I have been going through hoops for this company for a claim for my husband's passing. I have provided numerous documents, etc. They keep adding more. This has been going on for 6 months and now they want more. Do NOT trust this company!!!!

My mother had coverage through this company. She was on hospice and we used them. We paid out of pocket and sent in claims. Our claims have been processing for over a month and nothing completed. This has been escalated to everyone! They are very slow and find ANY reason not to pay out. They said that my mother would not eat and at least two ALD's needed to be performed. For someone at the end of life they stop eating. It doesn't mean the nurses didn't try. I would proceed with caution or not proceed at all with this company.

Rude reps and bad business all around. No payment information processing information for any claims. They supposedly go through Zelis but zelis shows nothing on file for this company. When questioned they were very rude and hung up the phone. Business seems like a scam.

This company takes advantage of older people and sells them “insurance coverage” that is useless for them. An agent talked my mother into getting a policy with GTL and it was nothing but a run around. I feel my mother was scammed. I was told numerous times that she did not have an account with them until I was fed up and let them know I was calling a lawyer. Miracles happen and they found the account but it was not anything my mother needed or would have wanted.

In 2004 I had a knee replaced, had to be replaced again in 2024. Dr. said top part essentially dropped out due to wear and kept me overnight. I had a policy that covered out-patient overnight. Agent had me send her the hospital record and sent me a claim form (blank) to sign and return, which I did. GTL wanted 2 years' records for first time claims. Because of 3 Covid survivals and Still's Disease that kept me hospitalized and rehabbed for 3 of 4 years--NOTHING TO DO WITH THE KNEE--they got 39 pages of records. Next thing I know they showed 4 years of records and 380 pages of records. I can believe it considering what I went through, but when the agents kept telling me they had no records until I gave them chapter & verse, they switched to "it's in claims." The agent cheerfully told me she was having the same response--but have a good weekend!
I finally sent her an email that said I'd lost my sense of humor, GET INVOLVED. She called GTL and was told I had answered a question incorrectly on the claim (that SHE filled out over my signature) and GTL canceled my policy, but was refunding the $272 I'd paid in. And have a great weekend! 5 years ago I was strapping boat tech, now I wheel over to a corner of my friend/caregiver's house and type with the one finger I have left that works. All I have left is the integrity I spent 78 years protecting, and they tried to attack that with claiming I submitted a fraudulent application? I trusted my agent. Just like I should have looked up reviews on 2 ex wives, I should have read reviews on GTL before handing over money. Gotta chop that agent trust by 95% too. The other 5% can go toward "Have a great weekend!"

My family has contacted this provider to cease calling my mother who has cognitive issue over the phone getting her to signup for polices she doesn't need. This company is a should be ashamed that they have to get customers in this way.

Cancelled my Medicare because they kept raising the premium. They charged my bank $500 dollars after speaking with them saying that they wouldn't! Spoke with customer service. One hand didn't know what the other was doing!

Long story short my mother died from cancer in which she has a 10k cancer policy with this company, and now they are trying to find EVERY loophole not to pay. Everything I sent them stated my mom died from cancer and for them that isn't enough. The pathology report, the hospital itemized bill, and even the hospices report says she died from cancer. Here is the ** part. THEY SENT THE HOSPITAL CANCER CHECK FOR 1K WITHIN A WEEK, SO YOU CLEARLY RECOGNIZE SHE HAD CANCER. DON'T DO IT.

This company is a joke. I read some of the reviews and only the good reviews are at the top. The rest are bad and along with mine. DO NOT TAKE OUT THIS INSURANCE!! I turned in a claim for a sinus surgery that I had to have because the Dr. stated that "mold" had gotten into my sinus and set up housekeeping. I kept getting letters stating that there wasn't enough information, not the right codes, they couldn't get in touch with my primary dr. and now they're wanting to know if it was a "pre-existing condition".
I called my primary's nurse and she said that NOBODY had tried to get in touch in regards to this situation. I specifically went to the hospital and got all the info that GTL needed and the woman at the hospital told me, "that's all we have and you shouldn't need anything else"! That was almost 3 months ago and still haven't seen a check. Maybe they are pissed off because I told them to expedite it. It's a scam! If you're starting Medicare, some of these companies are scammers because all they're wanting is your money and don't want to process any claims.

