for our pets has gone up and up, but Figo has reasonable premiums, and you are able to adjust your policy to meet your needs better. The price is worth the peace of mind knowing your pets are protected. Thank you again!

I've had a policy with Figo since I brought home my puppy 3 years ago and have been completely satisfied throughout the past three years. The app is easy to use (though sometimes a bit glitchy), customer service is incredibly helpful (a woman helped me evaluate all my options when it came time for policy renewal and had the patience of a saint), and claims are generally responded to within 24-48 hours, even when they say it might take longer. Truly customizable insurance based on what your priorities are (insuring against catastrophe vs. smaller but regular medical issues). Brings me peace of mind!

When I started with Figo, my work recommended it. I never had issues with your company and if anything you were great with my former dog. Now that you’ve combined with another company, my deductible went from $250 to $1,000. How is that even right? Then you tried to find any means to tell me my puppy had preexisting conditions which wasn’t true. I had to appeal it. Ollie has medical needs and I unfortunately can’t switch companies or I would. I find the “new” Figo not there for me or my pets. I’ve recommended your company to SO many people in the past and they’ve signed up with you. I even told my vet about how great you are. I will never recommended your company and I let my vet know about the huge increase in my deductible for both my pets.

Figo started working with a new underwriter as our previous underwriter had scheduled rate increases going forward. Last year I signed my dog up and raves about this insurance. Then the renewal came around and they doubled my monthly payment and cover less with no warning. If I knew this was going to happen I would’ve never signed up with them. Customer service though is very good and they usually are quick to resolve issues, although I have a claim from June that hasn’t been paid that I have called 3 times for already. Frustrating. Not sure if I’d recommend anymore.

Unfortunately my first experience with FIGO was not good. Just came to the US with my dog, and on his 4th day here he had an accident while playing with other dogs at the dog park. Fortunately we had bought pet insurance as soon as we landed, but as it came to be the claim was rejected because there was a 3 day waiting period on the insurance. While I completely understand that these rules are on the policy to prevent fraudulent claims, the nature of insurance is to cover any and all surprises that may affect your household economy, and unfortunately for us it couldn’t come at a worst time (just moving to the US, unemployed). Sad to say that FIGO DID NOT HAVE OUR BACK ON THIS ONE.

We are sorry to hear about your recent experience. When a policy is purchased, there are three waiting periods that go into effect. A 3-day waiting period for accidents, a 14-day waiting period for illnesses, and a 6-month waiting period for knee conditions. While we wish we could cover all claims, we do have to follow our policy guidelines. We can still offer great coverage for any new unexpected accident or illness. We hope Mambru is feeling better!

Reviewing all of the plans in 2016 when I got my new dog, there were about 8 different pet insurance companies that were pretty legit, I came upon one of the very newest ones, Figo... and they blew me away! What I liked about them is that I could tell they REALLY did their homework — I could tell they studied all of the other companies out there, kept all the good stuff these companies offered and left all the bad stuff behind. The premium price was great. The coverage was great. I spoke to them on the phone and got a taste of their customer service. Well, they sold me!
1. Coverage: they cover everything I need — and I have always been reimbursed for everything as I've expected, even physical therapy. My dog unfortunately had to have four surgeries this year, two major, two minor, and everything was covered. Also, they are one of the few companies (maybe now the only one?) that covers 100% of the bill, if you choose that option (there are also several lower coverage options for lower premiums). Most other companies don't offer more than 90% and some even less than that. They also cover all exam fees as an optional add-on — many companies don't offer that option at all.
2. Claims Process: yes, at one time they did have a problem there. But they have since corrected that and I usually get most reimbursements approved within a day or two and then it just takes another day or two for them to direct deposit into my account.
3. Customer Service: excellent! I actually have one customer service rep who helps me regularly and she is terrific. But a lot can be done on their app — they were the first pet insurance company to come out with an app and they have the best one in the business. Very, very easy to submit a claim — and you can look at all the documents 24/7.
4. Premium Coverage: It was great first two years. Then they changed carriers and it went up exponentially. I was none too pleased. They finally changed their carrier earlier this year and it went DOWN exponentially yet my coverage remained the same (except they no longer cover dental for reasons of illness, only accidents). So, they listened to their customers and I couldn't be happier.
I couldn't be more pleased how things are going with Figo. As long as my annual rate increase is incremental and not exponential, I anticipate my happiness will not diminish. One thing to do in your search for pet insurance: compare at least three different companies, or even a half-dozen, if you have the time and patience. This shouldn't be something you go into without some deep research. Once you go with a company and you submit a claim, that condition you submitted for will become "pre-existing" if you change insurance companies and they won't cover it. Even Figo may not be perfect for your needs, so compare. Also, do what is called a Medical Records Review for at least two, if not three, of your final choices. When you do that the companies will tell you what they will and won't cover, so there will be no surprises. Good luck!

