During the walk-through, the contractor stated all repairs would be completed and called his boss. She came out and looked. The trusses are too short for this house and she said they would have to repair the entire upstairs. The ac leaks into the garage and several boards were loose. The co. came to look and said the joists were also too short to support the frame. Now I cannot get a call back from Maronda after calling for two years. There is also leakage downstairs at the baseboards and it has caused mildew to the boards. Please help.

Before you read the below complaints, please realize that this is a very low percentage of customers who have had issues, plus who knows if the home was maintained correctly by the homeowner. During the time frame described, Maronda built over 20,000 homes! No new home is ever perfect and will have minor issues during the first year. I'm not saying these people didn't have issues. But we are talking about less than .02% of the homes sold have had complaints and that is if you count all of these complaints and every BBB complaint over the past 5 years.

All of the wood at the bottom of my door jambs are rotted out of both sides of the side lights and are completely rotten and the jambs have severe water damage. This water damage is so extensive that it has reached to the dry wall and the base boards are also rotten. According to the contractor, it appears that the pressure-treated buck strips that are supposed to be between the door jamb and the wall per building codes are not present. All of the finger joints are showing, exposed and separating. Whenever the rain falls, my foyer area and laundry area of my Sunbury model home is flooded. This matter has been brought to Maronda's attention in the past and, on 2 occasions, a tech came out and performed minor caulking which never resolved the issue.
I would highly appreciate that someone from Maronda or, if they can direct me to the respective personnel to assist me with this matter. The major problem is when it rains hard, I receive water from the exterior walls in my computer room and my living room. i have replaced my wood flooring twice in two years. All I want is for Maronda to live up to its part of the deal. I pay for the house and they build me a good product. That's the way it's supposed to work, right?

My wife and I were looking for a house that we have dreamed about and thought we have found it. The model home was a beautiful two-story house with 3000 plus sq. ft and four bedrooms. It was a dream come true, or so we thought. We picked out all the things that we wanted in the house and made the building contract in November. Since then we have had nothing but problems. My wife wanted to change some things, several things including the lot and the house and we were told that we will be charged $250 for each change that we make.
Needless to say, we went back to the old way we had it and that made us very upset. I thought it didn't matter no matter how many changes we made, they still get the money. The worst part is that we were told we would be getting the house for $219,000 but in the contract, the price was $235,125. The lot that was picked out for us, sat there with nothing done to it and we were told the house would be finished in May. This was back during the last week of December.
We paid these idiots $1,500 already as a building deposit and I am now trying to get it back. I just got a certified letter from the company saying that they are keeping the money and could charge us up to 10% of the purchase price for breach of contract. This made me so mad. They lied to us and not only that, we didn't have a lot of money left over for Christmas for the kids. That is what pissed me off the most. So now I am out of $1,500. How can this company get away with this? They didn't put anything into this at all except a permit. WTF!! I am telling anyone right now. Do not build with Maronda Homes. They will cheat you any way they can.

I purchased a home from Maronda Homes back in 2005. I thought it was a great deal but little did I know I was about to have the world of problems. First off, I have been having problems w/ my drainfield from day one. It never worked right. Every three weeks it cost me 275 dollars to have my tank drained. I found out the drainfield is deffective and Maronda will not do anything about it. They told me to call the contractor who installed it. Called them, they told me to call Maronda. It's been a vicious circle I'm going in. The second problem is I have cracks all over the house. Maronda told me they are not going to fix them. Can someone tell me what I can do here? I'm about to lose my mind.

My daughter built a brand new home last November with Maronda and is still having issues with repairs and warranty items. Her year is about to expire in a week or two and every time she emails Maronda about a repair, I come to her house and sit for the 3 hour window that they give you. Last week a repairman came after the allotted 3 hour window time and marched in without calling to say he was going to be late, like he did nothing wrong. Today I am sitting for another 3 hr window and decided to call them after sitting an hour. I paged and called Maronda numerous times. After 2 hours Cynthia ** telephoned me and said the repairman would be here at 3pm. This is now a 6 hour wait.
I was not expecting this and needed to pick up my poodle. She was very nasty and giggled every time I asked her a question. I could not get a straight answer out of her and she avoided answering questions about the cracking garage and porch at my daughter's house. She ended up hanging up the phone in my face before telling me she did not have a supervisor. This girl was ignorant to everything I asked her about. I hate that my daughter bought a house from this company. They cheese and grin in your face trying to get you to buy from them, then they treat you like garbage after the sale. Beware!!!!

