I had a big walk-in shower installed a few years back, but I missed having a bathtub. So, I decided to go with Safe Step and have the best of both worlds. Their rep was very knowledgeable, good to work with, and it was a good experience. We had looked for them first thing in the morning and noon before they got here. So, that threw them into working also the next day. But that was the only drawback we had with them. They finished 5:00 that first day. They came back the next day 11:00 and finished 6:00. It looked great after they were all done.
The tub is everything we thought it would be. We enjoy using it. It's comfortable and relaxing. I like the lights and the heated seat. All the jets work great. The tub is great. I'm just a little concerned about the service because I know it's a lifetime warranty, everything's covered, but it's a bit on the slow side. I gotta get the shower fixed because I couldn't just use the tub all the time. Sometimes all you wanna do is jump in and take a shower. We were gone for two weeks. The second day we were back, the shower leaked bad. So, we were not able to use it. I called Safe Step about it and they would get on it. I got the part in the mail, but I still haven't seen a serviceman or heard anything from them. That has been a month.

Safe Step's customer service was very nice and kind. They explained everything to me. The installation was done in one day and the crew didn't leave any dirt. We didn't have to clean up anything. Everything is very good. I take a shower in the tub and I feel good taking showers now. Also, I have neuropathy in my toes and I have trouble with my legs. The tub has a jet section system in there to help the legs and feet. I have to get in there to fill the tub up so I can get the jet system working.
Draining the tub didn't take any time. My daughter came in there for the first time with me and showed me what to push for the tub to drain the water. It was good. It might be slow going in to fill the tub up but everything went well. I'm glad I got this tub and I use it like I should. I always wanted to take a bath but I couldn't take a bath in my daughter's tub because I couldn't get out. With the jet system and the one-step tub of Safe Step, I can just sit, take a bath, and come on out.

I set up an appointment with the salesperson and they measured things. They looked at my hot water heater and said everything looks good. They promised the Safe Step tub in six weeks and a one-day installation. But the installation took three days instead of one. The installer was a gentleman and his daughter. They caused a lot of damage to my home. When they were going in and out of my front door, the tech pulled my door handle off. He said he'd fix it but he didn't. It keeps coming off. I have ordered a new one which I have yet to try to install. Also, he put his foot through the attic into the ceiling of my front area when you come in through the door. He fixed that but it's totally unacceptable.
My mother is handicapped and I already had grab bars in the bathroom. They had to take those off so they could get the Safe Step in. When they replaced the grab bars, they damaged my wall in several places. There are indentations on the wall. He installed an additional grab bar that is not secure. It wiggles back and forth. I paid for additional grab bars and he placed one of them behind the door. So, when you open the door, it's behind it, so it's useless. My mom is a tiny person so when she tries to lift her arm up for the caregiver to wash underneath her armpit, she bangs her elbows into the sides of the tub. This is a horrible situation.
Also, they had to remove the toilet in order to get the tub in. They did it while we were eating dinner, so the place smelled. I didn't find out 'til later that the tech broke the toilet paper holder as well and didn't tell me about it. That's gonna have to be replaced. Additionally, my wood floor got scratched in two places and there's a dent that broke the wood in one place while they were carrying the tub.
The techs also did not put anything down on my floor to walk in and out through. I have area rugs in several parts of my house. Several times, they walked across the carpet with soot on the bottoms of their feet. Also, when the tech was sanding the ceiling to fix the hole that he put his foot through, he did not cover any of the furniture nor move any of the rugs. So, the sanding got all over everything.
Also, my handicapped mother hates the tub. It's harder for her to get into it than stepping over her tub shower. This tub cost us $21,000 and my mother dreads going in and out of it because the door is still narrow even though she's a tiny person. She also has problems turning and sitting in the seat. The seat and the back heat up but only to the point where it's not freezing when you sit down.
After she's seated, she has to move her legs all the way to the right in order for the door to close. Otherwise, it hits her legs. When I was in there, it was the same thing. I really have to move my legs out of the way. I'm taller than my mom so, when I sit in the tub, if I wanna clean underneath my arms, I could raise my arms and my elbow over the side of the tub so my arms don't have to bang into it. The tub is not safe for my mother at all and it's a real difficulty trying to bathe her. The only other shower in my house is a narrow stand-up one and it's too narrow for anyone to help her. Plus, the tub runs out of hot water. I was very upset about that because the rep looked at my hot water heater and said it was large enough. I do not plan on purchasing a larger hot water heater for this tub. So, that's a problem. The Bluetooth capability to play music works and that's okay. The jets and chromotherapy features are nice, but definitely not worth the money.
I called SafeStep to let them know of the damages and sent them pictures. I have spoken to the person at Safe Step in charge of the service department and she said I should get estimates. I'm in the process of getting estimates but she did not say that after I get them, they would pay for the repairs.

The sales representative that I talked to was so nice. I did not feel pressured at all. He was very, very nice. He explained everything. I was surprised that the people that came out for the installation came all the way from Kentucky. They were all very friendly and professional. They put their covers on their shoes. They put a mat down so they don't track anything on the carpet. They cleaned up after themselves. The only thing I found out I had to do was test everything. They did a wonderful job. They went over everything with me, and so did the sales representative. The bath fills up no more than 15 minutes and then the draining goes easy because I have good drainage and it goes pretty quick.

The rep was very comprehensive and professional. She answered all of our questions right off and working with her was a good experience. The people who came to install were also very professional. They said they'd do the job in a day but by 4 o'clock they were done. Everybody knew what they were doing. We got a SafeStep with all the bells and whistles. It also has a shower above and a small sit-down shower which is the best feature. My wife loves it. It's a good investment. They also had a final inspection. A rep checked it out to make sure everything was okay.

