We found out about CBR from our attending physician that provided the birth of our daughter. We thought that it was the best thing to do based on the clinical evidence. It’s very beneficial to people. It’s been a good experience with them and a positive future investment.

We looked into Cord Blood Registry around the time of having our first child and chose them because of the service they offer, ease of use, and the price. I was a little skeptical about how it was all going to work, but everything came together exactly the way they said it would. The doctor knew how to collect the sample, and when it was time for it to be picked up and taken away, we just called the number and everything was good.
Most of my communication with Cord Blood Registry has been through email. I only hear from them when it’s time to renew each year. But the agents have been very helpful and knowledgeable every time I’ve called in. They’ve also offered options to expand the services we’re currently using, which I appreciated, even though it wasn’t something we were particularly interested in at that time.

I wanted to ensure I could protect my daughter cause she only got one parent, and so I signed up with Cord Blood Registry. The representative was good and shared to me why doing this is beneficial because of the expanding technology. Very satisfied with the experience.

I got interested with cord blood registry because my cousin who is an OB-GYN explained the benefits to me. If my daughter becomes ill, her cord blood will help her with recovery or healing. So I felt like I should do it.
The hospital staff requested that they study the kit to make sure they knew exactly what steps to follow when it was time. They don’t see it that often so they had to familiarize themselves with it.
Overall, my experience with CBR has been great. The only thing that I don’t like is when I log on to my account, it won’t show the balance that is due. But other than that, I would tell my friends that it’s something that may be beneficial in the future. I’d rather have it and not need it than need it and realize that I wish we’ve done that.

My doctor was super passionate about Cord Blood Registry and what appealed to me most was having it available in case of any future illness in the family. My daughter is 15 now and I just hope we never have to use it. I have reached out to them maybe once a year at most, sometimes once every other year. They do keep up and check in, and then there’s just the annual membership to pay. But it’s a minimal cost for what is essentially a medical insurance policy.

My experience has been simple and informative. When I reached out to Robert, he was very informative and made it really easy. It still is, and it's been 16 years since I banked cord blood. You get emails from Cord Blood Registry at least monthly telling you about new developments, new research, information, opportunities to give referrals. For the minimal cost, it is so important to bank it because you never know what health issues or genetic issues your child is gonna have as they grow and develop. I wish I would have done it with my first child, but I didn't find out about it till my second. But it's really gonna benefit my kids because I did find out that one child has genetic birth defects, so it will help her one day.
I've given references to people I work with that are pregnant and I've shared with my family the importance of banking it and how inexpensive it is. The price has gone up over the years, but for what I pay, to know that you have them privately stored for your own child is a game-changer.

My wife had suggested banking our baby's cord blood. We googled a couple of different places and went with Cord Blood Registry. It was a pretty easy and straightforward process in the beginning. We gave the boxes to the doctor and they took it from there. Once a year, we'll get an email or if we have a question we reach out to them. They're professionals and well-informed. They give us information we need. My only suggestion is every year, as technology changes, they could shoot us an email and let us know what's available with stem cells, like what are they being used for and the different procedures that might benefit from using the cord blood.

We were reading up more about stem cells and we were also hearing about how it can help with certain cancers and illnesses. We were in a different financial place where we could afford cord blood banking a little bit more than we could with the first two children. We also found out that we were eligible to use it for any of our kids as long as they matched up until they were 18, then it would became the child's. That made us feel good too. A friend had banked with Cord Blood Registry and told us about them. We signed up as well and now have two different storages with Cord Blood Registry.
During the first time that we signed up, we talked to a guy and he was super knowledgeable. He made it make more sense to me and what we could possibly use it for. He was able to tell me that we would be able to use it for other kids if they were matched. He also told me about the different plans that we could do, and we ended up going with the one that was most affordable for us at the time. During the second time, we just called and added our child, and it was really easy.
We've had to contact them a couple times including the time when I hadn't been on the automatic payment plan yet, and I had forgotten about it. Each time we've reached out, the experience has been super easy. Cord Blood Registry gives you a little bit of reassurance and hope that if one of your kids do end up getting sick in the future, you have a little bit something to rely on on top of generalized medication. It makes you feel a little bit more at ease stepping into the role as a parent. If Cord Blood Registry is something that one could afford to do, they should 100% do it.

I wanted to preserve anything from the baby, so if the baby gets sick with a rare disease, it can be fixed with the umbilical cord. I also had difficulty getting pregnant, and I didn't want my children to have to go through the same thing. I didn't plan to give birth yet but when I got to the hospital I was having contractions. I called CBR an hour before I gave birth, and the person was very nice on the phone. They were very helpful as well. But now I don't even talk to them. They just collect my money and this year, the price went up. I'm tired of paying that much and I wanna pay one time. I asked them if I could pay for last time but they said I can only pay for 18 years. The price for the service could go lower. I've recommend a few of my friends to go with them but they didn't want to pay.

