Frigidaire 20.2 cu freezer - I purchased this freezer on May 24th 2015. It's June 22nd 2015 and I'm stuck with a freezer that doesn't work. They don't stand behind their products. Frigidaire sent out their maintenance people, only they never showed up. I told them to come get it and they still haven't. They said there is nothing more they can do. Don't buy this product.

Purchased a Frigidaire Upright Freezer model GLFH21F8HWJ from Lowes on April 4, 2014 and stopped working 14 months later on June 6, 2015. Contacted Lowes about it. They wanted to know if I had bought their extended warranty and when I said "no", I was told "we are sorry but your freezer is 2 months out of warranty but we can setup a repair at your cost..." The call went to the Philippine Call Center after that. I was told that a repair could be setup 20 days later. I said "what happens to my food in the mean time?" They kept saying over and over "We are so sorry". Got tired of the runaround hung up and contacted a local repair service that responded the very next day. Was told that the defrost heated failed and had to be replaced. Never again will I buy Frigidaire Junk... it made to fail with parts made in China.

We bought a large upright Frigidaire freezer a few years ago because our old chest type was beginning to rust in the garage and we wanted to be sure when it died we had another to depend on. The new freezer has run perfectly up till now. When putting some items in it the other day it stopped running. I didn't think much of it at the time, but it has never kicked back on since. Now all I have in it is thawing out. This is ridiculous for a freezer no older than this one. Frigidaire should be ashamed to sell products with no longer life than this one has had. I don't know if my meats can be saved or not. They are not completely thawed out yet, but all my frozen vegetables are. I am very upset. My rusted freezer is still working great though. Never expected it to be the backup!

The main complaint was ice in my freezer (in-between the door also). I called Badcock to let them know about the problem. So they called the tech out to fix it. Well needless to say, they have been here more than 4 times...still not fixed. The tech called Frigidaire right in front of me before they left my house and the last time the tech told Frigidaire that the problem was unfixable and the freezer at this point needs to be replaced (the freezer is less than a year old). Frigidaire told the tech to sit on the door and make it work, that they do not want to replace, and they also said that it was a manufacture defect that was the problem.
In my book they already admitted that it is a manufacture defect. Why will they not replace it? I heard this myself because the tech had them on speaker phone talking to the tech. Very unprofessional from Frigidaire tech help. Now because so many people have complained about the freezer, Frigidaire had discontinued the sale of the freezer. But they will not replace the freezer even after the tech has told them they cannot fix the problem. So all I have to say ($600.00 later) is shame on you Frigidaire for not being truthful about your made in CHINA **. I will be writing a letter to the BBB about this issue because this is just not right, what you guys are doing to people! FYI Frigidaire, my name is Angel ** and I live in Sebring, Florida so if you read your Reviews and do not like what I had to say look me up in your system and feel free to give me a call!!

My 21 cu ft Frigidaire upright freezer had a SEALED SYSTEM LEAK after only 4 years of use. It is inside our heated and cooled house and is not often opened as we don't have children in the home. It will cost between $500 and $700 to repair which is not worth it. Frigidaire will not make any concessions to replace or repair. The Frigidaire name no longer implies quality and I will not buy another of their appliances nor will I suggest that friends buy their products.

I bought my dad a medium upright freezer from Sears. My dad is an 83 year old, 100% duty related disabled veteran and bronze star recipient. I bought him this freezer because I thought we could rely on both Sears and Frigidaire. About 15 months after installing it in his apartment where it received light use, it quit freezing one day and he lost all of the food inside. Upon inspection, we realized that there is a tiny pinhole in the coolant line in the back that is corroded. We did nothing to cause this pinhole. It must be a manufacturing problem. I tried to get Sears or Frigidaire to reimburse my dad for his food and to replace the freezer. They have no interest in doing either. While the $300 or so it would cost to replace it may not be a lot of money to them, it is to my dad.

