The agent that came was very thorough. She gave us a heads-up what to expect through the process, and she was always available for questions and any updates that we had during the moving process. From the house we were moving from, it took about six hours to load, then it was delivered two days later. It also took about six hours to unload. It was the same guy, and he was really good. There wasn't any adjustment to the initial quote too.

It has been 4 days and no contact from ANYONE. Not even a email or phone call of my suggested delivery date. I have AirTags all on the furniture and it is just sitting in some storage space like they don't care about my belongings and need of my stuff .. Horrible experience.

CVL has been an awful experience. I was promised by ****, when I initially booked that CVL does not broker loads. That is a straight up LIE. My load was brokered from **** to ****, not once but twice. First upon pick up, then when it was picked up from a storage unit in ****. Pienel called me and gave me a pick up date, then the movers showed up a day early, packed half my stuff, dropped into a storage unit and came back the next day. Not only did my initial quote double, but my items were moved 4 times by delivery. Because I did not have a home, I had to have my items placed into a storage unit. Big items were in moving blankets, and I was told I would have to unwrap each item if I wanted to make sure nothing was broken. I did not have the time or manpower to wrap and unwrap everything. Then I was told they would unwrap everything, but they would need to take the moving blankets or I could buy them.
I was a hostage at this point, paying double the original quote and another $600 for moving blankets. I had also requested a weight ticket upon arrival of items and drop off. Multiple phone calls to **** and Pienel, about a week later some tickets were emailed. THIS COMPANY IS A BAIT AND SWITCH. I am out $14K more than I was quoted. Do not use them as movers. I was contacted 3 weeks later by the resolutions manager who offered a settlement, but was insistent I change my reviews. When I told her I would think about it, she said she would present the settlement to her boss and get back to me. 2 months later still no call back for a settlement.

I had problems with the quote being raised when it was promised that it would not be, as long as the inventory stayed the same. This was very troublesome but the Resolutions Manager, Donna, was able to fix it! I just had to stay in touch with her until she got it all sorted out.
Original Review: June 12, 2023
They attempted to raise the price of the move substantially after promising three times to stick to the estimate without raising the price as long as the inventory remained the same. Specifically stated to three people that there would be no added charge for a higher weight. We have no way of knowing if the weight was actually higher, but we were assured that there would be no increase for weight. We went over the items to be shipped carefully so I am suspicious of the claim of higher weight, but since we were promised no rise in price that would not be pertinent. This promise was witnessed by three people. Instead, I received a call from a man who threatened to store my things, not releasing them to me, and charge for that storage until I paid more. Completely failed to honor the agreement made. Threatened me with taking possession of my items until I paid an amount that violated the agreement.
We are glad to hear that Donna was able to assist in reaching an amicable resolution. We want to wish you all the best at your new location and in all your future endeavors. Thank you.

We were originally told that everything we would do would be done by a credit card. I asked them if there was an outside trucking company. Colonial Van Lines said it was through them. But when the truck came to pick up stuff, I had to give him a check. So, I was a little confused about that, but at I least have the receipts. Colonial sent me the final invoice for everything, which ended up being a little more than what it was originally. And they never put the payment that I gave the trucking company. So, I told them I would not assign that invoice because I was not comfortable.
We got that straight. My stuff finally got delivered. But they had cockroach carcasses all throughout my stuff. So, it was an outside entity. They said they would give me 5% off if I paid cash. I said to the guy, “If I pay you cash, I need a receipt.” But he told, they don't give receipts. But why would I give him cash if I don't have some kind of receipt? It doesn't make sense. So, I texted the kid that I had doing it for me and said, “Make sure you get a receipt. Write something down on a piece of paper and have him sign it that it was paid.” He didn't do it. The guy said we had an agreement and that it would be done over email. They kept sending me an invoice saying I owe this money. They finally got it straight. But it was very stressful on my part. I will never use them again.

I left a message specifying my needs, and one of their managers called me back really quickly and offered good service to me. They gave me several calls to ask about what kind of stuff I have. They did a weight estimate. During the actual move, it was all right. Very decent and fine. But there was a hiccup at the end. They sent me the wrong receipt. It didn't reflect my payment. I've been calling about them for a week. Yesterday, I finally got a positive answer from the customer care service department that they would send me my final receipt tomorrow.

When I call and talk to them, I like the responses I get. They were very straightforward with the pricing. They had a video of our home where they could see what was there that needed to be moved. So, the movers knew what to expect and there weren't any surprises. We were pleased with everything. There was one misunderstanding with the timing but we worked through it. They were accommodating.

The service representative was very good. She was very responsive, and every time I contacted her, she would get back in touch with me. The movers were good too. They wrapped some stuff up for me, and they were very quick. Everything arrived in good condition, except there was a painting missing and the screen on my elliptical is cracked. I got in touch with my representative, but I haven't heard back from her. It's been a couple of days, and I hope that I will hear back from her.

I called a couple places, then I called Colonial and spoke with Joe a couple of times. He took the time to explain how the industry works. I trusted him and it worked out the way he said it would. They already picked up my stuff before they let me know, and it was almost here before I knew it was coming. It was fast, and the pricing was a lot less than I was finding anywhere else. In fact, it was half the price of one of the places.
I always had good communication as well. The girl who helped me kept me up to date on the status and what was going on. She called me enough to let me know and told me when she would call me again. In the meantime, I didn't have to worry and call anybody. I was pleased with Colonial. They were very helpful, and they listened to me, did what I asked them to do and unloaded efficiently. The only area for improvement is letting me know when it was gonna depart and arrive, but that's the nature of the business. They can piece together multiple shipments that form a route that makes sense, then they'll do it, and I get that.

I did a lot of research and I read all the reviews and I liked Colonial. The customer service reps were wonderful. Daniel and another gentleman kept in contact with me every day during the whole process. I appreciate all their help. The two gentlemen that packed up everything and loaded up the truck were absolutely wonderful. The movers who came to Florida and unloaded the truck were wonderful, too. They took good care of the furniture. They put some of the furniture back in place. I can't speak highly of the whole experience. It was kind of delayed a little bit. They ran into trouble with somebody else that they were moving, but they called and they were very nice. One time, they wanted to come at 9:00 at night. I said, "Listen, my mom is already in bed and there is no way that can happen." They were like, "No problem, no problem. Can we come at 7:30 in the morning?" I said, "Absolutely."
They were here at 7:30 in the morning. They unloaded everything in about two and a half hours, and that's with putting mirrors back on the dresser and things like that. The final cost was reasonable. They gave me a discount because of the delays. They were very accommodating and given a discount because of that situation. So, I'm pleased. I would recommend a friend. The people that were in the office were calling me everyday and asked me questions. They asked me if I needed anything, let me know what was going on, when they were picking the furniture up, and when they were gonna deliver it. It was great communication.

The rep answered my questions, kept in touch, and acted as the touchstone for me so I know who to go to. The moving crew was great and did what they needed to do very professionally and quickly. But I was told that the window for the crew picking things up was a day. I wanted it on the 9th but they were gonna come either on the 9th or the 10th. They told me that a few days before. When they were gonna drop it off, it was a 12-day window and that felt like a long time especially because they weren't going to let me know when it was going to be until 24 hours before they were gonna show up. So, I couldn't schedule anything or make any plans. I needed to keep all of those days open just in case they were going to come that day. As it turned out, they came very early in the window.

Moving from California to Idaho. Do not hire this company they destroyed an Estimated $3000.00 of our furniture and appliances and if you do not buy their insurance, they only offer .60 cents a pound for replacement, this is an insult. They had a posted 9.6 Rating so I figured they have to be doing something right, so based on that rating I did not buy insurance and thought why do I need to, this company will take care of our precious hard earned items, boy was I wrong. What a scam. They took apart my daughter's bike to supposedly save space and in the process destroyed it had the bike for week before this move (Brand New). They took apart furniture and then lost the hardware.
We had a box full of items my wife got throughout her cancer treatment and are non-replaceable given as gifts were all shattered and broken. Half of our boxes were smashed or torn and thrown around. Is moving the customer's items safely and complete not part of this company's agenda. Pathetic! Broken monitors, TVs, keepsakes, bikes, heaters, My Arcade Cabinet, a Water Dispenser, parts of the shelves we had were missing the parts to put them back together, and the list goes on.
Horrible customer service, very rude when I complained and made all kinds of empty promises and they were three weeks late delivering our stuff with a measly $30 dollars a day compensation, because of this I lost work due to their delays. We slept on an air mattress for three weeks. Had to purchase 1500.00 worth of clothes/blankets/toiletries due to winter in Idaho at the time just to stay warm since the bulk of this stuff was on the truck somewhere. If there was a negative scale or no star I would give them that. By the way they will charge you $30 dollars for an empty 5 Gal Water Bottle to go on the truck. My initial estimate went from 5,000 dollars to a final price of 9,600.00 upon delivery. They also had us sign all of our stuff was in good condition upon arrival, what was I supposed to do go through 200 boxes while they stood there and waited. What was I supposed to do not pay, then they would have not delivered our stuff.
This is a scam company. We filed a claim and they insisted that it was our fault in the packing process that my 65" tv was broken when I bought an 80.00 TV Box From Home Depot just to avoid this from happening. They still managed to break it. They broke a 32" Monitor packed in Bubble Wrap packed in clothes inside a box and still broke it, you should have seen the box after they moved it. My Arcade cabinet they cracked the glass on the face of the cabinet, even though I double wrapped it in moving blankets. Then it took 4 months to have them offer me $260.00 Total as a settlement. What an insult. That will barely buy a new Bike for my Daughter. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!

Setting up with Colonial was easy. The rep wanted to know what I had. He was marking it down as I went along. My husband thought the quote was too high, so the guy that I was speaking with said, “I'll get you over to my manager.” When the manager came on the line, she spoke directly with my husband and she offered us a lower rate. It was really good.
They were also professional because they came right in and did what they were supposed to do. They disassembled and packaged the big things, like the mirrors, my Peloton, the bedding and big pictures. They took care of all of those. They also put them back together when they got to the new place. They also got all their work done in a short amount of time.
Our team would like to thank you for the effort made in sharing your experience with the public. As household movers, we appreciate the opportunity to have played a role in your relocation and we wish you all the best in your new location.

The Colonial agent I talked to was very helpful, concerned and followed up on everything. It all went smoothly. I had to change the date once and there was no problem with that. They kept me informed with either emails or calls. My only problem was there was a two-day window and we really wanted it the other day, but they had to come on the day that fit into the window. But that worked out. The driver was just a little bit late, but he called me and told me he was gonna be a little bit late. Otherwise, they came for the pickup right when they said they were gonna be there.
They came in and we had everything marked with little stickers that we wanted them to move so that we would make sure we got everything. They walked all around and checked out what everything was before they started putting anything on the truck so that they would put it in the order they wanted it all. They started wrapping and everything was good. They were done in a couple of hours. They also carried everything into the house, secured things in the house, and put up bumpers around things. They were very considerate. I had the checklist and every time they came in with something, we stopped at the door and checked it off of their list and my list. Made sure we had everything that was on the list in the house. They also put it wherever I asked them to put it.

Annie, the person who sold me on Colonial Van Lines, was fantastic and very helpful. I liked getting the emails reminding of stuff to do before the move. The driver of the move, Lou, was very helpful as well. He gave me a lot of advice on what to do if I needed to take an extra day. The only gripe I have is that, in order for me to have them wait with my stuff for a single day, rather than just putting the trailer somewhere and having the driver take a different trailer, it would have been an extra $1,700 to put it into storage and take it out.
At some point Colonial Van Lines led me to believe it would be $250 or so if I had to use a day of storage from them. Then, I came to find out that it had become this whole big rigmarole and they would have to get another driver to be available. One of the reasons why I wish I could have had them just wait a day was I ended up having the driver put all of my stuff into a friend's garage. Then, I had to go with a local company in order to move my stuff out of there and into the new house, and that local company was pretty terrible. Granted, they hit me last minute, which was good and I appreciated that. They were also cheaper than expected. But because they had a tight timeline, they didn't put anything where I wanted it to go.
Other than that, Colonial did everything they could to try and accommodate my needs. It was just that the person I was buying from was being difficult. Colonial's reps also helped me pack dishes and they were able to meet my initial timeline. Though I feel like if I kept shopping around, I would have been able to find the same service for a lot cheaper because it was extremely expensive.

We hear horror stories about moving companies, and that was a fear of ours. We always hear that they're gonna charge more than what happened. Our estimate went up $100, but that's expected when they don't know exactly what things weigh or the size. The reps were very thorough and spot-on with their estimates, and we didn’t have any issues our move. The movers were very good. They packed up my whole house in three and a half hours. The guy got out here by himself and unloaded the entire truck by himself. I offered to help. I helped him a little here and there, but he did it all by himself. The driver was excellent.