I got a discount of $1,200 but the installation cost too much. The rest of the tubs are a lot cheaper. They have seats and places where you put your soap. The one I got doesn't have any place to put your soap. Other than that, they did a good job and the finished product looked nice. I like getting in the Safe Step and soaking a bit. I like the jets. But I called one time about a teeny speck of white where I can almost see through it. It didn't get really covered. I haven't had anybody come look at it. Other than that, I don't see anything wrong with the tub.

Safe Step Walk-in Tubs' rep explained everything well and I was pleased with the things he said and the fact that the tub is guaranteed. He was great. The installers came 8:00 in the morning, and by 5:30, they were gone. It looked beautiful. We just were supposed to wait one day to use it. And the day after that, I used it. It did everything that Safe Step said it would do. It looks nice, it's comfortable, and there are a lot of bubbles, which is what I needed because I have a bad back.
We got the one with the shower because I do not have a problem getting into the tub. I take showers on the days. I do walking on those days I use the tub. And when I do not, I use the shower. That's very convenient. I like the handheld shower for rinsing down at the end. Also, the volume is good because it doesn't splash out of the tub when I use it. I have not used any Tylenol for pain since I got it. I would recommend it. It's everything that Safe Step advertises.

The Safe Step walk-in tub is amazing. The more I use it, the more benefits I find that it has. My mother is enjoying it and she's 88 years old. The tub is easy to clean up and drains fast but the filling part is slow. I wish it would fill up faster.

They've got a long way to go with the installation. I'm waiting on walls for the tub and it's been a month and a half. They kinda ripped everything apart and that left me with a mess. So I'm not very pleased with it at all. We had a magnet problem and they sent me a magnet for one of the panels. But I had to put that on. Some of their caulking is not very good. I'm gonna have to recaulk it. There are a lot of issues that I would not recommend Safe Step to anyone. When I call them, I don't hear from them, and then I call back. I called this morning and one of the gals said, "Well, this other gal is gonna call you." I'd probably won't hear until tomorrow or the next day unless I call back.

The installation guys did a great job. We had a tub and then a shower next to it and they took out everything. They put the tub in. They got it where we wanted it. They built a wall behind it because I wanted to build a closet for linens, sheets and towels where the shower was. The tub works great. The only problem I have is that we did not get the shower package. The pressure in the handheld shower wand is really weak. We have plenty of water pressure, but it's regulated by the valve that only allows it to come out so hard. Everything else works fine.
The first time I used the tub, I turned the water on but it didn't get hot. So I called the service department of Safe Step and they sent somebody out that same day. The lines were switched. The tech turned on the water to the cold side and it got hot. The other thing was that the skirting around on the tub was not fastened very well to the floor. It was loose. So they called and scheduled it, and the tech came out and fixed it. In 15 minutes, he was done. I've gotten in the tub several times and put the jets on, and my back feels a lot better once I get out.

My husband and I had both been speaking about getting a walk-in tub but for several years, we just forgot the idea. Recently, I had knee surgery. I'm 77 and my husband will soon be 81. We didn't need to be climbing over the tub in our ages and both of us are beginning to have some medical problems. It would be to our advantage to try a walk-in tub at this time.
A Safe Step Walk-in Tubs representative went through the brochure with us showing all the things that the tub could do and the advantages that each step would have as we age. He asked us how we heard about the tub, how our finances were, and how we would be paying for it if we decided to get the tub. On the installation day, things didn't go as smoothly as I had wanted. We had to have additional wiring done and that brought our bill up to about $4,000 in addition to what we were paying. That should be explained that you may have to get additional wiring or increase your wattage.
Our electrician clearly said to our representative, "I want to be there the day that the tub is installed so I can pull my electrical wiring in to fit the tub." That was understood. I told Safe Step that I wanted them to coordinate it. I didn't want one without the other. It was three days exactly before the tub was to be installed. A gentleman called and said he would be the installer. I asked him if he had coordinated the pull-through of the wiring with our electrician. He said, "No, I'll be doing the electrical wiring." I just said, "I'm sorry, you will not. I paid this gentleman...If he can't come, you can't come." The man said he understood.
I didn't hear from him the next day. I decided to contact my electrician and he said, "No, I haven't heard from anybody, but I'll be glad to reach out." He did and they coordinated the timing. The electrician came and the installers for the tub came. They did a good job as far as the installation and then they did a pretty good cleanup.
The product itself is fine. But it is not worth the money. I told my husband I would have preferred updating the shower downstairs. But I do like bubble baths and the step-in tub doesn't even recommend you using a bubble bath in it. That was a downfall. Another is where the drain is because as you're showering, there's no way I can miss continuously stepping on that little thing because I move about and it messes up. It's enclosed too much. The drain in the tub is in a very inconvenient place. Another thing about Safe Step that would be additional information for elderly people is when the representative comes and before you go and get all excited about these functions and the aid that they may have as far as your particular problems are concerned, they should also tell you that your water bill may increase.
That aside, I like the air bubbles and the little things that come out as a massage. We've connected it to our music and I love just sitting in there and listening to the music. It would be good for the mood change. You just want to really relax and get the lavender smell. I like the different colors that you can do according to your mood as well. I like the purple one because I'm a lavender person. There's a also little button called micro and it's supposed to get the little milky type bubbles that are supposed to help exfoliate your skin. But I haven't seen any difference in my skin in using it. All in all, the walk-in tub is safer for me and my husband. All of the other features are an added little bonus for people who are trying to pamper in their golden years.

