What is Aptive Environmental?
Aptive Environmental is a pest control company that has been in business since 2015. Aptive offers whole home and yard protection from a variety of pests, including cockroaches, earwigs, fleas, flies, mosquitoes, rodents and more. The company positions itself as improving the lives of its customers by ensuring they can enjoy their spaces without unwanted guests. Along those lines, Aptive also partners with global agencies like United to Beat Malaria and Saminay-El Legado, a K-12 school in the Andes Mountains of Ecuador, to help make a difference.
How does Aptive Environmental work?
You can call Aptive directly or submit an online form to get started. The company doesn’t provide free inspections, but you can get a free quote over the phone.
Aptive’s services generally require a year-long contract. There are three main plans to choose from, all of which target both the inside and outside of your home. However, technicians can only treat attics with finished flooring and crawl spaces that are at least five feet high. Aptive guarantees that if you notice pests between scheduled appointments, a technician will return and re-treat for free, which helps add peace of mind.
- Basic: Treatments every 50 to 80 days. Doesn’t include outdoor rodents, pantry pests, snails, slugs or aphids, but you can add them for an additional fee.
- Pro: Treatments every 30 to 60 days in April through October and every 50 to 80 days in November through March. Includes outdoor rodents, pantry pests, snails, slugs and aphids.
- Premium: Treatments every 20 to 40 days in April through October and every 50 to 80 days in November through March. Includes outdoor rodents, pantry pests, snails, slugs, aphids and mosquitos.

Aptive Environmental costs
All of Aptive’s prices are based on year-long service agreements. As of publishing, a standard initial treatment is $399, with monthly fees ranging from $49 to $99 depending on the frequency of service and the types of pests being treated. This brings annual costs to between $938 and $1,488. Aptive frequently has promotional discounts, so you may be able to get the initial treatment at a lower cost. Customers pay upfront for the initial treatment and then monthly for the length of the contract term. There is a $199 fee for canceling the contract early.
Aptive Environmental FAQ
What chemicals does Aptive Environmental use?
All of Aptive’s products are EPA-approved and customers will receive a list of all the chemicals used on their property. Still have questions?
Is Aptive Environmental worth it?
If you live near a local branch and need to treat several kinds of pests, Aptive is worth considering for year-round pest control and customizable plans. We like that the company promises free re-treatment if pests appear after an appointment. However, if you’re not comfortable signing a year-long contract or paying a sizable fee for canceling early ($199), you may want to explore other options.

I signed up for a two year contract. I canceled my service at the end of the contract. I was charged on a monthly basis. When I called they told me I had agreed to a monthly service which I had not. They canceled again but will not refund the amount charged.
I’m sorry for the frustration and I understand why the delay has been disappointing.
Please reach out to socialmedia@goaptive.com with the service address associated with your Aptive account. Once we have that information, we can locate the account, review the status of the refund, and determine what we can do to assist with getting this resolved.
We appreciate the opportunity to look into this and help get the refund properly handled for you.

Do not sign with Aptive ever!!! They claimed they would treat my whole house and then sent technicians that could not reach the many peaks around my house. We are now experiencing Hornets nest. I requested service for the Hornet's nest to be addressed and when the technician arrived he told me he did not have equipment that could reach the peak. He recommended calling another company! So I called customer service and they sent another technician the following day. This technician also could not reach the hornets nest and told me they are not allowed on ladders.
This company does not have the liability insurance for their employees to actually perform the job thoroughly. And then when I called to cancel my service because they are not actually treating my entire house they said they would be charging be a $199 cancellation fee even though they did not provide the services promised. Horrible experience with customer service!!!! Worst I have ever experienced... This is the first review of a company I have written I was so dissatisfied!!!!
Hi Michelle,
We understand how frustrating it was to have two service professionals unable to reach the hornet nest, especially when you expected your entire home to be treated. At Aptive, service expectations and limitations should be clearly communicated and concerns properly handled. Please reach out to socialmedia@goaptive.com directly so we can review your service history, what was promised, and the cancellation fee.

