We needed to replace a large noisy microwave oven with a medium-size unit that was quieter but still had the many features of our old expensive one. After researching the many brands, we picked a Panasonic model that matched the features we wanted. This model has proven easy to use and does every cook, defrost and reheating tasks we asked it to do!

It opens and closes effortlessly, unlike many we have owned. The touch pad is very responsive and easy to engage. The only drawback is the TouchPad not back-lighted. It does not look large, but it does have a large capacity, and ample cooking options. It is every bit as good as the three hundred dollar unit it replaced. We paid $120 for it.

Bought the micro 2.5 years ago. Worked for well for about 1.6 years, then door wouldn’t always close. Then past 3 months it would stay running after time ran out and you would open door, so quick unplug shut it off. We got more cautious to watch it and then seemed ok. But then out of blue would not shut off after time ran out, open door and again unplug it. Only paid $110 on sale but I’ve bought $100 micros not on sale that lasted 5 years. We pulled the old one out of basement that our son had for 2 years after our 5 years, and then he bought a new one. Thing is I bought a new Panasonic Blu-ray theatre system and minimal use and it died after 2.5 years. I’m engineering and I keep an eye on proper use of any and all our products. Will not be buying any Panasonic products anymore. I’d rather pay double and get 4+ years than really only 1.5 years.

I have a Panasonic inverter microwave, and swear by its great Features. So easy to clean, as it is all stainless steel. It is 4yrs old, and still looks like new. Never had any problems with it. I think that cleaning it regularly is the key to its longevity. I am in the UK, so we use 240 volts. I write this review as I am extremely pleased with my purchase, and highly recommend this product. I hope this is of some help to folk who may wish to purchase this product.

Updated on 06/22/2020: The Invertor Technology works well until it doesn’t. The problem is that the magnetron and the inverter are notoriously prone to early failure, more so in Panasonics, as internet and shopping site reviews everywhere illustrate. H98 error code less than 2 years old. Two weeks attempt to speak or contact anyone from Panasonic. 800 number menus with automated responses or 20-minute wait times. CHAT. wasn’t working. Called nearest authorized repair center 130 miles. “Can’t help you”. Was told to call 800 number in Romania who will get in touch with Texas who will get in touch with Salem Supply Depot, only repair center who will contact you.
Tried CHAT again. Offshore “Steve” read from scripts, wasn’t very articulate and simply offered platitudes and apologies. Kept going around in circles. Asked for contact with someone in the States. His response: “Is there anything else I can help you with.” Wrote back, “Yes, you can answer the questions I just posed.” I ended telling “Steve,” It’s been the most fruitless conversation I can ever recall having.
Shipping round-trip 260 miles is expensive for 41 lbs. I have a perfectly competent and reliable appliance repair center in my city. Panasonic wouldn’t entertain the idea of sending a magnetron so I could have it done locally. But it’s unconscionable that Panasonic execs refuse, even for the sake of good will, to accommodate customers with products that are designed for failure right after the service warranty expires. And Panasonic offers a 5-year magnetron warranty but it is impossible to use. Not only is shipping to a distant repair center expensive but the procedure is convoluted, contacts are unintelligent, and logistics are unreasonably burdensome. And Panasonic knows this. They can warranty the magnetron for 50 years. It wouldn’t matter to them. I purchased a Panasonic radio that I’ve had for over 55 years and it works perfectly.
Panasonic was known as the most reliable name in electronic products. It’s shameful that the CEO’s of Panasonic’s appliance division have allowed quality and service to devolve into mediocrity. Any microwave should last longer than two years. We will all be better off with the longevity of a traditional transformer or coil and a magnetron at full power than an inverter magnetron, and with any other maker than Panasonic. Shame on Panasonic CEOs for allowing what once was the reigning electronic company, known so well as epitomizing quality and customer service, to descend to this, such a lowly level.

Brand new Panasonic microwave NN-ST66KW and the keypad works most of the time. But when it decides not to work doesn't matter how hard you push, where you push or what finger you use it just will not accept an entry. Then it will start working again by some sort of "magic". Even more frustrating is trying to contact Panasonic to find out if there is a solution. No phone numbers listed anywhere and sending message on their website results in a computer generated email response listing many things you could do but having no connection to your problem at all. And this new unit was a replacement for one that suddenly went up in smoke 2 months after the one year warranty expired on the last one. I will not be buying Panasonic again.

We bought this Panasonic Model No. NN-SA651S at Costco in June 2018. After about 1 1/2 years we noticed paint chipping off on the inside. The paint chips were likely dropping into the food since you could see a 6 inch x 6 inch section on the top where the paint was bubbling. We're taking it back to Costco for a refund but they're still selling a similar looking Panasonic, although it has a different model number. Hopefully they've fixed this issue. I don't see why they have to paint the inside of the oven in the first place.