We used CBR's service for peace of mind, and the rep who helped us getting signed up was wonderful. However, they could reach out a little bit more. We have an 18-year-old, a 16-year-old, and an 11-year-old who all are registered with Cord Blood. Our credit card where our recurring payments were being billed had expired but no one reached out. I owed a huge lump sum because of that. CBR could follow up more carefully when stuff like that happens. But other than that, I'm pretty satisfied.

Storing our baby's cord blood and cord tissue is a great insurance policy for any potential future illness. CBR is one of the leaders in the space, and between them and the other one that I was looking at, they had the best financial plans and offerings. They were also very thoughtful and explained everything thoroughly. I'd recommend them.

Cord Blood Registry touted that their storage facility is located in an area that is less prone to natural disasters. I also liked the availability if you would need the specimen, not just for the children, but for the parents as well. The other options are communal - you give your specimen, but you're not guaranteed to get your own specimen back. With CBR, it's yours.
CBR also gives an option of paying in full where you won't make payments yearly. You just have to have quite a bit of cash on hand to be able to do that option. You also have the buyout option still to this day where if you came across a substantial amount of money, you could buy it out. But we do the yearly plan and we get a discount for multiple children. Communicating with CBR has also been easy. You can contact them quickly. They have promotions like if you refer people, you can get either a percentage off your yearly payment or you can get a year's banking for free. Anytime we've ever had a question regarding those types of things, they've been very responsive.

My brother recommended using Cord Blood Registry, that using them would be an advantage for the kids' health. If you have the cord blood and if anything happens in the future, like needing a bone marrow match for the family and for the baby, it can help. You will find the exact match.
Initially, my experience with Cord Blood Registry was great, but my issue was them not telling me the fees would hike every year, sometimes $25. That was going on for 2 or 3 years. It sneakily happened that I had to call back and tell them there was no notification sent to me prior saying they would have an increase of payment. Other than that, everything was great and smooth. The intention was good. It's been 12 or 13 years since I signed up and communicating with them has been easy. Every time I called, they were gracious enough to refund me back my money.

We encountered couples that talked about banking their baby's cord blood and they mentioned it and we did our own research. I looked companies up online, and when I called Cord Blood Registry, the rep sounded more appealing about what they were doing and the objective. We went with them and she initiated the setup. We got the kit and the instructions were clear. We knew to bring it upon delivery. Cord Blood Registry also knew who my OB-GYN was, which made it easy to mention it to the OB-GYN doctor and they knew exactly how to process everything. Once everything was done, the guys gave the company a call and within an hour, they picked up the kit. I was satisfied.

We, my husband and I, are in the medical field and a long time ago, we banked our baby's cord blood as insurance for something later on in life that they may need them for. They're friendly people and instead of a recording, the company has people answering the calls. We also receive emails from them.

CBR Cord Blood refuses to let us close our account unless we sign a “closure agreement” filled with unfair, one-sided terms. These include fabricated balances, demands to relinquish our rights over the stored samples, and clauses that replace the original disposition instructions from the sign-up contract; all while protecting CBR from any responsibility. If you attempt to modify any part of the agreement, they refuse to cancel the account. We’ve sent multiple formal cancellation requests, but instead of honoring them, CBR continues adding charges and escalating threats about sending the account to collections.

The doctor talked about Cord Blood Registry, but me and my husband also researched. I also had friends who have done it. Once we did the research, we wanted to move forward. The kit was mailed to my home and we took it to the hospital. My husband met with the person who picked up the kit and it was picked up in a timely manner. The amount for payment plan makes sense because of the upfront cost for the initial collection and the annual storage fee. I would go back to CBR if I needed to do it again in the future. I've actually recommended people to CBR.

I have been with Cord Blood for three months. I decided when I was gonna have my baby to do the cord blood and tissue saving. I know I have bad luck and health issues and I heard from people saying Cord Blood is doing studies on cord blood and tissues. I went to Axia and saw a pamphlet on them. So I just did it that way.
When you set up an account with them, they ship a kit to you. You then bring it to the hospital and tell your doctors and the doctors get the blood and tissue sample. Within 24 hours, you call them and they pick it up. It takes about two weeks for them to do their studies and they'll let you know if it's a good sample. The procedure is simple. It's better to have a safe option just in case and not need it than wishing you did it.
The price is good. I just wish they had payment options. They have a website when you have an account that shows your balance. I feel like they should have the option of doing payments on there. I could make my payments. It's just I felt 12,000 is a lot for one straightforward pay.

Save your money. Don’t sign an agreement with CBR. If you look at the 5-star reviews, they are from people who just stored their child’s stems cells. Sure the company is great to work with then; they want your business. 17-18yrs later, CBR comes calling for an annual storage fee. I emailed them in Oct 2024 that I did not wish to continue and to please close the account. No reply. Then in Aug 2025 I get a bill $150 due Nov 2024 and $160 due Nov 2025 (total $310). I emailed back with a copy of my Oct 2024 cancellation email. I was told I still had to pay the $150 charge but they would waive the Nov 2025 $160 charge. I paid the $150 to make them go away. But NO, got a call today that I have to fill in some paperwork with my (now) adult child AND settle my bill, otherwise it will go to Finance. I see Bill Collections in my future. Look at the BBB site. There are numerous people trying to get out of this CBR racket.
Also, think about it. IF they successfully keep your child’s stem cells for 30+ yrs, what are the odds you could actually afford to use them in the US? How much would CBR charge you for access? How much would your insurance charge (probably wouldn’t cover anyway), your doctors, hospitals, labs charge you? Hundreds of thousands of $$$. Unless you are a multi-millionaire with $ to burn, I don’t recommend signing up with CBR.

