I got insurance from Insure One with AIG Insurance. I got in a car accident where a vehicle hit my car when I was passing the alley. The accident happened on June 2. 2008. It is already Aug 20, 2008 and my insurance has not yet payed to get my car fixed which is something they said they would do. The Insurance had to investigate on the other party that hit my car because he had no insurance and a suspended license. My insurance keeps making excuses as to why they haven't fixed my car yet. I can't go with my car damaged any longer.
There is no reason for them to take this long it is something that could have been done long ago. Also they don't seem to care that they are wasting my valuable time to nonsense such as this one. When I first called so speak to Mike he would never answer the phone and I would always be put on his voicemail. Since then, I haven't spoken to him once after. If it wasn't for the nice lady at Insure One calling me and letting me know what is going on with the claim I would never know.
The Insurance had notified the lady that by August 20th of 2008 they should have more info on when they are going to fix my car. Today the lady called me telling my mother that Mike said that they will not be fixing the car yet and that he has send a letter to the Secretary of State which is something he said he has done long ago.
The part that is hit is the front bumper. The front bumper is worse that it was before because it is breaking more and more everytime it is left with getting fixed. It has been touching the tire which is causing the tire to scratch against it messing up my tires. It is also a hazard because the part can fall at any moment causing another accident. A piece that has also fallen is the piece that keeps rain from going inside the engine so a big storm can mess up my car at any time. Also I can get a ticket for having my car the way that it is. Winter is also coming and I have to have my car in good condition for the bad weather.

Fortunately, for me, nothing happened thanks to my father, who raised the red alert flag when he heard about my AIG 6-month quote of $383, with the 'catch' being that the first two months payment must be paid by debit or credit card over the phone. When I told them I didn't have plastic and wanted to mail in my payment they said that option is not available. I called twice, the details above was the second call. On the first call I was told that to get the low rates, I was would have to pay by credit.
When I called back (me simple mind) I asked them what the difference was between the 'discounted,' credit-only rates and the usual rates (assuming they had a mail in option with a different or higher
rate). I was told by the second rep that there was no difference in the rates so their reason for credit card only payments is a mystery to me.
The quote was for $383 for six months, or $63.86 per month. The first two months equals $127.60 although I was told $132 payment would be the amount needed to start the insurance and get a policy mailed to me. It appears that a service charge is being added to bring the $127.70 up to $132 quoted charges, in order to start the policy.
Yesterday, when I asked about reasons for a credit only payment policy, I was told that I would have to speak to the rep's manager. I was transferred to the manager's voice mail who has not contacted me since. I can only surmise that AIG might be a start up company that uses only credit cards to finance their business? In any case, I don't give out social security or credit card numbers over the phone, so that raised a tiny suspicion that this might be a scam, when I first talked with them.
Another mystery is why their email states they are still 21st Century Insurance when AIG bought them out and is a separate company. Is this misleading information or simply not enough information? My father was a customer of 21st Century Insurance for 30 years, so thought something might be not quite up to snuff when I told him I couldn't mail a check to the Woodland Hills address (21st Century's old address). Also, he told me that insurance companies are under special laws which are overseen by the California Insurance Commissioner's office. He said it is possibly a discrimination practice if an insurance company does not allow some individuals access to auto insurance based on how a payment is made.
When I called back to ask the reasons why the payment method is limited to over the phone credit charges, I mentioned that the California Insurance Commissioner might see this as a discriminatory practice. This is probably the reason why I did not get a call back! If they keep up their practices, the Internet will let everyone know 'Caveat Emptor' rules buying insurance policies, including AIG. I am calling the California Insurance Commissioner today. If you are in California, you can call the Consumer Services Divison of the California Dept. of Insurance (the investigative branch of the CA Insurance Commissioner's office). The prompts will ask you to press a number for coverage or cancellation calls and another for insurance company/agent questions or suspected fraud calls.
ADDENDUM. I called the number above and found out that to date there are no special rules about how insurance payments are made or collected. AIG is the owner of 21st Century (still named as 21st Century, officially) and they own a number of insurance companies. They
are setting themselves up as a hub of insurance companies at the Woodlawn Hills address. He said they are not breaking any rules or discriminating because there are no laws about how payments are collected. Also I was told one woman who called for help told the DMV she had AIG and the DMV couldn't match her claim with AIG as the named insurance company until the commmissioner's office was called. They suspended her license in the mean time while the real name of her insurance handler was located.
Be warned that under AIG there are different companies handling different types of insurance but AIG is probably not the official name of the company handling your insurance. They do handle some claims directly but you'll have to ask them directly what company is handling the policy. Also, these companies operate on a per unit basis, e.g., you buy insurance for a 6 month period and the payment is due before you get the policy. This means that the company takes out a loan with the promise that you'll make monthly payments.
If they are going by credit card payments only, then they have their hands directly on your account and are taking less risk that you will pay/not pay back the entire policy amount. I was told that some companies add on a service charge for each payment, usually $4 dollars but it can go up to $12 dollars per monthly charge so there is a hidden fee you won't hear on the initial policy quote. Result: I have to find another auto insurance company. The insurance commissioner's web site has an insurance comparison link under 'consumers' link.