2015 model (type S333) has some issues. The control touch pad failed and was replaced under warranty. The exterior plastic trim has melted because of proximity to stove top (4-6 inches away from electric burners). The interior oven paint is wearing off, chipping and discoloring, and not from over-cleaning. Otherwise it works well in reheating and in inverter turbo defrost mode. 1480 W capacity, 1200 W max output.

I bought the Panasonic Model No. NN-SA651S from Costco on 2 September 2018 and in less than one year the interior back seam and top venting fan area formed rust stains. This oven was used less than once a day. No other microwave oven that I've owned ever formed "rust" on interior seams. The oven seemed to lose power over time, don't know if the rust problem was the cause. I took the oven back to Costco for a refund. Costco still sells the oven. I would not recommend the NN-SA651S to any buyer.

We found that the button for the door sticks. It should last longer than three years before something like that happens. And, that we own two different Panasonic Microwaves. One ends and it shows "Enjoy your meal" after it is done. We enjoy seeing that as it reminds us that something is in the microwave. The other does not and just goes back to the time. We love the power settings for the Panasonic as it is a constant low if different power settings are used. Other microwaves do not do that and that is why we keep buying Panasonic Microwaves.

I've had Panasonic microwaves in houses that I rented, as well as the house I own. These microwaves are workhorses, and they never seem to fail. Besides being attractive, they are a way to prepare family dinners quickly. Mine is 1,000 watts plus. The clock on the front, helps me to adjust all of my kitchen clocks, as well as the clocks in other rooms. The microwave feature are also great, but does a vegetarian need a probe to cook. It is one of the few companies that has a microwave that is tall enough on the inside to accommodate the majority of the reheating storage containers. Today's microwaves are way too short in height for the storage containers that are made. Recently the microwave has done for me as it has for many others, and the voltage fluctuates. We immediately unplugged the microwave as it is a huge danger and do not want it to burn our home down.
I contacted Panasonic was asked a lot of questions, sent pictures, called twice to simply be told, "Oh well you owned it over a year so you can pay to have it fixed!" Why would anyone in their right mind keep something that could kill them!!! I told the rep I would share my experience on every social media site available and that's when I was told, "Well since you want to take it to social media we can send you a prepaid label." I said, "And what will that get me!" She said, "We will see if it's a service issue but you still have to pay us to fix it." I said, "If I am going to pay to have this fixed I will simply research a company that makes quality merchandise, UNLIKE PANASONIC, and find one that cares about their customers as well." She said, "Well it's not fair to our customers that buy extended warranties if we help you." I said, "Well it's not fair to me if your product kills my family!" I ended the call as she simply didn't care.
I will not be buying anything Panasonic again, and I can assure you we are a VERY tech savvy home and have a lot of electronics. I bought a Panasonic Microwave model NN-DS596B model from John Lewis in August 2017 with a two-year warranty. Expensive £305! I have discovered that it does not cook the food evenly. Rang John Lewis and was asked to contact Panasonic who gave me a case ID number. Their only nominated service centre DK AVS took two weeks to collect it and told me it takes about 4 days. Since then I have contacted DK AVS 6 times (each call takes around 35 to 45 minutes for a response) with promise to come back each time by the end of the day but never came back to me. Out of exasperation, I contacted Panasonic customer services and spoke to 4 staff again with the same response will get back to me by end of day after contacting DK AVS.
By this time and eight weeks without the microwave, I raised a complaint to Panasonic on their web page and as per experiences of other people contact was not received after 2 days. At this stage, I sent them John Lewis receipt for a refund. Finally, received response from a manager at Panasonic but have told them that I have waited long enough and have bought a new microwave (not Panasonic). A response by email at last from the manager at Panasonic that DK AVS have found nothing wrong with the microwave and nothing more could be done. Interestingly, as the microwave is still with DK AVS.
It is now 3 months since my first contact with John Lewis, I called and spoke to customer services who have reinvestigated and escalated the case, I quote” I want to let you know that I have escalated the case with your situation to our Head Office so the Service Centre will send the unit back to you as soon as possible.” This beggar’s belief that I have been without a microwave for 3 months and now they have found nothing wrong (i.e. uneven cooking) and will return the microwave as soon as possible! Maybe in 12 month’s time! I think small court is justified with this to get a refund and post this on review sites. DON’T BUY PANASONIC AND DON’T USE DK AVS FOR ANY SERVICING. I HAVE BOUGHT A MIELE AND EXTREMELY HAPPY WITH IT!

We purchased a Panasonic inverter microwave/convection oven (NN-CD989S) with trim from Abt Electronics & Appliances in 2012. Just this week, flames/sparks were arcing in our microwave during use, a description I've seen from other online chat forums regarding this product. In all of my years owning microwaves, I have never had one stop functioning after 6 years, particularly one that this is considered a "top of the line". Adding 'insult to injury' - I just learned from our appliance store, Abt Electronics & Appliances (Glenview, IL) - that we cannot even simply replace this microwave with a similarly sized one, because the trim sizes are now completely different. If Panasonic wishes to sell microwaves that fail after 6 years of gentle use, they can at least TRY to encourage customer loyalty by keeping the sizes of their microwaves the same over a 6 year period. Presently, I see no reason why I should purchase another Panasonic microwave.