Once my sister and I delivered and we got the specimen collected, then we had to get to the airport with it, buy a plane ticket and fly it out. It was not an easy chore. When I sent it in, it was just a couple hundred dollars and then I had to do the plane ticket. My daughter looked into it and it's now priced to where you can't afford to do it anymore. I'm a labor and delivery nurse. Your representatives were on my floor regularly. And then because I'm in that type of field, they gave an incentive certificate to do cord blood and tissue, free banking for a year, no collections. Essentially just made it worthwhile on top of the potential research that is available for it.
My experience with the kit was very good and very easy. Actually, not anymore because I'm at a different facility now where we don't do that. I moved to a different state, and it's a religious hospital. Now I don't have experience the same way. Before, I was a labor and delivery nurse. I actually collected the kits. I packaged them. Very easy and very user-friendly..
I actually recommend it to friends, especially if I know that there's potential genetic inherent issues.
We get patients and their husbands that are so adamant about, “No. I need to set this up. And I need to call them immediately because they've told me that they need it immediately.” And so then I feel like they lose some of that initial golden-hour experience ‘cause they're so focused on packaging up this cord blood. This is something I know firsthand. You then call. And then the companies are like, “Oh, yeah. We'll get a courier to you within 12 hours.”
So, there's this push for the family to call immediately, do this immediately. And I feel like it takes away from their experience in that fresh new baby moment. And then essentially, they do what they're told. They call immediately. And they're told, “Okay. We'll get there in 12 to 24 hours.” The verbiage could be changed just a little bit so that family could focus on what's important in that initial hour.
From a medical standpoint, we know it's important. We're doing the packaging. We're making sure nothing is falling through the cracks. But it's nice if you don't have anxious dads and moms. And I get it. It's a lot of money and research. I absolutely get why it's a nerve-racking moment, but it's going to be okay. Just focus on the baby.
Banking cord blood gives peace of mind, potentially empowering for future unknowns if something bad were to happen.

I banked my baby's cord blood with Cord Blood Registry (CBR) 17 years ago. They were offering a free year, and given the potential future benefits, my partner and I thought it was worth a try. Initially, the decision felt like the right move, but my experience with the company over the years has been less than ideal.
Communication has been the biggest issue for me. I do not have a designated representative and there have been persistent problems gaining access to my account information online. It’s alarming, especially when I've had issues arise like being told I owe money but having not received any prior bills. Attempts to register or make payments through their online portal have been unsuccessful, often due to website malfunctions. I've authorized them several times to charge my credit card without success, and I'm left in the dark about the status of my baby's cord blood. This communication gap is not only frustrating but concerning since the core purpose is preserving an essential resource.
If I were to rate the communication, it would easily be a 2, due to the lack of response and support. I often find it impossible to reach anyone regarding where the cord blood is stored or how to access it if necessary. It leaves me uneasy, as I genuinely have no clear point of contact in case I do need the stored cord blood. In particular, I never received the reassurance that the cord blood, potentially current in their registry somewhere, is safe and accessible.
For friends or family inquiring about cord blood banking, my advice would be to ensure they choose a company with a reliable online presence and transparent customer service. It’s imperative to have access to the necessary resource at any critical time, and while I think CBR is a good service in terms of what could be offered to the world, unfortunately, they have left many questions unanswered for me.

They gave me about a month to figure out if I wanted to pay annually or for another 18 years. Well, I forgot about it (I have 4 kids to keep my attention) until two years passed and I received another email saying that they are going to send my account to collections if I don’t pay. There was no other communications with me between when I called about the impending bill and that email. I called to close my account and was informed that someone would call me back.
A few days later I received the call and was told that I would now be paying for two years and they transferred to billing. Up until now, customer service had been friendly, but the woman in billing was argumentative. Clearly she is only interested in collecting money, not customer service. She told me that I admitted that I changed my phone number (it was changed 14-15 years ago) since they 1st reached out about the bill.
She touted all the “documented” occurrence of emails sent, attempted calls, and the two conversations they had with me. Then she accused me of calling from a phone number that I didn’t even recognize (and wasn’t even the phone number I was calling from). When I tried to correct her she doubled and tripled down. After I lost my connection, she sent me an email with a bill that didn’t reflect the 1 year reduction that she had promised prior to becoming argumentative. This is an untrustworthy company that only cares about money.

