It offers both labor-only and full-service options, with transparent pricing and an easy online booking system that lets you customize services and see pricing in real time.

Bellhop stands out for its numerous offerings, including labor-only help, driver services for rental trucks or containers and dedicated trucks for long-distance moves. However, availability is limited in some areas, and service quality can vary by location. It’s better suited for standard moves than complex relocations.

Let me start by saying, Bellhop is not a professional moving company. They are an agency that hires people willing to move you. They do not have moving professionals on staff. They are the equivalent of hiring someone to hire your friends to move your stuff for pizza and beer. Let me explain…. We originally hired them because I am a disabled Veteran with severe back issues. Moving heavy things, like furniture, will lay me out for several days after the fact. So this seemed like a good idea, man were we wrong.

The morning of the move, the “driver” showed up without a truck. He’d parked it at the bottom of our driveway. He claimed he could not get the truck up the driveway, told us to reschedule with the company and left. We called the company. We were immediately told it was our fault and that it would cost several hundred additional dollars to reschedule, or $900 to cancel the service all together. That ended that conversation. Shortly after the truck and driver left, three men showed up to load the now non-existent truck. They had no information other than to show up and that they would be paid (according to them) by the homeowner (us). They said they normally get paid $100 each plus $100 for gas. I called the company to see what was up with this. Unfortunately with this company, you get an AI that will deal with you first. The AI, without actually saying it, was telling us the men were trying to extort the money out of us.

After much back and forth with the three men trying to get money from us, they eventually left. My wife immediately emailed the original agent who handled our case. In the meantime we went into town to rent, $700 later, a U-Haul truck. Either a new moving truck was going to be in our driveway tomorrow so we could use it as a shuttle, or we were going to move ourselves. Later that night we got a call from a friendlier agent that we'd dealt with earlier in the day. She understood our plight and was at least willing to try to get some people out to not only load our truck, but unload it at the other end. Because of the late time of day (this was 8pm), it might be 10am before someone showed up. Well, 10am rolled around, nobody showed. We got a call at 11am stating nobody could be there til 4pm to load. That was unsatisfactory. We at least got them to secure people to help unload, for $1000.

Much to the chagrin of my back, we began loading the truck to the brim. After getting to the other end, there were three men waiting for us to unload. They did a great job. Had the truck unloaded in 30 minutes where it took us three hours to load. While they were unloading we got to talking with them. They’d answered a Craigslist ad: $50 an hour for three hours (minimum) work. Well, since it only took them 30 minutes, the agent that hired them was only willing to pay $40. One of the guys didn’t have a digital money transfer app. The agent sent me the money so I could pay the man his $40. In short, my wife and I paid a company just over $1000 for 30 minutes of labor, and the laborers only got $120 of…

The rest of my move went like this: I kept the truck for another day. I hired one of the men, at a decent wage ($500 for two days plus lunch both days) to help me move the rest of the stuff. All in all it took two loads in my Jeep, two loads in the 15’ u-Haul truck and two loads in a 12’x8‘ enclosed u-Haul trailer. And my back is now going to cause me issues for the next few weeks.

First and foremost, Bellhop are Brokers, not movers. They must not properly vet the movers, as ours were the most unprofessional men imaginable. The damage to our household items nearest $5,000, and the insurance policy I purchased had so many exclusions that they would only settle for $460. The movers 'forgot' their tools, blankets, dolly, and mattress covers. They reeked of ** and so did their U-Haul. Please think twice if you value your belongings.

Movers were incredibly slow. Had to split my move up into two parts, I used Bellhop for one and another online moving company for the other. Other company: showed up on time, moved everything quickly, not an item out of place. Bellhop: showed up late, overcharged well beyond my estimate, damaged some items and took three times as long as the other company. Movers used many small time wasters to run the clock - started billing before the truck arrived (“let me just scan your QR code…”), many “empty trips” without carrying items back and forth into the property, spent 10-15 minutes in the truck between locations.

They damaged items in small & annoying ways. Am I going to file a claim to get $40 after you chipped & scratched the wood on my dresser? Can I make a claim for the plants that snapped in half? They even left some items on the street that they forgot about and I only discovered after they left. Above all, their customer service is absolutely horrible. Would not wish this on my enemies.

The moving service went well. The team they recruited was lovely and they were tipped well. However the Bellhop service charged us for 4 hours worth of move 48 hours. As a deposit with the understanding that they will prorate and refund if it's less than that, or charge more if it's more than that. Straight forward. They ended up only invoicing us for 3 hours which is accurate. But what they didn't do was refund the initial charge for 4 hours. So they charged us twice.

