    Decent emergency insurance and good customer service. Would be best for a dog or outside cat. I own a indoor cat named Boxcar and for him even though he’s a senior cat it’s not worth the cost. But definitely I can see how it would help with emergency vet payments for a serious injury or repeated cancer treatments.

    The day you get a pet, should also be the day you get insurance for them. All three of my dogs are insured through FIGO. I opted for the ultimate on my dogs. It has covered chemo, hydrotherapy, Nephrectomy and so many other things. With the Figo app it’s hassle free. And everyone I have ever spoke with has been so nice and helpful. Do yourself and your pet a favor! Insure them!! And insure them with Figo.

    I had a premium policy for more than a year, the last week my dog had an accident and I went to the vet, the bill was over 1k and I had to Z{ay for every test and service at the vet after I did submit the claim via Figo account, I was very surprised that this insurance denied any reimbursements, I mean they are stating that they do cover x-rays, blood test and etc BUT THEY DENIED ANY REIMBURSEMENTS EVEN FOR MY DOG MEDICATION! Such a rip off! Do not go with this insurance, be aware of such a scam company!

    We have had FIGO since our dog Chuck was 3 months old. He is now 4 and the light of our lives!!! Loving, affectionate and well behaved. Unfortunately he has also had an ACL procedure, tumor removed and now Lymphoma. We have incurred thousands and thousands of dollars in chemotherapy treatments and related procedures.     We researched different companies for dog health insurance. I found FIGO suited our needs the best. Between reading reviews to reading the FIGO information and asking our Vet and other dog owners, FIGO stood out as one of the best. Our puppy had multiple issues in her first year so it was important to feel supported with the insurance. Claims were easy with the App and the payments from FIGO came directly into my checking account. We did go with a good policy that covers most any illness and the emergency or office visit for illness. I am impressed so far. I expect at some point the policy will go up in expense but I have heard that you can sometimes get it lowered if you feel it is too much.     My overall experience with their customer service was poor. I attempted to access the live vet feature late at night, only to find that my account was listed as inactive although I had just renewed it. The company stated an apology and otherwise did little to recognize the cost, both financial and mental, that I incurred due to being unable to access this feature. My insurance premium for one of my dogs also rose $264 over the course of two years--an exponential increase that I felt I would not be able to keep up with financially. I decided that I would do better saving my money for a medical emergency rather than paying the high premiums charged by Figo.

    When I was looking for pet insurance for my rescue dog, I did a massive amount of research. I compared premiums, deductibles, coverage, and age limitations. I read many *many* reviews, and changed my mind multiple times. In the end, I landed on Figo and I'm extremely glad I did. Figo's premium rates are quite reasonable, and their deductible structure is highly customizable and generous. My dog's current plan covers *90%* of non-wellness expenses after a $500 deductible. I did not find any other pet insurance plan that offered anything close. They have even covered behavioral expenses, including visits to a certified behaviorist and medication.

    In addition to all this, I love the fact that Figo allows me to submit and resolve claims entirely without paper. They process all my claims through their web platform and smart phone app and they process them FAST. When I am due to be reimbursed for an expense, the money is direct deposited into my bank account, usually within fewer than 24 hours. It's hard to beat that kind of turnaround time. My calls to customer service have been efficient and friendly, and I haven't had to fight Figo on a single claim. Because of all this, I am thrilled with my own choice, and am constantly referring other pet parents to check out Figo for their pet's insurance needs.

    When an insurance company chooses to switch underwriters during a pandemic with the knowledge that some customers will be unable to switch insurance is a move by a company that doesn't really care about the animals they insure. My cat Brownee right before the start of the pandemic was diagnosed with cancer and during the pandemic hypertension. The higher premiums are painful on my pocket and I raised my deductible to $1500 to avoid the high monthly premium payments; They also engage in shady behavior now -- they deducted double the renewal amount and then would not refund the full amount.

    Without any advance notice they decided to deduct two months of premiums and the billing dept has to clear it with some other dept before refund. I will not recommend them to anyone who has an animal they need to purchase insurance for and would tell them to look into other forms of pet insurance. I don't like having to say that this choice I made about 4 years ago is now a mistake. It's about profits, not the well being of animals.