I bought this supposedly "top of the line" Panasonic microwave oven "used" ("almost new" from someone who immediately couldn't tolerate it after he had just purchased it from the store and sold he it really cheap to me). It is the poorly engineered oven you could imagine. The biggest single issue is that the door will not shut fully and securely and thus allow engagement to start cooking (it almost never closes on the first attempt, maybe 1 in 10 times of slamming it so hard the neighbors think we are renovating our home). Additionally, the interface panel is poorly laid out and unresponsive, not back-lit and sometimes does the wrong command when you push the buttons.
As a final straw, the rotating tray jumps off its track about every other day (causing obvious messes and aggravation). It was terrible to start with and has gotten worse every day until I am now ready to toss it to the curb after less than 6 months of tolerating this piece of junk. When it comes to PANASONIC Microwaves (or anything else they would put their name on now as far as I am concerned)... Forget them and move on to a real manufacturer. Either you don't know what kind of garbage they make or you wouldn't buy it.

Purchased from large big box retailer. Had it for about 2 years when, while warming up some leftovers I heard a strange noise. I turned around from the kitchen sink to see a 4 inch flame inside the oven on the right side. There is some kind of plate on the side wall which looks like metal. Flame was coming from there and started to catch the plastic on fire above it. (And yes for the record the container was microwave safe.) I shut it off, unplugged it and threw it outside. After doing some review checks, I found two similar cases on Amazon! BEWARE of this model. I have yet to reach out to Panasonic but I fully intend to. Absolutely love the Inverter series of Panasonic microwaves. We have always used two in this house for more than a dozen years, and have had the same broken door spring issue repeatedly on every one. Our favorite model is NN-SN942 series, which includes NN-SN968. Our last 2 pair have been NN-SN942B, but we quit buying anything Panasonic. No matter how many times we attempt to write or have made calls, the issue is never resolved.
I am holding the Operating Instructions for our last two in my hand. Each was bought for $20 off the regular $169 price at Target on November 29, 1914. We replaced each broken door spring by ordering from Panasonic. We have replaced the springs twice. One broke in January and one broke this June. So now two beautiful units are the dump because we envision no end to the Panasonic problem. Spending $398 and repairing 4 times for 2 units in just over 3 years is ridiculous, as well as unnecessarily hard on the environment. When one spring breaks, I have to run downstairs to use my son's unit and he runs up here when his spring quits. We order two and start over. But over the years, the springs have progressively lasted a shorter time. Our units look like new.
When functioning, they are wonderful. But no one at Panasonic cares to hear about the defect. Last week, our units went to the dump. The glass inserts are going with our instruction booklets with purchase receipts taped inside to Goodwill, in hopes that someone needs one. Very many Panasonic control panels are the same, with the same instructions. The spring is our only issue.

The smoke was coming out from behind the keypad and lower portion of the microwave on the same side was too hot to touch. I immediately emailed Panasonic to report the fault and asked for safety data information in regard to the smoke as the smell, its effect on me and the inability to remove the smell suggested it may be hazardous. I received a phone call from Panasonic in regard to the email. They asked what I was heating, what container I was using etc apparently overlooking the details of my email. The customer service officer then asked me to return it to a Panasonic customer service centre.
I responded that they could send a courier to which they declined. I received an email from them the same day requesting purchasing information and for me to return the appliance to them. I noted that if they assessed it and determined it wasn't a fault I would have to pay for the assessment. My mother passed away almost a year ago. In clearing her home, we kept her microwave. A Panasonic inverter model NN-S443WF. Fast forward to this morning at about 5 am... Something (God) woke me about 4:40 am and would not let me go back to sleep. So I got up. My hubby is naturally an early riser, so he, too was awake. I began mulling about the kitchen, about to start making breakfast for my hubby & 3 children (soon to be 4). I smelled this awful burning plastic smell... Started investigating. Saw an outlet that had burn/smoke marks on it, and felt the plug in it (my mom's microwave). It was scalding! I quickly unplugged it, but watched to make sure. White smoke began coming from the plug holes.
I yelled for my husband, who ran to the breaker box and started flipping switches until we found the right one. Even then, I stood watch over the outlet with the fire extinguisher. Thank goodness for quick thinking, and God not letting me sleep! I don't know if my hubby would've caught it in time, as he was conducting business on the computer. We actually lost our home 4 years ago to an electrical fire, after the house was hit by lightning in the middle of the night... We got ourselves, our then 4 yr old daughter, and not even 2 month old son out safely, but we lost everything. This really has me on edge today. Please, be careful with this model. I know it's an older one, but it shouldn't cause a fire as the first symptom of something wrong with it!

