My cat is 10 years old, been feeding her FF all this time. Right before Thanksgiving 2018 she began to vomit after eating, it got to be several times a day and in the middle of the night. Took her the vet, actually 3 different vets and they could not find anything wrong with her. So, I took it upon myself to change her food. My baby has not been sick since. I believe people in the stores that sells FF knows it is toxic. Because I returned all of my baby's food and mentioned it started to make her sick, they say nothing. 2 stores I have returned FF and told both stores it's now making my baby sick, they say nothing.

Not I am sorry, offer another brand, they say nothing at all. I find that odd. Purina sold out to a company named Mars, I found out since then our babies are getting ill and passing away. DON'T. BUY THIS FOOD! We need to put this company out of business! I am even going to call my local TV stations to see if something can be done to get the word out. Good luck everyone, much love to all your/our fur babies.

Fancy Feast is toxic! My cats were eating it for a year without any problems until 3 weeks ago when it caused my cat to get severe pancreatitis which was ultimately fatal. It had to be euthanized today after several vet visits. My other cat is also sick from eating Fancy Feast. She has been lethargic and vomiting but will hopefully survive. The ingredients have obvious changed and now contain toxins! I see that several others have also been affected that have written reviews in this site and I’m sure countless other animals have died or become sick. I will call Purina but that won't bring my beloved cat back. It’s unacceptable and cruel these tragedies occur due to the incompetent manufacturing process and lack of product testing.

I have been dealing with tan-colored poop ever since December. Been feeding my cat FF for six months, since Dec she has been turning her nose up at it. Before Dec, FF has been a hit or miss. When I switched brands which my cat doesn't like but will eat out of hunger, her poop will be perfectly normal. I am terrified of parasites or pancreatic/liver problems now. Please do NOT give your cats FF. My cat now rejects most FF cans I give her, and I'm starting to doubt if it's really pickiness, and believing that it's unethical food production.

I had bought Fancy Feast about 2 weeks ago for my kitten because it was on sale. She is very lethargic now. I took her to the vet and they said her temperature was very high and she was dehydrated. But they are not sure why. I am now giving her medication and it is not helping her. She can barely walk now. I just put two and two together, and realized since I've been feeding her the Fancy Feast she started to get really sick. I have been feeding it to her even up until today, until I realized this might be the reason. I now think she is dying. I'm so upset with this. Is there any way that I can have the food tested to know if that is the reason?

For the past 10 of my kitties 11 years he has had no issue with Fancy Feast. 4 days ago he vomited after 20mins of him eating. He lost all enthusiasm for dinner time (you need to picture Garfield but colored like normal) After reading the other comments on this page my wife went out and bought a non Purina owned cat food and night and day difference. It has been 30 mins and he is acting like his old self. Seeing so many others had the worse case scenario, my heart aches. Our fur babies deserve the best. I hope Purina will take action with whatever it is that's affecting their customers' pets.

My extremely finicky 13 month old cat has been eating Fancy Feast for most of his life, he was very happy and healthy on it. In the last 2 weeks I noticed he would only eat half of the can but I wasn't too concerned because he was still eating his high quality dry food. A week ago he developed severe diarrhea and was a very sick kitty, I held back his food and made him bland chicken and he was feeling better but as soon as he ate a quarter can of Fancy Feast he was right back in the litter box with watery diarrhea. I returned all 41 cans I had and bought a different brand, he is so much better now.

I'm really happy that I found this before I spent thousands on vet visits. I don't know if they changed their formula or if bacteria got in the foods but I will never buy this food again. Big thanks to Walmart for taking it back and letting me get Pure Balance which he has been eating for 3 days now without issues and his coat even feels silkier than it ever has. I'm so happy he is healthy and happy again.

Am weighing in because of all the negative reviews I just read. Honestly FF is my go-to brand because I know our cats will eat it. Am mystified and appalled that so many reviewers have had such different experiences. Indoor cat favors the seafood wet and dry food, Outdoor cat favors the chicken wet and dry food. They seem to enjoy their meals, especially the Gravy Lovers wet food. At their check-ups the vets have found them happy and healthy. I don't know what to make of the bad experiences some here have reported. I feel very bad for those owners and their cats, but as long as my cats continue eating it, I'll keep buying it for them.

I never buy Fancy Feast but it was on sale at our local Walmart, so I bought 5 cans of the Gravy Lovers Chicken & Beef Feast in Grilled Chicken Flavor Gravy. My two sweet 14 year old cats were in good health. I thought this would be a great treat for them. I divided one can between the two. Cookie ate most of it because Gidget had not arrived yet. I went to call for Gidget and when I returned to where the food was Cookie was gone. We found her two days later dead in our front yard. I had no idea at that time what had happened.

The next day I brought Gidget into the house to feed her. I decided I would give her a can of Fancy Feast for a treat because we were both missing Cookie. She ate the whole can. In about 45 minutes she began to not feel well. I noticed that she was expelling gas and was uncomfortable. By 6:00 p.m. her breathing had become very labored. I had no idea how sick she really was. Every hour she became more ill. She died at 4:46 the next morning. I watched her suffer. She was so very sick. I feel horrible. I have submitted a report to the FDA, called Walmart (they promptly removed the product from their shelves) and also chatted online with the Purina company.