We bought a Frigidaire Freezer for our basement... I cook a lot and freeze quite a bit of food. It comes in handy when I'm rushed. Anyway, I have always taken excellent care of my freezer which is about five years old. In fact, it looks like it just came off the showroom. It just died... probably the compressor. I had to remove much of my excellent food, including my processed organic tomatoes, and squeeze them into my kitchen freezer. I was not planning on this inconvenient and unexpected expense! Really! I treated this freezer like royalty. I expected it to last at least twenty years. Now I have to buy a new one... husband says it will cost too much to fix. This will be so inconvenient.
I had not been familiar with the Frigidaire name... my husband and I had bought one Frigidaire dehumidifier at Lowes and promptly returned it when it didn't work, then we bought another and had to return that. Luckily, I found a great dehumidifier I can depend on. When I caught the name on my freezer, after it stopped working, my heart sank. It said Frigidaire. I do not believe this is made in the US. If it is, then the parts are not made here. I am so disappointed and angry. This situation has made a lot of work for me. I will never, ever buy anything from that brand again.

5 years to the day it went out. Center Point Repair technician came out and said the compressor was broke. Since this was the 2nd appliance in 2 months to go I just could not believe it. So I had my husband locate the 3 of 4 parts that could be the problem and install them. We are waiting to see if it is a minor part. Otherwise based on size, I will need to purchase a Frigidaire again. Service contract only go 5 yrs for $100.00. Warren ** offers coverage on the compressor 10 years. Best Buy has the 12.1 Frigidaire with a "Q" which means a recall. It is just 5 yrs too late.

Purchased a Frigidaire steel door fridge. Icemaker went out after 48 hours, which is coincidentally the time limit to report a problem. Icemaker took that much time to create 1 box of ice and by the time it was obvious it was not working, my time limit was up. So, I called the store's repair line and got the runaround and called Electrolux /Frigidaire and got on the repairman list. Next the icemaker creates a bridge of ice on the interior of the refrigerator, connecting itself to the back of the fridge. I called and told "BOTH" entities the new problem.
Next, the fridge got warm. Fluctuated between 37 degrees and 47 degrees. I had wised up to this problem, because everything in the fridge went belly up and I had fresh milk souring every other day. YET, the digital thermostat said it was 37 degrees. So, I had place a real thermometer inside after the 2nd gallon of milk went south and found the issue. Again, I called both repair centers. I had 1 service call from Frigidaire and the seller of this brand new out of the box piece of crap. He looked at it and said he could not help. He had 7-8 others that were the same identical pieces of junk.
So, Frigidaire after the service call and all my calls did nothing but blame the seller and I needed to get them to fix it. So, after being poisoned by Freon, and yes, I have a heart failure and getting a good old dose of Freon turned me inside out. I had just replaced the floor in the kitchen 3 days before this rolling piece of ** hit my door. And guess what folks, IT LEAKED FREON AND THE COMPRESSOR FULL of oil all over my new floor and the floor that had been put down months earlier.
The guys who delivered the new fridge, that the store was finally kind enough to replace, weren't by Frigidaire, and they had even less respect for me and my home. I did not know the oil was on the floor and they literally rolling it over me. I was asking them to wait and give me a minute to ask what it was and to not roll the new fridge over me. MY kitchen is small folks. I have my hands in oil and I see the oil has penetrated down into the floor. Between the Freon and the oil, it will eat the finish off. So, now I am lucky my son snapped a picture of the oil and they want me to:
1- Get 2 different companies to come and evaluate the floor.2- Have really good pictures.
3- Have my homeowner's policy pay for the damage and they may "consider" paying for it later, of course.
4- Get pricing on replacement flooring.
5- Jump through about 10 other ** they can come up with.
I had the appliance manager at the store I purchased it from tell my son that it is a well known FACTORY DEFAULT and that Freon and the compressor oil will eat the finish off of your floor and your wood with it. So now, Frigidaire will have me jacked up for months trying to get my floor fixed. Just like they did for the 6 weeks prior. So folks, if you see a Frigidaire fridge in rebuilt condition, look to see if it has a nickname. Because at Frigidaire and the purchasing store and both repair centers, it is known as, ** Up. I wanted to draw a pair on and tell them guys to lay it in the truck on its back. I thought it was only fitting.