    Figo has been wonderful for me and my dog Duncan. We've had their insurance since he was a puppy and I'm so grateful for that because Duncan has some health issues. He was diagnosed with an auto-immune disease around a year and a half and we've had to submit a lot of claims for it. Regardless of his condition I would still have this insurance, especially for big dogs. It's super easy to submit claims and we've rarely had issues with them.     The sole reason for rating our family's experience with FIGO as "NEUTRAL" is due to the fact that FIGO decided to no longer offer dental coverage for our cats. I cannot help but assume this was a direct result of actually using that coverage when we did have it. For the most part, we are happy enough with FIGO to not look for an alternative company at this time, but our experience with FIGO's discontinuation of dental coverage has been disappointing. I had hoped that FIGO would be different from the typical insurance company, which effectively penalizes the customer for actually using the coverage they are paying for each month. In this case, we used it, and consequently FIGO ended it.

    I've had my dog Bella insured through Figo since she was a puppy, for 3 years now. This year my premium skyrocketed, in part because Figo changed underwriters. It has almost TRIPLED in monthly cost! And unfortunately, since my dog is already being treated for a chronic medical condition, if I were to switch to another pet insurance company, that chronic condition would be considered pre-existing and would not be covered for the rest of her life. So I am essentially stuck with Figo. Having said all of that, I will say that filing claims is super simple, and getting reimbursed is very quick. I appreciate how easy it is to file claims using their app, and they're usually processed within a couple of days, with reimbursement following shortly behind.

    Last May our 4 year old Bichon-Frise suddenly displayed neurological problems. She was rapidly losing use of her hind legs, and became painful to touch. We brought her to our local vet, and they referred us to a full service clinic that has a neurosurgeon on staff. Turns out our dog has a fairly common condition, intervertebral disc disease (IVDD), a diagnosis given to us while we sat in our car in the parking lot. A treatment plan which included surgery was given, and a price range of $7200-$9600 was given, and we had to pay the low end of range for service to be rendered. We authorized a payment to our credit card.

    The dog recovered, final bill was actually $6100, I submitted the invoice via Figo's app, and within 48 hours, I had reimbursement for appropriate amount in my designated bank account. Three months after surgery, our dog had a relapse. We repeated the same steps, and again Figo reimbursed for surgery. On top of all this, Figo paid for therapy. My wife and I would have paid for the first surgery regardless, but thanks to Figo our decision to do the second surgery was quite easy.

    I liked Figo insurance. However they changed underwriters and they hiked the price of coverage for my dog to a ridiculously high rate and for less coverage than I previously had. I chose to cancel the policy because I was able to find better coverage at a better price with a few other insurers, and ultimately went with an insurer that has better coverage, with a lower deductible, and a lower premium.

    I actually cancelled my Figo policies for both dogs about 9 months ago due to the huge increases in premiums and the horrible customer service experiences. I was told that suddenly, a skin condition that you had been covering for the LIFE of my older dog, was now PREEXISTING, due to a new underwriter, so you would not cover it any more. Bait and switch! And then in a period of about 2 years premiums nearly tripled. Paying more for less service. I am now with NationWide, fair premiums, great customer service, and timely claims....no hassles. I will never recommend FIGO again.

    We initially loved Figo, especially because we insured our cat later in life, and not a lot of pet insurance companies offer decent pet insurance when the pets are older. Figo (or at least our policy) was originally underwritten by Markel. When they were bought out by Independence America (last year or two), they literally tripled our premium at the renewal date, and substantially reduced the benefits and also created a huge spike in our deductible. Plus, the customer service during that transition was very uneducated and not very helpful. That alone was very disappointing. But then, they became incredibly focused on scrutinizing each claim to find a reason to not pay it. Any loophole they can find, they leverage it.

    I have had to appeal two separate claims and even with letters from the vet, indicating why the treatment fell under my policy’s terms, they don’t budge - or budge very minutely, but not enough to really make a difference. Also, some of the terms make no sense. For example, they don’t cover oral surgery, at all - even if it’s due to an illness or disease. Our cat has an oral mass that needed to be removed and in order to remove the mass, they had to remove the tooth. Figo decided not to cover the entire surgery because they claim that it was oral surgery to do a tooth extraction. They said they would only cover it, if it was an accident/injury - not an illness. But the main reason that we get pet insurance is to cover illness, diseases, etc. This simply doesn’t make sense to me. And now, they are not paying things that they had paid a few months ago (still same policy year).

    It’s super sad and discouraging to pour so much into premiums and deductibles, only to find them constantly finding loopholes to not pay the claims. We have Healthy Paws for our other 3 creatures - literally Thank God. HP is the absolute best pet insurance company, and are very generous in their claim reviews and payments, and take their customers at their word, placing a high value on customer care / service. If you’re going to invest in pet insurance, skip Figo, for sure. Choose Healthy Paws.

