2 1/2 years ago, my husband and I built a new home. We were told to buy Jenn-Air appliances, so we did. The first time we turned our oven on, it made a terrible noise, so we had to call a service man to come and repair it. Next was the stove. Sometimes when I turn it on, it makes a terrible noise also. Now my refrigerator leaks water. Called the service man out, hoping it was just the water line. NOT! It had 4 different things wrong with it and cost $350.00 to repair it. I will never recommend Jenn-Air to anyone.

August 2008- we installed at combination Jenn-Air Wall Oven & Microwave Model JMW8527DAS which costs between $2,000 and $3,000. The manner in which these units are built require that one plugs the Microwave into a 3-Prong receptacle which is built into the top-rear of the oven on which the microwave sits.

When one CLEANS the oven, the power surge triggers an interupt switch next to the 3-prong plug to shut off power to the Moicrowave unit. This happens each time one wishes to power CLEAN the oven. The only way to get power back is to remove the entire 300 lb. assembly from the wall and flick the little switch back into the on position. The only solution is to install a separate 110v plug in the wall behind the units, and plug the microwave into the wall, instead of into the plug on top of the oven. This at the cost of installing new wiring at a cost of $250 or so.

We contacted Jenn-air several times requesting a credit for the wiring since the product is obviously poorly engineered. We were asked to call back 866-640-7146 Ext. 6742, and after a complete run around, were bumped up one level to a Supervisor who also gave us a run around claiming the only thing they can do is send a service man each time to remove and reset the entire system each time it fails.

We asked to speak with Engineering in an attempt to correct the flaw in their product, we were refused, with a canned we can only send a technician each time it fails.

I bought a Jenn Air stove and after two days the rim on the top of the range burned while I was cooking on the power burner. Jenn Air sent a someone to assess the problem, and they changed the supposed stainless steel top and left. Not even two days later, while I was using the same burner, the range top burned again. Since then I have had to take off numerous amount of days, to accomodate service people sent by Jenn Air, who do not know what the problem is.

Now I am dealing with Mary H., at 1866- ext, 7790 and it has been since April, that they do not know what to tell me or they are not attempting to rectify the situation. At this point the stove is not worth the 2500 dollars I paid, and I want them to take back the stove and give me my money. If the company can not explain why this is occuring, should I wait for the stove to burn up completely? As of today, July 23, 2008 she has not returned a phone call from 2 weeks ago. melting knobs, burned rim, clicking sounds when cooking, poor convection oven.

Purchased a double wall oven (Pro-model) and a side by side refrigerator. After a few months the ice maker stopped working and only works intermittently. Currently is not working. Now there is no cooling in the refrigerator or freezer, will have to throw away $100 dollars of fresh/frozen food. Keypad on Double oven no longer lights up, ie cannot see anything on the keypad. Both appliances cost over $2000 each.

Called customer service. They said just to send someone out will cost $126.00, and there is no guarantee anything will be fixed (as I see by other complaints filed on this website), and when I referred to the complaints in this website the rep became defensive and belligerent...a real good reflection of their commitment to their customers. I will most likely just throw the garbage in the dump and gets some reliable products from another company. They stink!

I could just cut & paste so many of the complaints I read about the Jenn-Aire double wall oven. I own this oven along with the ceramic stove, dishwasher and side x side fridge. The door has fallen off the oven 5 times since I bought it in 2004!! I've had local authorized repair service replace the hinge-kits. Well I lost it when my 21/2 yr old son almost got whacked with the door 2 months ago.

I called Jenn-Aire shaking and received no suppport. Their robotic response is if it is fixable they will not replace it. The serviceman changed the hinge-kit again and here it is 2 weeks later and the darn door fell off again! Also regarding the ceramic top stove, the knob has broken twice. My husband wants to replace all of the products immediately. This is such a sad situation that a company does not listen to its consumers and take care of the situation. Are they waiting for a horrible accident and get sued? What does it take to initiate a recall of a product?

I paid $1,450.00 (sale price) for a Jenn Air range with convection oven on May 30, 2006 and I've come to LOATHE it with a passion! It's impossible to simmer anything on this stove top---it's either all (full boil) or nothing (burner turned completely off). The convection part of the oven? It ended up being something I've only used three times.

