My experience from the first app. & on. Was first introduced to the facility, due to the fact it was an emergency, pain with my tooth & they were a facility that would see you on same day, without being a patient of theirs. That was probably the only good thing that came out, in respect to the facility. After that, it was downhill. The next appointment was the follow up to the emergency service, the tooth got pulled and since I still had money to use up on my dental insurance, I made another app. for teeth cleaning, but that did not happen. Something else was wrong with my teeth that got taken care of and that was the end of my dental insurance for that year along with my financial responsibility. Which I believed was the end of that until I received a letter 6 or 7 months later saying that this was my 3rd bill sent to me & they have not received a payment, which confused me when I had not received even one bill from the last and they said final payment, so that upset me, spoke with the manager.

She was rude, tried to get answers why I still owe money & she was no help. Instead she made it hard for me to get answers, all tried to get info via other phone #, and just got the run around, so they hit me up with another bill after I paid the 6 month later bill that I received. But before all of this went down, I had made another appointment for the following year when my insurance would kick in again for cleaning of teeth, but nope instead I had more teeth pulled had to get a bridge made which was about 23 hundred after my insurance was used up but with me not working, I was not sure how I would pay for it, but they had their own so. Solution if you qualified for their care program which if you financed with them & paid it off in 12 months, there would be no interest plus they brought down the amount that I financed to $1800.00.

I fell in to some money & was able to pay it off ahead of time, then I got another bill saying that what they thought the insurance would pay was incorrect & I still owed money and that was about 6 months later. You kinda start thinking they are scammers. I did not want to go through all the garbage I went through last time so I just pay it. I beat the stress you go through & they probably bank on that. But it did not end there. My son had gone in for an appt. Everything went okay, till almost a year later he is getting billed for a missed appt. About almost a year down the road, supposedly he made that much in advance, which is totally untrue. He never made another appt. But continuously for about one year kept getting billed for it even after speaking with the facility he and I at different times & they're saying that it is a mistake to not worry, but how can a mother not worry when it'd their sons' credit being questioned, which is a big deal for each individual in the USA & how it can affect him later. It is not worth the stress or headaches you go through with this type of facility that has shown that they're just a scam.

I made appointment to have my teeth cleaning. The 1st visit they said they need to take x-rays. After the x-rays, they informed I have cavities. I need to rescheduling for the next appointment to do the filling. I told them I need the filling right now. I need to have a teeth clean. They scheduled for me to come back for cleaning. When I arrived at my next appointment, they said they are busy. They can only to the polish today. So I got the polish. After the 6 months, I schedule to come back for another cleaning. They took me in and started doing the x-rays. The assistant said they're overwhelmed with patients today. "We're going to take the x-rays and see where we are going from here." I told them I only need to do the cleaning. She said only the dentist or hygienist can do that and they're busy today. She will perform the polish for me if I want. What kind of business is this? We pay our insurance for preventative services but these dentists do not want to do the job we pay entitle to.

I went to Bright Now Dental in Woodinville, as they were covered by my insurance. On the phone they specified the first visit would be x-rays and a cleaning. My daughter and I had back to back appointments. I went in first and the cleaning was...thorough. A lot of scraping. The hygienist said I had a couple of cavities, but that everything looked pretty good.

The dentist came in and started off non-committal. Then it kind of escalated to where I felt like I was at a used car lot. Basically, she began suggesting "preventative" care, including extraction of wisdom teeth, a bridge and or implant (2 back teeth I had pulled in my early 20's). She said all previous fillings I had were falling out, suggested braces, whitening, and on and on. I ended up with 2 pages of a treatment plan.

What bothered me was the way she put it. I never got an exact number of cavities she claimed I had, because as she was speaking, it seemed like she was tentatively adding things to be done. It was almost laughable. As I gave non-committal noises about her suggestions, the treatments needed kept being added, including a crown on a back tooth that "was kind of thin and might crack later".

This appointment was the first time I've heard that I might want to "straighten my teeth". Although I'm 38 and have been to the dentist numerous times, no dentist has ever suggested that my teeth need to be straightened, and yet here they are offering me a "Free" consultation. Another thing, the dentist scraped my lip with the instrument she was holding which really made me think twice about coming back, as laying down with your mouth open and sharp instruments near make me feel vulnerable. It was a strange appointment.

My daughter was supposed to have the same dentist as me, after my appointment, but when I came out, she was already done. They had given her x-rays and did not do a cleaning. I asked about this and they said it was because there was not a hygienist available. They said she had 2 cavities and they would clean her teeth when I came in to have them filled.

Also, the young ladies at the front desk were rude and unprofessional, and clearly talking about myself and or my daughter. They were whispering and giggling. It was so strange to have that happen in a dental office. I thought maybe it was a hidden camera show.

I went to Bright Now in Bradenton (Desoto Junction) and was so very disappointed with what was offered to me. I went in to get new dentures. After taking out a loan for the balance of what they claimed my insurance would not pay... I was offered teeth that clearly and absolutely did not belong to me. They looked like they belong to Mr. Ed (yes the horse!!!). When I told ** the head ** in the office that I wanted my money back that I paid via Bank of America debit card and auto pay out of my checking, this caused a problem (for them, not me).

