I was working a full time job and the schedule was pretty much what sold me on to the University of Arizona Global Campus. I had a great experience and the whole lot of it was pretty good. I took up Homeland security and emergency management. The professors were rather knowledgeable, easy to get in contact with and very helpful. The course material was good as well. There were a few courses that communication was a little bit lacking. But for the most part, it was really good.

Enrolling was very simple. Everything was online and it was very well explained. The expectations were very forthright. The learning experience was good and the material was super easy. They were all online and accessible. The professors were all excellent and they were very knowledgeable in their fields. They offered a lot of supplemental materials to go along with the studies for that particular course.
From an online experience, I had way for interaction with my colleagues than when I went in-person for my bachelor's years ago. I highly recommend it to anybody who is thinking about any kind of post-secondary education. But they should stay ahead of the game. Before the courses started, I always read down through the syllabus to try to gain an understanding of what the professor’s expectations were gonna be through the course.

Enrollment at The University of Arizona was easy. However, I was a month away from graduating with my bachelor's and then the accreditation got lost. But then the VA said that they would still cover as long as we were still in class. Besides that, they got the accreditation right back.

I like the ease of working full time and having classes that I can do on my own time. I had a good experience with University of Arizona Global. It was pretty easy to get signed up for everything. It took me a little bit to kind of get a hang of the online library. There was a lot of help as far as the online resources through the university. Some of that, I just learned as I went, and I wish I had known a little bit more about that when I first started. Most of the professors were pretty engaging, asking a lot of questions to each person specifically and starting conversations and debates a little bit. I wish that I had a little more time for each assignment because I had dues on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and because I was working full time, it was sometimes a tight schedule.

Everything was easy and straightforward when I enrolled at University Of Arizona. The experience gets challenging from time to time, especially if you're working, because the program is concise. So sometimes it gets difficult as far as the amount of time that we have to complete the assignment. But other than that, it was all a great experience. The instructors were always on time and answered the questions quickly. I got my bachelor's as of May of last year in Project Management and everything went well. Just take advantage of the opportunities that you have.

I needed to finish school and the University of Arizona was flexible with my schedule. The enrollment was an easy process and the learning experience was okay. The only thing I wish is that there were more tests and that it was more interactive and engaging. But the professors were very communicative. Some seemed like they care, especially when I was going through personal situation and couldn't finish the assignments. I don't appreciate how when it came to graduation time, it was virtual, though. I was assuming that we could send in pictures and that my name will be called but it wasn't. My name was just placed in the program, which was kind of disappointing and embarrassing, especially for all the money I paid to attend.

University of Arizona got a military academic adviser, and they help you through the whole process and send them the transcript. I've taken two classes in my masters. One of the teachers is highly engaged. The other, not so much. For one class, there's a lot of knowledge. For the other, it's more of a check in the box feeling.

The University of Arizona Global Campus matched what the military would give me as a grant and they made that what the tuition would be. I applied applied online and got somebody to contact me. I submitted transcripts and the process was pretty easy with the counselor. The learning process has been good. All the textbooks are digital so it makes it easier to find what you're looking for and it was included in the grant. Then, one time, I had a family emergency and the instructor gave me a couple of extra days to submit it because of the situation.

I am in the military, and University of Arizona has a military-friendly and specific counselor to help out within that transition then having to take some pauses. My re-enrollment has been very simple with updating records and re-evaluation of transcripts. The process is user-oriented. You get the simple tutorials once you start. Everything, functionality-wise, is click and play. Compared to some other universities that have been able to help other people, this one is simpler.

I'm military, so some of the stuff were easier. It's a reduce to meet the army objective which is 250 per credit hour or 750 a class for most classes. The classes were challenging, which is good. I had a spread-out experience because I kept stopping. But University of Arizona was able to work with me.

I've taken quite a few courses with them and for the most part, they have been pretty good courses. There were some that were a little tougher than others, though. They also seemed to be very easy to communicate with and to work with the education center on the military installation. All the information is also easily accessible from their website that is so self-explanatory. It's also interesting because you get different professors. But overall, all of the professors were really good communicators and I totally enjoyed it. I learned a lot.
Reviewed Jan. 27, 2023
The courses were good and informative but I feel that for the route that I took, there were some things that could have been done better - more training on things like Excel. We could have been more prepared for Excel instead of throwing it at us at the end of the program. I had to figure it all out and trying to do that and doing the homework can be pretty stressful when you're not sure what you're doing. Other than that, the teachers were kind and they worked with me. Everything seemed to be fair.

Maria helped me through the whole process while on the phone with me while I logged in. Everything was fine. I had only one class a month and it was so easy. It helped so much, especially with kids. Also, Arizona Global let me take up to six-month break after I had the baby. It really helped, especially with postpartum depression and get adjusted to a new child. Another thing that helped was the fact that my husband's military, so I got my books for free.
They made sure that when I took the break that it was postponed so I wouldn’t have to pay extra. If I did have to pay extra, they calculated it for me and told me how much I would have to pay. But it's kinda harder to communicate with some teachers. Some teachers don't like to wait. I had one class with a teacher that I couldn't understand what she wanted. She wanted too much. So I switched to a different class, and then when I had to take the other class, a different teacher was teaching it. But if we don't complete the first assignment, we can always hold that class without having to pay extra and take a different class first.