    My dog is around 13 years old and I rescued her over 8 years ago. I hadn't really considered insurance until she started getting older and was worried that the time would come when she would have an issue and knew I would do whatever it took to take care of her. I took out pet insurance over a year ago before she had any issues. The first year I put through a couple visits and had no issue with reimbursement. Just this past month she had to have emergency surgery and between the vet visit and the subsequent emergency room visit, it was over $8,000.

    While I had no issues with previous submissions, I was concerned that because of the high cost of surgery the insurance company might not want to reimburse me. It took longer than the other submissions but the other ones were reimbursed within a couple days. Figo had to wait for some notes from my vet and emergency room. They closed the case before they received those notes but opened it right away after I called and got my vet to send the notes. Once that happened, I received reimbursement of about $6,50, after deductible with my 90% plan. The only thing not reimbursed was tax. All in all, even with those issues and the high cost, it took them about 8-10 days to approve the claim and to deposit it in my account.

    My premiums went up after the first year but the reality is with her age and the submissions, it was to be expected. I'm not looking forward to what the premiums will be next year but there's not much I wouldn't do for my girl. I'd definitely recommend them as I've not had any problems with coverage and it saved me so much.

    Pleased with my time as a Figo policy holder. Mobile app was iffy, had to close and open a couple times to get it to work, when it worked it was pretty slow. Filing a claim was usually quite simple and the review time and reimbursement time was pretty quick. My only displeasure was when Figo changed their underwriter (I think?) and thus changed my policy. The new "equivalent" policy was a rip-off. Raised my deductible by about $200, raised my monthly payments by about $25, and then lowered the percentage coverage offered. It was insulting and very scammy. Luckily, ending my time with this company was easy and simple. If Figo has a policy you find reasonable, it was a good company to work with to make sure my dog was kept healthy and I was kept not broke doing so.

    I loved the company when I first signed on. Low premiums and fast claims processes. I signed on with them because of the premium price. My dog was diagnosed with a heart murmur. They were very easy to deal with. I expected premiums to go up after she needed medication. They didn't go up much the first year. The next year though the premium more than doubled, the deductible went up $500, the co-insurance went down 10%, and the rest of the coverage lessened as well. Why? Because Florida changed state laws to allow them to hike up prices. I understand this is a business but this was ridiculous!

    I cancelled and now have to take my chances with something going wrong because I could not pay for the high premium plus my dog's medications, which I would have to pay for since there is no way I would meet the deductible unless something extreme happened. Medications are considered preexisting conditions for pets so I can't go to another company. I could not recommend this company at this time.

    I am now stuck with an insurer that does not believe in supporting dogs through the NUMBER ONE killer for dogs...behavioral concerns. While my veterinarian prescribed behavioral therapies to help my dog have a better quality of life and greater quality of life for the humans (AND reap the benefits on health that behavior therapies give). I chose Figo years ago because of this, but now I wish I could switch to Nationwide. I am stuck and I am so sorry that I have referred clients to Figo now that they have been subjected to the same switch. PLEASE SWITCH BACK TO THE PREVIOUS UNDERWRITER. I am not sure how this can be legal, but I am guessing it is, but that doesn't mean it is right.     I compared most of the pet insurance companies on the market and Figo seems to be at the top. I chose a midrange plan which is $79/month. I personally feel that is a lot of money a month for not covering any preventive care, non preventive medication, and preventive medication. I have yet in 3 years had a reason to use an emergency service but I fear once I lower my grade of insurance or discontinue it my dog will suffer an injury I can not afford to pay for. I feel like pet insurance gets you where they know you can’t say no and the payments are extremely high. I however as I said never had a negative experience with them as I never filled a emergency claim. All claims filled for non preventive meds were denied.

    I don't understand how you can claim that diarrhea and issues with eyes is a pre existing condition. What cause diarrhea or eye issues a year ago more than likely isn't the cause now. Bandit was never diagnosed with a illness or condition then or now. We may cancel the insurance because of this because this means anytime, regardless of the cause, when he gets diarrhea, the meds won't be covered.

    When I started with Figo, my work recommended it. I never had issues with your company and if anything you were great with my former dog. Now that you’ve combined with another company, my deductible went from $250 to $1,000. How is that even right? Then you tried to find any means to tell me my puppy had preexisting conditions which wasn’t true. I had to appeal it. Ollie has medical needs and I unfortunately can’t switch companies or I would. I find the “new” Figo not there for me or my pets. I’ve recommended your company to SO many people in the past and they’ve signed up with you. I even told my vet about how great you are. I will never recommended your company and I let my vet know about the huge increase in my deductible for both my pets.