I have been with AIG Auto Insurance for 1 year. I was to renew my policy on 9/30/08 and received a non renewal notice in the mail today stating the REASON FOR NON-RENEWAL---NON-RENEWING ALL SINGLE CAR POLICIES. I am 63yrs. old and have been driving since I was 16 and have had only 2 tickets in my entire lifetime. I cannot believe that an insurance company has the right not to renew your policy because you only have one car. I have never heard of such a thing before. To me that is discrimination. What do I have to do get another car to keep my insurance?
I have to call around and try to get a new insurance policy and when I tell the new insurance companies that I am not being renewed because of only having a single car, I am told they have never heard of such a thing either. What an embarassment.

After being a loyal customer of 21st Century Insurance 14 years, the company was bought out by AIG. Immediately AIG began to change the terms and conditions of the policy. Most noticeably, they got rid of the 30 day grace period. I suspect this is in an effort for them to cancel as many 21st century customers who are paying low payments. In my case, a payment that was mailed on July 1 was not processed by AIG until July 9th The check was mailed from literally 2 miles down the road and it took them 8 days to receive it? Coincidently, my policy expired on the 8th, ONE DAY before my check was posted by AIG.
Sure enough they canceled my policy and charged me $50 cancellation feel. The next day I received an email from them encouraging me to apply for a new policy. I requested a web quote and the rate was 33% higher than my previous rate. After reading all complaints here, my experience is a blessing in disguise. I am glad I did not have to file a claim through AIG and deal with a nightmare. All 21st Century customer beware of AIG's modus operandi. If you want the low rates, ensure that you make your premium payments way ahead of time. However, you may be better off changing carriers and paying a few dollars more.

AIG obtained my credit card number from US Bank, and offered me accident insurance over the phone. I told them I was not interested. Two months later, I received info by mail, and noticed that they had begun to make monthly charges to my credit card. I called US Bank (circa June 3rd) and told them this was an unauthorized charge. US Bank took no action, but claimed that I had to work this out with AIG. When I contacted AIG, and informed them that this was an unauthorized charge, they first claimed that it was my responsibility to respond within 60 days of their solicitation to cancel the proposed policy.
I informed them that (1) I never provided them with my credit card number, (2) never gave them either written or verbal approval to charge my account, and (3) considered AIG's action to be credit card theft. Although AIG claimed at that time to have removed charges from my account, I have seen no credit to my account.
I will now send a WRITTEN demand to BOTH AIG and US Bank to cease and desist, but I feel that even if they refund the charges to my account, they have nevertheless engaged in a conspiracy to defraud US Bank credit card customers, and will continue with this practice until legal action is taken. I will take my own action. If you have other complaints you may want to add my name to a class action suit.
To date AIG has made two (2) charges to my account in the amounts of $ 24.90 If this were to continue it would amount to almost $ 300 /year.

