We purchased 4 Belcourt stationary chairs, 2 ottomans and 1 side table, spending over 1000 dollars at Home Depot 1 month ago. The furniture is on our large deck against our house and is mostly shaded by a cantilever umbrella also purchased from Home Depot. We now have a very large burn to the top of a cushion with fabric that was obviously melted through to the cushion padding. We also have two other exposed cushions with burn marks. This is very concerning for fire. When I spoke to the rep at Hampton Bay, I was told that this does happen and that the products were not covered under warranty. Very disappointed in the customer service and will never again purchase such a product and will likely dispose of the $1000+ dollars worth of furniture that is 1 month old because of the fire risk.

Hampton Bay will not stand behind their shabby, poor quality work. I recently bought a Hampton Bay fabric topped gazebo. My wife and I constructed it ourselves. It took the better part of an entire day. It rained overnight! The next morning there were GALLONS of water collected on the roof making the material sag terribly. The fabric fit the frame so poorly that wouldn't properly drain the rain water. I called Home Depot customer service who transferred me to the "Warranty" department. I wast informed that this is not covered under the "Warranty".
The section of the instructions marked "Warranty" says that it will guarantee for 1 year, "Frame and Fabric". Here's The Rub Under Safety Information there is a "warning." "The gazebo is NOT a permanent structure and must be used under normal weather conditions. We recommend removal of the canopy in windy conditions as gazebos, like umbrellas, catch wind. You must however completely disassemble the entire unit prior to any severe weather conditions such as thunderstorms, hurricanes and/or heavy wind and rain. Failure to do so will cause the gazebo to have structure damage and even structural collapse."
This is taken directly from the Mfg. instructions. This means my wife and I would have had to put up and take down this piece of crap 20 or 30 times this spring alone. We can't go on vacation without taking it down. We can't go shopping without taking it down. We can't take a boat ride without taking it down. If this not the most stupid thing going. IT'S FOR CERTAIN I'LL NEVER BUY ANOTHER HAMPTON BAY ANYTHING.

We purchased this set in March. While assembling one of the chairs I noticed it was not lining up the screw holes. I found the frame to be bend. I contacted Hampton Bay to explain the situation and they said they would replace the left and right side of the chair but it was back ordered at the time. It is now June 19th and still no word back on the replacement item. I've called them numerous times and they explained to me they were waiting for the vendor to send replacement parts. 3 weeks ago they informed me the part were being received in a couple of days and they would be shipping my part out. Of course nothing has happened and I told them I wanted a replacement chair at this time... No response. Customer service is horrible with this company!

In case you haven't picked up from the other reviews on Hampton Bay patio furniture, I can confirm it is cheap Chinese crap that gives "made in China" a bad name. Our 7-piece dining patio set looked great. But the inside of it is hollow raw steel. It started rusting immediately. I contact Home Depot and Hampton Bay customer support. Hampton Bay claims that rust is an "Act of Nature" that can not be avoided. Imagine you just bought a new car and it started rusting the first day that it rained. Would you accept an excuse like that? Of course not. Rust can be prevented with a variety of manufacturing techniques and material choices. Hampton Bay, simply put builds patio furniture on the cheap. Home Depot, to their credit did accept a return on the furniture without my having to dismantle the set.

I bought this set of Hampton Bay patio furniture less than two years ago. It sure in hell was not cheap. Within this time the complete set is falling apart and the material is just disintegrating. The whole set is kept under the covered patio so no sun or weather elements hit it. I believe this is the cheapest pieces of ** ever made and I would recommend to anybody to never buy Hampton patio furniture ever. I know I won't. My set which includes 2 chairs, 2 ottomans, 1 coffee table and 1 3 cushion love seat. I would never buy this ** again or anything else by HAMPTON BAY!!!