The enrollment process went really fast and easy. The person who was assigned to me was in constant communication of what I needed and how to get them. The learning experience was fast-paced but overall, it was really good. The information provided had all the essentials I needed to complete the assignment. Also, I really like the graduation piece and how it was organized. It was really well executed. I was traveling from Oklahoma and the constant communication through email was so helpful in trying to navigate a different city than I'm used to.

I wanted to go to school local, but they gave me a hard time and wouldn't process my paperwork. But Ashford picked me up ASAP. They reached out to me first and responded to my interest in starting school, and they got me in class. Getting enrolled was so easy and the timing was great. I was able to do my work online and it didn't interfere with me getting off from work or not having my assignments in on time. I was able to continue my regular day through life and just log on to my work without any complications. So, it was the luck of the draw.
The learning experience was great. This would give you some type of discipline if you don’t have any, and some type of drive to do things on a better schedule versus just jumping in headfirst. I have to have structure and when I didn't have that, I always got a phone call from an advisor or an email from my instructor asking me what’s going on and telling me I could reach out to them. So, it reminded me when I was falling off track how to get back on track. I had that help and encouragement from my professors. You're not gonna find anyone that's not local that's gonna call and say they noticed that you didn't post for your discussion and that they’re not sure if something is going on or if you’ll still gonna be coming to class. If I missed the discussion here locally, it would just be a missed grade and nobody's gonna contact me.

Being able to take one class at a time appealed to me at most about Ashford and when I enrolled, everything was smooth. My schedule was made for me so all I had to do was just log on. The learning experience was good. I was able to contact my teacher when I needed them. I’m a single mom and I completed both my undergrad and my master's program with University of Arizona in less than five years. I told them what I wanted and where I was trying to go career-wise, which was to be an intervention specialist. They got me on the track and I've been an intervention specialist now for two years.
Everything was straightforward and simple. Even when I was in school, I went throughout the duration of pregnancy and I even took a leave a little bit because of postpartum. Going to school throughout COVID and going through different family losses and pregnancy, I have never had more grace shown by that many teachers before just to be like human to human. So, I'm very grateful. I owe several of my professors a lot, because I'm sure if I was going somewhere else, I probably wouldn't have been able to finish.

I liked how the University of Arizona has five-week long courses. They have more condensed material and I was able to go through it a little bit easier at my own pace. By the time my classes were done, I was moving on to the next one. So, it kind of kept it more refreshing for me. As far as the enrollment process, I had no problems because I would just make a phone call to my counselor and they walked me through everything. So, it was really easy.
I graduated in May and it felt pretty good. Because of my job, I was only able to take classes at a certain amount of time. Then because the air force only gives a certain amount of money each year, I had to prolong my schooling for a really long time. So, it felt really good after about six years of working on schooling to get done with it. I enjoyed the template of the classes. I liked the material that was offered, and I liked how easy it was to get into classes. I also liked how my counselor worked with me based on how much tuition assistance the government was offering me, and then they worked around my schedule.

Enrollment with the University of Arizona was easy. It was not as smooth as I would have liked. They tried to rush things through so that I could get into a class relatively quickly. The paperwork did not file on time. So, I started my first class, and then they bounced me out in the middle of the class. It didn't hurt anything. I just had to wait a week to get back into a different class and then redo that class later. It wasn't super inconvenient, but I did have to do homework and stuff for a class that I didn't get to use.
The learning experience was fantastic. Some of the classes in my degree were very unorthodox for online learning and I really enjoyed that because just writing papers can get redundant. I had an environmental class that had a lot of online labs and assignments on things that were really unique. So, a lot of my classes overall were not run-of-the-mill online classes and I enjoyed that. The professors were very helpful when needed. They did their assigned notifications and weekly updates. I did Ashford University and then they transitioned over to the University of Arizona while I was pursuing my Master’s. The school's guidance was good up until closer to the end. One professor was very challenging and I lost my 4.0. Other than that, I had no issues. To succeed as an online student, make sure you have your assignment started and you work off the syllabus to try to make sure you're in the right area. The University of Arizona instructors were so very helpful. They were very quick to respond whenever I had a question. When you're not in front of the instructor, there could be miscommunication, so being able to have someone reply to my questions or concerns in a timely manner was key. The other thing was they were very detailed in regards to their instruction as well, and I appreciate that. They were very understanding too. I had a situation where I had a death in the family and they were very cooperative in working with me. They were excellent.
Another thing that I liked about the online learning is the discussion forums that we had to do. I especially liked it whenever we had to do group work, because it made it seem like we were in class and we were able to connect with the other peers and work on projects together, which is critical in building a skill set. The only issue that I had was when I ordered my cap. I haven't received my tassel.

I started with Ashford University back in 2010 and I was looking to get my associate's degree to have on my resume. Ashford had one of the lower prices per credit hour and it seemed like a straightforward program. This was early in online learning and I knew a couple of other people who had actually done it. They gave me some feedback.
The professors and instructors were all good but there were a couple that seemed like they were a little bit tougher than others. Most were consistent in terms of expectations and also how they graded your work. To be successful as an online student, you gotta be willing to see the big picture a little bit. It takes some fortitude to sit down in front of that computer for hours on end, whether it's after work or on the weekend. When it's sunny and 80 out, nobody wants to write a 10-page paper on leadership.
I would recommend this university, especially if I happen to be speaking to somebody that I knew was reasonably intelligent and wanted to work. It's a good outlet for somebody like that because you do it on your own time. The way it's geared is more towards someone who didn't go to a regular university and is now playing catch-up after the fact. That's exactly what I was. If you don't have the ambition to do it on your own then this university isn't for you. But if you’re wanting the degree, it's a good avenue.

