I just put three peppers in my pan to grill at 400 degrees, turned them twice, next thing you know I hear an explosion. The whole entire pan exploded into pieces in my oven. Thankfully no one was hurt but glass pieces hurt the inside of the oven door...I’m trying to find a consumer number to call and complain but cannot find one. If someone knows of one please write it to me. I have pictures but I can’t seem to upload...I did research the pan and it does not say specific degrees so I’m very upset.

Recently purchased an Anchor Hocking 9x13” casserole glassware dish at Walmart. Baked in dish. All was well. Cleaned dish and put in dishwasher. Dishwasher ran in early evening and finished cycle by 8:30PM. Next morning, I opened dishwasher to air dry any dishes that may still be wet. After airing dry, my daughters were unloading the dishwasher and pulled a bowl out that was next to the casserole dish. The bowl barely tapped the dish and it exploded. No other words for the sound and mess that happened. Thankfully no one was hurt, but the mess was unbelievable.

The whole piece shattered to many pieces and smaller pieces continued to “pop” and shatter more, 10 minutes after the initial burst. I have vacuumed the dishwasher twice as well as run it twice, but still finding shards and glass dust everywhere. Called customer service and said a ticket would be filed without any of my contact information. I was able to give my information before getting off the phone, but doubt anything will happen. Because no one was hurt, it seemed that the company didn’t have any concern about the product. I’m appalled that this product is still on the shelf after seeing all these reviews. I’m furious that I may have to replace my dishwasher, but that my children were at risk.

She told me to take it back where I got it. I asked why as that was an inconvenience. I also told her that I would leave a review about their customer service. She said OK and did not offer any any help. I told her I will never use them again, and she just said "Ok". No concern or apologies.

Anchor Class's hard plastic lids begin to deteriorate and drop plastic into food within 2 years of use. They blister, peel and crack even though they weren't misused. Their soft covers with a window experience fry rot causing them to become sticky and fall apart. You can buy new lids for about a dollar less than buying a new container with lid. Sounds like planned obsolescence. Their plastic should be inspected.

I bought an Anchor Hocking batter bowl today to make a microwave pie filling in. The label on the bowl said that it would go from refrigerator to freezer to microwave and could be washed in the dishwasher. I had just finished hand-washing dishes so I pulled the rubber lid off the bowl and peeled the stickers off. I held the batter bowl by the handle and lowered it into the warm dishwater. As soon as I put the bowl in the water, it shattered into thousand shards of glass, handle and all!!! It's not like the water was that hot! I was washing it, getting ready to mix a pie in it. My husband and I retrieved all the glass pieces out of the sink to save to take back to Wal-Mart with my receipt! If this is representative of the quality of Anchor Hocking, ALL of your products should be removed from the market!!!

Huge mistake. Out of about 36 jars only 4 of them sealed. What a loss in food, time and a whole lot of money. Very disappointing. Anchor Hocking should be ashamed of themselves for manufacturing such a inferior product. It did not require stitches but it was a bad cut just the same. I am a heart patient and therefore, bleed heavily when injured. Months later I attempted to use the dish again. In washing the drying the bowl, my thumb rubbed the rim or lip at the top of the bowl. I was shocked by the pain and blood which suddenly erupted. With close inspection we were able to see a rough edge which appeared to have chipped off the lip edge. The bowl is now at the dump with all the other trash. If this is an ongoing issue why hasn't the product been recalled. I'm glad it did it in my oven and when I took it out. I haven't done anything different. I was stunned beyond belief what had happened. In my 36 years of cooking had I ever experienced this happening. After telling my daughter-in-law she googled & found others also reporting the same. Thankfully I nor my range was injured/damaged but others have not been so lucky and is a REAL concern. I couldn’t find an official website for Anchor Hocking to complain to them. These great looking glass jars come with the metal lid and rubber seal, which should allow contents to remain sealed airtight. At close to $15 per jar they are pricey but airtight and glass jars are key, as plastic leaves horrible plastic smell and possible damaging petroleum chemicals in the contents, also plastic isn't airtight for extended use. The lids on every jar purchased, 15 total to date have either failed or eventually did fail. Several of the jars at retail stores had failed seals sitting on the shelves making this product useless for me or anyone looking for airtight storage. Beware if you try to purchase these jars, as they aren't airtight from the factory, or will fail in short order if purchased. The lids are the problem, and I'm trying to work with Anchor Hocking Company to get replacement lids. I'll report my success or fail as they respond.