I have been waiting for more than two months to get my money. I have file a complaint with the local police and just received a case number from the Clerk of the Court in Manatee County to file a small claim against the business. I don't think they realize that the customers that they attempt to serve has knowledge of the law. I have ask the attorney to include a 72 hour return of all funds paid or they will end up paying more than $$$ thousands in time missed from work and mental anguish. This does not include having to pay the court costs, my attorney fees, and lien against the license at the location.

If they do not return the funds I do plan to have the local news in the office bright and early Monday morning and if they deny entry, then the attorney general will have an inspector on the location before 5 pm to do check on all the dental instruments to check the hygiene practices. If they get shut down they will learn to not play with people’s time, money, and teeth like it is a game. This office is going to cause Bright Now Corporation to lose a lot money and potential customers. They can thank ** for that!!!!! I attached a photo (Take a look at these big ass teeth. They look like they belong to a robot with all that metal).

I had an appointment to check a tooth. The dentist said it was bad and needed a root canal. But I had to go to another dentist that wasn't a Bright Now office for the root canal and return to him for the crown. I decided I wasn't going to two different dentist for one tooth.

Two days later my back tooth really started hurting me real bad, so on a Sunday I called the office and a dentist called back. He called in Hydrocodone/Ibuprofen and Amoxicillin for me and told me to be at the office at 8am. That morning I was in so much pain and feeling loopy from the hydrocodone. He said that I needed root canal on the back tooth and also the side tooth that the other dentist had said but also the one next to it also. He left and the lady from the front desk came in and had me sign papers for payment or the work cannot be done. Keep in mind that I'm in tears with pain because of that back tooth. The dentist returned and did the work on the teeth.

Upon leaving the office I was given the cost of the visit and what my insurance paid. The total of on the bill was $9,560.00 and my part is $3,860.00 and with the finance charge my total is $4,372.93. I just learned a few days later that there was another tooth that they did a root canal on. I went in to have the one back emergency tooth taken care of and left with three teeth being done with a whopping $9,560.00 total.

Make sure you’re not on Hydrocodone when signing papers.

I went to BrightNow Dental in Bradenton, Florida and saw **, DDS, on September 19, 2013. He recommended that I get crowns on 2 teeth (number 14 & 15). The treatment plan that I agreed to was to include a core build up on both teeth. He prepped the teeth without removing the old fillings completely and the dental assistant then placed the temporary crowns (one of which had a hole in it) after dropping the impression tool once on the floor. No core build up was attempted. This procedure took only 1 hour, which in the past at other dental offices took at least 90 minutes per tooth.

After I got back to work, I noticed that my bill included a charge of $100 for core build up on 2 teeth, which I had put on my Discover card. No explanation was given to me before, during or after the procedure what was going on with my crown work. When I called back and talked to the front desk, my bill was adjusted. When I questioned the treatment plan, the office manager, Debbie **, argued with me about there not being a need to do a core build up on the 17-year-old fillings in the two teeth. I consulted my previous dentist who informed me that it was inappropriate therapy to put a crown on the old fillings because it would leave the roots open to infection.

The office manager suggested that I return to the office the next week to consult with **, DDS, about fixing the core build up. Without discussing the problem with me, he injected me with local anesthesia and proceeded to remove the old fillings and build a core. No new impressions were made and and the temporary crowns were put back on. It was hard to tell if the bite was aligned, due to my mouth being numb. After another week I saw another dentist **, DDS, to get my permanent crowns put on. One of the crowns #14 fits okay. The other one (#15) is very uncomfortable and sharp. I called the office again and scheduled another consultation for adjustment with Dr. **. The office manager, Debbie, was very rude and talking in whispers and the Dr. ** came in to the room all flushed with anger and said he was not going to treat me anymore in a very unprofessional manner.

When I inquired what was going on, no one would talk to me at all. A dental office where I spent over $1200 is the last place where I would expect to get the silent treatment. I am afraid of what kind of retaliation is in store for me if I ever return to this office. And the problem of discomfort still exists without resolution. My only recourse may be to turn the matter over to legal counsel.

Not keeping in consideration that I have a busy life and needed to be seen. I had to call off work. Also, my daughter was scheduled for a cavity removal and when we got there, the appointment was not in the system also. They once again tried to reschedule 2 months later. I called in and asked to speak to a supervisor. When we spoke, she would not let me get a word in. She was very rude. Not once did I hear an apology for the in inconvenience. I had braces on my teeth... and then power chains. The power chains pushed the flap of skin between my teeth to the back which in the process cut it as well. Now two years later, it starts to bother me... because I have been flossing too much. I really honestly think that if anyone wants to get braces from them ever, they should make sure to remind their well-educated orthodontist... to take a look at the gingival part of your mouth too (after the braces are off). So now, my two front teeth are becoming compromised by the bacterium in the gum flap pocket... and I will finally go through my gingivectomy. That is all I have to say.

Bright Now sends flyers around for new patients, $29.00, cleaning, X-rays, exam and therapeutic rinse. I figured they would pull you in and tell you that extra work needs to be done. As I am on a fixed income and tight budget, I figured at least I could have my teeth cleaned. When I got there it started okay. They took the X-rays, then I went to the exam room. The hygienist came in and started checking pockets. She was like Nurse Ratched. She was so rough I could not believe it. She made my gums bleed. She probed so deep. Then she tells me I need a deep scaling on all quadrants of my mouth and an antibiotic as I have infections. The Dentist came in and checked and said everything was okay. Then the hygienist told me they could not clean my teeth and to go to the front to get an estimate on the work that needed to be done. The total came to almost $1000.00. Then they tried me to join some sort of discount program to save some money.