They said they will contact me. Nothing can bring back my sweet girls. I just hope Purina will do the right thing. I found this site by accident when I was trying to research Gidget's symptoms online. I was horrified and then realized that it was the Fancy Feast that killed my two girls. I hope and pray something is done and no one else loses their sweet kitties.

My finicky cats used to LOVE Purina Fancy Feast canned cat food but no longer, they all REFUSE to eat it. Not sure what the problem is. It's not just one type or flavor either - it's ALL OF THEM. One day I noticed a bowl of Fancy Feast Turkey cat food look RED, as if someone poured cherry Kool-Aid in it. I thought someone dropped something in the bowl and disposed of it. A second, uneaten, bowl of Turkey Fancy Feast also turned red. I won't buy this or ANY Purina product. I suspect they moved canning operations to China to save money, at the expense of safe food for cats.

We normally have our cats on a raw food diet supplemented with some tinned food for convenience. We normally do not purchase Fancy Feast but recently bought some Fancy Feast because it was on special and significantly reduced. All our cats are healthy and are shown regular in cat shows and Royal Shows and have regular vet checks. I stumbled across this page and everything became a lot clearer in hindsight. We recently moved house and had no raw food available so started serving the Fancy Feast; my older cat started throwing up but we thought she was eating too fast. The others seemed to go off their food but we thought it was the stress of a new house; the youngest (2 years) however ate the Fancy Feast. He became lethargic and went off his food. The vet put him on antibiotics but he never regained his appetite and died on day 4.

In my struggle to encourage him to eat, I unknowingly offered the gravy from Fancy Feast - which he rejected anyway. Having read the other testimonials and reconsidered recent events, I believe feeding my cat Fancy Feast contributed to his sudden change from a healthy cat to death within days of ingesting Fancy Feast. The older cat's vomiting stopped when we returned to their normal diet. It does seem strange that a healthy cat who hadn't had Fancy Feast before dies suddenly within days of eating it. We should start a class action as this is disgusting behaviour on behalf of the company.

My two indoor cats were extremely ill after eating Fancy Feast Ocean Whitefish and Tuna over a year ago. While Purina conducted testing of remaining cans from the batch, they said they found nothing amiss, though of course they could not test the food already consumed. In December I purchased more of this food as my cats will eat nothing else. There was a foul stench in my pantry for about 10 days before I opened the box and then a few days later opened a can that was putridly off. I have again alerted Purina and the supplier. The use by date was 05/2020, I note a review by C of Australia who also had off food with the same date. I will also never again buy this food, thankfully Dine have recently released a pate style food that my cats will eat.

A little over a month ago my 8 year old cat got extremely sick. She could not hold any food in, and was extremely lethargic. It was so scary. She had a pancreatic attack. I have been to the vet with her now 5 times to get treated and for follow ups. The second time at the vet, I did not even think she was coming home. In talking to others who were having the same issues as my cat, we realized they all had something in common. They were all eating the same cat food. My cat has been on antibiotics for 5 weeks now and has one more round coming up.

She is doing better because of the antibiotics, and because I switched her food. I would not recommend this cat food to anyone after what I am hearing. Several times I threw away brand new cans because they just did not seem right to me. I don't know what is happening with this brand anymore, but whatever they are doing is causing so much harm to these poor animals. I normally do not post or make complaints, but if I can save even just one cat from having to go through what my cat went through, it will be worth it. To everyone else out there with the same issue, I hope your cat will be ok.

It has been hit & miss as to which ones he will eat, when previously, the varieties I have purchased are his favorites. My cat is also vomiting, coughing, is sensitive in the stomach area & is lethargic. When I feed him fresh meat, he improves. Change back to the tin food & he gets sick. Recently my two Ragdoll cats age 5 and 3 would eat Fancy Feast Chicken grilled in gravy, occasionally the turkey. I got them from a reputable breeder who fed them Life’s Abundance and on rare occasion Fancy Feast. Her cats are champion cats. So they were healthy when I got them. Due to limited funds for the past year they were on Fancy Feast wet & dry. I noticed they both developed stomach irritation, vomiting after eating. And throwing up yellow bile, and became lethargic, did not want to play. Also one started getting sores and rashes on her neck and tail. Now they walk up to the food, sniff it, try to cover it up and walk away. I then bought a can in every flavor and style FF made thinking they were tired of chicken & turkey. Same result, they didn't want anything to do with any of them. They would rather go hungry than eat FF.

This started occurring about 6 months ago when FF no longer packaged the product in the USA and changed it to France. I started suspecting it was their food. I went ahead and bit the bullet and ordered the Life’s Abundance Dry food and tried them on Sheba chicken & turkey. They will eat the good dry food and when they tried Sheba, they scarfed it down like they had not ate in days. NO THROWING UP and they are back to playing again. Also their poo does not stink as before on FF. Fancy Feast has corn and red dye in its dry. What cat needs that? My two previous cats died after a continuous diet on dry & wet Fancy Feast. One developed pancreatic cancer, had surgery and died in recovery. The other one just stopped eating, was throwing up and had to be put to sleep, could not save her. Cost $3,000.00. Both died before they turned age 3!