Both of the chairs to this set broke in the same place due to faulty welding. I had a five year warranty on the frame. Because Home Depot cannot go back further than 2 years and I am unable to find my receipt, the company indicates that I cannot get a replacement without the receipt even after sending pictures of the problem. This is total crap!! Why buy a life-time set and find the warranty is only applicable with original receipt!! Buyers beware. I am not through with this company yet.

I bought a patio set from them last summer that comes with a "2 YEAR" warranty. I purchased the set Memorial Day weekend and one of the chairs broke in June (not even a month later) while my 3-yr old niece was sitting it. She ended up banging her head part and getting scratches all over her. When I called cust service Home Depot told me I needed to call Hampton Bay directly as they couldn't help. When I called I THOUGHT the rep was very helpful and explained exactly what I had to do to get chair replaced. WELL first I had to send her a picture of the damaged chair with a copy of original receipt which I did.
A MONTH later I got an email saying I needed to send a picture, the barcode from the box and the part # that was included in the assembly instructions. Neither of which I had. When I email her back she said unfortunately she wasn't able to help me but I was welcome to go to Home Depot and try to exchange the broken chair. They would not replace it as I bought it a set and the chairs were not sold separately. So basically I had to spend the summer hoping that the chairs weren't going to collapse what we were sitting in them. Unacceptable and both Home Depot and Hampton Bay should be embarrassed at the products they sell. The fact that they know from the get go that they are going to try whatever BS they can to honor the warranties sickens me. Lesson of the day: Buy local from small businesses. They actually stand by their products and promises.

Bought the 2 piece patio set. Use the swivel chairs at your own peril. We have 2 chairs suddenly collapse. I have some experience with welds and aluminum. Frankly, they were "crap". The 1st incident was caused by IMO a faulty weld. The 2nd was shearing of the aluminum struts. Both resulted in sore backs, some cuts and bruises. These should not be available for sale. The company should be embarrassed to produce such inferior product. Run, don't buy!

I contacted Home Depot Customer service several times & to discuss the issues I was having with my patio set. Most recently contacted customer support noting my issues with my patio set. I was told because its outside of warranty they will do nothing. My table top is corroding from the inside out. I have six table chairs all but one is peeling & having issues with corrosion. The process began at the plant in China where the patio set is manufactured. The powder coat is going on the patio set most likely when it's not completely dry. This is to save time & money but ends up costing us as consumers in the end.
I will never buy this type or any type of large product purchase from HOME DEPOT AGAIN! Just look at all the complaints. I had a Samsonite set from Sears, never the issues like I am having with this Home Depot Hampton Bay garbage. I regret getting rid of the set to buy this one. Look at my pictures, the picture of only one chair is as it should be, no issues. Everything else as described has premature problems that should not be if there were at minimum some production run quality control in place. Remember Lumber Liquidators? Anything now from China you're rolling the dice. Home Depot should know better and stand behind their product.

I purchased the 7 pc set at the beginning of summer (we are located in Ohio, purchased June) this set seemed to be the most bang for your buck. According to the manufacturer, the seat cushions are waterproof (makes sense, they will be used outdoors). After 3 months, we started to notice that when we would sit on the chairs that the cushions were actually soaking wet. The top would be dry, but the minute you would sit down, your entire rear end would be soaked. This is not good. I didn't expect this set to be top of the line, but it would have been nice if it would have lasted 3/4 yrs. I opened up the cushions to find white powder everywhere (that's where that was coming from, it was on the surface of all the furniture) the waterproof fabric lining totally broke down. I am going to have to find a creative way to reline these so I can get my money's worth out of this set :(

We provided her with the pictures she requested then she stated the fan could be a third party so she connected me with the third party name Mike who provided me with a false email address and a website where I can locate the remote. The remote and fan clearly say Hampton Bay on them. The experience we had with Hampton Bay was horrible! In December 2014 we bought four Hampton Bay sun loungers for our home in Naples, Florida and we only just relocated there at the end of June 2015. Already one of the cushions is parting at the seams on both sides. When contacting HD was told that without the receipt they could not verify the warranty and they put the onus on me to find the receipt and if I was unable to do so I would have to pay to have it replaced or repaired when this is definitely a manufacturing fault. Very disappointed with this attitude and will certainly not buy anything from this store again.