Me and my wife went to Maronda Homes looking for a house to buy. We found one we really liked. When we applied for the loan we were told by the loan officer our credit was not the best but she could get us a loan for the home. So we put down $300 earnest money as a deposit then I was going to give the rest later. As I was getting ready to give the rest, we found out they could not help us but that was after waiting over 2 months and being told different stories. I went to get my deposit back and was told 4 to 6 weeks. The sales person fill out the papers wrong so I found out 2 weeks later I needed to fax new papers which I did. At that time I was told it be 6 to 8 weeks for my refund and I was upset. It has now been a total of over 8 weeks since the first papers and when I called to get status now I'm being told it might be 12 weeks. At this point in time I would never buy or recommend a Maronda Home to anyone EVER. All I want is my refund. How hard is that???

We have an HVAC air duct that POPS as you walk across the floor in a home that is only 4 months old. We requested that be fixed. They offered to fix it free and would do everything possible to ensure that it would be fixed; however, when they came out and banged on the metal and that was it. We were told that the correct fix would be to replace the metal with thermal pan, but this was refused for a jerry rig. The sound all, but went away for a couple weeks and is back again. We have requested that they fix this since the original repair was not adequate. We were told that they only do one repair if it fixes the problem or not. The local supervisor stated that Maronda has had this problem in multiple other homes, and this is not the first time it has been complained about told us, yet they refuse to fix it.

First I was supposed to move the 2nd week of December. I got a call that the house has no power and we can't move until January. Mind you, I had already given notice to the rental dept. that I was rooming. I had to pay a months rent in order to stay in the apt., a few more weeks until the house was ready, then the nightmare really began 6 months after me and my family moved into our first home.
We had a 3 page front and back list of everything wrong in the house. And still we have major issues and can't get anything resolved, even though we have structural warranties etc. that doesn't matter. All the windows are suppose to be airtight, they aren't, the wall are supposed to be insulated, they aren't, if you push on the wall the nails pop out. The ceilings all the plaster is falling off and nails are exposed, the kitchen ceilings you can see where the lines are from the dry wall, the floor are uneven in the master bathroom and squeaks, all the floor on the second floor squeak or you can feel and hear people walking and nothing can be done. The shower wall are suppose to be insulated with hardening foam but the walls move as well as the drains, the second floor loft the half wall moves even though they say it's safe. The banister for the stairs shakes, the laundry room had a broken pipe in the wall that had to be repaired, and I had a dehumidifier in my house for 3-4 days, as well as having to have the padding replaced ,as well as uneven doors through out the house. I had outlet covers missing that my three year old would try to put thing in the holes, the screens are a joke, a snake can slither through the sides.
The A/C for the second floor doesn't work unless you drop it below 73 degrees, imagine my electric bill, the Attic is not insulated properly, the walls are scratched, and or cracking and completely uneven from the floor to the ceiling. The mirrors are tarnished and I have to replace them, don't remove a towel bar because you'll see huge holes in the wall, they patched a hole in the wall in my daughters room and it had a very nasty patch job. I think my granddaughter could've did a better job. The appliances I had nothing but trouble with the refrigerators, the frames for the freezers freeze up and the rails need to be replaced, the motors blew out the shelves are uneven that the glass won't stay in place, thew counters bottoms have gaps big enough for bugs to hide. I had trouble for months trying to get my scratched counter side replaced. The front door water use to pour in when it rained, I had to replace the door. The outside door frame is cracked and splitting, as well as the outside wall structure is cracking as well. But the best part is when I found out by the inspector that my house as well as 4 other house on the same street were built on top of snake dens. Because I questioned why we have so many snake in the area and that was the response. It had just been a nightmare. I have a large family and I don't have the funds to do all the repairs necessary, between my high mortgage and the repairs that need to be done, I can't do it. But I will tell you this much I would never never again buy another Maronda Home.