The onboarding people and the advisor seemed very knowledgeable. That swayed me to go with them. The only hiccup I had was with the financial aid not being as clear as it should have been, especially for students that are doing financial aid for the first time. When I went back to my advisors, they were able to explain it in more detail than the financial aid department. That aside, I had a great experience. I started with Education Connection and they put me in touch with Ashford University, now called the University of Arizona. They offered five-week courses and a lot of help in those courses. I was really worried about going back to school because I struggled a lot in high school. I live in Colorado and I had a few other schools closer to my home that I was looking into for my master's program. I ended up staying with the University of Arizona because of how their teachers are and how many resources they have. They have so many different resources for students to be successful.
The enrollment process was super easy. Both my undergrad advisor and my master's advisor walked me through everything and helped me out. There are a few professors that are super harsh. But overall, my experiences with the instructors are fantastic. If you reach out to them and let them know that something's going on in your personal life, they help you out. I had some issues that came up and I was a few days late on a paper. I called my instructor to let them know and they gave me an extension to get my paper in instead of, "Oh, well, that sucks." I learned a lot and I'm able to apply a lot of what I've learned to my job. I just got a new job and a lot of it was based off of my education.
Join the University of Arizona. I have had a few people come to me and talk to me about my experiences with them. They ultimately decided to go with a different school because the university didn't offer the program that they were looking for. But still, I talk about the university quite a bit because of just how much I really enjoy going to school here.

For people like me who are active duty and we have times when we don't have internet access for a few months, we have to take a break, and it makes the reintegration process much more difficult for us and rather than being able to just schedule once we’re back to where we can do so and pick up where we left off.

My student advisor had been excellent from the very beginning, walking me through because I was scared out of my mind to start back to college. She became a very good friend by the end, supporting me through some personal stuff that I was going through. The classes themselves were very easy to log in to. It was a bit of a challenge to learn and basically what I was doing. But once you got the hang of it, especially after the first course or two, it was boom, you get up, you create your own rhythm, your own schedule of “Here's what I could expect of myself for today”.
A lot of the professors were magnificent. Most of the coursework was extremely challenging. But I liked that, because it felt like I was getting my money's worth. The University's library was heaven sent to me. I would take whatever was expected for a paper that I had to write or whatever work I had to do and go, "Well, that's interesting. But let's see what the library's got." I dive in and I would crank out above and beyond what the professor would want from me in that particular assignment. So I got way more out of it. I enjoyed all of that part.
Most of my peers in the class were really great. When we would turn in our assignments that were submitted for the entire class, and everybody could comment on it, it was collegiate for the most part. There were very good conversations back and forth so that we could each learn. One of the things that I truly enjoyed about the classroom experiences was that because of my age, I would have all this information plus experiences that some of the stuff that we were learning in the classroom. I was there when the space shuttle launched for the first time ever, and explained when the Challenger exploded and how that affected me. That was such a cool experience to be able to share that with younger generations who were with me. I loved my experience.

I looked into Arizona Global and a couple of other schools that were strictly online. It came down to WGU and Arizona Global. I went with Arizona because WGU let you work at your own pace, which is fine for some. But for me, I'm a very disciplined person, but I really wanted that accountability of not being on my own and having a set schedule. Also, WGU does proctored exams and I didn't like that because sometimes I would need to do schoolwork at 1:00 or 2:00 in the morning. I didn't want to have to worry about a proctor not being available. So Arizona Global fits better for my lifestyle. Another thing that sold me was that my company takes part in the corporate full tuition grant. I didn't have to pay any money out of pocket. The experience alone was really great.
The classes were spread out. As far as the work, it was spread out well enough that I could get it done while also working. All of my instructors were very engaged. I learned from the program itself. The only thing is the way it's set up because there are no breaks unless you schedule the break, except for Christmas. For me, I was able to navigate it okay. But I could definitely see that as a challenge for some. So it might be good to have like one day break or a weekend break between classes.

University of Arizona Global did a great job. The staff did a good job of getting back to me and responding quickly to my questions. Being an active-duty military, I get a TA stipend of $4,500 a year to go to school and then, I can use my GI Bill if that runs out, which I max out every year. I transferred over to TA because it replenishes every October 1st. I told UAGC that my TA was back and I submitted a TA request to them for my final few courses and my capstone But then, they pulled my GI Bill. So, they’re pulling both funds. I don't even know where that TA money went. Now, I'm fighting with the VA to try to get that back. I don't know if it's on the VA or the UAGC side of the house. Since I'm active duty, I obviously don't get a housing stipend while active duty. I just use the funds solely for the schooling.
I don't know if there's a miscommunication between the VA and UAGC, but for some reason, the VA started to give me a textbook stipend. The military grant already included that in it. I was getting textbook stipends for months and the VA sent me a bill for $400 and it didn't make any sense. I was getting a textbook stipend when they know that they should be communicating with the VA. Now, I owe the VA money. The actual education and the course itself with UAGC were awesome. It was flexible for the schedule. My only gripe and complaint would be from the funding side of the house. It was not easy. It was almost like the finance department wasn't aware of what was going on at all.