I accepted Colonial Van Lines' payment for less than half of the value of the guitar and case that was not delivered during a move from AZ to WI. My case manager, Donna, provided excellent service and I really felt like she was an advocate on my behalf.
Original Review: June 5, 2023
• My $1500 Fender Telecaster guitar and matching $229 case were not delivered and are missing. I’m filing a report. Are you going to return my guitar and case or fully compensate me for the loss?
• Our neighbors in Three Lakes are furious that the semi-driver parked on their front lawn and emptied our contents on their lawn to be dollied to our front door. We are negotiating what to do about what the neighbor described as the scene of a dirt bike race. I sent pictures to my salesperson (and video, as well, to the driver two days before he arrived). I was honest and transparent. I knew a “shuttle” truck was the better option but the driver explained that lining up another truck and moving freight between trucks was too big of an inconvenience for him. So now I’ve got an angry new neighbor and am looking at time, effort and expense to make things right. What do you think I should do about this situation?
• When you loaded our possessions in Prescott, AZ the salesperson, **, insisted that we pay for a “shuttle.” When we hired Hollander to move all the contents of our 3,800 sq ft home in IL to a 3,300 sq ft home in AZ, Hollander had no problem parking their semi on the street in front of our house. Ms. ** insisted there was no negotiating on this point. We paid the approximately $300 extra because of your insistence. What do you know that Hollander didn’t know about our home in AZ?
• You discounted the final price because delivery was outside the agreed upon time frame. But because of your uncertainty about delivery dates, my wife rescheduled two doctors’ appointments, only to learn that the shipment was NOT coming on days that you told us. Does missing deadlines you proposed and changing them numerous times, make you more profitable?
• Because of your siloed operating structure, getting straight answers is impossible. At least Ms. ** answered her phone. But when she assures me that she is forwarding my question to someone who can give me answer, I don’t hear back. Why can’t I get to a dispatcher who knows what’s going on with my shipment?
• When I spoke with someone in Finance today, he quoted me a discounted price, but when he sent the revised contract, the price was higher than quoted. Is arithmetic a challenge for your finance department?
• Payment terms are clear as mud. The driver insisted on cash. One Colonial person demanded cash or a postal order. Today, someone said I could use a credit card but discouraged me from doing so because of the steps required. Does everyone at Colonial understand your payment terms and can they communicate them consistently?
We apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced. We would like to speak to you regarding the issues you have experienced. The resolutions manager has been advised, you can also reach her directly at 954-958-2253 so that she can work on your behalf on a resolution for your issues. Thank you.

Colonial Van Lines was very thorough and the most accurate when walking through the inventory list. They had contacted me and asked if we could change the pick-up date, which I was able to accommodate. Instead of being in the morning, they finished at 11:30 at night. So, that was not ideal but they stayed in touch with me. They picked my stuff up on Wednesday, and they kept the delivery date the same, which was Friday. Then, again, it was, “Oh, we'll be there Friday morning.” I couldn't get into the place until Friday afternoon. So, it was like, “Okay. Well, you know, we'll be there early Friday afternoon,” and it ended up being later in the day.
The final cost changed a little bit because I had them do a full pack, and they were like, “Hey, I really need to do this type of box instead of what we had quoted you and stuff.” So, it was very close and I knew ahead of time that it was going to be a little bit over, and that was fine. The only thing on the packing service is, unfortunately, the one box that was crushed was the box of all of the dishes. Some of the stuff that was packed very well was the unbreakable stuff. So, it made me feel like there might have been a little bit of padding where it didn’t need to be wrapped in the paper, but the real box that really needed to be marked fragile and taken care of wasn't. Overall, it was fine.

The moving crew was very efficient. I liked them. But I have a small claim that I'm going to need to put in for some furniture that didn't make it through well. Some furniture and irreplaceable items were damaged. I have something that I bought in West Berlin and it was completely destroyed in the move. I can't replace it. It has a map of Berlin with the Berlin Wall. I picked it up at a major department store and I've contacted them. My best case in getting anything like this is probably going to cost me about $1,000. It was a paper box. I had set it aside and somebody had the wisdom to put all that wrapping tape on it, destroyed the box and ripped off half of the map. I see no way of replacing it short of asking Colonial Van Lines for a roundtrip ticket to United Berlin so that I can try to hunt through all of the stores. It's a historical object and it's gone. But other than that, I'm a very happy camper. I'm satisfied.

I'm sending out my household goods to my son who got himself an apartment and I went through mentally how many boxes I would be packing up for him and how it would all work out. I named the pieces of furniture that I was giving the rep and he made a list. I stressed that the sofa was a sofa bed and a couple of hassocks. I was able to itemize items that way. The movers had me sign the list and the estimate was good because I didn't have an extra charge. What I was told it would cost is what it did indeed cost. It's a chunk. They're going from South Carolina to Minnesota. The person told me the amount of mileage and I know certain amounts of mine in my head and what they said seemed correct. I could have done the same thing online if I wanted to, but I didn't.
The guys came, rolled up their sleeves, and went to work. I had in my living room a whole row lined up of things that they were going to put on the van. In the other room, I had another row. And in the garage, I had another limited area row. So, I could designate. The three areas were well spelled out for them, which facilitated them being out of here in less than two hours, which I had predicted to my kid. They arrived at 4:00 and they were gone by about 5:00. They were in and out fast. They wrapped everything. The guy stood the sofa bed on its side in my den and wrapped it in quilted batting, and then he brought in a box of brown tape. He went through one whole roll of tape to tape the batting around the sofa bed and he did it in five minutes. It was just one single person doing that job. It blew me away.
I had taped my little boxes and the guys came along behind me and did their own taping of boxes. Included in that is an antique dresser, Bird's Eye maple dresser with a fancy mirror attached to the dresser, and I was very fearful about that. I didn't realize at the time that the mirror is meant to come off properly. I was told to have the dresser drawers empty and they were. That was a pain in the neck. But everything arrived safely, including the dresser. That was known immediately because they unwrapped everything when they get there. The moving coordinator was not returning calls. That needs work. Another thing is the moving was good, but the crew damaged some things. I was there when they loaded and I don't think anything was hurt when they loaded, so it had to be during the move or when they unloaded. Colonial said in their contract they'll pay 60 cents per pound. However, they damaged a piece of equipment, a specialized rock cutting saw, and the manufacturer doesn't make make that model anymore. I can't find parts for it. Also, it's thousands of dollars that I lost, so they're not gonna pay for that.

We called Colonial and the guy that I was talking to seemed real nice so we ended up picking them. The account manager was nice to deal with. He seemed concerned about the move and made sure he had everything right in the set. We packed a lot of boxes and then they came in, packed some stuff, and loaded everything up. The guys that came to move were really great. The only downside to the way they do this is that they go through your pictures online when you have your house for sale to see what you're gonna move. Then, we went through item by item and I told them we probably have 100 and some boxes. They said they move up to 150 and we ended up with a quote of like $12,000. It ended up being about $17,000 and they had to use two trucks.
Also, I had told them we couldn't be at the destination till a certain date. They knew this upfront. But then I got a call that said if we were not at the destination, they were gonna have to charge a waiting charge, which pissed me off. They charged me an extra $500 when they knew I wasn't gonna be here. That irritated the hell out of me. The guys that moved us were very nice but I don't know that I would suggest anybody moving because it ended up being almost a third more than what I anticipated it would be. And we found that our bedroom set had a little ding on it. I got a claim form and I haven't filed it yet. But I was dissatisfied because of the cost.

The reps were very friendly. I had a couple of questions and I ended up underestimating my weight. They went through an explanation as to what the additional charges would be, which were very straightforward and understanding. So, the process wasn't stressful at all. We had a transition from people that picked up our furniture to those who delivered it. With both experiences, they did a wonderful job. I recommend Colonial if you have any interstate moving requirements. I'm pleased with the service.

We booked through Colonial but it was not Colonial that came to move us. When their contractor showed up, the truck was not big enough so they were not gonna be able to load. Plus, they found out that we had way more stuff than they thought. If they had come on Monday and started packing on Monday, they would have known and would have packed well on Monday and Tuesday, and then loaded on Wednesday. But because they waited and didn't come till Tuesday, they were rushed. We could tell that the stuff that was left till the end was not packed as well as the stuff on the first day. Other than that, the moving crew was absolutely great. They worked the whole time they were there and did a wonderful job. They wrapped everything. If we had boxes that were already packed, they re-taped them so that they would make sure they wouldn't bust out.
This was my first move. We were doing this over the phone and I didn't know that we needed to be specific like for a queen bed, you need to put, "I have a headboard, a footboard, a mattress. You need to go through everything, because when you say, queen bed, they only think mattress, that's it. They have a list of items that would go in the living room, and they would go, "Okay, you have a couch?" And you say, "Yes, I have a two-seater couch or a three-seater..." They would do big things, like "How big is your TV?" that kind of thing. But there are so many little things that you have in your house that you don't think about. Like if you have a big vase that sits on the floor with flowers in it, you don't necessarily think about that. And when you say rugs, "How many rugs in your house? And what size are those rugs?" Or every single picture you have hanging on your wall, they're like, "Oh, it's a picture pack." "Well, I don't know what the hell a picture pack means. How many pictures does that mean? What size does that mean?"
So, they need to just tell people that we need to come to your house. But people want an instant quote. And then, when they hear the number, you're like, "Oh, yes, that's great," not knowing that, when they actually get here, it is going to be a lot more. But I was very happy with the service. I can't blame them for not understanding how the move completely worked.

Colonial Van Lines gave me a pretty decent quote. I checked with a couple of others and Colonial was competitive with what they were gonna charge for the shipping box that I had to pack myself. It was a little more expensive, but it was pretty competitive. They had a fairly quick turnaround on when I needed it, and then when they could deliver it because it was all on the East Coast. It was North Carolina to just South of Atlanta, Georgia and the company that picked it up was out of Atlanta. My moving coordinator was pretty good and I changed the dates and he accommodated me changing it to an earlier pickup without any issues.
The only thing is they subcontract the pickup to someone else. The other company was fairly late. They were supposed to show up on a Monday, and didn't show up. They didn't call until after the time when they were supposed to be there to say, "Hey, we're not gonna be there. We need to reschedule." Even on the day they rescheduled, they were over eight hours late. Other than that, my interactions with Colonial were good.

We spoke to Colonial Van Lines and the reps seemed to know what they were talking about. They took our furniture from this house up to the other house in South Carolina. We gave them a full list of everything we were taking and they gave us a price. They turned up and two hours later, the van was full and all done. Everything went smoothly. It was great. We were slightly overweight and it increased the price marginally, but we were quite happy with what they quoted and what they did.
The only other thing is, we're still waiting for a refund which we still have not received. We paid an extra $500 to build the beds up and when the guys got there, they said they couldn't do that. They said they were going somewhere else after and they haven't got time. They just dropped everything off and we unpacked everything. I ended up building the beds myself. But it's no big deal. We spoke to Colonial and they said they would send a refund.

Colonial Van Lines couldn't have been more communicative and they constantly were in touch with us. Billy and Marcus were the two head people, and they had the other two people that worked with them. The office was excellent. The person that sold us the service was awesome all the way through to the end. Some of the movers were entertaining. They did a good job and the price was one of the best that we could've had. It was a wonderful experience as far as the coordination was concerned. We couldn't have been happier.
The movers came in with the largest truck I've seen, and everybody knew their job. Billy was the driver and he was hyper. We got to know him well, missed him when they left. One was an excellent packer. And they all worked together as a big team. Two of them got stomach flu and had to postpone one day, which we understood. But they made up for it the next day. They came in early and stayed until they finished.
They always checked everything and made sure we were aware from the beginning of when we signed up to the inventory, all the way through until after the move. We've had 12 phone calls after the move to be sure we were happy and satisfied, if there was anything they could do that we needed to have them do. There were a couple of blunders, but nothing major and whatever we needed, they were always willing to work and make it happen. We enjoyed that team. We would recommend Colonial Van Lines to others.

With Colonial Van Lines, all the expectations that were set were accurate. The quote matched exactly the service that they provided, and it was clear and concise. The service was a pack and move altogether, and the crew was friendly and respectful of the area. They were late for a bunch of stuff, which delayed the move, and I didn't feel like they took the role all that seriously. But at the end of the day, they did a decent job. There was a little damage to a couple of things and there was nothing huge, but when I reported about it via phone calls, there was no follow-up. So, overall, my opinion of Colonial is affected by that because it was disappointing that everything went so well, then when it came time to making something right, they didn't really do anything about it. They should have a little better issue resolution.