After reading, I thought it might be a good idea in the event of medical breakthroughs or scientific discoveries. If my child were born with any issues or developed any later in life, perhaps there would be some help he could receive from the Cord Blood. You never know.
They've done a lot of research and have had breakthroughs with Cord Blood. I know they're doing research with ADHD and other cognitive developmental issues, which I think is awesome, given what appears to be an epidemic in our country. I even recommended it to a friend who has a child with ADHD. I know at one point, Cord Blood was working in conjunction with Duke University. I told them I thought it would be a great idea to do it with the second child because the children are young, and it seemed like a viable option to maybe follow through with some of the treatments in the future. It could help both children since it's mitochondrial in nature.

I did the cord banking more than 17 years ago in case any of my children were going to have future issues that possibly the cord blood could save them. The process and communication I got were both great, and signup was easy. All reps have been wonderful. They banked eight times more than they needed when they got the cord blood from my last baby. The only thing that I would change is that if you need it, you have to pull out all of it. And I do not think that they should have to pull out all of it. They should only have to pull out what one possibly would need. They could change that.

So, CBR sent the kit to me, and then we took it to the hospital. And I remember my OB-GYN taking all of it and knowing how to do it because she had it for her kids.
So, my experience with CBR has been easy. They’ve been helpful. I had to call them one time, and they were great. Their price is also fair. I would love to do the lifetime payment, but it was harder to do it upfront. That’s why I do it yearly, and it’s on autopay.

I didn’t have a bad experience with the representative. Though I don’t remember many details since it’s been so long. I already knew I was going to do it. I was already on board, so I didn’t need the sales pitch.

The first time that I got pregnant, I didn’t know about cord blood registry. Then the second time, I found out about it in one of those pregnancy blogs. I started thinking if I were to need it just in case, I would do it.
The process was very simple and the instructions were clear. At first, I didn’t know if I wanna spend that much. When you added it up, it does seem more than what people would afford, especially with all the costs of pregnancy. But once you divide it into 12 months, it seems doable. So I told my husband, if we were to need it down the road, it would be worth it.

The process was easy. They came to the hospital and everything went well. My other daughter died of leukemia, and I banked all of their blood not realizing you can't give your own child's blood back to them if they have leukemia because the risk of leukemia repeats itself. But I continued to store the blood anyways in case someone else could use it because we're on the leukemia registry. But even then, I don't think they could use it because of the history of leukemia. So, I honestly don't know what we can do with it. If anything, we might use it for diabetes.

That way, anyone who needs it has a better chance. The likelihood your baby will need their own stem cells is low, but it’s a lot higher if someone else matches. Really, everyone should be banking cord blood, because medically, it gets thrown away. But you could bank it publicly, where it’s stored in liquid nitrogen. The thing that stuck with me was that it was an investment. In the event that we would need it, God forbid we need it, it would be an investment for my kids health-wise if one of their siblings needed it. Just that alone sounded worth it for us to invest in their health and the security of their health should they come across something that they would need one of their brothers' cord blood for. I chose Corbd Registry because they store samples in an area with the least natural disasters, ensuring everything stays frozen securely. I first encountered the idea of banking stem cells at my doctor's office, not through promotion, but by stumbling upon a pamphlet. As a believer in medical science and stem cells, I thought it could potentially save my child's life one day. The idea of having an exact match for their own stem cells was comforting. I even considered potential matches within the family, including myself.
While conducting my research, I learned about universal stem cells, but felt more secure with exact matches until universal ones become widely proven and available. I opted for both tissue and blood samples, as I didn't want to risk being unprepared if both my children needed them. Also, given the possibility of family members being matches, the additional benefits were too significant to overlook.
I know some friends went with other companies because they were cheaper, but I prioritized the storage location and security. I wish people who don't choose to save stem cells would at least consider donating them. It's such a valuable resource.
The actual process of collecting the samples at the time wasn’t widely known. My doctor wasn't very familiar with the process when we first did it, but having support from friends made the collection during childbirth smoother. I believe the practice isn't promoted as much as it should be.
Despite not having had to use the stored stem cells yet, having them gives me peace of mind. I've paid for their lifetime storage, which is expensive, but I see it as a worthwhile investment in my children's future health. I rated my experience as a 5 and would highly recommend Corbd Registry to anyone considering stem cell banking.

We have three children who are grown now, but we collected, banked, and paid years for this service. We were so dumb and naive to do so. Looking back, Cord Blood capitalized on our fears as parents and exaggerated promises that treatments/cures would be available in most situations. The reality is, it just is not so, and this science has a long way yet to go to successfully treat many known genetic diseases. And keep in mind, you can't use your child's own cord blood for a genetic disease that child may inherit because cord blood contains the same genetic DNA that caused the disease.
Also, if and when you go to cancel, Cord Blood gives you two options, both options benefitting them: donate to Cord Blood for their research or donate to Cord Blood to help them calibrate their machines. In our professional opinion, this is a very lucrative, predatory business, and they are asking you to fund their research with very little return or promise for you or your children. However, I will say most phone operators of Cord Blood are pleasant people, but most of the time people are pleasant when they want your money.
We are sorry to hear that your experience has been anything but positive. Our goal is to provide information to help families make informed decisions about newborn stem cell preservation. While your baby is a 100% match to their stem cells, full siblings have a 75% chance of being at least a partial genetic match, and biological parents are always a partial match. Today, cord blood can be used to treat over 80 conditions through stem cell transplantation, and there are over 500 clinical trials using cord blood and cord tissue stem cells to investigate their potential to treat more conditions. Many of those trials are using the patient's own newborn stem cells, and the determination of whether a patient should be treated with their own cells vs. those from a related donor, such as a sibling, often depends on the diagnosis and is ultimately up to the treating physicians.