Safe Step's presentation was nice. And the installation went fine. The only issue is, a couple of weeks after, Henderson City came out to do an inspection of the electoral installation and it failed. The people from Safe Step were very professional and nice. The walk-in tub is a lot more than I expected to spend, but I hope, in the long run, it's going to be worth it. Installation took two days, and the installers were very good. The first day, they needed some extra equipment and had to run extra lines, then the second day that they came back, it took the entire day. The walk-in tub has been great. My granddaughter and great, great daughter love it. I've taken three baths in the walk-in tub, and I like the bubble action of it. I have double knee troubles, and it makes my knees feel better for a while. I can't get in or out a regular tub anymore, so using the walk-in tub is a lot easier for me. I enjoy it too.

A crew came in with the Safe Step tub, took it out of the back of the trailer and set it on my driveway. They proceeded to take out the existing tub I had and were very considerate of not damaging it. There were some tilework and other things built around that tub but they were able to accomplish getting the tub out of the bathroom and into my garage. It took a bit of effort. There were three of them and they worked tirelessly. They proceeded to prepare the area where the old tub was for the Safe Step tub, and they brought the tub in and started the process of putting it in place. They asked us where we wanted it, if we wanted it close to the wall or away. They had to take the door frame off of one of our doors in order to get that tub in. And they put it back. We couldn't even tell it was off. They did a great job.
They got the tub all connected after we decided exactly where we wanted it. And they proceeded to build the platform that surrounded the tub and connected to the wall. After that, it was a two-day process, because it took them a bit of time to get the old tub out. The first crew that came in was three guys. And when the supervisor of the group came back the second day, which was on a Saturday, he brought his wife with him and said that she had helped him on numerous occasions to finish the job and that she was very good with the caulking and the final touches. And she was. They finished up the job and he cleaned up everything, took out any old materials or anything that he had, and took off.
I've used the tub five times since it has been installed. I use it at least once a week. Sometimes more. I would have paid twice as much for the tub. I thought it was expensive to begin with. It's much different from what we had. It's much simpler to get into and out of. And it has made physical issues a lot more tolerable. The functioning of the tub on our body is very relaxing. I've almost gone to sleep in the thing. I also like the lighting. I like the soothing feeling of the energy of the tub when the air and the water jets are all working. I have a skin issue so I especially like that micro feature of the tub. I'm happy that we chose the larger tub.

I would not hesitate to recommend this product and this company to anyone. The installation took about four hours and they did not leave a mess for me to clean up. The quality of the product is as described and it is just beautiful.

Safe Step had the shortest step that I could find. I had the tub installed and the crew was in and out in two days. On the installation date, they didn't get here until afternoon. Nobody called and told me that they were running late. I could have gone out and gotten some things done if I had known that they were coming later than they said, which was 8 o'clock. That was annoying. And because they were so late starting, they had to come back and work until 3 o'clock the next day. That was two days gone. That was the only real complaint I had. That aside, the crew did a good job.
I am now realizing I need tile around the top of the tub because it splashes a lot. The painted walls are not going to work. I have to get somebody in to do that. overall, the tub works great. It makes it easier to get my son in there and get his hair washed. That is the biggest thing. Also, I like that the tub is new. It makes the rest look old, so now I've got to get somebody in to do the rest of the bathroom. I also like the microbubbles on the feet the best. I feel good. The tub is slow getting filled up but I can take my whole shower and wash off before I get it full. I would suggest this tub to other people.

The sales rep went over the different features of the tub over a laptop, and the installers were nice and helpful. For the most part, my mom is self-sufficient and I watch her use the walk-in tub a lot. She likes the jets. However, her long-term care people said that the tub is very pricey. I should have gotten three estimates, but when you're dealing with someone that wants something done and they're putting up a fight, you’re forced.

The rep was knowledgeable about the Safe Step walk-in tub and what it offered. We got a clear understanding of the benefits of it. He was very beneficial in explaining how the walk-in tub works and what the benefits would be for my legs. I asked some questions as well, and he was able to answer. So, the interaction was good. I was at work and by the time I got home, the installers were finishing up and cleaning. My dad let them in and do what they do. But they also showed him how the tub worked before I got home. And then, they showed me. The highlight for me would be sitting down and being able to use the handheld shower because I'm not able to use anything else.
The installers cleaned up. But when I used the bathroom today, our toilet moved. It's not secured and caulked around the bottom the way it was before they took it up. So, the whole toilet turned sideways. My dad will probably have somebody come out here and fix it or caulk it and put it back in place. But other than that, the installers seemed to be okay. We got the top-of-the-line tub. There were three different ones and we got the most expensive. I'm not the one paying for it but it was pricey.

I considered American Standard and Safe Step, but American Standard wouldn't come down on their price. They said they'd have to put in a new electrical box at my garage. That was gonna cost me more money, so I decided to go with Safe Step. I had the lady out here twice. She came once and stayed a good while, but I had a lot of other estimates from different places too. I still hadn't made up my mind, but I called her back again. She came back from Corbin, Kentucky where she was giving an estimate to somebody there. She got her boss lady on the phone, and she talked to me for a bit. They're expensive, but we agreed upon the price, so we went ahead with it.
I had to wait about six weeks for Safe Step to put the tub in, and I'd rather not have to wait that long, but installation went smooth. They did it in a day's time and finished most of it. The guy came back the next morning and finished the clean-up and the caulking. They did a great job, and I haven't had any trouble since they installed it. I'm afraid of falling ‘cause I fell several times, and I like the tub for the safety of it. I also like the jets and the warm water of the tub. I take a bath and a shower more than I used to.