The first time it worked o.k. The second time I used it I had to turn it off because the fan at the back of the oven was making a terrible clattering noise. A repairman fixed the fan, but the next time I tried to bake using convection the fan failed again. The back of the oven was glowing to the point where I really feared it might catch on fire.

Today the repairman told me the oven element was cracked and needed to be replaced ($85.00 just to come to my house plus the cost of the element)and he told me it would cost me an additional $200.00 plus to fix the convection part of the oven! I've owned considerably cheaper ranges that have worked better and lasted MUCH longer without expensive repairs. Jenn Air has lost me as a customer. PERMANENTLY.

Expensive repair costs for a relatively new, over-priced and grossly over rated appliance!

My Jenn Air convection double oven display has started to go out on me again. The part is a circuit board, the repair man called it the relay board. It sits up above the oven and evidently is sensitive to heating and cooling cycles, imagine that! I replaced it only 5 years ago, hoping they would figure out how to make it last longer, and the repairman told me not to use the self cleaning feature, so we tried that. Well, here we are only five years later and the bottom oven has been unusable for about a year and now the top oven blanks out after reaching a certain temperature. It comes back after the entire oven cools, but will probably stop functioning completely soon.

I refuse to support this unacceptable solution of having to spend $450 on a stupid circuit board that is not build for the environment it is intended to be used in. Jenn Air had plenty of time to release a board that could have survived the environent of their oven. What good is solid state circuitry if it blows out every few years. Give me relays or tubes if they will last for 15 years! So we are removing this bad oven and replacing it with something else. We will steer clear of any future appliances with the Jenn Air!

The electronic control boards burned out on our Jenn-Aire wall oven BECAUSE the door wouldn't shut completely due to bad hinges. The heated air from the oven went directly up to a vent that is adjacent to the control board. The repair man said the two control boards would be about $800 plus about $300 labor. The best part is that new hinges are no longer available. Therefore it's nonsensical to replace boards as they will just burn out again. Unfortunately I'll have to replace the oven with another Jenn- Aire product to match my built in microwave. I remember when Jenn-Aire was a quality product....

Matching oven will be $1200 to $1500.

I purchase a new Jenn Air double convection oven in 2005. The door on the bottom oven has never stayed closed. The light will not go off and it will not preheat. That did not bother me too much because we always used the top oven and probably did not need two ovens to begin with. Now, the oven is about two years old and the top oven door will not stay closed. Since the warranty is expired, I decided to just buy some new hinges and replace them myself (how hard can it be?).

I called Jenn Air to order the hinges. They informed me that the hinges are no longer available and that I might check with an after market distributor to find a replacement. It turns out that there is no replacement. It appears that my only option is to take this $2000.00 two year old oven and throw it in the dump. I will never purchase anything manufactured by Jenn Air or any company associayed with Jenn Air again.

I have been screwed out of $2000.00 because of defective hinges that Jenn Air has no intention of replacing for any price.

After 1 year, 13 days the control panel on my Jenn air wall oven, Model JJW9530DDW, quit working. We paid $1490. for this oven. This part has a 2 year warranty so Jenn air is sending a service technician to replace the control display unit. But I do not think that an expensive appliance like this should fail so quickly. That is my complaint. It is an inconvenience to be without an oven. It is another appliance that probably hasnt had 30 days usage.

I bought Jenn air because I had an electric Jenn air in my home in NJ and then replaced it with a Jenn air gas stove and I didn't have any problems with those in 28 years. There was no economic or physical damage, just aggravation and disappointment and expecting the new unit to fail just after the warranty runs out. Thanks for your time.

Three years ago my fiance purchased a Jenn-Air convection oven and microwave. From the beginning, the door would not shut properly and the light stayed on. After reading the other complaints, I realize that the long time it take to heat up is not normal as it takes forever it seems to reach proper temperatures. Today I lifted the door handle upward thinking that maybe that would make it close better and it shattered into a million pieces (the glass on the outside part). The outside part of the two handle bars are attached right to the glass. Only a screw part connects to metal. By lifting up just a bit I put pressure on the glass, thus shattering it. If it had been designed better I feel it would not have broken.

