Citi may be the worst bank I have ever dealt with. I tried to talk to a real person but was told Id have to wait 25 min. I opted for a callback and 4 hrs. later I am still waiting. I called Chase and they put me thru to a person in under 4 min. I'm sure they fired most of their reps thinking AI would take care of it. Nope.

Citi bank is honestly a terrible bank. Those customer service representatives that you call on the phone when you don’t wanna go into a branch are literally the most useless people living. They be having no answers for you and we’ll sit there and send you to the most randomness department hoping that they’ll have answers for you. Even the damn supervisors are useless as hell. I hate this bank so much. They literally know how to boil my blood, things are simple as transaction issues can’t even be solved or figured out with this bank because all of them are clueless and can’t do their job. And when you point out that they are not doing their job or you’re going against what they’re recommending because you know what’s wrong all they’ll do is hang up the phone on you. No type of decorum no type of professionalism and no type of respect. Who the hell is hiring these people to be customer service?

Buyer Beware. If I could rate this card a zero I would. I used DriveCard issued by Citibank to pay for car repairs that turned out to be defective and negligent work. When the merchant refused to fix their mistakes I turned to this credit card company for help filing a quality of service dispute. Instead of protecting me, their claims department completely dismissed my evidence and refused to help. I advice stay away from this card. They do not back up their customers when merchants take advantage of them. They also are in violation of federal consumer protection standards.

Citi is trash! They really need to be sued again. I have had their Costco card for 4 years now. It had a 12000 limit. I have a Diamond preferred card with a 8000 limit. The costco card was used to a balance of 10,500 with a minimum payment of 300, never was the minimum made. It is always 500 to 700 a month! The Diamond card has only been used once for 700 and it is at 400 after the first month of payments, which will be paid off this month! Citi took it upon themselves to drop my limit on my Costco to 10700 and my Diamond to 630 a decrease of 9200 plummeting my credit score 35 points. I don't know why they chose to do this but it's garbage. I will continue to pay them off and never use their card again! Very bad business model and I see for my own eyes now why their ratings suck!

This company lacks in customer service. With the financial strains that every day hard working lower income people deal with, Citibank USA won't waive a $29 fee for a mistake that was made on the application. The application somehow had a bank account attached to it that had been closed for the better of a year. Several payments had been made from a primary bank account also attached to the application several years before this account was ever added and monthly payments thereafter. Nothing says "poor customer service" more than a company not being able to waive this $29 fee. I think it is very telling from this complaint how much Citibank values their customers and the customer service that they provide for them.

Worst credit card company ever. I have been with them quite awhile. I've always had card balances and then paid them. Up and down like a roller coaster. Now, when I pay they keep lowering my limit so that my credit score goes up faster due to percentage usage, than it goes down for making payments. Bunch of crap. Closing all my accounts.

My bills for Citibank are autopay from my own bank on time monthly for my balance transfer. Citibank attempted to debit thousands from my account without authorization resulting in OD fees at my bank and my stop payment fee. It took multiple calls and hours of my time to reach a human and one that communicates well in English. Beyond frustrated.

This Citibank service and representatives are terrible--- gone downhill. If you have to do online bank transfers to your acct. It helps to realize if your acct show posted -- it isn't accurate -- if it says Bal. Available it isn't accurate. It takes hours - to get past the Bank robot to speak with a supervisor. Then they tell you have put holds on your money --- that doesn't show up --- unless there is a payment default. Here's a supervisor's secret -- when stuck in a loop w/ BOT try #00. To get a cust. Rep. --- saying Cust. Rep. will not work. Frankly -- if not for Costco cc and Auto pay utilities --- this would have been closed long ago. For most 15 of 20+ yrs. I went into office. We're out of state --- Take your money out of Citi Bank, they don't really want customers --- that why they treat them badly. Chase/W.F. seem to want to do Cust. Service.

Citibank refused to investigate fraud on an older adults account. They do not protect older adults finances from exploitation or fraud. Citibank should not be able to have banking services in our country.

I was forced into a Citibank account because AAdvantage moved my credit card there. They couldn't set up a website for me to log onto for way too long. When I was able to log in it was after the payment due date. I paid off the balance immediately but then was charged interest for some reason. I immediately canceled my account. I was never able to talk to a real person. I have always paid my entire balance every month and have never paid interest on this (or any) credit card. This is especially annoying cause they charge $100 per year to have the card. I am going to miss accumulating miles on American Airlines, but it is not worth it. Dealing with this company was just awful.

I had my account closed due to "relationship with the bank while waiting on funds return from Walmart. About 4 months after the incident with Walmart I received a letter that the funds were being replaced into the account that Citibank was closing. I went into my local branch to withdraw the funds and they were unable to give me the money. A few weeks later when funds arrived in the form of a check I returned to the branch office to be informed that although it was a citibank check they couldn't honor it.

