What is Aptive Environmental?

Aptive Environmental is a pest control company that has been in business since 2015. Aptive offers whole home and yard protection from a variety of pests, including cockroaches, earwigs, fleas, flies, mosquitoes, rodents and more. The company positions itself as improving the lives of its customers by ensuring they can enjoy their spaces without unwanted guests. Along those lines, Aptive also partners with global agencies like United to Beat Malaria and Saminay-El Legado, a K-12 school in the Andes Mountains of Ecuador, to help make a difference.

How does Aptive Environmental work?

You can call Aptive directly or submit an online form to get started. The company doesn’t provide free inspections, but you can get a free quote over the phone.

Aptive’s services generally require a year-long contract. There are three main plans to choose from, all of which target both the inside and outside of your home. However, technicians can only treat attics with finished flooring and crawl spaces that are at least five feet high. Aptive guarantees that if you notice pests between scheduled appointments, a technician will return and re-treat for free, which helps add peace of mind.

  • Basic: Treatments every 50 to 80 days. Doesn’t include outdoor rodents, pantry pests, snails, slugs or aphids, but you can add them for an additional fee.
  • Pro: Treatments every 30 to 60 days in April through October and every 50 to 80 days in November through March. Includes outdoor rodents, pantry pests, snails, slugs and aphids.
  • Premium: Treatments every 20 to 40 days in April through October and every 50 to 80 days in November through March. Includes outdoor rodents, pantry pests, snails, slugs, aphids and mosquitos.

Aptive Environmental pest control services

Aptive treats a range of household pests, including:

  • Ants
  • Cockroaches
  • Flying pests (houses flies, gnats)
  • Garden pests (snails, aphids, beetles, silverfish)
  • Pantry pests (Indianmeal moths, flour beetles)
  • Rodents
  • Spiders
  • Stingers & biters (scorpions, wasps)

Depending on the plan you choose, there may be additional charges for treating certain pests.

Aptive Environmental costs

All of Aptive’s prices are based on year-long service agreements. As of publishing, a standard initial treatment is $399, with monthly fees ranging from $49 to $99 depending on the frequency of service and the types of pests being treated. This brings annual costs to between $938 and $1,488. Aptive frequently has promotional discounts, so you may be able to get the initial treatment at a lower cost. Customers pay upfront for the initial treatment and then monthly for the length of the contract term. There is a $199 fee for canceling the contract early.

Aptive Environmental FAQ

What chemicals does Aptive Environmental use?

All of Aptive’s products are EPA-approved and customers will receive a list of all the chemicals used on their property. The chemicals used depend on the season, the type and life stage of the pest and your location —  some products aren’t registered for use in all states. A full list of Aptive’s pest-control products can be found on the website.

Is Aptive Environmental safe for pets?

In general, the chemicals Aptive uses are safe for pets. However, the company advises that people and animals should stay away from treated areas until they’re completely dry, typically two to three hours. Customers with birds or aquariums should either remove them from the house during treatment or cover them completely.

Does Aptive Environmental have payment plans?

Aptive does not offer payment plans. When you sign a contract, you’ll pay for the initial treatment and then each month thereafter to continue your services.

Does Aptive Environmental do free inspections?

No, Aptive does not offer free inspections.

Aptive is available in 29 states, though it may not serve all areas within each state:

  • Arizona
  • California
  • Colorado

Still have questions?

Is Aptive Environmental worth it?

If you live near a local branch and need to treat several kinds of pests, Aptive is worth considering for year-round pest control and customizable plans. We like that the company promises free re-treatment if pests appear after an appointment. However, if you’re not comfortable signing a year-long contract or paying a sizable fee for canceling early ($199), you may want to explore other options.

Minus stars is more accurate. Aptive techs who do the servicing are always nice people. However, the Aptive Environmental company and management only exists on paper. When something goes wrong they are unreachable, invisible, and will not make contact. The Aptive termite tech punched a large hole in a water line in my yard and water spouted out. I shut off water until I could get it repaired. Meanwhile, daily calls to Aptive only resulted in phone techs telling me I would be contacted in 24 hours.

It cost me $300 to repair the damage caused by Aptive and now, 3 weeks later, I am still being told by phone techs that they are sorry but their managers and team leaders and higher-ups are not getting back to them on this matter. Aptive is refusing to contact me in any form. I am now forced to waste more time and money by taking the company to Small Claims Court to get Aptive to reimburse me for the damage they caused. I am warning everyone away from this irresponsible company that only cares about collecting your money.

Predatory, cancelled multiple times, still show up to your house. Made wife feel uncomfortable when she turned them away. Had to call multiple times to escalate and finally cancel, logged in and they just froze it, did not cancel. Every escalation is met with a hard sale and discussion meant to wear you down. Don't work with this company ever.

This was a nightmare of an experience. The local agents are fine, but the product is bad, and the trick their agents played on me to sign up and then not willing to discontinue their service was unacceptable and horrendous. Customer service is in a foreign country - cannot follow them, and they are adamant to not listen and cancel the services. Probably under pressure from management. Please do not sign up with Aptive.