I have used a lot of moving companies over the years and they are often shady. Even these other moving companies would look at Colonial Van Lines and say "Man, those guys are complete frauds". I should start by saying that Colonial didn't actually do my move, they contracted this company called "Re Moving America LLC". Both of these companies must be in on the racket, and I'm assuming Colonial probably uses other companies as well to participate in their schemes.
The first major issue is that they did the initial quote using their estimated number of pounds. It turns out when they actually "weighed" my move (if they actually weigh it, I wouldn't be surprised if they just pick a much bigger number out of thin air), it was about 1,000 pounds, or over 30%, heavier than their original estimate. That alone added about $900 to my original estimate. So either they are terrible at estimating weight or they are fraudulent at estimating weight, you can decide.
Secondly, immediately when they got to my location for pickup AND delivery, they started trying to add charges that weren't in my contract. These included shrink wrap on my couch and other items that were priced at about $50 an item. When I told them that I didn't want or need those services, they told me that they would not move those items then. I then had to make different calls to the moving company and finally had to have someone from the company call the foreman to tell him to move the stuff and not add the extra charges. It was exhausting to try to fight all of the extra bogus charges they wanted to add and I had to let some of them through so that the move could actually get going. Then on delivery, the leader said that it would be $75 for a "long carry", even though the door to my new building was right next to their truck. I should have literally had them measure it to prove that it was a "long carry" but it was again too exhausting to fight.
To top it all off, they also charged me almost $1,000 in "storage" fees because they tried to deliver my stuff on Sunday when I had told them that my building didn't allow weekend moves. I have submitted a BBB complaint to try to fight that charge. And, oh yeah, they broke my lamp during the move, so their work was shoddy as well. On the plus side, they surprisingly didn't demand my wallet at gunpoint when they left, but I'm sure that's in their business plan too if they don't get enough of your money in their usual fraudulent ways. Bottom line, when they give you their first estimate, at least double it and perhaps triple it. If that still seems like a reasonable price, then consider rolling the dice with Colonial for your move.

Then they said, “Well, it may be in storage for a while before we have a truck going that way.” It actually went faster than it was supposed to.
To not know that Colonial is kinda like the frontman for these other companies was a little bit disappointing. If I would have known that that was the situation, I would have been okay with it. I didn't like not knowing and thinking that I was hiring one entity instead of three entities, but overall, things went really well. The guy who delivered was good, but he had a really hard time finding somebody to help him because it was raining. All they would do was tell me that they would give me a range and the range was 19 to 22 days. I didn't have any option about that. But they called and touched base with me on several occasions. So I like that. The moving crew was polite enough. I didn't find any problems with them except for later when I was unpacking, I found a lot of trash that was wrapped and put in the boxes. I reached out to a couple of companies and got quotes but Colonial was the cheapest of them and they were more open about what the quote entailed regarding the packing and how much square footage I would need. That was kind of the big thing when you're doing a big move and with them being more open made me more confident to reach out to them.
The Colonial folks who came out on moving day were professional and on time and they quickly got to work, moving my boxes into the big truck. We had a little bit of trouble with the larger items -- mainly the washer, dryer, and the fridge, because I was required to disconnect them and they didn't tell me ahead of time that I was the one responsible for disconnecting my appliances. I wasn't particularly thrilled about that but it was not the biggest deal in the world. They also helped with some of the smaller items that I had thought they'd be able to take in the truck as they are. They found ways to make it work without having to charge too much extra for services and the boxes. Also, it didn't take them too long. They quoted me 10 hours and we were done in about six hours. They were fairly efficient.
Things didn't really go to plan. I was informed that the quote that I received wouldn't be set because there was no walkthrough done prior, which is something that I would have preferred but it wasn't an option that was offered to me. It's hard to get a feel for poundage and how many boxes I was going to have. Doing it over the phone doesn't really help much. That was a bit of a negative. Ultimately, I was told I didn't have to pay for any additional poundage but it did cost me a considerable amount extra for boxes and other items that I didn't think I needed due to not having that walkthrough.
I was anxious to get my stuff moved because I was trying to get my items in Alabama the same day I closed or the next day. Colonial gave me a one week range and they were able to deliver the day after that my target days so that wasn't too bad. And they worked with me on the fact that under normal circumstances, I would have had to pay storage. They waived the storage fee because it would have been for one day. I told them I'm not paying $2,000 for one day of storage. I wish the dates would have been a little bit more well-defined but I understand that it's how that type of industry works. Overall, they did a good job and they were responsive and had a good competitive price.

Horrible experience moving… Company quoted a price near half of actual price… Nickel and dimed for minimal packing and wrapping which was done in shoddy fashion. Driver likely illegal and subcontracted. He tried everything in his power to find a problem in moving adding to stress.. First they added long carry charges on both ends of move without fair warning during quote… During move on departure driver arrives with wife and takes unreal amount of time to move 2 bedroom apt of stuff into truck. He complained about everything and its difficulty for something as trivial as 2 bedroom move.. On departure he got to end and said there wasn't enough room on truck for last few items like bed mattress so he puts them on back of lift of truck and ties them up… Looks like they would go through rain storms on drive out to Florida or fall off and get lost or kill someone else on the road…
The guy gets to florida destination and can't move stuff to apt. So he charges for long carry and then hires two guys on the street for cash who were incidentally moving someone else's stuff and weren't related to company or he knew prior. Well the two guys move everything up for a menial wage. Then he says he can't get couch into elevator and nothing he could do. So I go down there and get the two guys to bring couch up the stairs with extra money unrelated to money already paid to company.. Now he wanted to know how much the guys were getting paid so he could either stiff them his end or act as though they were employed under him..
Anyway I brought couch up myself with the guys after several hours and basically paying for it twice… He tried to leave job before paying the two guys and I told them to make sure they got paid… He left after that in a hurry and didn't even take home his company papers… Don't use this company unless you like torture and sadism… They tried to make it like this guy had the power to subcontract his duties to defend their position… But I'm sure the INS or IRS would be very interested investigating their unorthodox business practice!

Setting everything up wasn't a problem. It was all done online or phone calls. But my concern was that nobody physically saw the furniture, so my estimate was way below what the cost was.

At first, Colonial and I had great contacts. We were getting ready to move forward with the move. They told us that our truck was on the way. Then there was a delay in the truck from when they told us it was gonna get there so it delayed us. They said, "It's gonna be here at 8:00 AM tomorrow morning." We got up 8:00 AM and had the house completely packed ourselves. We were waiting around for an hour or two but hadn't heard anything. They reached out and said it was gonna be closer to noon. Noon came and went but we still hadn't heard anything. They reached out again and said it was gonna be closer to 4:00. Once they made contact again, they said they wouldn't be able to pick up our stuff that day.
They had put me in contact with the driver himself somewhere along the line, who sounded a little disheveled and was confused on why he was even gonna be responsible for our pickup. He had told the dispatcher that his move was gonna be this first move 'cause they had one before us, even though they scheduled us at 8:00 AM. He was confused on why we were even gonna be the second move of the day. My account manager was a horrible point of contact at first, was no help, wasn't understanding, wasn't able to get me in contact with anybody else to get any more information on what was happening, if the truck was even gonna come the next day. He didn’t give me any plans. After I had begged and pleaded for a new account manager, I ended up with Daniel.
Daniel from Colonial Van Lines is great person. He helped me out. Everything once I got to him went much smoother. He kept in contact. He followed up. I was a nuisance to him because I had contacted him back and forth for at least a month between the move. Once we got started all in all, it was not that big of a problem. We had my company put us up in a hotel because my entire house was packed. I had access to nothing by the delay of Colonial. But Daniel was able to work with them. They got here the next day to pick our stuff up. They got a different mover. Daniel understood what I was saying that the truck driver was saying he was not gonna be able to make it until the next week. My first point of contact at Colonial Van lines did not understand that.
Daniel was able to get them move out the next afternoon, which all in all I considered a win. They took great care of our stuff. They packed everything up. Our stuff ended up getting stored outside of Frederick, Maryland which caused for me a little concern because our stuff wasn't gonna be where we were moving to. I thought that that was gonna delay when we got our things. There were two or three quiet weeks where I didn't speak to Daniel that much because they were holding our stuff for 30 days until we had signed a lease on our new house.
I told Daniel our original drop-off date was March 15th, and they said, "You can move it up if you give us enough heads-up.” I called Daniel after we signed our lease at the end of February that we were gonna be moving into our house on March 6th, and that I wanted our stuff as soon as possible for March 6th move-in. He said, "I need to work on that." Daniel was great throughout. But for some reason, at that point, it became difficult for him to contact the dispatcher or get enough information from the dispatcher. They were never able to seem like were able to connect as far as getting us our stuff early. They had said that that was gonna be something that they were willing to do if they could do it. I understood how they could run into that problem but I was hoping for a better explanation.
I was contacted by the driver who was driving my stuff from Frederick to Houston. It was prior to the 15th. He said, "I'm gonna be there in two or three days. I'll give you a better estimated timeframe whenever I get closer." At that time, I was expecting to hear from somebody from Colonial, likely Daniel. But I never did. My things showed up. The guy that was driving the truck texted me. We had great communication. He said, "I'm gonna be here this day." He showed up that day, that time. He had two nice guys with him. They dropped the stuff off and had zero damages. They didn't lose anything. Everything was delivered nice and neat. The actual movers were very nice people. All of the actual technical things of moving were great.
I never heard back from Daniel until about almost a week later. The first thing that he said was that there was a delay in delivery of my things and that it was gonna be, at least, another week. I told him I just got my stuff delivered the week prior. He said nobody had ever relayed him that information. Colonial's communication at times was poor and a lot of times that comes from the dispatch.
Something that I didn't do a great job of was estimating and telling them everything that I had. I tried to relay to them that there was no way I was ever able to give them a complete breakdown of every item that I own and how much it was gonna weigh. We went way over our estimate about 2,000 pounds. But they were able to work with me on that. I liked that. As far as the price goes, it was the best price that we could get. At the end of it, after I paid for the packing, some packing supplies and some other packing things that they needed, it ended up being about $8,000 for the move and we had about 8,000 pounds of things. A dollar per pound once everything is included seems fair especially for someone whose company was paying for it.

I was happy with Colonial Van Lines until the day the driver was supposed to deliver. They dropped the ball. Apparently, they didn't send over that I had made my full payment. It was on a Saturday when the driver called me at night, and Sunday, Colonial was closed. He wasn't gonna deliver my stuff because he didn't have proof that I paid the second payment. I had to scramble to find evidence that I had paid. By 10:00 at night, I was going back and forth with the driver and proved that I had paid it. I would have been pissed off if I hadn't been able to prove it because I paid Colonial in full over $6,000. The woman I was dealing with in the beginning was very nice. But once I had an issue and tried to get in touch with her, I never heard from her again. They all ghosted me. I was very disappointed at the end.

Colonial Van Lines' flexibility was good for us. Colonial Van Lines laid out a timeline of everything when the movers would arrive. They had a good detailed plan of what paperwork they would go over. They sent everything ahead of time so that we could review and make a list of all of our items, make sure everything was on there. And everything just followed that plan. They packaged all of our furniture and did it well. Everything was in good shape.

Both of the reps that I dealt with were very nice. They didn't say anything that they didn't do. They were accurate. On moving day, everybody got right in there and got things on the truck quick and then got them offloaded quick. They stuck to their date. The driver was excellent. He did not just drive, but he helped to load and unload and worked very quickly and listened to everything I said. He made sure everything was put in the right place, and packaged everything that we needed them to correctly. I'm still opening boxes, but I haven't found anything that was broken or damaged yet, except for a bookshelf but that's nothing major.

Colonial quoted me a decent price. When I was on the phone with them, we walked through my apartment and identified everything that was going to be handled and moved by them by description and they came up and said it seems to be about a certain number of pounds. Based on that and the distance I was moving, they gave me a quote. They estimated it to be less than 100 pounds. When they actually loaded it up and went to the scale to get the actual weight, it was about 140 pounds. So their quote was pretty good. They gave me a notification that they were on their way. So I was ready for them. When they showed up, I basically cleaned behind them as they were loading up and moving out. They loaded me up and unloaded me in one day and traveled 124 miles. I really liked that.

They did an excellent job. They were very thorough as far as getting us set up and making sure any questions were answered. The moving coordinator was good and tried to be on top of things. Colonial hired a local crew to load and do all that kind of stuff. The coordinator wasn't as coordinated with them. It didn't seem like they were always in touch with each other. But the crew was on top of everything. Sometimes, they get called from the coordinator either before or after they left. So the process seemed a little disjointed. But the coordinator was trying to help. The moving crew was very efficient. They called and set things up. They were quick and professional. They did a great job. This was the only move I ever had where nothing got broken. There was just minor tiny things that you wouldn't even necessarily notice kind of thing. Compared to other moves, it was amazing.