I bought a Panasonic Microwave NNSB646S to replace a 15 year old Sharp that we loved until it failed. The Panasonic meets most of our requirements. It is a "No Frills", easy to use model with some exceptions. The interior light does not come on when the door is opened. It does come on while in use. Why does it not come on when the door is opened & needed? The control panel is not backlit making it impossible to read the button when programming it. How much did Panasonic save in leaving off this feature?
Unlike our earlier Sharp microwave, the Panasonic burns the food on the outer circumference while barely heating the interior product being heated. The button on the lower right to open the door is recessed and hard to push. The door spring is too strong or the catches are not designed correctly making it slam hard & make a loud noise when the door is pushed closed. The noise invariably wakes up the grand-baby in the next room. We can live with these inadequacies, but it could have been made much better.

In June 2016 I had to replace my GE over-the-counter microwave. The only microwave I could find which was the right size and colour was the Panasonic Inverter Microwave NN-SE284B for $600. It was very hard to install because of the power cable. The cable exits at the front and there is no groove for the cable when you slide the microwave over the bracket. The cable should come out near the back from a recession in the frame. Then there was a speck of dirt inside the window of the door. The door is supposed to open by slightly pushing it. That lasted only a day. Now I have to push the button at the bottom corner.
Today we had to change the time because of the fall time change. Pushing the hourglass turns on the microwave and the display shows hot. The same thing happens for all buttons and the slider. I powered it off and on and the problem persists. So, the controls are not working anymore. The fans, for all the noise they make, do not ventilate any air. I have only used the microwave to reheat food and not very often. We also got a Panasonic TV (not a led). It darkens sporadically and recovers. Since we got it for cashing in points and essentially for free we are living with it. There is no Panasonic product in my future anymore.

Panasonic Inverter Microwave Model # NN-SN778 - This model keeps tripping the breaker of a 20 amp circuit and the fuse blew in the microwave. I replaced the fuse and did an amp draw on it and its drawing 16.7 amps. The specs in the user manual say it draws 12.7 at the most. I'm a long time electrician with 25 years experience and I study the National Electrical Code constantly and that said this unit should be on a 25 amp circuit with a 30 amp receptacle but the cord that came with it is only good for 10 amps. This is a fire hazard! The receptacles that come with your homes at best are rated at 20 amps except for the dryer, range, heating and air units and some others like welding receptacles.
I did some research online to see if maybe there was a defective part that's causing this to run at a much higher amperage then the specs say and I found that the company is misleading us. There are multiple reports about microwaves drawing much more amperage than the spec on your owner's manual say they draw. What I'm worried about is that the wiring inside the unit isn't even 18 gauge which is only good for 10 amps and this unit draws 16.7! Even a 20 amp circuit isn't enough but the wiring inside it will burn up before your breaker trips. This is a fire hazard and we need to address this issue!

In late April of 2016, I was starting to experience problems with my eight year old microwave. My previous three microwaves lasted for thirty five years (none of them a Panasonic). In doing my due diligence, I found that the inverter technology was the way to go, and that Panasonic manufactured a "state of the art" product. I purchased the Panasonic inverter model # nn-sn933b for slightly less than $200.00. For the first three or so months, the product worked as described, but soon after, the food was not heating evenly on the high (fixed) power setting. Instant oatmeal was pouring over the sides of the bowl. I compensated for the heating problem by using lower power settings, and cooking/Warming food for longer periods of time.
In using the "popcorn" setting for full size bags of popcorn, I needed to turn off the microwave with fifteen seconds left on the timer, otherwise the bag, and its contents would burn. One time, the bag actually caught fire. Yesterday (7/11/17), I opened the microwave door to take out my lunch, and upon closing the door, the microwave lost all power. When I called the phone number on the owner's manual, I listened to a recording which stated that if my product was out of warranty, I would have to pay $9.95 to speak to a representative about my problem. These people put out a garbage product, and then have the audacity to charge a fee to discuss their problematic trash. Anyone buying a Panasonic product after reading my comments, along with those of other consumers who were "taken" by this company, will indeed deserve exactly what they get.

Used to be microwaves lasted over 10 years, as others have mentioned. We bought a Panasonic NN-H624BF in January 2007. It stopped working in November 2009, with interior sparking preceding. I purchased a Panasonic NN-SN667B in November 2009 - it stopped working in April 2012 (subsequently I bought a fuse, which repaired it, and I have it for back-up.). In the meantime, we purchased another, larger Panasonic microwave in April 2012 (I don't have the model number anymore, as we put it in the dump) - the door became a huge problem by early 2015. I found online repair methods and fixed it, which lasted about a month before it again became necessary to slam it repeatedly in order to get it to close.
Finally it would not close at all, so I gave up on it, but I could not find another microwave brand with the inverter technology, so I tried again with a Panasonic NN-SN686S purchased in 10/16. I thought if I went with a smaller one, it would not have the same door problem. And I thought, with all the complaints about the door mechanisms, the new ones would have the problem tackled. Not so - it's just a different problem, as this door will shut but now after only 6 months, the mechanism to open the microwave has become very hard to push, and it is only a matter of time before it becomes inoperable. I will resurrect the 2009 model with the repaired fuse when it becomes necessary. When that goes, I will have to do without the inverter technology, as I give up on Panasonic forever.

