What is InCharge Debt Solutions?
Headquartered in Florida, InCharge Debt Solutions offers counseling and debt management services nationwide. After using its free credit counseling services, many customers may want to enroll in its DMP to pay off all of their unsecured debts.
Along with low-cost services, InCharge Debt Solutions offers a variety of free resources and tools to help clients better understand and manage their finances, including e-books, debt calculators and courses.
It also has a long-standing commitment to serving military families and providing them with free resources, such as financial help books. The specialized financial services for military-connected individuals and families cover their unique needs, including frequent relocations, deployment and more.
How does InCharge Debt Solutions work?
Working with InCharge Debt Solutions begins with a free 30-minute free credit counseling session, during which a certified credit counselor will review your financial situation and provide personalized advice on how to manage debt and improve your credit score.
If you decide to enroll in a DMP, InCharge Debt Solutions will work with your creditors to negotiate lower interest rates and monthly payments. It says the average interest rate secured in a DMP is 8.4%, which can be up to 20% less than your current credit card rates.
Throughout the DMP, you’ll make a single monthly payment to InCharge Debt Solutions, which distributes the funds to your creditors on your behalf. Most clients will become debt-free within three to five years if they stay with the program.

How much does InCharge Debt Solutions cost?
Like all other debt management companies, InCharge Debt Solutions’ DMP costs are set and regulated by the state you live in. It says the average cost for a DMP is a monthly fee of $33 after a one-time setup fee of $75. Depending on your area, these costs might be lower.
The online Department of Housing and Urban Development-approved homebuyer course, called HomeTrek, is $99. Other services might have flat-rate fees, as well.
InCharge Debt Solutions FAQ
Can I cancel my InCharge Debt Solutions program?
Yes. You can cancel at any time or drop out of the DMP. However, when you leave this program, you will also leave the benefits InCharge Debt Solutions set up for you in order to pay off your debt faster, such as waived late fees and lower interest rates.
Will using InCharge Debt Solutions hurt my credit score?
Using InCharge Debt Solutions may initially have a small negative impact on your credit score, but over time, it can actually help improve your credit score by helping you pay off your debt and establish a positive payment history. Unlike debt settlement/relief programs, a debt management plan keeps you in good standing with creditors, and you repay all of your debt.
How is a debt management plan different from debt consolidation?
A DMP is not a loan, and it does not reduce your overall debt load. Debt consolidation typically allows you to roll all of your debts into one loan to make it convenient to repay.
What are the cons of a DMP?
A DMP will help you get out of debt, but it will not be a fast process. It can take up to five years, depending on how much eligible debt you have. Additionally, you will have to stop using credit cards, and if you miss a payment, you could be removed from your DMP.
Is InCharge Debt Solutions legit?
InCharge Debt Solutions is a legitimate nonprofit organization that is accredited by the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC) and the Council on Accreditation (COA). It says it has helped over 3 million people pay off $3 billion worth of debt. The company also says it has a 96% satisfaction rate with its customers and has given away 10,000 free debt help books.