I purchased a 7 piece Hampton Bay patio set from Home Depot late last summer in August 2014. I have kept the chairs and cushions inside from then until now, due to the season changing. I was entertaining outside on the last weekend in this July 2015, so I set up my table set. I noticed that a few cushions developed what appeared to be burn circles on them. I thought that was odd for this to happen. No one smokes in my house and I was beginning to think it could have been vandalism. Another day went by in 85 deg temp and I noticed more burn circles and the older circles burned down to the white stuffing. I found this site while I was researching the quality of the fabric on this furniture set. It has been a year since purchase and I am very disappointed to have a furniture set that cannot be exposed to the sun. There are a total of 4 cushions that have been damaged from sun exposure from only a week of being used!

I purchased the Hampton Bay Raynham 7-Piece Patio Dining Set a little over one year ago from Home Depot. Under no adverse weather conditions, with nothing sitting on top of it and no damage to it, the glass table top exploded. It shot glass off in all directions upwards to 12 feet away. The glass was all over the table, chairs, deck, patio, in our rocks, landscaping, and grass. It took hours to clean it all up and there's no way we got all of it that's in the grass and rocks.
I called Home Depot about it who stated that the glass isn't covered under the warranty plus they don't make that model anymore so they can't help me with anything. They then suggested I contact a local glass company who could probably help me fix it. Warranty and replacement aside, they didn't seem too concerned about having a glass product out there that EXPLODES and projectiles under no certain conditions. Their line of questioning included whether it was windy or something was sitting on top of it - curious why that should be of issue as it's a TABLE meant to go OUTSIDE. I have two toddlers in my house and am very thankful they (or anyone else) were not sitting at the table when this happened.

The rep from Hampton Bay pointed out the somewhere in the documentation stated that the PATIO furniture was not supposed to be outside in weather??? It's patio furniture!!! By definition PATIO means outside.
Whoever heard of taking patio furniture out of the rain and sun? We took due diligence to stow and cover during winter months. This product was defective from the start. After paying $1000.00 for this set less than 3 years ago. Hampton wants to offer $100 toward a new table. This is not fair and not enough compensation. The chairs are showing signs of degradation. When I got in touch with the people at Home Depot I was told not replacement parts are sold separately. I was given the parts dept. number if I wished to order the whole canopy unit in order to get a new crank assembly. I feel this is totally wrong to make the customer purchase the whole item at $129.00 plus shipping and tax for a crank assembly that probably costs them about $5.00. Another person said it would cost $350 because the crank, pole and umbrella are one unit.
If customers are willing to repair a unit instead of replacing the whole unit or a new umbrella the company should make the parts readily available. I had faith in purchasing your product but evidently your company has no regard for the people who purchased your products. We purchased this dining set from Home Depot in the early summer of 2012. Upon delivery to our home, the tabletop was cracked and chipped in multiple areas. We assumed it wasn't handled properly in the mail. After a few attempts to reach customer service, we did in fact have another tabletop delivered to our home. Again, there was damage to edges; less, but still apparent.
After the grueling process of having the original replaced, we opted to just deal; reluctantly. Spending $1,000 plus on a set, for summer, we were eager to use it. Slowly but surely, the top continued to crack, peel, splits at the edges. Proving only that the "damage" to the table top wasn’t "damage" at all from shipping. It’s simply because of poor construction and the materials used that are just not durable enough to withstand the elements - direct sunlight, moisture, etc., all factors that should be necessary when buying "quality outdoor" furniture.
At the end of each summer, it has been stored for the winter months and cared for as best as possible to avoid further deterioration. This summer, 2014, it has gotten to the point where you can no longer “overlook” the defects. After doing some recent research, warranty information states the tabletop is only covered for 1 year. And it’s quite difficult to reach customer service, as I stated before. I'm frustrated to say the least. For something that cost what it did, it should have provided us with years of enjoyment. This set has been discontinued, but I wouldn't recommend buying any Hampton Bay patio furniture. I will never again.