The microwave program console only works for certain numbers in the high range, like 7, 8, 9, or sometimes not even those. The microwave is very rarely used since it is an adventure in programming. The store we bought the items from said we were too late in asking for help even though we called within a month of installation about the microwave.

A big mess and an oven that still won't close properly and now has no outside cover.

In 2000 I remodeled my Kitchen from the bare studs out. I wanted to install an upgraded range so I purchased a Jenn-Aire electric oven/convection oven with gas burners and grill. The first time I used the grill the element turned a dark ugly color. I could deal with that. A few months later the L.E.D. readout went out. Everything still worked so I lived with that after unsuccessfully trying to locate a part for repair. Then the broiler quit working. So I use a little $20.00 toaster oven to brown pies etc.

Now the final straw. I attempted to use the self clean cycle and after several attempts it finally went into the clean mode. after about 40 minutes the timer started to go off. I had set the cleaning cycle for 2 hours as recommended in the manual for a moderate cleaning. The oven wasn't too dirty but I wanted to clean it because I was showing the house for sale the next day. After 2 hours of trying to get the noise to quit I finally managed to quiet the timer. The cleaning cycle had stopped after 40 minutes and by now the oven was completely cooled down. I couldn't open the door. The next morning the fan is still running and the door still will not open.

I called Jenn aire customer service and they told me to look inside the oven door and get the serial number. Yeah right! As soon as you tell me how to open it! They suggested I press the unlock button. Well guess what! It doesn't have one. Then they suggested I read the manual and see what it recommended. It doesn't mention anything at all about problems with cleaning cycle.

Then they gave me 3 phone numbers to call for a repairman to come and diagnose the problem. The first one I called is no longer a working number. The second one no longer works on Jenn-aire, just whirlpool. The 3rd was in Texas. I am in Kentucky. I then called Sears and after going thru 10 numbers to push finally got a recording of a number to call for repair. Well seems he is in Texas also but he can come in about a week and a half to look at it. At this time he will provide an estimate to see if I want to repair it or perhaps just purchase another.

I can assure you I will certainly purchase another. IT WILL NOT BE ANYTHING made by Jenn-Aire! This was a very expensive unit and it has been the worst stove I have ever owned. I am 63 years old and have used many different brands. Never had a problem with any of the others but I can assure you I will call the repair service for information before I decide on what brand I will buy next.

    Jenn-air Beware!!!

Less than two years since we bought out Jenn air double convection oven from JC Perrault (a large high end appliance and furniture vendor in Montreal), we are now on our fifth major repair of this state of the art 30 double convection wall oven from Jenn Air. Each time a repair was needed, on average every four months, we have had to wait at least a week for a repair person and then extra weeks for them to get the part. Mean while, we have no oven to work with, just a big stainless steel double oven shelf that is unusable. Luckily, we had purchased the extended warranty and still we must wait weeks at a time to get service.

Try to contact Whirlpool or Maytag directly, good luck. Go to their web site and find an actual phone number of email address and the best you will get is a call center someplace. Now the game seems to be that the warranty company believes the thing can't be repaired but Maytag says it can... Are we to be lost in hot potatoe? Clearly this Jenn air appliance which cost some nearly $3,000 is not made to last and is full of bugs...I hope that Maytag actually steps up to its responsibility and changes the oven for one that actually works!!! Meanwhile, now that it's summer I have doing lots of bbq waiting for service.

We purchased a 30 Electric Jenn-Air Convection Wall Mount Oven in May 2004. On April 28th, 2007 of this year a harrowing chain of events started with this oven. My wife was baking and was removing some muffins from the oven with one hand and the right hinge of the door fell out. The oven was 350 degrees .. she screamed for me but I was outside ... she was able to nudge a box nearby over with her foot to rest the door on.

We called Beacon Appliance Service Center & Repair an authorized Jenn-Air (Maytag, whirlpool) service center out of Redding CA. 530 223-0500 ... Their service person Chad came out and put the door back on ... as he was writing up the $95 bill the same right side fell out again .. He then took the door completely off for safety and said we would need new hinges which he ordered ...

A little later he came out an re-installed the door with the new hinges .... for an additional $95.00 or so.