MOVING PUBLIC PLEASE BEWARE!!! If we could give negative stars to this company, I would. Such a horrible experience with Colonial Van Lines from start-to-finish beginning with the moving estimate, to the pick-up date, to the delivery for our move from NY to GA. Keep in mind that these moving companies know that people do not move every year, so they have no personal stake in doing a job well. You are not coming back anytime soon if at all. The person you get on the phone initially is the salesperson…we spoke with initial consultant. Remember, his job was only to sell their terrible service. Our estimate went from $3700 to over $10k!!
Colonial is a van line company which means they hire local moving companies. Our bill increased the day before picking up and we protested; asked if we could speak with a manager. Could not get anyone on the phone – and guess what they did? They canceled the move 2 days before we were flying out. Finally got them on the line and they had to reassign the job to a new moving company. The company they hired was Always Affordable Movers from NJ (what a joke!!). On pickup there were 3 guys. And guess what? The bill went up again!! And they would not lift a finger until we paid the difference between my $2500 deposit and the new charge!!! Meanwhile, still trying to get someone on the phone for an explanation…NADA. Anytime we did finally get to speak with someone they sounded downright rude and irritated by the call or flipping clueless.
When the items were delivered; there was one guy – 1 guy!!! - to unload a 2-bedroom apartment of boxes and furniture. He rolled up with a U-Haul truck with everything JAMMED AND CRAMMED inside. They damaged our furniture and so many items, it is a DOWNRIGHT shame!! Moving insurance is terribly expensive, so if you have a claim, they are only bound by law to pay $0.60 for every pound of the damaged item.
Our claim came to a measly $260 and the stipulation for accepting such a paltry sum is that you cannot write a negative review about the company, speak a negative word about the company, sue anyone in the company even down to the janitor and any person remotely associated with the company. We declined that payout! In the past 15 years we have moved three times and NEVER had witnessed such a lack of caring and concern. Since the pandemic, it has gotten worse. Do not, Do Not, DO NOT HIRE this company or Always Affordable Movers.

My move with CVL was the absolute WORST experience I’ve ever had with any business, professional organization, or association across any industry. At initial engagement, I was not presented with any options aside from a Binding Estimate that locked me into a contract that charged me based on a calculated weight, as opposed to my actual inventory weight, which was 1,883 lbs. less than their calculations. They did not adjust my balance for the difference. I never knew I had an Account Manager until 3 days before my move. Turned out I was dealing with a salesperson for the entire 4 weeks leading up to my move who kept claiming “I got you” but made no notes on my account even after 125 exchanges to confirm inventory (with photos), make updates and confirm agreed services. I had to review the inventory list multiple times because they kept including things that didn’t exist!
I was assigned 2 different Account Managers in less than a week and they added zero value. They were unresponsive, unavailable and misinformed every step of the way. I was told I would receive 24-48 hrs notice before pickup and delivery and neither happened. I got 1 hr notice before pickup from the driver and was stood up the weekend they were scheduled to deliver. My inventory was all labeled as “SC” (scratched) at pickup, which is not true. Even pieces that had no damage before OR after were still labeled as scratched to proactively remove liability, just in case.
When they finally delivered, the driver refused to re-assemble items that were disassembled and boxed by the carrier at pickup, claiming they were not allowed to touch any boxes that they didn’t pack. He pointed to an item packed in its original manufacturer’s packing and said “that doesn’t look like our box so I can’t touch it.” Aside from that, some of furniture was indeed scratched or damaged and some fragile boxes were just shards of glass. No final documentation was provided for my records after delivery was complete.

I chose Colonial for our move from CA to TN based on the high reviews given by Consumer Affairs. My initial contact was great and very thorough. I opted for the full pack service. The price quoted was reasonable. However, everything went downhill from there. As we got closer to the move my actual move date became a moving target. This caused me to change my flight to TN twice which cost me $220. Then I found out Colonial doesn't have any trucks of their own nor do they have their own movers. They use independent contractors. Because of this communication between all the parties was difficult to say the least. The packing/moving crew in CA was OK, however the packing materials they were sent by Colonial to use were not what I was told.
Instead of blanket wrapping my furniture, they used paper with a very thin layer of material inside. The packing crew told me that Colonial is the only company they deal with that doesn't use real moving blankets! Needless to say, 2 pieces of our custom made furniture arrived at my new house with scratches and gouges because of the inferior packing material. However, the worst part was when the 18 wheeler moving truck finally showed up so they could start loading. Turns out the 18 wheeler did not have a loading ramp! The load crew was forced to load everything into a smaller rental van then back up to the 18 wheeler and load the big truck. So basically they had to do twice the work! Unbelievable!
Guess what? When the 18 wheeler truck arrived in TN they had to unload using the same method. However this time I was told I had to pay an additional $1,836 to cover the cost of the smaller truck! Also, I was forced to pay the remaining balance for the move plus the additional amount before they would unload anything. Unbelievable! They had an unfair advantage so I had to pay to get my goods. Also, the unloading crew in TN were very unprofessional and sloppy. They did not use proper care to safeguard my household goods. Overall it was a very frustrating experience. I thought I could trust Consumer Affairs reviews, but that does not appear to be the case.

I called in with Colonial Van Lines, explained where I was and where I needed to go to. And we got a rough estimate together from that. They followed up. And I went ahead and hooked up with them. I felt comfortable with them. However, they kept transferring me to another person at different points in the move. There was the person that did the SMS. And there was supposed to be a person that would coordinate it and the person that handled it while it was in transit. Those were the three people I talked to.
But the second person that was supposed to handle getting it organized told me that they would call me on a Friday to let me know if they were coming on Monday or Tuesday. He called here Sunday night to say they would be there on Monday. But they didn't show up until late because he was running behind on another load. They showed up at 2 o'clock in the afternoon and started loading. They were great. They finished up on Tuesday morning. And they wanted to deliver on Wednesday. That was a 400-mile drive.
I'm 66 years old. I have COPD. And I can't move that fast anymore. So, I told them, “I can't drive, stay up all day and then drive all night to get to Kentucky, 400 miles away, so you can unload.” So, they decided to drive the truck until Nashville. He called and cleared this with his dispatcher that they would drive the truck to Nashville and drop it off. Another driver would pick it up and deliver on Friday. That part didn't happen. We saw the furniture the following Tuesday.
They didn't have enough help when they delivered. They only had two people. They had four when they loaded, but they only had two to unload. And it got dark and it started raining. They were here until way late in the evening. When it started raining, it made it worse. But everything got delivered intact. It was a good move overall. And the people in the office stayed in touch. The lady that handled the move while it was in process called a couple of times a day. She was surprised it hasn't been delivered. And she got involved heavily at that point. Or she got the delivery in a priority position. Because we were outside of our delivery window at that point.
Our team would like to thank you for the effort made in sharing your experience with the public. As household movers, we appreciate the opportunity to have played a role in your relocation and we wish you all the best in your new location.

I said I'd call them when I have the funds to effect the move. The pricing came out the same, if not better, with no duress on my part and Colonial did what they advertised they would do. There was a really terrific guy that was very consistent with me the whole time. He kept records of our conversations and things like that.
Also, the moving crew was really terrific. They showed up on time and gave me a heads up when they were coming. There was another lady who was the coordinator with the driver, Eduardo. They moved my things from the storage unit to the place where they would store it for a couple of days and then put it on the truck to come across country. They arrived on time and they unpacked every piece. It was extremely well packed and there was not one piece broken or chipped. They brought in all the heavy pieces to go up to the right places in my two-story home. It was a seamless experience.

I put my information into a site that basically gets quotes from a whole bunch of people. Colonial happened to call and they quoted me on the spot. They had a cheaper quote and they were able to move my jet ski which was positive. A lot of the other companies weren't able to do that. Colonial's customer service was really good and always kept me aware of what was going on. There were just a couple of times when I had to call them to get some updates on things. The only thing that I had a mark down on them was that I mentioned from the get-go that I wanted a full service move. I didn't wanna touch anything regarding the move. I wanted it all done.
They did the packing services and moved my stuff. But when I got to the house, I was a little shocked. They showed up and they were just dropping off boxes and they were like, "Okay. See you." I was confused. It was full service but you had to include unpacking services too, which Colonial did not make me aware of. I got screwed at the end a little bit there. When I asked them about it and talked to some of the people, they said there was nothing they could do about it. I understand I didn't pay for it.
Also, there were little bits of problems with the jet ski. The movers weren't prepared for something like that. We had to have it loaded onto a trailer. They had one of those lift gates. The jet ski was too long and they didn't have a way to get it up there. I actually had to go up there and help them out. It took us about an hour to get it up there. We had to figure out how to get it off too. They didn't have anything especially for that. They were just winging it. It was a little bit scary when you are dealing with that amount of money in equipment. That aside, Colonial did a good job and they were prompt. You just have to make sure that you talk to them about everything because full service doesn't mean what it does in most other industries.

Colonial Van Lines gave me a decent quote. They have different tiers. You could purchase the packing, the moving, and the unpacking. I purchased the packing the van but not the individual boxes then unpacking the van into the new apartment. They gave me a spreadsheet that had a list of possible items room by room. In that, there was an estimated weight per item, and from that, the quote was built. The final pricing was higher but part of the issue in that was I severely under accounted for the amount of books that we had.
It was seamless on the moving day. They had the driver came out. He had a three-man crew. The driver came out first, did a walkthrough with me, counted everything, and compared what was observed versus what I had counted. I signed off on it. His crew showed up and they ran through it. They were impressive. I had a wooden chair that was banged up though. I need to file an insurance claim for that one.

But other than that, they were all great. They picked up on a Sunday and I asked them to drop off on Tuesday because I was flying back, and they did. The quote went up $1000 but I said 25 boxes and there were 34 and they didn't have a coffee table on there. So, it was okay.

Colonial's reps were very helpful and the pickup went very well. It was very fast, too. But we were a little bit frustrated with the fact that the house was like a disaster after they came in. The floors were filthy and they didn't lay down any paper. They also dropped a box of spaghetti and there was pasta everywhere where they were just stepping on it and tracking it throughout the house. So, it was a little upsetting, especially since they packed up all our cleaning stuff. For the delivery, the guys laid down paper and walked on that the whole time. They also called and let us know when they were coming. Then the driver called us again an hour before he was coming out. They were very helpful and everything went well with that.
The move went from Arizona to Tennessee, and we got our stuff four days earlier than the rep had quoted. So, we were excited about that. For the quote, they had to pack up a couple of extra boxes than we had quoted, but pretty much it was spot on. All in all, everything went pretty smoothly and we didn't really have any issues with anything. We would use them again in the future.

His name was Mike. He called the day before and let us know what time he was coming the next day. He was on time. Everything went well. He did the drop in North Carolina. He said he'd be there Monday and he was in North Carolina on Sunday. That was great. We met him at the store then we put everything in neatly. I enjoyed the experience.

Colonial was telling me they had a special deal going on. When they were setting up my move, they told me that I would be able to do my move within the next couple of days, which was the upcoming weekend. When I got the coordinator assigned to me, she was telling me that was not true and that they shouldn't have been telling me a specific day yet. The other thing was they specifically told me not to sign any blank paperwork by the movers that showed up. When the movers showed up, they were asking me to sign a blank paper. I was going back and forth with them and had to call the company.
When they delivered my stuff, it was only one guy unloading. It would have been easier with two people. He then again asked me to sign a blank document. I called the company again to talk the woman I was assigned to. I was asking her, “Should this be on the paperwork? Is this how it's supposed to be?” She said, “Well, sure.” I asked, “What do you mean sure? Don't you know? Don't you work for the company? Shouldn’t you know exactly what should be on here and what shouldn't?” She wasn't familiar with the paperwork that the movers were asking me to sign. That was frustrating for me. Those were the things that bothered me. It seemed a little bit of miscommunication. I was also waiting 40 minutes. When the mover showed up, apparently, he wasn't allowed to unload my stuff until the company got my final amount ready that I was supposed to pay.

There were some times where I felt it would be lower because there was some confusion going on. But even through the confusion, everything worked out.