Maronda took our deposit in April 2004, promising our new home would be ready by summer. They finished in April of 2006! Yes, 2 years later, and they would not give us our deposit back to look for another home and had threatening overtones, so we waited. That was our first mistake. We had hoped that by taking so much time to build our home and community, we would have less problems, but we were wrong. On our final walk through, there were so many issues, it was laughable.
We walked through with the builder and he placed a small piece of blue tape on every issue we had (many pieces are still there as of today 10/2008). We were bullied into signing the papers for our home later that day for fear of being sued (there words) and told not to worry, because everything was under warranty and we were protected. Here's a brief list of issues as of day one: rug was placed down in pieces with the seems coming up. Nails were left in rug and every member of my family was cut more than once.
Entire first floor laminate needed to be taken up and replaced because they pieced it together with scrap material and it didn't match up, every window but 1 leaked. The front door leaked. The soffits FELL OUT over our front door and dented in our front door. The ground was not level and when it rained, it came in my sliding door. I had hot water coming out of the cold labelled faucets and vice versa. HOT water flushing in my toilets. Outlets that didn't work or blew out. Kitchen countertop peeling off.
Center island not cut even and was caulked so poorly it was uneven and unbalanced, uneven walls and they never painted or finished the walls in our master bath. And when you took a shower the steam made the walls begin to peel (was told they did not cover the dry wall...oops!) Missing every window pain that I paid extra for (did received them 18 months later), never received the 2 window screens that weren't present.
A thief stole all of my shrubbery and landscaping, so they decided to fill it in with what they called monkey grass. I was the only home on the street that had no landscaping/shrubs (they felt this was ok), a thief stole my electrical box. So we had no electricity for a week, my irrigation was hooked up wrong and only worked in 1 zone so my lawn DIED and they said it wasn't their fault and would not replace it. Now lets discuss the Executive Community.
It was suppose to be gated and have lush grounds, well, they got through a loop hole in the system and the town signed off on the community before inspecting it and they never did what was on the plan that was filed, no 6 foot walls, NO IRRIGATION SYSTEM in common areas , NO GATE, and oh ya, NO LANDSCAPING AT ALL!! The community plan that is recorded with the town states a 6 foot wall and within every 18 feet there should have been a large shade tree, a small shade tree and 16 shrubs!
We got 1 shade tree every 50 feet and they died with no irrigation! The streets flood because of improper drainage and when the builders owned the HOA, it went bankrupt. So we had bills in the thousands when they turned it over to us (which we had to take or face the fact that the city would shut off our lights which was in violation and we could be sued), as well as many businesses wouldn't deal with us because the builder had defaulted on their contracts with them.
We signed HOA contracts stating that there would be NO RENTALS all owner occupied, that was a joke. There were more rental properties than owners and with the economy the way it has been, you can only imagine who those homes were rented to. We were told by Maronda to go ahead and sue, it won't do any good. What a fabulous company. I say that if you buy a Maronda home after reading all the problems that the other homeowners have mentioned, you deserve what you get and believe me, Karma will take care of Maronda and all of those sad little people that work for them.

Bought our Maronda home in 6/2008 and have had nothing but headaches ever since!! To this Kelly person who claims Maronda Homes is so wonderful and she too lives in one and has never had any problems! Obviously she's the only one! Look around.... google Maronda homes and look at the 3.2 million dollar lawsuit that has been won against this builder. They do slap these houses together and they leak (amazingly all in the same places!). We spent over $8000 in solid wood floors and it didn't even take a tropical storm to make our front door leak, or the sides of the house. What's truly amazing is how we've hired 2 different and EXPENSIVE contractors to come out here and try to find the leak! COULDN'T BE DONE!!!
This is not our first home and this is absolutely the worst craftsmanship I have ever seen in my life. We have done more than REGULAR MAINTENANCE and nothing has helped! I have spent more than $80,000 in upgrades and repairs since we've moved in here and now with the housing market as crappy as it is..... I'm screwed! I was told by Maronda that they warranty the materials, not the craftsmanship! What in the heck is that?!?!? They don't care.... they've gotten their money. Getting in touch with them is like trying to call the President directly!!! GOOD LUCK!!!! THIS BUILDER SHOULD BE THROWN UNDER THE JAIL!!!!