The first time my wife used the oven to bake with again a couple of days later the entire door fell of again with the oven at 350 degrees. This time the entire door fell off on her foot (badly bruising it) and the glass shattered all over the floor. If our 1 1/2 or 4 1/2 year old grand daughters had been there it could have injured, killed or burned them severely. These doors are very heavy.

We went to Google to the U.S. Dept of Consumer Affairs and found out that there are similar complaints there and also complaints of loss of oven heat and very long pre-heat times due to the doors not closing tight (probably due to the defective hinges) ... We also found out that the once fairly reliable Jenn-Air brand has recently been sold to Maytag and since to Whirlpool ... not giants in the reliability department.

The dealer we bought the Jenn-Air from ... Carmona's Appliance ( 530 222-2288) in Redding CA is very good and the owner Terry Alvord is going to bat for us with Jenn-Air (Whirlpool).

I asked Terry is there still a brand that is made in the USA and he said that Dacor out of Texas was the only one he knew of .... We bought the Dacor top-of-the-line oven and have already had it installed, We also took the precaution of purchasing the 5 year extended warranty for all parts and 10yrs on the heating element. It does cost more but is definitely worth it! It also heats up in 1/2 the time. The Dacor door will never come off as it has 2 sets of hinges on each side .... Becky loves this new oven ... We also have had the Dacor cook top and should have stuck with that brand to begin with. The Jenn-Air looked real good = ALL SHOW AND NO GO!

Of course, Thanksgiving was at our new house, and the bottom door of the double oven would not stay closed. The light was always staying on, as well as the temperature taking forever to heat up. We managed to get through the holiday. After several visits by the repair technician, he returned with a new hinge kit to fix the doors. He stated this was a well known problem and they came out with a new kit to fix it.

Well, it must be because of the holidays but the same thing happened again. Hinges let go and the doors would not stay tightly shut. Many times I go by and the light is on in the lower oven. The 1/4 inch metal hinge on my wall oven door just snapped in two pieces and I can not close my oven door. It is obviously defective and after calling Jennaire to tell them about it they said that it was not under warranty so they can not do anything about it. I understand warranties and I understand things don't seem to last as long as they used to. The oven is 8 years old (wasn't used for 2 years) and I have barely used it in the last two.

For a door that has not been used very much and for a piece of metal to snap in two pieces is very scary. The supervisor said he had never heard of this happening before and yet still said they would not do anything about it. Is there a company who still cares about the quality and safety of it's products? I was not the original purchaser of this wall oven and I can tell you I will never buy one myself.

In 1999, I purchased a Jenn-Air oven for $1000, as I have always wanted one.

When I contacted customer service at Jenn-Air several months ago I was told, "Tough".

We bought a Jenn-AireStainless Steel Convection (upper and lower)self cleaning (upper and lower) Double Wall Oven in July of 2004.

We started having problems almost immediately with the door hinge on the top oven.

Jenn-Aire did finally send a repairman to fix it but we are now having the same problem again with the top AND bottom oven. The door will not shut completely, so the oven light is always on and it takes forever for the oven to heat and cook.

i have just read all the jenn-air complaints on this site and wished i had done some research before i bought my gas convection range last year! i thought jenn-air was a name you could trust but boy was i wrong. our problems are minor compared to others but still in less than a year the gas lever to one of the burners has broken, luckily that was still under warranty and i realize i will need to purchase the extended warranty since i'm sure this won't be the last problem! the grills have started flaking. when i called about this i was just told where to purchase more since, although they come with the original range, they are considered accessories. why would i buy more when they only last less than a year? i'll be putting them in the trashcan and cursing jenn-air as i do so. i would definatley not recommend this appliance, it is not worth the money!!!!

Three years ago we purchased Jenn-Air's double wall ovens - electric convection (JJW9630). In the past 19 months, the panel has burnt out and needed to be replaced 3 times. Last week-end I ran the auto clean cycle which caused the sensor to burn out ($180 repair). And additionally, it takes 3 to 4 hard thrusts against the door of the upper oven for the interior light to go out. We will be replacing the ovens and letting all know what poor quality is built into Jenn-Air.

With warranties in place, I've spent $364 in the past 19 months on repair. And the light issue is still not resolved.