Never again will I feed my cats Fancy Feast. I have spent a lot of time researching what is the best way to feed them. Although on limited funds, I will only buy the best, nutritional food for my cats. Vet bills I can no longer afford. I pay double for the food now, but their eyes are bright, and fur coats are coming in thick, glossy and they have their energy back. First photo, my 3 year old cat, lost 9 lbs just a few days before we had to put her down. The last two photos, my 2 ragdoll cats getting healthier after I took them off of Fancy Feast. They are thriving now, eyes are bright, and no throwing up.

Like so many others have noted, Fancy Feast canned cat food is changed. And not in a good way. We have a LOT of rescued cats. I stock up on, primarily, the chicken pate recipe, and purchase 4+ cases a month. So I have a stockpile. About 2 months ago, I noticed the color of the food was darker, and none of my cats would eat it. They all love this variety, so I was puzzled. So I pulled a can from the 'older' stockpile, and noticed the color difference, and they happily ate it. Next day, I gave them cans from the newer/changed stockpile, and they won't eat it.

I repeated this for weeks - they will eat the older/unchanged food, but not the newer food. I looked at the ingredients and noticed "meat by products" is the 3rd main ingredient now. There's a lot of info about meat by products, that it contains the carcasses of animals that are put to sleep and the drugs in these carcasses can make your pet sick. I don't know if that's the cause of why we're reading about so many pets getting sick after eating Fancy Feast now, but I know for sure they changed their formula and we no longer buy it.

I have a very fussy 3 and a half year old Birman cat who will only eat pâtés, mixed occasionally with Fancy Feast grilled chicken, which is the only product I purchase. Today I opened a fresh can of grilled chicken produced on 31/05/2018, use by date 05/2020. The can looked as normal as every other can. Upon opening the can I was shocked to find it completely covered black with fluffy white mold growing on top. This has deeply disturbed me as only two weeks ago he was seriously ill and needing intravenous fluids at the vet after constant vomiting and dehydration followed by diarrhea. The vet initially thought pancreatitis but blood tests showed muscle trauma from vomiting as he is an inside cat and no other cause could be established. I have taken a photo for evidence. I will no longer buy this product and am advising my mother and sister to do the same for their cats.

My kitten is about 4 months old and I started him out with Purina Naturals dry kitten food and would give him a little bit of the canned Purina wet Fancy Feast twice a day, which he absolutely loved. About 5 days ago I bought a 12 pack of the canned Fancy Feast for kittens which included the turkey and the white fish and started to give it to him regularly but by Friday night (the next day) I noticed a change in him. He's usually very playful, outgoing and friendly but now he was hiding and very tired and wouldn't eat. This progressed throughout the weekend. I was watching my kitten waste away basically. He was vomiting bile, had diarrhea and barely woke up for anything. I tried giving him some of the Fancy Feast kitten food but he wouldn't touch it at all which I found odd since he is so food oriented.

I took him to the vet this morning and he recommended that I stop giving him the Fancy Feast wet food and just stick to the dry food for now. He will still eat the Purina Naturals and, like magic, he seems to be back to his old self again. I will start to be more vigilant on reading these reviews before purchasing cat food again. Side note: I started feeding my kitten these foods because my best friend has been feeding her older kitty these foods for years. Lately she's been noticing her cat has been losing weight lately and has also found blood in her cats stool. She will be switching from Fancy Feast as well.

My two cats (both 3) have been happily eating the chicken, beef, and turkey classic Fancy Feast pates as part of their regular core diet for the past two years. It was food they loved the taste of and that I liked for having good ingredients. I have recommended it to others. But in early October one of them began having intermittent bad diarrhea and then about 4 weeks ago (late Oct.) they both developed intense diarrhea and vomiting. Went through a whole round of vet care and antibiotics and they improved on prescription food. Then we reintroduced the Fancy Feast (not from my supply but from new cans from the store) and they became violently ill again.

I would note that when we first began feeding them this, there was no "fish" listed in the ingredients. There is now. I have no idea when the change happened. We don't feed them any other food with fish in it, so perhaps this is the issue. Perhaps they have a sensitivity to fish? Or maybe the fish products are bad? For reference, the batch I had at home is a May 2020 expiration and I didn't save the can from the second round. Appears to have been made in St. Louis, not France as others have noted. But the label says "manufactured by" not "made in" and I don't know if technically those are the same thing.

There could always be another explanation, but they have had multiple stool samples with no parasites found, we have no toxic houseplants, and they are indoor cats where other conditions have not changed and they are unlikely to catch other germs. So I am sadly abandoning this otherwise trustworthy brand because I just can't risk this again. So to be clear, this was never a problem before but seems to be a problem now, though there could always be another cause we haven't identified.

In the many years since we rescued him I don't ever recall seeing him appear sick in any way. He has been known to shown preference to certain food, mainly turkey, so we, as his loyal personal butler and servants, try to accommodate. He likes Fancy Feast dry food which is always there and ready for him, and at least twice, or more, daily he likes Fancy Feast canned food, specifically Turkey and Giblets Pate. We recently bought several boxes of it from an online service because our store kept running out.

A few days ago, shortly after eating his wet food, he vomited and had diarrhea, and continued to do both for much of the day. I have never seen a cat be so sick. It is what I imagine Ebola patients like?! He did finally recover, and only ate his dry food for days. After several days we tried him on his wet food again, total repeat, 'Fluid Flowing Out Both Ends City'. He is so tough though, and recovered the next day, but he looked pretty rough, like a horrible tequila hangover after a week in Mexico. We are definitely wondering what the heck is with that batch of Fancy Feast, he used to love it, and will it happen again? We do like him, although he can be bossy, and don't want him to be sick again. Glad we read this, I think we need to find him something new.