After being insured with AIG for 7 years (3 drivers, 4 vehicles) and having no accidents or citations, I had the misfortune of sliding into a vehicle on icy roads. Our bumpers hit and there appeared to be no damage, however we did exchange information. A month later a got a call from an AIG claims agent stating that the driver had fild a claim and was asking for 1500.00 dollars in repair costs. I explained what happened and that at the time there appeared to no damage to either vehicle.
Three months later I recieved a letter from AIG informing me that I was being cancelled at the end of my policy due to this one accident. I called AIG and their customer representitive said I'm sorry. That is up to our underwriter. I asked to speak to a superviser who said the same thing. Have you ever heard of an insurance company dropping a driver for one accident in 7 years and no other issues? I think this company needs to investigated. Isn't there some watch dog organization that monitors this type of business?

I behaved like a good customer by informing AIG about accident & specifically said I don't want to open any claim with AIG as other party took responsibility of the accident. AIG's appraiser Don Hoots also agreed. But they still filed the claim, & put me into high risk category & increased premium by amount more than actual cost of repairs, which was actually paid by the 3rd party.
Economic damage is close to 1.5 times the actual cost of repairs.

I have had the unfortunate experience of having to call AIG's Roadside (I hate to use the word service) Service it's more like the lack of service, two times. The first time I called for roadside service, I was driving on a rather hot day headed for National Airport to park my car and in the process of trying to find a place to park, I had a flat tire. I was on a very busy road with no place to pull off and get out of traffic so, I thought it would be best to call for service. I waited in the hot sun for about an hour and a half. AIG kept calling me on my cell to see if the service had arrived. I kept telling them the same thing, No, they have not arrived, and why is it taking so long? They asked if I'd seen anyone drive by looking for a broken down vehicle. I told them that I had not and then asked them, what was the name on the side of the truck? They said, he's not driving a truck, he's driving a car. Hmmm, I asked them why they didn't tell me that in the first place? I would have noticed a car! Anyway, he finally located me and opened the trunk of his car and pulled out a jack and replaced my flat tire with my spare....I missed my flight.
The last experience I had was yesterday. I was on the freeway and noticed my car was running hot. Not wanting to drive any further, I exited the freeway and found the nearest gas station. Of course the gas station didn't have potable water available so, I decided to call AIG for roadside service so that I could have them tow my car to my home. I called at 3:45 P.M and was told that they couldn't get anyone to me until 6:30 P.M. and that wouldn't be a guarantee, just an estimate. I asked them why would it take so long? I'm in a very busy area where there are many tow trucking companies within minutes of where I am. They said the only tow company in my area that they are contracted with was in Woodbridge, VA. I said, that's only minutes from where I am, why would it take them so long to get here? They said, you can call them if you like to see if they can get there any sooner.
I took their number and tried calling them but after about 50 attempts to reach them because the line was busy each time, I finally gave up. The only thing I want to say about AIG's roadside service is that it's not any kind of service. I will be changing insurance companies very soon. I won't be leaving for any other reason than for the lack of their roadside service. I will gladly return to my previous insurance company even if the rates are higher. I want everything an insurance company can offer in my contract..including service.

On March 14 2008 one on their Insured opened his door as he was getting out of his car and hit the right back rear side of my car. As I approached the individual to obtain Insurance information he got back in his car and took off. I got back in my car and followed him and wrote down his license plate. Where the incident happened is where the individual works at Catering place and there is where I spoke with employees to call him to come back to take care of this matter. The following Sunday I went back to place of employment and finally obtained his insurance information.
Monday morning I called AIG and gave them a recorded accident report of the incident. I also went to their auto body repair was given an estimate and pictures were taken of the damage done to my car and faxed to AIG. The adjuster advised me as soon as they hear from their insured they will take of this matter. As of today the insured has not been cooperative and has not called to report the accident. I have been following up with the adjuster Cynthia Queseda and branch manager John Ackley and they advise me there is nothing they can do until the insured calls them as to what happened. I advised them that this person is not going to cooperate because he was very rude with me. John Ackley states that they have written letters, phone calls have been to house and as of today no response. I asked them if the insured does not call then what and his response is they need to hear from the insured.
I feel very frustrated that this matter will not be taken care and will be forgotten. Its very clear that the insured was at fault, he hit the back right rear side of my car. What happens in a situation like mine shouldnt I get paid if the insured does not make an effort to call the Insurance Co. I hope this complaint will help others in my situation. Please help and get this complaint out to the highest authority at AIG and maybe I will be heard. Thank you very much.

