What is Aptive Environmental?

Aptive Environmental is a pest control company that has been in business since 2015. Aptive offers whole home and yard protection from a variety of pests, including cockroaches, earwigs, fleas, flies, mosquitoes, rodents and more. The company positions itself as improving the lives of its customers by ensuring they can enjoy their spaces without unwanted guests. Along those lines, Aptive also partners with global agencies like United to Beat Malaria and Saminay-El Legado, a K-12 school in the Andes Mountains of Ecuador, to help make a difference.

How does Aptive Environmental work?

You can call Aptive directly or submit an online form to get started. The company doesn’t provide free inspections, but you can get a free quote over the phone.

Aptive’s services generally require a year-long contract. There are three main plans to choose from, all of which target both the inside and outside of your home. However, technicians can only treat attics with finished flooring and crawl spaces that are at least five feet high. Aptive guarantees that if you notice pests between scheduled appointments, a technician will return and re-treat for free, which helps add peace of mind.

  • Basic: Treatments every 50 to 80 days. Doesn’t include outdoor rodents, pantry pests, snails, slugs or aphids, but you can add them for an additional fee.
  • Pro: Treatments every 30 to 60 days in April through October and every 50 to 80 days in November through March. Includes outdoor rodents, pantry pests, snails, slugs and aphids.
  • Premium: Treatments every 20 to 40 days in April through October and every 50 to 80 days in November through March. Includes outdoor rodents, pantry pests, snails, slugs, aphids and mosquitos.

Aptive Environmental pest control services

Aptive treats a range of household pests, including:

  • Ants
  • Cockroaches
  • Flying pests (houses flies, gnats)
  • Garden pests (snails, aphids, beetles, silverfish)
  • Pantry pests (Indianmeal moths, flour beetles)
  • Rodents
  • Spiders
  • Stingers & biters (scorpions, wasps)

Depending on the plan you choose, there may be additional charges for treating certain pests.

Aptive Environmental costs

All of Aptive’s prices are based on year-long service agreements. As of publishing, a standard initial treatment is $399, with monthly fees ranging from $49 to $99 depending on the frequency of service and the types of pests being treated. This brings annual costs to between $938 and $1,488. Aptive frequently has promotional discounts, so you may be able to get the initial treatment at a lower cost. Customers pay upfront for the initial treatment and then monthly for the length of the contract term. There is a $199 fee for canceling the contract early.

Aptive Environmental FAQ

What chemicals does Aptive Environmental use?

All of Aptive’s products are EPA-approved and customers will receive a list of all the chemicals used on their property. The chemicals used depend on the season, the type and life stage of the pest and your location —  some products aren’t registered for use in all states. A full list of Aptive’s pest-control products can be found on the website.

Is Aptive Environmental safe for pets?

In general, the chemicals Aptive uses are safe for pets. However, the company advises that people and animals should stay away from treated areas until they’re completely dry, typically two to three hours. Customers with birds or aquariums should either remove them from the house during treatment or cover them completely.

Does Aptive Environmental have payment plans?

Aptive does not offer payment plans. When you sign a contract, you’ll pay for the initial treatment and then each month thereafter to continue your services.

Does Aptive Environmental do free inspections?

No, Aptive does not offer free inspections.

Where is Aptive Environmental available?

Aptive is available in 29 states, though it may not serve all areas within each state:

  • Arizona
  • California
  • Colorado
  • Delaware
  • Florida
  • Georgia
  • Illinois
  • Indiana
  • Iowa

Still have questions?

Is Aptive Environmental worth it?

If you live near a local branch and need to treat several kinds of pests, Aptive is worth considering for year-round pest control and customizable plans. We like that the company promises free re-treatment if pests appear after an appointment. However, if you’re not comfortable signing a year-long contract or paying a sizable fee for canceling early ($199), you may want to explore other options.

Worst customer service ever. They don't listen to the customers and don't follow instructions. Scheduling treatments sooner than quarterly. Charging my credit cards without authorization. Don't use Aptive. Find another pest company. You'll be glad you did.

Not happy with Aptive Service. I signed up in May they came out to spray the next week. We told them it was especially for the ants inside the house and outside little ants. Aptive said they had wonderful specialist and they sprayed days later ants all over. We called and they said I had to wait 15 days we did and still ants everywhere. I called spoke to another rep who said sometimes it takes another specialist to come out which they did we are now in June ants every still. Told them I wanted to cancel my contact, and they said it was $199 to cancel. This was never told to me, and they said it was a two-year contact. I asked for a 1 year which they updated but never mentioned the $199.