I have been with Figo for several years and the the price each year has gone up. When I made my first claim, out of over $200, only $80 was allowed and all of that went to my deductible, which I did not realize I had. I am paying too much to not get anything back when put in a claim.

When a policy is purchased, you get to choose your annual deductible along with if you would like to include exam fee coverage for accidents and illness visits. Since I first started with FIGO DOG INSURANCE was terrible. I had 3 Papillons, I lost Monique. 20 yrs old. Went to heaven. Nov. 2019. I Belong to Nationwide Pet Insurance for my 9 yr old and 7 yr old. Anyway I joined FIGO because of my daughter and wish I never joined. FIGO does not cover anything,, customer service when you call for help, is very rude, not helpful and acts like they are mad because they have to stop and help you (it is their job). So, I just pay my monthly $42 for my 8 month old puppy and don't turn in anything, any bills because your "reply" if you do answer my claim is: it's not covered. A very un-happy part customer. Figo used to be the best! They had the best prices, best coverage and best customer service. In the last 2 years, everything has gone downhill. They have raised rates SIGNIFICANTLY every year (doubled my cat’s this year). And on top of raising rates, they’ve significantly increased premiums AND lowered coverage. My cat has numerous health issues so I can’t switch him to any other company, but am disappointed in how Figo has gone downhill.
After declining to cover my dog’s two knee surgeries (despite them NOT being pre-existing) I ended up switching her to a better insurance company after Figo raised her premium by more than double, tripled her deductible and cut her coverage down even though they barely covered ANY of her claims! It’s such a shame as not only did I LOVE Figo, but I also recommended them to many clients at the veterinary clinic I am a technician at. Now we have had to recommend other companies as Figo has had too many complaints. Insurance is insurance, but I’m a disappointed customer, to say the least.

We got our 2 -18 month old Yorkies And luckily we got Figo. They developed or had bad food allergies and we spent a lot of time at the vets and emergency rooms with all kinds test and doctors. Figo took care of us and quickly took care of our claims no questions asked, they worked with the vets and within a couple days received our payment. We called in advance to make sure some procedures were covered and they were so nice and helpful. They really are the best and we don’t know what we would have done without them. Figo used to be a great company- immediate claims processing, great prompt customer service, good rates, great coverage. I recommend many people to Figo. Recently, it seems the company changed. Now, claims are denied, claims take forever to process, customer service is slow and not helpful, rates increased while benefits decreased. Very very very disappointed. I will be cancelling my policy.

We have had Figo since we brought our Great Dane home at 8 weeks old. She is now 16 months and Figo has been there every stop of the way, making sure we never worry about making the best health care decisions. I canceled the insurance because after 2 years of paying premiums, I started to realize they did not cover simple needs. One of these being anything related to insects. My dog was bitten badly by an insect that lodged itself into his skin. I think your insurance exclusion are a total joke and make your coverage a complete waste of money (because it does not cover a pet's needs). Your company is an example of everything wrong with insurance - you take money and exclude real medical needs for a pup. I will never recommend Figo.