Everything was very nice. The people were great. They contacted me and kept me in touch with what was going on. It worked out really well. They did the pick up in Salisbury, North Carolina. They were there one whole day. They got everything all packed away, and then took it down to Hastings, Florida. I needed my stuff not to be there before I could get into the house. So they kept it until the first of March, and I closed on the 28th. It was smooth and real good.
I was gonna get 70 boxes but I ended up with 140 all together between the boxes and containers and stuff I had packed in that. So the quote went up, but it still was not bad. I originally figured it was gonna be around 10,000 and it ended up being right around there by the time it was all said and done. The only thing I found out after the fact was I had a love seat that they had taken the back off, and when they brought it into the house and put it in, they forgot to connect the back. So when I went to move it one day, the back came off. I had to fix it. But other than that, everything was fine.

The quote from Colonial was in line with other companies that I had done research on. It wasn't the cheapest option that's out there. But rarely do you ever wanna go with the cheapest option. Colonial was efficient and the only problem that I had was a little bit of concern over some delays. They gave me a two-week estimate on when they were gonna be able to deliver and they delivered a day beyond what the estimate was. So, it didn't turn out to be a problem. But if it had been a few days later, it would have been a major problem. It was something I could sweep under the rug. And the rep who assisted me during the move would call and tell me there hasn’t been an update. The timing is an issue but she was constantly in communication with me.
I was very nervous about the delivery date because I travel for work and there could be a better estimate of delivery time. If you're giving me an estimate and it's the last day of that estimate, that's frustrating and annoying. I would have arranged it earlier had I known that it was going to take as long as it did. But it's no big deal. I have all my stuff now. It was delivered intact and undamaged. I'm very happy with the experience with Colonial.

Getting set up with Colonial went smoothly but the quote they gave me went up higher in the end because the route that the driver had to take due to the weather was longer then we had a little bit more weight than they had planned for. The pickup was great though. The guy that did the work was an extremely hard worker. He picked things up all day Saturday, and he showed up to the new address Sunday night, then within four hours, he had unloaded the entire truck. This was for a move of about four and half hours, from Wyoming to Colorado and on delivery, I had 48 hours to figure out if everything was broken. I found that a dresser had a broken leg off and I made the claim, but I was told they have 120 days to get back to me and so far, I haven't heard anything on that yet.
Within that 48 hours, I wasn't able to set the TV up. Later, when I went to plug it in, I found out they had cracked it when they moved it. You could see where their hands had damaged it. So, I lost the 70-inch flat screen and I wasn't able to make a claim on that one. Other than that, it was as a very positive move for us. Overall, to lose a dresser leg and the TV, in our mind, is within the acceptable limits.

The rep from Colonial Val Lines and I went around on prices a little bit and it changed based on what we were moving and what we weren't moving. It wasn't the cheapest, but it was a decent price for the move. The contract people were good. They got it all moved and there was only minimal damage. They asked us to file a compensation, which was $6 per 100 pounds. There were two China pieces that were broken that they weren't worth the time of going through a claim.
We were given a two-day time window of February 27th and 28th, and the people came to the house at 3 o’clock on the 28th. They spent two hours doing the inventory and finalizing the price, started packing at 5 o'clock, and worked till about 10:30 that night. Then, they came back in the morning and worked from about 10:00 to about 12:00 in the following day. We didn't like that. We would have preferred that they came in the morning. The whole evening was interrupted and the next day, we had an eight-hour drive to Chattanooga from New Orleans after they got done at 12 o'clock. We would rather have gotten up from the motel and gone in the morning.

Update on 04/27/2023: This is an update from my previous review. While our items did finally arrive, and they so graciously took $100 off the cost for the inconvenience, they also charged an additional $822. We were quoted our rate, again probably lower since our items were less than a usual delivery (a comment every person I interacted with made mention of) of $3,880.52 - $1,659.78 (dep) = $2,220.74 balance due on delivery.
Since the company chose to use a bonus shuttle, that was not needed, we ended up having to pay the extra amount in order to get our items. I brought this error to the attention of our coordinator, the driver and my dispatch contact. All said to connect with Accounting. I have called them three times with no replies. However they were calling me to provide a review of completion of service.
Additionally when I booked this reservation I was told to have a credit card available for payment, which was not a problem. The day before, the company calls and asked me to send over a copy of my driver's license and credit card (front and back) why would anyone do this... hello?? Identity theft 101. Since I wouldn't share my personal details as requested, I needed to get a money order.. 4 actually at $5 a piece. To get a money order it can't be over 1k so I had to get 4 to cover the balance owed, and in case you're wondering I did ask if I could provide them a cashiers check (which could be as much as I wanted) and they said they don't accept those.
In the end, I would be very careful with using this company as they will charge more than they say. As for our items. Again, when we packed up our items to put in storage they were not packed for a move. So, the items that arrived broken were not a surprise. The vendors used were courteous and efficient with the move, and we tipped them well.
Original review: As this review is written, (April 5th) our items have not been shipped and clearly will not be received by April 7th. Disappointed is my overall feeling from this whole experience. Early on in the decision making, the customer care team (Neshene & Paul) are super supportive and very responsive. Once you pay the fee, and sign the documents, that's when the silence begins. I did read the reviews for this company on the Consumer Affairs site, and Colonial Van Lines (CVL) seemed reputable to use. That has not been my experience. Details surrounding our agreed dates: Est. Many months before our scheduled move date in August, 2022, I researched moving companies, and Colonial had good reviews. At the beginning of the process, the representatives were communicative and professional. They gave us a virtual estimate without coming to our home, which I should have seen as a red flag, but we went room by room and they gave us a binding written estimate for our move. On or about August 1st, four days before our scheduled moving date, I began calling our Moving Coordinator, Faith ** to see when the movers would be coming to pack up our fragile belongings. She assured me that the packers would be there to complete the packing several days before our move date. After that date, I repeatedly called Faith and our sales representative, Nicholas **, along with another representative named Veronica to confirm that the packers were going to show up.
For many days I was led to believe that they were trying to coordinate with dispatch and that our move was still on their schedule. Finally, at the last possible moment, another representative called and callously announced that they didn't have a truck for our move and that they had exhausted all possibilities. I asked if the Company could provide any assistance in finding another mover, and I was told that we were now on our own. Colonial's cancellation of our move negatively impacted many other people than ourselves. There were three real estate closings that were contingent upon us moving out of our home on August 5th and our home buyers were very angry.
One of the realtors found us a new mover for us at the eleventh hour, but they knew that they had us over a barrel and basically doubled the price of our move. The new movers then proceeded to pack and load our furnishings on to the truck in such a negligent manner that they damaged our furnishings in the amount of $7,000. I wrote a certified mail letter to the President of Colonial telling him how their cancellation had caused enormous financial and emotional distress, and he offered us a very insulting sum, which I did not accept because I would have to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement. I wanted other potential customers to know that they should avoid Colonial at all costs so that no one else would have to endure what we did during the moving process.

I called Colonial to see if I can get some information on how they do things. The person who answered my call was really knowledgeable and well-spoken. She did her best to help out. She did a good job. We were moving a small amount of stuff, but it was all done and treated well, and we were helped. So that was good. The movers were very polite and listened. Some of the furniture had been in the family for a while and I really wanted it well protected, and they really listened to that. They made extra sure everything was protected and wrapped well. They were careful loading it onto their truck. So I was pleased. They were nice.
We had to have them do a shuttle on both ends because the streets are relatively narrow. They had a fairly small truck for the first part. But that was in a storage facility in California and it was pretty tight for them but they managed it all well. There was supposed to be a second drop-off at delivery, but we made a mistake in not double-checking the hours. So they delivered on a Sunday, and the second place that it had to go to was closed. It was not their fault. It was our fault.

I liked Colonial Van Lines' constant follow-up and the preparations. They had quality control people. They had various different functions going on at the same time. I couldn't believe the quality of people I got. And the messages they provided me with, helpful things for the most part, about what I needed to be prepared for. Moving was different than I remember it had been. For example, the one thing that wasn't obvious to me in the very beginning was that boxes were not included in the quote. They were included in the quote to the extent that they did the packing. But what they didn't do was up to me. That part surprised me a bit. We talked to people who had moved. And theirs was where more packing was done. They didn't pack anything. That's why I was misled on that end.
Once I questioned the boxes, “Where am I gonna get the boxes?” They said, “When you buy them. It's not in the quote because we're not packing the stuff. You are. We take care of the perishable stuff that's specifically outlined, and you get the rest.” That was the only real surprise I had in the whole thing. But the driver who was the crew chief was active in the process. It wasn't one of these where I heard the driver sits in the truck and everybody else does the work. He was active.
The load was smaller, so we were on one smaller truck, not a large 18-wheeler. And he took the drive all the way up from Florida to Indiana where we are now. He was on this end as well. He had exceptional people on both ends. I couldn't get over how pleased we were with the packing stuff that they did. The care they took to wrap the things, so with the material for quilts and things they use to wrap the things, it’s easy to see why we didn't have significant damages. Our things arrived when they were supposed to. Given it was one truck that went from beginning to end, I could see why all this worked out so well for us. My wife is more critical of things like this than I am. But even she was impressed with Colonial Van Lines.
In talking to others, they didn't do any of the packing, and the cost of their move was two and a half times that we paid. And they went from Florida to Kentucky to Ohio. We went from Florida to Indiana. We're a bit further away. After the move was over, it wasn't over for all the inquiries we got, how the move went and what went wrong. And we reported that nothing went wrong. We’re happy.

Updated review: April 27, 2023
Update: I am updating this review because I was given a refund of $2,500 to resolve the situation. The business worked with me to come to an agreeable resolution.
Original Review: March 24, 2023
I hired Colonial Van Lines for a move and paid a total of $32,500. On 10/29/22 the moving truck showed up with a driver with no helpers. It took 8 more hours before anyone showed up. An argument between the helpers over money and included several uses of the words “God**, **, and the ** word.” I had to pay out of pocket an additional $300 so the helpers wouldn’t leave. It began to get late, so the helpers were rushing to get done. They were getting everything off the truck and just shoving it into the garage.
The entire garage was filled with an 18-wheeler-sized load of boxes and furniture, and that’s how it was left. The driver wasn’t supervising or controlling the helpers in any way. All of the furniture was left unassembled and missing hardware. They somehow finished unloading an entire tractor-trailer in only six hours with four people, which was 13 hours after it showed up that morning. It took them 12 hours with six people when they loaded it up. The helpers began yelling and cursing at the driver again out front.
The inventory sheet was completely illegible and didn’t correspond to any of the stickers on the items. We were missing several items that we know of and received other people’s items. There were many boxes that were completely smashed. The items inside were all broken. We paid $32,500 to have a stress-free and professional move. Instead I received a rush job and terrible offloading. The company has a ludicrous policy on damaged and missing items, but I didn’t think this included absolute and gross negligence. I'm missing an entire bunk bed set with mattresses, a king size box spring, a priceless family heirloom German clock, and many of my power tools. I think it's only reasonable to assume that there was some theft that took place.
I sent all of these concerns to the company. The resolution specialist sent out another group of helpers, and once again after dark and late at night. They spent maybe an hour at our home bringing some of the furniture into the house, but that was it. The garage was still left filled with a majority of the boxes and unassembled furniture. How could the company possibly mess up like this two times in a row? In the end, it took us four months to get everything moved into the house ourselves.
I contacted them and asked for the replacement cost of the items missing, cost of the damaged goods, and compensation for the whole fiasco caused by the movers. This came to a total of $6,000 and I felt that was a fair settlement considering we paid over $32,000.00 for an incomplete move. I was offered a mere $1,000 in compensation. I responded that this amount was insulting. They then offered me $1,250. I responded that this was again insulting. I was then offered $1,500. I told them that we weren’t any even near being on the same page, and then never heard back from them.
The CEO of Colonial Van Lines is Aldo Disorbo. Upon doing some research, I read that he has a history of complaints, and he agreed to leave the moving business twice before. The Florida Attorney General's said that he continued to open new companies, moving people, started using aliases, and opened a moving brokerage company. He was then sentenced to two months in jail for contempt in violation of his agreement to stay out of the moving business for three years. He was later the center of a U.S. Congressional investigation and report on moving fraud.
He’s been running dozens of moving companies and continuing to get away with. Just google his name and you’ll read several news articles and ongoing lawsuits that continue to this day. I guess this isn’t a good example of “crime doesn’t pay.” This has been without a doubt the most miserable experience of our entire lives. It was so terrible that it makes us wish we had never even moved in the first place. Please avoid this company like the plague and don't deal with the nightmare that we had.