I went to my regular dentist, which cost me more money, but as I have a long history with them, I trust what they tell me. I don't need deep scaling, and I have no infection. I expected to be sold some sort of upgrade, but that was highway robbery. They did only charge me $14.50 as they didn't clean my teeth. They are a total "bait and switch" operation. Beware of any specials offered by this company.

Terrible service. Went inquiring about wisdom teeth extraction for my minor child...Asked questions and got nothing but rude answers from the "surgeon". Asked what their protocol was for anesthetic reactions (stopped breathing, allergic reactions, etc.) if my child were to be put under general anesthesia (as he was suggesting) and was told "Benadryl &/or an epi pen". So basically the same protocol one would use at home for basic allergic response (as if one could swallow Benadryl while unconscious), but nothing you'd expect from someone who is using professional grade anesthesia drugs (the list he gave me was midazolam, fentanyl, propofol, and ketamine & said he "uses a little bit of each").

Please... Look up these drugs yourself to see what is needed in their administration. No nurses on staff or emergency response equipment in case of loss of blood pressure or stopped breathing (which is a very real side effect of those meds when not administered by a REAL anesthesiologist). I even asked how he gauged dosages (i.e. if he weighed the patient before dosing them via IV)... He said he went on whatever they told him their weight was. Does he know how many folks (in particular women) LIE about their weight?!! How irresponsible!

Then he had the audacity to suggest that "no one has an allergic reaction unless they've previously been exposed to a drug anyhow"... As if the thousands of people a year that have reactions to anesthesia that have never had surgeries before in their life have been "previously exposed to it"... or bee stings... or infants with peanut/strawberry allergies, etc. I guess they ate peanuts in utero? His smart alec response was, "Are you an immunologist now? (When I stated these examples of no previous exposure)" ...but he's not an immunologist either.

I then asked again if he had any serious safety protocol outside of "Benadryl and an epi pen" to assure my child's safety if put under general anesthesia and something were to go wrong (it has happened to others before, so it's not outside the realm of possibility & my family has a history of anesthesia reactions)... He said, "Dial 911," as if it were a joke... like asking about my child's safety was "hilarious" or "laughable". I am guessing, based by his reaction, that patient safety is pretty low on his list of priorities and parents with legitimate concerns & questions are treated like they have no right to even inquire. Not very professional on his part, when he is obviously threatened by a patient's parent/guardian asking questions to assure their child receive good and SAFE care.

No wonder their practice is in a li'l strip mall. Guess you can judge a book by its cover in this case. My advice...go see a REAL oral surgeon that has training and certification in the use of general anesthesia and equipment AND MEDICAL STAFF to monitor heart rate, blood pressure & breathing (yes, there are ones out there that do this which I located one right after seeing this jerk). If you're going here for a cleaning/checkup... fine... but don't go here for anything invasive requiring general anesthesia... They do NOT have your safety in mind.

Making my initial appointment as a first time patient in Elyria, Ohio was unfortunately a bad experience. I schedule an appointment for a cleaning. I make it clear during my appointment booking that I wanted my teeth cleaned and also confirmed that Bright Now Dental accepted my insurance. I arrived on time for a 09:45 a.m. appointment and waited over an hour. They took x-rays and had me seated and waited again. The Dentist arrived and ask me how I was doing and I stated I am waiting to get my teeth cleaned. He completed his exam and recommended I use a soft toothbrush but no treatment was necessary. Then I was told that I was done. I stated again that I was scheduled for a cleaning.

I was taken to the front desk and spoke to the manager and she told me that the cleaning was never scheduled. I was then told that she could get me back in for a cleaning in another hour. I was not satisfied with this and declined to come back in an hour due to the fact that I was already there for an hour and 20 minutes! The manager then gave me a copy of my x-rays. I then had requested a copy of my husband's prior bill that was paid in full in Feb. of this year. I was given a copy of his x-rays completed in Feb. but was then told by the manager that my husband had to come in personally or write them requesting a copy of the bill paid in Feb. That she could not release his information to me. She apparently had no issues giving me a copy of his x-ray which also should not have been given to me if this was their policy.

So much for Bright Now Dental and their privacy policy!!! Now, I actually have to make another appointment obviously somewhere else to actually get my teeth cleaned!

I went in for a tooth ache and was told that due to bone loss, they would have to pull the tooth. I said no because it is one of my front teeth and it would look bad if I did let them pull it. The dentist assured me that they could make a thing called a flipper for social situations. I finally agreed and they pulled the tooth and put this flipper thing in. At first I could not really tell if anything was wrong because my gums were swollen from having the tooth pulled. By the time I went back a week later to have a recheck, the swelling had gone down and the flipper was too loose causing me pain in my gums, lip and cheek. It also looked stupid because the tooth was too small and there was a gap above the tooth. There was also a spot where it looks like there is a big wad of bubble gum stuck above the tooth. The dentist said he would have them make a new one.

I went back in around two weeks later and they had the new one which was exactly like the first one except the tooth was a little bigger and they added another tooth to the back. It still looked like there was gum stuck to the top of it and it is still stupid looking. This has caused me a lot of issues. He told me it was for social situations but it is so ugly looking that I do not smile or laugh in public because it is embarrassing. I work as a customer service rep and do not feel comfortable because people will notice it. It is depressing and all I do is cry because of this. I also took my daughter in to have her braces done there. I took her in and they did an exam and worked up a quote for us. I set up another appointment to get them put on and took a day off work. Also paid in full for this to be done.