    Last year I signed my dog up and raves about this insurance. Then the renewal came around and they doubled my monthly payment and cover less with no warning. If I knew this was going to happen I would’ve never signed up with them. Customer service though is very good and they usually are quick to resolve issues, although I have a claim from June that hasn’t been paid that I have called 3 times for already. Frustrating. Not sure if I’d recommend anymore.

    Unfortunately my first experience with FIGO was not good. Just came to the US with my dog, and on his 4th day here he had an accident while playing with other dogs at the dog park. Fortunately we had bought pet insurance as soon as we landed, but as it came to be the claim was rejected because there was a 3 day waiting period on the insurance. While I completely understand that these rules are on the policy to prevent fraudulent claims, the nature of insurance is to cover any and all surprises that may affect your household economy, and unfortunately for us it couldn’t come at a worst time (just moving to the US, unemployed). Sad to say that FIGO DID NOT HAVE OUR BACK ON THIS ONE.

    Reviewing all of the plans in 2016 when I got my new dog, there were about 8 different pet insurance companies that were pretty legit, I came upon one of the very newest ones, Figo... and they blew me away! What I liked about them is that I could tell they REALLY did their homework — I could tell they studied all of the other companies out there, kept all the good stuff these companies offered and left all the bad stuff behind. The premium price was great. The coverage was great. I spoke to them on the phone and got a taste of their customer service. Well, they sold me!

    1. Coverage: they cover everything I need — and I have always been reimbursed for everything as I've expected, even physical therapy. My dog unfortunately had to have four surgeries this year, two major, two minor, and everything was covered. Also, they are one of the few companies (maybe now the only one?) that covers 100% of the bill, if you choose that option (there are also several lower coverage options for lower premiums). Most other companies don't offer more than 90% and some even less than that. They also cover all exam fees as an optional add-on — many companies don't offer that option at all.

    2. Claims Process: yes, at one time they did have a problem there. But they have since corrected that and I usually get most reimbursements approved within a day or two and then it just takes another day or two for them to direct deposit into my account.

    3. Customer Service: excellent! I actually have one customer service rep who helps me regularly and she is terrific. But a lot can be done on their app — they were the first pet insurance company to come out with an app and they have the best one in the business. Very, very easy to submit a claim — and you can look at all the documents 24/7.

    4. Premium Coverage: It was great first two years. Then they changed carriers and it went up exponentially. I was none too pleased. They finally changed their carrier earlier this year and it went DOWN exponentially yet my coverage remained the same (except they no longer cover dental for reasons of illness, only accidents). So, they listened to their customers and I couldn't be happier.

    I couldn't be more pleased how things are going with Figo. As long as my annual rate increase is incremental and not exponential, I anticipate my happiness will not diminish. One thing to do in your search for pet insurance: compare at least three different companies, or even a half-dozen, if you have the time and patience. This shouldn't be something you go into without some deep research. Once you go with a company and you submit a claim, that condition you submitted for will become "pre-existing" if you change insurance companies and they won't cover it. Even Figo may not be perfect for your needs, so compare. Also, do what is called a Medical Records Review for at least two, if not three, of your final choices. When you do that the companies will tell you what they will and won't cover, so there will be no surprises. Good luck!

    Since I first started with FIGO DOG INSURANCE was terrible. I had 3 Papillons, I lost Monique. 20 yrs old. Went to heaven. Nov. 2019. I Belong to Nationwide Pet Insurance for my 9 yr old and 7 yr old. Anyway I joined FIGO because of my daughter and wish I never joined. FIGO does not cover anything,, customer service when you call for help, is very rude, not helpful and acts like they are mad because they have to stop and help you (it is their job). So, I just pay my monthly $42 for my 8 month old puppy and don't turn in anything, any bills because your "reply" if you do answer my claim is: it's not covered. A very un-happy part customer.     Figo used to be the best! They had the best prices, best coverage and best customer service. In the last 2 years, everything has gone downhill. They have raised rates SIGNIFICANTLY every year (doubled my cat’s this year). And on top of raising rates, they’ve significantly increased premiums AND lowered coverage. My cat has numerous health issues so I can’t switch him to any other company, but am disappointed in how Figo has gone downhill.

    After declining to cover my dog’s two knee surgeries (despite them NOT being pre-existing) I ended up switching her to a better insurance company after Figo raised her premium by more than double, tripled her deductible and cut her coverage down even though they barely covered ANY of her claims! It’s such a shame as not only did I LOVE Figo, but I also recommended them to many clients at the veterinary clinic I am a technician at. Now we have had to recommend other companies as Figo has had too many complaints. Insurance is insurance, but I’m a disappointed customer, to say the least.

