We have very recent bad experience even we are their regular customer for a few years. Here is our recent experience that we called TruGreen about the aeration and seeding; the sales rep has gone through our account, settled with the service and pre-payment. The pre-payment guy called us even during the weekend (usually they wouldn't call us or respond during the weekends) and we thought he called us for the pre-payment; he did not agree with the pre-payment and said we wouldn't do it for that amount and raised the amount about 50% of the settled amount. Be aware and careful the way they do the business even with the regular customers. We are very unsatisfied.

When I initially called my problem was a very large pear tree that had a fungus and needed treatment. I was informed that they could take care of the problem. On the first scheduled visit the tech never showed up nor called even though I call the company numerous times during the day inquiring on his time of arrival. Was continually given a time but as stated he never arrived. Visit was rescheduled a week later. The tech arrived and only treated the lawn which was not my main problem.
When I called the company asking why the tree was not treated they informed me that they cannot treat a tree over 20 feet tall. I had already told them the apex. height of the tree when I requested the service. I cancelled the contract after hearing about their limitations and requested a refund. Never received the refund. Called the company numerous times and all they keep telling me is they refunded the money but the money was never refunded to the credit card I used. They have been totally uncooperative regarding this matter.

Updated on 10/02/2019: I used the lawn care service, had a problem, wrote a review and got the same canned answer that all the one star reviews got. When I contacted the customer service they lied to me and posted on my review that the had payed for the damage they caused. The money they put back on my credit card was not the correct amount, ie short, that they had agreed to. All of the one star reviews are way too similar to mine to be a coincident. Liars and Cheats. NO STARS!
Original Review: We used their service for a year. At the end of the year we still had weeds. I signed up and paid for one year. Read the fine print! One year of service is not a full year! Before the year was up they showed up without telling me that it would cost more. Then during that treatment their hose knocked down one of the poles for our covered patio and tore the canopy. The tech lied about causing the damage. The company told me they would pay for the damage. It's been almost a month and 1/2, and no payment. I don't trust them and will never do business with them again.
David, we apologize for the confusion. The refund was applied back to the original method of payment on 8.30.19, which was a Visa ending in 4642.

I have used their services for the past 3 years. The first year they were great. The second year they fertilized my lawn and it killed my grass. After several phone calls nothing was resolved. I provided them the opportunity to resolve the problems this year, all was fine for a few months then all went south again. They fertilized my lawn again, I started seeing brown patches in my lawn. I spoke with a representative that stated they will reseed my lawn, once again no action has been taken to this date. However, they call me 5 times a day for a $100.21 bill. It will cost me over $700.00 to reseed my lawn. Please don't get me wrong. I will pay the bill, I just want them to correct the problem. I am always told someone will call me concerning my lawn. No such call has happened. Shameful customer service.

After being a customer for years TruGreen talked my wife into getting shrub service. First service killed my 8 year old weeping cherry. They refused to replace and accept responsibility. I will terminate them, sue them and spread the word to everyone I know not to use them.

I hired the company to help me with the loan because grass start to die. It looks like fungus. I call the company and ask to send specialist to figure out the problem. Instead they send technician to put fertilizer. He said that it is no fungus. The grass continues to die. I call the company and technician came again and did the same. Same result. By the time the grass on the front yard completely gone. The company send another technician and he said that we have fungus, but did not treat.
I put another grass on the front yard but did not do anything with the back yard. I came to the company local office and requested to talk to manager or supervisor. After waiting he came to me and promised to come. Yes, he came and said that we have several problems to fix. He apply something and gone. Several week later another guy came and apply something different saying that we have fungus. Technician came several time and did not go on the back yard, So, all grass on the back yard died. On the front yard new grass, I plant this year, start to die also. Terrible service, not professional attitude. If your grass are healthy, they will apply fertilizer. Otherwise you just lose your money!!!

I have been with TruGreen over 6 years. My lawn has bald patches. The tech in the spring said he would have to have someone come out and evaluate my lawn. The next time I saw him he told myself and my dad "We will have to aerate and seed in the fall." I asked if would be a charge and he said no. Now I am trying to get it done and the management won't even return my call. They just noted my account I would have to pay for it. I would NOT recommend this company. I even had a time over the years a guy said he did my lawn but no way he could have because the back gate was locked. I have done all I can. Go with a cheaper lawn company that keeps their word is my advice.

While walking in our neighbourhood I saw and heard a large truck sitting on the corner running his poorly maintained engine. After several minutes, when the drive neither moved nor turned the engine off, a man emerged and began to hang advertisements for TruGreen on a neighbor’s door. I approached him about the pollution his running engine was producing and he sneered, turned his back to me and proceeded to neighbor’s door. It was a 70 degree morning. No need for air conditioning. If you care about the GREEN part of TRUGREEN, look elsewhere. Their employees clearly have no environmental training at all.

I was told when I started service that I’d be notified a week in advance. That never happened. I always got an alert late in the afternoon on Friday for a Monday appointment. I have dogs in my family and can’t have them in the yard when the service starts. I manually delayed the service every time, last time I told them by phone I didn’t want them coming back until October as my grass was dormant and didn’t need the service. I didn’t like their comments on my lawn care, I live in the PNW and get enough water without following their guidelines about so many inches so many times a week. I also didn’t need all their other services since my lawn is only two years old, no aeration, no thatching, give me a break!
Last straw was when this Friday afternoon I had an appointment scheduled for Monday again. 1 day notice in the afternoon for the following day is not enough notice and not being able to contact them when I get home at 6 in the evening is not possible. They can’t follow my wishes and always tell me the computer spits out the notices. I’m done with them, too much frustration.

While the technicians who apply the products each month are very kind and professional, we still have not seen the value in this program. We hired TruGreen 3 years ago because we wanted a professional service to take care of it and get it looking great. After 3 years of monthly applications and seeding and aeration each fall season, our lawn still looks terrible! We have reached out several times to area managers and they have walked the property to assess the lawn. They continue to ask us to allow them to seed and aerate again, as if doing the same thing will yield a different result. They asked me what I would like them to do in order to get a good looking lawn. I thought that was why I hired them... because they should have the answer to that question. Very disappointed with a nationally recognized brand name. Not surprised that their average rating is 3.6. Personally I would not recommend this company.

