I purchased the Hampton Bay 9 ft. Solar Lighted Umbrella from Home Depot in San Rafael about 1-1/2 years ago. Yesterday, I came home and the umbrella had cracked and broken in the pole where the umbrella can be tilted. Two pieces were on the ground, the metal piece was literally twisted/broken and the umbrella is laying on my table on its side. Their warranty is covered for 1 year and when I called Home Depot they said that, without a warranty, there's nothing they can do.

I received our patio as an anniversary gift. It rained, and we have rusty water that pours out from every direction from the chairs and table legs. It comes out for days after a rain. It has ruined the outdoor rugs that were under the set and left a rusty color all over the patio that does not come off. I am not happy with the whole thing, and I know our children are upset with the 50th anniversary gift that spews rusty water constantly and has colored our whole patio with rust.

Hampton bay table exploded. I made a complaint to Home Depot. They said they did an investigation and found nothing wrong. How can 5000 tables explode across the US and nothing is wrong? They said the manufacturer went out of business and I can pay $250 for a new glass top. Home Depot needs to back their products and recall these tables.

I bought a Hampton Bay Patio Set in 2007 at the Home Depot for $499. It was the rectangular table with 4 chairs and 2 swivel chairs. We were having 50 people over for my son's first birthday party starting at 4PM. At 3PM, we heard a loud explosion from outside. To my amazement, I found the glass table top completely smashed. Thousands of tiny pieces everywhere. It was a complete disaster and we actually had to move the party to my in-laws because of the broken glass. This product is trash. I would not recommend it to anyone. Home Depot should be ashamed of themselves for carrying such a cheap product!

I purchased a Hampton Bay patio set with a glass table top. The table top exploded all over my daughter, who was adjusting the umbrella. She ended up with multiple shards of glass in her arms and legs and bled. I had to hose her off with the garden hose to get the glass off - it was everywhere, even in her hair! I am appalled to hear so many other folks have had similar experiences with the glass table tops. This is a very unsafe product and I will recommend this, folks: go elsewhere for patio furniture.

Less than a year ago, we bought a Hampton Bay Calabria dining set and a Hampton Bay rectangular Calabria umbrella (model DA9MKT-ROS) at Home Depot. The umbrella base is very light. The wind blew it recently and ruined the umbrella's base pole and the table's umbrella reducing ring. Parts seem to be almost impossible to obtain. Should I throw away the $500-worth Hampton Bay Calabria dining set and the $149-worth Hampton Bay Calabria rectangular umbrella? Home Depot, please come to the rescue. We are talking a good $650 wasted!

We recently purchased a patio furniture set by Hampton Bay / BJ Furniture at Home Depot. When I tried to register the products for warranty, I went to the site, and tried to register the purchase, but there is no place to register the stuff! You get a total runaround! I started to think something was fishy. Then, I found all the complaints by consumers about how their glass top tables explode for no apparent reason! I have grandchildren that play on my patio and now I'm scared! What the ** is going on? I contacted Home Depot about it but have not yet heard back. Why aren't the glass top tables being recalled?!

The first Hampton Bay umbrella that I bought only two years ago ripped near the top. I recently replaced the umbrella with a new one from Home Depot (also a Hampton Bay) that has solar powered LED's. The solar powered LED's don't work at all. If this is the quality to be expected from Hampton Bay, then I guess I'm spending my money with the wrong company.

My glass table top on my Dana Point manufactured under the Hampton Bay name for Home Depot had shattered into tiny little shards. Around 3:00pm, I heard a loud popping/breaking sound out on my patio. It looked like my patio was covered with 7,000 tiny pieces of ice. The high velocity resulted in glass fragments being imbedded in the backs of my matching sling chairs. After the glass shattered, the entire table fell over and broke off the top section of the matching umbrella. Glass was everywhere. Glass shards were actually embedded in the screen of my sliding glass door. It took hours to clean it up.

We purchased a Hampton Bay Patio Set, table plus 4 chairs and 2 rocking/swivel chairs in 2005. The paint is chipping off of the table and looks terrible. We haven't really used it very much. Also, both of the rocking/swivel chairs broke. The first time, my husband fell backwards into the planter and almost hit his head on a big boulder that is in there. The second rocker someone was sitting in and we heard it crack. When we looked underneath, we found that both chairs broke in the exact same place. We couldn't do anything but throw them away.
Now we have a rectangular table with only 4 chairs and a table that looks like it's 20 years old. I'm pissed! We don't want to just trash it and buy another set but it looks terrible with only 4 chairs.