And it all led towards me finishing a degree on time. If you're getting your master's degree, it's par for the course as far as a lot of individual self-motivating work to get it done. I started back in 2015 and it was great. It fit with my lifestyle instead of me having to go on campus to do work. So, it has fit into my lifestyle being a mom, fiancée and as a teacher. It fit into taking the classes online every five weeks. I've been in college before and I even tried going in class. And those classes run from six to eight weeks. It was too long. But with University of Arizona, you take the course every five weeks. And before you know it, the five weeks will be up. And you have to be in a new class already. One course for me was better because I'm able to focus. That one class every five weeks worked for me.
The classes are cool. I had some classes that I could have done better or maybe my quality work didn't meet the teacher standards. But I had good experience with if I didn't understand something, I would reach out to my professor. If I was turning something late, I would go ahead and turn it in. An older gentleman from Ashford called me and he was interested in trying to get me to go to Ashford. I wanted to do something with my life. The gentleman moved me over to the military adviser. The enrollment process was very easy. One of the biggest hurdles for me barring entry to applying to college was I heard a lot of horror stories about how hard it was. Being naïve and out of the game, I didn't know anything about college. I was just so confused. Fortunately, both of the academic advisors were really helpful and they didn't force me to do anything. All I needed to was fill out the forms that they would send to me. They were on the phone with me when they sent me the form. They walked me through step by step, what blocks I needed to sign, and what each block meant. They gave me the time to read if I wanted to, which I did. I could call them at any time.
I had a wonderful experience with the university. They changed my life. I focused hard on applying myself academically. During the time when it was scary because they lost the funding from the VA, the univeristy was still helpful. I was one class away from graduating and that was stressing me out. They said, "You'll finish out your semester here. And then once you're done, what you're obligated, the classes, you won't pay a dime. We already have funding ready to go.” They were very willing to work with me.
I earned my bachelor's degree recently and I was very happy about it. I'm really excited about it. This university has done right by me. Some of the academic advisors told me that it looks good to say master's degree in progress versus not having it on your resume at all. When I first set things up with Ashford, the actual process of enrolling wasn't hard. But finding somebody worth talking to there for any real reason was nonsense. They assigned me a new student advisor to help me with all the paperwork. He was a jerk. He emailed me and said I had a different advisor. Also, the professors were a hit or miss.
My previous employer had an agreement with Ashford. My employer pays the 5,250 that we get reimbursed through work. Ashford wrote it off as a grant. The way that Ashford manages that program isn't based on a fiscal year. It isn't even based on a calendar year or even semesters. They based it on when you started taking classes the very first time. For me, that was in March. Because of that, the 5,250 my employer paid in a calendar year did not line up with what Ashford was trying to do. My second class of 2021, they started coming at me for payments for these classes. I told them that my employer already paid the last year for all of this stuff. They said, "No, that doesn't apply because of the way that we do the timing." I had to call back four times because people were getting pissed off and wouldn't explain to me what was happening. They just kept telling me I owed money.
I had to drop out of my class and wait until January of this year so that my employer could give me the 5,250 again to finish the two classes I had left. It was a bunch of nonsense. It was nine months that I had to sit here and wait. It happened another time but this time was the worst. I took classes for over three years and I finished in April. That was a lot longer than it should have been. If it wasn't free for me, I would have dropped out two months in.

My company said they had this corporate grant program with the University of AZ Global and asked me to listen to the presentation. I did and thought about it for just a little bit. They were gonna pay for it all. I had to pay for it first then my company reimbursed me right away. There were a few courses that were really annoying. I knew I would have to take courses and that they were not all going to be fun. That was okay. But you take a course that was a waste of time and money that says, "These are the things that you need to do." It was one of the 100 classes and it was a nothing class.
The professors were very good. I liked the survey at the end of the class that they would not read until after I got all my grades. There were a few that were a little annoying but there was one, in particular, that was very worldly. He spent his summers in Switzerland with his three kids and he would go on and on about this when he could have just said he was going to be running a little late grading papers. All of us can't go and do all of these wonderfully worldly things. He was very knowledgeable but he was not professional. The other thing about him is he's too busy to give feedback on anything. There were a lot of papers and most of the professors gave very good feedback.
There were only five-week classes so in the second week, you would make a small paper and the professors would give you feedback on it. This was all building up to your final paper for that entire class. I could still use some of these same references and that was great. I ended up with a 3.97. My other issue was with the ethics and moral reasoning class. I am a conservative Christian and I was forced to disregard anything that I was thinking and pretend to write good papers. I quoted a simple proverb from the Bible and I had it referenced. It came back with, "Don't be quoting the Bible. Don't use the Bible. It's not a scholarly reference." I had a problem after that and that was really early on.
There was one thing that was really annoying and it took me hours up because it was always during work time that I had to deal with it. When I first started with this university, it was the end of April. I had to submit payments for each class until it added up to 5,250. When the next year started, you had to add it up to 5,250, do your reimbursements and then the rest of it would kick in. I did this three years in a row. On the second year, I found out in April that there was an overpayment.
First, they sent this big whoop dee doo thing saying I made it to the Dean's list. Two weeks later, all of my classes that had been scheduled for me disappeared. I was told it was because I haven't paid. I told them that I sent in reimbursements for last year and I started in January of the year. They said that January was still the previous academic year. They said, "Your academic year was from April through March of the next year." So first, I was overpaid then it took hours and lots of emails and more hours. It took more than a year of fighting.
When I finally got done towards the end, they said, "You need to make sure you have a zero balance or you can't graduate." They said I still owed $1,530. But I didn't. I was reprimanded. They said, "You're not supposed to do it that way. You were supposed to pay this and this and this. Now, we have to go through and itemize it." Nobody explained that the academic year started the month that you started. That was the worst.
In the end, I said, "Fine. Here's the $1,530. I just want to graduate. I'm sick and tired of this. I don't want to spend hours." They had somebody review it and eventually, they came back and said, "You're overpaid by 1,530." Most of the financial people were very nice but they were just sorting through things manually. At this age, I was keeping it on a spreadsheet and I knew what I had paid.
I completed the program on April 18. I finished three years. When I was 18, I joined the Navy because I wanted to get my education. Little by little, I did. It's taken 40 years. On the whole, there are things that can be improved upon. But I would recommend the University of AZ Global because that was the way that I finally got this goal accomplished. I told other people here at work, "Go there. But let me tell you, your academic years start whenever you started."