Of course it doesn't have any programmable capabilities that are computerized like today, but that still doesn't limit what it can do, it just means a person has to actually walk to it and touch it, just like before there were remotes for TVs. It does have a few pre-programming features though that you can set so it will go from one function to another without you having to get up and reset it in between cooking temperatures. I don't know what I will do when it finally stops working. Panasonic microwave has self-timing or manual timing, a minute button which is used very often. The self-cook is easy to set and the food is perfect every time. Also, the cost was reasonable for this fine product. The microwave fits nicely on the countertop. It has a turntable which makes turning the container continually not necessary. It holds larger size containers which makes it easy to cook a goodly quantity of food. I do recommend Panasonic.

It's the best I ever had at 1100 Watts. It does a cup of tea in 20 seconds and also great for steaming veggies. Evenly cooks carrots and beets in 14 minutes when in a deep bowl and covered by water. I can easily reheat casserole or in a covered dish, steam a salmon steak that is frozen with lemon juice and herbs. Versatility is great when taking on two jobs and three generations of family besides my own peer group. It's also the go to way to make a damp hot pack with a washcloth so long as one wraps it in a dry towel and temps the heat so no one gets burned.
I feel like good products last and it's nice to have a good product that I can do whatever I need to do that does not have hot spots or any difficult area to clean. Yes it still fits on counter and it saves on my electric bill by speed of cooking and it's nice finish wipes down easily and has the best balanced turntable that cheap small models don't have. I appreciate quality workmanship.

I purchased this microwave NNSA651S in March of this year. In November the clock stops working. Then there begins to be water retained in the cavity. This wasn't normal condensation. After several hours on the phone the team at Panasonic tell me, that even though we are under warranty, it's our fault. Yea, a 1/2 a cup of water sitting in the cavity is our fault. This wasn't normal condensation. It didn't start happening until recently. We had since bought another Panasonic model but am returning it today. Do not buy Panasonic, they do not stand behind their warranty. They refused to fix the clock, since the inside was damaged. Bad bad bad all the way around.

First, I want to say it hasn't stopped working but the features suck. My 2 biggest complaints are it is so hard to close the door as the latching device is just hard to push the door closed having to about slam it closed. The other complaint is the LED or whatever Panasonic used for the clock/timer is so dim in a lit room. My KitchenAid stove timer shows very well compared to the Panasonic microwaves. It is hard to believe we are having these problems as we just replaced the old one with the same. The old model is almost exactly the same model years later. It appears the only upgrade was to make it cheaply. In doing so I will not buy another Panasonic Microwave, EVER.

There are no settings for certain foods such as, baked potato, frozen vegetables, popcorn, etc. Also, you cannot use the microwave and the timer at the same time! The only time the light inside comes on is only during cooking. My final thoughts are, I would not waste my money on this brand of microwave oven again, the money you may save is not worth it. If you cannot use the timer and microwave at the same time you end up spending more time making the meal than if you just use a stovetop. Also, if your old microwave had settings for things like baked potato, frozen vegetables, etc, you have to use trial and error to figure out how long to cook things. Not very convenient to me!

Bought Panasonic Inverter Microwave from Best Buy about two years ago after my Sharp Microwave of 18 years died. The Panasonic worked well for about a year, however, it developed a small hitch in the door when closing. Eventually the spring keeping the plastic door latch prongs moving up and down became unhooked and when I tried to hook the spring the two prong latch hook broke. Taking the door apart, I could not believe how cheap and flimsy the 2 prong latch hook was made. I ordered a new part for just over $2. It said genuine Panasonic OEM part.
When part came and I installed it a tiny hook inside the door frame where one end of the spring attaches broke. I had to fabricate a new anchor with a small screw and a small nylon tube to sit in the door frame in order to hook onto the spring. This worked except the OEM part was off by about a 32nd of an inch. Sometimes when you closed the door, it did not engage the latch mechanism completely. The microwave would not turn on because it thought the door was ajar. By pushing down on the top of the microwave door it engaged the locking latch mechanism and allowed the microwave to operate. This continued to work for a while until turning the microwave on kept shorting and clipping the circuit breaker in my electrical box.
I thought of replacing the microwave and read reviews of the Panasonic as well as many other brands of microwaves and got frustrated that all microwaves today were made to only last a few years and not the 18 years I got out of my last microwave. My family has relearned and learned to heat food up the old fashion way, in a frying pan or pan on the cook top. I have found that heating liquids in a small stainless steel pan, heats slower but more uniform. We miss the convenience of a microwave, but I do not want to replace one every year or two from now on. We put a man on the moon almost 50 years ago, but today no appliance last as long as they did 20-40 years ago. Thank you Jack Welch, former CEO for GE, for coming up with the idea of planned obsolescence, now used when manufacturing all appliances, furnaces, hot water heaters etc!