Citi Bank was my favorite credit card company until today. My spouse of 30 years just died. My bank, US Bank froze all my accounts when they were notified of his death, even though all accounts are joint. My payment to Citibank was returned. I made 2 additional payments since then for a total of $2000. Today’s payment of $1000 was placed on hold for 7 days. My account is not over the credit limit but my Citicard denies all charges until the hold is removed. Was at a store today and had to cancel transaction. How embarrassing. I called Citibank and they explained why as the reasons stated above. I explained that I was a customer for almost 50 years and never a payment missed. They explained that there was nothing they could do to help me. My loyalty and excellent meant nothing. They would treat there worse customer the same as me. How shameful.
Citibank has lost their ability to give good customer service. They will not help you and give you any credit for being a solid customer. A world without exceptions is no world at all. Citibank has developed its policies and will not put any humanity in their decisions period. Citibank has turned into another company who has lost its ability to benefit the community in which it serves. I feel like I have been labeled a criminal, due to no fault of my own. Citibanks, feet in the sand, approach to helping customers is sickening. I will not recommend Citibank no longer. They are just another company consumed with their bottom line and do not give a damn doing what is right Citibank, I feel so stupid, for give you my trust and loyalty. Shame on me for that and shame on you, for giving me the reason to write this review.

I have been with Citibank for 8 years. But in 2026, they had changed their disputes. They give you credit for fraud from nefarious websites, but then take it back and side with the fraudsters. Something has changed at Citibank; they no longer respect their good-standing customers. It is now all about the money, which makes me think they are a Bank in financial trouble, and without a recovery plan other than taking advantage of their customers. I'm afraid it's time to close up shop and take my business elsewhere.

I was defrauded by a merchant on eBay. eBay denied my claim by relying on false tracking information provided by the seller. So I contacted CitiBank to reverse the credit charges. I received a conditional credit, which was reversed because eBay claimed I received the item. I filed a complaint with the BBB and eBay responded by admitting they erred in relying on the false tracking info. However, eBay claims they can't refund my money because I opened a dispute with CitiBank.
CitiBank refuses to return my money because they say eBay is responsible. CitiBank offered me a portion of the money, but not the full amount. It is next to impossible to contact either company via phone as they have systems in place to stonewall the consumer. CitiBank also threatened to take me to collections if I didn't pay them the amount I was ripped off for. So as it stands, I'm out $262.20 for a product that I not only didn't receive, but that was never even shipped. CitiBank DOES NOT stand behind their customers. Avoid this bank at all costs.

I am very disappointed with my branch on 2215 Rampart Blvd, Las Vegas. In the last 3 weeks I have visited the branch and it never open on time! Today 4/11/26 the bank was open at 10:10, and yesterday was 10:06, and 3 weeks ago was 10:05. The services were terrible and one banker was arguing with me because he wanted to go home early. I have moved my big amount of deposit to chase. I was very pleased with my old banker in San Carlos California. compare with this branch is day and night.

I took advantage of a promotion by Citibank in June, 2025 in which I deposited a sum of new funds into a checking and money market account. My deposit was well above the required minimum. The promotion specifically stated that as long as the minimum was maintained for 45 days, a $750 bonus would be awarded to the account. I waited until Dec. 2025, and no bonus was ever awarded. I then closed both accounts, this after contacting Citibank Customer Service twice by phone and getting no satisfaction and returning to the local branch and being told I withdrew the funds too early.
I received a letter from Citibank Client Services on Jan.6, 2026 stating I had not fulfilled my obligations for Promotion OYPG0WG5UR. I sent them a detailed letter, with attachments, showing I had indeed met the necessary requirements to receive the bonus and to send me a copy of the above promotion. Alas, I was sent the exact, preprinted letter I had previously received in Jan., only this was dated March 23,2026. This is how Citibank resolves its customers disputes, thinking they will just keep sending you preprinted letters and you will forget about the whole ordeal. But I will persist!

RUN. Don't walk, RUN. Only use if you like wasting time on a broken platform and when you get affected are transferred to someone who speaks the most crippled English with an accent so thick you get instantly transported to India. If you have expectations of getting a solution to a simple problem like getting any info about your broken account, please take a day off in advance to deal with an army of incompetent, low energy, depressed foreign workers. Great for educators as you might need to teach them English along the way to fully get your point across.
If you enjoy going through phone loops because you are lonely, this is the place to be, plenty of different accents await you. Please take a moment to be amazed by how low effort their system is and still be publicly traded on the stock market. If you think the 1-800 number is there to help, you will be proven delusional the more time you spend on the call. You might have a better shot at getting peace in the Middle East than dealing with this so called bank.

