The Samsung Smart Care VRT Plus is the absolute worst product. The washer has very loud operating cycles and the washer doesn't fill according to the size of the load so all of the clothes don't get wet/clean.
Reviewed May 17, 2025
Samsung front load doesn’t get even the smallest loads completely wet. I have resorted to adding about 20 litres of water to most loads through the soap dispenser. I don’t want to have to do 5 loads when one should do. Electricity is expensive here.

Takes forfeiting ever to do a medium load. That was when it would do a medium load, it has decided to only do extra large loads, and Samsung suggested having it repaired, starting at $300. Wife asked for an older machine with no computer, and darn if it doesn't work better.

I bought the Samsung WD80J6A00AW/EG washing machine less than three years ago and have only used it 2–3 times per week, so it hasn't been heavily used. Everything worked fine at first, but now the part holding the drum is failing completely. This is a serious issue for such a relatively new machine, especially from a supposedly reputable brand like Samsung. It’s unacceptable that such a critical component breaks down so soon. I expected more durability and reliability. Repairs are costly and not worth it for a machine this young. This experience has completely destroyed my trust in Samsung appliances — I will never buy another Samsung product again. Avoid this model at all costs.

Sub: Samsung Washer "WF45R6100AP" - Extremely disappointed - Same issue as many people already mentioned about this washer on many platforms. Counter balance weight/ mechanism broken and it sounds like a Jet engine in spin cycle or something. I have been advised to buy a new one and my question is did I pay nearly CAD $1,000 only to have a washer for three years? We have office jobs so no much load on the machine and we bought a dryer too with this with a hope that we are good for 10 years or so. This is pathetic and when I look at other comments online, this is a case of cheating, you guys kept selling a faulty product. And what's my mistake, I trusted Samsung, is it? I sincerely expect you to resolve this issue for me immediately. I can produce the purchase receipt if you need.

This is a review of my Samsung top load, model WA49B5205AW washing machine purchased October 21, 2022. I had no knowledge this model had previously been recalled by Samsung along with several other models because of a potential fire hazard. On December 8, 2024 a 9C8 error code appeared in my washer at which point it stopped working. I contacted Samsung Customer Care on December 9. After a couple of attempt to reset the washer, I was informed via our chat via text message that I would receive a 2-prong dongle free of charge within 7 business days which would clear the error. Since 12/9/24 I have contacted Samsung Customer Care every 2-3 weeks informing them that in spite of each rep's assurances that the dongle would be mailed to me, I have not received one.
I have been getting the run-around, blatantly lied to and dismissed. It is impossible to speak to a Samsung representative over the phone. Each attempt to communicate by phone has resulted in 6 text communications. Customer service is non-existent. No one has bothered to check on why I have not received the dongle which would resolve the problem with my washing machine. It's like ALL the service reps have been cloned. They all give the identical responses to my inquiries and then do nothing. Worst customer service ever. They are worth less than 1*.

This washer is the absolute worst! Electrical errors started within a month of purchase, after 4 months a horrible smell. At 6 months and after extensive cleaning large chunks of brown "goo" started destroying our clothing and is left all over clothes after every wash. No agitator means no real clean. We bought it thinking it's water saving tech would be our little way of helping conserve our most precious resource. Instead this washer tangles, stretches, and the leaves clothing feeling nasty. The Samsung Active Water jet washer should never be sold.

Three and a half years ago we purchased a Samsung WA50R5200AW top loading washing machine for about $850 in large part due to misleading Consumer Reports or J D Power ad on the machine. We thought we were buying a machine that would last for many years more than the 3 1/2 years we got. Our past two machines lasted on average 15 years before we replaced them and one of them was used when we got it. The machine shakes violently even after replacing the suspension rods and it seems Samsung has no answers. When I called Samsung and gave them my model and asked if there was a recall, the associate put me on hold while they checked and about 30 seconds later hung up on me.