    I canceled the insurance because after 2 years of paying premiums, I started to realize they did not cover simple needs. One of these being anything related to insects. My dog was bitten badly by an insect that lodged itself into his skin. I think your insurance exclusion are a total joke and make your coverage a complete waste of money (because it does not cover a pet's needs). Your company is an example of everything wrong with insurance - you take money and exclude real medical needs for a pup. I will never recommend Figo.

    I was Figo's biggest fan- we’ve had it since he was a puppy. We paid for the unlimited plan for peace of mind. Our pup had a few minor accidents (bite at dog park, but not a large wound, pet sitter took him to urgent care because he was throwing up) but nothing major. Before he was even 3, they jacked up our deductible from $300 to $1000 and capped unlimited to $20k AND raised prices. It’s extremely hard to switch cost effectively to another insurance which is why we signed up when he was a puppy in the first place. I had Petplan for my cat with kidney disease and their rates barely changed even with all of his medications and vet visits. I’m really unhappy with their bait and switch.

    I've been insuring my pets with Figo for many years and used to highly recommend them to family and friends. However, since they've been bought out, I have seen a significant decrease in coverage which shouldn't be the case as I've had my policies in place since at least 2016. They have implemented "pre-existing" circumstances which prevent them from paying out claims for services that were covered in the past (i.e. Vet ordered a UA for my cat during his last visit as I informed her that he was urinating out of the litter box. Figo refused to pay the charge as "Treatment for any condition that arose prior to the inception of the policy is considered pre-existing". I'm sorry? How? My cat has been insured under this policy for at least 5 years. It pains me that the great service that I once had is no longer available and now I have to fight over getting reimbursed for services that should be covered. I would NOT recommend Figo to anyone at this point.

    Around September of 2019, Figo contacted its customers with information about a new underwriter, which would have more fair prices than the last one. I thought my rates were already excellent, so I thought this could only be good news. My policy renewed on August of 2020. I got two emails a week before, they informed me that the rates for the policies on my cats would increase by over 50% per month with the new underwriter! When I looked at the policy, they had also raised the deductible on those policies from $500 to $1,000! They increased the rate for my dog by about 20%, but they had cut the coverage as well!

    I immediately canceled my policies with Figo, they had lost my trust. Being dishonest is a big red flag. They wanted to see if we could come to an agreement on a lower plan rate, but I didn’t see how that was possible, with everything raised 50% or more. I wanted the same coverage I had before, especially with my dog, and getting the same coverage for less money did not seem like a possibility, and if it was, that would have been a bigger red flag. The one good thing is that it was easy to cancel over email. I am happy with my new insurance company.

    Pet insurance has not been worth it for us. Anytime we submit a claim we are told it can't go to our deductible because of some "pre existing" condition. We got our dog as an 8 week old puppy in perfect health and when we submitted her initial paperwork to Figo something was put into her account as "pre existing" so any claim we submit generally comes back to us as it being pre existing.     We have been with Figo for over two years now. We have five dogs currently insured with them. Three of the dogs are senior pups and two are younger. When you first sign up with them, they lure you in with lower rates than their competitors. If you know insurance at all, you expect an increase in premiums, especially with pets as they age. This was no different with Figo. After the first year, we experienced about a $20 per pet increase in our premiums per month. After talking with Figo it was stated because our rates were going up because they were going through a new underwriter and that we should not experience an increase like that in the future.

    While they stated we shouldnt experience an increase like this again, I thought well for sure there will be some sort of increase the year to follow because our pups are aging. So here we are in 2020 and we are getting our new rates. One of our pups is going from around 63 dollars all the way up to $237. That is over 250 percent increase in one year for only one dog! Our second pup is going from $67 to $140. Overall with all five of our dogs, they we are going to be paying over $4500 more just in increases alone for the next year! Just insane!

    They also keep denying claims for my dogs acupuncture. They keep saying it is preexisting. I have my vet stating that it is not preexisting and they have explained that to Figo and Figo keeps finding reasons to deny it stating that it could be related to a preexisting disease. I guess they do not want to listen to the doctor. They told me it is unrealistic for them to pick up the phone and talk to the doctor on the phone as they need it in writing. In the real world we normally pick up the phone and talk to the person to get a better understanding. Then you follow up with an email to document the situation. I have requested to talk to the adjuster and I have been denied that request. I have reason to believe Figo is presenting unethical business practices and I would urge those who want to get a quote from Figo to stay away.