I bought a Safe Step Tub for $25,000.00 and they told me it was guaranteed for life. They neglected to tell me that for life meant 2 years. I called the Nashville factory and was told if I wanted someone to come out it would be $200.00 per hour. With the first hour is when they cross my threshold. The woman I talked with was rude, crude and simply not into company promises. So I reported them to the BBB and that resulted in them calling me every hour on the hour to come out to my home. Installing the walk-in tub took a whole day. There were four installers from Safe Step, and they put down things on the floor so that they wouldn't be tracking in and out. They did a lot of stuff outside, getting the stuff ready, then brought it inside. I had one of these tubs that went all the way up to the dome in the ceiling, great big pieces, and they sawed that into a lot of different pieces so that they could get it out of there. They put something else in there so that they could bring in the walk-in tub. They did a good job and it's beautiful, but it's big in my little bathroom.
The tub is really nice, but I'm still getting used to it. If you have very little space when you step in, you might as well sit down. If you don't sit down, you're taking a shower in a very little space for your feet. Also, the spigot that turns on the water goes one way and it turns the water in the tub. If I push it too far the other way, I get all these shower things spraying down on me. It's just something people have to get used to.
I had a neighbor say, "Well, I wouldn't take a tub bath because it's like sitting in your own stew." I said, "No, you just have to have a plan and you have to know how to use it." I have a plan when I get in it, but I was always a tub-bath person. My mom taught me that you turn on the water, get in when it's just right, and leave it running in there. That's when you wash your face, wet your hair, get your hair washed and rinsed, then you sit in there and soak and clean the rest of your body.

But because of those jets, the whirlpool for my lower back was a pleasant surprise. The only thing that stuck out was having to fill it while I sit inside. But it wasn't that bothersome. I liked the lifetime warranty where everything should be taken care of, where Safe Step would come and take care of it if we had problems compared to some of the other brands. Also, the rep was very knowledgeable. And the installers knew what they were doing. They came in and got it done, cleaned up their mess, explained everything, showed us how everything worked. So, we were pleased with how they put up the wall that needed to be put up to run the plumbing up and the wiring.
We love the micro where we could tell that it does clean our pores out, make us feel cleaner and our skin softer. And being able to take a shower or sit and soak, because we've got the shower feature as well. And whenever it's time to release the water, it drains quick. And it looks like it would be easy to keep clean. The only thing that we regret is the in swing of the door, it wasn't explained that they could get the door to swing out to make it easier to get in and clean. Whenever we push the door in, it's hard to clean the walls behind it, unless we get in and close the door and clean the walls off, even though we can just spray it down and hose it off because it's the surface of the thing.
The panels where you can access the fittings, the little narrow panel, looks like that could be done a bit better. Because we could tell it doesn't fit good and tight if we rubbed up against it and hit that panel and release the magnet. The tub is a bit pricier for what we're getting, just being a tub. But we're pleased with it. If Jacuzzi and Kohler could do them for a quarter of the cost of these, Safe Step probably needs to look at what they could do to still provide a quality product like they are. But not the expense that they charge. We’ve been talking to some people. We almost wish we went with the Jacuzzi or Kohler brand and had somebody help me put it in myself and save $15,000, where if we had to replace it in 10 years, we could just replace it again ourselves. But we'll see as time goes on and it's used more, if it would hold up like they say they would.

The rep answered all my questions and it was a good experience when he contacted me. The installation was done ahead of time. The guys were knowledgeable. They came on time and was done before 5:00. I was amazed. Shortly after that, I noticed that some of the caulking was a problem. It hadn't adhered. So, I called the company and the representatives were nice and friendly. I was gonna get a callback but that never happened. When I suggested that they just send me a tube of the caulk and I'll just do it myself, they were right here. Later, I noticed that there was water on the floor in the area of the tub and I called Safe Step back and they managed to get somebody out within two days. The guy was very thorough. He took care of the caulking as well as informed me that there was not a leak.
The Safe Step walk-in tub speaks for itself. I love the showerhead and I use it a lot. I have arthritis and the jets at the back are very helpful. I get out of there and don't feel the arthritis pain. Also, I have foot pain and the jets at the bottom of the tub are very helpful with that. I get out of the tub and I don't hurt. The other thing that I noticed is I do not have the fear of falling backward out of the tub that I had in a regular tub. So, the tub itself has been a very positive experience. I've already had several of my neighbors come in and consider it, but the price is prohibitive.

I didn't think at first I would like the idea of sitting there while it's filling. But it fills up pretty fast, and the same thing with draining it. I got the overhead shower and the handheld shower with it. While it's draining, I rinse off with the shower. It drains quickly, so I'm not just sitting there waiting for it to drain. I have a very hard job and it really helps my body to relax after I get off work.

We had a tub put in by Jacuzzi, and it was horrible. We couldn't use it. We couldn't reach the controls, so then we went researching and found Safe Step in a few advertisements. Their rep was phenomenal. He understood why we were getting rid of the other tub and they're $25,000 a piece, so you don't get rid of them easily. It was only two weeks old. He went ahead and measured my arm's length. He looked in his specs and he knew that we'd be able to reach it. Then on top of that, before they installed it, he had them bring the tub here and had us physically sit on it and reach for the handles. Who brings a tub in and lets you sit in it and see if you can reach it before they install it? If we couldn't, they said they would just take it out and there would be no charge. The rep went above and beyond what anybody else was offering to do.
The team that did the installation was one in a million. With the previous company that came to install, my entire house had dust all over it. It was left filthy. They broke the molding and the wall. They fixed nothing and charged me the same amount. When these guys from Safe Step left, the house looked the same as before they came in the door. It was immaculate when they left. Time-wise, the installation took less than a day. As far as the tub, everything is reachable. It's amazing. You can play your music in the tub. It’s one in a million. It’s so much better than the other one. They really went above and beyond. Also, compared to the others, Safe Step is less expensive.

