Alleviate is a good option for individuals drowning in debt. This can mean that the individual has over $10,000 in debt, multiple credit cards at or near the credit limit or is on the brink of declaring bankruptcy. Additionally, if someone has suffered unexpected financial hardship, such as a job loss or medical emergency, using Alleviate can help you get your finances back on track and avoid piling on more debt.

However, if your debt-related issues are related to secured debts, such as car loans or mortgages, or are mandatory debts, like alimony or student loan debt, Alleviate will not be able to help you.

Alleviate services

Alleviate services works with individuals to reduce the debt they owe. After a consultation, you will be given an estimate of how long your process will take.

You will need to stop paying your creditors and instead deposit an agreed-upon amount to a Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation-insured account administered by Debt Pay Gateway. Once you have enough money to settle your first debt, then Alleviate will contact your creditor to negotiate the debt payoff. The whole debt repayment process will vary per individual but typically takes 24 to 48 months.

Alleviate requirements

To qualify, you must have at least $10,000 in unsecured debt or $500 in unsecured debt per creditor.  Additionally, you must prove significant financial hardship, which is done by ceasing payments to your debts. Your credit score may be impacted, and enrolled accounts may become delinquent or go to collections.

You’ll open a dedicated account with a third-party administrator and make monthly deposits. These funds are used to pay negotiated settlements, and negotiations typically begin once enough funds have accumulated.

Alleviate costs

Alleviate doesn't charge for a consultation, and you will not be charged a fee until your debt is settled. Alleviate does not list the percentage fee it charges, stating that fees vary from state to state. Compared to similar debt settlement companies, you can expect to pay a 15% to 25% fee on the amount of debt settled.

      I would RUN from this business. My experience with them was extremely detrimental. During the onboarding process, I was given assurances and expectations that ultimately proved to be inaccurate. Despite making consistent monthly payments in good faith, I did not receive the services or outcomes that were promised.

      As a result, I experienced a significant negative impact on my credit, which declined by over 200 points. Due to these circumstances. It is literally getting to the point that I need a lawyer.

      Based on my experience RUN, RUN, RUN!!!! I encourage others to thoroughly research and carefully evaluate before engaging with them. They are dishonest. They have no knowledge, and if you want to be financially ruined for the rest of your life... then I would say to go ahead and consider them. I have ran businesses and been in real estate for quite some time, and I've never seen as unethical practices as I have within this company.

      Well this is something I have never done and I figured it's better than doing a bankruptcy because I've been through that years ago. Was hoping to get all of debts taken care of but there were a few that were under the $500 limit so I'm keeping those and the extra $900 a month that I'll be saving will pay those off. And hopefully within the next year per year and a half I should be clear of about $14,000 in debt. It might be a little rough the first few 6 months, but I will hang in there and get rid of it this debt once and for all and stay out of debt.

      My experience with Alleviate Financial has been extremely disappointing. I enrolled only one credit card in their program, yet they provided no meaningful assistance. The law firm assigned to my case also failed to take appropriate action. Despite their assurances, they did not prevent legal proceedings, and I was ultimately sued. As a result of their inaction, a judgment was entered against me, and my wages are now being garnished—leaving me owing more than the original debt. Based on my experience, I strongly encourage others to exercise caution when considering this company.