At some point, I felt like it was information overload, but I realized he just wanted to properly prepare me for the experience. So, I appreciated the way he gave me the necessary information without being condescending. He was very professional. As far as the final cost, I paid it and I haven't received a follow-up bill. So, there was no adjustment made. I understood that if I had more than what I said, there would be an adjustment. I had a week before the actual pickup to change any of my items that I was taking if I wanted to lessen the quote. It was pretty clear.
It was understandable why everything was set up the way it was set up. I paid with a credit card, and I paid the drivers. I was told that I would pay the drivers. So, everything went the way I was told it would go. I wasn't able to meet the truck when they got here. My daughter did. She was very pleased with the two, young men who were the drivers. She was very pleased with the way they treated her and the way they treated my possessions when they were putting it in the storage. I was impressed with them when they picked it up, the way they talked to me, the way they let me know clearly what they would be doing, how long it would take, and their approximate expected date of delivery.

Colonial Van Lines' response was quick, and their pricing was better than the other two that I contacted. They asked me if I had any rooms. But I wasn't moving rooms. My wife and I have collected some Asian furniture that we like. It was 15 pieces, a smaller screen, and the rest were clothing and knickknack boxes. I explained what I had and how many boxes I anticipated, so Colonial said, "It's gonna be a quarter of a truck." And we went from there. They gave me a pricing for that. And if I had more, I had the ability to expand and it would cost me more, which I understood. I boxed most of the stuff, but by the time they came, they helped me with a bit of packing. The price was an extra $80 on the packing, so the price was what they told me it would be. Also, the reps kept up, reminder emails or to talk to them, what day they were coming and the truck would be within X amount of feet of either location, and it was all handled well.
The movers were excellent. The two guys who did it were great. They handed me the inventory list, and as we took them off, they told me, "This is number 105, 107, 121." We just checked it off, and it was quick. They were well-organized, gave me the numbers. They even put together a couple of tables for me and moved some things for me to parts of the house.

I liked their price too. Keanna was the rep that helped with the inventory and rate. She was super communicative. Our driver, Dimitri, was exceptional too. I'm a flight attendant with a major airline so I know customer service. Dimitri was a beast and was just way above and beyond. He did the work of four men. He kept in touch with us the entire time and let us know his progress and his expected date. That communication was very helpful and that meant a lot to us. There were some extra costs with Colonial Van Lines that kept kind of piling up, but some of them were things that made sense to me like they couldn't get close to the storage because the truck was too big, and so, they charged us extra 600 bucks. It felt like a little overkill like, "Okay, you can't get to the thing, but it's also the case that you knew how big your truck was and you said it was fine." The first crew in Palm Springs was phenomenal. They did a really great job, and they were friendly and communicative. The second one was a little less considerate. They gave my daughter a hard time when she was worried because they were kind of roughing things up a little and they calmed down after a while.

My wife and sister-in-law chose Colonial because of their rates, charge and rating. There was some switching around and some miscommunication on both parts. But the lady who did it and was over it did well. The guy who managed it from a paper standpoint told Alyssa that they could come here and do two drop-offs, one in the house and a pickup and take that pickup to the storage area and with the other things that we wanted to move in the storage area.
Alyssa talked to another person two days before we were to start to move and we found out that they were only licensed to drop off and pick up in one place. It was interstate, not intrastate. So, we had to hire a separate person that cost us $700 to move what was already in here in that living room to the storage. We were surprised because I had the couches and the loveseat down in the living room and the whole bedroom suite. We expected that they would pick that up and put it in the van after they unloaded and take it to the storage, but they didn't.
There were different costs that we weren't satisfied with. There were some charges that we didn't expect. And the insurance part of it was confusing and very expensive that Colonial Van Lines would cover 60 cents on a pound. So, we thought that was not a good offering. Don't take the insurance and make sure you watch the packers that Colonial hires. Nigel, the guy who drove the 18-wheeler, was very organized. He packed well. But his help, those are contract people, picked up down there and up here, weren't good as far as the way they packed. We found some broken things. My wife went through a lot of the crystal ornaments they have in a cabinet. They broke three things. But my wife said that's fine.

Colonial did what they said they would and they were punctual. Also, the movers were great. Tony was very professional and took great care with everything. Moving is very difficult and especially we had large pieces of furniture in a very tight spaces but they got through without banging the walls at all. And I like the way they wrapped them up when they put it in the van. They knew what they were doing. I was very surprised at the condition everything arrived. Everything was was fine, except for a few minor scratches.

The Colonial Van Lines reps were precise. My stuff is in a storage unit. So, I did it by memory. I called them later and gave them more definitive item lists. And they were spot-on with everything. They checked in with me almost every day up to the point of the move. They handled it well, all the way across. When you’re giving somebody your life possessions, you're trusting them. I put my faith in them and they delivered 100%.
I left my son in charge because I drove my personal valuable possessions and things that were super sentimental and fragile. They showed up on time. They communicated with him. They kept him in the loop. They gave him copies of all the paperwork. And he texted it to me. It was super smooth. On this end, the driver arrived early. He arrived the night before. I was at an event for work, so I didn't get home until 11:00. And the semi was parked in front of my house. He slept in his rig. The next morning, he came to the door at 7:30. I called them and said, “He's here.” Because the movers weren't here. But they just hadn't coordinated with the dispatch. But I called, finally got ahold of them. And they were here. They said, “Oh, they're on their way. They should be there in 10 minutes.” And they were. The guys that did the moving and unpacking and everything were very nice. They made my cross-country move as stress-free as possible.

The cost was not bad at all, especially for the distance.

I went with Colonial because they had a decent price. They use local moving people and that worked out great. The local people got there as expected and took pretty good care of my stuff. On the other end, they used some local people as well and they helped us move. It was a fairly good experience. The move was from Florida to Louisiana and it took about a week. I was very pleased that the estimate Colonial gave me was exactly what the service cost. In terms of the way that they handled putting together the estimate, they had me give them a list and it all worked out really well.

The coordinator was extremely helpful. It was really smooth and easy. The movers were extremely prepared. The coordinator called, and then the driver called to make sure everything was okay. When he came to pick up, he came with his truck the night before to make sure that he could fit and everything would work right, and then showed up the next day 15 minutes early, and got it done extremely quickly. They ended up showing at drop-off a few hours early. They had quoted later in the afternoon and he had called me and said, “No. Actually, I'll be there earlier in the day if that's okay.” I told him it was fine.
Customers should pay attention to how companies price. Certain places price by weight. Others price by square foot. Colonial Van Lines did by weight, so we ended up being under the weight that they had originally quoted. You should always overestimate what you're gonna have when you get the original quote. Our actual stuff was less than what we had expected because we had overestimated it. So it was a nice cushion.

Other than that, everybody from Colonial was supportive and checked in with me time after time. I appreciated it very much. Those who did the delivery were great. They couldn't have been nicer. My daughter was here and she got a kick out of them because they said the furniture is nice so they’re going to be very careful. The final cost was a good bit more than a quote though. It ended up about $3000 higher so that was a little much, but it's a long trip. My only concern is that a lot of the boxes that they packed were half full.

I talked to Colonial via the telephone and we went through all the descriptions of each room that I had. Then, I guesstimated. I told them the number of boxes that was based on that and anything over, that was gonna be what the cost would be. On the moving day, the reps showed up and started loading the truck, taking down furniture and wrapping it. They did a very good job.
Colonial didn't negotiate with the quote. It was accurate. But we ended up paying $6,000 more than the quote because we had more things to move. Then, on the day that they were unloading, we had to pay an additional $1,400 because the semi-truck could not get into our property. So, they had to rent two U-Haul tracks and unload the semi in a huge parking lot and then bring the other trucks and unload them. The communication was excellent as well as the professionalism. I had a very positive experience with Colonial. I would highly recommend them. The people were timely, professional and friendly. They were there every step of the way. They were very knowledgeable and I had somebody who I could contact 24/7.

Colonial worked with me to fit my needs and to get the quotes to my agency. The rep I worked with was the guy who led me to it all. Then, the guys came. I felt sorry for them because I had so much stuff and they just moved and packed everything very nicely and professionally. They were like my brothers when they left. I just loved them. At first, they said that they were gonna come on the 25th, but they changed it to the 26th. They were supposed to get there between 9:00 and 12:00. Then I got a phone call that they couldn't come until between 3:00 and 5:00. We waited for them but they didn't get there until almost 6:00.
The movers did a good job. They worked hard and got everything loaded up. It took a while and I didn't like it that it was so late in the day. They finished at 11:00 at night. Also, the truck they brought wasn't big enough. They couldn't fit anything else inside the truck. Part of the reason they couldn't was because we were moving a motorcycle. But they should have figured that out. They should have brought a bigger truck. Some of the furniture, some of the mattresses and the frame for the futon, they had to put on the outside of the truck at the back. They strapped it on the lift. The futon couch is now broken. I'm not happy that it was treated that way.

I was able to get in touch with my agent immediately to make sure that the price that was being quoted was already discussed from Colonial Van Lines. And I immediately got a response. The people are professional and they did everything. There were times where I got confused with the deadline but that was the driver not calling me around specifically.
I did not find a bulked-up price for such a good company, which was fantastic. I was expecting a lot more money. But not only was Colonial professional, they handled the money properly. My shipment was late by about a month because of the winter storms that were happening throughout the US. I reached out to them around the date when it was supposed to be delivered and I asked for updates. And they mentioned they couldn't get in touch with the movers themselves. But I tried a few times in between to get them. But every time, they mentioned that they wanted to approach me with a proper update and because they didn't have one, they haven't reached out to me yet. My son moved from Texas to California for a job and we went with Colonial. They were money-friendly and able to respond very quickly. I had a service advisor, Eric, and he kept me in the loop constantly. They used a subcontractor and the movers were very nice. They were very careful with the furniture and materials, and they wrapped everything great. One of the guys said that the stuff was under 2,000 pounds and there would be no problem. That was super to me because it's a little expensive to move. When we got down to California, they called to drop off the stuff and it went well. But they had to take it six stories up in a building. They had elevators, so that was no biggie. But the guy from the subcontractor called me and said that the stuff was over 2,000 pounds. He said that I owed another 300 and some odd dollars. That was weird but they had me by the arm and I had to pay it.
Other than that, there was a lot of follow-up from Colonial but they flipped around a lot and kept getting us confused. I got multiple calls saying the movers were going to come to pick up the stuff. Then they had to clarify that we were having the stuff picked up in Texas, not in California. They then said they'd call the other guy on the other end. But they kept saying they couldn't reach him. When I called him, he said he didn't get any calls. So there was a miscommunication. But other than that, everything went very smoothly.
Then, my son's job did not pan out the way it was supposed to, so we're moving him back. We called Colonial again because we had good service last time and we thought this time, we were going to have a smooth ride. They said they were going to do the move themselves and they were not going to use subcontractors because they have a base out of California. But then, I started getting these calls where they said they couldn't get the van line up to the apartment complex and that they were going to have to use a shuttle, which was going to be $350 more. It was the same stuff coming back, with the exception of one day bed, and all of a sudden, it cost more. It weighed more than it did when it went, but then I had to pay another additional. I ended up paying $3,700 for this move while I paid 2,800 the first time. It was a big difference to me because I'm on Social Security.
Also, I have not had the communication contact this time that I did the first time. It has not been as strong as it was on the first trip. They called a couple of times and they can't give me a delivery date. But I understand that. We're still in the middle of the move and the stuff is not due to be here until the week of the 20th. They have until the 26th to get it here, so they're within their window.

I moved from Texas to California and Colonial's customer service was fantastic. But it was in the middle of the ice storm and they were scrambling to try to get the furniture on a truck. So Colonial had to cancel with them and the move got postponed. Then they got another person to come out. The driver from the truck said that the furniture couldn't fit in their truck as I had so much stuff. But I was honest with everything that I had when I dealt with the moving coordinator who went through the list of furniture that I had and did the estimate of the price. So there was a little bit of a discrepancy with how much stuff I had or how much it was actually going to weigh. But that was mostly on the truck driver because he said I had way more.
I then had my daughter go to the storage room and take pictures. I sent them to Colonial and they said those were not the pictures that the truck driver sent them. So the truck driver sent pictures to Colonial of an entirely different storage room and it was him who was trying to pull one over because he wanted to get paid more. It was a little fishy, but Colonial was really cool. Once I sent them the pictures, they gave me a new quote, which was a tiny bit more. Then I had to wait a few more weeks in order to get on the truck. But the delay was not Colonial's fault. It was because of the ice storm and the truck driver. Colonial worked with me and tried to problem solve as best as they could.
The truck driver who ended up delivering my stuff was cool as well. He was supposed to have two people help him but they didn't show up. So he moved the entire contents of the truck all by himself. He did amazing, so I was really impressed. There were a couple of dishes that were damaged but no furniture was damaged and everything was fine. I was happy with the service and I would hire Colonial again.