We purchased our Frigidaire FFH17f7WH upright freezer on 12/8/08 from our local Best Buy. On 10/11/13, the high freezer temp buzzer went off. After thorough investigation, it was determined that the unit lost Freon, making it not worth repairing. 5 years for the life of a freezer working under ideal conditions? Thankfully, we have a 15-year-old Frigidaire upright freezer that we were able to transfer our food to. My mother owns a Frigidaire freezer that leaves a water stream on and off every month or so. She has an extended warranty and the guy comes out and does very little and it's good for another few months. That's not that bad but recently I've been hearing a buzzing sound in the kitchen and was afraid wiring in the walls was going bad. Couldn't figure out where the noise was coming from. This lasted a few weeks until a few days ago I awoke to an electrical burning smell. I went down to the kitchen and couldn't find where it was coming from. Decided to unplug the freezer and called contractor that redid kitchen to check wiring. He told me wall wiring should be good and to try plugging freezer back in to see if smell returned. Few hours later, plugged back in and small flame and smoke came out back of freezer. Glad I caught the smell before fire caught wood panel behind freezer. Serviceman came today and said relay had shorted out. Kind of afraid to have the unit repaired but will watch it closely. It is 10 years old but my mother keeps renewing service contract so will keep fingers crossed.

Bought an upright freezer 11 months ago. About 3 months ago, the freezer started making a terrible noise, which stopped after about an hour. Then the temp started dropping in the freezer. Called numbers from 12-month warranty info and finally got a local repairman who came out within 4 hours, went right to the electronic control panel which was defective. Said it was a common problem. I lost most of the sweet items (ice cream, frozen berries, etc) but saved meats. After changing out the panel, the unit would not circulate and he determined that the fan was frozen (something about the defrost cycle) so we had to unload all the items while he got things thawed out. He was great and did his job.
From our conversation about the failures of the electronic panel on the door of the freezer, I thought I had better look into an extended warranty. Frigidaire was right on target and I received an unsolicited sales promotional pitch in the mail that week. I filled it out for a three-year extended warranty and sent it in that week. Yesterday I got an identical promotional mailing about the warranty. I first thought it was confirmation of my warranty but no, just a duplicate of the one I had responded to earlier. I hesitated to send in a second one and end up with two charges so I decided to call them. NOT A PHONE NUMBER anywhere on the three pages of sales pitch!
I found the number online, and called. My order for the extended warranty had been DECLINED! They said my credit card had expired, although it was actually good for over another year. No, they didn't send out notices that they had declined. I am attempting to renew either by phone or be resending the application I just received. I have a feeling I will be needing the extended coverage.... My ice cream is very soft again! Not a user friendly way to get extended coverage, or maybe they really don't want to extend the coverage....You think?

As of this writing, I'm contacting the Georgia state attorney general, as well as the Better Business Bureau. I bought a 24.9 cubic foot chest freezer (Frigidaire) online on 5/13/10 from US-ABC Appliance. I bought an extended warranty with your company contract ** coverage through 5/13/2013. On or around 7/3/2012-7/4/2012, the freezer failed (the alarm went off, the compressor overheating and temperature rising past 32 F). I called the extended warranty line, which gave me two "authorized" service people (under the first work order number **). The first one, Dellostritto, in Auburn, NY was unavailable. I called and was put on hold for 10 minutes, then got an auto voicemail telling me the company would be closed all week.
I called the 2nd company, the name given to me was United Radio, East Syracuse, which told me they never worked on Frigidaires before. Why is this company an "authorized service provider" then? I had to rush off to buy two portions of dry ice, as recommended by the appliance manual in case of disrepair. One on July 5th, the next on July 9th (45 minutes one way from my home, costing 3 hours of work time) and pay $86 for it.
The inexperienced repair person told me that he never worked on this before. My husband, who is an HVAC technician, immediately sensed that he didn't know what he was doing, didn't troubleshoot and didn't have a clue other than there was a refrigerant leak. Two more weeks passed, I have to find some place to put all my freezer items (totally full and inventoried the month before). The part came in and the experienced repairman from United Radio wanted to start "Frankenstein-ing" in my practically brand new freezer by adding a bulky external condenser, not knowing if in fact it will fix the freezer!
I finally had had enough so I called to get the second work order from your company (**) in hopes of getting a repairman who knows what he's doing. After many denials (my home is out of their service area, they don't work with extended warranties, no wonder, etc.), I called a well-known and reliable appliance store and service place. I asked if they do authorized warranty Frigidaire work. They do. Reister's of Auburn and Canandaigua came out, took the freezer to their shop, said it's a low end leak and the external condenser wouldn't have end it, and that it needs to be replaced under warranty!
We are now up to August 6th by now, so paperwork was faxed to your company. I was told that I am responsible for shipping costs, etc. and that it will take 7-10 business days to receive a new freezer. I called today, 8/16, as it will be 10 business days as of tomorrow. I talked to Angela, who has no knowledge of my freezer getting replaced. I went through the ordeal of explaining this whole nightmare to her and she said she'll place the replacement order for me. At this point, I want my money back - all $629 of it. I will do whatever it takes to get my money back.