My wife and I purchased a Maronda Home in June 2005. Until tropical storm Fay,? we did not realize that the front windows on our Austin model home were defective. We contacted Maronda Homes (Orlando), and within two weeks, a contract inspector visited our home. He told us that the windows were significantly defective… and while he could caulk the windows, it would be like putting a band-aid on a sucking chest wound.
I subsequently contacted Maronda Homes (Orlando) again the following Monday they only allow email contacts and that was two weeks ago. No surprises here, we have not heard anything from Maronda. Honestly, these people are the WORST and I would not recommend this company to anyone. Well, maybe someone I hate. We had to have the carpets in the front rooms adjacent to these faulty windows steam-cleaned. But until the company replaces these windows we won’t know how much many more problems will result from such poor workmanship.

approximately 3 weeks before Hurricane Jeanne rained in Central Florida for several days straight. The effect of the rain on our house should have been the first indication that we were dealing with deficient construction. The water seeped through our stucco and into our family room, soaking the walls and carpet. The damage was minimal and was able to be contained w/ fans, replacement of the carpet padding and special treatment to our walls to control mold.
Forward four years later to Tropical Storm Faye. The flooring on our entire first floor was upgraded 1 month previously to wood laminate. TS Faye caused rain in Floriday for 3 days straight. Once again, the constant rain from the storm soaked through the stucco and into the house, ruining one half of our laminate floors on the first floor. In addition the front door was rotted and leaking, and 4 feet of our drywall needed to be replaced along the perimeter of our foyer and dining room. Drywall was molded as a result of the moisture.
The damage from both storms as well as the cost of sealing/painting our house totaled over $10k. What was surprising to me was to see the myriad of neighbors in my community who in the weeks following the storm had placed damaged floor boards, wood flooring, and carpet remnants along their curbs to be picked up with the garbage. While Im willing to concede that one case of water damage may be a fluke, the similarity and prevalence of these occurrences is alarming.

My front door leaks and the wood frame has had to be repaired since we moved in. The neighbors all have the same issue with their front doors. We were told by the field rep for maronda that the reason Maronda can sell cheap is the fixtures they use (doors, windows, light fixtures) are cheap and put in to pass inspection but you should replace them all! Nice to know..It would seem that Maronda would want to take more pride in their end product and put a little more in to their building product.

I had been eyeing Maronda homes for about 2 yrs before I bought one. I had researched online and read numerous complaints about the construction. I just figured there were a lot of whiners out there who had nothing better to do than complain.
We bought our house 08/2007, it was a resale that had been built 06/2006. The home was very basic and that is what I expected for the money, basically a box we could personalize and customize ourselves. All I noticed was 1 crack in the ceiling of an upstairs bedroom. No big deal just minor cosmetic imperfections.
Tropical storm Fay dropped 2 days worth of rain all over the state. About a week after the storm while in the dining room I felt the floor buckle. We had upgraded to laminate in March 2008. Upon further inspection I discovered that 1/4th of the floor and some of the drywall was wet. All I found on the exterior was a small hairline crack. That crack was not on the wall with the most dry wall damage. We've since replaced the damage.
I am not looking for a hand out or a free ride on the down with Maronda train. I want the company to take accountability for shoty workmanship. I am an insurance agent and NOT ONE SINGLE CLIENT OF MINE HAS CALLED WITH A WATER DAMAGE PROBLEM LIKE THIS!!! In fact I only had ONE client with water damage and it was a leak in the roof. My parents have lived in the same home two miles from me for 15 years and they had NO DAMAGE.
I have read the wonderul educated responses from the people who believe that homes are not water proof and they are all built the same way. Last time I checked I did not purchase a house made of straw and yes I do believe my home should be water proof. This is the 3rd home I have owned and never had a water problem before. I talked my husband into buying this home and this is what happened.
Floor damage, wall damage, possible loss of resale value.

