What didn't I move? I had changed address, started receiving late fees. There was no statement. I tried to call. I was told the card was cancelled. This was after I was called again about my other card, that payments were due, that they had decreased my credit limit which would be in effect immediately. So now my limit was lower than what I owed. Now I had more late charges for being over the limit!

This account was paid in full in April 2008 well before the due date. I received a collection notice on 12/26/08 for $266.77 regarding this account. The best information I have been able to obtain, after multiple calls, is that there was a late fee charged in April. From then, interest charges and additional fees have been assessed. HSBC never sent me a statement after the account had been fully paid and no contact of any kind was made. Now this also appears on my credit report! My credit rating went from Outstanding to Weak! I have spent hours on the phone and the internet trying to obtain a statement from HSBC that shows I owe any payment. A letter of dispute has been submitted to the collections agency and I have disputed the negative marks against my credit. So far, I have invested over 18 hours trying to resolve this issue.

I got a call from HSBC Card Services and the guy I dealt with was horrible. I have been unemployed and unable to make payments to my card. He told me my mom should refinance their house, disconnect our cell phone and internet to pay for my credit and told me that there should be jobs in the area (as if I have not been looking). This guy treated me so bad that I started crying.

We got an HSBC credit card under fee waiver program which expired in early 2008. HSBC sent a new credit card, which was not under the Annual fee waiver program, without even asking us. In June, I called them up and asked them to cancel the new card which I never used. They said they will cancel the card and waive the annual charges which they have not done. Now they are saying the card is in closed state but has an outstanding balance of 11,000. The height of irony is that no one in HSBC was ready to own this issue when I called them up to find out the break-up of this amount but were quite religious in following up with us for paying the outstanding balance of 11,000.
Pune Customer Service operator asked me to call Chennai office where they conveniently told me that as the card is closed, they won't be able to help me and i need to call back the Pune customer office. With great difficulty when I got through the operator in Pune office, I was asked to call up Mumbai numbers and from there the collection unit and some agency.

I have always had a great credit score, never in my life been turned down for a credit card or new car or anything for that matter. But I made the mistake of underestimating the speed of the US mail. This made my payment to HSBC TWO DAYS LATE; yes, TWO DAYS. And after being a very reliable customer for many years they had the nerve to raise my interest rate from 6.9% to 30.90% (yes, 30.90%). I am a recently divorced 55-year-old lady who works full time to make ends meet. Well this will really mess up my budget. I will not be able to buy anything extra and may have to stop taking some of my medications because of this.
What I plan to do is transfer my balance to Discover with a 0% intro offer and pay the damn thing off as fast as possible. If I have to suffer without my allergy medicine and other meds, the money I spend will not be going into the pockets of HSBC. You can take that to the bank!!!!!! They will not take another dime from me. If you are thinking of opening an account with these people think twice. You will just be another number that they will screw as soon as they get the chance!!!!!!!!
Damage resulting is that I may have to stop meds in order to pay bills. I will get behind in all bills if I can't get a new card company to let me transfer my balance. I have never been late, never gone past my limit and have always paid in full all high balances. But because they know everyone is in difficulty now, they are taking advantage. Not far. It's as if they want to destroy my good credit. One of the things they had to offer me was to talk to the collections dept. and that would kill my credit. What are they thinking? What they are doing is un-American.

I got a credit card from HSBC Bank. The number is **. I never used this card for single time also. But unfortunately from the very first month I'm getting some bill in my credit card. I called customer care presenting the same problem before them. They told me it is a TATA AIG INSURANCE added to my account (about which I was just unaware of). So one of them told me all the credits that are in my credit card will be cancelled, and gave me a complaint number. The complaint number is **. But nothing cancelled during this period - called customer care many times but no solutions I got. I don't have any necessity to have your credit card. Just I wanted have a relationship with HSBC, which is global giant. But my experience is really bad during this period. I will never want to have any transaction with HSBC. Above all the poor customer care which I saw in HSBC it is really shameful for a Big bank like HSBC.

After being a good customer for well over five years, I recently discovered they raised my APR to 29.9% from 17.9!! I called and found out that I had 'missed' a payment which I clearly remember making for that billing period. I tried to find any transaction on my bank records for that amount, to no avail. I firmly believed they didn't process my payment so they could jack me. I called their customer service line and after trying to decipher what the rep. with limited English speaking skills said, I ascertained that they had some website issues during that time. Well, I am pretty sure my payment made it through the online process to the point I received confirmation and a conf. #. But they still stuck me with a late fee and a whopping new interest rate. Very, Very deceitful business practices. BEWARE!

