Terrible company. Don't use. Had a small claim on a rental car slit tire. So far, 4 times I've got emails to submit documents. I've submitted each time everything by email and uploaded on their website. Called in, said they will have the adjustor call me back. Called me a week later and apologized, and they had all they needed. And now that they took so long the car rental company has charged my card they will pay me so I had to send that confirmation. Sent it and all the documents again both ways. Now I get a final request for documents and that the claim with clise in 2 days. So I called in again and they said an adjuster will call me. Don't waste your money.

Company would not honor a valid claim under part b, c in their policy. Wife and son ran out of seizure medication and needed to get their scripts filled. We went to the emergency room. Why buy insurance if they won't honor valid claims? Not happy and will seek arbitration if monetarily feasible.

I purchased airline tickets with Spirit Airlines (first mistake) and thought it would be wise if I bought travel insurance to protect me in case something happens. Of course, Spirit Airlines would file for bankruptcy, but I thought I was covered since the cancellation had nothing to do with me. Filed a claim with Travel Guard, and of course, they denied it. Travel Guard stated there's nothing in the fine print that protected me from Spirit Airlines going out of business. Absolutely disgusting that's not a valid reason for a claim to be paid. If you're reading this, please run. I only regret not reading all the negative 1-star reviews on this site before purchasing.

This company sells travel insurance, but in my experience, the coverage provided was extremely limited. I had to cancel a trip well in advance due to circumstances beyond my control, yet my claim was denied. After multiple attempts to obtain clarification and assistance, I received little to no response. Based on my experience, the policy did not provide the protection I expected, and I found the service disappointing. I would encourage potential customers to carefully review the coverage details before purchasing.

I paid for a “cancel for any reason” policy for a Greek cruise. The cruise line cancelled prior to the trip. Travel Guard form emails kept asking for more information, even after I sent everything there was to send. Then they denied my claim because I didn’t send what was requested. After many attempts, I was never afforded the opportunity to speak with a representative. Only phone intake people that I could barely understand. I left a message saying please call this afternoon, because I have an appointment this morning; that’s when they called and left a message… asking for more information. Multiply this by more than 30 women on our trip. Unless my appeal goes better, I’m out around $1600, plus the cost of “insurance“. Someone needs to follow up with this situation…

Absolutely awful, it should be criminal to sell this at checkout as travel insurance using the name “Travel Guard”. Very misleading. Please use Google and search Reddit for reviews of this company. I’m not sure there is anything you could claim to receive coverage after reading the exclusions. Maybe some freak accident like you physically passed away before the trip, even still, as long as your travel partner was alive, you’d still be liable for the trip. Do your due diligence; this is a scam and a money grab to pull more money off you at checkout. Do not buy.

DO NOT PURCHASE TRAVEL GUARD INSURANCE. IT'S A TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY! THEY COVER NOTHING. Purchased insurance for an International flight. My original itinerary was changed 5 times causing me to be forced to stay 2 extra days. I also had a layover changed from 2.5 hours to 9.5 hours. Travel Guard covered NOTHING!! I LOST approx $700 hundreds dollars. Travel Guard reps were terrible to deal with. Lied to me. Sent me on wild goose chase. Insisted that I get a Flight Delay report from Etihad Airways which never provided. This mistreatment of customers needs to be investigated!

Proximo pilgrimage told us that we had to purchase Travel Insurance within 48 hours of signing up for a pilgrimage. My friend and I followed instructions from Proximo. We took out the Travel Insurance with Travel Guard. Proximo cancelled our pilgrimage due to lack of passengers. The cancellation was no fault of my own. Travel Guard refused to give us a refund, even though the policy had 100% cancellation in our policy. After many e-mails and phone calls, Travel Guard still refused the refund. I was given a voucher but wasn't promised 100% coverage with this voucher for another trip, for what the voucher is worth.

This company is a complete scam! Do not waste your money they make it extremely difficult to get ANY and certainly not all of your money back for a hotel stay due to a death in the family. Expedia will no longer receive my business after decades of bookings!

This is a scam. I had to cancel my ticket because of a vehicle accident, and they said it would only be covered for death. YES! I told them what happened and I cancel 2 weeks before traveling. Never again. Waste of money.

This company is the most unreliable scam I’ve ever experienced out of the country. No answers to emails or phone calls, sent them all information. They required never answered me back, absolutely horrible company, caused nothing but stress, ended up disputing it with my credit card and one, please don’t even waste your money on this.

This is a total scam. I tried to recoup a flight fare for a trip that I couldn’t go on because I really hurt my leg. While I had photos of bruising up and down my leg, they required physician verification. It would have cost me almost as much as the flight to go to urgent care. While I was in tremendous pain, I knew nothing was broke and that I needed to ice it and stay off of it.

My wife and I were going to go on a Viking Cruise - I purchased trip insurance with Travel Guard. NEVER AGAIN! I have been trying to get my claim settled for over 6 weeks - and they continue to drag their feet and come up with additional documentation requirements. So I will likely eat the cost of the cruise = Travel Guard SUCKS! So tired of insurance companies that screw their customers - travel insurance companies are the worst SO - DO NOT USE TRAVEL GUARD - WASTE OF MONEY (AND AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE).

Had to cancel a motel reservation, months before the reservation for a supposed covered claim. So far it's been a month and the only thing we have heard is that they needed us to resend them the information. Everything that they have asked for has been sent to them twice now. Now there is a different person assigned to our claim, (which you cannot contact). The only people that answer when you call are foreign and hard to understand. Not feeling very hopeful to get our $1800 back. Appears to be another scam from a foreign country. If the only way to get a refund for a timely motel cancellation is to buy insurance, I would stay away from that company. ie.. Expedia in this case.