While we wish we could cover all claims, we cannot cover conditions that are specifically excluded from our policy, such as preventable parasites, which appears was the case for your claim. I was Figo's biggest fan- we’ve had it since he was a puppy. We paid for the unlimited plan for peace of mind. Our pup had a few minor accidents (bite at dog park, but not a large wound, pet sitter took him to urgent care because he was throwing up) but nothing major. Before he was even 3, they jacked up our deductible from $300 to $1000 and capped unlimited to $20k AND raised prices. It’s extremely hard to switch cost effectively to another insurance which is why we signed up when he was a puppy in the first place. I had Petplan for my cat with kidney disease and their rates barely changed even with all of his medications and vet visits. I’m really unhappy with their bait and switch.

The first year was great but they raised premiums and deductibles the second year despite that I’ve not had to use the insurance at all. If premium and deductible are going up the following year, we’re out and 100% shopping for new pet insurance.

I've been insuring my pets with Figo for many years and used to highly recommend them to family and friends. However, since they've been bought out, I have seen a significant decrease in coverage which shouldn't be the case as I've had my policies in place since at least 2016. They have implemented "pre-existing" circumstances which prevent them from paying out claims for services that were covered in the past (i.e. Vet ordered a UA for my cat during his last visit as I informed her that he was urinating out of the litter box. Figo refused to pay the charge as "Treatment for any condition that arose prior to the inception of the policy is considered pre-existing". I'm sorry? How? My cat has been insured under this policy for at least 5 years. It pains me that the great service that I once had is no longer available and now I have to fight over getting reimbursed for services that should be covered. I would NOT recommend Figo to anyone at this point.

Around September of 2019, Figo contacted its customers with information about a new underwriter, which would have more fair prices than the last one. I thought my rates were already excellent, so I thought this could only be good news. My policy renewed on August of 2020. I got two emails a week before, they informed me that the rates for the policies on my cats would increase by over 50% per month with the new underwriter! When I looked at the policy, they had also raised the deductible on those policies from $500 to $1,000! They increased the rate for my dog by about 20%, but they had cut the coverage as well!
I immediately canceled my policies with Figo, they had lost my trust. Being dishonest is a big red flag. They wanted to see if we could come to an agreement on a lower plan rate, but I didn’t see how that was possible, with everything raised 50% or more. I wanted the same coverage I had before, especially with my dog, and getting the same coverage for less money did not seem like a possibility, and if it was, that would have been a bigger red flag. The one good thing is that it was easy to cancel over email. I am happy with my new insurance company.

We appreciate the feedback provided as we're always looking to improve on our customer service and our coverage. We did make some internal changes by transitioning to a new underwriter this year to allow us the opportunity to provide our customers with a better experience. Pet insurance has not been worth it for us. Anytime we submit a claim we are told it can't go to our deductible because of some "pre existing" condition. We got our dog as an 8 week old puppy in perfect health and when we submitted her initial paperwork to Figo something was put into her account as "pre existing" so any claim we submit generally comes back to us as it being pre existing. I feel like we just wasted our money every month now...

While we wish we could cover all claims, we cannot cover conditions that are specifically excluded on our policy, nor conditions where the initial signs/symptoms began before the start of the policy or during the initial waiting periods, which appears was the case with your claim. We have been with Figo for over two years now. We have five dogs currently insured with them. Three of the dogs are senior pups and two are younger. When you first sign up with them, they lure you in with lower rates than their competitors. If you know insurance at all, you expect an increase in premiums, especially with pets as they age. This was no different with Figo. After the first year, we experienced about a $20 per pet increase in our premiums per month. After talking with Figo it was stated because our rates were going up because they were going through a new underwriter and that we should not experience an increase like that in the future.
While they stated we shouldnt experience an increase like this again, I thought well for sure there will be some sort of increase the year to follow because our pups are aging. So here we are in 2020 and we are getting our new rates. One of our pups is going from around 63 dollars all the way up to $237. That is over 250 percent increase in one year for only one dog! Our second pup is going from $67 to $140. Overall with all five of our dogs, they we are going to be paying over $4500 more just in increases alone for the next year! Just insane!
They also keep denying claims for my dogs acupuncture. They keep saying it is preexisting. I have my vet stating that it is not preexisting and they have explained that to Figo and Figo keeps finding reasons to deny it stating that it could be related to a preexisting disease. I guess they do not want to listen to the doctor. They told me it is unrealistic for them to pick up the phone and talk to the doctor on the phone as they need it in writing. In the real world we normally pick up the phone and talk to the person to get a better understanding. Then you follow up with an email to document the situation. I have requested to talk to the adjuster and I have been denied that request. I have reason to believe Figo is presenting unethical business practices and I would urge those who want to get a quote from Figo to stay away.