It all started on a brisk November afternoon, I was headed home and decided to stop at the local grocery store to get some turkey breasts to marinate for later in the week. I decided on free range, hormone free, organic turkey breast which cost a pretty penny. I decided to splurge with the thought that I work hard for the money, so hard for the money so I better treat myself right. I brought home the beautiful specimens and carefully laid them in a Ziploc bag for a nice relaxing bath in Worcestershire sauce and seasonings. The time came for me to cook them. I decided on my brand new Anchor Hocking Baking Dish that was a gift from my aunt. It was the perfect size and I wanted to give those babies the perfect bake. I brought out the 'big guns' which turned out to be more of a grenade. I placed them in the dish and sat them in the oven at a toasty 350 degrees.

I then retired to my bed to watch the premier of Real Housewives of Atlanta while they cooked. NeNe rejoined the cast this season and I thought to myself, could this night get any better? Dinner in the oven and my favorite show on. I then hear a sound that I hadn’t heard since my days living in the ghettos of Columbus. 'BOOM', 'POW', 'CRACK-A-LACK', 'DING DING'. I quickly ‘hit the deck’ fearing for my life. After a few moments pass I gathered the courage to lightly tread downstairs to investigate. To my disappointment, I noticed a liquid heavily flowing from my oven door and I feared the worst. I slowly opened the oven door to find that I had placed my perfectly marinated turkey breast inside of a ticking time bomb made by Anchor Hocking. The glass ripped through that turkey breast like a shrapnel filled grenade.

I thought to myself, how could such a reputable company such as Anchor Hocking allow such a defective product to be sold? I decided to investigate things myself while I gathered the strength to clean up the disaster that was my oven. I found many complaints almost identical to mine with the only difference being the meal. One customer had even lost homemade macaroni and cheese to your faulty, Satan-blessed products. I simply can’t bare to continue with this review. Needless to say, I WOULD NOT recommend this Pyrex wannabe's products to even my worst enemy.

Since these were products I was hoping to sell, I wasn't taking any chances and had to remove and replace the lids to re-can 19 of the 28 jars that I had originally used the anchor lids with. I never ever put them in the dishwasher or the microwave as I have a microwave cover. But after about two weeks they all started breaking at the edges and were useless to keep the air out of food. We purchased this set of Rio glasses for the holidays in November of 2016. The first glass to break was one of the tall ones. My grown son picked it up and due to condensation it slipped right through his hand and was broken. Others have broken by having them tap against a table and slipping out of our hands. The final straw and reason for this review is while washing one by hand and very carefully the glass slipped, dropped a few inches, glass flew up and cut me above the wrist. I received a two inch cut, seven stitches, and a nick in one vein. I called customer service and was told, "If you can't send us the glass we can't help you."

My husband left work to come and bring me to the hospital. Thankfully he works five minutes from home. As I was waiting to be stitched up I started wondering if I locked the door. My husband went home and checked the door and while there cleaned up the blood and glass. I found two pieces of glass he missed. Customer service acted like I was the first complaint they had received about their product and told me they would not file any report. "That is fine", I told them. We continued to talk about how thin, slippery, and cheaply they were made. I told them about defects in the glasses that are still in my cabinet and guess what... she decided she would make a file.

I sent them pictures and have had no further contact. Had the cut happened an inch or two lower this would have been much worse. Unless you want your own horror story to write about I would NOT buy these glasses and certainly not as a gift. Zero stars from me but at least 1 is required.

Yesterday I was cooking 3 chicken breasts in the oven in a 9 X 13 Anchorware glass dish. The only thing in the dish besides the chicken was some butter (maybe one tablespoon at the most). After 35 minutes I opened the oven door, and attempted to remove the dish from the oven. When I grabbed the handles with pot holders, the baking dish exploded, send glass into the oven, the kitchen and my face. How I didn't get cut was a miracle. Due to the butter being in the dish, the glass stuck to the oven door, the floor and anything else it touched. It took me a complete day to clean my kitchen and oven so it could be used again. I was absolutely amazed at the number of such incidents occurring with Anchor Hocking Cookware. I have not called them yet, but I don't think I would want a replacement dish anyway. Two hours later while I was in another room, I heard the sound of glass shattering and walked into the kitchen to find one of the bowls completely shattered and glass shards scattered all around the kitchen. The container had never been used, wasn't mishandled, hadn't changed temperatures abruptly.

