GOODMAN IS ABSOLUTELY THE WORST. They mess up extended warranties and refuse coverage! I called to speak with a customer service rep regarding my extended warranty in my contract. They refused to discuss with me! I kept trying and to no avail would anyone speak to me regarding my extended warranty. I do not recommend GOODMAN DAIKIN. ALWAYS A PROBLEM. STAY AWAY, FAR AWAY!

We bought a brand new unit from Goodman and it was a lemon. It didn’t work from day one, it was out of freon and others things. We told them about it. They kept wanting to fix it but it never worked. It took us days to get them to give us a new one and finally they did but made us pay the installment again. They refused to pay. They were so unprofessional. They refuse to talk to us personally on the phone. I want my money back for the installment and I will never buy from them again.

The unit worked ok then totally went out. The replacement parts weren't available, they had to get from manufacturer. First manufacturer stated a week, then 2 weeks. Now 3 to 4 weeks. I live in Texas and the inside of house can get to 90/95 degrees. We had to purchase 2 portable units just to make the house bearable. This is ridiculous for a fairly new unit. I would not recommend to anybody.

I purchased a Goodman heat and air unit 6 years ago, it has been nothing but a money pit since day 1, change of the seasons something always breaks, going into first winter heat exchanger went bad first summer leaking freon and capacitors went bad every time it's anywhere from 200 dollars or more, I have almost bought the unit again in repairs, the leak was covered by the so called warranty, but other breakdowns was paid out of my pocket, if you're thinking about a Goodman central heat and air unit don't, here it is 90+degree weather and guess what now it won't cool again.

I purchased a Goodman Home Central Air Conditioner in 2021. It started to have problems in the 3rd year. Now, in 2025 it stopped working. My contractor came out and evaluated the 2-stage system he installed. The technician told me there was a design flaw and Goodman had recommended a method to fix it. It cost me about $500 dollars to get it running again. I am not sure it will keep running in the years ahead. I call Goodman and they said it is my problem. I don't recommend buying a Goodman air conditioner for your home. They won't stand behind their product.

Terrible company. Does not stand behind its products. We built house in 2018 and when we got home paperwork said 5 yr labor and 10yr parts warranty. Fan motor on outdoor unit is bad now so we called and they said it's not registered even though they can see date of purchase and install but still won't help as it's not registered. Said builder don't register and most of people don't know. They need to so it's not registered and they won't cover parts.

If you have a choice, do NOT buy a Goodman AC unit. We have had our unit less than two years and the compressor has already gone out. They make you go through their warranty which takes extremely long. I am going on 5 weeks with no AC in the summer and they can't even give me an ETA on when it will be available. It was supposed to have a replacement part weeks ago and it still wasn't ready. These units are horrible and after reviewing others' complaints, this company makes poor units. Avoid at all cost.

I have a 6 year old system. The condenser coil started to leak. It's crazy hot in Florida. The tech ordered the coil which is under warranty but was told it will take 3 to 4 weeks. Tenant is pissed and I don't blame him. I called Goodman several times and every time I was brushed off. I was told to contact the distributor but the distributor has no solution. I asked to expedite and was told to pay $1000, which I think is a theft. Goodman refused to help me and I'm left stranded. It's wait for 4 weeks or buy another unit. I'm about to file a former complaint with Federal Trade Commission. Guys, when you buy their product, keep in mind they break a lot and parts have waiting period of 2 to 4 weeks and the only way to fight is to bring your complaint to the federal level.

I would not recommend a Goodman. We have had our furnace for 4 years. The blower went bad a couple months ago. Part was covered labor was not. Now, 6 days ago, summertime, motherboard goes bad. They replace motherboard but can get some kind of app to put code into motherboard or furnace. I have had 3 companies out, 1 being a Goodman authorized repair company, still not fixed. Hotter than heck in our house, miserable! Goodman doesn't care, customer service terrible, I called their 800 number. They bring out this new technology but don't teach their Certified repair people to fix!

Goodman (Daikin Comfort) is manufacturing subpar coils in their air handlers that use thin aluminum and regularly leak freon in as soon as 6 months after install. While they do warranty the coil (itself) for 10 years, nothing else is covered. If you were unlucky enough to have chosen a Goodman system and it begins failing to hold a temperature, it is likely due to a failing leaking coil. A visit from the installer will be approximately $300 to tell you (confirm) that your new coil has developed a leak. They will inform you that Goodman will cover the cost of the coil, but it costs $1500.00 dollars in labor to replace the faulty coil.
Unfortunately, the coil that they put in is from Goodman, so you will likely go around in circles at this point with the same coil leaking again. With each time being around $2000.00, you realize very quickly that you should not have chosen a Goodman product. I reached out to Goodman but they are not interested in helping with the problem. Buyer beware! Standby for a class action lawsuit - everybody needs to submit their complaints.