Enrolling with University of Arizona was very easy, and it happened very quickly, which was good and bad. I wasn't expecting it, but I was enrolled in a class in a week and a half. There were a lot of courses that I absolutely did not need at all, but had to take. The major course requirements, I really enjoyed all of those classes. They were very interesting. It was for the major, so everyone in the class was on the same page. With the other classes, everything I said, I'd have to explain myself, why I'm saying it and because it's my major and somehow related into the discussion.
The classwork was spaced out nicely. The students have more than enough time in between due dates to do everything, and the professors were good. I had some that would post video discussions. They would record themselves and respond, but I've also had some that would just grade it and be done. No comments. It was easy grading for them. I emailed the professor when I had questions, but other than that, I just pushed through it. I never kept in contact with my peers. We had to do responses, and it had to be three sentences. Most of them were like, "Good job. I liked how you said this. Maybe say this," and that was the end of it. Everyone was just trying to get done.
University of Arizona is portrayed online and on ads as being affordable, and it wasn't. At one point, I was a year in and they said I owed $7,000. I had no idea how I owed that, but I ended up paying some of it, because I had to have under a certain amount in order for me to continue taking classes. When I finished in May, I got an email saying I had a balance of over $4,000. I paid some of it, and that was that. I've been saving up for that. Nobody told me that I got a grant in May as well. I don't know why I don't get email notifications from them anymore, but I found out I had a grant and it took care of most of that money.
One of the most stressful things throughout the whole program was money, because I didn't realize how expensive it was. I'd recommend University of Arizona to people, but the first thing I would say would be about the money that randomly appeared. No one knew where it was coming from. Financial aid should have covered that, and I shouldn't have had to pay anything. I did research, and I'm not the only student that happened to.

The enrollment process was easy. As soon as I decided to go back to school, I contacted the student advisor. I was right in and started my classes within a week. The whole course was good until I got to the last two courses, the general capstone and the Homeland Security capstone. The general capstone should have been done way earlier during my education process. I did all the prereq classes then I went through all the core classes. I went through the general education capstone. The teacher at that point was like, "This is how you do research." But I've already gone through this whole thing and did research and real papers and did really good. Why was I taking this class at the very end?
When I got to the Homeland Security and Emergency Management capstone, that was more just a recap of everything I already learned. They were trying to tie it all together. But I had done all that before. I even emailed my teacher at one point and said, "I wrote numerous papers on Hurricane Katrina and numerous papers on emergency plans. Can I recycle some of my work?" It was like me trying to write the same thing again in a different way. The teacher let me do that. I actually submitted some of my old papers to him to show that I've already done this.
Other than that, it was a good experience overall and I enjoyed going to school there. The academic advisors, the military advisors, and everybody else were super helpful and responsive to every need I had. I would definitely recommend somebody else to take the course. It started with one person then once that process was done, they transferred me over to another person. Then another process started. The experience was exactly what I needed. It was, at times, intense but very direct and a lot of help. It made getting a good grade easy, but I had to work for it. They provided 24-hour writing services which was very convenient. They also gave me access to Grammarly which was a bulk of why most of my papers were graded well. They added critique services to papers. If I submitted my paper at a certain time, they would give me back their advice towards my paper, which gave me a buffer and helped me think better. The intent was there and they're newer so most of their customer service skills were at a max to help people.

I was so used to just being in the classroom, but this is different. I love the professors. I also got their personal number so if I had any more questions outside of school, they would work with me. If I got confused with something, they explained it in better detail for me to understand. My learning experience was worth it.

Whenever I needed assistance, I always had someone who would explain and help me work through whatever I needed to work through. I had a lot of resources available if I needed them. My graduation was delayed by a couple of weeks because we didn't have an instructor available. That had to do with the whole times that we're living in and covid precautions. I hated that I got pushed back a little bit but that was very small thing. I am a level two sales executive for a Fortune 500 company and having this degree under my belt took me up the ladder.