While we were sitting in the lobby waiting for them to take her back and have them done, they came to me and asked if she had been to her regular dentist for a checkup and cleaning and I told them no, that I did not know she had to have a form filled out by her dentist. They said that they could do the checkup and cleaning for an extra $29 so I said that was fine and they told me that they would not be able to do the braces that day even with the exam. I would have to come back and do them another day. I told them that I could not do that because I took the day off work which costs me a lot of money and I am a single mom that cannot afford to take time off work. They said that there was nothing they could do about it. So basically I got screwed over by Bright Now Dental twice with my missing tooth and my loss of wages. I am very unhappy with them and would never recommend any one go there.

I did not get seen until 9:30am. When my exam was done, I was told I would have to come back the next for a cleaning. I have never had to come back for a routine cleaning with any other dentist (as most dentists reasonably assume if you are there for a six month exam, you also will need a cleaning), but I figured it was because they were running so late. I came back the next day and had to wait 45 minutes past my scheduled appointment to get my cleaning done.

While very annoyed at all the waiting, they at least did a great job cleaning my teeth, so when it was time for another checkup I called them this week to get an appointment. I was told I could only schedule an exam, not an exam and cleaning, but I made a 10am appointment anyway. Remembering my experience from last time, I resolved to leave if I had to wait more than 30 minutes past my appointment time. Sure enough, I waited over 35 minutes and saw that there were patients that came in after me being called in before me. At that point, I told them to cancel my appointment and walked out. This office has no respect for the patient's time at all.

I went to my appointment and was taken to the back by the assistant so she could start the X-rays. I asked her what the dentist's name was that was going to be cleaning my teeth. She gave me her name, but said she will only be here another week because she is quitting to become a dentist teacher. I asked the gal, "Why would she quit a dentist job to become a teacher?" She said, "This is a corp. office and you have to make their quota every month and becoming a teacher, she would have a steady paycheck".

The gal started X-rays and 15 minutes after, the dentist walked in to check out my X-rays. Mind you, all I wanted was a cleaning like I always get. After looking at my bottom teeth, she asked if I had ever been hit in the mouth or had a car accident. I said, "No, I haven't had either." She looked at some other teeth and said, "You have a couple of teeth that have a small amount of plaque between them below the gums." She then began to measure my gum line like all dentists do (I'm 54 yrs old) and she said, "If your gum line measures more than a 3, we have to do a different type of cleaning." She said that I have no cavities, but "most of your teeth measure out between 5-6," and that I will probably lose my bottom teeth.

I said, "Are you ** high?"... I have never been told that line of bull and my teeth don't bleed, are not loose and don't hurt when I eat ice or cold foods. She said that I'm a candidate for a deep cleaning and that she would not be able to do a normal cleaning and that I would need to schedule a 2-session deep cleaning. I told her, "I don't have $867 to do this scam cleaning and I will make sure to write the corporate office and any other forum of what you are doing." So, if you get a $29 special in the mail, avoid it like the plague. It's a scam to get you in the door so they can deny you a cleaning for something way more expensive. This dentist knew I didn't have dental ins., but wanted me to get on their payment plan. Lol, no wonder she is changing jobs!

She stated the spelling was wrong; however, the children have the same last name. So they finally called one child back after waiting thirty minutes past the scheduled time! While I waited with the other child, ten people must have come and gone, including one that did not even have an appointment. My child was finished at 11:15 from our 10:00 appointment, and had a list of procedures and prices.

I then asked why my other child nor myself had been seen. The girl looked at me and said, "Well, one appointment is 11:30 and the other is 1:00." WTF? Should someone have told us this? I did, however, specifically requested the appointments to be together. So long story short, we wasted a day for nothing!!! Rude receptionist that just did not care, not even an apology! March statement - $0 balance. May statement - $379 payment required. I called my local office in Corona, CA and they were puzzled about the charge. They promised to call me back. That was three weeks ago. They never did. I wrote on my May statement the question, "What is this charge for? Please provide details" and mailed it to Bright Now. I just got another statement today saying that apparently, I forgot to include payment. Please do so immediately. They didn't even bother to read my request or worse, they ignored my request.

So I am wondering, in another six months will they be sending me another bill for hundreds of dollars with NO EXPLANATION??? So I just called the Corona, CA office again. They took my name and number and said they will call me back. I'm not holding my breath!

I had to actually go into the office to make the appointment. They blamed it on being busy. 2. They messed up a filling and made me come back to fix it. Two weeks later, it STILL hurts. When I called to make another appointment, they wanted me to wait over a week to come in!

    3. They grossly overcharged me. Their contract with the insurance company maxes out what they can charge me at $300 - yet they charged me over $900!!! And they billed the insurance company for services they didn't even provide! 4. The dental hygienist and her assistant were bad-mouthing the dentist DURING my fillings. Today, May 15, 2013, I went to a Bright Now for their $29 cleaning, exam, X-rays, and therapeutic rinse (which I think is just a cleaning). First, let me say my complaint is not an accusation of wrongdoing specific to Bright Now, rather a complaint about a tricky business plan used by many businesses to sell you more than you need in the form of overkill. I call it Bait then Add.