I purchased my maronda home in June of 2005. It is located in Deltona. I am the second owner. House was built in 2003. I noticed a few hairline cracks after buying but didn't think anything of it. Now after T.S F came through I had a contractor go over the house since there was water damage in a bathroom and bedroom. maronda said it just needs to be sealed and painted. They are not responsible for the cracking or water damage.
There are numerous cracks in the stucco. You can see the outline of every block in some places. The contractor said the stucco was not applied thick enough by the builder. We also noticed a large crack through the garage and continueing into the house. A large crack in the corner of the garage on the ceiling and the block in that area has disjointed from the one below it shifting the house. Contractor stated this was due to poor foundation preperation. roof truss looks warped. sags downward between trusses. House is not level anymore.
I had sunshine state insurance come out and they settled for $1,441.00. I have to replace carpet and vinyl floor in bedroom and bathroom. cut out walls and base board and replace due to mold. Have entire house preped, sealed and painted and gutters put in on the sides of house. All this is going to cost me about $3600. I bought my Maronda home in 2004 brand new. The roof leaked during hurricane Charley and Frances. Maronda did nothing only told me that its because of the winds. During Faye my front door leaked and water came up from beneath the floors in my dining room. My wood laminate floors are now ruined. I called them and they did NOTHING.
I am sorry but a house barely 4 years old should not be leaking from the foundation or from the walls. I owned a house built in the 1970's previously and NEVER had a problem with leaking. The only thing I ever replaced on that house was the roof. Water never came in through the walls. Maronda has slapped these houses together and reaped huge profits while all the while claiming easily observable better value. That's a load of you know what.
How can it be a better value when everything starts falling apart as soon as you close. I have cracked tiles all over my house and the tile people say its because of the foundation beneath. Why the state of Florida allows them to get away with this is beyond me.

Why is it that in 2004, when hurricane frances and the others hit the same area of Florida the media demolished new home builders such as Lennar, and Ryland? This year it's Maronda Homes.
Although it is not what people want to hear, homeowner maintenance is crucial, and just as anything else you own gets damaged over time, you repair it, right? Then why not do the necessary routine maintenance on your home as well?
I have worked for High-end Top National builders as well as Maronda Homes in my 10 yrs of real estate sales and I have news for you people pointing the finger at your new home builder, EACH BUILDS TO THE SAME STANDARDS, LOCAL/COUNTY BUILDING CODES, AND USES THE SAME MATERIALS!
It appears everytime we have heavy rain caused from tropical storms/hurricanes the media takes a few coplaints and runs with it, but we need to keep in mind we live in Florida and with humidity and rain it's a good chance your home may end up with mold unless you, as the homeowner, take the necessary steps to maintain YOUR HOME.
Yes, I live in a Maronda Home as well and have nothing bad to say about their quality of construction or customer service. The entire homeowner maintence manuel was explained to me as well as their waranty, it does not warrant for mold, not one builder in Florida will! If there are any latent defects due to workmanship, Maronda will come out and fix it. What they will not do is be held accountable for lack of homeowner maintenance. Especially when you put in your own floors! Come on now, use your brain, why would someone come out and fix something that they did not install?
One must prove beyond a shadow of a doubt, that it is, in fact, a latent defect caused by construction. Anyone that knows anything about construction should very well know that new homes settle within the first 6-12 months. This will usually result in hair line cracks in concrete, cracked tiles, and cracks in stucco. Homes are in NO way waterproof and we should all treat them as such. If you see a crack, seal it.
Buying a home is a huge investment, why would you not maintain your investment?
I would absolutely refer Maronda Homes to my friends and family, I have a beautiful brand new home with zero issues. I am confident in the company enough to say if an issue does arise, it will be repaired. Maronda is one of the few Builders that back up their product.