The mosquito service did not work. When I called for a reservice I was told it would be a week before anyone could come out. When I signed up for the service I was told if we received even ONE bite in the 30 day period that reservice would occur within 48 hours. This did not happen and the customer service representatives responding to my emails were completely rude and condescending. A reservice did come out one week after my complaint. Two days later we were still receiving bites and again I was told it would be a week before anyone could come out and we would have to pay a full service fee. At this point I canceled the contract. I have two small children who I thought would be safe from bites in our yard. The customer service and product are terrible and I would not recommend TruGreen to anyone.

I have been using them for two years. They call me over and over multiple times a year asking for add-on services, aeration/tree shrub/ mosquito ... it's getting very annoying. One guy was super persistent I basically told him to p off and if he called again I'd cancel my service all together. This company basically is looking to nickel and dime all their customers. I am in the process of finding another company to service my yard that doesn't for upgrades on a monthly basis. Enough is enough!

When I called TruGreen I had a lot of weeds but the lawn was green. After two months of treatment my lawn turned brown, but only on the curbside, the rest was green. I called the company and they sent a manager out. He said it was drought related. I said what about the rest of the yard that has green grass. He had no answer. I fired TruGreen as this killing of the lawn was chemically related.

I had recently bought my first home, and was suffering from a bad case of weeds. I paid the person who cuts my lawn over $100 for weed treatment, which he did twice and my weeds were still in full force. I found TruGreen, and after 1 weed treatment, they were gone and have never came back. They were a life saver!

I signed up with TruGreen last year for lawn service and prepaid for one year. I have been very satisfied with the lawn service and the technician that provides the service. My dissatisfaction is with the billing. After the last 3 treatments I was billed for the service. I would have thought after the first error they would have become aware of the problem and corrected it. I'm tired of dealing with their mistakes.

I am using their services for lawn, tree and shrub care since 2015. Every year noticed a downward change. Right now my lawn is with lot of patches, weeds, and shrubs burnt out, one tree was badly infected. Even though reported several times, no action by TruGreen.

Anthony ** did an outstanding job aerating and overseeding my property on 8/29/2019. I had recently installed an underground drain pipe that he avoided so as to not puncture it. He followed up with suggestions pertaining to the service he performed and how to enhance it.

Over 6 months into the service and my lawn is still full of weeds, moths, dead spots and mosquitoes. Calling multiple times to complain has resulted in no improvements. In fact, they tried to upsell me for $138 aeration treatment in response to my complaints that the service was not working! This has been a horrible experience and I cannot wait for my contract to be up so that I can hire a company whose products work for my lawn and I don't waste time every month calling to complain to people who provide no solutions. I can't even get an actual manager to call or visit my lawn to address my concerns. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

I have been a customer of TruGreen for many years & have always had a good experience. If a problem is spotted, all it takes is a phone call & they will come back & redo the job. I do not have to remember when I fertilized, go out & buy the materials for the job, rent a machine to spread it or any of the other things necessary to have a nice lawn. All I have to do is water it & mow it.

I have had TruGreen now for more than eight months. Very disappointed in the service and discussion related to my yard. This is not new and regional manager is indicating he will work with me on bringing my yard back. Initial sales reps were very positive about maintaining my yard, so I signed the contract...at this point will NOT recommend the TruGreen brand.
As a national brand, I certainly expected more given TruGreen has so many contracts in the Villages, FL. More interaction with the homeowners would help and having dedicated technicians for the same areas which they service would help immensely, my yard has been deteriorating for months and no tech discussed these issues with me. Frustrated, but not surprised...in the villages, businesses promise a healthy lawn and seem to fall short during the contract. Lots of excuses, not much action. I am the laughing stock of my neighborhood, very embarrassing for my family and should be for the TRUGREEN Brand!

I have been very pleased with the service that TruGreen provides. Many people have commented on my lawn. I have recommended numerous neighbors to TruGreen; although, I have not been awarded for the recommendations?! The service techs have always been very friendly and professional. They usually leave a detailed note about the treatment they did. My only concern is that I am not sure if the techs do my entire yard at times. I do strongly suggest that you give them a try!!!

TruGreen does a really good job of keeping scheduled appointments as weather permits, they remove any weeds throughout the application schedule and really help keep the lawn green and in overall good condition. We moved into our house about a year ago. We have never had a lawn like this so we wanted to keep it looking as nice as possible. We started with TruGreen Lawn Service and were very satisfied with the results. TruGreen then suggested their Mosquito Defense Service. We have a pool and four grandson, who are all susceptible to mosquito bites so we contracted for this service. We have been overwhelmed about how great this has been - not one bite all summer! Finally we recently had TruGreen to aerate our lawn. Again, our specialist took great care in finding our sprinklers before he started aerating. TruGreen Specialist are always polite and explain what they are going to do and what we should do after they leave. We will continue to use TruGreen for our lawn services.

I purchase my lawn service annually, paid ahead and save 10%, additionally what I like: call first, do the service when scheduled, lastly leave you a description of service rendered and leave helpful suggestions. If I need service, just call and they will come right out and take care of that, I.e. sod web worms spray.

It has happened on many occasions this year where I get the auto call letting me know of a service rep coming to my house on a certain day, and then he does not show up. I have to make special arrangements on my end and when he does not show up, it really makes me angry. I am considering dropping the service. I have asked to talk to a Manager, and I never get a return call.

Our lawn looks great but right now there is a lot of crabgrass. We were notified about a month ago that another treatment was coming and to mow our lawn first. We have not seen anyone or heard anything since. Please advise!