Let's analyze this using my example at Bright Now. All I want was a basic exam and cleaning, $29 as advertised. The first thing they do is run a battery of X-rays, then do a basic exam checking for the depth of tooth pockets followed by a dentist checking for cavities. It's interesting to me that all my tooth pockets are 2-3 mm but the last two checked were 4-5 mm. At this point, they can easily claim a periodontal disease and from the fine print can omit the cleaning.

Everyone has periodontal disease to some degree since a mouth is a very dirty place full of bacteria. I find it suspicious that the last tooth was 5 mm as they claim, further watching and listening to their communication chatter. It appears they do not allow sufficient time for a hygienist to do a cleaning. I believe they had no intention at anytime to do a cleaning and were looking for an excuse to upsell an overkill, but still good, treatment.

Next a treatment plan is presented for $761 but discounted to $292, 10 times what I expected to pay at the start. This discount is also tricky, since it is an arbitrary high amount which is then arbitrarily lowered to dazzle the simple-minded. This is where you have to be smart enough to see through this tricky business plan, be knowledgeable enough about your true condition, which is very hard to do, so that you can find the strength, which many people don't have, to just say no to up selling.

There you have an example of Bait then Add which is used against unwary, simple-minded consumers every day at millions of businesses around the world.

I had a new crown built and placed per the dentist’s recommendation (Dr. **) on a molar that was cracked. The new crown did not fit properly, and I informed the dentist on a return visit (2 weeks after crown placement). I informed him that there was too much space between the teeth and an inordinate amount of food, especially meat, was getting trapped between the teeth. He advised that the crown fit properly and my gums would eventually move back up the tooth and prevent the inordinate amount of food from getting in between the teeth. He advised to wait six months for the gums to repair and heal and return if I had any problems. I returned in 6 months as the problem did not resolve, and excessive amounts of food were still getting trapped.

The problem is that Dr. ** had moved on. A new dentist was in this corporate office, and he would not honor fixing the ill fitting crown. He advised that he didn't place the crown, and it was not his responsibility to replace the crown for no charge. I would have to pay for a completely new crown. Needless to say, I will not ever use Bright Now Dental ever again.

A dental appointment that should have only taken a couple of hours ended up taking 5 hours. First of all, my appointment was supposed to be at 12:30pm. I even paid extra for laughing gas and it didn't work much at all. Because the dentist was having such a hard time with the root canal, he wanted to stop in midstream and finish the tooth on another day. How insensitive, when I was already in pain. So I insisted that he finish his work on that day.

At the end of his services, he told me that his office would not be able to work on my teeth again because they were problematic. He told me to find a dentist that could put me to sleep during my procedures and have my work done. Hmmm, I am not rich and how insulting! All this dentist needed to say was that he did not feel comfortable working in my mouth and I would be glad to go to another facility! Lastly, I just found out that this facility did not even make impressions for my new crown! It is now 3.5 days later (Thursday morning). The temporary crown that they put on my molar on Saturday. It is now Wednesday and the temporary crown is almost non-existent. This is really shabby work!

I explained to the office manager what had occurred, but she was unconcerned and questioned my honesty, very poor customer service.

On 3rd appointment, I was 10 minutes early, had to wait 1 1/2 hours again. I had 4 crowns redone. They put temps on. I had to wait over 3 weeks to receive the perm crowns because they use a lab located in Florida! While waiting for the perm crowns to arrive, my temp crowns kept falling out. I had to go in 2 times to get the temp crowns re-cemented.

When the perm crowns arrived after 3 weeks, one of them was the wrong color and did not match the surrounding teeth. They had to reorder the perm crown. I asked for them to request a rush from the lab; however, they said no. I had to wait over 3 weeks to receive the new perm crown which this time was the correct color. However, while waiting 3 weeks, the temp came out again and I had to have it re-cemented again! Bright Now Dental Lancaster, California acted as if they don't care about the extremely long wait times for patients or the fact that they use a lab on the opposite coast in Florida which is slow, slow, slow. They told me I needed two wisdom teeth extracted. I called 5 days in a row trying to make an appointment. All I kept getting was an answering machine. I left detailed messages containing my full name, phone number and what I wanted to make an appointment for. I never received one single call back.

Finally, on the 5th day, they answered their phone and I was able to make an appointment. I believe Corporate has all the offices overbooking which results in extended wait times for the patients. They also demanded one half payment upfront on a $1,200 dental bill. Who can afford to pay $600 at one visit? I had to argue with the office manager and billing girl, but was able to make $200 payments, twice a month until paid in full. In my humble opinion, they treat the patient like a sub-human being, overbook appointments and then make you wait for up to two hours, and then demand half of your estimated bill upfront. Their corporate headquarters needs to start receiving complaints from all their patients or things will never change.

This is regarding the Bright Now Dental in La Quinta, CA. We moved to CA from Utah during the middle of my daughter’s braces treatment, July 2011. We used Bright Now Dental to continue the treatment once we got to CA. We worked out costs with the financial manager in the office, and had an agreement that we would pay a specific amount, around $1,000.00 and the remaining $1,000 would be paid by insurance. So, we paid our share over the time span of about 5 months. During those 5 months, we kept asking what the insurance company has covered so we can pay any remaining balance. The finance manager said she hasn't heard anything from the insurance company, and said she would inquire. The next visit (my daughter went every month), I asked again, and still no answers. The next visit, same thing again.