We have been feeding most of our nine cats for years Fancy Feast, but in the last 2 weeks they have been vomiting, they eat then vomit. So far 6 out of the nine have vomited. The other three live outside so we are not sure. I’m wondering if maybe the last six boxes I purchased are contaminated. I’m taking one of the six to the vet tomorrow. Maybe they can figure it out. Is there anyone else out there who are experiencing the same reaction with their cats?? Any suggestions??

I had one cat Margaret who was about 18 die recently. I was feeding her and one other cat Winston both Fancy Feast Dried food and fancy feast canned food. Both cats started vomiting horribly and would no longer eat the dry food or the wet food so I switched to regular Purina dry cat chow and Friskies canned food. After reading these reviews I am nervous about that too. Tomorrow I am getting different brand of food. Last week I bought another pack of the Fancy Feast Seafood Classic Patte and within moments of eating some my remaining cat got violently ill. Crazy Projectile vomiting that was a strange bright beige color.

He then went and hid in closet. I went and got him and out him on blanket and kept a close eye on him. The following day he was better but still not great and had diarrhea. The second day I was going to take him to the Vet but he was fine. He is not real enthusiastic about the Friskies canned food now either. WTF. After researching this a bit and reading these reviews which all seem to illustrate the same symptoms, some resulting in the Cat's death I am both furious and nervous. The cat that died I had for 15 years and I am crushed. Is my other cat going to die now too?

Sometime in early August of 2018 my 12 yo cat Grace started to refuse to eat this product (after many years of consumer loyalty to this brand), preceded and followed by serious episodes of vomiting and diarrhea. After 3 visits and much expense at the vets, there seemed to be no answer as to the cause. No remedy or medication seemed to alleviate the severity of her failing condition. Eventually, her G/I system became increasingly compromised to the point of no water or food intake whatsoever, and, on August 27th, she was euthanized to end her suffering. She was all I had.

After 2 weeks of unbearable grief, I decided to visit the local animal shelter, and returned home with a 6 yo new friend, called Miz Gizmo. Since I already had a significant supply of this brand on hand, I began feeding her the identical diet and flavors, with no idea of what was about to happen. In a matter of days, she too was vomiting repeatedly, and emitting serious diarrhea with no letup. Continued vet visits offered no clue, just more tests and no remedies, just ongoing discomfort from the debilitating medications, and more weight loss from dehydration.

Using logic, and a bit of common sense, I decided to remove this brand/flavor from her diet, and almost immediately, she began to eat again, and to become more or less herself once more. Thinking she was out of the woods, I tested an idea that maybe it was her food. Checking and verifying the particular expiration dates (Aug 2020) and Lot number codes (L1134), I gave her another try from the same batch. In a matter of hours, all nasty symptoms (vomit/diarrhea) returned with a vengeance, and I had my answer. Further research brought me here to this site, and my findings have been verified.

Since then, I have begun a crusade to end this nightmare, including contacting Purina to let them know what I know, and what I intend to do about it. I have begun the process of informing the major online vendors of this product (Amazon and Walmart) of its potential risk, and they are now investigating, and will likely pull the product from being available on their sites while the research continues. I have informed them and many others of this website as the primary verification of this issue (along with making them aware of their own customers' negative reviews that correspond with this website and timeline).

Purina's only reaction so far has been to offer me a paltry amount of discount coupons, and the vague possibility of compensation for my vet bills ($800+), though they refuse to acknowledge that they are aware of the issue, and no recall of any kind is in the works. My plan, is to hold Purina/Nestle accountable, through their wallets, by bringing the heavy-weight retail/vendor sites into the mix to inform their respective customers of the potential and verifiable hazards, and to ultimately force a product recall. When I am finished with my crusade, they WILL own this disgraceful episode of corporate malfeasance, and do what is right. In the name of Grace, and to all who have suffered through this along with me, I will get this done. I promise.

I just found this site, and see how it has been making cats very sick! I am very angry at Purina for changing their product formula somehow that is making pets sick. What a betrayal of trust. I've read a few threads on this site about the experiences of others with FF dry foods. I had a similar experience with this food with the frequent vomiting, but my cat also developed a nasty rash around hear head and neck. The blood work from the vet showed an elevated eosinophil count, an indicator of lymphoma. The rash got worse so on a return visit she suspected an allergy, probably a food allergy. She told me corn is the number one cause of these conditions, followed closely by wheat.

I returned home and looked at the FF bad and there it was, corn! I stopped the food immediately, even though it was the main part of her diet. A month later the rash was just about gone and her blood counts were returning to normal and the marathon vomiting bouts have stopped. Please please please read the labels on your pet's food. Contacting Purina does absolutely no good as long as they are making money. Even their new "natural" dry food contains corn. The corn in this food came pretty close to killing my cat, don't let it happen to you.