I completed my Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education Administration. I finished in April and got my certificate.
The classes were good and the instructors that I had were great. The expectations were high. The coursework made me have to research and figure out how to construct the papers or the projects that I was doing. It was very relevant to what I needed to do in the field, especially as an administrator in early childhood education. People like me get a little bit heated when it comes to finances but they made it an easy road to go through. My learning experience was amazing, except the last class. But I commended our professor and told her that she pushed us to the point of no return. I saw some people drop out of the class. But it made me realize that she made sure that the people that were getting their masters were at that level. She made sure that I knew everything about psychology. The advisors at University of Arizona were easier to talk to, really got back to me, and answered all the questions. They didn't really hound or harass me. Enrolling with them was super easy. I looked to other options with my masters but I stuck to what I know. When I compared and talked to other people doing their masters, the others didn't seem as flexible. I was at a work meeting and there were representatives from Ashford University that came to our meeting and had a little booth and shared a pamphlet. We gave them five minutes. And they left their little table open so I went over and I got a brochure. And with the cooperation of my company and the scholarship, and as well as the amount that my company covers, it was a no-brainer.
I went home with the pamphlet and talked to my family and did the enrollment. That was Ashford at the time. It was a little complicated in that there were different layers. It was more my company more than anything, because I had to get approval to initiate it. And I had to get approval for each course through the whole process. And there was one miss along the way where I had to eat the $1,500 course fee because every five weeks I submitted, and I had to submit the request to take the course and the request for the reimbursement. I missed one of the requests to take the course so I couldn't get reimbursed. That was hard.
I learned a lot. I have 30 years in business so I chose business leadership. So it enhanced that learning and a lot of the courses in business leadership were centered around HR, diversity, equity, and inclusion, and those are all things that I'm very interested in. It supported that. I loved it. Some professors were more engaging than others. I had one that I had reached out and asked a question, and he asked if we could just talk by phone, and that was great. But I only talked live to one in three years and if I had a problem or issue, I would email and I got responses immediately. It was an amazing opportunity to achieve something that I never thought would happen in my life. I've already recommended University of Arizona and there are already people in my company who started it.

Enrollment process was pretty easy. I submitted an application online, and then someone reached out to me and walked me through the rest of the paperwork and everything I needed to do to get set. Then next thing I knew, I was scheduling classes. Overall, the learning experience was good. In an online environment, it's about as good as it can be. The workload balance was good and the content was relevant. Earlier on, there was more of an emphasis on group assignments in some courses, which I don't feel are conducive to an online university. But other than that, it was a good experience.
Every one of the instructors typically posted their contact information and an introduction. So if I needed something, I can always shoot them an email from my personal email, and I usually heard back promptly. Or if not, they would provide us hours that they were available and then I could shoot them an email or a text in those hours, and usually heard right back from them. Overall, it’s a bit of a grind when you're doing life and school. But it was a positive experience. The enrollment process was almost seamless. It was very impressive how everything was. The whole process was pretty much streamlined. They had everything that I was supposed to take. They had all of that laid out ahead of time so I knew what classes I was going to be taking. After a while, you just look forward to taking the next thing. It doesn't even matter too much, but you try to keep up with everything because for my master's degree specifically, once you get past those initial lower level classes and you get into the concentration classes, that's when it requires a lot more of your attention. I let all of the instructors I worked with know what my situation was. If you can't get an assignment in by a certain time, just let them know. The deadline is really not the most important thing, especially for online school, unless it's a final paper.
One process that would definitely be much appreciated is if there's a discrepancy with a student's account, like their account is starting to get really, really high, and they have a very particular scholarship situation, they should definitely be reached out to by call until they get ahold of them, because simply just having the emails is not sufficient. Then when a situation arises where the threshold for their account was never really identified or say, “Hey, you probably shouldn't ever go past this mark financially or you risk being disenrolled or anything like that.” Because if you don't, they end up disenrolling you, and you have to jump through a lot of different holes to get back in school, but now you're a month or two off of your graduation.