APTIVE MADE MY BUG PROBLEM WORSE, THEN REFUSED TO LET ME LEAVE. HOW THEY GOT ME: A teenager knocked on my door. Nice kid, polite. I said 12 months was too long. He stepped away, said he was calling his supervisor, came back and told me 6 months was approved just for me. That promise is the only reason I signed.
AT 6 MONTHS: I called to cancel. Aptive said no such agreement existed, no supervisor approved anything, and I was locked in for the full year. The doorstep promise evaporated the second I tried to use it. AFTER 12 MONTHS: The charges didn't stop. I was told the contract auto-converts to month-to-month. Nobody disclosed that at my door. They just kept drawing on the card on file.
THE SERVICE IS WORTHLESS: Techs walk the perimeter, spray a band around the outside, and leave. Fifteen minutes. The insects didn't die - they moved IN. I had more bugs inside my home after treatment than before I hired them. That's not bad luck. Repellent perimeter sprays don't kill a colony. Insects detect the treated band, avoid it, and relocate - through your walls, into your kitchen. UC IPM documents that repellent products make ant colonies split and spread instead of die. Studies show these sprays kill under 20% of roaches, leaving the colony behind the wall untouched. Real pest control uses non-repellent products and baits carried back to the nest. Aptive doesn't. I paid monthly to have my pests relocated into my house.
THE MODEL: Send a likeable teenager to your door, because you'll trust a kid in a polo shirt. Let him say whatever closes the sale. Then deny he had authority to say it, lock you into a contract you were rushed through, and auto-renew it forever. Treat cheap enough to protect the margin, weak enough to keep you needing it. DON'T SIGN AT YOUR DOOR. If it isn't in the written agreement, it doesn't exist.

Been a customer for several years. Service has been “ok” up until the past year. I have had a reoccurring ant problem and needed them to come out before the next service appointment. Called to schedule a respray and was told if it’s been more than 10 days after treatment so I’d have to pay for a full treatment — news to me! I’m on a quarterly program and have always been told “if you have any issues before your next treatment, call and we’ll get right out to take care of it, it’s part of your contract“.
I reluctantly agreed to move my next treatment up a month and scheduled for 3 days later, Rearranged my day to be home to make sure all the areas were treated. No one shows up. No call, no text. Checked email and had a generic message sent that morning telling me my appointment had been rescheduled for 2 WEEKS later! If you’re looking for a company that is responsive, sends the same tech each time so they are familiar with your property, values you and your time, this is NOT the company for you.

BLUF: Can’t get property serviced, can’t get contract cancelled… I am disappointed. Since we cannot seem to get our property serviced, per our contract, nor can we resolve our concerns with Aptive Customer Service Reps, I have posted my grievances on BBB.org and will continue to provide my experience on other online review platforms (Google Maps, Yelp, etc.). Disappointed in the decline since being a customer since 2022.
5 stars for Omaha, NE
0 stars for O’Fallon, IL (St. Louis Metro East)
We used this service for 2+ years in Omaha, NE. They mostly performed well with their services and we were satisfied. However, When we moved to O’Fallon, IL (St. Louis Metro East) in the summer of 2025 and transferred our service to this address. Sadly, the service drastically declined. It is 1 Aug 2026, and we haven’t been able to receive service since April 2026. And yet we can’t cancel without being fined…
We have been customers since 2022, and during a renewal in 2024, we were told we could cancel anytime since we had completed our initial contract. According to representatives, we are wrong in our account of how the renewal pitch was described to us. That’s frustrating because I asked the sale person to repeated that twice when that was spoken and I asked for that to be clarified and repeated right before the phone conversation ended. But now, we are being “held hostage” by a service we can’t cancel nor can we get our property serviced. An appointment is made, only to be rescheduled and then canceled or rescheduled again: repeat since our last service. Disappointed.