I have tried every flavor there is. They began to vomit it up, now they won't eat it at all. I won't buy it anymore. This is happening with other brands of Purina canned cat food. We took out the dry food and sadly gave it to our outside cats. Today we found the same type of throw up as we were finding inside. This clearly shows that the dry food is tainted. If there is trouble with wet food then it must be an ingredient that is in both their wet and dry foods. Monday we are taking our sick boy to our vet. The closest vet to us who is open weekends and evenings is about 50 miles away and it would be too stressful for our boy. Both of our cats became violently ill last week after eating Fancy Feast. Similar to other posts below, they started vomiting and had severe, bloody diarrhea after consuming food from our latest shipment from Amazon (arrived July 28th). One cat became ill before the other. She woke us up at midnight and continued to vomit and have bloody diarrhea throughout the night; we had three trips to the emergency vet with her over the course of 24 hours. They did x-rays, imaging, blood work, urinalysis -- all came back normal. She was in a free fall decline, ultimately excreting pure blood. When the other cat became symptomatic (also with vomiting and bloody diarrhea) minutes after we got back from the third emergency room visit, and it was clear that the food was the culprit. (Our cats are indoor kitties and are not exposed to other animals).

Both cats spent a day with our primary care vet (post emergency vet) receiving fluids and antibiotic injections. They are still finishing the course of oral antibiotics that we were sent home with. Their appetites and energy have steadily grown day-by-day, hopefully providing some comfort to those of you finding these posts as you experience a similar situation, as I did. The IV/subcutaneous fluids they received at the vet were critical to their well being (they are older cats), and I'm not sure the first kitty would have survived without them... So professional medical help was critical in our case.

I appreciate the others who took time to post their experience here. It helped confirm my suspicions that there is something terribly wrong with this batch of Fancy Feast. Our experience and our cats symptoms mirror exactly that of many of the posts below. Purina needs to recall this food before it kills any more pets. I will never feed our pets a Purina product again -- especially after reading the related posts on this website under the Purina brand. If you haven't checked those out, I'd highly recommend a read before you ever purchase their products again. Absolutely terrifying.

After about 6 days of Leo throwing up, I decided to google and see if any other people were having this problem with their cat and what could be causing it. I was shocked at what I found. There were hundreds of Reviews everywhere about how Fancy Feast have changed their recipe and cats are not only throwing it up but getting very sick and almost dying. Tons of Vet bills for their cats' illnesses.

Needless to say, we won’t be using this product anymore and I’ll try to find a much safer and healthier wet food for my cats to eat. It’s so scary to find out I have been poisoning my poor cats for months and didn’t even know it. I am so thankful they are ok and we switched to Blue Buffalo brand can food and no issues at all. They love it. I reached out to Fancy Feast (Purina) via email but got no reply back. I also let Chewy.com know since I buy all my food and supplies from them. They were very concerned as well and are going to investigate it too.

Our cats have recently been refusing to eat Fancy Feast or having frequent episodes of vomiting and diarrhea multiple times a day for the past week. We couldn’t figure out the culprit, initially. We decided to investigate further and immediately began seeing very recent posts describing very similar cat problems. I can’t believe they haven’t issued a recall. We will never buy them again. They’ve lost 4 loyal customers with our cat family. Protect your catbabies. Don’t buy Fancy Feast.

I started researching if others were having problems with their cats and this food. Lo and behold I am finding others and very recently. We’ve been feeding our cats FF canned pate for years without noticeable issues. Last week my eldest (15) became very sick. Vomiting and diarrhea, lethargic, shallow breathing. My other cat vomited very soon after eating but only ate a little. She is not very fond of canned food and happy with Science Diet dry. I took her to the vets and I thought I was going to lose her on the ride. She was in stress, panting, etc. Blood work, anti nausea, force feeding, subcutaneous fluid therapy, etc. $225 later I brought home bag of fluid in case we had to continue fluid at home. All her levels are within normal for her age. And she’s been healthy and playful up until last week.

She is doing better BUT she is wary of canned food. We buy the boxes with three varieties and I threw away all the chicken. Tried the turkey, won’t touch it. The beef, finally gave in and ate a little. My vet is unaware of any recalls on the food but said it was possible this is the cause of her sudden illness. I happy to have found this website. I’m going to print these reviews and fax over to him. The food used to force feed her last week was Science Diet Urgent Care and we brought two cans home with us. She ate it and asked for more. It’s expensive of course but this is the route we are going to take to get her to eat. I hope enough people share their experiences and something is done to look into this. I’m going to write to the company. What are they doing differently? Has management changed? Is it coming from China or what?

I have been having odd health issues in the last year for my 2 cats that are now 5 years old. I’ve had them since they were 8 & 10 weeks old. I have been feeding them the Fancy Feast Medleys for the last 5 years. In the past year one cat has had odd facial breakouts out of NOWHERE, vet really didn’t have a reason except it could be feline acne. She NEVER had a problem with this before and there were no changes to her when this started. My other cat began vomiting massively after eating. I thought maybe it was hairball related but there were never hairballs in it. I added a 3rd adult cat to my pet family in January. Her stomach has had bouts of blotting and she always seems uncomfortable.

