Firestone Destination and Bridgestone Ecopia tires recalled

Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations (BATO) is recalling 1,827 Firestone Destination LE3 255/60R19 tires with DOT codes 2420 through 2820, and Bridgestone Ecopia H/L 422 Plus P255/60R19 tires with DOT codes 2820 through 3120.

The tires may have been manufactured with a small pinhole in the upper sidewall of the outboard side of the tire.

Tires with a pinhole may leak air slowly, and – if undetected or ignored -- the continued loss of air may increase the risk of a vehicle crash.

What to do

BATO will notify owners, and based on the date code and press identification number of the tire, dealers will replace the tires with a comparable replacement free of charge.

The recall is expected to begin December 18, 2020.

Foreign Tire recalls Otani commercial truck tires

Foreign Tire Sales is recalling 138 Otani OH-306 425/65R-22.5 commercial truck tires with DOT code 0320.

The tread may crack due to a manufacturing defect.

Cracks in the tread can lead to tread separation and a sudden loss of air pressure, increasing the risk of a crash.

What to do

Foreign Tire will notify owners and dealers will reimburse the customer for the affected tires.

The manufacturer has not yet provided a schedule for recall notification.

Continental Tire recalls Continental and General brand tires

Continental Tire the Americas is recalling 11,728 Continental and General brand tires sold as original or replacement equipment.

The recalled tires were cured for a time beyond the specification limits.

Tires that are over-cured may develop a break in the sidewall resulting in sudden air loss or a belt edge separation which could lead to a tread/belt loss. Either condition can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Continental Tire will notify the owners who purchased the tires as replacement equipment. Various vehicle manufacturers will conduct recalls to cover the original equipment tires.

The tires will be inspected to verify that they are affected, and will be replaced -- as necessary -- free of charge.

Cooper Tire recalls CS5 Grand Touring and Mastercraft LSR Grand Touring tires

Cooper Tire & Rubber is recalling 1,983 CS5 Grand Touring 225/55R17 and Mastercraft LSR Grand Touring 225/55R17 tires with DOT codes 2920 through 3220.

The tires may have low tread gauge in the shoulder slot area which could cause tread separation and tire failure.

This may cause the tire to rapidly deflate, increasing the risk of a crash.

What to do

Cooper Tire will notify registered owners, and dealers will inspect and -- if necessary -- replace the tires free of charge.

Shaanxi Yanchang Petroleum Group Rubber is recalling 33,466 Duraturn Travia A/T tires in the following sizes:

  • LT245/75R16,
  • LT245/75R17,

Due to manufacturing issues, the tread or innerliner may separate from the tire.

Bridgestone recalls V-Steel Snow Wedge and V-Steel Highway Service tires

Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations (BATO) is recalling 203 V-Steel Snow Wedge tires, size 385/95R25, and V-Steel Highway Service tires, size 445/95R25, designed for use on mobile cranes.

The affected tires do not include the DOT symbol, tire identification number, maximum speed, maximum load and corresponding inflation pressure, and ply number/composition markings on the tire sidewall.

While the tires do contain alpha-numeric sidewall markings for both the load index and speed rating, these markings are not displayed in the required format.

If the operator unknowingly exceeds the maximum speed, load and corresponding inflation pressure specifications, there may be an increased risk of a crash.

What to do

BATO will notify owners, and dealers will replace the recalled tires with a comparable Bridgestone brand or other suitable replacement free of charge.

This recall is expected to begin August 14, 2020.

Michelin recalls CrossClimate+ tires

Michelin North America is recalling 32 CrossClimate+ tires in size 225/60R16 103V XL with DOT date code 4618.

The tires are not marked with the required UTQG treadwear, traction or temperature gradings.

In addition, on the designated outboard sidewall and on the inboard sidewall, the “DOT” certification symbol, which precedes the Tire Identification Number (TIN) has not been molded into the sidewall.

Without the proper markings, the tires may not be used in the appropriate driving conditions, increasing the risk of a crash.