The weight and volume estimate was done over the phone and the estimator did not offer an on-site visit or video call to perform the estimate. I relied upon her expertise to properly estimate the move. The subcontractor employed to handle the move did not show up until after 2:30 in the afternoon. The job was scheduled for a 3 day pack and load. The sub insisted on doing it all in one day and finished at 9:00 at night. The packing crew quickly ran out of boxes and the truck was not large enough to haul all our belongings. After the crew left, we found numerous belongings that had been left behind. It took two days and multiple phone calls before someone finally came back to pick up the remaining items.
After delivery, we found numerous small items were missing (step stools, garden hose, etc). Many boxes had not been marked and were therefor just dumped in the garage and left for us to sort out. A glass lamp had been packed in with clothing and broke in transit. Several frames were broken on our artworks. Most importantly, the bed legs for our adjustable bed were gone, as well as the remote for the left side of the bed. As such, the bed is unusable. Because the extra insurance was prohibitively expensive, we will only be reimbursed 60 cents per pound. The emphasis on both ends of the move was speed rather than precision. The response of Colonial Van Lines management has been less than helpful or sympathetic. Management's response was to push the blame upon us for misjudgment in our disclosure of belongings.

I moved from Cincinnati to Los Angeles, and working with the moving coordinator was good. The cost seems a little expensive but it might just be what the market rate is for these kinds of moves. The movers were great people as well. They were so personable and they did a really good job. They mentioned that they were late because their van broke down in the middle of the desert. They sounded like they had a tough commute and I would hope that Colonial Van Lines would give them a bonus for the job.

The rep with Colonial Van Lines explained the process to me. He knew what he was talking about. However, it took three weeks for them to do the move from Anaheim, California to Virginia Beach, Virginia. That was one of the issues, that they promised one day, but the reality was a couple of weeks after that. But that's not a big deal. One lady was always calling me and keeping me in the loop regarding the situation with the drivers and why there was a delay with the truck. All the furniture was in good condition when they arrived. The only issue during the delivery was the mover. The agreement that we signed at the beginning was that they were going to disassemble the furniture then assemble again in the final destination. But I had to assemble by myself the furniture.

Colonial Van Lines moved us in July 2022. They were late and a different company, ‘Re Moving America’ showed up. At no time were we informed they were doing the move. The DOT # The form that is required by law was for Colonial and not Re Moving America. We had not been given the ability to review/reject this carrier.
Showed up past last pick up window.
No contact info.
Arrived in a Penske moving truck with no shelving for a long-distance haul.
Furniture and boxes strapped to the truck’s liftgate and drove in heavy rain.
On delivery, we found a large amount of poorly packed boxes that had damaged items thrown into them.
Scratched up floors and walls.
Hired unvetted Craigslist workers on arrival and delivery.
The movers did not finish reassembling furniture.
Upon Delivery, attempted to give us items that we did not own. Items of ours were lost.
3/4 of all boxes crushed and many soaking wet.
Items were hidden from view and orientated to hide damages.
Moving Paperwork:The company never offered the booklet “Your Rights and Responsibilities when You Move.”
Order for Service was incorrect. It did not list ‘Re Moving America’ and all the required information about them as required by law. (Name / Address / US DOT#/ Phone/ etc.)
Bill of lading
Refused to give copies. (Required by law)
Altered paperwork after signatures to list everything as being scratched.
The inventory list was incorrect and the movers did not allow us to correct.
No indication of credits to us for delayed timelines.
By right, they did not allow us to observe the weighing of the truck.
The cost breakdown exceeded the cost per weight tariff in the Order for Service and never offered a refund.
We asked the delivering mover for a company claim form and they refused. Damages caused by their neglectful actions totaled around $10,000.00, yet Colonial only offered $1400.00 and is trying to force us to sign an NDA.

They sent me an online quote through my email and they advised me that I wasn't shipping a lot. The minimum amount that they were going to bill me for was a certain amount of weight and I could add stuff up to that amount without changing the price at all if I needed to. They checked in with me periodically until I booked the service. The only thing that really messed me up a little bit was when we originally discussed the dates. I gave them a window that I needed things to happen for both pickup and delivery and that was not really how things turned out. Ended up being last-minute stressful on both ends.
I specifically mentioned, when I was booking it, that my contractor would be receiving the delivery and that he was on location Monday through Friday and that it had to be delivered Monday through Friday. That is absolutely not what happened. They ended up delivering on a Saturday. My contractor was in Reno, not in California at all. I ended up having to give somebody a PIN code to a lockbox that had a spare set of keys in it to get them into the garage, and then just having faith that everything was going to be where it was supposed to be and put back the way it was supposed to be.
That was the most frustrating part of the whole process was that I had one control on the delivery part and it didn't get met. The same thing happened on pickup. Originally, they were supposed to pick up within a certain time frame and that was fine. But the driver got here 24 hours early and was like, "Okay, so we're going to come early and pick everything up." I said, "No, you're not." One of the ones that I was shipping wasn't even in the city where I was having everything picked up and I had plans to go and get it that night and bring it into town so that everything could be picked up at the same time. They said, "Okay, we're already here. We're just gonna go ahead and pick it up." I said, "No way." It felt very last minute and rushed on the pickup and on the delivery because of those two circumstances. But overall, the experience was really positive with Colonial Van Lines.

We had to do that a couple of times because I forgot some things. But that worked out perfectly. They were always there every time I called and kept me informed every step of the way. The driver and both guys that he had working on both sides were excellent. They were professional in packing things up and did a good job boxing up my things.

When I moved to Florida before, I went with a different van line. Back then, a guy went through all my stuff, put it on a computer and came up with a price. At the end of the price, it was fixed not to exceed. We got to the other end and I paid the driver with the remaining balance on the contract. With Colonial, I had almost 4,000 pounds more at the end and I was really upset with that because I had weighed all the boxes that went into the truck.
I don't know how they could estimate a move over the telephone. That doesn't sit well with me. The rep just made a sheet and put different things on it. I told him I had a safe and so he added some pounds for that. I also told him that there was gonna be an adjustable bed and four dressers. He put some pounds on for those as well. I have no idea how they can even come close on an estimate when they're doing that because there are always other things that I don't think of when I'm talking to them. Vice versa, there are also things he won't remember to ask me. It cost me an awful lot of money to move with what I brought.
They called me a couple of days before delivery and they told me it was gonna be a different price than when the mover got here. They called me again the morning my things were gonna get delivered and told me that the price would be almost $1,000 more than what the lady told me two days before. I wasn't happy about that. Other than that, the moving crew members were really good workers. They were very careful. I didn't have one broken glass and they did what they said they were gonna do. The price was right and at the end, I was very happy.

When I was setting up the move, they went through room by room and asked about every single thing that was in it. They had a list of normal things in rooms and they brought up things that I didn't even think of like my bike and motorcycle. That was helpful and they were very detailed with the quote. We ended up paying half upfront and the rest when we got our things.
The moving day was good but there were some hiccups with our building. The elevator got jacked from us but they were flexible and understanding. It might have been better for the crew to have two more people as the two were working constantly. But they made do with just two. Other than that, they were very efficient and they wrapped all of our furniture really well.
There were a couple of dings in the furniture. There was a handle on a dresser that was a little crooked but it functions fine. We also had two broken glasses and a broken glass lampshade. So, I wish that there had been a bit more care with those items as we had fragile written on them. But there wasn't any damage besides those items.

Also, the move itself was very smooth. I really appreciated having the same person on both sides as the manager covering everything. It was Sammy and I cannot speak highly enough. The only snafu was his assistant at pickup was an hour and a half late. That kind of slowed things down and I felt bad for him because he was on his own but he handled it great. When the movers came, they were very kind and courteous. They heard what happened and they're like, “Okay. We need to do what we can to help out this family.” While they were moving my belongings and packing up all of my and my husband's belongings, I had to duck out of the house for a little bit just to get some air and clear my head because it was hard for me to be in that house. The driver would be in the truck occasionally, checking on paperwork or making phone calls. If he saw me outside, he’d stick his head out the door and ask if I'm okay.
I made sure I was here in El Cajon for the delivery. It was the same driver who came to Arizona so he remembered me. I didn't have a good experience with Colonial Van Lines. There was confusion about the weight. I had a rough estimate, and they based the quote off that. However, I removed a lot of things because I was able to sell off some stuff. Closer to the date, I spoke to a representative and provided a reduced weight. The person who came over to see reduced the weight, then the next day, he came and took the stuff.
I needed to pay 25%, 25% then 50%. The two 25% payments were based on the lower rate, but when the final delivery was happening, they didn't take the reduced weight into account, so I had to pay $600 extra. Finance got involved, and Colonial was not giving me the stuff. I had to put it in storage, and there was a lot of back and forth. Ultimately, I had to pay.

Colonial Van Lines moved some furniture, as well as my cars. They damaged one of them, and I have yet to get any resolution. So I had to complain to the DOT. Colonial gave me $200, which I didn't have any choice but to accept. I'm still waiting though, since November, to get the car fixed. They also came two days early to pick up my car and two days late to pick up our furniture, and people were moving into our home the next day.
When the movers came to pick up our stuff to move to this state, they were very good. However, the mover was just the driver and some guy he hired that didn't know what he was doing. When the moving truck got here to drop the stuff off, it was just the driver. We had to wait another day for him to find people. Colonial couldn't find anybody to help move our stuff. Also, I have one lady's stuff, her wheelbarrow and box of things, and this has been going on since November. I wrote her a letter and told her I have her stuff, and as of yet, no one has come pick it up. She's not happy about what happened with her situation, and she said she was gonna do something.
The rep I dealt with for the quote was nice, but after everything was said and done, I couldn't get ahold of him anymore. It was like he just didn't care. They just wanna get the money, and that's it. You leave messages, but they don't call back. I talked to 15 different people. Overall, the whole experience has been absolutely horrific, and I cannot, under good faith, recommend them to anybody.

Colonial was a pleasure to deal with. The people that assisted us during the move were fabulous. They were extremely helpful. There were three of them that came out of Memphis and we were in McDonough. Then there were four that came here out of Atlanta. The second crew seemed more organized. The fact that their crew out of Memphis was a little bit late getting there may have slowed them down a little bit. On the first day, they got there at 7:30 and it was dark when they left. They packed all day. Then they started loading the next day. When they got finished, it was late that night too. We went the next day and came down. It was the next day after that that they got here.
A suggestion for improvement would be that when they remove things that assemble pieces such as screws or clips, it would have been more helpful to have those items taped in a Ziploc bag to what they go with. I'm still trying to find some clips for some of my things. Even though they gave me the bag, I don't know that everything is in there. We also have one TV that wound up broken.

Colonial Van Lines was very thorough with their explanation and follow-up, and they worked with me on getting the price down to which seemed affordable. The coordination, and the pickup and delivery, were better than I expected. Both of the companies that they contracted with were wonderful. The drivers for both pickup and delivery were great. They were timely and showed up exactly when they said they would.
I was nervous because it was a 50-50 on reviews. There was one time when I was very nervous because I handled all this on my own because my husband took a new job here in Arizona and he wasn't able to handle any of the coordination. Some of the language in the email was different from the language that was spoken on the phone. So, I almost canceled. I left a frantic voicemail and got a call back from three people who helped walk me through it and explained to me everything in plain language without all the other technical stuff. It was a lot easier to understand and everything unfolded the way they explained.

The reps from Colonial who helped me set up were very good and professional. The cost went up a little bit but I was prepared for that. There was an 800-pound gun safe that was added to moving a bulky item cost. The crew got the moving done professionally and hauled it from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania down to Tyler, Texas. It came two days after Christmas and I was already down here. But I was not inconvenienced at all. It was what Colonial had said and it was within the timeframe they had given me. I didn't expect it to go straight through and it sort of moved from hub to hub to make a benefit of their time and their work crews. But the timing was good enough. Everything went well.

The first person I talked to was Daniel and he is from Colonial Van Lines, and after talking with him for a little while, I felt like I could trust him more than I could some of the other ones I was talking to. He was more trustworthy-sounding, and he answered all my questions completely, and in a way that I could easily understand that made sense to me. It just kind of sucks that my stuff didn't weigh the minimal. We got rid of all my stuff.
I originally looked at doing the pod because they're so much smaller and it was what I needed. I just would have had to pay even more for a pod because they don't load it and then unload it. So, I would've had to pay a moving company to come and load and unload it. That was what Colonial did, so it turned out that much better because of it. The people who did the moving and the picking up were nice. They were very fast. There were three of them. I have some things that you hang up on your walls, and those were the only thing that really wasn't wrapped. They helped me package that up.