This was scary enough that I very carefully and quickly reboxed all the items from this set and plan to return them to Walmart. I will also call Anchor Hocking to report the incident, although from all the reviews it appears that my report won't be the first one they receive. I used no fats or water or anything inside the oven, which could contribute to a rapid temperature change causing an explosion. I sat the dish on top of the oven to butter the rolls on top and to cool. My 11-year-old daughter helped me. We walked toward the refrigerator to put the butter away (minutes only) and heard a cracking noise and then a pop. The dish exploded and sent very hot, sharp shards flying feet from the oven, where a one-inch shard pierced my foot about 1/2 an inch deep, creating a wound that bled profusely when I yanked out the glass.

My daughter was traumatized from seeing me bleeding this way. If she or I would have been closer it may have pierced an eye. This is beyond dangerous. Don't use this product ever. Not worth it!! This happened to me once before with the same type of product inside my oven and I thought it was a fluke. I should have done my research then. This morning, I came downstairs and began emptying the dishwasher. When I opened the cabinet to put away some dishes, I was amazed to find our Anchor 2 Cup measuring pitcher lying in pieces INSIDE THE CLOSED CABINET. During the night, this piece of glassware spontaneously exploded AT ROOM TEMPERATURE with enough force to throw glass shards 2 feet away inside the cabinet. I find this totally inexplicable since there was no temperature differential involved, no movement and no compression factor since the pitcher was sitting isolated on top of a padded shelf liner. I've included pictures of what I saw when I opened the cabinet door for reference.

This Anchor Hocking pitcher hadn't been used or moved for days because we happened to be using our Pyrex brand pitcher for cooking. Examination of the shards shows holistic cracking throughout the base. While I understand that any glassware can break under certain circumstances such as sudden temperature differentials, this is the first time I've ever seen glassware explode at room temperature.

My research on Consumer Reports indicates that Anchor Hocking and Corning now both manufacture their "bakeware" for the USA market using the less expensive "Soda-Lime" glass rather than the more expensive "Borosilicate" glass used in the past and still used in Europe. Corning uses tempered soda-lime glass for it's Pyrex bakeware line, I have no information regarding Anchor-Hocking but the implication is that it is not tempered. We will not buy any more glassware from this manufacturer and I solicit their response. For more information, Google "anchor hocking glassware exploding".

HOLY COW!! On Saturday, September 19, 2015, my husband purchased a 2 qt. Anchor Hocking glass casserole dish at our local Publix store. When he got home with the groceries, I wiped out the dish with a damp cloth and prepared chicken tetrazzini for company that evening. The dish did not have any scratches or nicks since it was new, and I did not use knives or utensils in the dish. The dish was not subjected to extreme temperature changes and I only used it on "bake" in the oven. (In other words, I followed all the requirements on the AH label.) I took the dish from the counter at room temperature and placed it in my pre-heated oven at 375 degrees. It was to bake for 25 minutes. I left the kitchen to clean up and sometime in the 25-minute interval, the new AH dish exploded, spraying pieces of glass and dinner throughout the oven.

Obviously, my dinner party was ruined. I spent more than an hour cleaning up the mess after we returned from treating our guests to dinner at a local restaurant. I contacted Anchor Hocking the next day by email, enclosing close-up pictures of the oven and glass. They responded with the need to see the actual glass shards, which I did not have since I had put them in the trash and the trash had been picked up early that morning. They are sending me another dish, which I will not use for cooking. We had purchased another Anchor Hocking casserole dish at the same time (3 qt.) and I returned that to the store today. When I looked closely at it, I could see small bubbles in the glass near the corner. These dishes are dangerous and Anchor Hocking should do a complete recall. Something is clearly wrong with their manufacturing process or their materials to be causing this many explosions.