After spending a frustrating amount of time submitting emails and talking to AI bots, whenever Id get a person, they didnt understand the problem. They would say they never charged me before the move, despite the fact that they have to charge customers before assigning the truck and team. I still haven't gotten a refund and am having to work with my bank to remove their hold on the initial charge. Their inability to handle invoicing was eye opening. I wish I had looked at their reviews before choosing their service.

Unfair charges, broken items, and zero accountability. I had a deeply disappointing experience with Bellhop Movers, and I strongly caution anyone considering them. I paid for three movers, but only two showed up on time. The third mover arrived two hours late, which naturally slowed the entire move down. Despite this being entirely their fault, Bellhop still charged me for a total of six hours, double the time of what was originally estimated as a three hour move. Let’s be clear: The move took longer because Bellhop failed to provide the crew I paid for on time. Yet instead of owning their mistake, they passed the cost on to me. Their idea of “making it right”? A measly $83 credit, which doesn’t come close to covering the additional time I was unfairly billed.

To make matters worse, they broke an expensive glass table during the move. Their compensation policy paid out $0.60 per pound, which is frankly insulting and nowhere near the value of the item. This feels less like customer protection and more like a loophole to avoid real responsibility. Between the late crew, inflated charges, damaged property, and minimal compensation, this company showed a complete lack of fairness and accountability. I trusted Bellhop with my belongings and my money and regretted it. If you value transparency, professionalism, and fair treatment, look elsewhere.

Reached out the week of after emails said call to confirm, which I did and was assured everything was on track. 10pm the night before my 8am move I get email that my move has been canceled. I was shocked. I put a deposit down and was assured no issue. I called first thing in the morning. While on the phone I was charged the remaining balance for my already canceled move. $1,200 gone! I could only get through to an AI operator and was getting emails that they would call me. It was 6 days before I got my refund but I had to pay someone else an emergency fee for short notice at a lot more money. They have yet to respond. My move was not big. I had used them before and recommended them in the past. I will never recommend them again. They stole $1,200 from me and my bank got the money back.

Two months ago, we contacted Bellhop moving company to move our household goods out. We received a confirmation that they would meet us at the downtown Raleigh apartment at 9am to commence the move. On the day of the move when the clock struck 10am we tried to contact Bellhop moving company only to be treated to the most unproductive AI (automated Intelligence) voice system which stated we would receive a call back. After an annoying amount of follow up calls only to reach AI, I received a call back from a human being who stated that they had overbooked and would be at the apartment at 2pm. Although this was disturbing, within seconds of making that statement the “human being” from customer service stated that they had some last minute adds that caused our time to be pushed back.

I responded with a simple question, which was, “can you explain to me why we, as your customer that booked and confirmed 2 months ago for 9am today, am having our time moved because someone else called you the day before? And why weren’t we notified”? Her response was, that isn’t what I meant to say which gave us cause for more concern that she was not being truthful.

We arrived back at the apartment early (around 1:30pm) and had the apartment complex raise the door to the open Bay Area for the truck. At 3pm, no one at arrived, so we called Bellhop moving, only to have the AI experience again which told us a customer representative will return our call shortly since they could resolve the issue. At 4pm, we had not received a call back and no truck at arrived. I literally had to book an emergency move with another company. Also please note, bellhop now charges you in advance which was not the case before.

When I called Bellhop back and because I selected the option for cancelling, for the first time, we were immediately put through to a human being that wanted to know why we were cancelling. After explaining the lack of communication and the multiple no-shows, I asked to cancel and she said I had to be transferred in order to do so. Who did she transfer me to? AI… I called back only for her to transfer me to AI again and I called back again and demanded to stay on the phone until I reached a human to cancel and also to release the hold on my card. After demanding over and over to speak to a supervisor only to be told there is no way to do that then I got a call from someone else from Bellhop who could actually cancel the reservation. I ended up having to pay a 20% emergency fee for the new movers and they didn’t finish until almost midnight when I had intended to be done by noon.

Bellhop has left us with the impression that they have no customer service ethos. Bellhop demonstrated to us that they do not honor its reservations. Bellhop has demonstrated to us that have one of the worst communication systems and processes with its customers. After experiencing over 20 years of moves while in the military and multiple moves on our own, Bellhop is by far the worst moving company we have ever experienced.

After canceling the service at 4:00 p.m., Bellhop refused to refund my deposit, claiming that they needed to follow a process and release the $1,200 hold on our credit card. Both these transactions should have been straightforward. We used another company that arrived within the hour (5pm). Bellhop claimed that they had some last minute adds to the schedule the night before which pushed our time back, which had been reserved for 2 months! Unsat!