After very little use of my umbrella the crank mechanism started to be difficult to raise and lower the umbrella. As soon as I put pressure on it the unit would start jumping and not crank properly. I took upon myself to take the unit apart so I could get the parts necessary to repair it on my own. When I got in touch with the people at Hampton Bay I was told not replacement parts are sold separately. I was given the parts dept. number if I wished to order the whole canopy unit in order to get a new crank assembly. I feel this is totally wrong to make the customer purchase the whole item at $120.00 plus shipping and tax for a crank assembly that probably costs them about $5.00.
If customers are willing to repair a unit instead of replacing the whole unit or a new umbrella the company should make the parts readily available. I had faith in purchasing your product but evidently your company has no regard for the people who purchased your products. I will make sure that anyone I know or see know your stance on your products and how you treat your customers. I guess that's how large companies become large companies! After the sale forget the customer and move on the next.

Ours is under a pergola, exposed to the elements and not taken care of with any special care. We don't have an umbrella in it. Think twice before buying a Hampton Bay umbrella base. I bought one a few years ago at Home Depot and the piece of round metal the umbrella goes into completely rusted off from the cast iron base. This is a very heavy base (50#+ and cost over $60) so I thought it would last a long time. This spring, when I was moving my patio furniture, I noticed the metal pole that connects to the base had completely rusted away and would not hold the umbrella. I contacted Home Depot customer service and got a nice rep Judy who asked about the situation. She said the item only had a one-year warranty but she would see what she could do. I sent her a picture of the rusted umbrella stand and told her it was over one-year old and I didn't have my receipt although Hampton Bay is only sold through Home Depot.
She called me back 3 days later saying that there was nothing she could do for me since it was over one-year old. I asked if she could get me the rusted pipe and I could connect it to the old base just to make it work. I wasn't trying to get a completely new item, just willing to pay for the part to make it functional. She said they only sell the whole units. Be careful what you buy and who you buy it from unless you want to be paying for something over and over every few years for something that should last much longer. I tried to get her as well, but I was barefoot and as soon as I stepped forward, I sliced the bottom of my foot open on a piece of glass. My daughter was also barefoot and only wearing a bathing suit. She is covered with little slice marks on her arms and legs. One on her arm is very likely going to scar as it's a bigger and thicker cut. Glass was all over her, including all in her hair. It was extremely scary. My two and one-year-olds are often barefoot on and below our deck. I immediately contacted Home Depot and they claimed to have never heard of this happening before. They said the table was not defective, but that since I am almost eight months pregnant and my husband was out of town, they would contact my local store and try to send someone to clean up the glass. Two very nice men from Home Depot spent two hours cleaning up glass from on and under my deck.
They explained that there was still some glass on the deck that was stuck in between the boards. My husband said that it will take at least several more hours with a shop vacuum to get most of what remains of the glass. I feel like my kids and I are prisoners in our own home. The glass is such a hazard. Even after most of the glass is up, I will fear every time my kids go out on our deck or in our back yard. Not to mention, we have a useless patio set and are out the money that it cost us. Here is my biggest complaint and why I think Home Depot should compensate us: In 2009 when we purchased the set, they were well aware of the defect and not only continued to sell this product, but didn't inform the consumer of the problem. The shattering Martha Stewart glass table tops were big news at the time.
Obviously, had we known that the Hampton Bay glass tops were made by the same manufacturer, we never would have purchased this table. According to Home Depot, the table glass did come with a five-day warranty and since nothing happened within the first five days of ownership, it isn't defective. Unbelievable! There are so many complaints about these glass table tops online and thankfully, I haven't read about anyone being seriously injured by the shattering glass. This is so surprising to me when it seems like it could so easily happen. Home Depot not only ripped off consumers, but put them and continues to put them in danger by not recalling these glass table tops.
We are out the money that the patio set cost us and have a useless, topless table. We can't use our deck or backyard at this time, despite two very helpful men from Home Depot who spent two hours removing most of the glass. There are still shards of glass everywhere. I have a one-year-old and two-year-old who can't safely play outside in their own backyard or on their deck.

