I used McCarthy Services for the first time in the summer of 2016. My air conditioning unit in Washington, D.C. had gone kaput and I asked some people in my rotary club, "Who do you guys recommend for air conditioning?" One of my colleagues could not stop saying great things about McCarthy. So we used them for our brand-new air conditioning unit in D.C. in 2016, but then when I wanted to get the annual maintenance package, by the time I was ready to sign up for that, they weren't servicing D.C. anymore because D.C. is like that. Now, I live in Virginia. When we needed an air conditioning inspection, I said, "Oh, my gosh, I'm so excited. We get to use McCarthy again." We have the annual inspection now.

My furnace had been on the decline for a couple of years, and the AC unit was having blower issues. They were purchased at different times, and it was best to replace both of them instead of doing it piecemeal again. I decided to do it since I was going to use my tax refund to purchase it. The in-person visit from McCarthy Services was exceptional. The representative was very clear in explaining their services. He showed me the various options to choose from, and I wasn't pressured at all to make a decision that day. They emailed me the estimate, and I contacted two other companies to compare.

The air conditioning wasn't working on one of my rental units. The young man came out quickly and he was very friendly. But he gave me bad news that there wasn't anything he could do and that I needed to replace the system. I asked for a quote, which he could not do. I paid the service fee because he had gone out there quickly. One of the salesmen went out later to get me a quote, but they didn't send it to me right away. I had to keep calling them over and over before I got it. Also, the office couldn't send it to me, for some reason. It had to be sent directly from the salesman. Finally got it, but it was more than double what another contractor had quoted. So, I went with the other contractor. But I didn't have any problems with McCarthy in terms getting someone out there right away. That was great. It's just unfortunate. If it had been something he could repair, I'm sure the tech would have done it, but it just wasn't. Overall, it was a pleasant experience.

We've been with McCarthy Services for a couple of years and it has been very good. The guys were courteous. They cleaned up. They troubleshot everything well. We had them out to replace a hot water heater and that went well. But they didn't get the plumbing right. They had to come back and fix it. They replaced the HVAC system here and that's performed very well and they did it pretty promptly. The only issue with the system is if there's a power outage, the air conditioner stops working properly. You have to turn the system off. We had a problem with that for a couple of days. But the guy came out and explained that it was under warranty. That's a problem with the air conditioning unit itself, not with their installation.

In terms of the unit that McCarthy gave the estimate on, I thought that that brand was more recognizable than than the other one, even though it was at a lower price.

I hoped for a replacement of my HVAC system. My dealing with McCarthy Services was perfectly fine. The only problem is I didn't use them. Someone gave me a better price. It was just a matter of expense. That's the only reason I didn't go with McCarthy.

I picked McCarthy Services out of the Google lineup and called them, and they did the job, and they did good work. They got it done very quickly, within a day.

McCarthy Services has been doing fine. I had a clogged condensation drip from the HVAC. It's that little tube that needed to be cleaned. The technician he was good. He knew exactly what the issue was, gave me the exact resolution to prevent it for the future, and didn't try to upsell me on stupidity.

McCarthy had a kiosk at Home Depot and a special offer of 0% interest for an HVAC replacement. So, I signed up with them. They did a total replacement for me but they messed up the loan. So I ended up getting 3.99% interest rate and had to spend a few months getting that sorted. But they eventually got it sorted with my staying on them. Also, they were kind and quick. I referred my grandmother to them because her unit stopped working. She had hers replaced and they were very kind to her too. But they overcharged her and I'm still waiting for a call from them regarding her credit. So while they do good work, their office leaves a bit to be desired as there are still issues pending and I can't get them resolved. And it's been a month now.

The problem was that I had a diagnosis that was misdiagnosed by McCarthy Services, and I had to call another company to get it properly diagnosed and resolved. They said that the transformer was bad, when really, it was a small short in some wiring that had to be replaced. The transformer was fine. Their service was good, though.

I had a Freon leak and I decided to use McCarthy Services because of the number of stars they were recommended with on Angie's List. My experience in dealing with the reps was positive. They were curious about what the problem was and helped me understand how to solve it. The first technician stood out to me. He was knowledgeable, looked at the system, explained the problem, and gave me obvious solutions I could take to fix it. But I decided not to go through all the work it would take to repair the old unit and I got a new one instead. Everything seems to be going well, and everything is fine. Overall, I had good, fast service and would recommend McCarthy Services.

