    LG oven warranty coverage explained

    All electric and gas LG ovens include a limited manufacturer’s warranty that lasts for one year and covers both parts and labor for repairs. Understanding coverage specifics and warranty limitations is a good place to start when deciding if an LG oven is right for you, or if you need to figure out whether an issue you’re experiencing is covered.

    What is and isn’t covered

    The LG warranty covers components including electrical- and gas-related parts. However, it won’t cover the following:

    • Accessories or removable parts, such as oven racks or lightbulbs
    • Cracks on glass cooktops caused by impact
    • Chipping enamel or pitting on glass cooktops
    • Dirty or clogged burner ports or electrodes

    Parts vs. labor coverage

    Your LG warranty will cover all parts except for removable components. The original parts remain under warranty for one year from the purchase date. Any replacement parts that LG uses as part of a repair are under warranty for 90 days or until the end of your original manufacturer’s warranty, whichever comes first.

    Unlike with some manufacturer warranties, LG’s oven warranty also covers labor. That means your repair or replacement will cost you nothing out of pocket, provided the issue is covered by your warranty.

    LG warranty repair vs. replacement

    LG’s oven warranty states that the company determines whether it will solve your issue with a repair or a full replacement. LG will send a technician to your home to confirm whether your warranty covers the problem and the suspected underlying cause; it will then decide based on the cost of each and the availability of replacement parts.

    Note that LG can use new, refurbished or reconditioned parts (and entire products) for repairs and replacements.

    LG oven extended warranty

    In addition to having the manufacturer’s warranty, you may choose to purchase LG Premium Care. This is an extended warranty option for your LG-branded appliances, including your oven. Plans are available through Asurion and can extend coverage for 12 months per contract term. They also add the following coverage:

    • Protection against power surges
    • Protection for accessories, including oven racks
    • Access to 24/7 troubleshooting with appliance experts

    There are three plan options to choose from, ranging from $39 to $89 per month.

    LG oven warranty terms and exclusions

    As with other manufacturer’s warranties, LG’s oven warranty excludes damage caused by certain underlying issues. Your warranty will not cover any of the following:

    • Issues caused by power outages or inadequate electrical service
    • Damage caused by leaks from windows, roofs, pipes or other appliances
    • Problems caused by insects or acts of God including floods, tornadoes and earthquakes
    • Issues caused by modifications or alterations
    • Damage resulting from delivery
    • Damage caused by improper use, installation or repairs
    • Problems related to display ovens, refurbished units or open-box models

    LG oven warranty claims process

    If you believe an issue you’re experiencing with your oven is covered by your LG warranty, be sure you have the following information handy before contacting the company for service:

    • The oven’s model number or serial number, which is usually located on the back of the unit or on the inside frame when you open the oven door
    • The date you purchased your oven
    • Proof of your original retail purchase
    • Access to the MyLG account under which you registered your LG oven

    If you believe your LG warranty won’t cover the issue, you can try reaching out to LG Premium Care if you have an extended warranty, or to your home warranty provider if the issue is related to normal wear and tear.

    Otherwise, you may have to pay for the repair out of pocket. It may be a good idea to have LG do the labor so your appliance remains under warranty for other issues, if applicable.

      How do I know if my oven is still under warranty?

      Oven warranties begin on the day you purchase your appliance, so you can check your receipt or order confirmation for the date of purchase. Next, check your oven manufacturer’s warranty to see how long the warranty lasts, and compare it to your date of purchase.

      How does LG Premium Care compare to standard warranty protection?

      LG Premium Care is an optional extended warranty. You’ll need to pay for every additional 12 months of Premium Care coverage you want. (By contrast, the standard warranty protection is free but lasts for one year from your purchase date.) LG Premium Care also includes some components and issues that the standard warranty doesn’t, like protection for removable components such as oven racks and coverage for damages caused by power outages.

      Is LG’s oven warranty transferable?

      LG’s manufacturer warranty is not transferable, and coverage ends if you sell your appliance. However, an extended warranty through LG Premium Care is transferable, and coverage from most home warranties is also transferable. Check with your coverage provider for specifics.

      Is an extended appliance warranty worth it?

      An extended appliance warranty can save you money if you run into an issue with your appliance after the manufacturer’s warranty expires. On the other hand, it may cost you money but provide peace of mind. If you don’t have savings that can cover major appliance repairs or replacements, an extended warranty could be a good option for you.

      Does the LG warranty cover installation costs?

      LG warranties for appliances don’t cover initial installation, but labor related to repairs or replacements is included in the warranty coverage. If you end up needing a replacement appliance, you won’t need to pay for delivery or installation.