Glass shards and hot chicken casserole burned and cut my daughter's hands as she was still holding the casserole dish while placing it on the counter top. Glass shot all over the kitchen floor, inside the oven, down into the oven drawer and even up onto the countertops. It ruined dinner and took over 2 hours to clean up all of the big pieces and little shards. Fortunately my family, pets and I were not hurt, but needless to say, my other Anchor Hocking glass pans are going into the garbage and I won't be buying them again. I had three pieces in a Pyrex clear glass baking dish and had to keep my daughters separate due to her not liking barbecue sauce so I placed her chicken breast in the smallest of the anchor clear glass baking dish. After about 25 min I added just about 1/2 a cup of water to the dish and it literally shattered like an explosion. I had glass all over my oven. Scared me so badly. I not only had this small Anchor baking dish that clearly reads conventional oven proof on the bottom, but I also bought two of my adult children sets for Christmas this past year. I am letting them know to get rid of them that they are dangerous to bake in. Luckily none of the glass cut me or punctured my skin due to my quick reaction in closing my oven door very quickly. As my cat was eating her night-time feed, I thought she had tipped her bowl over, and did not pay attention as I was tired from shoveling snow (I'm in Canada). Next morning I totally forgot about the sound I had heard the previous night, until I opened the armoire where I keep my pots and pans and baking ware, and all my glass bowls and pitchers and casserole dishes. I could not believe my eyes. The top shelf was completely covered in chunks and slivers of glass. I had to make sure the cat did not come into the kitchen in case the glass fell out on the floor. I shut the cabinet doors as I had to leave for work; and I had to face this mess that night when I came home.

After I took several photos of the broken glass, I found one large piece with a bar code from the bottom of whatever exploded. As I have so many glass bowls and casseroles, I'm still not sure what piece exploded, but the label on the biggest piece said "Anchor Hocking Company Item 92075." I had to remove every item from the armoire and wash everything to ensure no slivers of broken glass remained in pots or pans or bakeware, or in my slow cooker and everything else I store together. I hate to think what may have happened had this exploding item not been contained in the cupboard.

This is a tall, glass-front cabinet with four shelves. On the third shelf, I had two identical Anchor Hocking round casseroles stacked together (but not nested), the same way they have been for a year. The top one exploded and sprayed glass throughout the shelves and even into a wooden salad bowl next to it. The bottom was cracked, the handles shattered, the rim broken off. The glass lid was fine and the casserole and lid below were fine.

The last time these were used was on Thanksgiving day. No extreme temperature change. Nothing hit it. In fact, I am not sure I was even in the cabinet yesterday. Any ideas? It has me puzzled and concerned. Anchor Hocking has offered to send me a replacement. I guess they are not particularly concerned about consumer safety. It sounded like a bomb and scared me. It freaked out our young autistic son. It took hours to console him. I have had the pan for seven years and I loved it but I am afraid to use any of their products again. It was an awful experience and took hours to clean up. And our dinner was ruined. I thought one of the racks was not in the right position, but that is highly not possible. When I looked in the oven, there were all of the apples, the sugar and other components everywhere. Plus, I might add that glass was everywhere. It took my husband and I about 2 1/2 hours to clean up this horrible mess, plus the glass went under the fixed oven part that contains the burner and such.

We have to find out if the gas connection has the glass and such in it where we cannot possibly reach. Otherwise, we will have to take the oven out of the kitchen to have it completely taken apart. So the gas does not build up in there, and who knows what? What kind of product do you sell that this happens? I had used this 8x8 pan once before. It was brand new. Please get back to me as to why this would happen. I am trying to 'live green" by purchasing bowls with lids, but I am back to using Saran wrap to act as a cover for the bowl.

It would have been proper public relations to at least get back to me. I would like replacements for their defective bowls--lids that do not crack. It seems that the Anchor people are aware of the problem as they have a website that makes it easier for the consumer to 'purchase' just the lids for all their bowls. It is poor customer relations to sell a faulty product and expect us to put more money out to their company when it is clearly their fault. I do not want a lawyer to contact me. We tried to salvage the meal that was left but glass was actually inside the chicken thighs, in the butter tub, in the potatoes all over the floor. I chewed on a piece of glass that was infused in the chicken, I thought it was clear but it wasn't. The dishes were room temperature at the time. I sprayed both dishes with cooking spray and then put in a layer of fish from the refrigerator and topped the fish with spices and lemon juice. I then put the dishes on the middle rack of the oven, which read 325 degrees at the time. The dishes were side by side, not touching each other and not touching the sides, back, or door of the oven.

