Purchase prior to flight which was canceled due to a hurricane. Submitted request after the flight was canceled due to Being unable to as I had to scramble to make other arrangements to evacuate. Travel insurance denied me because I submitted it later than my flight. Unbelievable. Worst company ever to do business with. Total money scam.

If I could rate Travel Guard with a zero, I would have. Terrible company, I was told I would receive a refund of $1012 after my wife had a stroke. This is all within the window needed in order to receive a refund prior to the cruise. After several days I tried calling and was told I could not talk with anyone concerning my refund. I had to go online and fill out a form and someone would email me. They have a decision-making group that decides if you get money back. You are not allowed to talk with anyone. After several days I was told I would receive a voucher good for two years. I sent another email explaining that my wife had a stroke and we would not be able to take trips in the future. Again I received an email telling me I would not be receiving anything. Terrible company, DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY, THEY ARE DISHONEST!

AIG agent was very uncooperative and would not listen to what I had to say. I requested to talk to a supervisor. I was then forwarded to a voicemail box. Their phone system asks if I want to answer a survey after the call, but after talking with them and them not liking what I was saying they do not give you a survey to answer.

This is the biggest scam ever insurance. They find whatever to deny coverage. I purchased flight insurance for my travel dates and my flight was changed and was under the impression that since they knew all the info on the first they would get the update on the change. Come to find out, they did not extend my insurance as requested because I sent an email after original flight date expired to make sure they have my changes only to get an email back that my request is denied because it came 2 days later while I was still on my original trip. Scammers! Will never buy from them again.

The worst service I ever hired. They refused to reimburse me for the expenses incurred. I had an accident in Brazil, was robbed, and my car was stolen. I ended up going to the hospital and had surgery. They refused to pay, even though I have all the proof: police report, medical discharge, surgery description, additional expenses, and all other required documents and receipts.

Had a horrible experience with Travel Guard. When I purchased my policy I was told that I could modify my insurance if we changed cruises. Well, I did change cruise and was told I could not modify and was not entitled to a refund. I was told the modification was not within the timeframe. When I asked to see that policy or that in writing I was told that it was a non written policy. AVOID THIS COMPANY.

I’m very irritated at AIG (automatic travel insurance through airline). The company, I used to work for, declared chap 7 bankruptcy (ie shut everything down and everyone is fired). I would think that this a good grounds for qualifying for filing a claim: losing my job (no fault of mine) per the terms for insurance reimbursement. When one files for insurance claim AIG requires a lot of leg work of the filer to submit so they can determine if your claim qualifies which I completed. After they reviewed my case, claim denied due to a lengthy list of legal reasons. Lesson learned: AIG is not worth the cost if you can’t get a claim to be repaid. I wish I could rate a 0 instead of a 1. Never again AIG!!!! Buyer beware!

Book a trip in March 2024 for November 2024 and also purchased AIG insurance. 2 months before my trip the tour company canceled the trip and refunded the money. I want a refund from AIG for $616.86 but they refused with the comment:
(b) your scheduled Departure
Unfortunately I didn’t understand the “Lawyer Speak” and thought the effective date would be Nov 10th but they consider the date I bought it, is the effective date. Also thought I was good as the trip was 2 months out. This policy doesn’t make any sense but to scam folks out of a refund because who would cancel 15 days out from buying it. Most folks would purchase insurance and if anything happens close to the trip date, then they would cancel. I also booked extra car insurance and they immediately refunded everything. STAY AWAY from AIG!

I used them for cruise insurance. Very Bad experience with AIG. Claim was first off denied. They make it very difficult to file a claim. Refiled and got approval. When check finally came, I deposited it via mobile deposit. 2 days later my bank took back money due to insufficient funds in AIG account. I called their bank and it was verified. I contacted AIG and they blamed my bank, accused me of trying to cash the check twice. I told them it was on their side but they refused to believe that even after I told them I verified it with their OWN bank.
Brad at AIG customer service was the rudest, most condescending, person I have ever dealt with on any phone call. He's the one that accused me of all the comments above. They finally issued me another check that cleared but it took weeks. Never apologized, never admitted that it was their fault. Horrible experience. Zero stars. I will never use this company again. Please don't take a chance. If a 900.00 check won't clear, they definitely have problems going on.