I have a freezer that is less than a year old. It died while under warranty and while the technician confirmed that it was a manufacturing defect, Frigidaire completely washes its hands of the $300 worth of lost food. I know that they indicate in their warranty information that they do not cover food spoilage, but just because they say it is so, it doesn't mean it is so. The statement is self-serving. It is not law.
The purchase agreement (i.e. the sales contract) says nothing about this. It is only once you receive the product and owner's manual that you find this out. Their product failed. The result of their product's failure is lost food, not to mention that I can no longer have confidence storing other food in the piece of garbage they call a freezer. They should be held responsible. Customer service has been beyond rude, unhelpful and downright aggressive in this whole process. For shame Electrolux. Way to stick it to the little guy.

I purchased a Frigidaire model # LFFH21F7HWG on 6/26/2011 at Lowe’s in Antioch. In mid-December we started noticing problems, (although I had mentioned all along that the freezer ran continually and for an Energy Star this seemed funny). We had it filled completely with vegetables we had put up from our garden along with some meat. I specifically purchased an enclosed model with an alarm as we were planning to put our butchered steer in it in the spring. I called Lowe’s who sent out the repair tech, who ordered the parts and repaired it within approximately a 2 week period. I was not dissatisfied at all with Lowe’s Customer Service.
Within a few days, the temp started rising again. This time the internal condensing coil system was replaced with an external system, failure again within a week or so. This time it was Freon leaking. Repaired, replaced all the food back in the freezer again. Thank Goodness we still had our 22 year old White Westinghouse chest freezer, no longer Energy Star but reliable as they come! Failure again within 10 days and this time it’s the compressor. We paid under $800 dollars and Frigidaire spent over $3,500 trying to repair this piece of junk. Where is the sense in that?
Here we are the end of April and I was just informed yesterday that we have been approved to have a replacement and the information will be at the local Lowe’s within 48 hours. I will not be buying a Frigidaire! I must say, though, that we have always had Frigidaire refrigerators (including our first, a hand me down 1950's) and we have never had problems. We currently have 3 and very satisfied. Freezers are another story. Lowe’s customer service was fantastic, Frigidaire, not so good.

He also stated that evidently, the compressor will go out. He said the light turns off on the freezer side determines the defrosting of the freezer and will cause the frost free freezing to go bad.
Frigidaire claims he should be able to fix the problem and gives us no hope of the future problems that may occur. We have also had to replace our fridge. In January 2011, I purchased a Frigidaire upright freezer from Lowe's, including a four year Extended Protection Plan (EPP). Upon returning from a weekend away from our home, we realized that the freezer had stopped working. We called Lowe's Service Advantage (the Lowe's division that provides EPP support), who immediately scheduled a repair appointment. I was also advised that, because of my four year EPP purchase, Lowe's would provide reimbursement for up to $250.00 of lost goods as a result of the freezer failing.
My wife re-adjusted her schedule to be home for the service appointment. The Lowe's sub-contractor never showed for the appointment. We contacted Service Advantage again, and we scheduled a second appointment. Again, no show (service technician called from 30 minutes away, 20 minutes after the appointment window had closed). The Service Advantage team recommended that we go back to our home Lowe's store to work out a replacement for the freezer. We did this, and the store manager immediately scheduled for a delivery of a new freezer for the next day.
The freezer was delivered on time and the old freezer was taken away. I attempted, on three different occasions, to work with the Lowe's executive support division in an attempt to identify the problem (sub-contractor not showing for scheduled appointments); discuss the business policy that fails to compensate customers whose time is wasted when a sub-contractor doesn't show up for an appointment (Service Advantage wasn't able to compensate our lost time - we were referred to the Executive support division) and the fact that, because of the relationship between the sub and Lowe's, there is no accountability to the customer when this type of event occurs.