    I confirmed weeks ago that you had received the requested records from my vets for Hermione’s TPLO claim. She’s been covered by Figo since her adoption 2 years ago, so you had already been receiving her records through previous claims. There had been no problems processing her previous orthopedic surgeries or any other claims made on my other 4 animals covered by Figo, but this one is taking an extremely long time. Considering how much more expensive my premiums just got for worse coverage with the new underwriter, I would’ve hoped that claims processing would have improved or at least been on par with my previous experience.     We purchased FIGO insurance for our brand new puppy. We purchased full coverage and a $500 deductible. When our puppy was 7 months old, he got incredibly sick and died less than 24 hours later. In that short 24 hours, we took him to three different vets. The last vet telling us that it would cost at least $20k to try and save him.     I had three cats insured. In April of this year, Uni was diagnosed with a mortal coronavirus. Our vet said it was a rare mutation that did not have a treatment. After I filed the claim with Figo and received a reply saying that there is a vaccine we could have administered. I spoke with our Vet. He said that it is standard practice not to vaccinate for that particular virus because the likelihood of the cat getting virus doesn't justify getting the vaccine. My vet provided a letter stating that although the vaccine is available it is not something vets give to cat unless there is a specific reason. The letter should be on file.

    My 11 year old Great Dane had taken ill. My primary vet said he believed it was cancer, "99% sure", and I should put him down. Well, I took that 1% chance and went to a specialist. Specialist said he could save him but it would be expensive. He went in for emergency surgery within hours. I had been out of work for a while but I would've sold a kidney to save my boy... Fortunately, I had CareCredit and Figo Insurance.

    CareCredit covered the bill upfront. I was hoping Figo would cover the 80% I signed up for but at the time, it didn't matter. The surgery was $4587. Figo covered it at the agreed 80% (I'd already met my deductible) and reimbursed me $3339. All follow up visits were also covered at the agreed rate. He has fully recovered and turned 12 in July. Yes, insurance is expensive. So is emergency surgery. Without insurance the surgery would have cost $4587 and I would have been reimbursed $0. Over the years, I have had other insurances, they always looked for ways to reduce or deny coverage. None covered as well as Figo. I highly recommend Figo and will be a loyal customer so long as I have pets.

    Figo was affordable the first year, but be ready for the price gauge for any subsequent years that you re-enroll your pet. For example, the first year it was $350, the second year was $575, and the third year they were wanting $750!! Mind you, my pet has no significant medical issues and didn’t even meet his deductible the second year. I absolutely refused the $750 price and they were magically able to find a different underwriter and provide me with a more reasonable premium, still expensive, but more reasonable. Pay attention to what you are buying. If you want more holistic services, but you only get a $600 worth of those treatments.

    With all this said, I am utterly impressed with the customer service at Figo. I worked with a very effective and professional agent during the process of finding that new magical underwriter. She was patient, kind, and addressed my concerns as best she could during the whole process. Filing claims is crazy easy through the app and claims are usually closed very quickly with the reimbursement appearing in your account within a matter of days of the initial claim. Anytime I have had questions about reimbursements or services, Figo staff have been quick to respond and knowledgeable. I do feel that Figo staff really care about their customers/pets.

The app features a form of social media for pets insured by Figo, but I don’t really use it. The UI seems easy enough, though. I will say that when the underwriter changed, my premium and deductible both doubled... I’m not very happy about that. I’m considering shopping around for another insurance company if it goes up a huge amount again next year.

    We usually have a great experience with Figo - submitting claims is easy and painless, responses are always quick and explanations are clear. There are only 2 areas where I wish Figo did a little bit better:
    1. Coverage for preventive care. Not offering preventive care or even allowing the preventive care to count against the deductible seems counterintuitive to me. If my pets are vaccinated and in good health, doesn't that save you money in the long run versus if they aren't and you have to pay out a claim to treat?

    2. The change for the premium every year. We have been with Figo for 5+ years and the premium has never been the same two years in a row. Just wish we could get clarity and consistency on the premiums year over year.

    With the previous underwriter, things such as DIARRHEA, were covered, given that it was not due to an “incurable” cause. Today, I got denied a diarrhea claim because my dog had diarrhea in 2017. They considered that pre existing. The last claim for diarrhea was over 1 year ago and that was covered even though it was listed due to “unknown causes”. This time, my dog had diarrhea again, which they will not pay for because it has the same cause (“unknown”). Sometimes you just get an upset stomach. The cause is not always identifiable but to say diarrhea is a pre existing condition because he has had the symptom before is ridiculous. They previously covered it for “unknown causes” and now will not because again the cause of the diarrhea (that last happened 1 year ago) was unknown.