After the compressor was installed, there was no air coming through it. I called McCarthy Services and told them about the problem, and the guy who put it in came back the next day and fixed it. They were able to take care of it right away when he came. He was a very nice guy and told me some things about my air conditioner that I may need to have done in the future, so I was thankful for that.

I've had nothing but good experiences with McCarthy Services. I've had them come out a couple of times to do some service and recently, I used them for the air conditioning system which they replaced for me. Communicating with them was easy and I liked their professionalism. They get 5 stars from me.

I just bought a house and the air conditioning was not working. I got a full replacement and a water heater through McCarthy Services. I saw their ad on social media. I first signed up just for service and their guy came out and said that it wasn't any good so it looked like I needed a new system. The technician showed us a picture that said, "What have you all been doing to this system?" Even though when they replaced it the next day, I asked to see the old system and it did not match the picture that he showed me. I told him, "You've already diagnosed it. You've only looked at it five minutes." He said, "Just 30 years of experience."

I've been with McCarthy for a long time. They've always been fair and knowledgeable and that's what I look for. They do good quality work and they're always engaging. In most cases, the services were done and they were perfect. In one case, with the garbage disposal, I had to have them come back twice, but it was not because of defective work. It was because of a washer that was laden and it took a while to figure it out, but they did. McCarthy Services has been competent and helpful. They're convenient, available and they get the job right the first time.

I needed a toilet replaced. It was an optional repair. I just wanted a new toilet. I reached out to McCarthy Services, and the service visit was fine. It met expectations. They showed up on time, which is great.

So far, all my experiences have been good with McCarthy Services. The most recent one was just preparing for the summer. We did the tune-up of the HVAC system before going to the summer months and running the air conditioning. The representative I worked with was kind and professional. The service visit went well. It was quick. They ran through the inspections. They gave some recommendations on what we could do to improve the unit, and then they walked me through on how to do owner care and some preventive maintenance on it as well.

I got McCarthy Services at the end of May. I needed mini-splitters put in my apartments. I had mini-splitters put in two different apartments. Everything that they did was well. They were easy to work with and easy to communicate with.

I called McCarthy Services because they originally put in the HVAC systems that I had at my house. I had a lightning strike that caused some damage in the house, and the HVAC stopped working. I wanted them to come out and tell me if they could fix the problem. Their tech was on time and professional in his appearance. However, he misdiagnosed the system and said I needed thousands of dollars of parts when it was only a couple-hundred-dollar part. Also, the part that he recommended replacing was wrong. He ended up recommending that the whole system be replaced.

I contacted McCarthy Services when my AC stopped. It was quick and easy. However, McCarthry said the unit can't be fixed. It's always about, "You need a new machine. Can we send someone to give you a price on a new machine?" It would be nice to try to give me better options on fixing it rather than going right into replacement. Other than that, I appreciate a dedicated sales rep that I've been working with. Whenever I have issues, I just talk with him about it.

I had my water heater and three AC units replaced. I had a problem two months ago with my AC. Some guy came and said, "This is what's wrong." The equipment is still under warranty. He said it was the controller that was bad. I'm an engineer. I doubt that was the problem. They said it was $1,700 to replace it so I called somebody else. I asked, "Can you take a look at it?" I didn't tell them what was wrong and they said it's a blower. They came the next day and replaced the blower. Everything is okay. It was much cheaper compared to what McCarthy Services was. They have these vans that look the same. Their branding is good but they're expensive. Also, they said they will call me tomorrow but never did.

The technician who came for the A/C Tune Up advertised by Home Depot was on time, knowledgeable, and thorough. About a week later, my A/C stopped working altogether, so I texted the tech who returned, did an evaluation and proclaimed that it would not be cost-effective to repair my 20-year-old unit. I tentatively agreed. He arranged for a salesman (Maneeb) to give me a price quote on an entire new system.

Dishonest! Said the compressor was broken. Recommended a new unit for 21,000! Got a second opinion and it was the capacitor! Problem fixed for less than $600. What a scam!! Stay away!