I purchased this microwave from Best Buy on April 30, 2016. Two days ago while microwaving macaroni and cheese, gray smoke came from both sides of the microwave, nearly caught my house on fire. The macaroni and cheese had only been on for less than a minute and turned my microwave yellow. I immediately unplugged it, looked at the outlet looked at the back of the microwave and waited for my husband to get home. We read plugged it in the next day and the smoke and smell immediately started again. I called customer service to find out if I need to bring it to a repair center or what could be done. I was told this matter is very serious and my complaint would be sent over to a manager. I was then emailed by a lead consumer affairs employee who asked for pictures and more information.
I was then called the next day by the lead consumer affairs associate who was beyond rude and unprofessional. She immediately asked for me to re-explain what happened, then followed it up by saying that it was my fault, that the engineer who reviews pictures stated that I clearly overcooked the microwave, that I need to clean my microwave in, that my warranty was voided. I explained that the yellow discoloration came from the incident. I was at a loss for words with Panasonic's customer service. I asked "Is this how you back up your products?" She told me that I should read the instructions and never walk away from the microwave. She then proceeded to say she has been with the company a very long time. I then explained I could care less. She stated "Nothing could be done to buy a new microwave and read the instructions next time."
Meanwhile every microwave I have had, has been Panasonic. My previous Panasonic microwave lasted over seven years. I will Never buy a Panasonic product again. After I had this horrible experience, I then reviewed Panasonic's customer reviews. It appears to me based on other consumer reports that Panasonic does not back up their products and that they frequently state "Go back to the manual." I believe this is Panasonic's way of getting out of backing up their products.

Purchased this microwave 1 year ago after my SHARP microwave of 11 years quit working. This Panasonic unit is only exactly one year old... Apparently the units have cheap wiring and are only designed to last one year so you have to pay money to their online support or purchase a new one. With no warning it just quit working after having for 1 year. My household has only 2 adults over age 50 and the microwave is not overused at all.
I attempted calling Panasonic their product and refuse to because it is 1 year old and will charge me for advise on the phone or send me to a service center who will charge me. We ended up opening the unit to look for fuse issue. It turned out having melted wires which obviously blew the fuse. All of the information that I now read online about this Microwave model catching on fire and other internal electrical issues are apparently true due to the cheap wiring in the units. The units with the "inverter" seem to be the ones with faulty cheap wiring that makes the machine go bad after a year. We are lucky the fuse blew in the unit, as the unit turns out it would have been a fire hazard.
Panasonic unlike Sharp will not offer any assistance at all in repairing the unit unless you pay upfront. They will say to you over and over that your unit is out of warranty (even though by only a few days). This Panasonic cost twice the price of the SHARP until that I had for over 12 years. Panasonic loves to fill the landfills with faulty microwaves or find a way to get additional money out of you minutes after the warranty expires. In my opinion the worst manufacturer of consumer electronics. I will never purchase another Panasonic brand product again. I will never recommend the Panasonic brand to anyone. I will warn people against purchasing any electronic products from Panasonic.

The Panasonic NN-SD767W has managed to completely destroy my previous belief in the quality and design of Panasonic products. There is no way the engineering principles previously applied by company engineers and designers were applied to this family of product. Nothing about it functions as intended or is smartly designed. The carousel wheel support and drive hub interface do not fit well together and are knocked out of place so easily. My wife refuses to load anything more cumbersome than a coffee cup. It is utterly frustrating to try to reheat even a medium chicken or a casserole.
The minimum interval time input changes to 5sec @ 10sec, 10sec @ 1min, 15sec @ 5min, 30sec @ 10min. This makes it impossible to dial in sensitive items. The fix is so simple and costs virtually nothing, making it seem the designers are real idiots! All that should have been done is to apply the same interval changes when reducing the time. In this way, for example, one could dial up to 10min and 30sec and dial back 10sec to arrive at a final input of 10min and 20sec. Duhhh!
The big claim that the "Inverter Technology" provides for even heating is totally untrue. It is so far from true that it falls under the tree of false claims or outright lies. Try softening a stick of butter. It WILL bore a 3/8" hole thru it in one spot and leave the rest cold. It performs equally poorly on anything but a cup of coffee. In short, this product is limited to performing only a fraction of what it was designed for and that poorly and dangerously. When I buy a new stereo turntable or audiophile component, a cordless drill or saw, it won't be from my old GO TO brand. It won't be a Panasonic.