All of these cats have been heavy eaters, wiping their bowls clean. In the past month they’ve started walking away from the food, leaving it completely or eating only part of the food. And when I go to throw it out it has the most HORRIBLE smell. It smells metallic and like a wet dog. They have all become super lethargic, and I have one who has lost significant weight and I am monitoring with the Vet’s care. Just today I started to think could there be something wrong with the food, I googled and am so grateful for all the reviews I found on Consumer Affairs. PLEASE to anyone feeding their cats this food... Fancy Feast Medleys Primavera, STOP!!! There is something horribly wrong. All I can say is I had 3 happy healthy cats I hope to get back. They need to stop production immediately and figure out the source of the sickness. The company needs to be honest with purchasers. Where does this product originate? About a month ago he developed throwing up spells and a horrible sound from his chest. It sounds like the croupe on a baby when they have a cold. He didn’t want to anything. He is normally a very active cat. We’ve catified our home so he climbs and normally a very playful cat. The vet has no idea what it could be. All tests come back normal. I’ve tried switching food but he turns his nose at it.

So now all he eats is gravy and regular dry food. Today he coughed up part of the food and it had a piece of the chicken which was very rubbery. I’m not convinced this is real chicken. Back to vet to see if they suggest a different food! I’m so upset that our loving babies have to go thru all these issues due to company putting cheap whatever into their foods. I swear the ingredients are not the same!!! At 83 cents a can they should be ashamed of themselves.

God. It's RANK! This happened with approximately half the cans I opened - half smelled fine, and the girls ate. So I've been smelling the can before I feed it to them, and am throwing away the bad smelling ones. Meanwhile, I ordered Science Diet to replace it. I called Petco.com and PetSmart on their helplines to let them know about the issue.

Fancy Feast corporate apparently doesn't care - at least that is the feeling I got when I called them directly. If enough people stop buying their product, I hope they'll fix the issue, because my girls loved it until now. I was shocked to read how many people have recently had the same issue; I'm so sorry for those whose cats DID eat it, and thus became ill. My vet recommended Royal Canin, but they seem to have only pate (they won't eat that) or big morsels (ditto). Good luck to everyone, but PLEASE stop feeding them FF until they return to their original recipe/vendor. I'm certain they changed vendors to lower cost, but it has roundly backfired.

We have 2 Bengals and a Tabby and have also been giving them some Salmon Treats so I thought maybe they were just being finicky because they will do that trying to get more Salmon out of me. But all three of them have also been throwing up more than normal since eating this food from Chewy.

Well I can't find more details right now but the three boxes from Chewy.com says it is a Product of France on the bottom of the box. I had noticed a difference in the food when I opened it including the smell. The meat, especially the beef, is much bigger pieces of meat and the sauce is a very watery looking. My wife just returned from buying a case of their food from Walmart where she normally buys it and it is what we normally get that says a Product of USA on the box. Pretty sure the problem here is this odd Product of France that is obviously prepared differently. She also called Chewy and they refunded her money. They said to donate the rest of food or discard it.

I have been feeding my cat Fancy Feast since he was a kitten. He is almost a year old now. 4 cans a day. (Yes, he likes to eat lol.) He is very picky so he won't eat any of the seafood varieties. But he loves the creamy and gravy products. We've never had any issues and Fancy Feast was the only cat food he would eat. Two weeks ago, he started throwing up. At first we thought he was just sick. He is an indoor cat so he is not exposed to outside contaminants. Over the next three days, the vomiting increased. Within half an hour of eating, he threw it up. Liquid and food chunks. We thought maybe it was a bad batch of food so we threw it out and purchased more from a different store. Same thing happened. So, we bought Sheba pate. He didn't care for it (very picky) but he didn't throw it up.

So, for the last week, we have been feeding him real shredded chicken we cook. He has not thrown up since. The one time we added Fancy Feast back, he threw it up. Then we knew for sure. I contacted Fancy Feast and they admitted to changing the formula for Beef Feast in December but claimed none of the others were changed. I find this hard to believe. Then I saw all the other posts here describing the exact same issue and I knew it had to be the food. The varieties that he ate were: Beef Feast, Chicken and Cheese, Turkey and Cheese, Creamy Chicken, Most of the Gravy Lovers flavors (No seafood). I have contacted them again and I'm waiting for a response. This is completely unacceptable!!

I usually fed the pate varieties and on occasion, the gravy lovers variety. They now won't touch the pate except for a couple sniffs of the food, and then walk away. If you have changed the formula, it came at a very inopportune time as one of my cats had cancer, and the Fancy Feast Pates were the ONLY food she would eat. She suddenly refused this food, and she lost weight when every ounce was critical for her to maintain.

When the other cats turned their noses up at it as well, I knew something had to have changed. I found alternatives for the other cats, but not for my cat with cancer. She never really ate as heartily again as I would bring home dozens of different brands for her to try. You have lost the hundreds of dollars of business I used to give you as I have switched to Wellness Pate for now, which all the cats seem to enjoy. Sadly, my cat with cancer had to be put down. I know that is not your fault, but if you changed the formula during her illness, that is one thing I can't forgive you for, and I won't purchase Fancy Feast again. Sorry.

Placed the can in a food storage bag in the fridge for feeding the remainder last night. Took it out of the fridge and put it on a plastic plate, but being so cold, I spread it out a little on the plate and placed it in the microwave for 5 seconds to see how much it would warm up. In one of the chunks of the pate, there was a bright flash at about 4 seconds and a piece of aluminum or some metal vaporized with a red flash. I immediately scrapped that off the plate and since still cold, added another 5 seconds with a lot of fat popping, but no more bright flashes. Food was warm and she ate most of it, but it concerns me to find metal pieces in the food! Would not have known it except for the microwave. Verified buyer: FAncy Feast Can mfg ID: NZ0800 738 847.