I had done online college before so I was familiar with the format. But person to person might have just been better as far as getting detailed information. The work itself was good as well as the textbooks. I was probably only disappointed with the interaction with the actual teachers. The experience was great but if they had video courses where you could see the teacher standing, you can feel like you're actually interacting with someone. But I'm glad that I did it and it's over and I'm not doing it again. Working two jobs, it's wonderful to be able to just sit down at the computer. And I'd gotten used to as soon as I got home, I'd rest for 30 minutes and then I would be on the computer for three to four hours every night.
The only bad thing about it is it's very costly. It was 54,000 and if I had gone to TJC, it would have been about 30,000. Also, they need to have somebody specialized in Zoom that can communicate with students who might be having trouble. The only issue I had was sometimes when you have your liaison, if I had to try and switch classes, I didn’t get the same one. So, I always got used to building rapport, the one that’s new, and my schedule would change without me knowing. And I call and I would have a different one. So, I gotta explain that. I know it’s kind of hard to keep some people. People get promoted. Other than that, it wasn’t hard.
The only other thing was when I first started out, I got all my accounting classes right upfront versus starting the Gen Eds, versus when you go through traditional colleges, you have to start with a Gen Eds and finish them out before you start pursuing your degree. They're here, there, and everywhere. That's just because that's the way the scheduling fell. And I only had one class that I didn't care for, and that was just one class out of every one I took. Just disagreements between me and the teacher. I would try to search somebody for help. He would take forever, it would go past the deadline, so I would get docked. I wouldn’t even get credit. I'm very happy with the level of service from the university. When I had first started, Ashford told me because I already had my Master’s, that it would only take a year. And when it came down after I had enrolled, they said, “Oh, no. It’s only three classes.” But I continued on. I looked at the bigger picture, that in a year and a half, I could get my second Master’s. And that’s what I did.
My company paid for the Master’s. I was the first one that joined, and I had a bunch of people in my department join and do it. One person graduated in October. Another one is finishing her University of Arizona soon. HR came up to me and said, “Why is the enrollment in your department higher than any other department?” So, we looked at the big picture. And at the end of the day, it was a good learning experience. I learned a lot, especially during the pandemic. I went during 2020, I finished February 1st, 2021. And I still learn a lot. It's a good proponent of education. So, this worked out well for me.
I also had my staff into make sure whatever education they could get. I always say to my co-workers, “It’s really just one summer, two summers. That it. You got a Master’s. The majority of the time, it’s the winter months, no one’s doing anything.” I told this girl we were doing nothing. We’re hibernating all winter long. What are we gonna do? And who would have known that COVID would have happened? And people were, “Oh my God, I have nothing to do.” I would say, “I got too much to do. I got school, I got this, work and everything.” At the end of it, everyone said to me, “You came out with a degree?” “Oh, yes. Exactly.” All my friends are now going. My one friend just started to go back to school. Because she said, “I should have done it.” Now, it’s hard. Everything’s starting to open up.
I had told them originally that the experience, the professors being so accommodating, especially when we went into the pandemic, because my company was transitioning to working from home. And the professor was so amazing. Even the professor, right before the final paper to be due, sent a message to my advisor and said how a good student I was during his class. That made an impact on me.
I had such a good experience. The graduation was in June 12th. University of Arizona made us feel like even though with the pandemic, we couldn’t go out there, they put the name scroll and sent it to me. They asked us to take pictures. The whole experience was amazing. Who could say that in a year and a half, you finish graduate? I graduated with my second Master’s. And I graduated the second time with honors. But this time was much harder. My staff and I were all in it together. They taught me the computer stuff that I didn't know. And we all taught each other. It was amazing that I made everybody go for it. So, I would tell it to everybody that I come in contact with. I even liked University of Arizona on LinkedIn.

I was getting a master's in business at the University of Arizona. I had already done an undergrad degree to a brick-and-mortar school. This was my first experience doing anything online. It was a lot different than a classroom. It's really hard to replicate that experience online. It seemed that there was much more of a community aspect when it was in a physical location. I got to see the same students for a couple of years straight there while doing the undergrad and that gets eliminated when you're doing it online. But I still graduated.
The quality of professors was definitely there but didn't get the opportunity to build any kind of relationship since there were no office hours that I can physically go in and talk to a professor. It felt like I didn't really know the professors or get a feel for them because everything is online, through email, which isn't necessarily bad because I was full-time working. For some people, that's exactly what they were looking for, like in my case. But for others, they might feel like they didn't get a traditional college experience. But I recommend all of my co-workers who are working for T-Mobile to definitely take advantage of it, especially with the tuition reimbursement that they do. I definitely advocate for the program. The only hurdle that I experienced was they wanted every old transcript. It took a little bit to track some information down that was required.

We had a service member who was enrolled with the University of Arizona and he told me about it. It was a lot of work but it was a good experience. I'm a project manager so the schedule worked out really well for me. It's just you give up your weekends and you spend a lot of afternoons with a lot of writing, researching, and studying. That pays off and I graduated with honors.
When I first started, we were going out of the States so I had to pause one and come back. I spoke to their staff several times and they were easy to get in contact with. They would contact me back if I couldn't get in touch with them. Some of the contacts had to do with financial aid getting set up and scheduling courses earlier.
I would recommend the University of Arizona. But I'd tell people they have to get ready. It's not an easy thing but it's worth it in the end. You just have be willing to make the sacrifice. I plan on going back there and finishing my graduate degree. I've started my Master's in Organizational Management. I'm six classes in, so far. It's a great program.

I go through the employee tuition program through my employer. I looked at a couple of them, one of which was Ashford. I spoke to a couple of people. There is a person that contacts you to enroll in the school. Ashford was the one that did not just constantly hound me and try to push me. They let me make my decision and that was one of the main reasons that I chose them. The enrollment was easy and the staff were helpful. They were there with me enrolling. If I had any questions, it was right there. I didn't have to go look up a number and try to call anybody. They set up a time and a day for us to get on the phone together. They then told me what to log into and told me how to do it.
I loved the learning experience and I loved that it was at home. Everything's due on Monday but I was able to do it on Sunday. There was no, “You can't turn this in early.” It was at my own pace. It was harder than being in a classroom but it was a great experience. When you're in a classroom, you have someone up there at the chalkboard and you have everything right in front of you. With online school, you have to figure out a lot of it. You can ask. But I don't like to ask so I had to figure things out myself.
The couple of times I had issues, I went to my professor and had no problem with getting an answer. I also had no problem getting answers from technical support either. Ashford is a great school. They have a lot of opportunities and different degrees that you can choose from. They're very helpful always and they care about what happens with you throughout your school and afterwards. I still get emails and I still get reached out to asking me how things are going. That, to me, says a lot.