I purchased the Hampton Bay Simone set patio furniture from Home Depot in 2005. The catalog which I used to purchase the furniture had a 7-year warranty published in it. Now, four years later, the furniture is falling apart. The slings have holes in it. The paint is chipping off the aluminum frame. The rope is breaking inside the umbrellas. I contacted Home Depot and the manufacture of the furniture. Neither one will take responsibility for this error. I paid $3,200.00 for this furniture and I feel like someone should be responsible for misrepresenting the warranty of this furniture. I now have four chairs with tears in them, six chairs with paint flaking off in multiple areas, and two broken umbrellas and no one will do anything.

I have purchased several items from Home Depot from the Hampton Bay (Lasserre patio series). The 7-piece table set had a frame issue. The 5-piece Lasserre bar set has an issue with one of the swivel bar stools. BJI has none of these chairs or components of these chairs. They have no plans to manufacture any more as well. I have over $3000 worth of Hampton Bay Lasserre furniture that is less than 3 years old and I am not able to make warranty claims or purchase replacement parts.
I thought that retailers must offer replacement parts for 10 years in the USA for retail items? I have spent several thousand dollars at Home Depot over the last 5 years. I contacted Home Depot and got a pleasant response until I queried them on how they were going to replace my entire bar set since I have no use for a swivel bar stool that doesn't match. I am luckier than most with the exploding table tops; but nonetheless, I feel this is a terrible business ethic at best. I would whole-heartedly agree with a class action lawsuit against Home Depot, Hampton Bay, BJI and any other related parties.

Apparently, I am not the only person that this has happened to and think there should be a recall. We should be given new tabletops or a new set. The base of a Hampton Bay swivel chair from Home Depot failed this morning. The aluminum welds failed, and I fell backwards and hurt my back. Fortunately, my head hit the grass beside our concrete patio, or I would probably be dead. This swivel chair is part of a set of two chairs and a table with a tile top. I purchased this set last year. This is just poor workmanship, which is what you would expect from China. Home Depot and Hampton Bay products should both be held accountable when they distribute and sell bad products.

My wife and I purchased the Hampton Bay patio furniture set from Home Depot in May of this year. After a month of owning the furniture, the glass table top exploded for no apparent reason. Millions of pieces of glass were all over our deck. It took me 3 hours to clean it up. I also sliced my foot open on a piece. We have two small dogs so we had to make sure that we got all of the glass up. To this day, we are still finding glass. I am extremely disappointed, especially now that I am seeing the hundreds of similar complaints. I also see that there is nothing we can do but look for a better set. I had a bad feeling about the set since it started rusting after its first night in the rain. Paint also started chipping off no more than a week from buying it. Very poor product and something needs to be done. Home Depot was of no help, of course.

I purchased specifically an outdoor sitting set and outdoor table and chair set by Hampton Bay. I absolutely love it, but after taking all the furniture out from storage, I found paint chipped off on almost all of my feet of the chairs and noticed a little bit on the tables. All items were wrapped in plastic and stored in a weather proof shed. No moisture, snow, ice or rain was able to touch the furniture. We even had the furniture placed in the yard purposely so that they wouldn't get damaged.
I would like some sort of compensation for the damage. I even purchased the furniture at full price (it didn't go on sale until the following week). I am a little upset, as now I may have to look at replacing both entire sets. I wasn't sure if the store was able to do anything, so I figured I'd start here and see what I can do. Unfortunately, I am unable to find the original receipt for both products. As well, I would like to find out how to order new parts (nuts and bolts) for my dining table as these were misplaced over the course of winter storage.
Kindly reply to the email noted, as I would like to have this taken care of sooner, rather than later. I'm not happy when I am entertaining and my company makes mention of the condition of the furniture and it being my second season with the furniture.

This 4th of July, the chair broke. All three legs broke right through the cheap Chinese aluminum. I called Home Depot, and I've been getting the runaround for days. After many shattered tables on my patio, I invested in a teak table from the woods of the rain forests, guaranteed to withstand anything and to nothing happening to the piece which was a 7-piece set table and chairs paid $1169.Yes, I did. It weighed over 200+ lbs. I put it together, piece by piece, and it took 2 days. It was beautiful looking (surprise). The very next day, it rained. God was talking to me it seems, the wood turned brown. Okay, maybe it was the first day. Well it rained again and the wood started to split so much that my daughters had splinters just sitting on the chair.
I called and called to complain to Home Depot about this Hampton Bay product and I got the runaround, until this nice gentleman gave me a direct phone to the corporate office, which this lady called me from Bolivia, and kept saying the item was great. She was a rep of course. Anyway, months went by and I received 2 bottle sets of teak oil and cleaner - that was it. I went back to the Home Depot and all they kept saying is to call corporate. Three years later, we sat on this thing twice with nothing done. Can someone please help?