I purchased a Frigidaire Upright Freezer, Model LFFU17F5HW from Lowe's on 30 Jan 2011. The freezer was delivered on 31 Jan 2011 and I filled it with $1050 worth of grass-fed beef on 1 Feb 2011. I set the alarm and the freezer temperature on the electronic door panel on that same day. Over the next 3 weeks, I accessed the freezer on 04 Feb, 12 Feb, and 19 Feb to retrieve frozen meat from it and it appeared to be working fine. On 26 Feb 2011, when I went to the freezer to take out meat, I discovered blood leaking out of the bottom and pooled on the floor and upon opening the door, all I had was a stinking, thawed, dripping, bloody mess of meat inside. The outside electronic panel on the freezer door was black - no display at all. At no time did the freezer alarm ever sound to alert me to a problem with this freezer.
An initial call to Lowe's for assistance was answered with "You should have purchased the 'extended warranty'. We can do nothing to help you". I quickly pointed out to this Lowe's "customer service" rep that I had the paperwork for the Frigidaire extended warranty already signed, check enclosed, sealed, stamped, and ready to mail on that very same day as I was still within the 30-day window after my purchase to buy Frigidaire's extended warranty. I then requested for the Lowe's manager. When he came on the line and took the time to really listen to my entire problem and allowed me to tell him that I had already decided to purchase the Frigidaire extended warranty, but that I was still within their 30-day 'grace period' to do so after purchase of the freezer - and that no freezer should completely fail in so short a period of time, he agreed with me.
He then immediately sent out a replacement freezer, arranged for the spoiled meat to be picked up, and then the Lowe's delivery truck returned later that same day to pick up the failed freezer. The Lowe's manager gave me the necessary information regarding my claim #, explained that Frigidaire would be in contact with me within 1-2 days regarding both their failed, less-than-30-days-old freezer - as well as discussing the possible replacement of my $1050 worth of meat.
Since I now have no meat to place in the replacement freezer which Lowe's sent right out (the very same model as the one that failed), I have not begun to use this freezer yet. I am still waiting to hear from Frigidaire, the manufacturer of the failed freezer. Until I can determine whether Frigidaire will handle this matter honorably and equitably or not, I am unsure whether I will even keep this replacement freezer. I am very uncomfortable at this point in time with spending even more money to refill the replacement freezer with new meat, when I can't be sure yet whether this particular model may be a potential recall model or have some other manufacturing problem.
I posted this report today about my bad Frigidaire freezer experience simply to alert other potential buyers to a possible problem with this particular model number - as well as to try to learn more from other actual consumers about Frigidaire's usual policy for dealing with a problem like this one. I'm still waiting to hear whether Frigidaire is going to do the honorable and equitable thing about their defective product. I will post back again, if and when I hear from Frigidaire.

I purchased an upright freezer that quit working, model number LFFH21F7HW. It's only 4 months old. I then checked out reviews at the website and it's noted that out of 31 people only 13 will recommend this. I've seen many similar problems as mine. This freezer is made like junk.

I have a Frigidaire GLFU1767FW upright freezer that is 3 years old. It has the electronic temperature controls on the door. From opening and closing the door (normal use), the enclosed wire that goes to the door was damaged. I had repair service out and they informed me that since the door for that model is a molded door, they can't replace the wire. They have to replace the whole door.
I think that this is a very poor design and customer service at Frigidaire doesn't care because it is off warranty. The service rep suggested that I buy a service contract and then have it fixed. She transferred me to the Warranty Department and there I was informed that I would need service to inspect the freezer before I can purchase the warranty. I don't lie or expect others to lie and jeopardize their business. I went to their website and filed a complaint but haven't heard anything yet. I had a freezer that was 20 years old and was convinced to replace it for energy reasons and I could kick myself because it worked.

I bought a Frigidaire top freezer 2 years ago from Aaron's and it is not working now. It runs but the freezer is all thawed and inside the refrigerator is warm. I paid almost $1500.00 for this. I am very upset with this and Aaron's will not do anything about it for us. I will never buy another Frigidaire item again.