We purchased a new Maronda home in Nov 2005, after dealing with many problems during the building process. We hired an independent home inspector who was able to catch many problems and they were corrected. Since then, our front door has leaked during every rain storm and Maronda has come out several times only to tell us there is nothing they can do about it. After Hurricane Fay, our bedroom ceiling began to crack and we then found that area to be wet. Last year, we would look in our attic and watch the rain come in through the vents onto the insulation and drywall. They replaced the vents and the contractor who did the work said the roof was never finished propertly.
We have emailed Maronda twice over the past two weeks but they have not responded or acknowledged our email request. This current problem is just a continuation of the original problem since the purchase date, and we believe Maronda needs to honor the warranty since it is still the same problems. And if that was not enough, some of our upstairs windows leak, the upstairs floor squeeks everywhere when you walk on it, and two of the floor beams are now higher than the rest so it sticks up from underneath the carpet.
Anyone have any ideas how to deal with Maronda for these problems?

My air handler was not insulted, neither was the plenum, which has resulted in my entire family becoming very ill. I would also love for there to be a class action lawsuit brought against this so-called home builder.
We have had to pay out thousands of dollars to have the air handler fixed and the mold removed. The medical bills have accumulated as well.

My Maronda home was built in 2002 and it is one big mess! There are cracks in my walls, the front door and dining room leak when we have lots of rain, it wasn't built on level ground, and the AC had to be replaced just last year. I would NEVER buy another Maronda home again!

Maronda Home... Melbourne FL. I own a leak box from this company. I purchased 13 years ago. I am again dealing with mold from all the windows and preparing to rip out the drywall. I am in real estate. I have questions for the State of Florida. Why is this continuing to go forward. This company offers language like cracks in the stucco are 'homeowner neglect' I'm sorry maybe if this slip shot company came and built the governor's home or one of our elected officials we would see a different reaction to the problem. There is a standard that should be met.
If you have this many homes with exact same problem, and you change models and years go by, can you probably guess there is a defect at the top all they way down. I think we need a lawyer who is not scared and has the ability to not be buried in paperwork bring this to a committee. I think we need to have a full service inquest into the company. Maybe they need to contact EVERY SINGLE Maronda homeowner of record past and present and get a quick questionnaire filled out, leaks, comments and ratings.
oh lets see.... i have ripped out drywall, replaced doors, painted, sealed, lost clothing and now have to have mold removed. no baseboards will stay up because of water. I am ripping out the floors again.

We purchased our Maronda Home in 2000 and was forunate enough to be able to sell the house in 2007 and purchase a quality home. The problems were endless. The front door framing was put in wrong causing wood rott so we had to replace the front door and framing. The lot was not graded properly, so we had to install a drainage system. The exterior walls started showing surface cracks w/i the first yr. When we finally sold the house, we failed inspection twice. The flashing was put on backwards causing wood rott in the garage attic. The family room window was put in incorrectly and we had to restucco the exterior around that window.
We left the house in excellent condition for the new owners. We spent a total of $8000 to correct all of the defects and to pass our 2nd inspections.

Our ceiling started cracking the day of our walk through. They came out and fixed it only to have it come back a week later. They fixed it again but cracks came back again. They finally re-applied a knockdown plaster on the entire ceiling . Within a few weeks one crack in the foyer and another along a plant shelf are back along with a small repair area now a different color than rest of ceiling. Also about a few weeks into moving in our garage ceiling stated getting wet.
The roofers came and fixed it but it started leaking again at the next rain. They came out again and reapplied some tar stuff and the drywall guys fixed the wet ceiling.
Now about 4 months later it leaks worse than before and the ceiling is actually falling in where the garage door attaches to the ceiling.A week and a half has gone by since we contacted Moranda and still no roofers.Of course it is now hurricane season so the roof will only get worse. The roofers and the drywall people tell me that the problems we are having are very common with the model home we pirchased.Getting Maronda to do anything is very hard and a superintendant will not come by at all.
We have lost time from work from having to always be here when the work was done.
You constantly are looking up to see if more cracks have appeared and we lost tax storage boxes along with many invaluable personal items when the garage ceiling leaked into them. We cannot park a car in the garage because the ceiling will fall on the car.