We were sitting outside and all of a sudden, the table just exploded and glass were everywhere. My set was 4 years old and I am now left with a useless set also. I tried to contact the number on the paperwork and it is out of order. Home Depot told me they cannot get any replacement glass from the company. I have made several phone calls to glass companies and I would have to spend in-between $350.00 to $400.00 for the glass. It is an obvious defect for everyone's table to be doing the same thing. On May 26th, we were putting the cushions in the chairs when the table top glass exploded into a million pieces. To replace the top was more expensive than buying a new table. The new table was not made by Hampton Bay. I learned my lesson the hard way, not to buy patio furniture from Home Depot. Now, after having the table set for a year, the paint on all the chairs has bubbled up and is flaking off. We had guests coming to swim and spent hours sweeping up the pieces of the table top. What really makes me want to pull out my hair (in reference to this company at least) is that in the process of hiding from people that they ripped off, I have no way of simply ordering replacement cushions to match my set. If this company would just deal with their mistakes (and make their phone number known to more than just employees), they might make a few dollars from customers that just want to buy their products. What a novel idea. I’ll advertise an attractive product and not tell anybody how to buy it. Yeah! Maybe I, too, will have to file for bankruptcy. Bottom line: if ever you buy anything from the Home Depot labeled "Hampton Bay," you will only be irritated, unhappy with the quality of service, and, worst of all, bald (unless you're naturally bald, which is not bad).

How do we get our money back? The economic consequence is that I am without a patio set. I spent $599 on this set and now it is garbage, unless I am able to find another table top. Thus far, I cannot find any replacement and the glass shop charge over $250. Now, a set that cost $599 is costing $849 because of a defect, a reason it should not have been sold to me in the first place.

I purchased a beautiful Hampton Bay patio dining set from Home Depot (2 or 3 years ago). Upon returning from work yesterday, I found that the glass top had shattered into thousands of tiny pieces. Fortunately, the dogs had not yet gotten glass in their paws. It took an hour plus to clean it up as pieces were wedged between the deck boards. My fear is that a replacement piece of glass cannot be inserted in the table top. It looks as if the glass was inserted at the factory during assembly. I was shocked to find so many similar complaints against Hampton Bay on this site. I know now to look here first before making my next big purchase. I've warned friends who bought the same set, hoping that this won't happen to them.

I bought a Hampton Bay 5-pc gathering height set last October from Home Depot. My glass top broke 2 weeks ago when our umbrella fell over on to it. It instantly shattered everywhere. But I did go to Home Depot and a really nice man at the customer service helped me look up the product and told me where to get a replacement glass. It is a company in Louisville called BJI and their number is 800-279-1736. They will replace the glass top for $54 if I pick it up myself. They do charge $150 for shipping if you need it shipped. I was pleased to only have to pay $54. If you live in the Louisville area, it is a good deal but if you don't, it will cost you $200 to get a replacement piece of glass.

Approximately 18 months ago, my husband purchased a Hampton Bay 3-person patio swing at Home Depot in Covina, CA. I love the swing as it is very comfortable. We placed it in our front yard to be able to sit, relax and watch our children play. Well, the canopy on the swing has been baked by the sun so bad that it tore just after 6 months of owning it. I have my husband remove the canopy, I sewed it back together and we placed it on the swing again. It lasted about another 5-6 months before it tore from another area. But this time, I am unable to sew it due to the extremely fragile state the fabric is in.
With the current winds we have experienced in Covina, CA, in the last few weeks, the canopy had just fallen apart. I have tried with no luck to find a way to order a replacement for the canopy and have been unable to find a way to contact Hampton Bay. Home Depot will not help because they do not sell patio furniture part. They told us that they have the same swing on the floor which we can purchase. Well, we don't want to spend another $200. We just want to replace the canopy on our swing that works just fine - but needs the canopy. Can anyone suggest what we can do or how we can get a hold of Hampton Bay?