I’ve had a credit card with Citibank for 3 years with a fixed 9.9% interest rate. I’ve always paid more than the minimum and even paid the balance off twice. My credit limit was $5,000, and I only had about $2,100 on it. In December 2025, they suddenly dropped my credit limit to $2,200, claiming it was due to my debt-to-income ratio—which is simply not accurate. I’ve worked in banking and understand how DTI is calculated, and mine was well within a healthy range. Because of this, I chose to close the account. That’s when things got worse.
The very next month, my minimum payment jumped, and no one at Citibank could give me a clear or correct explanation. Not once did customer service tell me my interest rate had increased. It wasn’t until I pushed further that I was finally told my rate had skyrocketed to 28%—and that it’s “variable.” So let me get this straight: after years of responsible use, they cut my limit, failed to clearly communicate major changes, and then nearly tripled my interest rate after I closed the account?
This feels incredibly deceptive and predatory. Their customer service was unhelpful and inconsistent, and the lack of transparency is unacceptable. I will be filing a formal complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and strongly encourage others who have experienced similar issues with Citibank to do the same. Consumers deserve honesty, clear communication, and fair treatment—not tactics that create unnecessary financial hardship. Do better, Citibank.

I have had nothing but trouble with this company. I’ve gotten wrong information from customer service more than once, then no reparations for the problem they caused. I can’t view my recent transactions online or in my app and every time I call about it their system has not yet been fixed! A huge hassle to deal with!

There's nothing beneficial about having a credit card company reducing your credit line quarterly even though your payments are double the minimum or more, basing that decision on what they cause: "• Your credit report shows your balances on your revolving accounts are too high in relation to those credit lines."

Absolutely the worst customer service experience I have ever had with Citibank. I attempted to make a simple $30 purchase with my credit card and was asked to call in to verify my identity. When I called customer service, I was told that I had failed the verification process, even though I provided all of my correct personal information.
The representative repeatedly insisted that my answers were wrong, which makes absolutely no sense when I was giving them my own, accurate information. I asked if there was any other way to verify my identity, especially since we are leaving to travel in three days, and this card was opened specifically for that purpose.
I was transferred to a supervisor named Adam, who was completely unhelpful. He repeatedly told me that the only way to verify my identity was to wait for a letter in the mail. I explained multiple times that this would not work because we are traveling in three days, but he simply kept repeating the same script. It is beyond frustrating that a bank can tell you that you are not who you say you are, even when you are providing correct information, and then offer no alternative solution. Opening a credit card for travel that you cannot actually use before traveling is completely pointless. Extremely disappointed with Citibank’s lack of flexibility, problem-solving, and customer care.

I called customer service (which has horrible time wasting prompts to get to a human agent) to find out about some transactions in my account. I just used a third part money agent & made foreign transactions and there were additional charges all lumped into the "ACH". There was finally explained to me by the third person I spoke to the ":ACH" and it was clear there was no problem, just how citi "lumps" transactions. Just before this I had been fielded to someone in fraud who was beyond rude, & spoke over me. He did not listen. I was very clear in say I do not want to have my account closed, I'm trying to understand what is happening.
There was a temporary hold nonetheless placed on my account, unbeknownst to me, since I thought it was all resolved. Hold up transactions, blocking me from using my ATM card. They will not give me the agents info or let me make a formal complaint or resolve the problem in a way that actually looks like "service". Thanks again for wasting my time & terrible service. I will go find a credit union & close my account as soon as this is set up. The unapologetic - as in actually providing service without endlessly wasting my time has crossed the line.

The worst customer service possible in credit card business. Do not get any CITI credit cards. They will not serve you at all. I suffer through 5 months when I called them almost every other day and all they did just pass me through a so called "Departments" with no result. In short I made a purchase that was from an impostor on the net. After the purchase I get 10-15 charges from all over the world. I contacted them and let them know. They erase/credit my card but 2 months later one of these charges show again. I called and no result from them.
Eventually I cancel the card without paying the fraudulent charge. They add more on it (fees for late pay, etc) after they report my cc to Equifax and all other cred score company as bad. Of course my credit score went bad. I cancel or not use anymore any of the CITI cards. They lose a lot of business. My weekly charge to Costco and so on. Do not believe all ok, will be ok until you get into the hands of customer service, after....bad news. Stop using CITI cards!

They stated I was trying to deposit a check but it was cash. You barely can communicate with employees. The language barrier and constant transferring to different departments. So they sent a response stating no error, of course not. The employee kept the deposit.