I have been using Cord Blood Registry for 17 years since my second son was born. The process is quite straightforward: we had our baby, arranged for the cord blood to be stored, and have been paying the storage fee ever since. It's reassuring, although sometimes I wonder about the actual status of the stored cord blood as it feels like storing something without physical proof. I appreciate their medical updates and advancements, which I subscribe to, although I skip the marketing communications. Most people have no idea on the benefits of saving cord blood. We did it to possibly save one of our kids' lives, if either one of them got a disease.
We have two sons and we weren't able to do it with our first one. When I was pregnant with my first son 20 years ago, I picked up a pamphlet in my OB's office, then I saw it again in my pediatrician's. However, my kid came six weeks early, so I couldn't plan for that, but the second kid, we were very much planned for. The initial annual fee was around $120, and it has risen to $150, which is expected with everything else in life that has increased. We couldn't afford the lifetime storage option when we were younger, but the annual fee works for us. They send me an email every year and I pay it.
The general experience with their customer service has been smooth, although I haven't had extensive interactions with them. On the one occasion I needed support due to a website access issue related to new forms the company wanted filled out, their response was swift and effective.
Overall, I rate my experience with Cord Blood Registry as exceptional. I believe we were ahead of the curve with this cutting-edge technology. There was no incentive for this review; however, they do offer a referral discount if you sign up new customers.

I first learned about Cord Blood Registry through my work as a family physician, having delivered over 100 babies. My husband and I decided to bank our baby's cord blood because we wanted to be as prepared as possible for any pediatric cancer-type of events. The stem cells could be used to help with after-radiation types of things.
The overall communication with Cord Blood Registry was good. Even though it was 18 years ago, I recall having all my questions answered satisfactorily. My physician was well-informed about the procedure, which was crucial, as she was responsible for its execution. The kit was sent to my physician and the process went smoothly for both of my children. I remember it more vividly with the first, but the second time was equally efficient.
The procedure itself was straightforward, despite neither my physician nor I having extensive experience with it at the time. While it is an expensive service—many of my patients couldn't afford it—my husband and I believed it was worth it for the peace of mind it provided. Growing up and well before I became a physician, I knew a child that survived a childhood cancer. It was extremely difficult for the family. Knowing that we had done everything possible for our children reinforced our decision.
If I were to rate Cord Blood Registry, I would give them 5 stars. The service was satisfactory, and I would recommend it to friends. It's a bit like an insurance policy; you're paying for something you hope you'll never need, but it's reassuring to know it's there. We chose not to continue storing my eldest's cord blood after she turned 18, partly due to a change in our financial situation and also because the initial urgency had diminished.
Despite opting out of continued storage for my eldest's cord blood, I am still very pleased we did it. I’d be heartbroken if either one of my children faced a health crisis and we hadn’t had the cord blood stored. There was a chance that we could have potentially needed to use it ‘cause both my children have autoimmune diagnoses, but thankfully, their conditions are well under control with just some regular interventions, not relying on stem cells. More people should know about this option. It would be an excellent resource if it were more economically accessible. I'd done it a couple of times for my patients, but a lot of my patients didn't have the ability to do it.

Despite this, Cord Blood Registry encouraged us to continue payments for nine years. Only upon questioning did we learn that the small amount collected for our daughter held little value. I asked if they would recommend continuing to pay for storing my daughter's cord blood and they said they wouldn't. But if I didn't ask those questions, they were gonna keep on charging me. That was disappointing.
If asked for a recommendation, I would advise others to inquire about the volume of cord blood collected. Overall, I would rate our experience with Cord Blood Registry as neutral. Their customer service and the value of the product also felt very average, without being particularly outstanding or unsatisfactory.

I first heard about Cord Blood Registry when I was pregnant with my son 25 years ago. It was a new concept to us back then. The process was easy—they sent a kit, and we brought it to the hospital during my C-section. The doctors took care of the collection, and we received confirmation that it went through. It's like an insurance policy; we pay a fee annually, and thankfully, it's there if we ever need it. It was reassuring, especially since my son did get very sick with a kidney issue later on.
I truly believe it's a wise choice for anyone, though my friend opted out to buy a front door instead. It's just a matter of personal priority. The customer service has been excellent, and I find the website very user-friendly. I'm 56 and computer savvy, but I think even those less experienced with computers would find it easy to navigate. Overall, I'm very satisfied and would highly recommend it to others.