BUYER BEWARE/WARRANTY IS POINTLESS. I purchased and had installed a Goodman unit in 2018. The unit came with a 10 year parts warranty. In 2025 the compressor failed. The labor to replace the compressor and refridgerant will cost more than I originally paid for entire unit with install. The warranty is given to the purchaser but Goodman will only give parts to the contractor. The "warranty" is pointless when the contractor can pick any random amount for installation of warranty items. BUYER BEWARE!!! Goodman is no good.

I bought an HVAC Goodman Air handler and less than two years it's falling apart. They will not cover the expense of shipping. I'm given the runaround basically them saying not their problem. I also have to pay another $1,400 for install plus the delivery charges all over again. I do not recommend Goodman products since their products are junk and their customer service (if you want to call it that) is very very poor. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON GOODMAN PRODUCTS!

4yr old unit and have to spend hundreds of dollars every few month for repairs. Spend the extra money and get a better unit. They don't hold up in Florida. They should close their doors. My original unit that was 13 yrs old never gave me a issue. I should have fixed that one and not buy a new unit like I did.

Frequent breakdowns of my AC unit. Despite regular maintenance this unit has only been in use for 5 years 2 months a year. It started leaking gas after 2 years. Every time my technician states that they only cover parts not labor. I have since been paying $600-$800 yearly to keep this going. I tried to reach out customer service. They claim that my technician needs to call. They have written several times to them to no avail. Stay away from this company.

Updated on 06/03/2025: I am writing to update my review regarding the ongoing issue with my Goodman AC unit. Unfortunately, the request for a unit replacement was declined based on the technician’s recommendation, and I was instead offered another compressor replacement. To date, two compressors have been replaced within a span of two weeks, yet the issue remains unresolved. There has been a consistent lack of clear communication or resolution from Goodman. Every time I contact Goodman support, I am advised to have a certified technician reach out to the technical department. Despite doing so, no effective solution has been provided. The repeated recommendation to replace the compressor has proven ineffective.
As a result, I have been without air conditioning for an extended period and have incurred significant out-of-pocket expenses for replacements that, according to the initial technician's diagnosis, were unnecessary. This situation has not only caused financial strain but has also made living conditions extremely uncomfortable. I sincerely hope that someone from Goodman sees this complaint and takes the necessary steps to address and resolve this matter promptly and fairly.
Original Review: I’ve had nothing but problems with my Goodman AC unit. It’s less than 3 years old, and I’ve already had to replace the compressor three times. Despite these repeated failures, Goodman has refused to replace the entire unit. Their customer service has been awful — Unresponsive and unhelpful. Honestly, I regret this purchase more than anything. I should have taken the reviews seriously before buying, because everything people say is true: These AC units are garbage. Save yourself the headache and go with a more reliable brand.

I 100% do not recommend any Goodman products, avoid at all costs!!! We had our brand new HVAC system, dual heat-pump installed a couple of years ago. The air conditioner stopped working almost a year ago, the heater stopped working. No technician has been able to fix our air conditioner, they say everything looks right, but it won't work. They're not sure if it will even be covered under a warranty. Goodman will not answer their calls, puts them on hold for over 1.5 hours each time they try. Goodman won't even respond to me, they say they don't talk to customers directly. Our newest HVAC person said they would never recommend Goodman to anyone.

I’ve had a 5 ton package unit for 10 years. The unit has been worked on every year for refrigerant leaks and bad capacitors. The evaporators in these units are complete trash. I’ve spent several hundred dollars having this unit repaired. Recommend spending a couple hundred dollars more and buy a better manufactured unit. Complete waste of money and trust.

Our new Goodman HVAC heat pump was installed in Jan 2025 at our Texas home replacing a 2009 Goodman model. This new unit vibrated with a loud bump thump every 15-20 secs. We could not sleep with it on and turned it off at night. The drum on the air handler was unbalanced, not installed properly at the factory. In April, our home warranty company techs got a new drum and finally had it replaced under warranty after 4 months of phone calls, pictures, videos with sound sent via our home warranty company to the Goodman Service Center. It cost an additional $250 for labor to install the new drum. The techs had problems getting the drum balanced in the housing. After 4 tries they finally were able to level it and screw it down into position. No more shaking the floor above it and in front of it.

Soon will be 4 months after Goodman HVAC was installed, not working properly from first day. 5 different technicians cannot fix the unit. Dripping water evaporated outside of pan, keeping filter always wet and out of filter too. Living in Florida, getting dangerous increases mold formation. Installers sent me to manufacture company and they sending me to installer, refusing to help, probably waiting warranty to expire…. I do agree that was a huge mistake choosing this manufacturer.