Hampton Bay Furniture - I bought a 5-piece glass top table and chairs from Home Depot. I barely had this for 3 months. One day, we had a storm with some wind. The wind literally picked up the table and tossed it. This table is so light that it could not withstand a 15 mile per hour wind. The glass shattered everywhere! This is junk now. I am out $400. I won’t replace the top. I will go somewhere else and look for new furniture. We called Home Depot, and we were shuffled around, and they said that we had to call the manufacturer. We did, and they told us that we had to order a new top, and we would have to pay $300 for it! I seem to be the only person in Pickens and Cherokee Counties that this has ever happened to, or so the customer service reps in the Canton and Jasper Home Depot stores say. They were no help in replacing it, or even helping resolve this issue with the manufacturer. They said they would be glad to sell me another and hoped I would have better luck! That's 1000 bucks for a very non-functional patio set. After about 2 hours of cleanup, and lots of glass in the fingers, I can say I am done with Home Depot. Thank God for the new Lowe's in Canton. First, I would like to thank George for his most helpful service when I called in. He did a great job in helping me. Now the problem: Order number #** - Hampton Bay 3 part Bistro Set. When I opened the carton, I found that it appeared before and possibly returned from another buyer. All of the parts were just dumped into the shipping carton. Perhaps I should have returned it. But after inspection, all the parts were there. However, after assembling the table, I opened the box containing the slate table top (four parts). One of the four was broken. George saved the day when I called in for a replacement.
As I stated above, all of the parts for the table and chairs were just dumped into the large shipping box. This is just not acceptable. Home Depot's reputation rest on how items, no matter how big or small, should always be packaged against damage. Small scratch marks are on some parts and I can live with that. Please relay to whomever it is that just dumping items into a box without any protection is a bad way to conduct business.

There was no reason for this table to break besides manufacture defect. Fortunately, there were no physical injuries. I'm concerned about pet injuries from pieces that could still be in the grass. We purchased a Hampton Bay 7 piece patio set in May, 2006, from Home Depot. The table had a glass top. About 3 weeks ago, Sept. 2008, we heard a loud crash at 4:00 a.m. We jumped up out of bed, flipped on the lights to the deck to find that our glass top on our patio table had exploded in small pieces all over our deck. It took my husband and I two hours to shovel the glass into a waste can and vacuum up all of the slivers of glass from the deck and chair cushions. We are still picking glass out of the cracks of our deck and the chair cushions will have to be thrown away and replaced because the small fragments of glass are so sharp that they have been embedded in the fabric seams and it is impossible to get all of them out so that the cushions are safe to sit on again.
We tried to contact Hampton Bay but were unable to find a website or phone number. We called a local glass company and were told that a replacement glass would cost us approximately $200.00. We just feel very fortunate that no one was sitting at the table or on the deck because they would have been injured by the glass. We wanted to pass our story on to other people so we can prevent others from getting hurt and educate the public that these tables are not safe. If you have a glass top patio table you should consider replacing this defective glass or getting rid of the table in the trash. We still have a waste can full of glass and photographs for proof that this indeed happened.
The cost of the table was approximately $650.00. It will have to be replaced because it is not feasible to purchase a new top for an additional $200.00. The table is unusable without a top and the chair cushions are unsafe to sit on and will have to be replaced.

It is dangerous to walk on the deck barefooted or to allow our dog to be on the deck. At first I thought it was a fluke, and I was trying to find a replacement glass.
Home Depot was of no help, just said they didn't carry it anymore. I wasn't sure of the style, and Hampton Bay division of Home Depot told me to go online to find it-which I did. If anyone was seated at the table, potentially, they would receive many cuts and imbedded glass.

Just today, June 29th, my fiance and I were cleaning up after a party we had the night before. A slight wind had blown and the umbrella of our Hampton Bay table on our patio blew very little. The next thing you know, our table had been shattered to pieces all over our deck. There was absolutely no reason this should have happened! We were very lucky not to have anyone sitting at the table when this happened. It could have been very dangerous. Very dissapointed in the quality of this table top.
The patio set we bought was over $700, and now we have no where to eat on our deck.

I bought a Hampton Bay patio furniture set from Home Depot in June 2006. Last week, my son (who weighs 33 pounds) leaned on the table, and it shattered into a million pieces. He cut his head and his foot (he also got VERY freaked out). After looking up the company on the web, I find that these tables shatter ALL the time, and yet there has been no recall? I was lucky he wasn't more severely hurt. I have pictures of the gash on his head as well as of the shattered table.
The table is ruined.

I to purchased a U-shaped bar with 4 bar chairs from Home Depot online site two years ago. This will be the second year of use, we live in Minnesota, so it does not get a lot of use. Last week the explosion of glass happen just as my grandchild were going in the house. I was the only one close enough to get a few minor cuts. We two had millions of pieces of glass to clean up. We are praying that none are in the vinyl lined in-ground pool.
It took my husband and I working hours to clean up the dangerous mess of sweeping, shoveling, vaccuming, and we are still finding several pieces a day. I went on-line and to search for a replacement top and the first thing that popped was this site. I also have four of the bar chairs as well the matching glider purchased in the store. I no longer want any of it at all as I am afraid to use any of it.