I have two Hampton Bay ceiling lights purchased at Home Depot about four years ago. Since then I have blown three ballasts and five florescent lights. Home Depot replaced the first light when a ballast blew a couple months after I purchased the lights. These lights were made by King of Fans and I have spoken with them about my concerns of a fire since the plastic in the bulbs are melted and black and the ballasts turn from white to brown with cracked wiring.
They tell me there is no danger of fire but I find this hard to believe looking with the bulbs and ballasts. I believe there is a design flaw with these lights and I am not comfortable with them. I feel they should be replaced by Hampton Bay or Home Depot. I have asked if they were willing to accept responsibility of a fire and they were not. Early Wednesday morning, I heard what sounded like a gunshot. When I looked out the french doors to my pool deck, I discovered a million pieces of shattered tempered glass covering the entire deck. I had absolutely no idea what had happened. Our pool has an enclosure and there was nothing else on the deck to warrant what had happened. I now realize that this is a defect with the product.
We had just recently had 12 couples over for a Christmas party and I can't even imagine what would have happened if this had happened that night. I also have a small dog who loves to run around on the deck and I would have been heartsick if something would have happened to him. It will take a long time to get all the shards of glass off the deck, so we won't be enjoying it for a while. I only pray that none of it exploded into the pool. There is no way of knowing this. I thought this was an isolated defect in the product, but after reading other complaints about Hampton Bay, I realize this is due to poor manufacturing standards by the company.
I am grateful it did not shatter by my two small children. We still cannot use our deck because of the small shards of glass embedded in the rug. We have to now replace the entire set and rug because replacement glass is $200-300 alone. I will never purchase another product from Hampton Bay.

In June 2010, my wife was sitting in one of the swivel rockers, slowly rocking, when the chair broke and she fell backwards on our concrete patio. Fortunately, she was not injured. Upon inspecting the broken chair, we found that all four of the chair base support welds had broken at the tube that holds the chair. We wanted to preserve our investment, so I asked a local certified welder if he could re-weld the base. He said there was no metal near the weld to repair and that (in his opinion) the chair was very cheaply constructed. I purchased 2 dining sets (Melbourne) 2 years ago. About a year ago the paint started peeling off of some of the chairs and legs. It looks horrible and we paid $1200 for it. The finish is supposed to be guaranteed for 5 years. This is so disappointing. I won't be buying Hampton Bay furniture again. We paid close to $1500 with tax and delivery on the cost of $1200 for the 2 sets. It's so ugly now.

I have 2 of the same set of Patio furniture from Hampton Bay, which has round grey glass top table with 4 chairs and umbrella. While away on an overnight trip, the table tops shattered. The temperature wasn't over 70 degrees on the day or night that this happened. One umbrella went into the yard and the other just lay on top of the table. Both umbrellas were severely damaged beyond repair. Luckily, the umbrellas did not blow away and damage our neighbor’s property or do personal bodily harm to someone.
I will not purchase anything else from Hampton Bay! They need to order a recall on this product and our money returned to us for the purchase of a faulty product!

I bought an 8pc. Hampton Bay glass top patio table and furniture. I looked outside this morning to find that the glass dining table had exploded in a million pieces, all in the grass and on patio pavers. I found online all the complaints on the same thing. I thank God this didn't happened last weekend on Easter when my family, kids and grandkids including two babies were all sitting around this table! I want someone to recall this product and replace this product. Thank you.