    A new underwriter cost me a 100%, 250% & 325% increase in my premiums for 3 out of my 4 pet. These increases also decreased my annual benefits for all 3 pets by $4,000, almost quadrupled my deductible and decreased my reimbursement by 10%. So basically, I'm receiving less bang for my buck. In the end I canceled the policy for one of my pets who did not have any pre-existing conditions (moved to another pet insurance company), but the other two I had to remain with Figo as they have pre-existing conditions. I re-arranged the plan to pay exorbitant premiums to get the best deal based off of my pet's health conditions and projected health costs for this year. I expect premiums to increase each year, but this was unbelievably backhanded. I work as a manager for a veterinary practice and had been recommending Figo to our customers - NOT ANYMORE!

    We switched to Figo from Allstate in 2019, two months after our 3 year old Bernese Mountain Dog got diagnosed with lymphoma. Not only did Figo make a huge difference financially and allowed us to make choices for our girl based on what we felt was best, and not what we could financially afford, but when we made the heartbreaking decision to let our girl go, Figo reimbursed us a prorated premium amount because we only had our coverage for 2 months before she passed. I could have cried, we were so broken in spirit and financially that I couldn't believe they reimbursed us after we had already used our coverage!

    I now have it for our one year old bernese/pyrenees mix and am so happy. I've recommended Figo to all of my friends with pets. I also love that you can modify coverage for what fits best for you. If I were to change anything about Figo it would be the app. Its usability is a little off, and while it's cute to have a pet social media factor, this is a pet insurance company first and should present as such in the app, but instead first presents as a pet social media. Other than that they're great, and the Evie claim submission chat is excellent usability.

    My mother had originally signed my cat up for insurance with Figo to give us peace of mind should health issues come up. The one time we really needed coverage from Figo was when our vet discovered absorptive lesions on my cat's teeth, therefore needing extraction.     Overall I think that FIGO is a quality product, however, you could make improvements to your already slick website. It is very difficult to find the billing portion as it is not listed under the account but under "insurance", which to me being in the insurance business makes no sense. If there is an amount due, you cannot simply click on that to pay and I sometimes think that could be by design. Also, every year the rate increases?     Hi Figo, When my chihuahua got heart disease a couple years ago you were there for us. I don't know what I would have done without you. You helped us through her entire illness. She passed away about two years ago. I wanted to remain loyal to Figo because of all the help you gave us. Unfortunately recently it hasn't been going as well with Figo. I adopted a new dog. She came from the Southern states and tested negative for Heartworm at the shelter. I brought her home and a year later she tested positive. It's an expensive treatment and Figo is covering nothing. I'm disappointed about that.

    I have heard that more and more rescue dogs from the Southern states are being brought here to Chicago and many of them have beginning (undetectable) stages of heartworm. Later the owners, who want to do the right thing by adopting, are having to pay for this expensive treatment. The reason I have insurance is because I don't have a savings for something like this. But Figo let me down this time.

    We adopted Smokey from a no-kill Shelter "Paws Chicago" when he was 1 year old. After 4 years with Figo Insurance Policy, the new underwriter (I suppose) decided Smokey has pre-existing conditions and the only allergy problem he has will not be reimbursed. He cancels the old policy and in the new policy allergies are not covered. The customer service representative even mentioned our premiums are high because Figo Pet Insurance has already reimbursed $4000.

    I have never heard the insurance company's return money if no claims are submitted. If you are thinking of taking care of a dog for more than 4 years, please don't buy insurance from "Figo Pet Insurance". I don't have faith in the company's moral character.     I regret choosing FIGO. With new underwriters, they are no longer covering allergy treatments for Norbi. They sent us a letter stating that previous claims were processed in error. They are taking 2 non-specific symptoms (red/painful ears) and claiming this is a pre-existing condition. His dx for that visit was Otitis Externa and he did get better with med for ear infection. Does this mean that if they can connect any future diagnoses with previous, non-specific symptoms they can deny these claims? It's upsetting that our dog may not be able to get the treatment that he's been doing well with AND FIGO has been paying.

    After much research when I first adopted my kitten I opted for Figo for coverage due to their reasonable rates and good coverage options. I knew policy costs would slightly increase over the duration of my time with them, however what I did not expect was for there to be a complete change in coverage and cost. I have been paying for a policy with 100% reimbursement after a $250 deductible and $14K annual benefit, which is now being altered to a $10K annual benefit, $1000 deductible, and only 90% reimbursement for MORE than I have been paying for the past two years.