Recently purchased Samsung washer & Dryer. Washer has a mind of its own, I have had door locked for 4 hours. A quick wash takes 2 hours. Set the dryer & temperature for 1 hour. 5 mins later it stops, up every 5 mins. I am not a stupid person but this set is getting the better of me. I want it returned.

Several years ago, my wife and I shopped for a new washer and dryer. She had seen ads for Samsung front loader washing machines. My wife believes what she sees in ads. We bought a Samsung front loader washer and dryer, Shortly after we bought them, the rubber boot behind the washer's door was covered with black mold. The washer was under warranty and Samsung replaced the boot with a new one which was supposedly mold proof. Shortly after the warranty expired, mold began growing on the boot again. That was about 3 years ago, Now the boot has cracked and water leaks when the washer is used. The part (boot) costs about $250. As the machine needs to be essentially completely disassembled to replace the boot, I was given a labor estimate of $300 to $400. So at the age of 74, I am shopping for a new washer and dryer. They will not be Samsung nor will the washer be a front loader.

Overall this washer didn’t last but 3...4 years. Knowing washers usually have a lifespan of 10 years… at least the old models did… Insane how much time and MONEY has been wasted with this washer. We have been wondering why our water bill is OUTRAGEOUS, and I mentioned to my husband that our washer hasn’t been running properly. So we did a diagnostic, it threw a 3C1 code so we bought a motor… The wrong one because my model number gives you a few options and we chose the wrong one… So wasted shipping cost and a restock fee to return and then purchase the correct one. Install it just to run the diagnostic again. Throwing the same code.
This motor is over 200 and we bought two without resolving the actual issue. At this point there is no point doing anything more to this washer other than trash it, returning the motors, or scrap it… and purchase a totally different brand because Samsung is a joke! This review was gonna be just about the washer but we have the freaking dryer too… You have no idea how many heating elements have been changed the purchase of this machine!!! I would highly recommend anyone and everyone not to waste their time or hard-earned money on these paperweights!!!

Bought my Samsung washer & dryer from home Depot, was suppose to be delivered on Dec 9th. Didn't get them until 17th. Then the pedestals came one at a time, one on the 20th and one on the 24th. Had them installed. Used a couple times and I had to call for repair. My washer won't finish the cycle it's on. Had to wait 2 weeks to get a repairman who says nothing is wrong with them, tells me to be only wash 3 shirts at a time. These washers can't take a full load. Omg what have I bought? And now I'm gonna have to wait for someone else to come out. So disappointed in Samsung products...

If I could give this a zero I would. I have model WA50R5200AW and it’s absolute garbage. I have 5 kids so I decided to buy something efficient. I was way off. I can literally put 3 shirts in and it will be unbalanced and need to restart. One load of laundry takes about 6 hours after multiple recalibrations and restarts. This machine should be recalled like their other ones. Save your sanity and don’t waste your money.

My new Samsung washer/dryer combo is completely unsatisfactory. The washer stinks. I have to disassemble the detergent drawer completely, separating it into 3 pieces, and dry thoroughly all pieces and inside the drawer each time the washer is used. As well, the rubber seal has to be dried very thoroughly as does the door. All of this, each time it is used. About once a month, I have to disassemble the drain pipe and the filter and clean and dry thoroughly. Also, I have to run the nearly 4-hour clean cycle about once a week and pour copious amounts of soda, vinegar, and bleach through the system. All of this cuts down on the odor but does not banish it entirely. The washer stinks. The cycles are extremely long and the last two spin cycles sound like a freight train coming through the house. The dryer is ridiculous so don't even get me started. I will NEVER EVER buy another Samsung product.

Absolutely junk. You can't get this thing to spin anything without going into a UR stop code. I will never ever buy another Samsung product again and I advise against anyone wasting any money on these things that are very expensive. I wish I had just kept my 15 year old Maytag washer. At least I could wash my clothes. This thing cost me so much time and effort. I have been going to the laundromat. As I said after trying to get some support from Samsung I will never buy another Samsung product again! I feel completely ripped off. How can this design be okay to sell.