This has been going on since May 2006 and I just recently found out what was going on. I informed them that what they had done, but they are refusing to reimburse the money they took out without my consent. I feel like my money was fraudulently taken out and should be replaced. I tried to email them as well as call them to explain the situation and resolve the matter. If you need a copy of the email along with their reply, I will be more than happy to get that information to you.
The reason I was notified of the discrepancy was because this past month they took out a large portion at one time and as a result caused other checks that I had written to bounce. My bank is aware of the situation and is trying to work with me on paying the bank fees which have amounted to a great deal of money. This has been a stressful ordeal for me, because I trusted this company to bank draft my account for the money specified and nothing more, but they chose to go beyond my instruction and take money not meant for them. I have had this company since about 1997. I have not had any traffic tickets or accident claims since the 80's. My ex-wife and I were traveling back from San Antonio, Texas in my step sons car, after seeing him graduate from Air Force basic training. It was my turn to drive and I was driving south on I-45 in Houston, Texas. There was a multiple car accident there. Vehicles were swerving through the lanes avoiding debris and I was stuck in the middle and got rear ended by someone. After pulling over and making sure everyone was alright, I called AIG and explained what had just took place. I made sure I was still covered and called the police.

I had a policy with AIG for several years with full coverage on two cars. When I first signed up for full coverage, AIG included full glass coverage as part of comprehensive. When one of my cars became too old to have full coverage, I changed the policy to keep only liability on one of the cars and left full coverage on another, then changed the policy to have only liability on all cars. One of the reasons, beside cars getting old, is the premium kept going up, even though I did not have any accidents or tickets and my credit history is excellent. In October I traded older car for a brand new car. I called AIG and asked for full coverage on the new car exactly as I had before. When rep. asked me about new car usage, I told him that I drive it to work 750 miles a week. I received the policy and checked the price and it was as they quoted. What was missing is full glass coverage; I discovered it only when making a claim to replace the windshield.
This crooked company quietly excluded glass coverage from the policy. I called AIG and complained and another rep. told me that I had to tell specifically that I want glass coverage, otherwise they will not provide it (even with full coverage). I asked her to send me the rules stating that I have to tell them about glass coverage. She answered, that she does not have time to argue with me all day about it. I had to pay $500.00 for windshield replacement. Now, I canceled my policy with AIG and signed up with another company and got full coverage, including glass automatically. I hope I will not have problems getting my refund from AIG like other customers.

I was in a car vs. semi accident in March 2006. This Casaulty Claims Adjuster has lost paperwork, claimed to have not received medical reports and drug his feet on everything. After everything was said and done he made an offer of $1,000.00. My physical therapy is almost $4,000.00, not to mention the surgery that may be required. I believe everything this guy does as a representative of AIG is in bad faith, including pushing me to litigate to get even my basic medical needs covered.

I did a quote online. The price was actually pretty decent...about $150 less every six months, versus my other insurance company. Plus, the benefits were nicer.
I decided to call and add AIG. Upon telling them I had a speeding ticket in Nov '02, that bumped the price up. The man then asks about an accident in 2002 and 2006. I tell him the first one was due to tire tread falling off a truck I was driving behind and hitting my windshield. The second accident was due to a young lady pulling out in front of my son. According to AIG, it doesn't matter. An accident is an accident, therefore those accidents were to be counted against me. According to the man, it's Iowa's Law.
I told him my current insurance company knew about the accidents and never raised my rates. The ending result, due to my 2002 ticket, 2002 and 2006 accidents was a difference of $500 more every six months. I told them I wasn't interested and hung up.

I got a quote for AIG insurance about 4 months ago online. The rate seemed really good, so I signed up and paid for the full 6 months. A few weeks later I got the policy in the mail and a bill for about $200.00. I called and complained because I paid in full. They told me it was misquoted and that the on-line quote is an estimate, not an actual quote. I told them to cancel and they said I had to provide proof of coverage with another policy before they would cancel.
I switched back to my old insurance company and faxed them the policy and told them to cancel. I called to confirm and they told me they will be sending me a refund, but that they will have to adjust and pro rate the policy based on the 5 days and they will bill me for it.