I make chicken jerky, for the dog and sometimes a cat will develop a taste for that and it does not cause issue. So this mixture of vitamins and "meat" does, but perhaps it is the supplements or wheat? I really expect this to be handled, because thats why I spend the money instead of making my own cat food, even though it is cheaper it does have a time cost to me and the wife likes the cleanliness of the can system.

She turned her nose up at it and refused to eat it. After 4 hours we gave her a can of the Turkey Feast from the same box and she gobbled it right down. This morning we tried a new can Beef again with the same result. Gave her a can of Chicken Feast and she ate it right away. I looked closely at the Beef Feast and here are some observations. 1. The Beef Feast was much darker in color, much coarser in texture and has an off odor. 2. I then looked at the carton and discovered that it was labeled Product of France.

I called Purina at their toll-free number on their website. The CR I talked to was quite concerned with my issue. He confirmed that Purina was importing this product from France inferring that the demand here had outstripped their production. I had also contacted the online supplier and they overnighted me a replacement carton. This had a different lot number but again labeled as French manufacture. Our cat has no issue with the Poultry (Chicken and Turkey). Therefore I would highly recommend you contact Purina and discuss your issue. I am going to purchase a few cans tomorrow and a local pet food store to see if the Beef in the can is made here and of milder odor and much finer texture than the French made product. I think ok she's thrown up some hair balls again (there was two piles). I go to pick it up and notice it's not that tightly bond, weird looking thing that her hairballs usually are. It's mainly watery puke with pieces of food in it. I think kind of weird but pick it up.

My cat goes back for more about ten minutes later (she had only ate few bites before) she pukes again!!! Well that was two days ago and I had already decided to bring it back, well, with my busy schedule I forgot again??? So as an experiment I tried it one more time except I put about half a cup in the middle of the bowl with her other food which she's had NO trouble with last two days (9Lives that I bought somewhere else). AGAIN my cat starts throwing up!!! There is something wrong with this food! And this is a dry food the filet mignon flavor with real seafood and shrimp. I don't really mess with wet food for my dog or cat.

Several months ago my cat would throw up after eating or took a smell of the cat food and not eat it at all. Now, I'm buying Fancy Feast Medleys, Primavera Collection, 12 cans to a box. Three flavors, chicken, turkey and tuna. The White Meat Chicken is no longer WHITE MEAT. It looks like the TURKEY. I am going to stop buying Fancy Feast. It's too expensive too and I don't want my cat to get sick. What's going on with Fancy Feast?

I have been a Fancy Feast customer for over 15 years! Recently December 2016, my 10 yr old suddenly developed chin acne and severe itching and scratching. His eyes constantly running. Pawing at his eyes and mouth. The vet said he had a food allergy. I switched him to prescription science diet hypoallergenic z diet. He improved but I let my girls ages 6 and 9 remain on Fancy Feast because one has a problem drinking water and I wanted her to stay well hydrated. Now 7 months later I finally realize that the girls too have become allergic to the food. Why? Has the formula changed. I feed medley turkey. Going to now have to search for another food. This is really hard since I need a low carb no fish juice or product added. Fancy Feast was always a great product but something changes in December 2016!

Please cat owners, stop feeding your cat Fancy Feast. I have been feeding my cat this for 12 years. He wasn't eating, he vomited, he was gassing a lot and he yelped when I pet his tummy. Especially the wet food cans. I brought him in to the vet and he was diagnosed with pancreatitis. Now I feed him Blue. He is getting better with no more symptoms. I also read a lot of reviews that are the same as mine. Please don't put your beloved cat through this. I am not affiliated with Blue product in any way. But I recommend this for your cat.

I have 3 cats that have been eating Fancy Feast cat food for at least 15 years. They used to lick the dish clean, however lately they have gotten picky on the variety and within the last week have refused to eat it. One cat has gotten sick and was diagnosed with pancreatitis in April. It cost a couple of thousand dollars to get him back to normal, although he is now also diabetic. I never connected it with the food. Another cat will be going to the vet tomorrow with the same symptoms as the first. Lack of appetite, vomiting, and refusing to eat. Something either in the cat food formula or manufacturing process has changed. I spoke with a Purina rep and they are denying any change to the product. I then did research and found that other cat owners are having the same issues. I don't think this is a coincidence.

I want to share this information to all cat lovers. My three elder cats had been eating Fancy Feast canned cat food (24 in a box - classic meat or poultry) for years; gobbled it up twice a day as a supplementary 'treat' to Science Diet hairball control dry food. My first encounter with a 'bad batch' was in the August 2016 when all of the cats had bouts of nausea, vomiting and bloody diarrhea; one cat developed pancreatitis and continues treatments today. After not finding any food recalls, I tried to resume Fancy Feast March 2016 since it used to be a favorite and the cats walked away from the food after one sniff or taste; very odd behavior after years of enjoyment. The cats now eat very little, are lethargic, and appear to be losing weight. I do believe something has changed about this product, and not for the good. All cats are going through a work up now and are on prescription diets. I saw a few similar reviews from cat owners and wanted to add my story.