I purchased a 7-pc Folian Dining Set from Home Depot at the end of summer 2007. I left the set in the box until this summer. I went to take out the table yesterday only to find it crack line in a spiderweb form and the frame appeared twisted. As,I open the box all the way the table made a pop and the glass shattered. I contact the company and they can not replace it because it is hard to see on my faded receipt - I had lefted attached to the box in the garage for the pass 10 months. Now I have 7 chairs and no table. I guess it was a blessing it shatterd before I place it out for our guest.
Fortuately, I only received a scratch from trying to forced the flap of the box close to keep it from popping towards my face. I think it is horrible after this incidence I research the product only to find out this has accordded with others. Why did the company not place a recall on the glass table. Someone could have seriously been hurt.

We purchased a 7-piece dining set and matching love-seat, 2-chair, table combo at Home Depot on 5/25/08. Less than 1-week later my wife came home to find the table top shattered into a million pieces. I was shocked to find so many identical stories on this web site. Like so many others we have small children that could have been injured. Like the other listings this was a dark-tined glass. And like so many others we've contacted Home Depot and who promised to look into the mater and return our call.
To this date we've heard nothing from the manager we talked to. I suspect we'll be victimized like the rest of you as well! Take some responsibility Home Depot and recall this junk! The manufacturer is clearly at fault. Do the right thing.

My brother and I both purchased a Hampton Bay patio table and chair set at Home Depot in June 2007 at a collective cost in excess of $1200. The set included a glass top, rectangular table and six chairs. The glass top table from my set spontaneously exploded on June 16, 2008. Sounds like my brother and his family having a ticking time bomb on there hands. The irony of the situation is that, at least in my case, the Hampton Bay set was purchased to replace a Martha Stewart patio set, which also included a glass table that spontaneously exploded.
Fortunately no one was injured. However I have a useless patio set.

Just yesterday for no apparent reason the tabletop just shattered into a million, no exaggeration. We are quite upset of this as the set in perfect except for the glass table top shattering. THANK GOD we weren't having dinner at the time, because someone would have gooten hurt. Something needs to be done about this.
We no longer have a patio table and can not afford a new set. Also, it took myhusband and I 4 hrs. to clean everything up. I am still afraid that there are pieces still there.

In Aug of 2007 we purchased a Hampton Bay 4 piece patio bar set from Home Depot. We kept the set in the garage over the winter months so that we could still enjoy our great purchase. One night as I climbed up into one of the tall swivel chairs it just gave and I fell onto the concrete floor. All of the welds holding the chair together had busted. We didn't think much about it at the time. We thought maybe we had misused it or something along that line. But, last night we hosted a large cookout with lots of friends and, yes you probably guessed it, as one of our friends went to sit on one of the other tall swivel chairs it collapsed under her. All of the welds busted. We have one chair left that no one wants to sit in and end up embarrased or injured. What a waste of money. Really.
A couple of bruised on a couple of people luckily nothing serious like someone stabbed through the back by the jagged metal left behind when the chair snaps off. The chairs seem almost irreplacable but after reviewing the list of complaints I don't believe that we will even attempt to replace any of the set. We will cut our monetary loss on this but we will not purchase another Hampton Bay product.

Add another exploding glass table to this list of Hampton Bay clients. For no reason this glass table shattered on our back deck. We purchased this Hampton Bay set with the table, 6 chairs and 2 lounge chairs 3 summers ago and last week the shattered.
To replace this glass piece would deem too expensive compared to a new set.

While we were sitting in the living room on a warm June day, the glass table we had on the back porch exploded. This explosion sent glass shards everywhere. This table was purchased approximately 3 years ago at Home Depot. and was a Hampton Bay item.
Because of this we were forced to purchase a wet/dry vac to clean the glass from the yard to avoid injury to our two dogs and three children. This also involved two hours worth of labor cleaning the mess, some of which included belly crawling under the deck and injury to arms and hands from the shards. Also the table had to be replaced with one that did not include a glass top.

Last May I bought the 7-piece Sydney Patio Table set. Last week, about a year after I purchased it and one week after I was finished paying for it(!), we were sitting on our patio and all of a sudden we saw and heard the glass table top explode into a million little square pieces! That was a very big mess to clean up and there is still glass dust all over the patio. We are currently using a piece of plywood as a table top that was ironically purchased at Home Depot where we bought our patio dining set.
A replacement piece of plexiglass or acrylic will cost $200-$300. Don't know whether to get a new table or replace the glass. What a rip off that Home Depot doesn't cover this. I just spent $1200 on a matching table and conversation set and now the dining table is useless. I would like to be a part of any class action lawsuit against JRA or Hampton Bay. Very upsetting experience.