Now we are at the middle of June ants everywhere talked to many people I can give a list of names. Funny each time they said a manager will call me back after a meeting, never happened so the rep offered as they said they very best person to spray and take care of it this time. 3rd time still ants. Left message with the manager in our area still no call back. Today they called me to schedule a 4th spray, and I said I need it escalated! Today again he said he will have the manager call but they are about to go into a MEETING, that all I get never a call back. I want my contract cancelled. I want a refund because no matter how many time, I call ALL I get are excuses why I still have ants and it may take months to go away. WHAT!!! Please this has been the worst experience I ever had and I didn't discuss the people that came out to SPRAY that another paragraph!!

They asked for my business in door-to-door campaign. I agreed to 1 yr, focus on FIRE ANTS. 1 yr later - still have fire ants, probably more than before. Called 3 months in advance to cancel service and am still being charged. I did reviews and voiced dissatisfaction - no one in management ever called to follow up on ANY thing I asked about. The service guys run the company it seems, and the chemicals used are so "friendly" they do not kill many pests. Had to ask them for everything - mosquito traps, mice traps, fly traps, ETC - and several times they were out of the baits and had none on their trucks. They get 2 stars because the reps are friendly.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. This sales guy who approached me at home had me sign up and NEVER told me about a 12 month early termination fee of $199. This seems to be a trend and I'm thinking there should be a class lawsuit on this company. I'm sending a certified letter to the company as to why I will not pay the $199 fee. Fingers crossed, but from what I read, this is their common practice and have many past angry customers.

Company is absolute trash!! I was lied to by the sales rep that knocked on my door offering services that the company does not even provide. After speaking to the technicians and finding out that rodent exclusion services were not available, I called their office hoping to find a resolution. I was met with zero help or any alternatives to resolve the issue. They dismissed the whole fact that i was lied to and was more worried about collecting the $199 cancellation fee. I discontinued services and asked to speak to a supervisor. Again I was met with no help and a bit of hostility. I was told “Your services has been cancelled, you will not receive any more calls from us and that you will have to pay the $199 early cancellation fee. That is all.”

Basically I feel defrauded. I have no problem paying for the services that was provided but the cancellation fee should have been waived since I cancelled due to being lied to and the company are unable to provide the services I specifically needed. Avoid this company at all cost if you don’t want to have your money stolen from. If you see anyone at your door with that Aptive shirt on just kindly slam the door on their face and tell them they are trespassing. This was a horrible experience that hopefully no one else should encounter. I literally paid a total of $429 for 1 month of service. What a joke!!!

Minus stars is more accurate. Aptive techs who do the servicing are always nice people. However, the Aptive Environmental company and management only exists on paper. When something goes wrong they are unreachable, invisible, and will not make contact. The Aptive termite tech punched a large hole in a water line in my yard and water spouted out. I shut off water until I could get it repaired. Meanwhile, daily calls to Aptive only resulted in phone techs telling me I would be contacted in 24 hours.

It cost me $300 to repair the damage caused by Aptive and now, 3 weeks later, I am still being told by phone techs that they are sorry but their managers and team leaders and higher-ups are not getting back to them on this matter. Aptive is refusing to contact me in any form. I am now forced to waste more time and money by taking the company to Small Claims Court to get Aptive to reimburse me for the damage they caused. I am warning everyone away from this irresponsible company that only cares about collecting your money.

No ethics or integrity. This experience was forced upon me by 2 rude sales reps who knocked on our door that said no soliciting. Note that the reps are committing criminal trespass when doing this under Texas Penal Code $30.05. The female of the two reps smirked rudely when I pointed out the sign and pompously claimed "Oh, I don't have my contacts on today so I can't read that". Funny that my security camera has her waving at the camera on her approach from plenty far away to indicate she can see fine. Both reps claimed they had the permits required to knock in our neighborhood, and then refused to provide them. The company says: "Aptive sales representatives will always have a verifiable ID badge."

Both reps refused to give permits, sales ID badges, or even a business card. Then, calling into the main company to complain, I was told they were going to connect me to someone who would help me address this, and then they hung up on me. Fortunately, I have 2 videos, both with audio, plus the recorded phone call, and I found neighbors with similar experiences of the same two people. Once I've received the videos from my other neighbors, I'm posting all of them to many social media platforms next week. I won't go to that extent if I get a call from a manager (and a response to this message) who proves this is being fixed and not taught as a sales tactic since it is illegal, as well as verification that the rep is fired or a direct apology received from that rep via phone. My name and phone number was left with the 2nd rep I talked with on the phone when calling in to the main company line.