If you're considering this company to care for your lawn or repair your lawn, then look somewhere else. I've had TruGreen out to my house 3 times now. The first time I was given an explanation as to the cause of my browning lawn and then instructions on what to do with my watering schedule. The second time the techs that showed up said the first set of techs had misdiagnosed the problem and then I was given a completely different set of instructions of how to care for my lawn. The third visit consisted of the tech stating that what the last Tech had told was incorrect and I was now given a third set of direction which directly contradicted the last. I'm Done!! Its clear none of these Techs know what they're talking about and I'm out hundreds of dollars and left with a lawn that looks like hell and is unprepared for the coming winter. Thanks Trugreen

In the beginning, I trusted this company. It just so happened that I had a security system with cameras at my house that enabled me to see what this company is really about. I received a phone call from one of their representatives this month. She told me that a tech had been out recently and discovered that my shrubs were infested with aphids. She gave me the date that the technician was supposed to have discovered this issue. I agreed to set up service to remedy the problem. She then stated that she would need my debit card number which I thought was strange because I have been on autopay for almost three years. I then told her that I would have to call her back after I found my wallet.
I then looked back at the camera footage for that day and saw that there was no activity that day. I didn't remember receiving the packet at the door that they usually leave and after looking outside I realized that there were no stakes in the ground either. I called her back and made her aware of the situation. She stated she would notify the technician's manager and that someone would be out to rectify the issue. Two weeks later no one has been out and I was still charged for a lawn treatment that I did not receive.

Our lawn looks more healthy this year with Tru-Green applications than it has looked for 20 years. The lawn looks thicker, green and healthy even in our shaded areas. Would recommend Tru-Green for KY lawns. This company provides good service with professional employees.

I installed sod to my entire lawn last Oct. In the spring I had the nice lawn, it really look great. In late June with all the rain my lawn got a fungi growth. I researched and found out that it was a fungi and I need profession services to remove, or kill it. I called TruGreen and it took a week for someone to call me back after I forward pictures to a supervisor. They push the sales of fertilizer and weed killer so much and said it would take place the same day as the fungi spray so I broke down and said ok. Well, a week later they showed up and just fertilized and sprayed weed killer. I call because I had a fungi problem and they didn't service my lawn for that??
It took over a month after that for them to get someone to come out, by that time my lawn was getting destroyed by this fungi. I spoke with 3 different supervisors who said they couldn't understand why I wasn't getting serviced and they guarantee me it would be take in care of immediately. Still weeks later no one has showed up to service my lawn. I would never recommend anyone who cares about their lawn to use their unreliable services. I have more weed now then ever had... and they sprayed for weeds. Please review the pictures I'm uploading of my lawn so everyone could see why I'm so upset and this service they're selling. My lawn is the best looking lawn on my street. People ask me who does my lawn. I tell them that Tru-Green takes care on how the lawn looks. They make my lawn look green and stands out over all the other lawns on my street. Then I have a lawn service who comes by and mows, edges and weed eat my lawn. I thank both of them for keeping my lawn looking the way it does.

I had used TruGreen for a few years. The weeds just grow more and more. With their guarantee they came back for retreatment, but it does not control the growth of the weeds. I also purchased their expensive mosquito treatment, it also does not work. I think their chemicals just do not work at all, so the retreatment guarantee is just an empty promise. Their plans are also expensive, and the non working solution is going to cost me more to repair area damaged by weeds. I am switching to another company.

I received a phone call from your organization (hopefully recorded) regarding aeration treatment which I declined as I had it done last year. I had a second phone call. for grub control which I accepted. On August 12 a Michael ** visited my property and did aeration, I was not home and left me a invoice for $111.32. On August 13 I received a visit from Robin ** who did grub control, which I ordered. When I questioned him about yesterdays visit and invoice he said it was part of the grub control. HOWEVER I received another invoice for $118.33 so you are billing me for two services when I only ordered ONE. I have paid both under protest today but want restitution for the aeration WHICH I DID NOT ORDER. Again check your recording.

About one week after spraying our lawn, three areas started browning. Two areas were about 2ft X 10ft, and the other area was about 2ft X 5ft. They returned and put something else on the spots, and we watered the areas heavily. It took almost three months for the areas to come back where it wasn’t too noticeable. Everyone was nice when we called, and they refunded our money, however three brown areas for three months was pleasant to see.

I had a moderate amount of weeds before I hired Trugreen, now my lawn is choked with weeds. When I call to complain, they say they are coming out to reapply and don't show up. When I ask to speak with my local office I'm told they don't have a phone. When I ask to speak to the national office, they also don't have a phone. When I'm promised a refund I don't get it. All I get is more weeds.

If I could have given them 0 stars, I would have. Do not do business with this Company as they provide horrible customer service and do not back their service guarantee. Upon first application, technician only sprayed 6,651 square feet of the 11,000 square foot in my yard. I brought this to their attention and not once has anyone within TruGreen given me a legitimate reason as to why the work order stated they treated 6,651 square feet. Not only that, but it has been over two weeks since they sprayed, and the weeds have not even started to die. Patches of my yard are full and green from the fertilizer application, but other areas are yellowish in color, like there was no fertilizer put down.
I paid for the full contract upfront and since then, I have cancelled that contract. Due to the issues I encountered and mentioned above, I expected a full refund, but was only given a partial refund. Since I was only given a partial refund, I demanded they come back out and re-spray the yard, which is a service guarantee they tout in their sales pitch. However, they are stating that since I cancelled my contract and am no longer an active customer, they cannot come back out and re-spray.
So, they knowingly spray half of my yard, do not put enough product down to eliminate the weeds, wouldn't give me a full refund and will not honor their service guarantee. Look at reviews from other social media avenues. Look at the number of BBB complaints this company has placed on them (which I did one as well). They simply do not care about the customer and they cut corners to save money. I would never recommend this company to anyone, and never will I do business with them again.