Where do I begin? This home has been a problem since we stepped in it. When we first moved into our house ALL the smoke alarms went off at 3 am and no one wanted to come fix them. The breaker tripped and burned because there was bad electrical wiring and fire could have resulted. Our window leaked during a summer storm and soaked our carpets in the living room. It rained on my home office and when I told them this they just said we don't care use your insurance company
Our front door leaked and our carpets got soaked in the front room during a storm, the doors don't line up and shut, our foyer arched window had to be replaced, we've been in our house eight months and have not recieved our six month inspection. There is no hot water going to our garden tub, mold grew in our home and all three of my kids go bacterial pneumonia from it, and our foyer arched window and patio window had to be cut from the dry wall and replaced. We want out of this house out of Pine Bluff community and we want to go find us real home!
Kids got pneumonia, mold grew, rain inside our house, carpet replacement, paid insurance deductible.

I was absolutely taken back when I saw some of the negative comments about Maronda Homes on your website. I have been absolutely delighted with my Maronda community. In fact, I suggested that a friend look at buying in our subdivision. She brought your website to my attention.
Our entire experience with Maronda has been wonderful. The sales lady explained everything thoroughly and gave us the time we needed to make our decision. Our construction guy was great. He responded to our questions honestly and quickly. Our closing went smoothly, unlike some of our friends experiences. We have had no problems with our home. Everything works, our utility bills are less than our apartment which was half the size, and we got a great deal on the home.
Most of the negative comments seem to come from Florida, so maybe Maronda has some problems in that area. All I know is that everybody in our subdivision in Maineville, Ohio love their home. We even have one neighbor who is living in their second Maronda home.

In March of 2008 we had a 6' square area of our roof blow off under normal March winds ( approx 30mph). Had a roofer come out and replace them and he said they were nailed on with too much air pressure from an air gun (pulled holes through complete shingle). Now we have a leak in our hallway (no where near the previous repair) that fills the light fixture and comes through the smoke detector when it rains.I had a roofer come out and look for the leak and I was told the roof was installed so badly that it looked like a drunk or a amature had installed it. (nail pops every where, misaligned shingles, gaps, buckled flashing under the shingles, nails not even nailed into trusses under sheathing, large gaps in sheathing under the shingles, etc) Just a totaly boched up job.
Maronda homes was contacted through my wife and was told it only has a 1 year warranty to the original owner only and there was nothing they could do. Two hours later Maronda homes calls me and tells me they thought that they could help me. Great , I said. They sent out their roofer and inspected the roof , and he agreed with my roofer (they spoke on the phone while he was on the roof) that it was definitely a poor job and it had problems. By the way , this roof is only 7 years old. Maronda's roofer said that his company has had to fix a lot of roofs by this contractor that worked for Maronda during that time.
Now...Maronda calls me and says they are not doing anything on a 7 year old roof after telling me they would. Im screaming mad by now! This is whats wrong with this country and the housing industry now, because people slam out a bad job and take the money to leave the problem for someone else to deal with.No one wants to own up and be responsible to keep a quailty product. I honestly cannot recomend Maronda Homes to a new home owner. I think a mobile home company probably has a better warranty and customer service record.
Our attic and insulation continues to get wet as well as the drywall and carpet if we dont put a bucket down to catch it.We still have to find the funds ($1900.00) to patch and I mean patch the bad area just to stop the leak. Then we have to pray the rest of the roof will not blow off or give us any more problems. We will have problems selling this home without replacing the roof now.

Try asking for help, if you don't get it, it's probably because you didn't deserve it! And remember, for every one unsatisfied grouch (that may not be able to be pleased anyway) there are probably 100's of satisfied owners who appreciate the value of their Maronda home, I know I do!

we purchased home. Then ended up with a sliding glass door that leaked. It was like pulling teeth to get them to come out. They triedto fix, but slider still leaks. Got tired of calling. Also when it rains my front bedroom leaks up near ceiling. They also hooked light fixtures up backwards. Air conditioner fan came off of unit outside and damaged the unit. They forgot air vents in living room and had to punch them through after walk through, also forgot outlet on back patio.
My yard is uneven, they didnt roll it before they poured concrete, had to have them to come back out. After they rolled the yard, the patio is now uneven and I am scared of someone stepping off side and breaking ankle. We have been in house 7 years now and still finding problems. Spending over 28,000 to get house the way we want it.