I have had a horrific experience with the purchase of a dryer from the Samsung website recently. After being on the phone with Samsung and their installers (RXO) for numerous hours without any resolutions or follow up from either of them on my faulty Dryer installation I have decided to return the product and to never again shop with them. I wish they would understand how difficult it is to be without a functioning washer or a dryer for more than 3 weeks and provide the basic customer service that one would expect from a big organization like theirs.

Worked fine until getting close to end of warranty and it started not discharging all the water. Samsung sent a repair person 3 times. 1) Adjusted the depth of the draining hose and left. 2) Looked at test mode for 2 minutes and left telling me it was fine. 3) Ran machine through 45 seconds of a cycle twice and left saying it was fine. Every few loads there is still 6 inches of water in the bottom that stinks. Samsung calls this fine???? I need to send my kid to school in stinky clothes because they won't do anything????

I have had a Samsung 2022 Front-Load machine for only 2 years and it has already given out on me. The drum has become unbalanced after just two years of use. I am currently also fighting the machine to try and unlock the door. Even though the cycle had finished - it will not unlock the door and I have clothes inside. I’ve tried everything to open it, I am most likely going to have to pry it open and break it. For as expensive as this machine was, I expected to last 5-10 years. When it did “work” it would take multiple cycles to get something actually clean. Do not buy Samsung products, especially their washing machines.

Top load active water jet with a huge tub, but can only handle very small loads. A normal load can take over 2 hours to complete. Anything “heavy” (jeans) are almost impossible to get to spin. A load with a pair of jeans and a sweatshirt took well over 3 hours and I had to separate items to get it to spin

Avoid Samsung appliances, I purchased a refrigerator, and washer and dryer. The only one that hasn't given any issues is the dryer. The washer is the worst. A week after the warranty expired, we started having issues with loads becoming off balanced. I am tend to distribute evenly accounting for weight and water retention of items. Doesn't matter. I have to keep the load to under 3 pounds in order for it to ot go off balance. If you aren't home and it goes off balance, it takes it back to the rinse cycle, regardless of what point in the cycle it's at. Even the final spin. Samsung makes great phones and TVs, but appliances are horrible. Just an added point, I have received the same feedback from a bunch of people.

We have a Samsung dryer that has been leaking gas making the several areas of the house smell like natural gas. This was making the kids and my wife and I sick. We called the gas company and they checked our system but there was not leaks. We check the dryer with a gas meter and there was a leak. We contacted Samsung and they have been giving us the runaround. They sent a repair company which found the igniter defective and leaks gas. The techs were on the phone when doing some repairs or testing when a fire broke out in the dryer. It did small damage to our flooring and the entire dryer and laundry close smells like a dumpster fire and ashes.
We have contacted Samsung repeatedly but they have ignored us. We have been without the ability to do laundry for over a week. They are unprofessional and don’t help. We will file a complaint with the Consumer Product Safety Commission since we read online others having similar problems. We have contacted Samsung customer service but they have not been helpful.

Worst experience ever. Within 2 months had to do a warranty claim on the washer for the drum being so loose that it sounded like the washer was going to explode. Got the replacement it's just as bad. Go to do a warranty claim again considering we really love Samsung products, but nothing... no help getting it fixed just a big OUT OF WARRANTY. Very Disappointing. So I do not advise this product. Samsung phone YES! BUT SAMSUNG just will not be my first choice of household appliance.

We bought the Samsung washer and dryer in 2019. We've had to replace a heating element in the dryer and we are on our 2nd set of balancing rods on the washer and already having unbalanced load issues yet again! It's so bad I can't even wash more than 2 pair of jeans at once. I might as well take it to the dump. I know I spent near $2000 on the combo brand new. Do your research before buying any Samsung washer and dryers.