I confirmed weeks ago that you had received the requested records from my vets for Hermione’s TPLO claim. She’s been covered by Figo since her adoption 2 years ago, so you had already been receiving her records through previous claims. There had been no problems processing her previous orthopedic surgeries or any other claims made on my other 4 animals covered by Figo, but this one is taking an extremely long time. Considering how much more expensive my premiums just got for worse coverage with the new underwriter, I would’ve hoped that claims processing would have improved or at least been on par with my previous experience. I had been very happy with Figo, but now I’m sitting on a large vet bill that should be covered under Hermione’s policy with no indication of if/when I’ll receive payment.

What a great company and super easy to communicate with. The plans and descriptions were clear on what they will cover and not. I have had to make a claim and could not believe how quick Figo Responded, checked with the vet, and paid me based on my package. All within a few days of me submitting the claim in their portal. I understood that Figo Pet Insurance did not cover veterinary exams and mistakenly assumed that meant standard, well-care visits. When my puppy got sick I found out that also included exam fees, including radiology fees for reading x-rays, for sick visits. As a result, almost none of our sick puppy costs were covered by Figo.

We're sorry to hear the claim outcomes were not as expected. We do offer Vet Exam Fee Coverage which is an option at the time of purchase of a policy. It offers coverage for vet exam fees such as inpatient examination, specialist consultations/fees, emergency fee, recheck exam, etc. Since this benefit was not added at purchase to your policies we are unable to cover those vet exam fee expenses. Keep in mind though that you'll have the option to add this great benefit at renewal.

Just didn’t want to pay for anything It seemed. Then when we were going to renew they changed coverage for the main thing we had insurance for and excluded it. Spent more in insurance than in vet bills.

We purchased FIGO insurance for our brand new puppy. We purchased full coverage and a $500 deductible. When our puppy was 7 months old, he got incredibly sick and died less than 24 hours later. In that short 24 hours, we took him to three different vets. The last vet telling us that it would cost at least $20k to try and save him. Unfortunately, we decided that because his chances of survival were extremely slim we had to let him go. We are thankful that because of FIGO, we were able to make that decision with our puppy's wellbeing in mind and not the cost of his care. We filed a claim a few days later and FIGO was extremely responsive. We knew the status of our claim throughout the entire process and we received our money back within weeks. We will definitely use them again when we are ready to open our hearts to a new best friend.

I had three cats insured. In April of this year, Uni was diagnosed with a mortal coronavirus. Our vet said it was a rare mutation that did not have a treatment. After I filed the claim with Figo and received a reply saying that there is a vaccine we could have administered. I spoke with our Vet. He said that it is standard practice not to vaccinate for that particular virus because the likelihood of the cat getting virus doesn't justify getting the vaccine. My vet provided a letter stating that although the vaccine is available it is not something vets give to cat unless there is a specific reason. The letter should be on file.

Exam and I-131 treatment. Very happy that this was covered. It was a worry and we were so stressed having her spend the night away, so nice we didn't have to fight with insurance. We love Figo and our vets, they take good care of our furry family members. ❤ We are also happy with the Acupuncture for our Lilli who is doing so well now that The acupuncturist help us figure out some foods and supplements along with as needed treatments. Originally it seem like a death sentence.