But I didn't like the water all over the floor. I got a leak on the spray part and it keeps leaking. I ended up not noticing that and I opened the door, and water went all over the floor. I called a couple of days ago about getting it repaired.
They gave me a sprayer. When it was advertised on TV, they said you get the package deal with the shower on top and the sprayer. They never gave me a shower on top. I said, “That doesn't matter. I don't really need it.” But I was supposed to get it and I didn't get it. Other than that, it's a nice tub. Everybody seemed to like it. And the people that put it in was excellent. But I can't use the jets the way I want them to press on my feet. I’d like to use it but I gotta wait until I get this afib done. If I feel afib kicking in, I get stuff, and it's uncomfortable to be in there. I feel unsafe because it's full of water and I can't get out. So, I only go in there if I know I'm good for the day. It's gonna be nice when I can use it. All the jets feel great. I had a good experience with it. I'm very happy with it. It’s just the stuff with the leak. And the tech can fix that part fast. When the installation was found to be defective after a week, the problem of aesthetics was ignored. We think the buckling of the facia degrades the appearance of the house. Later a tub-hose sprung a leak and caused a flood. The response time was slow. It took 3 days before we could bath. The flooding issue was not addressed, and hopefully there will be no damage to the house. Only time will tell. Then the drain cable seized, which we are trying to deal with. There is supposed to be a lifetime warranty, but no service response, yet, after 3 days. When you have a tub installed in your house and it doesn't allow you to bath and you are insulted by false promises of repair times and unanswered calls, it's just not worth $23,000...

Safe Step seemed like they had the best tub. They came out and demonstrated their product. They showed me how their product was made and what it was made out of, and it seemed like to me it was a better tub than the other guy. The other guy threw me off when he said his tub is what they put on submarines. I didn't believe that. I didn't think they would be able to afford to make a tub out of stuff like they use on a submarine. The only feedback with Safe Step is the salesman didn't want to talk to us after he got out. It seemed like after he got the tub sold, he didn't want to have anything to do with us. They didn't give me a number to call if something went wrong with the tub. I had to figure that out for myself.
When we first got the tub, it wouldn't drain right and I had my wife stuck in there. We were trying to drain the water out. They sent a guy and he fixed it. It's draining perfectly now. The other day, the knob came off the door. Their guy came out, and he put it back on. He said I shouldn't have any more problems with it. I didn't expect the drain not to work when I first got it, and I didn't expect the door handle to come off of it. The guy that fixed it said the guys that installed it didn't do the drainage the same way they're screwing the drainage. They didn't put some kind of light grease they're supposed to put on there to hold them. So far, the tub does not have a leakage at the door. Overall, I'm well-satisfied with it. I like the jet thing. My wife's been using the tub a lot. She seemed to be happy with it. She thinks that the door should have been a little bit wider than it is. It seems that the quality, the material, and the stuff it was made out of are solid.

I've been trying for three weeks to get somebody to come out and look at my Safe Step tub because I got water running all over the floor. I've never been able to get anybody to do that. I made 12 calls before somebody got somebody to call me back. It took about five weeks to get somebody to come out and look at this tub, which is unacceptable.
The problem with the tub is the front end of it. The door wall is lower than the back wall. I put a level on it and it's about a quarter of an inch lower on the front end than it is on the back end. Any water that gets splashed up in there runs across the shelf, down the front of the door onto the floor. I usually take a shower in this in the morning and I have to put a towel all the way across the shelf to soak up the water so that it won't run down the front of the tub onto the floor. I called the guy that Safe Step has that's supposed to fix this. I told him the tub is not leveled and he said that can be fixed. That was three weeks ago. He said, "I can do this next week sometime, and I'll call you and let you know when I'm gonna come out."

I would get it as hot as I could stand it. When I get rid of the hard bubbling thing, it would take 20 minutes to get those first two. And I would go into tiny bubbles, I would have to open that curtain, and I've got a fan there that blows in there, because it is hot. It's like a steam bath. It's refreshing in a lot of ways. The first time I used it, I had the best sleep I've had in a long time. And ever since, when I get out, it's the best sleep I have. I've recommended the tub to anybody. The jets and how they lined up around the back are my favorite features. The walk-in tub seems to be a nice unit. We're still experimenting with it. We've only used it a couple of times but Nancy hadn't been able to get in and be submerged because of the knee surgery she had last week. But we're doing that when she gets her bandage dissolved. I've already had two major leaks and it was due to the handle on the door. I would have rather it been a little bit longer and a little more shallow. The Safe Step rep was a liar. She should have come out and told me that I needed a tankless or a continuous tank of hot water installed before I could proceed with this procedure. Because the water tank I have, which is brand-new, only holds 40 gallons of hot water, and the tub is 100 gallons. So, I didn't have a big enough hot water heater to supply the tank to enjoy the tub.
I have not been able to get an electrical person out here to check the circuit breaker to see if I have enough power. 'Cause if I don't have enough power to power a tankless continuous water heater, then I have to install some breakers in my house. And because I live out in the boondocks, I can't get anybody to answer my call as to buying me one, coming out and installing it so I can use my tub. I've had my tub for almost a month, I used it one time and it didn't fill up, but just a quarter of the way and the water turned ice cold. I have not been able to use it since and I spent 25 grand for the tub.
I expected to be able to use this tub every single day. The salesperson said it was gonna take a month to build the tub. During that month, I could have checked into the electrical and the plumbing. I could have had all of my ducks in a row so that when the tub would get installed, I could enjoy it immediately. Now, I’m trying to scuttle. I’m having nothing but problems. I’m totally dissatisfied. The tub looks nice. But there were parts missing that they had to order and get sent to me, and they said they would send me the part the next day. But I didn't get it for a week, which didn't matter because I couldn't use the tub anyway.