I decided to bank my baby's newborn stem cells and their cord blood and tissue with Cord Blood Registry (CBR) because I believe in the potential advancements in medical science over the next 10 to 30 years. My hope is that these stored materials could prove valuable as my children grow older. I first learned about CBR, possibly online, when I had my first child in 2009, though I don't recall anyone recommending it to me at the time. The process was straightforward; we took the kit with us to the hospital. Everything went smoothly during pickup, although I can't remember whether CBR informed us via email or phone once they received it. My overall experience with CBR has been positive, and I would definitely recommend their services to friends and family.
I'm a bit concerned about the annual storage fees, which I forgot about last year. I'm currently trying to sort out a payment plan with them, as I'll soon have three new payments due. My attempts to resolve this by phone haven't been entirely successful, as I've spoken to multiple representatives who promised to get back to me, but I'm confident it will be sorted soon. Despite this minor issue, everything else has been excellent.

I recently had the opportunity to bank my new baby's stem cells and cord blood with Cord Blood Registry (CBR), and I must say the experience was quite pleasant. Everyone I interacted with was incredibly nice. It was a totally new process for me and they made me feel at ease and everything was gonna be taken care of. If I had any questions, they explained everything thoroughly. I first learned about CBR through my doctor's office, and I chose them mainly because they offered the best pricing as far as savings from packages.
A particularly endearing highlight of my experience with CBR was when they sent my daughter a pop-up book called "Where's Baby's Belly Button" on her first birthday. It was a really sweet gesture that added a personal touch to their services, and my daughter loves absolutely the book. She still reads it.
I rated my experience with CBR a 5 out of 5 and have even recommended them to my cousin who is currently pregnant. The customer service was top-notch. While the pricing was affordable, I rated it a 4 out of 5. As for their website, it was user-friendly, which earned another 5 out of 5 from me.
Overall, I would highly recommend Cord Blood Registry to anyone considering banking their child's cord blood and stem cells.

Going with CBR is a hedge against potential illness in the future. As scientific advancement goes in healthcare over time, there is higher probability of alleviating even lesser issues with stem cell and cord blood. After a lot of research, it looked like CBR was the market leader, and if we're going to save this stuff for 20 years or in perpetuity, it's better to go with the market leader. We committed in the 2nd trimester and the kit arrived in the 3rd trimester. We were required to take it to the hospital, advise them that we were saving the cord blood, let them know the process, and give them the documentation. Within a few hours CBR was called, a courier arrived to pick up the package.
The only issue I had was it's highly focused on the mother but she was induced. I had to take a lot of that stuff. The phone calls were going to her cell phone and there was a very disjointed communication because they were directed to her. Ideally, it should be directed to both of us. When the courier called back, it went to her cell phone which was in her purse and we missed the courier. The courier had to go to the hospital liaison then they contacted me, the spouse. That process needs to be adjusted to reality that in that event, there likely needs to be at least a secondary individual for contact.

It's been good with Cord Blood Registry. I decided to do it to have it all paid until my son's 18. Before you give birth, they give you a little meeting where they explain to you what's gonna happen. The day the baby is born, the doctor collects it that same day. When my son turned 18, we talked to a couple of different people who have been very nice. When I did it the first time, it was expensive, but part of it was I paid it all together. But I'm happy with the rate I have now because though it's not cheap, I'm still holding a better rate than the new parents. My rate is grandfathered. They also offer something where if a friend signs up, you get a discount for the year.

Since then, I've recommended Cord Blood. My father-in-law was diagnosed with leukemia and we told the doctor about Cord Blood. So he contacted them but unfortunately, he wasn't a match. But nonetheless, we had it.
Customer service over the years have been very helpful. Because in 23 years, our credit card on file is gonna expire. Whenever I've called up, it's been very easy. Cord Blood Registry had been advertised at my OB-GYN's office. When I looked them up, they had good reviews and they felt very legitimate. Everything in their process was very clear and their rates were also clear to understand. No hidden fees. They were concise about what they were going to be doing with the cord blood, and how they were gonna store it.
The reps were very knowledgeable. They always had a great attitude. I was assigned a single representative, which was wonderful. As I had additional children, I could always go back to that representative, and get all the information I needed very quickly and clearly. We've also been using them for 13 years and we have not felt that the prices have gone outside of what we would consider fair.
The way that it worked was that we received a box and all the pieces that the doctor needed were in the box. All we had to do was when I packed my bag to the hospital, and bring the box with me, and it wasn't too big. It was very easy to put in, like a backpack. Once we got there, we made sure the doctors and nurses knew it was there, and put it on the table. I didn't see how the doctor collected, but he knew what to do with the the stuff in there. Once it was sealed and the doctor filled out his portion of the form, we called the courier service, and the number was written right there on the pad. The courier service came within a few hours and picked it up.

I'm a nurse and the physicians I was working with recommended Cord Blood Registry. I did it for my grandkids. Cord Blood did offer that if you referred somebody to them, you'd get a nominal discount, but it was nothing unethical. Initially, what Cord Blood does is they tell you what to expect thoroughly because it's pretty much a time thing. The baby comes, and they would have the practitioner draw the stem cells. In my case, I also did tissue saving. So, they did a little tissue specimen.
I was instructed to call the courier right at the next step and then they picked it up from the hospital and off they went. They confirmed when they got it that it was intact and viable and that there was nothing that had ruined it. As a grandparent, I turned things over to the parents but I'm still involved because I pay the premiums and I talk to Cord Blood and I get an email periodically. The cost is reasonable, and they did do a very good job in explaining the collection steps.