My dog got very sick this year. She had to stay a few days in the vet hospital. They paid all my claims without hesitation. 1 day response. I have direct deposit, and I received the money from my claim within a week. Great service! So thankful I got this insurance! I would have been thousands out of pocket if I didn't have this coverage.

Figo is quick to respond to my claims, and I usually get a decision with 48 hours, even with the largest claims. Which with my cats a large claim can be several thousand dollars. The one time they denied a claim for a dental extraction, based on Pre-existing exclusion, all they asked for was a letter from my vet to reverse the decision and approve the claim. Overall I have been very satisfied with Figo as a company.

We were very happy with FIGO response times with the invoices we sent for Hobbs surgery. Especially when he wasn't eating and we didn't know what the problem was, it was nice not to deal with extra red tape and/or delays with reimbursement and coverage. Been very happy with FIGO.

I am VERY happy with the Figo Insurance Company. I am the sister of Carolyn ** and gave her the policy as a gift for her Smooth Fox Terrier, Ivy. This was 6 years ago. Ivy was diagnosed with kidney problems earlier this year. Otherwise she has been a healthy dog. Prior to that I never had any reason to file a claim. I have now filed a number of claims for vet bills, tests and medication for Ivy. Figo makes filing a claim so easy and one is reimbursed as a direct deposit very quickly. On occasion I have talked to the support staff and they have always been friendly and helpful. I am certainly a loyal customer. Susan **

When I first started my policy, the rate was very reasonable. Within 2 years, it almost tripled. This is why I canceled the policy. I have since opened a health savings (putting the same amount away that I would have been charged every month) account for my pet and I hope it will be enough. I just can't justify your rates.

My 11 year old Great Dane had taken ill. My primary vet said he believed it was cancer, "99% sure", and I should put him down. Well, I took that 1% chance and went to a specialist. Specialist said he could save him but it would be expensive. He went in for emergency surgery within hours. I had been out of work for a while but I would've sold a kidney to save my boy... Fortunately, I had CareCredit and Figo Insurance.
CareCredit covered the bill upfront. I was hoping Figo would cover the 80% I signed up for but at the time, it didn't matter. The surgery was $4587. Figo covered it at the agreed 80% (I'd already met my deductible) and reimbursed me $3339. All follow up visits were also covered at the agreed rate. He has fully recovered and turned 12 in July. Yes, insurance is expensive. So is emergency surgery. Without insurance the surgery would have cost $4587 and I would have been reimbursed $0. Over the years, I have had other insurances, they always looked for ways to reduce or deny coverage. None covered as well as Figo. I highly recommend Figo and will be a loyal customer so long as I have pets.

Figo has a new underwriter. The benefits are less, the cost is more, and it's impossible to switch providers because by the time the dog is a year or two old it has "pre existing conditions." Very disappointed with these changes.

I was very happy with the first year of FIGO including rates, claims service, communications, and response times. Rates increased excessively for year 2. For example, deductibles went from $250 to $750 and reimbursement rate dropped from 80% to 70%. I will not renew.

We were thankful to have had pet insurance when our beloved dog was ill for 4 months and ultimately passed away. Claims were easy to submit, payments were timely and everyone I spoke with was empathetic and helpful. We have since added a policy for our new dog and will never go without pet insurance again because of our positive experiences with Figo.

The only thing keeping this from 5 stars is that my coverage changed in that I was paying a bit more and receiving less coverage. I was able to call up and easily adjust my coverage back to something I was more comfortable with. I understand the products you offer changes, but I don't recall receiving advance notice and opportunity to adjust my coverage. That would have been appreciated, but the customer service I received was great.