I paid off the balance on the card on 8/20/2008. The account was updated to reflect a zero balance, with a credit of $24.99 from Victoria Secret. The following month I received a bill indicating the check was returned. A fee of $35 was charged. My account has 100 times the amount of the check. I called up the bank and I was told that check number 105 was never presented. I then got in touch with HSBC. A supervisor told me to fax in two months copies of my Bank statement. I went into the bank branch requested the information and had them faxed it directly from the bank to MCU. Once again at the branch I was told check number 105 was never presented.
After receiving my information and realizing that the account had sufficient funds the $35 dollar charge was dropped. The supervisor that I had spoken to initially never called to informed me that he had received the information. Initially he had given me his name and ID number. However, when I called the follow up on the status of the fax, I was told that they were unable to locate that representative. Apparently he had given me the wrong ID number. I have been charged finance charge for the month of September which 1 thing is unfair since I paid off the bill in full in 8/08. I called in several times to find out the status of check 105 and no one seems to have an answer but to respond that the check was returned from the bank. This is impossible since I've written checks to other places and never encountered that problem.

I opened my account with HSBC Card Services with 0% on balance transfer for up to 12 months. I availed the balance transfer incentive and setup recurring monthly payments of certain amount in my Bank of America Checking Account. Suddenly, in April, I was told that my account is not current and that my payment was overdue while my account showed that the check was dispatched on time and delivered by the 8th calendar day of every month when the payment was due on the 13th calendar month. The Bank of America accurately shows me complete status of the monthly check dispatch and delivery and when the payment was made for each of my credit card and utility bills. I have never had any late payment issue with my recurring payments set up through Bank of America.
I understand that I am liable for timely payments. However, I can only send them a check and ensure that it got delivered on time. I cannot process the check for HSBC to ensure that they have their cash in their account on time. HSBC started charging me 15% interest on my account balance. After several phone calls and faxes when I was able to prove that the check was delivered on time, they sent me a letter claiming to have reverted my account to 0% balance transfer plan.
Within 3 months, I got a notification again for a similar issue and I had to go through the same vicious circle again. However, this time they claimed that even though the check was delivered on the 8th calendar day, they did not receive the payment till the 18th calendar day. My account shows that the payment amount was deducted from my Bank of America checking account on the 8th calendar day. The bank again started charging me interest on the account balance.
HSBC does everything possible to put the customers in a spot so that they could charge a fee by hook or crook. I couldn't have been more timely in my monthly payments. As I understand from my experience in the financial services industry, once the check is delivered, the account is concerned to be current as long as the bank gets its payment through ACH process. But I am hearing otherwise from HSBC. I have never had such experience with American Express, Citibank, or with Discover. All my payments have been made to them exactly on due dates and there have never been any issues. However, HSBC seems like a different animal that needs some reigning. No wonder, we are in such a mess with our economy.

Rewards points disappeared. Some balance from nowhere about 21K showed up as my interest multiplier. My limit is nowhere near that. I just finally caught it (must have happened at merger time). I get non-stop calls to pay my bill since they overcharged me 200+ a month on bogus fees. My interest rate has been increased to 27.99%... ** highway robbery. I have had DMB for 10+ years and never had this sort of treatment. The extra 200+ that one month pushed me over the limit on debt, and now I am paying for it every week...

After having a credit card from HSBC for two years, never missing the payments and using it for books and necessary travel connected with my twins college education, I wrote down in my bill book (which I keep with me and pay on time religiously) that the card was due on the 15th instead of the 5th.
HSBC claimed I was two days late three months before that when I used my HSBC bank account to pay the credit card. The payment went out as a check and apparently got to the payment place two days after due. HSBC put my interest rate up to 31% interest. I called and wrote to them about the circumstances and told them to check about how I had paid perfectly and due to one clerical error....verry sorry, said the voices from far far away...we cannot help you. I was told that in five months the interest could be reduced.
Later, another customer service person told me that they did not have to reduce the interest in five months but that they would look at it. I am now, with twins in college and a large mortgage, paying a FINANCE CHARGE OF $312 AND A MINIMUM OF $129 IN ADDITION! For a clerical error! I tried to move the credit card to another account but now my credit report says...high limits and I cannot get another card. During all of this I have been in child support court trying to get the ex insignificant (wealthy) other to re imburse me for some of the college payments which will wipe off this credit card....Just doesn't seem legal and doesn't seem right!
I have had to borrow from my credit union this Summer and this week borrowed from my retirement until I get the child support hearing settled...the ex--an attorney , is blocking the hearing in every way so that he doesn't have to pay. We almost couldn't pay the mortgage this month (Sept l) but because I had to take a retirement loan, we will be ok....but will be paying $200 a month for the next 5 years.