All during this time, I’m making minimum payments on the portion I was asked to pay. The next visit, I asked again, and she said she would contact the "guy" that submits bills to the insurance. Once again, there was no answer. The "guy" didn't answer his phone or return an email. I called back in a week to follow up and she tried to get a hold of the "insurance billing guy”, his number was disconnected, and the email wouldn't go through. So, she then tells me she will bill the insurance company herself. The next visit for my daughter, I inquired again. The answer from our insurance company she says, "I haven’t heard anything yet". So, once again, I have no answer.

Finally in December, I was asked to pay $700 to catch up since the insurance company hasn't paid anything yet. So, we pay the $700 and again waited to hear from insurance company. Well, her treatment was over, and still nothing was determined. And then I heard the manager lady handling my account got fired. The new lady said she would handle it, that the other lady didn't know what she was doing. Was it solved yet? No. In the meantime, I’m getting collection calls from Newport Dental (the office who send out the bills) saying we are behind on payments. I told them no one has given us an answer on billing our insurance, and that we were told by the Bright Now office not to pay anymore until they get an answer.

Well, April rolls around and we are moving back to Utah, and my daughter’s treatment was done. Well, I didn't want to move without paying what we owe, so I go into the office once again and still, no one knew anything. So, I call my insurance company myself, and get this! No one even submitted a claim! What the heck is wrong with this company? So, here we are in Utah, still trying to figure all this out, and what happens? Bright Now Dental sent our balance due to a ** collection agency. We called the Bright Now Dental office, and the "new" finance manager lady says "I submitted your bill to the insurance, but haven’t heard anything back." She then says, "Your insurance is Delta Dental right?" No, it’s MetLife! We told them Met Life from the beginning.

So, then the collection agency said they would submit the bill for us to MetLife, only to receive the answer that they denied our claim. And why did they deny it?! Because the date of service was too long ago! Are you freaking kidding me? So, needless to say, we had to pay $1,097.00 for our balance due, so that our credit report that is over 700 score doesn't get affected. I think I’m going to look into suing. Don’t do service with this company. They are crooked, uneducated and very unprofessional.

On February 14, 2012, I went into Bright Now Dental in Corona, CA because a crown that was previously made from their office had fallen off. Since it had passed the 1-year warranty to fix the crown free of charge, it was not covered by that, nor was it covered by Delta Dental because my insurance only covers one crown for a tooth every 5 years, which I understood and complied with. The manager responsible for finances came out and told me that it would cost $800 out of pocket to redo the crown, but if I do it on that day, they would only charge me $700. They did the procedure and ordered the crown. After this night, I paid my dues of $700 for the crown with my debit card. They said that was all I would be billed for and had no remaining balance.

Half a year later, on August 15, I received a letter from the same dental office billing me for $282.00. I called to find out why I was being charged, and the person on the phone pulled up my records and did not know why either. So, she told me that they would get back to me in 5 days because the manager in charge of these matters was currently on vacation. I never received a call back from them, and a few days later, I received another bill that stated I was now being charged a late fee, adding up to a past due balance of $296.10.

They have sent my account information to the Collection Department of Bright Now Dental as of September 4, 2012. According to the Collection Department, I was being billed for a treatment that was done on February 14, 2012, for which I had already paid the amount that the dentist and the office manager said I would be responsible for. They did not notify me of any accruing balance on my account until I received the first bill in August, nor were they able to inform me what I was being billed for.

Yesterday, September 10, 2012, I called Bright Now Dental in Corona to inquire about the account balance, and she still could not give me an answer as to why I was being billed and that she would give me a call within 5 days. I heard the same thing more than enough times from their office, so I decided to visit their office. I waited 30 minutes because the front desk assistant said somebody would talk to me about my bill in a few moments, only to hear after waiting that long that they are actually too busy to accommodate me and that they will give me a call within 5 days.

I obtained a copy of our dental benefits statement from June 7, 2012. Bright Now Dental submitted a claim for a porcelain crown for $1,254. Delta Dental accepted a fee of $937.00 because that was the maximum contract allowance; however, because the crown had a limitation of 5 years for the same tooth, Delta Dental did not cover any of the fees. While I was aware that my insurance denied the fee to cover the reparation of my crown because of the limitation, I was not aware of the amount that Bright Now Dental sent as a claim to Delta Dental, leading me to be unaware of any past due payments since I was promised that I would only be responsible for $700. Bright Now Dental is now charging me more than the amount I was aware of and given knowledge to. Bright Now Dental has violated my patient's right to affordability as well as my right to full disclosure, because I am being charged in excess of the amount determined by the dentist (Harris **) and the office manager, which was the $700 that I paid for my crown on February 14, 2012.

I had been also having pain above my tooth in my jaw and my ear. I told the specialist this and he said I still had to reschedule for a root canal. They scheduled me for a bank of 14 x-rays, followed by a second appointment for a cleaning, and a third for the filling. Before leaving the office after the consultation, I was given a sheet of paper with figures indicating the cost of these procedures. The x-ray appointment was fine, as was the cleaning, however, the filling appointment was re-scheduled. The actual time spent with the doctor during the filling appointment was three minutes and 45 seconds. (The doctor was efficient and I felt comfortable with his work.)

As I was leaving the office, assuming that I'd be billed for their services, I was told that payment was required upon completion of service; they did not send invoices. Originally, I had not been instructed that their work was cash only, and asked to be sent an invoice. I was told that they didn't do business that way, and didn't want to set up an account just for me. After some tense moments they agreed, however, I did not appreciate the tone of the conversation.