Lawn turning Brown from curb approx 4ft wide x 62 ft long plus 2 x 8 area. Called TG for assist. Sent Lonnie ** out to review. He took photos for the Mgr. Didn't know what caused it to Brown. Weeks later BM called to review problem. No solution. Sent Lonnie to spread top soil and rye seed. Too hot to germinate. Cont'd to burn lawn. Spoke to CS reps. From Tenn, Fla, Colo. NJ. Sympathetic to help. Entered problem in file.
BM finally called and said not his fault. Sorry but can't help. Must call landscaper to relace. Called landscapers for quote to resod area. Got prices from $ 850 to $1575. Gave to lower price and work. Completed prox 8/9/2019 for $850. Requested TruGreen to reimburse. BM James ** says he is not auth to will send to Corporate. Getting calls from cust service reps to aerate lawn for free in lieu of Cash $$$.How cheap can you be. This my third year w/ TG. Can this continue or will their corp legal dept pummel me into submission.??? Or will they reimburse me and keep me as a customer????

I had two very bad experiences with this company they claim are the best. They are the worst. Three years ago I paid in full the service and they literally burned my lawn. They apologize for it and nothing more. This year they skept services and my lawn is full of weeds although when they started was in very good condition. BE AWARE and keep track when they service your lawn. They are supposed to do services at 27 days interval. If they don't show up call them.

On 7 August a TruGreen representative visited our property and did not knock on the door. We have cameras on the property so that we can see what is going on both front and back yards. The only time hey went off was when he hung the final tag on the door. We had to pull weeds from the yard several days later as represented in the attached photo. It is obvious that our yard was not done or we would have seen the representative on our cameras.

Last week my husband called to see how much a simple fertilization treatment would be. The person who answered the phone was in full sales mode, pressuring him to go back to a full yearly lawn service. When my husband asked what number he could call back to, he was told that they would call him. When my husband asked again, the salesperson hung up on him.

Had Trugreen for 1 year. Lawn in worse shape than when they started. Several website comments and concerns went unsatisfied. The communication with Trugreen is somewhat difficult. The 800 number you call seems to be a service, who then passes the information to the local office. They claim to have no phone numbers or email addresses to allow the customer any contact privileges. To have a lawn look that bad after 1 year is both unacceptable and demonstrates poor Trugreen field experience. I cancelled the service several days ago. Most professional companies would not have allowed this to end as it has.

In Sep. 2017 we moved to a brand new house, the front and side lawn was all sod. The backyard was grass seeds which never made it to full bloom. There were many patchy areas by spring time, I started working on it for few months and plugged all types of weeds from the yard, one day in Sep. 2018 a TruGreen salesperson came to our neighborhood. He asked if I was interested in Golf course like lawn with 100% guarantee, we signed a one year contract for about $900.00. The first couple of visits were on time and who knows what they sprayed on our yards. Aug. 2019 is coming to end and we have the worst backyard in the zip code, I made many calls to them to fix our problem yet we got nothing but sweet promises, folks please review the attached pictures and see for yourself, I took these pictures after filling 17 bags of weeds in the past three weeks.

I would only say those from the Metroplex of Dallas, (Plano,Texas office) that are considering TruGreen....beware. And extremely cautious, that TruGreen's General Manager who is not only unethical but bonafide liar. After reassuring that he would personally make my damages right. Should you all elect to use this TruGreen (Plano, Texas) be prepared that they do not stand behind their own product (Burned lower half of my Maple tree). General Manager took my email, stating they would warrantied the tree if it should die. Never heard another thing from him, making me cancel them immediately from harming any other vegetation on my property. They burnt the lawn as well from the overspray in windy and extreme heat. Don't trust this GM or his staff, they don't care.

I have been using TruGreen for 3 years and never before had a problem. But earlier this week, I came home to find a sticker on my door that said the lawn tech couldn’t treat my front or back lawn because the gate to the backyard was locked. I never have had and don’t want my backyard treated!! I called and complained and the phone rep, instead of apologizing, made a lot of silly excuses. Finally he rescheduled the appointment for a few days later. The tech came on the appointed day, very early in the morning, and treated the front lawn but left another sticker on my door saying he could not treat the backyard because the gate was locked! WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO GET THIS TECH TO READ THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR MY LOCATION? I do not want and do not pay for treatment of my backyard.

Their motto is A Green and Healthy Lawn Guaranteed-- but that guarantee has exclusions. I prepaid for a year of service, and I had 2 different technicians come. Each told me my lawn is 90% weeds, and will never have grass unless I reside--fair enough, but that wasn't the guarantee of the sales rep. My first call was met with push back-- my second call I was told a manager would call me within 48 hours ---60 hours later, 72 hours later still waiting. I was told they can make my lawn green, but it would be nothing but green weeds. Nothing but regrets....

I tried for lawn care last year, my front yard was okay but not in the back yard. I make sure to cancel it the beginning of the year because we will go abroad a few times this year. They came on April when we were away for a month, they send me a bill to pay and the service will be continue. I didn’t want to continue the service this year and I called them that I didn’t signed the contract this year and already canceled it just in case they automatically continues the contract last year. It’s not about $66.21 payment but as a big company (even small) not doing this kind of stuff. God know how my heart is...I would rather to give to people who needed the money than pay this. At the end I pay it. Just don’t want to argue for this amount of money. It’s so disappointing I will look for another company for the next lawn care.

I signed up for TruGreen's lawn service for the first time ever this year. I do not notice much difference in the weeds in my yard than when we were treating ourselves but that’s not my complaint - since signing up they have attempted to upcharge me several times for mostly yard insect treatments. I got a call stating that the person who recently inspected my yard noticed several species of insects on the trees, bushes, and shrubs which could destroy those and potentially my home. Well I have none of those in my yard. We have cut down and dug up all bushes and last year had two trees cut down. So when I brought this up to her she apologized and stated she was just relaying what the tech told her. Well conveniently they were scheduled to be here the next day to service my lawn, which I’m assuming they were hoping to add on the unnecessary bug treatment too.
Needless to say I canceled the service with them altogether! Called to speak to the manager the following day and was given every excuse (one stupid one after another that I quickly shut down) why they didn’t lie and was unable to produce the suggestion from the tech and proof of insects. That same day received another call about how badly my lawn needed aerated and was pointed out by the tech that was at my house that day...
The tech for the services that was terminated the day before, no one from TruGreen came that day, my lawn was recently aerated and you can still see some of the plugs so again they blatantly lied. I am contacting every agency out there and will continue to post on every social media platform I can find until I get written acknowledgment that they lied to me in an attempt to sell me services that I did not need. In my opinion they are committing fraud. Be careful with these companies and their lying, manipulative scare tactics!