We bought the Hampton Bay Kampar 5-piece dining set from Home Depot in July 2008. Yesterday -- a bright, calm, sunny day -- our patio dining table glass top exploded into a million pieces. Luckily, my two year old wasn't outside playing at the time! But, there are still so many shards of glass that we can't get up with the Shop Vac, etc., I don't know how long it will be before she can go out to our backyard to play. I am upset because the company -- JRA Furniture -- is now out of business and we have no economic recourse.

I have a Hampton Bay glass table top patio furniture set that is just a little over 1 year old, my family was sitting at the table with umbrella out and a small gust of wind shook the umbrella and the glass table top shattered into a million pieces. We were very lucky not to have any major cuts just small cuts on my sons hands and his girlfriend's feet, so happy no small children were around when this happened.

We bought our furniture at the end of the season in 2008, we didn't get much use out of that year. In 2009 we came home to find the table top shattered into a million pieces. We have 4 dogs and and a grandchild who plays in the yard all the time (and the dogs obviously do their business out there). It took me forever to clean it up and then we still found pieces in the grass.
Is Hampton Bay taking any responsibility for this? It is obviously defective if so many people have had problems and the same one. I was going to try to replace my top so I can use it but found out it was going to be expensive to do that. Do I have any other choices at this time? I won't be able to use my patio furniture at least not the table. The 4 chairs were swivel/rockers. It didn't cost me to clean it up other than the manpower, however I have no table to eat or sit at this summer.

I have a Hampton Bay patio set that I bought from Home Depot less than a year ago. Sometime this morning, the glass top shattered into thousands and thousands of tiny pieces. At first, I thought the wind had blown the umbrella out and caused it to break but no one else in the neighborhood seems to have had such strong wind. We're out a fairly new patio table. I guess I'll have to either buy a new set or have a new top made for this one. Hopefully, I got all the glass picked up. I have a dog and two small children who like to run around in the yard.

After reviewing the hundreds of other complaints on this site about the glass shattering on Hampton Bay tabletops, I was easily able to find many other complaints that I could have copied word for word as my own. But here is my story: Hampton Bay Patio Table Glass shattered into a million shards of glass on our back patio. It also shredded and left shards in the cushions of our four Hampton Bay matching chairs. This patio furniture was purchased at Home Depot, who is avoiding responsibility. No one was outside at the time but our two Irish Setter Dogs were extremely lucky they did not get hurt.

I purchased a Hampton Bay patio set from the Home Depot in San Antonio at this location 3 years ago. It was a glass topped table with an umbrella in the middle that extended down to the ground in an umbrella stand. The screw in the base of the stand did not ever seem to stabilize the umbrella pole, and eventually, it (the pole) started to spin when it got a little windy. I tightened the screw as far and as hard as I could, but the pole spun and it actually sliced at the point of the screw--so, the bottom 8 inches was secure in the stand, and another 4 inches at the top was free to spin as much as it wanted to when it got windy.
As disturbing as this was, there was nothing more unnerving than to be sitting at the table and have the glass shatter in a million pieces right on me and all over the deck, giving me not only a huge mess to clean up, but many nicks from the glass on my thighs and legs! It burst without warning, there were no cracks or other structural defects that I was aware of. Please do something to stop this table from being manufactured. I am out a couple of thousand dollars, and my mind for ever buying this deathtrap!

I felt like I was reading my own story, when reading the complaints. I bought the 7 piece set in June/07. We used it at our summer home in Md., so we only use it June to Sept. During the summer months when we leave for a few days, I always cover it with the cover we purchased at the same time. In the winter, we put everything inside the house. I don't even store it in the garage.
This winter, we brought home one of the swivel chairs for my husband to use inside the house. He is in a wheelchair, and likes the material used on the chair since he sits all day, and enjoyed using that instead of the wheelchair. One evening, the base just snapped.
Luckily, he was on rug, and wasn't hurt. I feel the quality of the finish and everything else about my set was great, but I do feel they should replace the chair. I feel I took very good care of the set, and after reading, I certainly feel this is a faulty problem on the manufacturer's part. I also want to mention that I looked at the 2010 sets of this same type. Heaven help whoever buys these, as they certainly do not feel half as heavy as the ones I bought.