Due to a military deployment and divorce, my credit accounts fell behind 3 months. In an attempt to quickly resolve the situation, I entered into a 3rd party debt management program. HSBC accepted the payment proposal sent to them and have been receiving payments for 3 months via the 3rd party debt management program.
However, in the last week, HSBC began calling me repeatedly. In the last 7 days, they have called 132 times. Calls begin at 600am and go until 1000pm each day, 7 days a week. I have sent them written correspondence asking them to stop calling, but they refuse. I have called them asking them to stop; they refuse. They call my home, my cell, my office... it's ridiculous, unwarranted, and against the law. I owe HSBC a total of $1500, so it's not like this is a mortgage in default... it's an unsecured credit card. If they need to contact me, that's fine, but harassment is not acceptable.
Furthermore, when I answer the phone, no one is there. No voicemails, no person to speak to, basically just crank calls. Why would an organization bound by debt collection laws, violate them so flagrantly?

That for last 6 months, I am trying to contact HSBC authorities through 24 hr customer services / info / bucket manager at branch/ collection agent/ tele-collection dept. at Mumbai. But nobody is bothered / capable to sought out the case. A Case in which ,I am after the HSBC people to give me a full & final settlement letter & collect the the amount in one shot from me. It is clearly non-responsive attitude by the system, intentional delays, wrong commitments, intentional extra extraction of money . In all , it is unbearable.
Every month ,my credit card statement shows a raise in my outstannding amount. and ther is no solution to the problem. from 36000/- in Jan'08 it is now 44000/-. And still mounting every month.

I had a letter from my X employers of my termination and sent all that plus my last check stub from employment. It took them several copies of the same thing for 4 months, in the process my account was charged repeatably for late and over limit fees because they dragged thier feet.
This insurance company is owned by HSBC. Well from there i neeed to be reinstated as of 6-30-08 and had to send same copies plus all my unemployment check stubs. 21.00 every time to send all these copies. The last time was 7-7-2008 and another 21.00 and now here it is 7-25.08 and all that information plus my unemployment check stubs from the beginning to today. Another 21.00! I am on unemployment, trying to make my house and utility payments and there is no food in this house. Not to mention the constant calling and harrasment on getting the account over the limit balance paid. 20 or more calls a day.

My husband and I purchased a lap top from CompUSA only to find out a month later that they were going out of business. I decided to pay my bill on-line and automatically put me on an electronic monthly billing system. We paid a huge lump sum of a $1,000 and did not receive any bills from them.
A couple of months later I called the 800 number and asked why we haven't received a bill from them. We were told that since we made such a huge payment, that they were not billing us and that there is no minimum amount due at the time. This month, we received a letter saying that they had not received a payment from us and that we have a late fee. They also said that they had sent my bills on a monthly basis. I did check my email to make sure that this was true. After setting up an electronic billing, CompUSA only sent us a bill for March.
Apparently, CompUSA turned over the finances to HSBC. HSBC did not send us any electronic bill for the months of April, May & June. End of June, they sent us an electronic bill stating that they did not receive a payment from us for the month of June. They applied a late fee to the July statement and on top of that, they applied over $150 deferred finance to our account.
I called customer service and asked to be forgiven for them not notifying us on a timely manner. They did not honor my request even though they were in the wrong for not even sending us a written notice to let us know that they were taking over CompUSA accounts. I was unaware of this transition, and would've appreciated at least any kind of notice. They also said that I never returned their calls, we never even received any calls from them, no messages, nothing!
I've had business with them in the past through Gottchalks and was never late on my payments, we currently have one with them also through Direct Merchant, never late, and now CompUSA, was never late on that one!!! I am really sorry that HSBC decided not to work with me on resolving this, even with the facts of error on their part and not even taking care of me as a loyal customer. My husband and I will never open any finances with HSBC. I am disgusted at how their customer service and their management disregards any mistakes that have happened on their part, and not even making the necessary steps to correct and work with their customers, especially those that always made payments in timely manner. HSBC lost a great customer, and earned a great advocate to friends and family to read complaints concerning HSBC.