We paid over $600 for their complete lawn service. They never come out. Every single time we have them scheduled they have one excuse or another of why we couldn't get serviced that day. "Mechanical Issues" "Not enough time" amongst many others. We have had them since May, it is now middle of August and we have more weeds now than when we started.

I had been a TruGreen customer for a few years after they bought the company I previously used for my lawn service. In that time frame, the quality of both lawn care and customer service diminished considerably. Early this summer, I contacted customer service to see if they could send someone to my property to better tailor my service and address the issues I was seeing. After some back and forth, some no-shows to their scheduled appointments, I finally had enough and switched to a different provider.
Just today, two and a half months after my outreach to customer service, a technician FINALLY contacted me to see if my issue had been resolved. I politely explained that I had decided to use someone else for my lawn care. He asked why; I explained that I wasn't happy with the results of the service and that I was unimpressed with customer service. As soon as I said the words "customer service," he HUNG UP ON ME. Even though I am no longer a TruGreen customer, I feel compelled to share my terrible experience to dissuade those thinking of using TruGreen to go elsewhere. Zero stars. Do not use this company.

We used TruGreen for a couple of years. They did a good job until last month. We had a mosquito treatment and the technician spilled something on our new driveway. After 4 calls to customer service and not until we canceled our future service did anyone call back. The person that did call was less than interested in helping us. I’ve attempted to clean the spill myself with no luck. Although the customer service reps were polite, the end result was very poor service and the need for a professional driveway service to come out to repair the damage.

Just putting it out there. If any of you use TruGreen to take care of your lawn, BEWARE! I've been using them since November of last year. I didn't understand why I was not getting the results I wanted and what they guaranteed after 9 months until yesterday. The technician that apparently comes out and sprays my lawn stated he arrived at my home at 10:54am yesterday, knocked on my door and since I did not answer he went ahead and went in my backyard and sprayed and continued with the front of the house. Then he proceeded and wrote up his recommendations and emailed me the receipt of his services. WELL! How ODD!! My security cameras did not pick him up and my backyard gate was locked and on top of that I was home all day and did not see him on my property.
So on that note I've been paying for services that they are not rendering and after review on the BBB there are 1000s of the same complaints. This company is ripping people off and not doing the job that they have been hired to do. So just an FYI for anyone that uses TRUGREEN they are stealing your money. Also they will be losing lots of business in the subdivision I live in after I made everyone aware of their fraudulent work. WOW to my surprise many of my neighbors have had the same problem. Also reading tons of complaints through the BBB and social media outlets and they all say the same. This company needs to be shut down! I am very pleased with my TruGreen lawn service mainly because of the specialist that takes care of my lawn. His name is Fabio ** and he does a terrific job. He takes extra special care of my lawn and always explains to me what he has done. The only complaint I have about TruGreen is the management or should I say lack of management at the local main office. I have never been able to communicate with them so as long as I can deal solely with Fabio I am happy. If I am forced to deal with the local office I will probably cancel my account as I have done in the past.

First indicators of possible insect damage were reported by telephone and received action type response within a 48 hour period. prior notification of expected routine service appointments via telephone recordings are appreciated. A multitude of weeds both front and back plus the front continues to remain brown throughout and there are long strands of grass coming through the entire front. I think the weed application though it says will work on nutsedge, did not. I went to Home Depot and used the nutsedge specific and they had caused the yellowing. Nutsedge is tenacious. Also, I added the fungicide. Two treatments. The first about 2 weeks ago. No improvement yet.

Beautiful lawns are mainly about feeding the good stuff (grass) and killing the bad stuff (weeds) along with a few other steps like the right PH, killing grubs, and aeration/seeding. TRUGREEN does a great job on all these elements. They do it at the right time for just fractionally more (the value of your saved labor) than you would need to pay for the lawn products -- not to mention that you don't need to handle the chemicals. The result is a fantastic lawn. I love how my lawn looks and what it feels like to walk barefoot on a beautiful thick green carpet of grass!!

I ordered service for mosquitoes and I was told they would come out tomorrow. That did not happen. I called each day and the recorder would always say tomorrow they would be out. So after a week of this I ordered from another company. They came out within 4 hours. Sooo if you need something done sooner than later then this is not the right company for you.

TruGreen has recently changed to a shorter hose to provide service. There was no notification to customers. Therefore, I am not getting the same service I originally signed up for. You can not talk to your local office. You can only talk to a rep somewhere in US who sends email to technician or local office. No responses are ever received. Ineffective customer service policy. After 30+ years as customer, I will be looking for a new company for both lawn & tree services.

I have had their service for 1.5 seasons. First year showed improvement. Second season my grass started to die after the first treatment. After the second treatment about 50% of my grass has died. It took place right after TruGreen's service. I have tried to contact the company, TruGreen of Lorton, Va. The management has not returned my calls. I noticed that out of about 10 service calls I had about six different technicians. I do not have confidence in what these people tell me about the lawn.

I had the worst experience with this company...I hired them because I thought that I would have a beautiful looking lawn in a year! I never saw them when they came out, but they left the sign in the yard. I was having to call to get them back out. Everything they do is over the phone. There is nothing personable about this company. I have less grass now than I did when they started. I paid for the year, not sure what I paid for since every time they do what they call a "special treatment". Out comes the wallet again!! They did treatments that I didn't ask to have done. Now I've been turned over to a collection agency because I refuse to pay services that were probably not rendered. I have never wasted so much money and got less than I deserved!!! I would stay away from this company!!! There are more reputable companies out there....I give TruGreen an F.