I contracted with Adaptive in June of 2025. Since then, they have missed more than 8 appointments without ever apologizing, rescheduling, etc. They say that the service allows you to schedule anytime and multiple times a month. I specifically wanted this due to mosquitoes in the summer months. They want you to schedule on their calendar and it usually is at least a month or more out to schedule. It won't let you schedule more than one either. Once scheduled, I get emails and text saying they will be there, etc. and they never do. They do not reschedule, basically no communication at all but still charge $99.00 a month.
I called to cancel contract for this reason and they need to charge me $250.00 to break the contract even though they do not do what is expected. I then got yet another $99.00 charge and $49.00 charge, I called back to cancel and was told best they could do was to end contract on the end of August and $69.00. They also scheduled 2 more services to try and show they want my business, they scheduled the first appointment July 29th. I got an email and text message saying they would contact me when in the way. It is now July 31st and I haven't heard a word, they did not show up or send a message, call to reschedule. This is ridiculous and the worst company I have ever worked with.

I have been an Aptive customer for several years, and I really don't have any issues with pests. The treatments have been effective. However, I signed up for quarterly services, but they would schedule services every 6-8 weeks, charging me the full amount each time. I called 4 times about this, and was adamant that they schedule me quarterly. I went so far as to set specific dates for the remainder of the year each quarter, and they still showed up a month early. There is no way this is an accident. I believe they are intentionally over-scheduling services, knowing that most people won't really notice the frequency. This is a very unethical business practice, and I gave the company multiple chances to do better. It's a shame, too, as the treatment service was pretty good until they got too greedy.

Even after doing that customer service did not allow me to terminate the contract and tried trapping me into another year contract and projected as if they are doing this as a favor. Had a 1-year contract with Aptive. It worked decent, the guy who came to my house was friendly and knowledgeable. The last month, Ii called their customer service three separate times to get my renewal cancelled, and here's how it went.
Phone call 2: ** accent, I could understand about 25% of the conversation. I hung up mid-call to try and reach someone competent again.
Phone call 3: ** accent, I could understand 50% of the conversation, but I stayed on the line anyway since it didn't seem like I was going to get much better than that. I said I wanted to cancel my auto-renew and not sign up for another contract. The lady on the line named "Melissa" said that my account would have "No auto renew, this will be the last service", and "no charge for the June service." I asked her to repeat it back to me 3 more times while I recorded the call so I would have absolute proof that this was said.
Today I see that I have a bill for them and that I was auto-renewed, even after verifying multiple times on the self-recorded call that it was in fact cancelled. Fortunately, when I signed up I gave them a digital credit card from Privacy.com, and I immediately deleted that card when the contract expired, so the payment was declined anyways. But, it's not about the declined payment or the money, it's about honor, keeping your word, and being competent.
I called back again and got a lady with yet again an ** accent that I could understand maybe 25% of the conversation. To sum up the call, the previous rep that I talked to and confirmed multiple times that my account was closed made an 'oopsie' and forgot to close the account, even after confirming it was closed 3 separate times??? If you sign up for any service, whether it be through Aptive or any other company, do yourself a favor and:
1. Make a free privacy.com account so you can cancel on YOUR terms, NOT THEIRS.2. Call their customer service and speak to a representative before signing or paying anything. If their accent isn't from a 1st world western country, don't sign up in the first place.

I would give a negative 5 if I could. They have ruined our home. I would give a negative 5 if I could. Called them out as we had a Waterbug problem "Outside" our home. The water bug issue stopped in an acceptable time. We also have rats at the chicken coop because there is an abundance of food. They brought poisons for a year and never really eliminated the problem. I did much better with positive kills using a 22 snake shot shell.
That is the least of our concerns. We have been here over 20 years with Zero pests inside the home. After their service started, we now have 4 different types of Roaches! This should never happen naturally. They are either planting them here for job security, or, bringing them in on the clothes or tools. 25 years really here with Zero issues. Now I have to have the house fumigated, which will probably not get them all, so they will begin to reappear. APTIVE has ruined our home beyond repair.