Figo was affordable the first year, but be ready for the price gauge for any subsequent years that you re-enroll your pet. For example, the first year it was $350, the second year was $575, and the third year they were wanting $750!! Mind you, my pet has no significant medical issues and didn’t even meet his deductible the second year. I absolutely refused the $750 price and they were magically able to find a different underwriter and provide me with a more reasonable premium, still expensive, but more reasonable. Pay attention to what you are buying. If you want more holistic services, but you only get a $600 worth of those treatments.
With all this said, I am utterly impressed with the customer service at Figo. I worked with a very effective and professional agent during the process of finding that new magical underwriter. She was patient, kind, and addressed my concerns as best she could during the whole process. Filing claims is crazy easy through the app and claims are usually closed very quickly with the reimbursement appearing in your account within a matter of days of the initial claim. Anytime I have had questions about reimbursements or services, Figo staff have been quick to respond and knowledgeable. I do feel that Figo staff really care about their customers/pets.

Very competitive pricing with multiple options to choose from. No waiting period as many other insurances require. The turnaround time from filing a claim and reimbursement is incredibly quick if all correct/needed documents are sent. And I cannot say enough about the customer service. The customer service is outstanding!! They have always gone above and beyond any time I’ve needed assistance from them. I intend to stay a Figo customer for a long time due to the customer service.

Anytime I meet a new pet owner I always ask them if they have pet health insurance for their pet. If they don't, I always recommend Figo. I tell them how friendly, professional and prompt the staff is in taking care of the reimbursements. The cost is also a plus!

Plan rates keep going up for less and less coverage. Half the time I can’t get the login to work and have to contact customer service. Old claims sometimes show up as pending still. Have to call and get that worked out. Just not happy like I was at the beginning with you guys.

My pet had an injured ACL that needed repair. The surgery was done and was successful. I worked with a Figo claims representative who was understanding, thorough and helpful. I provided the information requested to support the claim with no adverse results. The claim was paid expeditiously. I had a very good experience.

Took a ridiculous amount of time to process claim, you kept asking for doctor's notes and vet sent everything they had several times but never seemed to be enough, finally got processed but was a pain.

My dog was diagnosed with glaucoma at only 4 years old and needed her eye removed with surgery. Figo reimbursed me quickly and efficiently and allowed me to add vet fees to my plan. I have recommended figo to every pet owner I know. Never let cost be the reason you can’t give your pet the best care possible!

I appreciate that Figo offers a 100% coverage option after meeting your deductible. They also cover the office visit cost, which most other insurance companies won’t cover. The app features a form of social media for pets insured by Figo, but I don’t really use it. The UI seems easy enough, though. I will say that when the underwriter changed, my premium and deductible both doubled... I’m not very happy about that. I’m considering shopping around for another insurance company if it goes up a huge amount again next year.

I have had Figo for about 3 years after checking into the 10 top best at that time. I also took out a competitors policy for another cat to see what differences I MIGHT experience. Both companies had plus and negative. After 3 years (4 cats previously insured) my ONLY complaint is the premiums are NOT as stable as the other company that has been around longer. If the prices were more stable, I would give 5 Stars. At beginning claims were very slow, but after Figo promising better results that they were working on, they DID come through with QUICK processing of claims.

FIGO has an easy claim process (uploading document portal) and a quick claim review and payout. The monthly rate has increased every year for one of our pets. Is it because of the medical claims we have made?

2. The change for the premium every year. We have been with Figo for 5+ years and the premium has never been the same two years in a row. Just wish we could get clarity and consistency on the premiums year over year.

Figo insurance transferred to another company recently. It was much better before. There are things now that are no longer covered that were covered before and the processing time is much longer. I used to submit a claim and it was processed within a couple of hours. I'm still happy with them though.

Every time I submit a claim I always get a message that more information is needed after I submit everything I've been given from the doctor. It seems as though every effort is being made to decline the claim or make it difficult enough for me to withdraw my claim.