At 9 minutes, I opened the oven a small amount to look at the fish. The lemon juice around the fish had just started boiling in the bottom of the dishes. I closed the door gently. 2 or 3 seconds after, I closed the door of the oven (enough time to cross the kitchen to the microwave stand). I heard a loud bang from the oven. When I looked in, one of the dishes had exploded violently, spraying the top, sides, back, bottom, and door of the oven with pulverized glass and fish. Then recently, on Monday of September 26, 2011, I had baked some cheesy potatoes in the oven, in a 8x8 square Anchor dish. The oven was 350 degrees. I had cooked it for about less than an hour and all of a sudden I heard a loud boom in the oven. I opened the oven, and there was a huge mess. Glass debris was found everywhere, and it ruined my supper. I am unemployed with money, and I want to know, if I can get a refund for it. I do have a receipt for the one fifteen pieces bake ware set, which was back in December 19, 2009. The other anchor bake ware set was a Christmas gift last year, December 25, 2010. I want to know what could be done about this.

I had my empty pan in my oven when I realized that I had turned the oven on to preheat and it was in there. I opened the oven to take the pan out and sat it on top of my stove when it blew up all over the kitchen and into the living room. It was a good thing that I had turned to walk to the other side of the kitchen.

Why on earth are the pans being sold? There have been so many complaints about them blowing up and injuring people.

I was cooking a birthday cake for my six year old. I was absolutely shocked when my Anchor Hocking glass baking dish exploded as soon as I removed it from the oven. Shards of glass went everywhere, ruining the cake and cupcakes that were on the counter and causing a huge and dangerous mess in my sink, my counters, and on the floors. My poor dogs heard me scream and came running into the kitchen. I'm waiting to see if their feet will bleed. I will never use Anchor Hocking again, and in fact, I am throwing out all of my Anchor Hocking and replacing them with Metal Bakeware. Be aware!

I was broiling fish in the oven for supper. I heard a crack from the oven and when I opened the door, I found the Anchor Hocking pan had split into three pieces. I've never heard of this happening to anyone until I went online and found this site.

My experience was a lot better than some of the other people. Anybody gotten any satisfaction from the Anchor Hocking Corporation for these problems?

I was baking vegetables in a blue glass Anchor Hocking lasagna style baking dish. The oven was at 450 degrees and the food had been cooking for about 20 minutes when we heard a loud boom from the oven and found that the baking dish had shattered completely while inside the oven. Some pieces were very sharp and the entire dish blew into a million pieces and tiny fragments.

Consumers need to be aware that their glass baking pans do explode. I was using an 8 x 8 pan to bake brownies. I took it out of the oven to check and see if the brownies were done by placing it on my stovetop, which had not been used. I determined by using a toothpick that the brownies needed a few more minutes to cook and immediately placed them back into the oven. Approximately 3 minutes later, the pan had exploded inside the oven. The glass was shattered in a thousand sharp pieces and my oven was a mess. Thankfully neither I, nor any family members were injured. I will never use an Anchor glass pan again, it was terrifying! Someone is going to be seriously injured or blinded from these pans.

Me, Amanda **, and Matthew ** were cooking chicken pot pies in a glass anchor cooking ware. We were cooking them for my son, nieces and nephews. When we pulled out the glass cooking pan and put it on our safe stove top, the anchor cooking pan exploded when we put it down. The glass flew everywhere. I got some glass in my foot but thank God, no one was seriously injured and the children were in the living room. These glass pans from anchor cookware are not safe.

I was baking pork chops in my oven. My husband opened the door to check on the chops when the baking pan exploded in his face. Glass flew through out my kitchen, into his face, stomach, leg and a shard of glass scratched his eye.

I bought a measuring cup and have only used it 7 or 8 times. I was sitting on the couch eating mashed potatoes out of it (just because I wanted to) and I noticed my jeans had turned bright red. I thought I was bleeding.

As it turned out, the measuring red dye on the outside was bleeding off all over everything. It ruined my sofa, my jeans and favorite shirt.