Not happy with Aptive Service. I signed up in May they came out to spray the next week. We told them it was especially for the ants inside the house and outside little ants. Aptive said they had wonderful specialist and they sprayed days later ants all over. We called and they said I had to wait 15 days we did and still ants everywhere. I called spoke to another rep who said sometimes it takes another specialist to come out which they did we are now in June ants every still. Told them I wanted to cancel my contact, and they said it was $199 to cancel. This was never told to me, and they said it was a two-year contact. I asked for a 1 year which they updated but never mentioned the $199.
Now we are at the middle of June ants everywhere talked to many people I can give a list of names. Funny each time they said a manager will call me back after a meeting, never happened so the rep offered as they said they very best person to spray and take care of it this time. 3rd time still ants. Left message with the manager in our area still no call back. Today they called me to schedule a 4th spray, and I said I need it escalated! Today again he said he will have the manager call but they are about to go into a MEETING, that all I get never a call back. I want my contract cancelled. I want a refund because no matter how many time, I call ALL I get are excuses why I still have ants and it may take months to go away. WHAT!!! They asked for my business in door-to-door campaign. I agreed to 1 yr, focus on FIRE ANTS. 1 yr later - still have fire ants, probably more than before. Called 3 months in advance to cancel service and am still being charged. I did reviews and voiced dissatisfaction - no one in management ever called to follow up on ANY thing I asked about. The service guys run the company it seems, and the chemicals used are so "friendly" they do not kill many pests. Had to ask them for everything - mosquito traps, mice traps, fly traps, ETC - and several times they were out of the baits and had none on their trucks. They get 2 stars because the reps are friendly.

Company is absolute trash!! I was lied to by the sales rep that knocked on my door offering services that the company does not even provide. After speaking to the technicians and finding out that rodent exclusion services were not available, I called their office hoping to find a resolution. I was met with zero help or any alternatives to resolve the issue. They dismissed the whole fact that i was lied to and was more worried about collecting the $199 cancellation fee. I discontinued services and asked to speak to a supervisor. Again I was met with no help and a bit of hostility. I was told “Your services has been cancelled, you will not receive any more calls from us and that you will have to pay the $199 early cancellation fee. That is all.”
Basically I feel defrauded. I have no problem paying for the services that was provided but the cancellation fee should have been waived since I cancelled due to being lied to and the company are unable to provide the services I specifically needed. Avoid this company at all cost if you don’t want to have your money stolen from. If you see anyone at your door with that Aptive shirt on just kindly slam the door on their face and tell them they are trespassing. Minus stars is more accurate. Aptive techs who do the servicing are always nice people. However, the Aptive Environmental company and management only exists on paper. When something goes wrong they are unreachable, invisible, and will not make contact. The Aptive termite tech punched a large hole in a water line in my yard and water spouted out. I shut off water until I could get it repaired. Meanwhile, daily calls to Aptive only resulted in phone techs telling me I would be contacted in 24 hours.
It cost me $300 to repair the damage caused by Aptive and now, 3 weeks later, I am still being told by phone techs that they are sorry but their managers and team leaders and higher-ups are not getting back to them on this matter. Aptive is refusing to contact me in any form. I am now forced to waste more time and money by taking the company to Small Claims Court to get Aptive to reimburse me for the damage they caused. No ethics or integrity. This experience was forced upon me by 2 rude sales reps who knocked on our door that said no soliciting. Note that the reps are committing criminal trespass when doing this under Texas Penal Code $30.05. The female of the two reps smirked rudely when I pointed out the sign and pompously claimed "Oh, I don't have my contacts on today so I can't read that". Funny that my security camera has her waving at the camera on her approach from plenty far away to indicate she can see fine. Both reps claimed they had the permits required to knock in our neighborhood, and then refused to provide them. The company says: "Aptive sales representatives will always have a verifiable ID badge."
Both reps refused to give permits, sales ID badges, or even a business card. Then, calling into the main company to complain, I was told they were going to connect me to someone who would help me address this, and then they hung up on me. Fortunately, I have 2 videos, both with audio, plus the recorded phone call, and I found neighbors with similar experiences of the same two people. Once I've received the videos from my other neighbors, I'm posting all of them to many social media platforms next week. I won't go to that extent if I get a call from a manager (and a response to this message) who proves this is being fixed and not taught as a sales tactic since it is illegal, as well as verification that the rep is fired or a direct apology received from that rep via phone. My name and phone number was left with the 2nd rep I talked with on the phone when calling in to the main company line.