In order to process a claim, we do require medical records & the vet invoice showing services have been paid in full. We tried to obtain the records & invoice from the vet but were unsuccessful. I've had Figo pet insurance since 2018. My French bulldog is allergic to everything and takes shots every 10 days. Figo has covered just about everything. Process for filing claims is an easy online upload and claims payments are direct deposit within a couple of days. Highly recommend but get pet insurance before your pet gets sick.

These guys are great! They always reply quickly and reimburse on time. The only “complaint” I have is that you need to make sure your vet knows exactly what to send in because if they have to wait to send in different until after your year expires, even if you made the claim prior, it gets added to your new deductible. But other than that bummer, I recommend them for everything else!

With the previous underwriter, things such as DIARRHEA, were covered, given that it was not due to an “incurable” cause. Today, I got denied a diarrhea claim because my dog had diarrhea in 2017. They considered that pre existing. The last claim for diarrhea was over 1 year ago and that was covered even though it was listed due to “unknown causes”. This time, my dog had diarrhea again, which they will not pay for because it has the same cause (“unknown”). Sometimes you just get an upset stomach. The cause is not always identifiable but to say diarrhea is a pre existing condition because he has had the symptom before is ridiculous. They previously covered it for “unknown causes” and now will not because again the cause of the diarrhea (that last happened 1 year ago) was unknown.

I’m quite disappointed that Figo did not look out for their current policyholders when they decided to switch underwriting and change our policies to less coverage but provided no decrease in price. This is a sign of disloyalty and I will be switching to more reliable pet insurance. I truly Regret signing up for Figo.

Staph infection claim was denied for a preexisting condition of which I have no idea what they are talking about. My dog has never had a staph infection and wasn't even alive 18 months prior to the pet policy taking affect. Typical insurance response to a claim.

Purchased a policy when we brought our puppy home. At three months old, he had an accident that caused skull fractures and a detached retina. He is now blind in that eye 1 year later. He has been to several veterinarians and ophthalmologists, and Figo has been excellent with timely reimbursements and answering questions. I had an appeal that went through without a hitch once they understood what was going on with a different health situation. I only wished that they offered wellness coverage!

A new underwriter cost me a 100%, 250% & 325% increase in my premiums for 3 out of my 4 pet. These increases also decreased my annual benefits for all 3 pets by $4,000, almost quadrupled my deductible and decreased my reimbursement by 10%. So basically, I'm receiving less bang for my buck. In the end I canceled the policy for one of my pets who did not have any pre-existing conditions (moved to another pet insurance company), but the other two I had to remain with Figo as they have pre-existing conditions. I re-arranged the plan to pay exorbitant premiums to get the best deal based off of my pet's health conditions and projected health costs for this year. I expect premiums to increase each year, but this was unbelievably backhanded. I work as a manager for a veterinary practice and had been recommending Figo to our customers - NOT ANYMORE!

The service was awful! I had to go toe to toe with customer support to file claims and agriculture the reason why the claim was valid. Not only that, if I filed a claim it would just sit in the cur never to be looked at until you (the customer) calls in about the status of it. NEVER AGAIN!! I’ll just go back to my old insurance for my dog.

Always continue to make excuses and make a simple process difficult to get out from having to pay claims. Could have easily contacted the vet for the notes and used that as an excuse to not pay a claim. We would provide them what they requested then they would come back with other requests just to avoid paying out claim. Canceled because of this.

We are sorry your claims experience was not a positive one. In order for us to process claims, we do require a pet's medical history. After several failed attempts in trying to obtain medical records from the veterinarian, the claim was placed in pending status. Once the required records are received the claim can be re-opened and processed accordingly. We are sorry that you decided to cancel. I loved having Figo for our pets. Our dog had some weird health issues pop up in his first two years of life, and having Figo made the financial burden of these complications MUCH less of a strain on us. The monthly premium was reasonable, the deductible was low, and the process for submitting claims was a breeze. Customer service reps are also really friendly and helpful. We ended up cancelling our policies after two years because the monthly premiums and deductibles were raised, and reimbursements were lowered. I was bummed to have to cancel the policies because their services were great.