If I could give 0 stars I would. I booked Bellhop for an emergency move, and although the movers actually showed up on time, it went downhill from there. I hired 4 movers, only 3 showed up. They manhandled everything they touched despite me asking them multiple times to be careful. Just about everything they touched got damaged. Even containers and items inside said containers were damaged to varying degrees. I could keep going, but long story short, I have 100+ pictures of the damages that I sent to bellhop and the 'refund' they offered was downright insulting. I am still working on getting a full refund because some of the items that were damaged are antiques and the cost to repair everything is as much if not more than what I paid for the move. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY.

I have never left a negative review, because even when I’ve had a bad experience with a company, it’s never been worth the trouble to leave a review. Bellhop is the first exception, because I feel like it is my responsibility to warn anyone considering booking them. Never in my life have I been scammed out of so much money and treated with such disrespect by a company.

I booked Bellhop to help me move at 2:00 pm on Sunday, 7/13. I called ahead of the move to ensure everything was squared away on my end, and they assured me it was. I started getting worried because I was told I’d get a call before the movers were scheduled to arrive, but at 2, I hadn’t heard anything. I called repeatedly and was unable to reach anyone (wild how their sales team is SO MUCH more responsive than their support team), until at 2:51 when they texted me that they’re delaying my move to 5:00 pm. I expressed frustration as I had work early the next day and this would mess up my work week. I also knew the move would take longer because I had reserved an elevator and parking spot that would be expired by 5. When I asked to confirm that they would be here by 5 at the latest, they responded that they’re canceling my service entirely.

I’m a single woman without a car, and I needed to get out of my place by midnight, otherwise my apartment would charge me a hefty fee. When they cancelled on me over text, I tried calling and couldn’t get a hold of anyone for a while until I got a very generic call saying they’re sorry and nothing could be done. At this point, it was about 4:00 pm, and I started calling moving companies who would be able to help me on such short notice. Because of the short notice, the company I ended up going with was the absolute cheapest I could find, but they were over double the price I had locked in with Bellhop.

By the time those movers could come, it was after 9 pm and I didn’t finish moving my stuff into my new place until after midnight. I had to work a lot the next week, and spent it sleeping on a mattress on the floor and going through my boxes to find clothes. I was pissed that I was out so much money, but even more frustrated because this was the first time I’d ever booked professional movers, because I was told how it takes so much stress off your plate, but it ended up causing exponentially more stress than if I just paid a friend with a truck to come by.

Since I was out so much money for a mistake that was 100% on Bellhop, I asked them to reimburse me for the additional money I spent on emergency movers that I would not have spent if Bellhop operated as they advertise they do. I tried calling the next day to figure this out and could not get a hold of someone who could help me. On my first few calls, it went to voicemail and when I finally spoke to someone, they were reading such a generic script that I think they were AI, and they hung up on me. On Tuesday, I texted them that I really need to talk to a real human, and on Wednesday, they gave me a call reading from another generic script saying that they’ll escalate my complaint.

I JUST heard back from them on their final decision over a week after my move was scheduled, and over text in a jumbled (likely written by AI) message, they told me that my case was resolved and they’re not doing anything else to help me. Because of their mistakes, I am out A LOT of money and experienced a lot of stress, and they refused to take any accountability or any action to make the situation right.

TLDR: I booked Bellhop because it was $50 cheaper than the competition, and now I’m out more than it would have cost to move twice. If you experience ANY issue with your move, the one dependable thing about this company is that their support team will be nonresponsive, disrespectful, and waste even more of your time. Save your time and money and avoid this company.

Due to the fact that there were only two movers, they were unable to move our larger items (bedroom sets/ washer/dryer etc). They could only move "one man" items. We had to hire another moving company to move the remaining items. Therefore, we ended up paying twice for the same move. Also, the movers spent the first hour just trying to get someone on the line from Bellhop. Apparently, they hire random subcontractors. They do not actually work directly for the company. So, you have no idea who you may get. They were only willing to refund me $114 after the nonsense we experienced with them. Yes, I've contacted my credit card company. Bellhop has the audacity to keep contacting me for the balance despite their failure to adhere to their contract of providing three movers. Ridiculous. Do not do business with this company. Zero stars. This company absolutely screwed us. We used their online tool to determine number of movers + length of time for a complete loading for our 3600 SQ ft house + attic & garage, and then they set out the ticket for a studio apartment. We ended up having to get an entirely second set of movers, a second truck, and push back the close on our house. Both us and the crew called them over 20 times, and they didn't call back for 3 days. We had already booked the unloading for the move, so we proactively called in to ensure the same thing wasn't going to happen. SURPRISE! It was. We had to pay an extra $2k for the "missing" labor. They promised a call back with a credit adjustment - guess what never came?