My Fiancée and I have never been so upset by a company. This is not a joke, every single month when they give us the scheduled day they will come to spray for pests comes and goes and every single time we have to call and complain about the fact that no one has shown up to do the work they are paid to do. Also my Fiancée was definitely pushed to get the year contract for pest control which I understand as a sales tactic. If your going to do that though you better show up and do what your paid to do. I am absolutely shocked they are still in business and wish there was a way to be refunded or at least cancel the contract there not filling there end of the bargain on.
Hi Taylor,
We’re sorry to hear about the repeated missed appointments and the frustration this has caused you and your fiancée. That’s not the experience we want with Aptive. We also understand your concerns about expectations set at sign-up and follow-through on service visits. We’d like the chance to review your account. I'm on a schedule with Aptive Environmental. They send me an email telling me the next show date, and if the date and time is okay. I didn't have to speak to anybody. They just send me a date and an all-day time period. A tech from Aptive, usually, tells me that they're within the vicinity and they'll be showing up within the hour to visit my house. The techs seem to know what the service was. They have a record of it, and I just go over the basic things that I expect to have service. Once we have the conversation, they go ahead and do the work.
Since having the service, I don't have that many insects or bugs crawling around. I live up in the foothills of Mount Diablo. When I first moved here, I used to have a lot of spiders and insects in all kind of unexpected places. Mostly, the spider problem was the issue. I started to use Aptive two years ago, and I've been pretty satisfied ever since. I have always had a positive experience with them. I've never had a problem with any of the visits. Some of the techs even point out things that I didn't know were occurring. One of the techs pointed out a couple wasps nests that were under the eaves. I never noticed it at all, but he brought it to my attention and he took care of it.
After the tech finishes his job, there is always a request asking, "How did we do? or "Did we cover everything that you requested or expected?" I always get a service information for that day of service, and it lists out what they applied and did and what issues they came across, which is very helpful. I have the basic service, and it's short, especially being that I have a regular service with them. But everything is fine.
Hi there,
Thank you for sharing your experience with Aptive Environmental. We’re glad to hear the scheduling process, consistent communication, and service visits have been convenient and reliable for you. It’s great that your service professionals have been proactive in identifying and addressing issues like wasp nests. We appreciate your continued trust over the past two years, and we’re happy to keep your pest concerns handled so you can enjoy your home.

I have had Aptive Pest Control for years under a contract I signed and have proof of at the start of service stating that I was paying a quarterly fee of $149 dollars for treatment and unlimited returns if necessary. This worked flawlessly until I noticed numerous unauthorized charges of $160 dollars every 3 or 4 weeks. When I called to question the charges I was told that the plan changed without notice and every visit (scheduled or unscheduled) was charged at a higher rate.
I informed that that I never agreed to this or signed any contact with these prices. The District Supervisor confirmed that I was never previously made aware of this or signed any contract. He also admitted that my prior contract did not expire or make any mention of a price change. Regardless, after he admitted they made these charges without my knowledge or consent he refused to reimburse me the money they took and told me to cancel if I did not like the new terms which I promptly did. I would not recommend this company in any way, shape or form. Totally dishonest.