Lawn Treatment was done regularly. We had a weed free lawn. The rains brought out a lot of mushrooms. It was difficult to clear then. The rain was on almost every day. The grass was growing fast, which would have choked any weeds that would want to come up.

Since starting the TruGreen services, my lawn has improved in appearance and density with almost no visible weeds. The service tech have been polite and have kept me informed about everything they are doing as well as upcoming scheduled services. If weeds are found, all it takes is a phone call to get a technician out to retreat the lawn. That's pretty good customer service.

Co. Representative gave advice as to further treatment of several unhealthy trees. We have taken that advice and are awaiting results. Did not call - showed up and ask if we would consider letting them spray the trees etc. Pointed out your company repairs sprinklers, I had three heads not working correctly. Just a heads up they are now working the yard parson was also noting mowed too short - mower was set at 3 1/2 inches - still need the thistles sprayed. Had them for three years now!!

Newly planted lawn came up with a lot of weeds. Hired TruGreen for help. First treatment helped and technician was great but needed a re-treatment. OMG!!! What a nightmare!! Promised four times but never happened. Weeds are choking out grass and call after call with promise after promise and delay after delay and nobody ever showed up to do the job! Their guarantee means nothing! I finally gave up and cancelled them. Will do the job myself! I am 70 years old and tired of having to do everything myself! Was hoping for a little help!

I hired TruGreen to improve the color and density of my lawn. 24 hours after the last service my grass turned to a yellow brown color due to treatment. I called their customer service and they said someone will come out to check in a few days. Absolutely no urgency. Extremely disappointed in their service.

I called the 800 number and signed up for a plan. I made sure the rep noted down that the first visit of the technician to the house had to be by appointment, because I, the customer, needed to be at the house on this first visit because I wanted to discuss the condition and history of my 2+ acre lawn before I can proceed. Several days later, I receive an automated call advising me that the technician is on his way to the house. I called the 800 number and mentioned that I am not able to meet the technician on a short notice and that they need to make an appointment at least a day in advance. I also told them that I will be out of town for two weeks and that this appointment should be after that date.
The next day I receive an email stating that the technician will be visiting on a day during the week that I am out of town. This scenario of assigning a visit without making an appointment was repeated several times, so, realizing that I am dealing with a chaotic company, I called and asked to cancel the account. That same day, someone claiming to be from the local office called me, apologized, and promised that these errors will not occur again. We agreed to keep the account open and that the technician will visit the house on or after August 12th. On August 2nd, I receive a phone call on my cell phone (roaming overseas) from a TruGreen technician. He tells me he is now at my house and will be proceeding to take a look at the lawn.
I check my surveillance cameras and, sure enough, there is a TruGreen truck on my property and the man talking to me is wearing a TruGreen shirt. I video tape him remotely while he is talking to me. I tell him he was not supposed to show up before Aug 12. He says he has no record of that. I ask him to leave, and I call the 800 number. I ask the phone rep to check the notes on the account, and she confirms that there were over 5 phone calls by me asking them to make sure no one goes to the house before Aug 12. She states that she has nothing that shows that a technician was supposed to go to my house today and that she does not know why someone did go. I ask her to close the account. After some serious resistance, she says she will.
This sounds like a simple story but it was actually an ordeal. TruGreen never got my instructions right after 5 phone calls (not counting the last one). It is clear that there is no coordination between their corporate center (the 800 #) and their local offices. It is clear that the function of the corporate center is to just sign you up for a plan, and then the local offices operate on their own. If you care about customer service, you are better off working with a smaller local company.

The technician, Zachary **, was very accommodating by adjusting his schedule around mine to let me mow the lawn first. He was thorough and pleasant. He was also very respectful of the yard, flower pots etc. making sure that he did not disrupt anything with his hoses.

Prior to our most recent Lawn Care treatment, I called and spoke with TruGreen office notifying them that we have Zeon Zoysia sod that had been laid 4 weeks previous. I shared with that that only products that would benefit the new lawn was not to be used. I was reassured that my message would be given to the tech. This was last week the service was done. Today my grass is dying. This needs to be corrected immediately, please. My new lawn cost me $1,500 and I cannot afford to replace it. In April of 2018 I contacted TruGreen to treat my lawn. On 4/24/18 Kevin ** came out and looked at my lawn and said they could definitely improve it. Said I might see some decline at first but should fill in nicely and by the end of this season I should see some definite improvement. Various treatments were performed starting 5/1-10/18 for a total of 7 treatments at a cost of $400.18. As Aug and September past I noticed a large portion of my lawn was turning brown and dying. In no part of my lawn did I see any improvement, only thinner and browner. By the spring of 2019 60% of my lawn was dead. Calls to TruGreen were unanswered.
After a social media post I was contacted on 5/8/19 and told they would look into it. On 5/21/19 at 9am I was contacted by Dan ** who stated that on 5/20 my lawn had been aerated and slit seeded by TruGreen. This wasn’t true because two hours later I was contacted by another guy who was at my house stating he was from TruGreen and there to aerate/ slit seed my lawn. I left work for the day and met two men at my house. These two men had no idea what they were doing. The fellow operating the aerating machine, by his own admission, had never operated one before and was using it with a flat tire that I had to fix. The 2nd fellow, presumably the one in charge had little knowledge of how to operate the slit seeder or how either machine should be used. This is clearly visible from the pictures. Neither of them appeared to be trained in any lawn care.
At my expense I covered bare areas with straw and kept entire lawn moist as needed. Taking into consideration the cold spring I knew germination would be slow. The results after 30 days were pretty grim. Since that time I have fertilized and seen some improvement but most of my lawn is in poorer condition than before TruGreen. At least 2500sf will have to be tilled and reseeded from scratch. I paid TruGreen for their professional services. They left my lawn in worse shape than when they started. Since they attempted to repair the damage they are obviously aware they caused this issue.