I have been feeding my 2 cats Fancy Feast grilled seafood cat food for over a year. They loved it until recently. Now they reluctantly eat a little of it then walk away. One cat has digestive issues. If I change brands she will have real problems. But if this continues I will be forced to change. I would like to know what has changed. I wrote this review in hopes that enough people will complain that the company will go back to the previous recipe.

EVERY list of ingredients I have ever read on a cat food label... dried food or wet food... is misleading. I don't know how they get away with it. I serve my kitties Fancy Feast (wet) because they will eat it, not because I trust the labeling.

Our family has bought Fancy Feast since 2000 back when my husband worked with packaging millions of can for a company that then shipped them back to our local Friskies Plant. From there it was shipped out to local vendors. It was always easy to find and the reliability has always been phenomenal. The ingredients used are always good quality. Our animals all love meal time. Oftentimes the dog tries to steal the cats food. In fact, it's really on a daily basis.

My cat is 16 years old and LOVES the Fancy Feast "Gravy Lovers" canned cat foods. I change out from the "Gravy Lovers" seafood flavors to the chicken, beef and turkey "Gravy Lovers" flavors and my cat enjoys them all. They are easy to find (Walmart and Target) and seem to keep her appetite stimulated. I tried the more expensive Fancy Feast Medleys, but the less expensive "Gravy Lovers" really hit the spot for the cat.

Sammie died of kidney disease at age 15 and Molly died of old age at one month shy of her 20th birthday. They loved their Fancy Feast and Meow Mix.

Our 2 cats like different flavors and consistencies. One prefers the pate and the other likes the gravy varieties. The cans are smallish, but they are fine for one meal. Average price is .55 per can, one can allowed for each cat daily. Plus the cat kibble, which is a different brand and type weekly. But they get bored and pass on the kibble completely if they get the same flavor more than a week.

Fancy Feast is one of 2 wet foods that my cats will eat. They do not like seafood or pate and will go hungry rather than eat what they do not like. I think it is a bit expensive and the non-seafood varieties have become difficult to find. I have to go to more than one store to find all types they eat.

I'm yet to find a cat food that smells inviting, but as soon as I opened the can my kitchen smelt like something had died. I bought a 6 pack of prime filet of grilled chicken, the other 5 cans were fine as far as I'm aware. They also all had the same best before date of September 2018. I'm not sure what went wrong, so I feel a little bad for leaving 2 stars for my first review.

Our 2 cats have eaten nothing but Fancy Feast Grilled and Classic cat foods their whole lives. One is 4 and the other 14. The younger one also gets some dry food on occasion. All of a sudden, starting in December 2016, neither cat will touch it. They get close, sniff it and immediately turn away. They used to dive in with gusto. We buy from Petsmart in Alabama. What has changed with this food?

He passed away two days later after eating it and my friend's cat did too but a couple weeks later both cats had same stuff going on diarrhea then they can't walk then lay there and in less than 24 hours of getting ill the cats pass away and we both bought it at the Costco in Torrance.

My 6 year old half-Persian, half-Siamese cat loves the classic salmon wet food from Fancy Feast. Since Ash is already quite old, he prefers the wet food over the dried ones. And this product is such a treat for him! :) His fur is shinier and smoother ever since I included this food in his diet. He's still very active and his fur actually sheds less even if the weather is too hot. I'm enjoying rubbing his fat belly, all thanks to Fancy Feast! Would definitely recommend this product.

We have two cats, indoors and they know what they like. Trying many brands of cat food while trying to stay abreast of what is best for them is sometimes a daunting task. Typically we try to stay away from the by-product formulas since reading studies about their possible side effects. If manufacturers would offer a trial size of their product we would most likely try it. However with today's prices, purchasing a bag of cat food only to find out they don't like it would be a waste so we just stick with the tried and true. Purina Pro Plan and Fancy Feast seem to be the favorites around our home.

I Have used several brands of cat foods. I have found that Fancy Feast is the brand that my cat will eat without leaving some in the dish. Fancy feast is meaty and very moist and in a smaller can. Just the right amount for a meal. The seafood meals have whole shrimp and crab. I use Friskies as my 2nd choice. It also is meaty and very moist. This I have to use in two meals. Would be very nice if in smaller cans. These two brands come in bite size. Grilled. Flaked and Classic. Classic is very well ground into a Pate. Which when my best friend my cat was ill. I was able to feed him with a syringe and not waste any. I recommend either of these two brands. I have used other brands but I stay with what my cat will eat and enjoys eating. Thank You.

Fancy Feast is well regarded by my cat. Small tin is just right size so if he gets a bit picky I can swap to another flavour without too much waste. He doesn't like Whiskas tinned food much after a couple of mouthfuls. He's not keen at all. Packet/Pouch cat food is successful (small & fresh).

The cats love it, and we have 4 cats. We also use Purina cat complete for dry food every day. It takes a lot of cat food to feed our 4 cats. However we also have a stray that comes by for 3 meals a day. Because of the dry food we put out we have a family of raccoons and a possum stop by to grab some of the stray's dry food that we put out.

I've known Fancy Feast for years. My grandparents fed their cat Fancy Feast, my aunt feeds her cat Fancy Feast. So when I got my cat, a tabby named Pepper back in October last year, I knew that this was a good reliable brand. Pepper doesn't seem to favor the classic feasts but adores the grilled feasts and the broths. When she hears the click of the can or the rip of the package she comes running!