Their salesman was misleading and when I explained what I needed done he said their treatments would cover it. After there was no effect in getting rid of voles I explained it to the company which told me I shouldn't be receiving the service for my service level and they didn't treat for Voles in Kentucky. When we moved, I decided to cancel the service, and their representative told me I had to prove I had moved by emailing them a verified document. It took me 10 minutes to get her to explain I needed a lease agreement, mortgage statement or utility statement. I had fulfilled all the requirements of the contract, both time and services and she wouldn't cancel it until I sent them the document.
Thank you for bringing this situation to our attention. I'm sorry to hear about your experience and the frustrations it has caused. Our apologize that the treatments did not meet your expectations and that these specifics were not communicated clearly by our salesman. We take these matters seriously and are eager to address this oversight wherever appropriate. Aptive comes once a month and they send me snapshots of the work that they've done. They schedule the service and I get an initial email about it. The technician also calls me up and says that they're on their way. If I'm home, they'll knock on the door and ask me if I have any areas of concern. I have occasional problems still with gnats in the summertime. But other than that, I haven't had any problems. They offered to come into the house if I had any specific needs in the house but I just needed service for outside maintenance. The occasional cricket gets in, but that's about it. Also, we used to have the million leggers bugs but I haven't had any of that lately. If friends and family are having problems, I would tell them that Aptive would be good for them to go see.
Thank you for sharing your wonderfully detailed review of our services at Aptive Environmental. We're thrilled to hear that you appreciate our proactive communication efforts and transparency with service snapshots. Aptive Environmental was here a week ago. They did the treatment at the house, and everything went fine. My concern was mainly ants getting into the house, and I wanted to eliminate any possibility of that. So they went around and did whatever they felt they needed to do. Their technician, I'd say, at least 85%-90% were very good and very knowledgeable.
I seem to have lesser problems than I had before I used them. The only issue I had was being billed for a free treatment. And by the time Aptive noticed it, it already gone through the billing cycle. But they reimbursed me the money they charged me within a couple of days.
Thank you for sharing your positive experience with Aptive Environmental. We're pleased to hear that, overall, you are satisfied with how our services have reduced pest issues, particularly ants, in your home. We apologize for the billing error you experienced, but it’s reassuring to know that the issue was resolved promptly with a refund.

He goes, "I'll take care of that. But it is ants season so I'm gonna go ahead and spray for that as well." So he did that and let me know he was done and left. It was great. I haven't seen any ants, or any kind of bugs.
I have no problems with scheduling. I had to reschedule because I was out of town, but it was easy. I love that I get an email saying the date they're coming out and I get a text message saying, "I'll be there in 15 or 20 minutes." I had one of their technicians come out on a routine. They come out and spray the property every once in a while. I don't remember exactly the frequency, but it's effectively every month during the summer and every two or two and a half months during the winter. They're very professional, and I have no problems with them whatsoever. They're very easy to work with. They send me a text message to let me know when they're on their way, and they also let me know when they arrive.
I work a few miles away from my house, so I'll come meet them so they can get inside. They're patient and will wait if I need a few minutes to get to the house. They know what they're doing, and I get a sense that they understand their role and their job. They're very prompt, courteous, polite, and happy to have a conversation while they work.
They pay attention to everything that I point out, so if I have any areas of concern, they'll come out and pay extra attention to that. I've had no problems with their hands-on service. They also send a follow-up explanation and pictures to show where they focused around the property. I had yellow jackets on the side of my house, and they came out and took care of it without any extra charge.
As far as pest activity, it's virtually disappeared. I have an old house, and since starting service, the pests have been greatly reduced. I might get the occasional spider or fly, but compared to before, it's a massive reduction. I believe their service is well worth it.
All their traps also show evidence of their effectiveness. The yellow jacket trap is full of yellow jackets, and the mosquito trap is full of mosquitoes. I've already recommended them to my neighbors. I would describe them as fast, courteous, professional, and effective.