When my husband and I built our home in 1999, we purchased Jenn-Air double wall ovens (stainless) and a Jenn-Air gas range and dishwasher...thinking we were buying quality. All of my appliances have had to be serviced at least twice in the past five years and the ovens(the most expensive of my purchases) has had to be repaired on several more occasions. In particular, the digital panel that reads the time and temps. has gone out every 24 months. It was under warranty the first time and the second time, I had the extended warranty...never expecting to have the same problem three times in a row, I didn't not renew the warranty.

When I contacted Jenn-Air, they said, in no uncertain terms, TOO BAD, SHOULD HAVE HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. I do not feel like I should have to pay for this part because of the history of the defect (cook, oven gets hot over time, read-out goes bad) Jenn-Air has a horrible customer service policy. I am sorry that I did not do my homework better before buying, will never purchase another Maytag related item again and will do my best to make sure that no one I know does either.

Purchased a Jenn aire dbl convection oven in December 03. Had the oven 1 week and one day when raising the lower door to close, hinge on one side of lower door came detached from oven. The door twisted as one side of the hinge was still attached to the oven, and hit me in the leg. Inner door liner was damaged and enamel flaked off. I contacted maytag, and was told parts were on back order.

Meanwhile, my new stainless appliance kitchen had a hole in the lower oven where the door should be. After about 5 weeks, and several phone calls, the parts came in. About a week after the hinges were replaced, it happened again. This time, it hit a friend in the leg while they were taking some hot food out of the oven. Parts were once again backordered. 2 mos later, a maytag repairman showed up and replaced the hinge and inner door liner. Alignment of upper door is very poor, maytag says the door needs to be taken apart to re-align. 1mo later, it falls off again.

The next tech came out, said there was nothing wrong with the door, said he fixed it, (I was not home) and implied I did not know how to close an oven door. When I returned home, the door would not close completely, and was clearly still defective. I had been more than patient up to that point and upon my contact with the last tech, I had it with Maytag.

During the whole time, I left several messages with the maytag area rep, either he did not call me back or took several days to call me back. I have never dealt with a company with such poor customer service. Maytag states that it is still repairable. How long does this ridiculous cycle continue? The store I purchased it from states that they cannot take it back unless maytag agrees to take it back. I will never buy a maytag or jennair product again.

We installed the top of the line appliances in our home in the summer of 2000, purchased from Sears. This included a Jenn-Air Grill Range with the self-cleaning convection oven, Model SVE47600. We also have the problem of the oven door not unlocking. This has happened several times, and the service rep said we will have to replace the entire control panel, at a cost of appx. $400 just for parts. There is no excuse for this to happen, and the company should stand behind this product, and recall/replace the ones not working.

I have a 4 1/2 year old Jennaire Convection range in my home. The enamal on the range top is flaking off all around the holes that the burner pans fit into. When I called Jennaire customer service today, they basically told me tough, buy a new top. I have replaced the burner pans, to the tune of $100.00 5 times, for the same reason - the enamal flakes off.

My Jennaire dishwasher has been repaired 3 times in 4 1/2 years.

I will never reccommend Jennaire to anyone and won't ever purchase any more of their products.

In April 1994 I purchased a Jenn-air range (d156B)and almost imediatly began to have problems with the oven. After it was on for a while it would begin to beep and flash F1 which is a warning to call repair service. Our contract for service is with Maycor parts and service company, Fairfield, New Jersey. After a lot of repeated visits and replaced parts the range was replaced in 11-15-97. We have the same problem with this range ! It is model sve47600b, after the oven has been on for a time it starts beeping and flashing F1.

We still maintain our service contract with Maycor but they are as frustrated by the problem as we are ! I am dealing with Mr. Ted Byram, the service manager and have nothing but
praise for the service that I have been given. When the new range was installed I was told that Jenn-air had reworked the oven and that would end the problem. Both this unit and the one before are combination convection and bake units.

We are a two person senior citizen household and I count on the oven a few times a year for the holidays. This Thanksgiving I said a special prayer that the Turkey be done before the beeping and flashing started ! It was not and I had to finish the bird in a neighbors oven. Can you tell me if others have the same problem ?