We purchase a 4 year old house with 2 Goodman heat pumps. The day we did the walkthrough one AC was broke, the fan on the condenser froze up. In 13 months we have had the following parts go bad: reversing valve, 2 inside two speed motors with modules, two contactors, a circuit board, and the other compressor fan motor burnt up. The repairman said the inside evap coil on one unit had been replaced, but not disclosed by the original owner/builder. I am 58 years old and have owned many homes, sometimes 2 at a time. I have never seen any AC break as much as Goodman.
The AC repairman said he sells and personally owns Goodman HVACs and has very little problems and can only attribute it to these being the more expensive 2 stage compressors with variable speed inside blower motors. We just threw in the towel on one of these units and replaced it with a Trane. We can’t live with the unpredictability of these Goodman, especially on the Mississippi coast.

I've had several Goodman units, including package units and split systems and a furnace. I have 2 now, installed in April of 2018 and my sister has one. The only problem we have ever had was the capacitors going bad. After replacing the 2 in 2018, and talking to techs who sounded like used car salesmen, I went to HVAC tech school full time for a year to make sure I wasn't getting ripped off. I also took the Light Commercial Refrigeration class the following year, graduating both times at the top of the class and becoming N.A.T.E. in both as well as EPA 608 Universal level certified.
While Goodman units aren't the "Top of the Line" systems, they are affordable and dependable. I believe a lot of the problems have to do with the installations. They may be oversized or poorly ducted. They may have taken shortcuts while installing the refrigerant lines like not vacuuming the lines to below 500 microns and checking to make sure it holds, indicating a leak or moisture in the system which can destroy the compressor in a few years. Also, brazing the lines without low flow dry nitrogen gas to prevent the formation of cupric oxide in the refrigerant lines which can clog metering devices (TXVs and fixed orifices) and acts like sand when it gets in the compressor motor causing premature wear and failure.
Cupric oxide wasn't a problem with old banned refrigerants which used mineral oil for lubrication but newer refrigerants systems use POE oil which loosens the cupric oxide flakes from the inside walls of the tubing and lets it flow through the system. At any rate, Goodman HVAC units are generally fine they're just the lower end of the spectrum without all the fancy features. Even the high end units can and do fail due to poor installation and maintenance. Keep your air filters changed regularly! Also, hose down your outdoor unit once or twice a year.

Don't believe Goodman's warranty. Their local distributor charged me $75 for processing the order for the warranted part. Not only is this unethical, but probably illegal as well since it wasn't disclosed upfront. Buy from a reputable manufacturer.

I purchased my Goodman heat pump in 2021. It’s been a great performer up until mid-2024, when it quit cooling. The unit has a 5-year warranty on parts, and I called a repairman to fix it. Due to either poor design or poor installation of refrigerant piping, the lines rubbed together until the metal failed and a pinhole formed, letting all the refrigerant escape. I would think, since it was manufacturer error, Goodman would cover costs, but don’t let their warranty fool you. They refused to pick up the tab, only parts are covered. Their inferior quality control cost me $688 to patch refrigerant line, and replace gas. Hopefully, the patch holds! Buyers beware.

Goodman is nothing but problems. From the reliability to their customer service. I purchased two units less than two years ago and the HVAC installer had to come onsite for both units more than a dozen times. Controller issues, compressor issues, drain pan issues and numerous system failures. Daikon Industries purchased Goodman in 2012. I read where their warranty was better, yet I have yet to get any support nor has my installer received any support. If you want problems, Goodman will deliver.

Original unit was purchased and installed in 2010, at least 2 compressors later we had a brand new unit installed in Nov. 2018. The first unit brought was a dud, they called it “DOA”, so they brought a second unit and everything worked okay, not great, until Dec. 31/23. This was 2 months past the 5 yr warranty, but all good as it was registered so 10yr warranty. Wrong, it was the DOA unit that was registered so no warranty! Nearly $5K and 9 months later and it’s still not working, new compressor is now shot too. So do not buy Goodman.

I bought a new HVAC Goodman and had it installed in the last house I bought and renovated. Over 7 years, it has quit working in the summer for some reason or another. The vendor I purchased it from here in SC does not make fixing your unit a priority even in deadly Southern hot summers. Don't waste your money on this crap and I have a warranty which doesn't include labor or suffering and hardship.

Goodman AC units are absolute TRASH. 4 year old and needed a new compressor. The compressor replacement was going to cost me over 3K except the compressor has been on backorder for 8 months and no end in sight for the backorder to end. I obviously can't wait a year with NO AC unit so It calls for a total replacement of the unit. Garbage to say the least.
Reviewed July 25, 2024
Absolutely the worst. The compressor went bad within the first year and the warranty only covers the compressor and not the labor, refrigerant or anything to flush the lines. On top of that the freight charge is $275.00. Never again.