I called back and talked to someone higher up and was told they would waive some of the fees if i made a payment of 60.00 which i did and authorize another payment of 150.00 on the 17th from my bank account.I now get a statement in the mail for 202.00 due now its only the 5th,i find it funny how i have no problem getting their mail.I think this is a direct result of them doing this to extort all the extra money they can get and was told that my credit would be repaired after i am caught up.I feel that all this is through no fault of my own.I'm about ready to have a breakdown.I dont know where to turn for help or what to do..

I had a store charge card from Younkers which, in the last year or so changed to HSBC. I obtained my Younkers charge with only $100 total limit. In less than a year I missed one payment which was 30 days overdue. In the meantime they had been calling me while I was not home and refusing to identify themselves to the other people I live with when asked which is a direct violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act which, when explicitly asked, requires the individual calling to identify the entity they represent. Each time my roommates were told That's a private business matter by a rude individual. *69 and a back trace via Google found the number belonging to HSBC.
After I complained to a supervisor with HSBC of her company's violations of federal law, my account apparently got can canceled which was detrimental to my credit as I was attempting to rebuild it on my own.

One of the problems I had with this credit card company is that this bank schedules their due date on a weekend day (Saturday or Sunday) and posts their payments on the following weekday. Example for June of 2008 their due date was June 1st a Sunday. I made my payment on the 31st of May one day earlier. They posted their payment on June 2nd and because they posted the payment the day after the due date they charged me a late fee of $15.00 dollars. I feel this is unethical. I called customer service and they were very rude to me. At this point I had been a Boscovs customer for over 10 years and never had an issue till they started doing business with this bank.

I received my statement from HSBC bank and it said I did not pay my last payment and I was hit with a late fee of $39.00. I called and spoke with Jessica and she stated that no payment shows on the account. I told her according to my bank records HSBC cashed the check of $130.00 on 6/6/08 and I gave her the confirmation number from my bank. I also stated this is not the first time that HSBC has tried to pull this with me. I told her this keeps happening every few months where they say they did not get the payment or they say they receive it late and try to jack up my interest rate and hit me with late fees and I have to constantly prove that it was paid on time.
Jessica stated that I have to get a copy of the check and send it to her to prove that it was paid. I asked her where the cashed check is and Jessica stated that if the account number can not be read on the check then it goes into an anonymous account until the customer notifies us. I stated my name and address are on the check along with the account number this is nonsense, I said to her you take my money and do not credit the account just so you can hit me with additional charges. Jessica stated there is nothing that she can do to send a copy of the cashed check and said have a nice day and ended the call.
This is not the first time that HSBC has done this to my family. There false claim of non payments or late payments has lowered my fico score and making it looks like I am not paying my bills on time. In addition, I have to pay my bank to get copies of the cashed check to HSBC every time they do this.

I called 3 diferent times, spoke to managers, they reveresed the charge but continues charging new interest each month. They claim the 0% rate doesn't exist.
I just got off the phone with a lady in the Phillipines (was on hold for a long time) which got me nowhere. She is trying to get me to sign up for some other junk instead of reversing the charges. this company's practices are very questionable. I have never dealt with a credit card company that pulls these kind of stunts.
Aside from the time it takes to stay on hold, it's annoying to explain the situation over and over again to different people, without any result. i could just pay the balance, close my account, never shop at Best Buy, never own a HSBC credit card. Upon coming home I called the credit card company to ask why my card was declined. At that time I was notified that all my cards with that institution had the credit limits reduced to anywhere from $20 to $60 above the existing balance reducing my available credit by some $2,500. I had received no notice that this would take place as of the date I called the reduction had been place for some 5 days. As it stands now when they compound interest I will be over my credit limit and will incur charges for being over the limit.
Additional charges, as I sent as much as I could to them I am left with no money for food, gas, etc. And cannot even properly do my job. I have laid awake wondering what to do and no suffer from being overtired and other stress related symtoms.

I am a gold credit card holder of HSBC for the last seven months. I had very bad experience with HSBC customer care and service provided by them. 1. No transaction updating. 2. When I spoke to customer care, no satisfactory answer, just said we are updating now and you'll get informed of every transaction in the future but case remains same. 3. Finance charges without any specific reason. If any inquiry to customer care regarding finance charges then they only answer that you must have to pay. I asked to talk to any senior person and then they put me on hold for 30 mins waiting and in the end the call cuts out. These are some bad experience with HSBC credit customer care. If HSBC can't provide good service then I think there is no use for customer care in HSBC. I think there is no supervision on customer care in HSBC.