It was to be the dream trip of my retirement. I had put aside enough money for a trip to Switzerland and Italy, and as soon as I made the first payment on the trip, I bought a travel insurance policy from AIG. When my traveling companion became ill, we decided at the last minute that we had to cancel the trip. I immediately put in a claim with AIG. The claim process was terrible. Although I was given the names of two potential claim representatives, I could never contact either one of them. All I could do was send my communications to a generic “claimsdoc" email. I was never given any contact information, much less a phone number, and all I ever received from them was a series of computer-generated cut-and-paste emails in different fonts, vaguely referring to "enclosed" forms that were neither attached nor "enclosed." The anonymity of the process was nothing short of Kafka-esque.
Then AIG would not accept a letter from my companion's doctor. She saw several doctors, and I never found out which doctor they wanted to complete their form. In addition, our trip having been cancelled at the last minute, many of the questions on their form made no sense. But AIG insisted on having their form completed. Imagine how easy it is to get a busy doctor, having once taken the time to write a letter, to then fill another form. Eventually her surgeon did complete the form and I submitted it. The process took weeks of frustration. I did not even claim the airfare, since I had hoped at a later time to use the credit that we were given and therefore did not believe that it was "non-refundable."
In the meantime, having paid extra for “Cancel for Any Reason" coverage, I asked AIG at least to pay me the 50% Cancel for Any Reason coverage that I had purchased, since my companion was then still trying to get one of her doctors to complete AIG's form. I never got a response. Eventually, I did get an email advising me that the claim had been approved. I still don’t know whether they approved the Cancel for Any Reason coverage or the full medical coverage, because they never told me how much they were supposed to be sending me, and, again, I had no one I could contact. Then I never received a check.
I waited two months, and I finally contacted them again. Their website said that the claim was closed, but I had never received any payment. I still haven’t. Did they ever actually send the check? What was the check amount? Did they send it by the mail or by more trusted delivery service such as FedEx or UPS? Was the check lost? Stolen? Cashed by someone else? None of these questions have been answered, and I have no one whom I can contact. A check for more than $10,000 may not mean much to AIG, but for a retired couple it is a lot of money. I would never recommend a travel insurance policy from AIG.

AIG Travel Guard Insurance makes filing claims so difficult I am sure in order to have clients give up. For example, I filed a claim by filling out the entire claim form they provided only to have them come back with an additional list of requirements, some of which had been covered on the claim form. For example, I initially furnished a copy of an actual credit card receipt along with the bill marked "Paid" as required on the claim form and they came back to me requiring a copy of my bank or credit card statement as proof of payment..
For some reason, they also added the requirement that I furnish them with copies of the front and back of my regular insurance certificate for some unknown reason. That also was not requested on the original claim form. Also, they asked again for a release of medical information form (HIPAA) although that also was part of the original claim form and was signed by myself. The people that I spoke with when signing up for the insurance as well as those in the claims department with whom I communicated were very nice but in retrospect, I suspect that was a part of the ploy to appear nice while wearing clients down to the point of giving up. Unfortunately, I am giving up although I still have approximately $600 in medical bills filed or to be filed.

We booked a trip and bought insurance. 19 days later, and 16 days before our trip, my husband lost his job. We provided all required documents and we were denied as they claim they only cover job loss after 30 days from booking the trip. This is ridiculous and the only reason it is in place is greed, plain and simple. They don’t care about you or your family. I am taking them to court. Job loss is job loss and deserves a refund.

I am a real retired traveling fool. The Boss and I cruise every year sometimes twice a year. We used AIG/Travel Guard for our entire trip. That means flights/hotels/shuttles/cruise ship, the whole Kitten-Kaboottle. We used AIG/Travel Guard with our trip to Greece/Italy/Spain. Well The cruise ship had NOROVIRUS on it, which caused the ship to delay the boarding for a day. Well, One cruise day lost at a cost of 602 dollars, had to pay extra day at hotel, buy a shuttle for 8 people, and buy breakfast /lunch/dinner/liquor which was all prepaid per day for the cruise. Celebrity cruise didn't care. But AIGTavel Guard did care. They covered all those expenses. However, I saved my receipts. As I said I travel a lot. Use a Credit card and save receipts. You have to give the Insurer something to work with.