Looking to get a quote for some basic maintenance and mentioned I was looking for pricing from here and other places. I was given the reply as if I "don’t care about my yard" just because of the simple statement that I am looking at multiple companies and not choosing to go with TruGreen right away. Multiple companies use similar if not the same products, but at the end of the day if the customer service sucks then it doesn't matter how great your "premium product" is compared to others. Even in the end if the product is superior, you're not earning my business by talking down to me. Good luck.

There are stripes on on the lawn in the front of our home indicating a very uneven application of the fertilizer. The appearance is not what we hope for using the services of TRUGREEN. TruGreen bought out Turf Masters which was an amazing lawn service. Now I have TruGreen and they are awful. They skimp on put any product down, don’t blow off sidewalks and have a bunch of people working there that really could care less about doing it right. I have complained just about every time they have come to the house. Nothing has changed. Please if you want a amazing lawn then do not hire TruGreen. My lawn looks like ** ever since they took it over. They will not be doing it next year for sure. They're freakin' awful.

What sets Tru-Green apart from other service providers is their willingness to return until the customer is satisfied with results. On July 24, Joshua ** provided this service for me. We spoke prior to his application of weed control substances and he explained what and why he was using these chemicals. He was very thorough and answered each question I had. After 2 treatments my lawn still had weeds and was brown in spots. I called the TruGreen office and told them and shortly after their company troubleshooter came down and re treated my lawn with some different chemicals and he explained my problems due to the excessive heat. He told me that it should start to clear up in 10 days or to call him back, So far it has been getting better and I am delighted I am with TruGreen.

I was skeptical about their satisfaction guarantee, but they REALLy mean it. They always follow up after service to make sure we're happy. If we aren't they come out and fix it. The specialists who come to the house are friendly and knowledgeable (for real). Even though they are out in the heat all day they are always so kind and ready to answer any questions. We have the mosquito and lawn service. Couldn't be happier. My yard was a mess when they started. I've had so many neighbors come by and ask me what I'm doing to it... it's funny actually. Hopefully, TruGreen will have a ton of clients in the neighborhood soon.

It's been hit or miss with me. 1st application went very well seeing results immediately, knocked out a good chunk of our creeping charlie. 2nd application saw nothing really happen, but we were in the middle of excessive rain. We called to have it resprayed and the tech came to our door, but did nothing, we were very upset. Both called and went online to complain and they came out the next day. Then saw we were scheduled for a service last Saturday, 7-27-19, and waited around the house so we could talk to the tech. My scheduled window was 8am-1pm, never showed even though my wife saw them 2 blocks away!! Called the number after 1 and she assured me that they would stop and even said she would have them call me, never did. So I'm again disappointed with TruGreen.

Treatment killed grass. I have had a experience 2 months ago or more. I complained that a 3' to 4' area was dead. Someone came out, looked, agreed and said this will be replaced by sod. The date came and no sod. I called again. Someone else came out. Said they would tell their supervisor Thomas. Another appointment was made and no one came out. I still have the dead area the side my garage. Can someone please finally help.

It's been two weeks and the crab grass is really looking bad, wilted and pale color. We bought our house a year ago and the lawn hadn’t been cared for... probably ever. So it was full of weeds and bad grasses. Over the late spring and summer we’ve worked hard to get it better (not perfect at all even still). However, our assistance from TruGreen has been outstanding! I've told this several times to TruGreen. The application I was to receive was NOT completed so I was told he would come back and I haven't heard anything to date. I have to give this a one star because I haven't heard anything from anyone as far as a date they will return to do the application. Luckily I was home to at least see the truck here AND see the truck drive away without performing the task. There were NO signs left in the yard so I would have never known he was here if I wasn't home.

We have had TruGreen since Oct of last year and until this last service the lawn looked great, just like my neighbors who has been a customer for sometime. I was so disappointed after the June treatment I called and canceled the service. The agent was very cordial and when asked refunded my last service charge. A few weeks later I called and spoke with another agent who couldn’t have any nicer. When I ask about them correcting the problem she said that since I had canceled the service she could not do anything to help. I do believe if the first agent had mentioned the warranty and what could be done I might have stayed a customer. I have been a TruGreen customer for 25+ years. Over the last few years, the back yard was consistently not treated resulting in a profusion of weeds. Multiple calls to include the supervisor did not resolve the problem. In frustration, I have cancelled my relationship. I still do not understand why something so simple could be so difficult to accomplish. The only explanation that comes to mind is lack of interest and incompetence.

The team that does the lawn service is great. They take time to do the job right, give excellent advice, are very considerate. However... getting them to your house (when you need to be there) is a nightmare. For my Spring sprinkler startup, I called and let them know that any day but Monday or Friday would be great. So what day was the tech scheduled? Friday. With less than 24 hour notice. Then the next time he was scheduled? 7 am on July 5th. No notice... and I was in CA so got a 6 am “notification” while on vacation. Finally it got booked to where the time worked. And it was great! But the poor guy had to come 3 times! And if I didn’t know how to start my sprinklers on my own, this really would have been a problem. Great team. Horrible scheduling!!!!

I had SOD put in last year and was beautiful. To make sure I maintained a great looking yard I called TruGreen and signed up. Ever since, my lawn has been anything BUT green! I called on several occasions and each time my call was promptly answered by a very courteous customer service agent (somewhere out in the Midwest).
They reassured me my service rep would contact me and go over the details of my concern. I made it clear I wanted to talk to this person directly and they said of course. I later found a note in my mailbox that said, "so service needed or performed". I called back and the same thing happened again! I was NOT satisfied and nothing was being done. Finally, I got a hold of the service guy and he now tells me my lawn has a fungus (never reported before), and that for extra money they could treat it but with no guarantees! Trugreen sounds too good to be true and it is. Don't fall for the low prices and phony sales pitch. Your lawn won't be TRUGREEN at all!