I bought an upright Frigidaire freezer from best buy less then a year ago. After a couple of months, the door would night close. The seal wasn't holding. Then just the other day, I noticed the freezer was making a loud noise. I opened the door and all my food had defrosted. I had about $500.00 worth. I called Customer service. The lady said, I would have to wait till Saturday for a service visit. What about my food, I said. It has all defrosted and I don't know how long. Sir, she said. You should have bought our extended warranty. Would you have sent a service person tonight. No, she said. It would still be Saturday.
The Frigidaire freezer is not what it used to be. The quality must have gone down and the name Frigidaire has been bought by Electrolux. When this is repaired, and I'm hoping it will, I will never buy a Frigidaire again. Please don't make the same mistake, The reason I bought the freezer was for dependability. I do not trust the name anymore. Great food. Too bad I won't enjoy it. Food spoiled. Freezer failed. Product default.

I hardly know where to begin; I am so disappointed in your product and customer service. The problem is a minor one, a plastic part broke in my ice maker and now ice cubes fall back in the tray causing the motor to grind away trying to push the jammed ice through. I tried to call and get a warranty person to come and look at it, but one said that he didn't service my zip code and the other was a fax machine. That is when I called customer service. Five times. The first time was useless; I was put on hold while the customer rep "called" the two numbers. The call was dropped, I first thought no big deal it happens, so I called back the next day and got a hold of a different rep.
Same deal, they said they would call and amazingly the call was dropped again. I waited for a few days and called again, the same speech about how I couldn't get a hold of a warranty repair place. I was put on hold again and amazingly the rep came back on the line confirmed my story and told me they would transfer me to "the warranty department" where I was told that they would contact me in a few days with a name and number of an actual warranty service person. Like an idiot I agreed and waited a few days and to my surprise no phone call. I called again and decided to take a harder line. I spoke to Raphael and gave them my model and serial number (again), contact information (again), told them my story (again), he called the numbers (again), confirmed my story (again) and referred me to "the warranty department" (again).
I requested to speak to a supervisor and was connected to Dennis. We went over the whole process again and I was assured that I would get a phone call from him personally with contact information to a warranty repair service. I had to demand that I be given a ticket number or a customer service number. My number is **. No surprises here, a week went by with no call. So I called again and gave the customer rep (Raphael) my number and was promptly told that there was no information in it. I requested to speak to a supervisor at this point. After ten minutes, I was connected to Sam. I could repeat all the information I gave him, but hopefully you get the point by now. I had to repeat the model number and serial number multiple times and made him read them back to me until they were correct. He called the numbers of the warranty services and told me that he was able to contact one of them and told me that they would call back to confirm the appointment. Amazingly when I called for my self again, no fax tones and the person who answered confirmed that Sam had indeed spoken with them.
The sad truth is, I shouldn't have to make multiple phone calls, speak to supervisors, and be surprised when these people who you pay to do a job actually to that job. I can understand a minor defect in a product, it happens. I can not; however, fathom how customer service can be so poor and remain like it is. Your customer service alone has deterred me from ever buying another one of your products again. Warranty service should be simple and easy not an ordeal trying to deal with customer reps who refuse to help and don't seem to care too much, other that to say how sorry they are before they blow me off.Hardly any economic or physical other than the sheer frustruation of the process.

I purchased a Frigidaire upright freezer four years ago and this will be the third time in four years that the compressor has went out. Luckily, my wife caught it in time or we would have lost around $500 worth of beef that we purchased a month ago. I think I have purchased a very inferior product. We have lost beef before.

I purchased upright Frigidaire freezer at Lowe's on December 28, 2007. It ran all the time and when warm weather came, ice from the top of the door starts falling down on my head. Frost was building up on the top of the door and because it was above my head, I had not noticed it. After months of hassle with Frigidaire and delays waiting for parts, it was repaired on December 16, 2008. Now is July 2009 and the door will not stay closed even with tape on it. Trying to contact Frigidaire is a round robin of press this which lead to call this and then press this and call this. You never get anyone on the line. I have sent them an e-mail. I will follow up with a letter in a couple of days.

We purchased a Frigidaire refrigerator from an appliance store in April of 2009. On June 28, we noticed that everything in the freezer was defrosted. The repairman came on June 30 and found that the compressor, the motor and the blade were all broken. This fridge is 2 months old! Fortunately, the fridge is still under warranty, but we will be without a freezer for at least a week and we lost all of the food that was in there.