My total bill came to $252.00 for the filling and everything else was covered by my insurance. However, I don't believe that three minutes forty five seconds with a dentist is worth $252.00. Why did they have to take 14 X-rays? I would guess my insurance company paid for them, but I surely didn't need them. None of the documentation I filled out indicated cash only. There are no signs in their office indicating cash upon completion of procedures. I believe this scenario is a prime example of what is wrong with our medical system.

Today, I was scheduled for a 2:40 appointment. I was on time and had not been informed that the dentist had an emergency. My daughter with special needs was prepped to get her teeth filled. She was numbed and left in the chair for 30 minutes before I went to check on her. At that time, the assistant stated she was waiting on the sedation to take effect. I went back to the lobby and returned 15 minutes later. It was now 3:30 and the dentist still had not started service. I asked the receptionist if the doctor was running behind because my daughter had been waiting for 1 hour. I was then told the dentist had an emergency patient he was with. I would be next. Another 15 minutes went by. No one came to check on my daughter, so I stayed in the room.

It is now 3:55. After I started complaining and inquiring about whether the dentist was in or out of the building, he came out and apologized but asked if I could wait another 30 minutes. I said no, I couldn't and that I was putting in a complaint. I left totally upset and my daughter did not get her fillings. This was the most unprofessional/inconsiderate experience I ever had to deal with. I told the receptionist that I didn't appreciate not being given the option to decide whether I wanted to reschedule or not. I am appalled that my daughter was put in a situation like this when she needs much more gentle attention. I do not plan to return to this office and will be making a report to my insurance company.

I hate to go to the dentist. So my last visit was three years ago. I went to Bright Now Dental at xxxxx *** Pkwy after a friend's recommendation. Not only did they not clean anything but after two wasted hours of x-rays and examinations, they gave me a quotation of 'deep cleaning' sessions of over $4000. My out of pocket expense would be $600-$800. They tried to pressure me and say that there was a time limit on the offer and they can only waive the copay until the end of the year. I went the next day to my friend who was a dentist and did another examination there. Originally, I felt weird having a friend look into my mouth but I'm glad I did.

He said often times he gets patients with ridiculous quotations from dentists who are clearly trying to take advantage and prey on patients who would rather take their word than to visit another dentist. My friend dentist told me that I did need a couple of repeat sessions of cleaning and fix minor cavities but all of it would be covered by insurance and there was nothing extraordinary that had to be done. Most times he said the $4000 quotations should rarely happen for just cleaning and maintenance unless implants or braces are needed. Buyer beware folks!

My daughter was a patient of Bright Now Dental. We set up for a deep cleaning and replacement of a front tooth which was dead. After 3 appointments for the deep cleaning they performed on the front tooth crown once in place; my daughter complained that the new tooth was much too large and looked awkward. The staff assured her it was fine and she just wasn’t used to it and ignored her complaints. After this unsatisfactory work I requested a change in insurance and took her to another dentist. According to them a cleaning had not been performed. Three fillings had been done over decay and the front tooth crown needed to be replaced. I had contacted the district manager for the Hemet location.

I said I was very upset and I had contacted my insurance. I am now paying an additional $760 to repair the substandard work and still don’t have the funds to replace the front tooth crown. Leeam the manager stated he would refund $300. I agreed since something is better than nothing. Since the phone call to the manger, he has been contacted by my insurance regarding my grievance and now has chosen to no longer give me the refund. I feel as a consumer I have the right to contact my insurance. I didn’t know I was accepting hush money! I am currently out $760 for repairs of Bright Now Dental’s work and can’t even come up with the $1500 they want to repair the front tooth crown. I feel so ripped off by this company!

I have a severe vertical dementia; spits food and the upper lip is tucking under the lower bottom lip affecting my speech. I went to another dentist for help and he had to send me to a prosthodontist. Please help, it will cost me out of my pocket at the least $25,000.00-$40,000.00. I have absolutely no complaint with Bright Now, just Dr. Crim who has literally ruined my mouth, my face and five years of lost work using an ancient "jig" for 45 minutes at a time to knock each loose bridge out. I lost teeth, infections, oral surgery (out of my pocket) all over an upper bridge that he has no idea how to correct. He was disciplined and fined in 2002. He also lost one of his eyes during the whole time that he worked on my teeth, which I am not aware if the company or Cigna knows about, due to a Bausch & Lomb Lawsuit.

They needed to make sure of what my insurance would pay. The office manager said they would. That was her job. Dr. Jain is the most rude and unforgivable dentist I have met. I am on SSDI, and I told him that I couldn't afford his dental plan. I wanted dentures. I had an infected tooth, he wanted $1291 to fix it, or $45 to pull it. While I was getting my tooth pulled, Dr. Jain barged into the office where I was and was ranting that he would not approve me having dentures. He wanted me to sign a statement that he would not approve it and that I needed full dental treatment. I spoke about this with the office manager, and she suggested that we cancel all treatments, and I will owe nothing. She was the only one that had any compassion for patients. I changed dentists, and six months later, they started to hound me for collections of $575. It was for an impression that Dr. Jain had disapproved! As far as I'm concerned, he owes his own company for being rude, inconsiderate of people's needs, and financial ability. Because of him, I would never use Bright Now Dental ever again. I have a dentist now that has considered my wishes, and finances. I would never leave him, ever.