We knew that we wanted to bank our cord blood because we have a history of childhood cancer. I went with Cord Blood Registry. I just went, "Oh, they're pretty reputable. Let's just do it." I have a lot of kids. I tried for several kids to bank. We could not afford it on my first. My second was born in the car and by the time that we got medical help, her cord blood wasn't any cord anymore. It had been given back to her. So, she had all her own blood. We couldn't do a quick clamp on the cord. My third was accidentally born in the bathtub. The doctor freaked out and said that it wasn't sterile, so he wouldn't bank the blood for us, which was all wrong information. We just kept trying. The fourth time was the charm. We banked her blood, her cord blood and tissue.
Cord Blood Registry was really easy to work with. We called the number. They sent out their courier person. It was a little bit alarming that someone in jeans and a hoodie showed up at my hospital room and it was like, "Okay. I'll take this." I was like, "Okay. We've been trying for six years to get this." So, I was hesitant to send it with them a little bit. It wasn't explained to me that the courier isn't gonna have on a work shirt that says CBR. I thought that they would have some sort of identifying information that would make them look reputable. They did not. If I had any feedback, I would say for the company to provide their couriers with some sort of CBR t-shirt, so that it's clear that they're a CBR employee.
I had a new baby that I'm really protective of. Other mothers, especially if they have high anxiety, are super protective of their newborns. I'm in birth work now as a doula. If someone walks into their hospital room while they have a newborn, it's like in that first few hours after birth, it's a big deal. I also don't remember getting anything from that person. He just disappeared into the night with my blood. But we did get a text message the next morning, and it said that it had landed safely at its destination. It had just arrived at the facility. So, we did get updates about the whereabouts of our products which is good because we sent it with the person in the hoodie.
I recommend Cord Blood Registry all the time. The quality of service is outstanding. I have never been anything but really pleased with customer service I get from them. The cost feels almost prohibitive every single year. Upfront, we knew that there would be a big cost, but with the cost of actually banking the blood every year, my husband and I talked about having to let it go. We really don't want to let it go. We had it for a decade. But every year, because we have cord blood and tissue, it's $800 a year. Every year, we're like, "Should we just let this go? Should we donate it?" Just paying for it is hard. It's just we have a history of cancer in our family, a BRCA gene. We feel like we want the cord blood. So, we make it work but it feels very expensive for us. It's a sacrifice.

Cord Blood Registry is a great company to work with. They've offered discounts, including referral and pay in advance discounts. They also provide a newsletter to tell people what's going on with the cord blood and with the cells. It's a really good program that they offer. I have friends who have done it, but they didn't do it with Cord Blood. They just did general banks and they wish they had gone with the Cord Blood.

I highly disliked and DO NOT recommend utilizing or even initiating to work with Cord Blood Registry (CBR) for many reasons. Once they get your information, their marketing tactics are absolutely relentless with endless calls and emails; their team does not seem to be cohesive, when you provide info to one rep or ask them to stop calling, another steps up to take their place. We signed up via a promotion at a pregnancy expo in which we were told signing up locks in the special and no payment or cost till sample is received and no cost if you choose not to use the service; seemed like a no brainer to sign up.
After doing our research we felt that for us it was best to not submit and store any tissues after reading they had a high chance of samples being unusable or contaminated when families went to retrieve and use the tissues. Paying for years of storage for the samples to be unusable was not something we wanted to do nor felt comfortable with. By signing up and later opting to not go through with tissue storage, we later found out they charge you a $150 non-refundable cancellation fee that you cannot get out of nor will they waive. So essentially just by signing up, they extract a significant charge onto families of newborns who later choose to avoid using their service. Again, highly DO NOT recommend using the services of CBR and as the saying goes, “buyer beware…”

As long as they're siblings and they're full siblings as well, they should be able to use it from the other one.
Thanks so much, Sylvia for being part of our CBR family. And for others out there considering this for more than one child, there are many reasons why preservation is smart for all your children. The first being that more stem cells equal more potential future resources for your family. This is important when considering all the exciting research happening in regenerative medicine for a wide range of conditions that can occur throughout a lifetime. It's also important for transplant medicine, as most conditions require the use of a closely matched donor's cells, like a sibling's. Your child is a perfect genetic match to their own cells, so storing for all of your children allows them to each have their own unique resource.