I was going for my master's, a standard MBA, but then I was able to select a specialty. I went with what I'm pursuing in my workplace, which is IT-related. The depth of the specialty could be a bit more though. You get an MBA and you've got a business degree, and after that, it's, "Where do you go?" Still, I enjoyed all of the courses. My instructors were great, until I got to the end that I came across an instructor that was a little less pleasing.
I struggled back and forth. "Okay, this is the final course. Maybe the challenge is that it's more hands-off. You're going through this to get to a point where you need to show more initiative. You don't need your hand held." I got a grade that I didn't deserve and I don't feel that things were explained very clearly, even though the instructor took the time to have a session here and there afterwards. I went to every session and that was definitely not my best experience as far as the course went. There was an interactive thing online and I was able to apply my skills. Most of the class did not successfully complete that or come ahead and have a successful business at the end. I did, and the gentleman still graded me like I didn't have knowledge.
It was a little frustrating, but I wouldn't blame the school for one instructor. I also spoke to somebody and I wouldn't be surprised if he's not there because I wasn't the only one. The rest, I really had a good experience, and I would definitely recommend University of Arizona. The curriculum is straightforward and it's time-sensitive. Each step really encourages you for the next class that I found it very welcoming for the flow of things, even though if you were able to adjust it a little. The instructors were attentive and the feedback was clear. Overall, people look around and price is a huge factor, and I really feel like I got my money's worth.

The other thing is I'm gonna have my two college sons take a couple of classes there as now matriculated students so that they can transfer them to their community college and they can graduate early. They got their start times every Tuesday. The University of Arizona is very easy to work with. The only thing that I can say that the school could do better is that when they have students who have these interactions with professors that aren't so good, they could audit their professors. I had one professor I didn't really vibe with. But aside from that, the class structure was good. It was five weeks long per class and the curriculum was pretty good. Some people were not reasonable at all with their requests, like the HR strategy where I had to explain the HR strategy of the company I work for. I work for JPMorgan Chase and they're not sharing that with me. I reached out my professors and they said I was gonna have to figure something out. I did. I made it up because that was the only thing I could do. Some of their expectations were ridiculous. It’s a wash, rinse and repeat type thing for them.
Every single class I took, I had a paper due in one day and two discussions. There was no emphasis on learning but just an emphasis on getting through. Everyone I talked to that has gone through this same process in the same university said the same thing. They do it to get the paper. It’s unfortunate. They should have some creativity and have some real learning experiences.
If you're looking to just get a piece of paper that says you have a master's degree, then the University of Arizona is great. You know what to expect, you can easily get through it, and you just do the work. The actual learning and the way that the classes are set up with University of Arizona is amazing. It's really cool that I am just doing one class at a time. It's a lot of paper writing for that one class, so it is more in depth with that one class, even though it's five weeks. I have a learning disability so for me, it was nice to really be able to focus on one class and have the ability to go back over and over and review the material continuously, and not have to flip my mind to another class on a different subject.
The administrative staff could use some work though. If I hadn't been on top of my stuff, there would have been things that were missed. If I had an academic leave, I was the one that was just calling and asking if they got this and that. There's no follow-up whatsoever. When I submitted my application originally, nobody really bothered to tell me that it was not done correctly until that first week of class. Then all of a sudden, I couldn't do it. But the people are nice, they just don't really do their job sometimes. It was a lot of me having to double check their work, though, which on top of having a family as well as a fulltime job and going to school fulltime, it was an aggressive kind of structure and it was frustrating.
There was a also little funny part at the end where they said I needed to pay more then they'd refund me later. I told them that that didn't make any sense. I was just going to pay them what the difference was and they could figure it out. It ended up working out at the end, but it was so dumb that they were going to send me a $3 refund check. Another thing is, the diploma says University of Arizona Global Campus and that is long in terms of putting it on a class ring or even writing it out on a resume.
Other than that, I'm very grateful for the university and from an educational standpoint, it's one of the best online schools that I've ever seen. I learned a lot and I love the professors. The enrollment process was really easy. I called the counselor and they did what they had to do on their end and got me enrolled. Everything went pretty smooth. Also, I loved the counselors that were assigned to me. I had some phenomenal counselors. They were always easy to access and always willing to help and be flexible with me. Especially when I got into my senior year and I was kind of burned out on school, they were helping me push me across the finish line and getting me done. And if I needed to drop a course, they helped me get the course dropped but they also helped me make sure that I knew exactly what I was going to end up paying back to the VA and things like that. I really appreciated that about them. I really enjoyed the university. They opened a lot of doors for me so I'm eternally grateful for that.

I finished up my bachelor's and it was pretty convenient. I like that the courses and everything could be done online. Also, the military advisors were really helpful. COVID started happening and we were essential workers and it was like pulling me left and right. I was not having a lot of time for my classes and they worked with me a lot. I only had one issue before with a class. I had internet service issues and I sent the instructor some of my finals. I emailed him to make sure everything was good and he received it. It was around the holiday break and he said that after everybody comes back, everything should be reflected but it never did. I kind of went back and forth about that. I reached out and he was gone. They didn't know what grade he would have given so it never got posted. I had to redo the course. But that was the only bad experience. The instructors, even him, were very accommodating.
