Don't give your money to them. I spent a year paying, and now that I needed coverage for a surgery, they simply canceled it—and they didn't even cover my daughter's vaccinations from last year. I received the bill today. So, if you want to waste your time and money, go ahead and use their "coverage"—it's absolutely worthless.

Employer has Cigna and I had to use the customer service line for the first time to help get a better understanding of the language on a Denial Letter. Oh boy, the robot is inefficient. I said I was a customer, but was sent to Physicians. When I explained that to the rep she sent me back to the robot. Had to repeat customer a few times. When I spoke to the customer service rep they confirmed the letter was denied and said in no way would I be covered. The thing is, the language in the letter was saying something more along the lines of Denial because they don't do prior auth for this particular procedure. So if there is no prior auth, the customer service rep shouldn't be telling me this is in no way covered nor should the letter.

Emailed Cigna customer service asking clarifying questions about the language and they said: "WHY: service is not medically necessary. If you're going to have it your plan will not pay for it. To confirm whether _______ require prior authorization for your specific case, it is recommended to verify directly with EviCore." I called EviCore and they read through the letter and said yes I should move forward with the procedure. There is no prior auth. Cigna has made this an incredibly confusing and unhelpful situation when I'm already in a state of heightened stress about my health.

I was rushed to the ER in excruciating pain on a Saturday after an accident in which my tendons were torn in my hip. The pain was so bad I couldn’t walk, sit or sleep. I followed up with an orthopedic doctor the following Monday and was told by my doctor that I needed an MRI and it was likely the tendons connecting to my hip were torn. The doctor put the order in as urgent. I was able to get an MRI scheduled for the next day, only to later receive a call from my doctor’s office that CIGNA had denied the pre authorization. I called Cigna to find out why and was told I would have to wait 6 weeks for it to be approved!!! I CANNOT WALK. I asked for someone to explain the denial to me but their only reason was I hadn’t been in pain long enough! I hope the people working at CIGNA receive the same horrible healthcare service that they provide!!!

I re‑enrolled with Cigna in December so my coverage would start at the beginning of the year, but my plan was never set up correctly. When I realized in February that my account still showed no active insurance, I called and was told to pay over the phone. They took two months of premiums and assured me everything would be fixed and visible online within a few days.

It’s now been over a month since then. My account still shows no health insurance, I have no access to my policy details or member ID, and I cannot log in to see anything related to my coverage. Despite this, Cigna continues to bill me for March and April. I recently spent nearly two hours on the phone being transferred between customer service reps who could not understand or resolve the issue, and eventually the call went nowhere. At this point I’ve paid for health insurance that I cannot access or use, and customer service has been completely unhelpful. This has been incredibly frustrating and stressful, and I would not recommend Cigna based on this experience.

Have been with Cigna for a little over three months. In that time frame, I have had an MRI denied that was requested to evaluate the status of an ongoing chronic issue. It was requested that I try physical therapy prior to the MRI? This was for a consult and not seeking therapy. I have had multiple weeks of PT in the past. Additionally, I have had a medication denied because Cigna calls it a "specialty" medication. I take this medication for a chronic kidney condition. It was denied with no communication from Cigna. No email, no letter, nothing on their website. They force you to use their pharmacy services but do not offer support. I would look for insurance elsewhere unless you are ok with automatic denials.

If I could give a negative score, I would. Cigna is the worst health insurance provider on the planet. Even if it’s your employee coverage, do anything you can to find it w BCBS or Aetna. Anyone but Cigna. They partner with a telehealth company called MD Live. The tagline even says “MD Live by Cigna” but neither 3rd party recognizes one another & they are 100% responsible along with a horrible doctor named Traci **, MD for my dilemma. Never use her, you will regret it.

So essentially when their doctor makes a mistake & says they authorized my life-dependent blood pressure prescription but Walgreens says they don’t have it, you are required to make another telehealth appt & wait 2 weeks. It doesn’t matter if you’re out of your meds & it was their mistake. They don’t care. They “can’t” call the doctor. It’s not possible. Ha ha ha ha! I think I’ve landed on another planet. Take me back to Earth! If I die of a stroke it is 100% their fault. I have fought with Cigna, DigitalOne & MD Live for 4 days - emails, phone calls, 100’s of useless chatbot calls. I’ve instructed my family to sue all of them including the doctor when I strokeout due to their total negligence. They do not care about the patient. It’s only the bottom line & all their apps & automated crap that’s a circle of redundancy.

I was taken to the ER via ambulance due to a cardiac event. I spent four days in the hospital. Two months later I received a letter from Cigna stating that they do not contract with the ambulance company I used. It seems Cigna is stating that while experiencing a cardiac event I should have stopped to check which ambulance company contracts with Cigna. This is ridiculous! Our town only contracts with one ambulance company. Called customer service which was a waste of time as they cannot do anything. This is just another example of why Cigna has one of the lowest ratings out of insurance companies.

Cigna constantly processes my primary care visits as a specialist. I get a different story every time I call them; admitting they made a mistake and will resubmit- but then it's filed as a specialist again. Cigna has poor internal communication and lazy customer service. I have to dispute their claims every time I visit my primary care physician. Ridiculous.

My wife has severe knee pain for almost a year now. She finally went to a Doctor who gave her ** shots to try, after 4 weeks of continued pain the Doctor asked for an MRI to determine how to treat. Cigna DENIED the MRI because she had only been documented in PAIN for 4 weeks and they want you to be in PAIN for 6 weeks before they'll pay for an MRI! What kind of SADISTIC people are Cigna! This is UNACCEPTABLE! We pay $$$ Thousands to insurance and they SADISTICALLY WANT YOU IN SEVERE PAIN FOR 6 WEEKS MINIMUM! YOU'RE DISGUSTING PEOPLE!