I needed a step-in. I called Safe Step and they sent me this representative here and he talked and talked out here. I've not been able to use the tub though. There is something that was not hooked up right when the installers put the tub in. They wouldn't let us watch them. They kept the blind and the door closed and said they didn't want us to bother them. It made them nervous. My son said he didn't see anything wrong why he couldn't, but he was sitting there in the living room which went straight through to the bath and they shut the door where he couldn't see them. Before they set the tub, they had to put a plywood down.
Now, somewhere beside of the tub and my vanity there, there's a hole. I had carpet in the bathroom, which I shouldn't, but I did and I never had trouble with it. My son said “Mom, a snake can come up in there. You can see right beside that tub. You can look down there and see down in under there.” He raised the side of my carpet up. You can see to the ground. It scared me to death. Also, there's a leak under there and they're not finding it. I've got plumbers here. They told me I'd had to dig a hole because the underneath was too close, and they couldn't get in under there to get up to it where they need to be. So, I had to hire a guy to bring his digger and come back here at the back of my house, going through the bathtub. He dug a hole back there big enough for them to go in under my house.
The guy went all the way under there and he look. He said, “There's water. There's water coming down where they hooked that up, somewhere up there. They've not got that hooked up right, some way or another.” They got up there to try to hook it up. It is hooked up, but there's water some way or another. The plumber called, Scott, the guy that put it in. He talked to him for a minute. The plumber told him what they had found and started asking a few questions. And when he did, Scott told him he didn't have time. He was rude, and hung up on him. My son called Safe Step's customer service and he showed them pictures of it. They had to have a piece of paneling, and they went up to Ace's Hardware and brought in a piece of plywood and put it in there.

With the Safe Step, the only thing I do is help him get in it and lock the door. He can bathe himself. He enjoys it because he plays his music or listens to a sermon while sitting there.

Customer service was great and I was well-informed. Our new tub is serving its purpose and I really like it. But I'm an older gentleman and I'm still not sure how to turn the hand shower on and off. Other than that, the foot therapy bubbles have been my favorite feature. I recommend SafeStep.

The sales rep answered all my questions and showed me where the product was made, and that it has a lifetime warranty on it. He had to measure it and make sure it fits. 'Cause he said they had to make it. The rep explained that it was gonna come in, and if they had to remove stuff, they'd remove it, and they would replace it just like they found it. The whole process took four hours. I love the tub. It has a showerhead. It's working perfectly so far.

The gentleman who came over was very personable and nice. He was not pushy in any way. I said no to his proposal and my husband said yes. And he never says yes to anything like that. So, we got the walk-in tub. The installers were here ahead of time. Four men were working with the gentleman who ran the crew. They were great and knew exactly what they were doing. They came in, took out the old tub, put the new one in and walked us through what we're supposed to do. I was sitting in a chair and the gentleman who was running the crew got down on his knees and showed me the pictures and went through everything to me. So, I didn't have to get up. We expected eight hours and they were out of here in five. The quality was good. The paint was knocked up a bit in the bathroom but we have extra paint downstairs. We can just touch it up.
My husband and I each had the first bath that we've had in two years. We just lived with showers all this time because neither of us could get out of the tub. The features are hard to get used to, but we're hanging in there. I did not lock the door when I took my very first bath. My husband came in just to see how I was doing and he asked why there was water all over the floor. I said I don't know. We just got some wet towels and rugs. It was certainly my fault. Fred, my husband, called the salesman and he asked how we liked the tub. Fred told him we're doing well other than I flooded the bathtub. He said we were learning the hard way. My husband and I are not overweight. But if you are overweight, it would be very difficult to get in the tub. It's small and very squeezy for a big person. The jets are great but it's noisy. I got my tape in here and I'm gonna take a bubble bath and listen, and I could not hear my tape.

The installers knocked part of my Sheetrock off up where the shower rod was. I also had yellow and white dust over my entire bathroom and they didn't clean up anything. Safe Step lied to me too. They said they'd put a shelf in here, but there's none. They also told me the water wouldn't run that fast enough and they told me to call a plumber. I called the plumber and the plumber said there was nothing wrong with the line. They told me I had to have it in writing before they'd come out here and see about it, and I just forgot about it. We are totally disgusted.
I hate the walk-in tub. It's not what Safe Step said and it costs too much. They charged me $18,173 and it ain't worth it. My friends and relatives came out here and looked at it, and I got negative comments. I wished I had never heard of Safe Step. I wouldn't recommend anybody to do business with them, and I hope that they never get to put another tub in. I'd like to talk to the CEO face-to-face.

The seller we had is a really nice, friendly guy, and he's really enthused about his job. Installation went smooth as silk, and it was done in one day. The price is steep, and I see a few things on the tub I don't like, like I have to squeeze up against a chair inside to get the door shut. We're also having trouble with the selection buttons. Half the time, they don't want to work and I was gonna call in about it, but I haven't had the time. Besides that, the tub itself is great. It's really soothing and I can just lift up my arms and legs and I'm floating. It's a good product and I'd recommend it.

I like the design of the Safe Step tub. It looks more attractive. The young man who sold us was Brian. He did an excellent job. He was very knowledgeable of what was going on and answered all of our questions to our benefit. We got the walk-in tub combo with the shower package. They said they could do it in a day. They were here around the time they said they would be here and were gone by 4:00 o'clock. Our house is 45 years old, and we had a cast iron tub. They tore that out and I was impressed that they did a beautiful job. We have already recommended Safe Step to several friends. In fact, we're known around the neighborhood as, "Come up to the **'s and bring your towel and $5. They'll make you take your bath."