We bought a Samsung top loader 3.5 years ago and we have been having problems with the washing machine going off balance. It got to a point where we couldn’t even wash small loads. The machine would be at its final spin, go off balance and start a rinse cycle. It would do this over and over again. We called Samsung and they made us do basic resets and said they couldn’t do anything else. We read online people are drilling holes on the top of the basket to release water to help balance. We decided to give it a try before buying a new washer. So far we have done four loads of laundry and no off balance. Samsung should recall wash machines and fix this problem!!!! You shouldn’t have to drill holes to fix a washer!!!

I have had my front loading washing machine for just under two years and have had no complaints until it stopped draining about a week ago and flashed the 5C code. I acted according to the manual and checked the drain pump filter which was not the issue. I blew air through the drain pipe and it was not clogged, everything is set to regulation height and no kinks in tubes, etc. I had to manually drain the machine after each attempt and run it again to see if that solved the problem. After the third attempt I smelled a hot/burning smell from the drain pump area and shut it off and unplugged it.
I called Samsung customer service with low hopes since the 1 year manufacturer warranty had expired. The nice representative informed me that because I bought the machine in Maine, I had a 4 year warranty. I was thrilled! I needed some good news. He connected me to specialty claims and I sent in some pics of the machine via text, all went smoothly. Fast forward to me having spent over 247 minutes on the phone with at least 14 representatives. It has been nothing but smoke and mirrors and me having to repeat the same information ad nauseam. They told me the one year warranty had expired, I asked why did the first guy tell me that it was protected by a 4 year Maine warranty. They repeat that the one year warranty expired and I ask why did this guy tell me 4 years and round and round.
They closed the ticket, I googled the law and sure enough, Maine has what is known as an implied warranty of merchantability which basically protects consumers from a broken appliance that breaks down before it should reasonably do so (like within the first two years). I had to have them reopen a ticket and they just keep connecting me to different people, asking the same questions, telling me now I need to send this or that picture and now I have to wait another 24-48 hours for the next person to look at the case. One person will act like they are the savior and this won't keep happening and then the next person to call asks the same questions and tells me there is no documentation of the 11 times I have already answered these questions and they will document it, we are so sorry blah blah blah.
This is a clearly well thought out system to discourage consumers from following through with complaints and warranty issues. I have asked to speak to a supervisor every single time I speak with a representative and have been connected to a supervisor zero times. I will never buy Samsung again, if only to preserve what is left of my sanity. Just unreal.

While the overall design is great, I have a top loader washer and regular dryer, TURN OFF THE CHIMES COMPLETELY!!! No working mom who does laundry at night needs a dial that chimes every time you turn it, or buttons that chime, I am aware I am pushing buttons and I don't need a chime to wake up my whole family!! IT SERVES NO PURPOSE. Also no door chimes, do you have any idea how many women fold their laundry straight from the dryer??? TURN OFF ALL CHIMING, WE KNOW HOW TO USE APPLIANCES AND THE CHIMES DO NOTHING BUT WAKE UP FAMILY MEMBERS. Know your audience, women do laundry at night too and I get frustrated every time I use these appliances. I will not be buying again despite the quality of them, huge disappointment.

Model: WV60M9900AV/A5, purchased unit new from Costco in 2021, I believe. After approximately 4 years of use, the rear bearing went out and the only solution per Samsung is to completely replace the rear tub and spin basket. Parts cost is $805 and the labor was quoted at $815 for a total bill of $1620. While I realize that the machine had only a 1-year warranty, I can't fathom how Samsung has such little regard for their customers. I have made the decision to get a real washing machine, but haven't decided if it will be a Miele or a Speed Queen. Both of them carry 5-year warranties. From what I can see in reviews, both of these brands are built to last, obviously unlike my Samsung. Very dissatisfied with Samsung products, with the exception of my phone, which has been great for 3+ years.