No ethics or integrity. This experience was forced upon me by 2 rude sales reps who knocked on our door that said no soliciting. Note that the reps are committing criminal trespass when doing this under Texas Penal Code $30.05. The female of the two reps smirked rudely when I pointed out the sign and pompously claimed "Oh, I don't have my contacts on today so I can't read that". Funny that my security camera has her waving at the camera on her approach from plenty far away to indicate she can see fine. Both reps claimed they had the permits required to knock in our neighborhood, and then refused to provide them. The company says: "Aptive sales representatives will always have a verifiable ID badge."

Both reps refused to give permits, sales ID badges, or even a business card. Then, calling into the main company to complain, I was told they were going to connect me to someone who would help me address this, and then they hung up on me. Fortunately, I have 2 videos, both with audio, plus the recorded phone call, and I found neighbors with similar experiences of the same two people. Once I've received the videos from my other neighbors, I'm posting all of them to many social media platforms next week. I won't go to that extent if I get a call from a manager (and a response to this message) who proves this is being fixed and not taught as a sales tactic since it is illegal, as well as verification that the rep is fired or a direct apology received from that rep via phone. My name and phone number was left with the 2nd rep I talked with on the phone when calling in to the main company line.

My Fiancée and I have never been so upset by a company. This is not a joke, every single month when they give us the scheduled day they will come to spray for pests comes and goes and every single time we have to call and complain about the fact that no one has shown up to do the work they are paid to do. Also my Fiancée was definitely pushed to get the year contract for pest control which I understand as a sales tactic. If your going to do that though you better show up and do what your paid to do. I am absolutely shocked they are still in business and wish there was a way to be refunded or at least cancel the contract there not filling there end of the bargain on.

I'm on a schedule with Aptive Environmental. They send me an email telling me the next show date, and if the date and time is okay. I didn't have to speak to anybody. They just send me a date and an all-day time period. A tech from Aptive, usually, tells me that they're within the vicinity and they'll be showing up within the hour to visit my house. The techs seem to know what the service was. They have a record of it, and I just go over the basic things that I expect to have service. Once we have the conversation, they go ahead and do the work.

Since having the service, I don't have that many insects or bugs crawling around. I live up in the foothills of Mount Diablo. When I first moved here, I used to have a lot of spiders and insects in all kind of unexpected places. Mostly, the spider problem was the issue. I started to use Aptive two years ago, and I've been pretty satisfied ever since. I have always had a positive experience with them. I've never had a problem with any of the visits. Some of the techs even point out things that I didn't know were occurring. One of the techs pointed out a couple wasps nests that were under the eaves. I never noticed it at all, but he brought it to my attention and he took care of it.

After the tech finishes his job, there is always a request asking, "How did we do? or "Did we cover everything that you requested or expected?" I always get a service information for that day of service, and it lists out what they applied and did and what issues they came across, which is very helpful. I have the basic service, and it's short, especially being that I have a regular service with them. But everything is fine.

I have had Aptive Pest Control for years under a contract I signed and have proof of at the start of service stating that I was paying a quarterly fee of $149 dollars for treatment and unlimited returns if necessary. This worked flawlessly until I noticed numerous unauthorized charges of $160 dollars every 3 or 4 weeks. When I called to question the charges I was told that the plan changed without notice and every visit (scheduled or unscheduled) was charged at a higher rate.

I informed that that I never agreed to this or signed any contact with these prices. The District Supervisor confirmed that I was never previously made aware of this or signed any contract. He also admitted that my prior contract did not expire or make any mention of a price change. Regardless, after he admitted they made these charges without my knowledge or consent he refused to reimburse me the money they took and told me to cancel if I did not like the new terms which I promptly did. I would not recommend this company in any way, shape or form. Totally dishonest.

Their salesman was misleading and when I explained what I needed done he said their treatments would cover it. After there was no effect in getting rid of voles I explained it to the company which told me I shouldn't be receiving the service for my service level and they didn't treat for Voles in Kentucky. When we moved, I decided to cancel the service, and their representative told me I had to prove I had moved by emailing them a verified document. It took me 10 minutes to get her to explain I needed a lease agreement, mortgage statement or utility statement. I had fulfilled all the requirements of the contract, both time and services and she wouldn't cancel it until I sent them the document.

Aptive comes once a month and they send me snapshots of the work that they've done. They schedule the service and I get an initial email about it. The technician also calls me up and says that they're on their way. If I'm home, they'll knock on the door and ask me if I have any areas of concern. I have occasional problems still with gnats in the summertime. But other than that, I haven't had any problems. They offered to come into the house if I had any specific needs in the house but I just needed service for outside maintenance. The occasional cricket gets in, but that's about it. Also, we used to have the million leggers bugs but I haven't had any of that lately. If friends and family are having problems, I would tell them that Aptive would be good for them to go see.