Called AIG to get auto coverage for my daughter that is with me every other weekend. After they told me how much it would cost I told them that I better wait since $1200 was quite a bit of money and she only needed coverage until she got her car, that her dad will be insuring. Big mistake.
They now tell me that since I disclosed the info to them that I have an underage driver in my household, I can't just say I don't want the coverage. I have to pay on this till she is 18 years of age AND at that time have to provide declaration page with ins. in her own name.
What have I done! I only wanted temporary car insurance so she could go to work tonight as I have to work too. I told them to just take her off and they said they can't since it's been disclosed. I can't imagine that I do not have the option to cancel my daughter off of my policy once she has her own car with proof of other insurance?

2 months ago, I got a quote from AIG, which was $158 for 6 months. So I switched my auto insurance from 21st Century to AIG. Last week AIG informed me to pay $291, since according to their new policy, my premium has increaseed to $449. I called the customer service, they said they gave me a wrong quote by mistake at first, and now they can do nothing but correct it. Honestly, I think it's a cheat. Since I've left 21st Century for 2 months, I have to apply for it as a new customer, and I can't get the premium as low as before.

I contacted AIG about insurance for my car, I filled out an online request for a quote, the initial quote I got back was $108 a month based on the info I gave them online, then I ad to contact broker for AIG to finalise the quote and get it started. I informed her that I was in an accident that I was cited for a year previous to now, she had told me that the accident did in fact show up on the report she got back, and she proceeded to finalize the quote based on the final information from me and the reports, the monthly payments went up to $134, which was fine, because I knew it was cause of the accident.
Well after a couple of weeks of searching for cheaper insurance I chose to go with AIG based on the $134 a month premium, but when I went to start the policy, the quote they had on file for me went up to $199/month, I wondered what was going on, they searched through customer service records about my quote and could find absolutely no reason for the rates to go up, but they could do nothing about it, so it was still cheaper then my previous policy, so I went and spoke with a supervisor to get the policy started after being told there was nothing she could do to change the rates now.
So we went ahead and started the policy, got a binder from her explaining the coverage and the rates and monthly payments. Well then today, I got the final billing sheet in the mail outlining the new changes that the supervisor and I discussed, and now this billing sheet says that my monthly payments are $286, so now my payments have more then doubled from my original quote of $134 a month.

My Ford F-250, for which I had FULL coverage (500 deductible) with AIG, was stolen in the early evening of Oct. 13, 2005. I reported the theft as soon as I got a ride home that same evening. I was told to arrange for a rental car myself and that I could have AIG direct billed. I was forced to pay myself and get reimbursed later. The paperwork for reporting the claim took several business days to arrive and was incomplete. My adjuster was changed in the period between the first paperwork arriving and the other forms that I had to call to request.
I filled out all the paperwork, TO THE LETTER, including hunting up a receipt for the camper shell, pictures of the truck with the shell (luckily I had a couple!), transfer of title to AIG, etc., etc. By the time I got the proper paperwork and PROMPTLY turned it all in, 16 days had passed since the theft! The day AFTER I mailed in the paperwork, my vehicle was found. I had already signed the vehicle over to AIG, but their many delays resulted in them not having processed the paperwork before the vehicle was recovered, in sad shape, big surprise.
I called AIG again and arranged to have the damage inspected and they did so and okayed the shop I was to take it to for repair. Now 24 days had passed since the theft. The policy states a 30-day rental time limit, but I was never informed that I was running out of time. The MAJOR repairs would clear take WEEKS to be completed. The did - to the tune of 6 weeks (excessive), but AIG would have nothing to do with the repair shop. I had to do all the legwork and calling on my own. I was to be "reimbursed".
This is a fabulous strategy for AIG - they take no risk. Only their customers suffer if repairs take "too long". Upon completion, the repairs were about 150 dollars (AIG approved, according to the paperwork from the body shop) more than the original estimate (a pittance, compared with the approx. 6700 total). AIG refused to pay this difference, nor would they pay for the tow and vehicle storage for the 2 days between police recovery and my being able to recover it (recovery reported to me late on a Sat. evening), nor the relicensing/retitling/reregistration of the truck required for me to legally drive it to be examined by AIG and then repaired.
The adjuster was clearly very inexperienced and did not return my calls regularly, inform me (until I submitted my claim for reimbursement, that is) that I needed to go without a car for a month to avoid paying over a thousand to the rental car company, or respond in any way to the mountain of genuine documentation in the form of receipts that I submitted. He merely sent out the minimum check (30-day rental reimbursement) and a check for the original estimate (minus my deductible, of course) made out to the Bank with which I have my auto loan and to me.
Odd, because that only applies if it's a total loss and we're paying off the loan. I had to wait 2 hours in the bank office to have them figure out how to sign the 2-party check over to me and then over again to the repair shop. Had AIG made the check out properly to the repair shop (or heaven-forbid, deal with them DIRECTLY), none of this nonsense would have occurred.