Waste of money! I purchased Travel Guard via Expedia for a hotel stay that literally used as an example an illness to recoup the reservation and hotel stay cost and we were denied because clause something letter something doesn't cover THIS particular circumstance. This is a SCAM and they should be investigated.

Fee scammed. Our March 2026 trip to MX was delayed by two days and flight cancelled due to blizzard conditions in Minneapolis. After an HOUR of two company reps in the Philippines READING VERBATIM inapplicable parts of our policy, including things about earthquakes, fire and hurricanes, we were told SEVERAL parts of our policy applied. Trip delay, Trip interruption, etc. Claims department determined we were owed NOTHING. I will never use Travel Guard again. My advice: Don't you either. I wish I would have read the HUNDREDS of bad reviews about this company before buying their travel insurance!

This is the least accommodating insurance service I have ever experienced. Missed flight due to TSA/Government Shutdown issue after waiting in TSA line for 5 hours. I attempted to contact insurance vendor both before and after the incident. I was forced to pay for a new flight with a new airline in person at the airport. My claim has been rejected as it was not specifically covered that a government shutdown may affect TSA lines as the workers are not getting paid, meanwhile strikes are indeed covered. "We value you as a customer" is their first line whilst explaining that this is not a "Force majeure" or a "strike" and my claim will be rejected. What a shame for trusting a company to do the right thing and insuring my own travel.

Filed a claim for our trip to Maui on March 10th to the 18th. As you know the flooding and road closures and state of emergency issued by the Governor happened. I saw the weather forecast and canceled the trip 2 days prior to leaving. Got the hotel refund and car rental from orbitz. But the airfare I had to submit to Travel Guard. Terrible process to file and no calls from them for the first 15 days. I called and left many messages and no call backs at all.

Travelers who buy travel insurance should be cautious when considering Travel Guard. Following a seven-month planning period for our Alaskan trip, a pipeline rupture at our base camp led to its closure just three days before our departure. Although this would seem like a legitimate reason for a claim, Travel Guard rejected our request, attributing the issue to maintenance. This decision is questionable given that the entire property was shut down and all reservations were canceled. In contrast, Allianz, which covered another part of our trip, processed our claim quickly and fairly. Travel Guard's handling of our claim has been disappointing, and we will not be using their services in the future.

Complete scam - they will do anything in their power to not honour your insurance and you will never get any Money back. Do not ever purchase their insurance plan.

This is a terrible company to do business with. Don't work with this untrustworthy company; they will take your money and do nothing to help you. My husband passed away, and they gave me a voucher instead of a refund, even though I am 80 years old and in need. I told them I am not planning to take any more trips.

I purchased an airline ticket on Breeze Airways for my elderly father to come visit. He became ill, so I had to reschedule it. Lost the amount of the ticket because I didn't buy an upgraded ticket or travel insurance. This time I bought the travel insurance. Right before the trip he threw his back out, and certainly could not be sitting on a plane in a confined space for hours. Because he didn't have the money to see a doctor, about a condition that will heal with time and there really is no treatment anyway, my claim was denied. So ticket money lost again. Apparently, if you do not go to the doctor, even if you are injured or ill with a contagious virus, they think you should fly anyway. This was a waste of money.

I used Travel Guard Ins for a trip to Croatia for a Ski bike race so if my sports equipment didn't make it I would be covered for lost or delayed luggage. My equipment never made it and I had added expenses for equipment rentals which I filed a claim for. Both United and Austrian air claimed it was the other's fault. At first my claim was totally denied and my second attempt they reimbursed me for the cost of the insurance instead of paying my claim. Buying this insurance was a waste of money.

Had to cancel Hotel because would of had to drive thru a Winter Storm Warning / Blizzard. Travel Guard said, "Not our problem." Denied Claim. They are a complete scam and the 1 star rating shows. Stay away and save your money. Other choices.

If you are a senior citizen and use Travelocity and Expedia stay well away from this company. They will make you age in a hurry!. For a simple flight cancellation/car rental claim, every two weeks they will ask you to provide some document. They never ask you in one shot what documents they need but they ask you in dribs and drabs with increasing the difficulty in obtaining such documents and then stretch the process for about three months. Then they say oh sorry!.. that particular flight cancellation due to airline's staff issues is not their problem.... blah blah.... and then deny your claim. Pity that companies like Travelocity and Expedia trusted by senior citizens work with such a dubious travel insurance company when good honest ones are out there.

Bought the insurance thinking I was covered. Not so much. Wish I read the reviews before purchasing from this company. Remember the name Travel Guard as I will be on what to avoid going forward. Thank you.

My experience with them has been extremely FRUSTRATING! Travel dates, Jan 25-26 of this year. We had so much snow during those days that I couldn't move my car at all. I reached out to them several times, and each time they requested additional documents. They say that whatever documents I've submitted don't prove "Inclement Weather." The only reason I purchased from them was that Expedia recommended them—clearly, no plans on their end to reimburse me.

Do not waste your money on this travel insurance. You have to die to collect. It is a scam. They drag you on for weeks and months and never pay the claim. THERE ARE MUCH BETTER INSURANCE COMPANIES FOR TRAVEL THAN TRAVEL GUARD.

Unless you lose a limb or die, you will not be covered and they will fight you. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS INSURANCE. IT IS A SCAM. I had a work requirement, I submitted all required docs and was told they will cover. I made a complaint and again submitted all required docs. They called me directly, and very rudely denied my claim with no offered recourse. Very frustrating.
