Safeway Moving cost

Safeway Moving uses a flat-rate pricing model for its moving services. The company does not publish specific pricing information on its website, but it does give cost ranges for typical long-distance moving routes.

You can request a free quote through a three-step process on the company's website or by calling for immediate assistance.

The flat-rate pricing structure means you receive a set price for your move rather than hourly rates that can fluctuate. This approach eliminates surprise costs that can occur with time-based pricing models.

    Reviewed Aug. 20, 2026

Move details: under 500 miles, Virginia to South Carolina. Quoted ~$10,000, rose to over $11,000 by pickup on 7/29 — a roughly 10% increase, which was frustrating but not our main complaint. Our main issue is the delivery timeline and communication. We were told our earliest delivery date was 8/5. It turns out that date actually just starts a 3-9 business day *scheduling* window before a real delivery date is even assigned — a different explanation than what we were originally given, which described that window as transit time rather than a pre-transit scheduling buffer. We'd specifically flagged our timeline as inflexible: my wife is 8 months pregnant, we have two young children, and we had home closings on both ends on 8/3 and 8/4.

Over three weeks post-pickup, we still have no delivery date. Repeated calls, texts, and emails to customer service all get the same response: "it's with dispatch, no updates." We're currently sleeping on air mattresses and cooking with borrowed cookware. Our account manager and the pickup crew's foreman were both professional and responsive — the breakdown is entirely in dispatch/customer service, which is a significant gap for a mover whose pricing and reputation are built on reliability. Would not recommend at this time; planning to file FMCSA and BBB complaints if unresolved at the 30-day mark and will update this review as this develops. As an additional note, I sent a detailed email on 8/19 to Customer Service requesting a delivery date with the note I was planning to share our experience to date in these forums and received no response.