Our last microwave was a Kenmore, almost 30 years old, and still works (except for occasionally programming itself! I could build a replacement controller but don't have the time.) The Panasonic has numerous advantages, the higher power was great for casseroles where long thaw times were needed, cut that down to minutes. I'm guessing the main problem is harmonics and operating frequency. The space between door parts was quite small and yet the gap arced despite what looked like correct grounding and spacing, etc.

There was nothing out of the ordinary in the oven to make it do that. It tripped a fuse a couple of times in the past week but I thought it was a dodgy socket. I have spoke with a few people and they seem to have had similar experiences with their previous Panasonic microwaves. I spoke with Panasonic and they were no help as it’s now out of warranty (typical). But I wouldn't touch another Panasonic again!!!

Avoid purchasing this device! Within 6 months we started having issues with the lower door latch failing to properly engage. As time progressed, harder slamming to engage, till no more success. Warranty is a joke. No help there. Removed outer cover. Poorly engineered bracket. Flimsy. Poorly designed latch. Design is conducive to lower watch wearing down\out. However, if it was the goal of Panasonic to hope enough suckers would just roll over and buy another one... Then awesome work Panasonic!
We currently have the outer cover off, unplug it, use a wooden 3\4" x 10" OAL dowel, with a inner chamfer on one end (to fit over lower latch mounting screw), put inner pressure onto bracket... to keep flimsy bracket from bending out during latching attempts. Replug it in and use... Yes, thanks Panasonic! Gonna try to use solid core 14g electrical wire to offer support to flimsy bracket. Currently designing an inner bracket to mount on the lower base. Attach with screws from outer under side, allow on site adjustment to fine tune the amount support for the flimsy bracket. Money is money.

Unit about 5 years old stopped working today. Checked plug and hot prong is partially melted fused to plug. Genius prestige inverter model. I have not tried contacting Panasonic since I looked online and saw numerous complaints about unresponsiveness. Already angry enough and for the cost of new one will not waste more time on frustration as well. Just figured I would pass it on, will check consumer reports next time even though this seems to be something that happens over time. Have not thrown it out yet. Outlet is correctly polarized and grounded .20 amp copper wire circuit never tripped breaker, no charring inside outlet.

The Microwave does all the cooking etc. very well. BUT - don't try to use it as a 1. Kitchen Timer or 2. Use the timer if something is being heated/cooked in the microwave. We have had several Microwaves over the years and all have been able to do both these functions. The timer emits "4 beeps" when the time is up; other microwaves, continue to beep until shut off. Guess you better stay in the kitchen to hear the beep. This 4 beep function has remained unchanged since the beginning of time. If you are cooking with the microwave, you better get a dedicated timer. The 2 functions are mutually exclusive. I called Panasonic on this. I was told that is the way it is! Clearly, Panasonic pays no attention to detail or consumer wishes.

They take more than thousand for issuing minor things... As well as they delay to resolve our issues. It's 2nd time that I am going to pay much of cost.

Wish I had googled "Panasonic microwave door" before buying. Without fail the door latch will break just after the 1 yr warranty expires and Panasonic customer service and tech support are of no assistance. Their microwaves are built of cheap materials. (Hence the 1 yr warranty!) If you want a microwave that will last longer than one year do not buy Panasonic.

First Microwave was a Sharp. Lasted 20 years until the transformer gave out. The next two Sharp SHAR2STM devices melted the plastic turntable spindle before I tried a Panasonic NNCT562M on the strenth of a friend having one for over a year. Bought in November failed in July. Simply closed the door after cooking. Click; door shut; all lights out; never to work again! Ok, if we live in a disposable world at least 2 years before it breaks seems reasonable... Right??

I bought the large Panasonic microwave (July 2013) and I loved it. After about a year and a half, it wouldn't start unless you slammed the door. Like the other reviews, it would just click and return to the clock. I bought it at Sam's and purchased the extended warranty. They had me take to an appliance repair store and they fixed it making modifications to the latch and switch. That gave it another 2 months of life - now it's worse than ever. I went by the repair store this morning to tell them it would not start again. He said there is probably nothing else they could do because the inside of the cabinet is made so cheap and the parts flex and won't stay in place to make contact to start the microwave. He said the best place for it is in the trash. That sure made me feel good.

I sent the review below regarding our Panasonic Microwave (model NNSN661S) issue and want to reply that I also submitted a report to Panasonic on their website right afterward.
Our one year warranty was over in September 2014. A nice claims person, Megan, called me and I sent her photos of the inside fire damage. She sent a shipping label to have it returned for their review. We sent it back and I was surprised when they sent us a new replacement unit but a different model #NN-SA661S.
We had replaced the damaged unit with a new LG model that I am liking as it has rounded corners in back (makes for easy cleaning). I am happy with their claims service.