Colonial Van Lines called me up and asked me a couple of questions, but it's pretty simple. As far as the cost, I work in logistics, and it is in line with what I was expecting. There was a thing damaged, but I told the guy I expected it. It was a flimsy table that was already beat up. The only thing is I could have gotten a better idea of when the items were getting delivered because I very much had to do a lot of following up to figure out when I was gonna get it shipped to the house.

Towards the end, right before the move, one customer service representative wasn't quite up to the same standard that the other had been. But he was still okay, but he told me a couple of times, "I'll call you tomorrow and check on something." But then he didn't do it. But it wasn't anything that was important, so it didn't bother me.

Everything was done right, just like Colonial Van Lines said it would be. And I was very happy with it. The rep was very thorough. Also, I couldn't have been more pleased with the gentleman that actually moved me. There was one gentleman in one truck that came. He had me packed up in one day, and out of there the next. He was so good and kind.
I brought an extra bed because my daughter lives down here and she needed one for her guest room. He said, "What do you want me to do with this?? I said, "I'm gonna have to get it over to my daughter's. But I'll have to figure out how to do that later." He said, "Where does she live?" I said two miles down the road. And he said, "I'll take it down there." He put the beds altogether. He assembled my bed and the bed he took down to my daughter's. He was very good about everything. He was very thorough. Nothing was damaged. And he did every bit of it all by himself. He went way over and above. I would recommend him to anybody.

Colonial Van Lines did a great job. Their rep gave me a good estimate. Colonial stuck to their estimate. I had to add a couple of items that are not major ones but there were several and they didn't have any trouble doing that. I just had one or two times where I had to switch between people. It wasn't too disconcerting but it could be a little bit better. The move was planned with a couple of days in between and then somebody called me and said they would do a pack and load on Sunday. Then, it seems like at the last minute, a change was made to Saturday. I have the right days now, which were within the window that it was originally quoted, but I wish they had given me a little more time.
I was closing on my house on a Monday and they were gonna drop the load on a Wednesday. And from New Jersey to Florida, it's a two-day trip by car, which I had to do. I rushed down to make sure I could make it by the 16th. Apparently, the movers had mechanical trouble with the truck so it wasn't delivered until several days later. My son is down here and I was planning to stay with him until I got everything settled in the place. So that didn't inconvenience me. It just caused me to rush down here to make sure I'd be here on this day the delivery was occurring. But you can't forecast mechanical breakdown and the movers themselves were awesome. Everything was intact. There were a couple of little scratches here or there, but nothing on anything significant. There's nothing to worry about so no insurance claims were needed. They unpacked and set up. Those two guys were great. Apparently, their timing was out of their control.

The pickup and delivery were fine. But then as we were unpacking, we noticed things were gone or they were broken. The communication was okay. There were numerous times I had to call to keep communication open. But once I got them communicating, it was fine. But for the amount of money that we paid, I didn't expect to have the stuff damaged or broken and stuff missing. I would have thought it would have been a little bit more taken care of. They told us, "Call us back when all the boxes were emptied." And we did and we said, "It's still not here. Send somebody out here and show us where these boxes are. Because we're done unpacking and it's gone." All they could say was, "I'm sorry." We put in a claim, but we haven't heard anything on the claim.

There were some issues during the interim of our negotiations as far as the pick up and the delivery, and then they wanted to change it. But I stuck to my guns to the schedule that we had agreed on. On the way here to deliver here, they said that if they could park an 18-wheeler. I said, "Oh, yeah, you can park an 18-wheeler here. That's how people move here." So when they were talking about needing to do a transfer and to unload to another smaller vehicle, I told them that what we talked about was that once they loaded this truck here in this house, they would go on and unload it on my next place. They told me from point A to point B and that was what I expect. So, we worked that out. The little issues that we had were easy to work out and we took care of it. It worked out pretty good. My items were handled pretty good. Some boxes were crushed but I haven't even opened them yet. But so far, so good.

I was really impressed with my first contact at Colonial Van Lines. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. However, there was a little miscommunication between the driver and the person who assigned the job. The driver didn't know that they were packing the first day, and he said, "Oh, we're gonna get this done in one day." I said, "Are you sure?" When he showed up, he said, "Yeah, this is a two-day job." That threw them for a loop. The first crew that showed up in Arizona quit and left, but by the time we got the second crew in, they were really on top of it.
Our driver was great, but I felt bad the first day when he showed up. It was, "Oh, this wasn't what we expected," and "My crew quit on me." It was a victim type setting, and that was the hardest thing to get over. In the end, it was okay, but if there was anything that was frustrating, it was that. Also, this is the first time we've used movers, and we had to pay a lot more out of pocket. I negotiated a little, then it ended up being almost $2,000 more than what the rep thought.

Colonial did not keep up with the dates they promised to pick up goods. They did not use moving truck but instead subcontracted by using a regular trailer not equipped with ramp. They did not dispatch loading and unloading crew on time. They damaged the goods. Communication was horrible about informing the status of pick up date and time.

There was nothing that we took exception to, and none of the boxes were crushed. We'd heard from other people that they had that experience, not with Colonial, but with boxes that they packed and that arrived crushed and broken. The services that Colonial Van Lines offered worked out beautifully.

At the start, Colonial was communicative and friendly but the move itself was a total letdown and Colonial took little to no responsibility. Colonial does not use their own drivers and trucks, they use seemingly whoever is in the area. My mover changed dates and times twice within the last 24 hours before the move, a tough ask with family in tow and no way to lock down when they would actually arrive to move our belongings.
When the mover did arrive he did not have anyone with him, attempted to move things on his own, and required the help of my friend who was only there to let them onto the property for me due to their lack of proper scheduling. Two of my items were very badly damaged by this negligence. Colonial also offers the ability to have your vehicle transported and this is also not handled internally but rather outsourced to a gentleman who arrived at my new residence AFTER DRIVING MY VEHICLE TO MY HOME at 6:30 AM (we had discussed dropping it off at 7:30) and repeatedly called my phone until I woke up, and then demand I drive him back to his truck. When I informed Colonial of these issues they offered me $78 for my broken furniture and nothing for the situation with the vehicle because the delivery driver denied that it happened! The added stress and overall dismissiveness of Colonial cannot be overstated.

We have used multiple moving companies in the past. Colonial Van Lines was one of the most unpleasant experiences we ever had. For our move from Connecticut to Austin, Texas: They had us do a phone walkthrough of the house (two bedroom) for an estimate. They came nearly three days after the scheduled date, and delivered 8+ days after the last scheduled date. When they arrived for pick up in Connecticut there was only room on the truck for the specific estimate. As an "estimate" we would hope there would be flexibility in the event that additional items are added on (and we would have been happy to pay the additional cost for these items). Rather in our case - many items were left over and thus we had to pay another moving company to move these items. Rest assured - we did NOT use Colonial for this second move.
Customer Service - nobody will be available until your manager comes to office, so if the manager starts at 12 noon, we have to wait till 12 noon for any queries to be answered. Meanwhile, our moves were supposed to begin around 8-9 am. The service by the truck driver was horrible, though the loaders were good. They charged us extra fees saying and when asked with customer service they said they have to have a special truck come to our house and then reload the luggage in the warehouse - this was all false, they just used one truck for loading from the house and the same truck was used for delivering.
In one of my display units, the glass was totally broken and I still have pictures. The TV was not working after they delivered (which could be opened only after more than a week). With all the trouble and damages they gave me and my family they quoted less than $100 as reimbursement. Not only did we lose an excellent wall unit, we had to spend money out of pocket since the luggage came more than a week after max schedule date.

Colonial Van Lines do not actually move your things. They hire it out to someone else. I was told I’d get 24 hour notice when they were coming to pick up. False. I got a call that they were on the way. One guy! Destination was 12 hours away and I could expect delivery within 14 days. Did not happen. After many phone calls, finally got a call that driver was an hour away. No pre warning. Many boxes were broken and my mother's rocking chair was broken in half. Would never recommend them.

If you are looking for a reliable mover, Colonial Van Lines and their affiliates are NOT that moving company. We were given a quote based on mileage, my inventory and their "industry standards" for weight - no physical survey of my home was offered. Colonial’s customer service is, for all intents and purposes, non-existent. 99% of communication with Colonial was initiated by me - Colonial RARELY returned calls. As a matter of fact, when I asked about the date for the packers, I was given a date only to have the packers arrive a day early, while I was at another appointment.
Our contract with Colonial noted that we needed to be loaded and out of the house on June 30th. Colonial agreed and gave a delivery window between July 5 and July 15th. The packers were finished and ready to load the moving van on Thursday, June 30th but the truck was not in the state so packers needed to load the following day. Colonial's moving van pulled out of my driveway on July 1. After the van had driven off, we realized that they did not load an antique brass bed in the moving trailer. I began asking Colonial how they planned to pick up my bed and add it to the load. I was initially told by Elsie (customer service account manager) that we would discuss after they had delivered all of my load.
On July 12th I called Colonial to ask when the delivery would take place. Customer service told me that the paperwork needed by finance was “just received at 5:57 pm”. Customer service department planned to “expedite the paperwork” and have a final cost and the paperwork to me along with an update by 7/15. Each time I called, I continued asking about the missed bed and each time, Colonial suggested that I ship it at my expense - even though it was inventoried as being moved.
On July 20th, I was promised daily updates by my account manager, Elsie. No calls were made by Colonial and on 7/25 I began making daily calls to Colonial for updates. On July 25th I was told the truck was in Texas and the new delivery window was between 8/1 and 8/7. On July 26th I was told that the truck was still in California. When Colonial said the truck was still in California, I again asked them to pick up the missed bed and again they refused. On 8/4, during one of my daily calls, I was told that the new delivery window was between 8/10 and 8/16. On my call 8/8, I was given a new delivery window between 8/11 and 8/13.
The truck did finally arrive on 8/13!!!! After all of the load was delivered, I noticed some missing pieces right away. I entered the moving truck to find someone else’s load on the truck with some of my furniture mixed in with their load. I am missing 7-10 pieces right now and Colonial has told me that they have not found any of my missing furniture - I highly doubt that they looked! I did find someone else’s box, notified Colonial of this and as of 8/16, Colonial still has not arranged to pick it up. Colonial did not even wrap the mattress - packed it with my linen sheet and then dragged it in and out of the truck only to have that sheet damaged.
I asked to speak to someone from management on 8/3 and not until 8/29 did I receive a call from “Stephanie”. Stephanie had not read my file and was unprepared to discuss any of the particulars in this case. She said she would review and call me back in “24 - 48 hours”. By 9/9 she had not called back. I spoke to Stephanie on 8/16 and was told that Colonial had “completed the contract” and they would not be delivering my antique bed, they would only compensate me $30/day for the 28 day delay (no bed or kitchen items for 28 days), and they had not found my missing furniture or parts. She did acknowledge that I would be filing a damage/loss claim and that would be reviewed at that time. I am still unpacking and with each box I unpack I find broken items. Colonial typically packed non-fragile items in paper but did not pack all of the breakables in paper (they wrapped a box of cotton swabs but did not wrap pottery).

Their superpower is their complete **! I moved from CA to WI back in August. Melissa ** sold me with Colonial… even when I asked that my stuff will not be brokered out to another moving company. Lie #1 they broker it to Cal Van Lines- garbage place. Look them up… They damaged my kitchen floor tile and I submitted quotes for them as asked. I get to WI and my stuff has yet to show up. In fact, they last the deadline and when I called to find out where my stuff was they did not even know and then they said it’s still in CA. Lie#2 - your stuff won’t ship out when they pick it up- they will hold it till their truck gets full and then they will go. That was never told to me by Melissa **.
My stuff finally arrives in WI past the date we agreed to and stuff is damaged. I have yet to receive compensation for the floor damage in CA. Donna finally called me from claims to help resolve the issue. They want to issue $600 for the damage with the caveat that intake down my negative post of them. I said “NO” my integrity is not for sale and for the focus in the real issue which is they damaged my floor. So they came back to me with $300 less in compensation because I would not take down my review. I called the claims department 12/13/2022 to understand how I can receive less than the quotes I provided. I talked to Kenya ** in claims and she says Colonial is not responsible for damage if the movers. Lie #3 - they’ll move your stuff late and damage it and they say they're not responsible. I paid 12k for this move… THE WORST OF THE WORST! Absolutely don’t do it….!

They told us twice our belongings were in storage in Utah, the driver when he finally got here said no, he have picked them up from storage in Arkansas. But there were three that I ended up having back and forth with. I also felt some of the tape and packing jobs could have been a little tighter. I tried to warn about some issues in terms of things needing boxes and that there were stairs on arrival. They said they took note of that. But then that wasn't in my initial quote. I ended up getting charged for that after the fact.