I found out my elderly mom had a GTL hospital indemnity plan after she was submitted to the hospital for the flu. I helped her to submit a claim by email and she received a check approximately 8 weeks later. Very pleased.

I am the advocate for my Aunt. Her policy was purchased in 2009 when she retired after 32 years of working. I contacted the company about medical reimbursement. They were very timely in sending my aunt her check for hospital and a short nursing home stay for rehabilitation. Thank you GTL for promptly sending my aunt’s check in order for us to help with hospital cost. I am 63 and will be purchasing a Medicare supplement through your company.

In Nov of 2017, I turned 65 and decided (with my family concern, my neighbor's input and a GREAT agent's help) to purchase what is called a MAPD - a Medicare Advantage plan WITH drug coverage included. My agent showed me both the HMOs and PPOs in the area and we looked up all the plans my Doctors/Specialists/Hospitals/etc take. I took a PPO plan from a big 6 (UHC [not AARP like everyone says], Aetna, Humana, the Blue Boys, Cigna, - we don't have Kaiser here) Insurance company with the Hospital Indemnity Plan from Guarantee Trust Life or GTL. The plan costs me about $45 a month and in the time I've had it (a little over a year now) I've collected $1150 dollars! I love my "Aflac for Seniors".

I very rarely leave a review anywhere, but I feel like I just have to here. All of these people with complaints must have something strange going on. I have had my Medicare Supplement insurance with GTL for several years, and I have never had any kind of problem. None. Last year I was very sick with a cancer, and my bills ran up above 220 thousand. They paid every penny! I couldn't believe I did not get a single bill. I didn't even have to call their customer service line once, which amazed me. My doctors took care of the billing for me, and they must have got paid, because I never heard a word of complaint. Really good service is so rare these days. When I took a look at this site out of curiosity, and saw the awful things some people said, I just had to speak up. THANK YOU GTL for saving my life, literally! Stay strong and don't let the crazies get you down! We Medicare customers love you.

My mother was scammed into purchasing this policy. Multiple claims were filed and the Company arbitrarily denied every claim for various reasons. The EOBs contains errors by the Company with the incorrect information and dates of service. Additionally, the policy does not have a timeframe for submitting claims, but claims were denied for being too old. The Company knows that the claims are too small that it does not make financial sense for the policyholder to engage an attorney to contest. I would not recommend this Company to anyone. I believe they exist to take advantage of senior citizens.

It's Nothing like real Insurance. These "people" had no problem taking $400+ in premiums. When I turned in one claim for $200 they refused to pay. Demanded more and more documentation. I had an attorney look and he said "You could win a suit, but for a few hundred bucks??" So the alleged "Insurance" is worthless. They apparently stay in business thru client turnover. Stuff your money in a mattress, it's safer.

I took out 3 policies on my kids 14 years ago. I was told rates would never go up and cash value would build. Today I get a letter. My oldest son's policy tripled in prices. And I was told there was no cash value built up after 14 years. For a 15 dollars a month my son could get a 200k policy. So why would I keep paying same for 12k. Lady on phone didn't care and didn't try to help. She told me that letting the policy lapse was only option other than paying Higher rate. DON'T USE THIS CROOKED COMPANY.

Avoid doing business with this shady company. Long story short...very conservative company that see nothing in minorities but money. I was talked to very rudely by management when attempting to resolve an issue with both a lost application and an issue with an incorrect policy w/ someone's else's personal info mailed to me. Terminated doing business with them altogether. Seems like their practices are outdated and there is a lack of diversity.