    This dramatic change in policy coverage and cost is unwieldy. I am now with a 2 year old cat looking for other insurance options for her because I have completely lost faith in this company that they wont keep hiking up costs and reducing coverage. I have attempted to call them, left a voicemail, and have not yet received back any reply. I am very disappointed in this experience and would have chosen a different company from the beginning had I known they would alter their costs and coverage to this extent.

    Switched to Figo two years ago because of their reasonable non-annual rate for my 6 yrs old dog. This year we took him to ER for a good treatment of medicine and also a surgery to relieve his pain for a total $4000+.     Signed up my older dog and cat last year and was very impressed with the rates and customer service. Reimbursement times were processed in a timely manner. Out of nowhere I was notified in July that my renewal rates for the same coverage would be over double what I was paying. Was told the same spiel they’ve been writing on this site after every negative review (have a new underwriter with better track record, blah blah blah). I ultimately chose to pay the higher rate but things just went downhill from there.

    My beloved dog who is everything to me just had cancer surgery and lo and behold the claim has been in process for almost a month now. I was told this is due to an influx of claims but how is that my problem? I’m paying good money (which they have no problem taking out each month when due) and I would expect at the very least their fabulous new underwriter would streamline the process so their quick turnaround time they guarantee would be honored. Even when I questioned their customer service rep today they said the amount of time I have been waiting is beyond what their policy is and they would make a note my claim would be expedited.

    Lo and behold I received an email tonight saying it would be bumped out another week. My credit card payment is coming due and I need to pay it before I incur a substantial finance charge. That doesn’t seem to matter to Figo. Shame on you Figo for charging more for a drop in customer service. With my baby’s cancer I’m stuck because another company will view it as a preexisting condition. Figo you can write whatever you want in response to this review but it won’t matter with me. Your mission in helping pet parents has become horribly wrong and you are only looking at the bottom line now. People come to you in their most vulnerable times and you are capitalizing on that which is inexcusable. So disappointed.

    Had a policy through my work at a veterinary specialty hospital. Signed my pets up when they were middle aged before I worked there because I believed in their product and they were local. We in the vet community recommended them to clients when they were a start up. They in turned helped by providing us "vet policies" at somewhat discounted price. We utilized their services as it made having a pet affordable and part of a benefit provided by my hospital to me as an employee. About 6 years into having the policy they increased their policy prices almost 350% which forced us to have to drop them. This left my, now elderly pets, who developed conditions along the way, without insurance. We had to move another provider but my pets conditions now won't be covered as they considered preexisting. They did this to multiple veterinary hospital employees.

    Nobody in vet med is rich by any means, and we all have pets. This was the ultimate rear-ending by a company. Use us to sell your product to clients after treating us well for years and then decide we are costing them too much and price us out of the water. This also leaves all of our pets without extensive care because it is preexisting. Their COO dealt with our HR and was nothing short of apologetic or willing to discuss how to mediate this. Very disappointing is an understatement.

    I signed up with Figo because they offered a decent rate for a deductible, no-annual limit policy. In 2020 they "changed underwriters", and now the unlimited policy is not available (this website needs to be updated since the information above no longer reflects the available options at Figo). I found equivalent coverage elsewhere for a better price so I plan to switch.

    I understand costs rising and even the excuse of switching underwriters to get "more consistent" future pricing, but increasing rates while simultaneously reducing coverage is extremely annoying. It reminds me of how storage unit rentals work: you put stuff in storage for a certain monthly price, but once you're moved in, rates start to rise rapidly since it's difficult to move. Here, people get "stuck" with insurance companies due to pre-existing conditions; which these unethical insurance companies refuse to cover. I expect to switch now to a better, cheaper company and take my luck there since I don't trust Figo after this experience.

    In past had denial for our dogs allergy medicine due to preexisting condition. Our Vet wrote letter stating he does not officially diagnose a dog with allergies until at least one year old so preexisting denial was overturned and Figo paid claims for the allergy medicine and office visits for last 2 years. Now Figo has a new claims payor and they sent me an email stating they will no longer cover the allergy medicine and it is indeed preexisting. In addition monthly payment went up and coverage amount went down. Thinking of changing pet insurance companies.

    We got Figo for our 2 dogs early on when we adopted them, we didn't have any major issues with either of them medically until our one dog became elderly and started to show signs of medical issues.He ended up having cancer that required his AG and a liver lobe to be removed, then chemo then he was okay for a while until he had end stage kidney failure. Figo covered 100% of everything after our deductible and refunded us within days, they literally reimbursed us roughly $25,000 over 18 months for our dear pup, who we ended up having to put down this past February. Get Figo, you will never regret it!