I had knee replacement surgery in the Spring and knowing that I wouldn't be able to handle fertilizing my lawn myself I contacted TruGreen. When I signed up I advised them that our backyard is fenced in and all of the gates are locked; and that they would need to call a day ahead of their arriving. The first application went as planned. The second though went terribly wrong. There was no phone call. I arrived home to find a notice hanging on our front door advising that they had been there and outlined the service that they had performed which included grub control and fertilizer. They claimed that they had serviced both the front and back yards; but they couldn't have because the gates were all locked.
When I contacted them to report this they advised that they would reschedule us and that someone would be contacting us. After waiting several weeks with no further contact from them I called and requested that the contract be cancelled and that I be refunded the full amount because TruGreen had not lived up to their agreement. Ultimately I was refunded $317.51 of the original $512.84 that I had paid. So basically the first service that I received in the Spring cost me $195.33 which seems like a lot for that one application. I would not recommend TruGreen to anyone and if I could I would have rated them with zero stars.

We have been dealing with TruGreen for quite a few years now. When we first started, our yard had quite a few weeds in it, and unfavorable grasses. Over the years, they have been to rid our yard of the majority of the weeds and unfavorable grasses so now it looks quite presentable. We also have them treat our trees and shrubs, which has really helped them. Overall, we are very happy with the service we get from TruGreen, and look forward to continued business with them.

We have been TruGreen customers for over 10 years. We have a unique lakefront situation and TruGreen has accommodated our special needs successfully. Extraordinary service provided by out technician. He takes personal interest in our lawn and it shows. If we call indicating we have a weed growing, he comes to take care of it. He keeps the lawn in balance chemically, ergo we have very few reasons to call for an extra look at something. Feel free to drive by and take a look at the lawn. See for yourself.

"Had" TruGreen lawn service to spray my home for mosquitoes for the summer. They came to my residence to spray and failed to lock my rear gate which was left wide open. My 2 dogs got out and I had to be called by the Dog Officer at my work because of this. Although my dogs could have been killed by a car on the main street, that is really not the biggest issue as I know mistakes can be made. What angers me is that I called the company for the 3rd time since last week when the issue happened and still have been unable to speak to a manager. The worst customer service that I have ever seen. They apparently do not care at all about their customers. TruGreen is clearly a company that only cares about their business and not the people that pay for their service. They have clearly lost this customer, I hope they lose a lot more for their insensitive and uncaring business....

Your folks do a really great job with my home at Heber Springs, still have a lot of weeds and nut grass popping thru, but as a whole, great; people nice, friendly and courteous. We are usually not there when they come, but see them on the cameras.

I have had something in my yard that I thought was a type of grass. I googled it and it looked somewhat like a weed. But I have had this so figured it's not what I had. They always call before they come out to set a date. As I've requested, they always ring the doorbell and talk to me about anything I have questions or concerns about; and they always seem to have the answer. Lawn servicing demonstrates continued improvement in color, consistency and content. After five years of service the yard has been salvaged thanks to TruGreen's lawn and more recently shrub care. I do not recommend this company at all. First year customer for TruGreen and for first time ever I have weeds everywhere. My yard looks horrible. Prepaid for lawn care 450.00 and guess what - complete waste of money. They refuse to give me back my money back and just keep retreating but there is no way they are treating my yard. Weeds everywhere. Buyer beware. Use any service but TruGreen. Just horrible.

We get good service on regular basis. Lawn is healthy and the moles are gone since TruGreen got rid of their food supply with grub control. They have gotten better about staying away from our yard lights since we spoke to them about that matter.

When the applicator fertilized my yard on July 8, the mixture was wrong and it burned my lawn leaving numerous yellow spots. The young lady who came to look at it last week was very courteous and explained what had happened and what I could expect for recovery. She also took pictures to show her supervisor what had happened. Fortunately we are having a lot of rain which will help it recover.

Have been with TruGreen for a while. So far they overfertilized and killed my lawn 3 times. Happened this month too. They always have readymade answer “your lawn is infested with fungus” which is absolutely false. Anyway they are good at reseeding the lawn they killed. Probably it is time for me to find somebody else. Thanks.

Some bermuda grass is dead, you can see bare spots at the porch/backyard. Weeds multiplied and grown taller. This is not happening before it was treated. Do not get me wrong. Your tech is good and was able to tell me more about my lawn. But I never expected outcome will be worst than it was not treated before. Please help.

Updated on 05/05/2020: I had a contract with TruGreen last year. Frankly, I don't think they made much of a difference in my lawn, but I never complained. I did not, however, renew my contract. When I got a text earlier this season that they were coming to perform lawn service, I texted back that I didn't want their service, had never renewed, and would not pay for anything they did. That happened again. In between, I went online with a service rep, who I advised to the same effect. Today, they showed up again, and I chased them away. Why can't they get the simple message that I didn't sign up for service this year and will treat any service they manage to provide while I'm away from the property and unable to chase them off as a gift?
Original Review: I bought and prepaid for a season's worth (namely four) of treatments plus lawn aeration and seeding. Apart from tire tracks across my lawn, I can't actually tell that TruGreen did anything in the two treatments they've delivered so far. Weed control: my weeds never disappeared. Grub control: the neighborhood turkeys kept visiting even after the grub treatment at the end of June. They made, and continue to make, a mess of the lawn. Upselling: the one thing TruGreen seems to be good at is upselling. That is, I kept getting calls about additional services even after I made it clear that I did not want to buy any additional services. Customer service: I sent three messages through TruGreen's customer service portal complaining about the upselling. I never got any response.
I didn't understand when I signed up (and prepaid, remember) in the Spring that the aeration and seeding service would not occur until Fall. In the meantime, I guess I'm supposed to live with the bare spots? Satisfaction guarantee: TruGreen advertises that I will be satisfied with results or my money back. Given that I can't reach customer service, how am I supposed to realize on that guarantee? I'm sorry I signed up with this well-promoted but under-delivered service.

Insect & disease control serv 6/29/19. Steve ** greeted me out in my lawn that morning. He was very kind & respectful. He was very informative about the care of my trees and shrubs. I had asked hiim about Carpenter ants. He had expressed to me they eat dead wood only and not live wood. That had been a great concern for me.