I had told the salesman up front that I could not purchase the insurance until after the first of the year. He pursued until we agreed to get the minimum of the policies he offered and told us about the free look guarantee. When we got the policy, I called the company and cancelled. They said it would be 3 to 5 weeks before we would get our initial payment back and to send a letter of cancellation, which I mailed that day. Three weeks later, they pulled another payment out of my account. When I called about that, they said it takes 3 to 5 weeks to process the cancellation, 3 to 5 weeks to send the first payment back, and another 3 to 5 weeks to send the second payment back. I have been forced to pay my bank $28 to ensure that they will not be allowed to continue taking my money out of my account even though I have cancelled my policy. Do not deal with this company.

I recently submitted a claim including death certificate on a policy that has been in effect since 2008. I am the policy owner and all my documents were intact. Because this death was police involved (meaning the decedent was shot by the police), they sent my claim to outside investigator to be certain that I was not involved. There is nothing in the case that would lead them to believe that, and my policy is past the time of being suspicious or red-flagged. I am frustrated because it’s going on two months, and as it’s probably common in an unexpected death, there are lots of loose ends and bills to be settled. This on top of the loss is just unnecessary stress. Thank God, my personal policy is not with this company. God forbid I die anytime soon; I would not want my daughter to have to go through this. If my claim is not serviced in the next week, I will contact an attorney.

We received a letter stating that this insurance company was terminating our major medical policy and by the letter of the law we're required to offer similar coverage. This was stated in the letter from the company. Our previous policy had a $7,500.00 deductible. Guarantee is offering a policy with a $25,000.00 deductible. In discussion with them I inquired: how is this similar to my previous policy. The answer I got is that it was all they offer. I believe this is grossly unfair and not compliant to the law.

I sent a certified letter to GTL telling them again of the cancellation and just now they sent me a response saying that "I had paid until August 15, 2010" and that they were sorry I did not want to continue. This means they are not refunding me the money and they are not acknowledging my first letter of cancellation and that I have been paying 2 companies at the same time. I want them to return my money from June 1 to date because i have another carrier and even if I didn't, I sent a cancellation letter. They have taken 2 months of automatic withdrawals from my account which I did not notice until they sent me a letter telling me that I had paid!

In Oct 31, 2000 we purchase a Jeep and took out disability insurance Acct # ZT52227. My husband had be sick in the past and we advised the sales person and he said that as long as if he should get sick again and it wasn't the illness the insurance would take into effect. Well in Januany of this year my husband did get sick again, we went to the car dealers in Woodhaven and he advised us that we had no Insurance. I knew that we took out the insurance because my concern was about his other illness. So I found the Insurance paper and sent in all the Medical forms showing that it was not the same illness and below is what the letter stated
RE: Claim # Y200940 Certificate # ZT52227 Dear Mr. Grivas: We have concluded our investigation on your claim. A review of te facts obtained will not allow us to provide benefits as caimed due to the following reasons: The premium and certificate number ZT52227 was not reported to Guarantee Trust Life Insurance Co.. A review of your lease agreeement reveals that no charges were added to your loan for crediti life or crerdit disability coverage: therfore no coverage is in force. If the premium had been charge to your loan and the funds and certificate reported to Guarantee Trust Life Ins Co. the gross charges for the premium would have been refunded. The reason for this is due to your medical ineligiblity tp purhcase the coverage. The history of heart, circulatory and brain abnormalities during the five year period asked on the applications, along with the fact your were total disable and not working on 10031--2000 voided your eligiblitiy to purchase the coverage. One my husband was not total Disable, two I have a cerificate signed. Its not the idea that we were turned down we were never notified and the dealer never turned in the insurance for us and all this time we thought we had insurance. I'm the only one right now working trying to make ends meet and I have 4 bother-in-laws that work for chryslers and we all drive chryslers. I feel that something should be done about this had I been notified I could of made other arrangements Thank You for your time