I opened a pack of Orville Redenbacher microwave popcorn by taking off the cellophane sleeve and put it in my Panasonic microwave oven. I followed instructions on bag that said not to use the popcorn setting on the microwave. I placed the bag proper side up in the microwave and set oven for 2 minutes and hit start. I was standing right by the oven so I could listen to the bag as kernels would start popping and to listen for popping to stop to stop microwave so it wouldn't burn. I pushed the start button and within just a few seconds the oven started making a real funny noise we've never heard it make before; a flash like a flame looked like it was in oven so I turned oven off and unplugged it and carefully opened oven door.
The inside of oven smells burnt and there is a black streak on right side of oven wall. The popcorn bag looks like it did before I put it in the oven. There is no way for us to know if there is a problem with the popcorn bag that caused the oven to flame or if the oven is just faulty. We purchased the oven in September of 2013. In doing research online this evening, I have read about other people having fire in their microwaves when popping microwave type popcorn.

Panasonic Microwave Model #NN-H965WFX - Latch broke off... when closed door... apparently a common problem from these models from what I have read. This seems to be a common problem with these type microwaves (From what I read).

We bought a NN-SN661S Panasonic about 3 years ago as it rated well in Consumer Reports and after a couple of years of very light use mainly just heating up chai, coffee, soup, etc, it just quit working. No digital readout at all and of course it was out of warranty and you get no help from Panasonic. I reluctantly agreed to getting another one and in less than 6 months it did the same thing. I called Panasonic and (of course you don't get to speak to a real person) was told where to send it for repair. I had to hassle with finding a suitable box, packing it up and paying nearly $40 to ship it to south TX. It came back a few days later - fixed.
There's nothing at all in the manual about a possible reset for this problem and as it came back so quickly, I can only assume that it's very common and an easy fix. There was nothing in the packaging saying how (or if) the problem can be resolved by the owner. Stupid Chinese piece of crap. Don't buy one!

The latch mechanism gets loose so often that it no longer works, period. I tightened the screws as the YouTube video shows and made sure not to strip the plastic where the metal screw goes. My daughter spent $159 at Walmart for it as a Christmas gift which I greatly appreciated. But I feel this is a substandard microwave. The part that receives the screw should be metal. I'm replacing it but not with a Panasonic product. Don't throw your money away on anything with plastic latches. You won't find anything worthwhile at Walmart as far as microwaves go.

I would have thought with one latch still operable it would have still worked but it does not. It will no longer cut on at all. I tried calling the store where I purchased it but they said I have to send it back to Panasonic for repairs. Chinese built Panasonic Countertop Microwave Model NN-SN661S failed in less than one year (Feb to Dec 2014). Former Samsung microwave failed after 20 years. I have used a number of Panasonic products over the years and have been very satisfied with them. I went back to FRYs where I bought my failed microwave (which only has used parts- Magnetron available on the Internet). Fry's said I should have bought the extended warranty. What! The microwave is less than a year old.
I called Panasonic Customer Service and they directed me to a Las Vegas Repair Shop which no longer services Panasonic microwave ovens. So Panasonic then directs me to Arizona or Texas for repair! China now has all the business and could care less about a quality reputation unlike the US, Japan, and Korea. We are willing to pay more for quality products: Apple iPads for example.
I can relate many stories regarding premature failures of HDTVs, Computers, Pool Pump motors, Electronic circuit boards, Automotive ignitions, Refrigerators, Wash machines, etc. etc. These failures are due to premature failures of formerly reliable parts (Capacitors for example) that now are made off shore by manufacturers who have not pride in their quality or workmanship.

I purchased a combination microwave on 9th November 2014 and it subsequently caught fire, it electrically arched to the door, and the door seal and trim melted. This welded itself to the inside frame of the microwave. It filled my utility room with black electrical smoke and also the kitchen. Items in the utility had to be wiped clean and washing re-washed. I took it to Currys PC World Rugby store No 2391 14th January 2015 that sent it for repair at D&J Henry in Coventry.
Today 2 weeks later I have tried today to find out what is happening. The store has no information. They say the repairer D&J Henry will contact Panasonic who will advise what is happening. They believe it would be repaired and are awaiting parts, which I am totally UNHAPPY with as the microwave caught fire, filled my utility room with smoke. I had to re-wash all clothing items in my utility and it made the whole of the downstairs smell of electrical burning. I have spent most of the afternoon calling Currys D&J Henry the repairer, and also Panasonic who now advise it is with the technical team. Well the microwave isn't. That is still somewhere in Coventry. The service is appalling. The item is 2 months old and electrically caught fire... Why does it take so long? Why is everyone giving me different versions of what Panasonic will do?
I do not want it repaired. Will it make my food smell of smoke? Will the frame and the door ever close properly? If it had been 3 years old I could understand but it is 2 MONTHS OLD and still under Panasonic warranty! Although I have learnt that IF I had taken out the Curry's PC World extra warranty they would be looking into it quicker. BUT IT IS STILL UNDER MANUFACTURER WARRANTY?