Does not cover flight delays due to the airline.... Are you serious??? I thought that was common sense, so I purchased it. To think that this is a service that is linked by google too is a shame. You'll file a claim and they'll send you their terms and conditions which is law jargon that basically translates to, "We will pay only if a tornado destroys your plane with you in it." Don't fall for this scam, this is what's wrong with America.

NIGHTMARE! To try and make a long nightmare short... AIG cancelled my mom's claim and mistook it for mine while she was out of the country, a family emergency occurred and I needed to book her a flight to return from Peru immediately but LATAM airlines would not help to cancel her original flight date until they could speak with the travel agent despite having all information for her flight (that day I learned just how much power a random travel agent could hold, this was the only one person representing this travel agency).
Back to AIG, they are on a recorded call telling me that my insurance would not be cancelled due to a credit card issue and not to worry. I asked for a reference number for the call and was told they can't issue one. Fine, next thing you know insurance was cancelled on my mom's flight (not even mine which is the one they intended to cancel due to credit card issue even though they told me not to worry it wouldn't be cancelled), next thing you know my mom is in timbuktu during a huge family emergency without any medical coverage etc.
I called AIG day after day after day. Each day I got a different answer and had to repeat the story of what happened. Each time took countless hours that I will never get back. Once I got to a supervisor who apologized and said to allow him to listen to the calls so they can see where they told me that my mom was insured and to "enjoy her trip", then he would go ahead with our refund) never heard back from him, called again each day and finally got a call back from "Senior operations manager" named Blake (my first encounter with someone who speaks fluent english), first conversation went well and he apologized.
The next thing I knew he was emailing me back essentially accusing me of fraud, despite me providing all medical documents and getting their forms filled out by the Dr). Oh and please allow 15-20 business days for them to respond by emails. Their negligence and incompetence, lack of accountability, can cause a lot of grief and money! Just RUN, RUN, RUN as fast as you can like the ginger bread man.

Trying to contact them is a waste of time, there is a number listed, but the lady answering the phone can only “notify” the adjuster that we tried to contact him/her and the adjuster is supposed to return the call… which never happened.
I really doubt that AIG Travel Insurance is a legit company, it feels more like there is someone in a foreign country pretending to run an insurance company. AIG has the claim dates wrong, the correct date should be 4/13/2024 and they insist that it is 4/11/2024; on top of that, there is no way to contact anyone besides the answering lady that can only “notify the adjuster” and the answers that we got by email are copy and paste from Chatgpt and do not give a straight answer. I don’t even think that this is legal, there are multiple complaints about AIG Travel Insurance and somehow, they are still operating.

Be ready to do your homework if you need to cancel. I had to have a drs note, have the dr fill out a form, cancel the flight and then I could start a claim. It's definitely hard work to get your money back even when you paid this company to make it less hassle. They also have several pages you have to fill out as well. So far it's taken my whole morning to just get the process started. Good luck if you have to cancel your trip.

This is my experience and my opinion. If could give this company a zero star I would. All the reviews stating this company is a scam are correct in my opinion based on my experience. I purchased trip cancellation/interruption insurance. I sustained an injury and Travel Guard (AIG) did absolutely nothing to help me, and they denied my claim after I provided all necessary information. My experience has led me to believe Travel Guard (AIG) designs their policies to fail their customers. I echo the previous posts who feel it's a scam, cash grab and an untrustworthy company. I think you should go elsewhere for travel insurance. I think this company sells cheap insurance to lure you in and then doesn't deliver in your time of need.
I went as far as sending correspondence to senior staff (Peter ** CEO and others). Not one of these people acknowledged me. A true executive to believes in their company, the value of its customers, and prides themselves with honor and morals would have done more. My opinion is they are shameful and exhibit unethical business practices. I would recommend Investors think long and hard before they tie their name to a disgraceful company with such business practices as this one.
My experience also leads me to believe, providing quality fair service is not their objective. Their profits are solely based on robbing and tricking policy holders with unclear, policy terms. I should have paid more attention to previous reviews containing "Customers be warned". I highly encourage potential buyers to understand your policy in detail before buying. A warning sign is customer service unable to interpret their own policy. I experienced first hand how incompetent the staff were as I tried to navigate my policy with them in my time of need. The staff do not provide proper assistance. I did not feel safe nor protected with Travel Guard AIG. I WILL NEVER DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY EVER AGAIN.