CBR is the biggest and the most responsive. Any time I call, they're there and able to take care of me. Also, whenever I would go to the maternity classes for my first kid, it was one of the ones that they offered. I read the benefits and potential research that would come out of stem cell banking. I did it for my first born in case I ever needed it then it was one of those things where it made sense to store it annually. My second kid and third kid came and we did the same thing. I only gotta pay X amount to go get it delivered. I'd rather pay it now than something happened and I don't have it available.
But instead of having us look up the certificates of deposits online, CBR could have them printed and sent to us so that if there was ever any buyout, we don't have the the risk of losing it online and not being able to access it. Also, at this point the rates are going up per year. I was thinking of keeping it till my kids were 14 or 16, but I probably will end up dropping it around 10 years old if I don't see CBR come up with anything. I also was never educated on the information on the day I decide to cancel, what the procedure is, and how all that's gonna be disposed of or if it's gonna be kept for research.

They've been nothing but understanding because this last year has been a little bit crazy. I was a little bit late on my fee and they were very understanding and didn't threaten to get rid of it. They were very helpful and patient with me getting to be able to catch up. I'm glad I picked them and I'm hoping in the future it will help out.

I did Cord Blood Registry to mitigate any future medical issues, and it's been 100% positive. If there'd be future medical issues such as different types of cancer or other issues that could be addressed with stem cells, it could be used for either my son or family members as well. It's like an extra insurance policy and I tried to convince all of my family members to do it. This is a resource that goes to waste so much and I would encourage anybody, even if you're not going to pay to bank your own, to donate it. It doesn't hurt anybody to do it and it could save lives.

Cord Blood sent me the package and detailed what I needed to do. Everything came labeled. The nurses were happy with it because it was easy to read the instructions. They took blood work from me and from there, we took the kit to the OR. However, the prices keep going up every year. We thought it was gonna be steady. They send messages though that you can secure for 80 years but for thousands of dollars which the average American cannot easily afford. Other than that, this is something that every parent should do. The process is easy because once they have the blood, they send somebody who picks it up and takes it back to them. So, it works very smoothly and the blood is stored properly. We haven't needed it, but we know it's there if we do. It's been a long time since we did the banking and Cord Blood just holds the blood for us now. It’s been a good experience. Cord Blood Registry sent me emails periodically and then I got a call that I was turned in to the collection agency. But I pay all my bills and I have good credit. They told me, "We didn't know how to get ahold of you." They said they tried to mail stuff. But I told them that they were emailing me. The rep said, "Oh, I'm sorry." I started with Natera and it moved out to CBR. Most of the transactions have always been on the phone and it's a very quick call. It's always sorted out immediately no matter what doubts I have. Even during COVID, CBR’s reps were working from home and they did a great job picking up the calls or answering the questions. The experience has been peaceful. It’s like a bank that you just put your money in and then you get an update. I have recommended a lot of people but many don't think that it's necessary to bank the blood cord. CBR has been in the industry for so long. It’s a good experience and it’s good to do that.

It was an all right experience but they were not very communicative. I filled out the paperwork, and the assumption was made that they came and got it. There was never any communication that they had it. I'm a sickle cell patient and they store my son's stem cells for the first five years for free. When you get a representative on the phone, the people are nice and they answer, but they lack customer service.
Cord Blood reached out in terms of being able to store my son's stem cells but if I didn't reach out to say, "Hey, what's the status of it? What's the next step? I understand because I was high risk and sickle cell, it was stored for free for the first five years." For instance, in order to continue to store it, the person I spoke with told me it was close to $300 and then asked me if am I able to go ahead and pay that now. I told her that I would not be able to pay that. That 300 a month is a lot to sustain for the next 16 years since my son is only five. I want to know what happens to my son's stem cells after that. I'm still waiting for that answer.

They confirm that the physician indeed has what they need. The whole experience was wonderful. Anytime I call, somebody answers. They always return calls if they can and solve whatever issue I have. It's usually when I change banks and have to change the payment. I hope I never have to use it, but I feel comfort and peace of mind. I was more impressed with Cord Blood Registry. I felt better about having our son blood bank with them as opposed to any of the other companies I researched at the time. The people I always talk to on the phone were very nice. They always answered every question. They had a lot of information to share. There were a lot of those types of things that when I started doing the research about cord blood, there were just a lot of unknowns. At the time, there were no promises made. I never read anything online and was like, "Oh, my gosh. This is gonna cure or something." But I got the impression from Cord Blood Registry and my personal research that it was like an insurance policy.
I can bank my blood. I can pay this certain amount. And for that, as these new scientific discoveries come about, I may be in a position to have them help me because I've done it. There are many things, whether it be grandparents or a parent or whoever that could possibly use it. So it was, "Why just throw it away?" We've been happy with them.
I learned a lot in the very beginning. They were very responsive to all sorts of questions. You're giving birth and bringing a baby into the world. It's a bit of a stressful time. There were no hang-ups about receiving the kit. Our doctor was able to use it very smoothly. And she was familiar with it. They were able to send it off all within the good.
We're still paying once a year. When the bill comes up every year, around November, I do the research quickly again to see, "Okay. Is it still even viable at this point?" But the impression I've been left with is, yes, because the cryotherapy storage is still viable. And we also have access because ours is in the system to other. So, for the very small amount, we're still continuing to pay annually. I would still tell anybody else, for the price that it is, for what it possibly promises with the science, it's worth it.
Thanks, Jocelyn, for choosing CBR. And welcome to our family!