In May, 2007, I received a post card notice that the Annual % Rates and Periodic Rates on my HSBC Gold Mastercard would be increased on a billing cycle after July 1, 2007. The APRs went from already high Rates of 26.74% for Cash Advances and 22.74% for Purchases to 29.99% for both, a 3% increase for one and a 7% increase for the other! I do admit to having my balance on the card near my credit limit, especially since I put an $850 car repair on it. But I was making my payments on time, even if I had to make it by phone. There may (may) have been one that did arrive on the date due, but after their closing time of posting for that date. However, it took them 3 months in Nov.& Dec.2006 and Jan.2007 to enter my change of address, even once getting the number as 3919 and not the correct 3519.
I did talk with Customer Care Specialist Kaliani(?)in India(?) on May 31, 2007, regarding the increase. She transferred me to a Supervisor who gave the same words that were on the postcard. On June 12, 2007, I received a letter dated June 2, 2007, from the HSBC Credit Card Credit Dept, PO Box 81622, Salinas, CA 93912 decision based on: Recently past due with us and Amount of payment to Total payment due. My monthly payments have always been the minimim, perhaps two times, and usually 10-50 dollars more.
All this being said, I'm wondering what ever happened to the usury laws, at one time anything above 8%! 12-18% would seem to be the range the companies could make sufficient profits, without playing that Average Daily Balance game and the exorbidant late and over limit fees with their cardholders.
Hopefully, Senator Levin and the other members of Congress looking into this will rein in the Credit Card Companies.
These high monthly payments are making it harder and harder to make ends meet. Bringing the rates to a more sane %age would go a long way in getting this and other cards paid down and paid off.

I have this credit card for a year. Last year I paid my total balance and a hold was placed on my account. I called the company and asked why and was told that the payment was being processed and it could take 10-14 days before the hold would be released. I paid my balance in full again and once again a hold was placed on my account. My bank has processed the payment and when I call the company I get the run around. According to the company's web site a payment made on a Friday will be posted by Saturday. I made the payment on 2/1/2008 and still there is a hold on my account. When I called the company this morning the automative voice service stated that a payment had been received but still there is a hold. There is no reason for the hold other than to try to rack up finance charges. I could not use my card so I was unable to rent a car for a trip I was taking and was forced to cancel my trip. I have also paid $59.00 annual fee which I am out since I have closed my account with this company. I am very concerned with what this company may report credit agency.

I received a Platinum Pre-Qualified/Pre-screened credit card offer from Mastercard Requesting me to goto http://www.acceptourcard.com/mc which forwards you to a site giving you information stating it is from HSBC. When you finish filling the blanks to accept their card. First note the part where it said, PRE-SCREENED & PRE-AUTHORIZED with the fake printed signature of a man named STEVE BALLARD whom is to be MANAGER OF NEW ACCOUNTS. I finished the form and it came back with, You have been rejected for credit. It asked if I wanted to Print a Copy of the denial notice. Why send me this if it was denied? While reading the back side with the Fine Letters It states; OFFER IS VOID IN WI AND U.S. TERRITORIES. Why do people put up with this from HSBC or even do business with them?

I have an active credit card account with HHBC. I am on time, all the time, with my payments because I have a set up through my bank for an automatic payment every month. Well, Household Bank charged my account three days earlier than usual and then charged me a late fee--and then an over the limit fee--which escalated to over a hundred dollars. I made several attempts to call the 800 number given to me and every time was disconnected for some reason or other. So I e-mailed customer service my complaint and was sent back an automated e-mail that said I agreed to pay any late fees and extra charges!
Yes I did agree to this, but I wanted the credit card to build my credit not ruin it! And now I had to pay over a hundred dollars to keep my credit in good standing, and I should not have even been charged a dime! I cannot get hold of any one at HHBC to clear up this matter and to get reimbursed my money!

I opened an account in August of 2007. I made two transfer payments upon receiving the card. Late September I went on-line to view my account as I had not received the initial bill. The account showed that I had a required payment of $26.00 due by 9/19. I had not received this bill and therefore was assessed a $39.00 late fee. I called this account to get the fee credited as I still had not received a bill by 9/26/00. They refused to waive the fee saying that my claim should be addressed to the US Post Office. Therefore, I cancelled the account, paid my balance ($1570.70) less the $39.00 late fee I refuse to pay. They now charged me $30.00 per month for not paying a charge they gave me without ever billing me. In addition they call my home 3-4 times per week for payment.