The presentation was very detailed. The young fellow was there several hours and he explained everything to me. But we had some little setbacks. They sent the wrong tub because of the opening, the hook-ups, etc. They had to go back and get it. When the installer opened the drain thing, part of it was broken. He had to come back the next morning. Other than that, everything was good. They showed me how everything worked very thoroughly. The Safe Step tub is doing what I thought it would do. The neuropathy doesn't go away, but it feels a little better in the warm water. When I get a pedicure, I tell them that the polish is just extra because I just go for the foot rub in the bath. I can barely hear the voice that's announcing something though.

The Safe Step rep was nice, very respectful and informative. The installation team came out and hooked it up in one day. They didn't waste any time. They got right in there and got to work. I can't wait to get the thing so I can play my music in there. But I don't have that capability yet because of where I live. The only thing I couldn't figure out was how to get the water back out of here. I didn't know that there was a thing you can open and shut so when you are in the shower, you can leave it open and still take a shower. We like it. I don't like to spend that kind of money on anything but the wife needed it. It's something she could get in and out of easily. I feel safer now. I don't have to worry about her falling.

There are so many gadgets on my Safe Step walk-in tub and I'm still trying to learn how to use it. The tub wasn't in when their sales rep came and explained things about it. So, I wasn't actually looking at the tub. Then, when the guy came and installed everything, that was fast too. I'm slow on the uptake and it's hard to comprehend stuff when it goes so fast. But I've been able to use the tub. It's just that I have to do trial and error. One of the things the guy emphasized was to make sure that the door was closed and I thought I had when I used it the first time. But it wasn't until after I was stepping out the tub that I noticed that the door wasn't closed tight enough and I had flood on the floor.

I was out of town working during the installation, but they seemed to have done a good job and it was a same-day service. Everything went fine, and my wife likes everything about the Safe Step tub. I tried it out once, and it was all right. The water starts getting cooled down the closer it gets to fill the tub. We definitely need to get a hot water tank. I didn't comprehend that part. The rep and I talked about hot water tanks, but I didn't visualize that whole water heater in there. I have a water heater, but we're looking at 80 gallons of water versus a 40-gallon water heater, so I gotta get a new one.

When we had the Safe Step representative come here, he was very good and thorough in the knowledge of every part of it. My husband likes the jets, the fact that he can sit there and get his back more massaged. It also has a bidet. But we have two problems. One, the remote did not jive. I had to call them. They told me what to do in the electrical circuit box. Two, we had originally opted for this glass closure. When it came in the box, how huge it was and heavy, we decided we'd rather not have that. We’d just use the shower curtain. The fellow told us at that time that if I called and told Safe Step that we opted not to use it, somebody would come and pick it up. That's been over a month, but it's still sitting in a box in the hall, taking up all kinds of rooms. Somebody was supposed to call me back last Friday but they didn't do it.
Somebody said if they came and picked it up, they would give me a refund of $700. But another problem I've had with Safe Step is calling them and having different people call me back and saying something was gonna happen that didn't. They've not been helpful about things after the tub was installed and paid for.

That was the 10th of May and I've been without a bathroom door all this time. I am not pleased at all. I talked to Chris, the installer, and they had forgotten to bring a door with them. Nobody had a 28-inch right-hand swing door pre-hung anywhere around. I called Safe Step on May 22nd and I didn't hear from anyone from Safe Step until Chris called me two days ago.
They knocked $350 off of my contract to compensate me for the door. But my issue is I don't have a pickup and I don't have a way to pick up the door frame. I called the contractor to see if he could put it in and the $350 will not do it. That's not enough money. $475 is the cheapest quote I've had to put in a door. They've tried to talk me into putting in a six-panel door but all my doors are solid doors so I don't want it. This is not the experience I expected. There are some little hiccups here and there that have got to be fixed, as well. Chris is gonna come back and replace the seat heater, which doesn't work. Also, the drain pops out. When I kick it over to lock it down, it pops back out and it starts draining. And I can't find anywhere that tells me how the aromatherapy thing works.

We liked all of the facts since I've got arthritis that they were working with the Arthritis Association to make sure that it is the best for somebody with arthritis.
The installation went very smoothly. The guy left kind of late in the night since we had to take out a wall to get the tub into the bathroom, and then they put back the wall very well. They had to establish a sub-flooring for the tub so it wouldn't fall through the house, and they did that well. He tested the tub. He showed us how everything worked. It was mostly one young kid on his own and he did a fantastic job. We really appreciated it so much that since he was a young kid who likes things like beard neons and we had a couple in the house, we gave him both of them since we didn't want them anymore as a tip. I love everything about the tub as far as my needs. I would recommend it for anybody. Safe Step Walk-in Tubs's rep was a very good salesman, but he lied to me a couple of times, and I didn’t find out until later. He wanted to widen my bathroom door so I could get my wheelchair right up to the tub. And when the guys came to install, they measured and re-measured, and said, “You're not gonna be able to get your wheelchair in there, but we're gonna widen the door just to get the tub in.” That would have stopped me from even buying it right then and there. But I went ahead and went through with it, and they ended up tearing my cement floor.
On the hall side of the door, I have to repaint my whole hallway because of what they did. My floor, on the cement, they came back and put some cement in those places, but they cut my carpet away from those areas, and I have to replace the carpet right there. If the door had been put in right, they wouldn't have torn that much of my carpet and that cement floor. I didn't realize I would have to remodel the whole bathroom and my hallway. That gets expensive.
When they were installing the tub, the installers kept getting inside the tub with their shoes on. There are places in there I don't know how to get it clean. I don't know what they had on the bottom of their shoes, but I've tried everything, vinegar and all, without using something harsh. And it would be nice to have a clean-looking floor in that thing.