Need I remind you that both I and the agent had been given the response that the poicly had expired. Well a week later I get new insurance cards and paper work in the mail stating that they took it upon themselves to renew my policy, along with taking out the money from my checking account ($244.00), so in retun for what they took out everything bounced in my account. and I now have $256.00 worth of overdraft charges.
They tell me that it will take 7 business days to put the 244.00 back in my account, and then another 10 business days to take care of the rest of the negative balance. I yet have been able to speak with a human that works at AIG. They have totally screwed my christmas and just having money to buy gas and pay bills. My husband was traveling to the Federal Dam Cementary to mow the grass. My husband has been a contractor for lawn care services for the past 3 years. We have been loyal AIG customers for the last 7 years. Now, AIG and its representatives will not return our calls or notify us about are insurance claim. I believe it was on June 16, 2005 when our vehicle started on fire. The 1991 Ford Explorer ignited into flames without any warning.
It appeared that the fire started around the dash of the vehicle. We had full coverage on this vehicle. AIG Insurance Representative Ben Lais or Steve the supervisor will not provide us any explanations or return phone calls about our claim. AIG and its representatives have requested numerous documents about the history of this vehicle. AIG requested any invoices on car repairs that did include a fuel pump exchange from a local garage. AIG also requested a copy of the fire department report, and police report.
As loyal customers, we provided the necessary documentation that AIG and its representatives requested. Currently, I have obtained legal counsel on this matter. We have waited over forty days for a response from AIG or its representatives. We have not heard anything from AIG or any written response from AIG. We are completely in the dark about our claim. At this point, I am considering whether or not we will cancel our AIG insurance. I never thought they would treat a loyal customer with this type of behavior. I am totally discussed with customer service and not having a vehicle.
This whole situation has given me headache as well as many sleepless nights. My husband has been very upset over the whole ordeal. I can really feel his frustration because he depended on vehicle for work and contracting.

In December my car was stolen in the middle of the night. When if was found about seven days later, AIG gave me the run around. First I was told that my car was not driveable by Mr. Paul S (estimator). When my husband and i drove 50 miles out to meet and pay the tow truck guy (because AIG does not do any direct payments or billing) the car was drivable. Yes it was dirty but driveable.
A few days later, before I had even taken the car to the shop for repair or even paid my deductable i recieved a letter stating that my premium would go up another 55 dollars for reporting a loss. How can I get an increase before there wasnt any payout what so ever. They had yet to reimburse me for the tow or the impound. Later I called to asked if i could change my due day on the policy by two days because i got a new job with different pay das. Guess what the answer was, no. If i wanted to really bad i could start a new policy and pay new start up fee. How stupid. Then i had a small banking problem a few months later. My payment was sent back.
So the next day i went to the bank and solved the problem. I was adivised that AIG would re debit my account anyways. So then a couple of weeks later i checked the account and the money was still there. so i called AIG to be told that my policy was canceled for non payment. The lady admitted that usually they send letters and a bill in the mail but they had not done so. And they had not called either. What they hey.