I have been a Gold Card holder since 2003 with HSBC. I have never been late on a payment, never gone over the limit, have paid my account in full several times with balances in the thousands, and always pay far more than the minimum payment. I just received a notice of change of terms that my account is closed for future purchases and my 14.99% interest rate for my prior balance will jump to 27.24% on Feb. 11, 2008. The reason stated is due to a statement from Equfax Credit, Inc. but no specific reason is given. I have had a reduced credit score from 647 to 633 in the last 3 months. I receive a report every quarter from CreditInform via email, and a hard copy in the mail, which I just received last week, so this information is current.
This is absurd that they have done this to me for absolutely no justifiable reason that I can see. I have a $3,365.07 balance and that increase in interest is going to kill my chances of ever paying it off. I could understand if they said "future purchases" and gave me an option to opt out, but this is going to be retro-active, and my ability to make future puchases have been closed. Can they do this?
I will be financially devestated, especially if my other 4 credit cards follow suit. I am $15,000 in credit card debt, never been late on the cards I hold now, and while they are all maxed out because of a recent business I began in June 07, I have never been late, nor over the limit, and almost always pay much more than my minimum amount due.

I mistakenly accepted an Orchard Bank credit card from HSBC card services. The gave me a $300 limit to assist in reestablishing my credit. Well they are ruining my credit and that is without me even getting a real chance to use it.
They charged me for credit card protection fees that I did not want. Then continously charge me over the limit fees. I had to call two different numbers to cancel the card protection services and then had to argue with them about the over the limit fee. No matter how much of a payment I make I almost never get to use the card because they are always adding fees.
As of this writing I made a $50 payment to my account on October 15th. They would not post the amount to my account because they were putting a hold on it because of my MO. A payment I made did not go through August. On October 16th the rep. told me that the payment would have a 12-14 day hold on it because of my MO (they wanted to make sure that the payment was received by my bank. You can't tell me with today's electronic transfer capabilities that it was going to take 12-14 days). Then I called on October 20th, the rep. said a 6 day hold was placed.

I had a bill due on the 12th of the month. I was a few days late, but paid on the internet. As I was reviewing my statement I saw they charged me $30 late charge on the 12th of the month. I called them concerning this, the said they had no grace period, but I explained to them if there was no grace period my late charge of $30 should have shown on the 13th, not the same day the bill was due. Basically there was nothing they could do quote Its how the system works. I feel this is totally unfair that they are only trying to make money off the consumer.

We had opened a new credit card with Chase (1-800-945-2000), they sent out a check to pay off our Direct Rewards credit card with HSBC card services. This check was cashed on 9-19-06. HSBC said they never recieved that payment from Chase. We contacted Chase to let them know what was going on. They did an investigation, and faxed HSBC on November 2nd showing proof of the pay off. When we called HSBC they stated they did not recieve a fax from Chase. We have now late fees on our HSBC card and are paying on two credit cards.
We are paying late fees because we had thought our HSBC card was paid off, also we have to pay interest on the card because we did not pay when we thought it was paid off. We are paying the same balance on two credit cards now and HSBC won't do an investigation on this or help us what so ever. Everytime we try to call we get cut off. They told us we had to make a payment to them also so it wouldn't affect our credit because they had no proof that Chase had payed them.

I have had a HSBC/GM Card for over 20 years and have never been late with a payment. Most of the time I pay larger than minimum and have paid off the account many times over the last 20 years to a 0 balance. About 10 years ago I transferred my balance from this card to another card of about $10,000. GM called me and told me if I'd transfer it back, they'd give me a lifetime rate of 7.99%. I agreed.
Since that time, I've used my GM card with the 7.99% rate. In October, I received my statement and my rate has gone from 7.99% (my lifetime rate) to 30.24%. When I called, they said they sent a letter to me explaining this change, but I've never been late, always paid more than the minimum AND the 7.99% was my LIFETIME rate, as given to me over 10 years ago.
The 30.24% rate took my interest payment from $100/month to $400/month. I'm a teacher and having an increased payment of $300/month is unreasonable and uncalled for, and I would hope - illegal. I would have to get another job just to make this additional payment each month. I believe HSBC-GM Card is preying on the middle class who pay bills on time, causing us undue stress and financial harship. Where is the justification for this additional 22% interest? I'd be better off going to a loan shark, than HBSC.