The installer and his little helper showed up at 10:00. He didn't introduce himself to me. But I just let them go at it. I let my son-in-law know to keep dogs in the room because I knew they were going to be in and out. The installation went fairly well. Then he explained and went over the use of the tub, which I'm still learning. There's a lot to take in. There are too many bells and whistles, but I'll get to know them eventually.
When the installers came, we had to take a car out of the driveway so they could back their stuff in to get into the garage. After they left, my daughter told me, "They left the garage door up and the kitchen door open." Good thing she noticed it because we got two little Boston Terriers. One of them would be hell to catch had she gotten out of that garage. Also, we still have flies because they left the doors open. It was horrible. There were flies in the kitchen, dining room and living room. That pissed me off.
When I got in the tub, I couldn't get the jets to turn on. I called Safe Step and told them I was having a problem. Then the installer called me and I told him the problem. I was told that if I use my cards, they were gonna charge me 3% or 8% to put it on my card. So, I said, “Okay. I’ll pay.” I also paid cash with the other tub. The first guy that did all the installation did it so fast because he was working alone. He didn't have anybody to help him. So he was simply trying to get everything done as fast as he could. He had to tear into the door and take the frame out. The same thing happened to the other one. But they never fix it up for me. Safe Step finally sent somebody to come and fix it.
I was gonna have to wait for them to come and finish it up. So, I called them up, and I spoke to a person. I said, “Just give me $200 to buy the paint and all the things that I need in order to finish it.” So, they did. They sent me $200 to finish up the job. But that was not the professionalism that Safe Step expounded on TV. I've had two dealings with them now, so I can truthfully say that neither time did the guys act professionally.
The tub itself will work, and it is good. But I don't even know whether I was charged the right price. We paid 14,000 for the first tub. For the second one, the rep started out at 20,000 but I dropped it down to 18,000. But that's not nice either. The sales rep was a good guy. He knew a lot about the product. It took 12 hours to complete the installation. It didn't work according to the specifications of the drawings. They tried to do a skip job on it. I had to call Joe and he got it resolved. My agreement was it was supposed to be a full enclosure. They were gonna take out one shower and put it in a new area, and then they were supposed to cover the wall away from wall-to-wall on the ceiling and wall-to-wall on the back wall and on the side. But the installer thought he was gonna come in and cut into my fiberglass back panel and just stop the whole thing at half. They wanted to just go 47 inches instead of almost the length that they had to go. But that wasn't what the agreement was. It was in writing. Everybody knew about it. The guys that were doing it even had the paperwork on it. But they tried to get away with doing that.
I ended up having to call Joe and he represented me and Safe Tub and he got the thing fixed and got it taken care of. They ended up working the whole day. I had to spend 12 hours over at my shop with my wife, and we're both disabled. We had to take care of that and spend our time over there because we couldn't do it in the house with all the construction going on. It's only an 800-square feet house. It wasn't a pleasant experience getting installed, but I love the tub.
The contractor did a great job. They met the specifications which I and the representative agreed upon. So I was happy and I'm happy with it now. It's like a personal hot tub with all the jets and you can drain it. We like it. But it was a lot of money. So you got to make sure you're getting what you agree on in writing with your representative and your people have to stand up for it. Also, Safe Step should tell customers that they need an on-demand gas hot water heater. I ended up having to spend another bundle on a heater so I could heat enough water to fill it. I assumed that I could have filled it with a 40-gallon hot water heater, but it didn't work. I failed on the very first try. But the tub does exactly what we expected it to do.

I bought a Safe Step tub and it took me two months to get it because they said they had a permitting problem. The inspector came for the final inspection and apparently, there was paperwork missing. The paperwork was the initial permit had never been drawn. So he was upset about that. After the sale was complete, the rep pulled out a flyer that said the tub requires a 50-gallon water tank. He knew I only have a 30 and he had me waived that. The big problem is that nobody works here. Every single phone call has been from somewhere else. I'll send somebody who's 100 miles away.
When the inspector was here, the tub would not fill with water. I got into the tub a few days later and I got it to fill with water. But when I turned the jets on, the thing in the back which is for a scent of some sort went blowing out of the back, hitting the ceiling. It was an explosive thing. My cat still won't walk in that room. I tried 20 times to get that thing to attach. It seems like it's attached, but if you just lift it up, it lifts up. I only have hot water up to my knees. They said in the contract they would turn up the water heater, but they refused to do so.
The worst problem is they've messed up my circuit breaker box, and my disposal and my dishwasher will not stop running. Even when you turn the circuit breaker off for them, they still run. So they've somehow connected those into their wiring. I've had one phone call from Linda and she returned my call even though this has been going on for four months. It should have never been sold to me in the first place. But I can't put my old bathtub back. The worst part is I'm 80 years old and disabled. But they want me to crawl into my crawl space underneath my stairs and adjust my water heater myself. I would do that except I wouldn't be able to stand up again. There's nobody here to help me get back up. They also want me to do the electrical box. But my brother was blown up by an electrical box and he died. I have the trauma of that to begin with, let alone playing around with the electricity.

I gave some contact information to Safe Step online, and within 24 hours, I had somebody on the phone wanting to make an appointment for the sales rep. Then he was here in three days time. So it was a fairly quick response. For the installation, I had been told a window for arrival would be 8:00 AM to 10:00. So contrary to my usual practice, I was up and dressed by 8:00 but nothing happened. At some point, one of the installers called and said, "We're just now headed out." Originally, we were scheduled for Monday but I had received a call that there was sickness among the installers. Then it was scheduled for Saturday at Memorial Day weekend. I was surprised they were going to do it on Memorial Day weekend. But I was told by the person on the phone that they wanted to stay as close to their install schedule if possible.