Since we have purchased the home, part of the living room caved in due to a leaking pipe, and now the entire side of our home lost its aluminum siding due to wind. I had a contractor look at it and he said that the siding is so cheap that the nails stayed in the house, the holes holding the nails in the siding broke.
They use the cheapest material when they build these homes. If you are looking for a new fixer upper, then go ahead and buy a Maronda home.

I purchased the home in February 2006 at the Preserve in Lake Washington, Melbourne, Florida. The tile flooring in the kitchen cracked in several places. It happened within the 6 month warranty period, so they fixed it. The guy that fixed it said they have had numerous problems with it because the concrete slab cracks from the grounds not being prepared properly before they poured the concrete. Since then the tiles and grout have cracked again.
The A/C seemed to be running all the time since I bought the home causing huge electric bills. I reported it to Maronda and they sent people over 2 times. Each time they came in and adjusted the vents saying I didnt have them pointed in the right direction. Needless to say it didn't help. I thought because it was a new home with high ceilings and most likely had very little insulation this is why the home would not stay cool. Finally the A/C just seemed to stop working all together. It wasn't blowing air at all. I called an A/C guy on my own. He came over said they never had put Freon into the A/C and that it was a common occurrence with Maronda.
Next up. I pulled the carpet from the bedrooms and living areas. Cracks are everywhere in the slab. The garage flooring has cracks everywhere too. Everyone of my neighbors have cracks in their flooring too. If they have tile in their kitchens then the tiles are cracked as well. Overall, I am unpleased with my home. Every person I talked to about Maronda Homes after my purchase told me they had heard nothing but problems about this company. Be warned.

I purchased a Maronda new construction home in 2003. At the time of my walk through I noticed a huge water spot at the base of one of the walls in the family room. The foreman made record of it to be repaired. By the time the 6-month inspection rolled around the water spot resurfaced and had to be repaired again by Maronda. Three months before my 1 yr. warranty was up, hurricanes Frances,Ivan and Jeanne rolled across Florida bringing tons of rain, flooded almost an entire side of my home (same side as family room) and numerous stucco cracks on that same side of the house. I wrote and called Maronda on numerous times only to be told they were not responsible.
They did nothing, not even respond to see all the water build up in the wall at the base that eventually seeped inside. I contacted State Farm; they came out but did nothing as well other than say the home is still under warranty and to take it up with Maronda. After months of being lied to and eventually no response, I gave up and had to pay out of pocket to have the floors replaced in Feb. 2005. The first thing the contractor noticed was that the floor wasn't leveled properly so I had to pay extra for that to be done before new flooring could be put down. As of this very day you can see the rotten wood from water damage along the base of that entire side of my home compared to the wall base anywhere else in my home.

I purchased a new Maronda Home at Sheridan Lakes in W. Melbourne, Florida. The home was 6 months old when I noticed what appeared to be water stains on the drywall ceiling. I called the builder and was told that the information would be passed along to the site foreman. After about 3 months and numerous phone calls, we started getting heavy rain prior to Hurricane Frances. The roof leaked and the drywall ceiling collapsed. I notified my insurance company.
They sent an adjuster who stated In this adjusters opinion, sunporch drywall ceiling became saturated with water and collapsed due to improper installation/flashing where sunroof attached to the east wall of the residential structure.Someone attemped to caulk or use stucco material to build a transition-but the product broke up or large enough gaps were present when the roofing material was installed to allow significant water intrusion into finished ceiling (insulation/drywall ceiling. Damage was most likely caused by improper building design and or installation. I was told by Maronda staff that my home would be repaired but they won't take my calls and I have to leave voice mail messages and no one returns my calls. I wrote a return receipt letter and received no reply.