This is a corrupt, cruel company that exploits and screws its customers. But the men working it are hardworking and reliable. Do NOT use this company for any reason, ever. Book directly with the local fellas who are also being taken advantage of. Zero stars. These jerks cost us $8k, almost made us lose our house sale, and almost made us not have enough liquid funds for our house purchase. I fully give them the middle finger.

When I asked how she said well they don't have that skill and aren't the best for the job but they can probably do it. Since I was stuck I said so then since I didn't get what I paid for I get a discount or something right? They said they would note it and see if a supervisor would call me back in a few days. They moved me last summer (third party, not Bellhop employees) and they broke my flat screen TV beyond repair and damage a steel kitchen garbage can. Their policy is to pay on the weight of the items instead of the actual cost of the items to replace them. So for the two items above, they wanted to give me $17. Bellhop Moving is a deceptive brokerage (not a direct moving company) that intentionally underquotes customers to lure them in, only to inflate charges by 350% or more after services are rendered. The kids they hire as "movers" are not professional or qualified movers, and they even admitted underquoting is standard practice for Bellhops.

The company makes no effort to be transparent about pricing. They quoted me 4 hours to move a 750 sq. ft. apartment just 3 miles, with only one large furniture item (a 3-seat couch) and total possessions that filled only half a truck. The move ended up taking nearly 11 hours, and with all charges, the cost exceeded $3,000 - an outrageous, predatory scam.

When I reported these serious issues mid-move, Bellhop lied about sending help and never followed up. Post-move, they falsified documents sent to my credit card company, falsely claiming more movers were present and that I never raised any issues or concerns, despite extensive communications proving otherwise. The Better Business Bureau (BBB) has been trying to hold them accountable for years due to an overwhelming number of similar complaints (1.2-star rating, 131+ complaints), but the State Attorney General offices have not yet taken action. This company is a scam, a bait-and-switch operation, and a consumer nightmare. If you value your time, money, and sanity, hire one of the many alternatives to Bellhop Movers.

Bellhop’s damage protection policy, which calculates reimbursement based on the weight of damaged items rather than their actual value, is not only unfair but also deeply frustrating for customers. I experienced this firsthand when my belongings were damaged, and the resolution was a mere $12—an insulting amount given the actual worth of the items. This policy fails to account for the real impact on customers, leaving them feeling undervalued and unheard. After digging further, I found that this complaint is common among others who have used the service.

On top of the inadequate damage compensation, the movers in my case were late, and two of them didn’t even bother to show up until almost 30 minutes into the move. Despite this, I was charged the full amount. It’s clear that punctuality and professionalism are not priorities for Bellhop. Unfortunately, my experience isn’t unique; similar issues with tardiness, incomplete teams, and careless handling of belongings are echoed in reviews on platforms like the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and ConsumerAffairs.

Bellhop advertises itself as a modern and efficient moving service, but my experience, along with the complaints I’ve read from others, suggests otherwise. From operational failures to an arbitrary and insulting damage policy, the company seems to have systemic issues that undermine its reliability and trustworthiness. I cannot recommend this service to anyone and would actively discourage others from using it.

We booked with Bellhop for a move. The reservation was for the 20th of December at 2 pm. I was charged in advance for the move which I had no problem with. The reservation was for 2 26 ft trucks 5 movers and 5 hours. The team was over 2 hours late and showed up high, could smell the **. They only brought 1 26 ft trucks and a small 10 ft box truck. We had every box on main floor to make as easy as possible. I said the entire contents wouldn’t fit with the trucks that they brought.

They assured me it would. They proceeded to roughly load trucks and broke and scared furniture. Only half of our items fit and when I said, "You’ll have to make a second trip," they said it would be extra and got very threatening over it. They brought the items they had loaded leaving other half at house. When unloading again were rough with stuff and only brought into garage. I had to rent a truck and finish loading the rest of our stuff myself along with hauling everything from garage to the rooms of the new house.

I am a disabled veteran that has a very bad back that struggles with lifting and carrying, which is why I hired a moving company. When I called Bellhop they informed me that they could only reimburse me 250.00 of a 2600.00 dollar move saying that was fair compensation. I explained I wanted half back because they only moved half my stuff and they rudely informed me it wasn’t going to happen and I could sue them. Which I plan to do!!! If you are thinking about using this company please be advised. They are not an actual moving company. They are brokers that hire out cheapest bid and keep the rest. I gave a 1 star rating only because you can’t give a negative one.