We purchased a Hampton Bay patio table and chairs for approximately $1200. We were told the finish was rust-proof and is called Antique Taina Finish. It is only 2 years old and was sold with a 3-year warranty, which is finished. It is now chipping off on the edges of tables and on small areas of the chairs.
It was purchased at Home Depot. They only warranty for 3 months and told us to contact Hampton Bay. Number for problems on paperwork we received is 800-211-8881 which answers as a reward center.

I purchased a Hampton Bay patio set with four chairs and two rockers, with umbrella. It had a glass top. I have had it on my deck for 6 years, covering only the table during the very wet winters we have. During the summer, temperatures have reached over 100 degrees. I have had no problems at all with this set and it looks as good as the day we bought it. The cushions are starting to fray and I should have stored them in the winter, but otherwise we feel this is a good product. As for tabletops shattering, I've had that happen during dinner in my kitchen with other glass table tops. It can happen if they are slightly ajar or something very hot suddenly hits a cooler glass top. This is not unique to these tops.

We purchased a Hampton Bay outdoor furniture set from Home Depot. It consisted of a glass top table, 4 rock & swivel chairs and an umbrella with a stand. Within 6 months of use, we noticed the chairs began to crack at the weld points. Not long after that the glass table top exploded. It was a beautiful day outside with no wind. Glass shards flew as far as 20-30 feet. We have a furniture set that we paid $500 for and is now useless. We had to remove glass shards from our dog's paws. Fortunately no one was on the deck at the time of the incident. We have been loyal customers to both of these companies for many years and would like for that to continue. We expect these companies to step up to the plate and compensate their consumers for our losses.

On 5/20/2007 I purchased a patio dining set named Hampton Bay made by Marta Steward Living (Home Depot SKU number 733320021522). Recently the top glass exploded (shattered). I checked the glass replacement cost and it is at least $225. On the internet I found that hundreds of other consumers have experienced the same problem with shattered glass top from the same manufacturer. Due to the mentioned problem, I requested Home Depot if I could get a new table as replacement. Home Depot said they do not sell or replace the tables separately, meaning I have to buy a new set!

Two of the cushions caught fire after a period of strong rains. The cushions were damp from the rain and were then exposed to regular sunlight over the course of a few days. The moisture in the cushions heated to the point where it caused the cushions to char from the inside. They were not exposed to any other combustible material, so the fire did not spread. The two of the four cushions are ruined. Concern for ongoing fire hazard.

I purchased a Hampton Bay patio set having two swivel rockers from Home Depot not more than two years ago. The other evening, the swivel base on one rocker snapped where the three braces (legs) meet the solder joints on the base of the rocker just as my wife was sitting on the chair. Luckily, she just barely missed hitting her head on the table top corner, but she ended up falling flat on her back. It's too bad that we cannot add photos to these entries. The swivel chair is now useless and not repairable. I paid over $600 for this patio set that is now incomplete.

I bought a Hampton Bay lighted umbrella at Home Depot. On a windy day, with the umbrella in the down position, the umbrella post was bent in half by the wind. I have had the umbrella for just over a year. There was no problem with the working parts of the umbrella but the company does not want to either replace the umbrella or give me a refund as the umbrella is out of warranty. However, my argument is that the pole should not have bent and the age of the umbrella is not a factor in the damage that the windstorm caused to the pole. Umbrella pole bent at a right angle. The quality of the metal is extremely poor. The company, World Factory, does not want to replace the umbrella nor refund my money so I am out over $100.