I am writing to inform you of the horrific treatment my mother received while under the care of Dr. James ** who specializes in oral surgery with Bright Now! Dental, 3626 Highlands Ranch Parkway, Suite 107, Highlands Ranch, CO.

Marian **, my mother, was supposed to have three teeth pulled on the morning of July 13, 2011. Marian is 81 years of age, suffered two heart attacks, and underwent several joint replacements. According to staff members working in this office at the time, Dr. ** was 2 hours behind schedule, and therefore rushed Marian's procedure. After administering the anesthetic, which was painful for Marian (the needle was bent when Dr. ** withdrew it), I was told they needed to wait 15 minutes for the anesthetic to take effect. No more than five minutes later, Dr. Berwick began the surgery.

Throughout the procedure, Marian trembled and screamed from pain, yet Dr. ** did not stop. Instead, he ignored her cries and rushed forth to finish, clearly without thought of his patient's comfort and well-being. After leaving the room, Dr. ** told me, "Well, it's out!" showing only his haste to get through his agenda. Afterwards, he neglected to return to check up on Marian.

When I returned to her room, my mother was extremely pale, crying and shaking uncontrollably. There were two assistants holding her and trying to comfort her. After some time, she was able to calm down and we left the building. Fortunately, Marian had just one tooth pulled rather than the three that were intended. I simply shudder to even think what the physical and psychological effects of pulling more than one tooth would have been.

After we returned home, my brother Mark, a licensed psychologist, called the office to complain about the treatment Marian received. He simply told that less medication is used on elderly patients and that the office was abnormally rushed due to time constraints.

My mother was restrained and calm in her response to pain. She had several teeth pulled in the past, but never reacted as she did that day with such immense pain.

In this day and age, a patient suffering this kind of pain and trauma—mentally and physically—is uncalled for. This was an outright abuse, especially considering Marian's age. That night she had nightmares about the visit and was still shaking a day after the ordeal. Neither Mark nor I can understand how a caregiver can operate with such limited empathy and lax standards, or how nothing was done to assist Marian with the pain she suffered.

I believe that while dental procedures can at times be uncomfortable, to force an 81-year-old woman to endure such outrageous pain and mistreatment is both cruel and unprofessional. I feel it is absolutely necessary to submit this letter to the governing board regulating dentistry in our area in the hopes of some form of corrective action. It is also my intent to present this issue to Bright Now! Dental, Dr. **, Secure Horizons (provider of AARP Medicare Complete), and the Better Business Bureau. Your time is greatly appreciated, and I hope to receive a response regarding this incident.

I went in for my regular 6 month cleaning and check up a couple of weeks ago. I was told that I was due for my "gum prodding." The technician poked around all of my gums with a sharp instrument, saying the numbers 3 or 4 when she poked. When she finished, I was told that I had gingivitis and that the infection was spreading in my mouth and I needed to have a deep cleaning done to clean out all of the bacteria. I have not had any problems with my teeth or gums, but I took her word for it and very reluctantly scheduled an appointment for 2 weeks out, today, to get a deep cleaning.

I was given an estimate ahead of time that this "special" cleaning would cost me almost $700 out of pocket (after insurance). A normal cleaning only costs me $18 after insurance. I was told they would do all of this "extra" stuff: numbing my gums and cleaning underneath them, flushing out all of the bacteria, etc. They insisted that I needed this treatment and that my "gum disease" would get worse and worse if I didn't do it.

Skip to today, I just returned home from having my "deep cleaning" done. They used a sharp metal instrument with antibacterial spray coming out of it to go around my gum line. I was not numbed up. After this, I expected more intensive, deep cleaning treatment. Not so. She then proceeded to scrape my teeth with the sharp metal instrument to remove plaque build-up like they always do at cleanings, followed by a very mediocre polishing job, and then a basic floss. I was done. I was led to the front desk where I was told my total was $812. (I also had a filling done, which accounted for $135).

I told her I was extremely disappointed with what I had just received for my treatment for that kind of money. The receptionist just looked at me. I told her that other than the anti-bacterial spray at the forefront of the cleaning, it was exactly like any other cleaning I had ever received. She balked at me, and she .tried to say that the hygienist had done more "extensive scaling under the gum line." I disagree. It felt exactly like every other cleaning I have ever had, with the exception of the antibacterial rinse. For $660. She just said, "Well, I wasn't in your mouth, so I don't know."

I proceeded to tell her I thought this was a huge racket, and I didn't understand what I was paying so much for. She said nothing. I then told her that I would tell everyone I know not to ever come to Bright Now Dental and certainly not to ever have this extensive cleaning done. She completely ignored me. I have never felt so ripped off and scammed in my entire life, and I feel physically sick to my stomach that I just paid almost $700 for a glorified cleaning. I will never go back to Bright Now Dental, and I will discourage everyone I know from going there either.

I should have known better. I received a flyer in the mail with discount coupons for exam, x-rays, and cleaning. I had recently moved to the area and my six month cleaning was due, so I set up an appointment. The first thing I thought was strange is that on the forms you fill out before being seen, they asked for personal references and also names of other friends or relatives who might need their services. Thankfully, I left these areas blank.

I had the x-rays done although the equipment was an antique and the lead apron was, I felt, too small. I tucked in as best I could. As she began taking x-ray after x-ray, I asked how many they needed. She replied 18! It seems she took even more than that. I told her I had never had so many taken before. I am 58 and have had them taken at least every two years or so for life.

Then, the x-ray person set me down in a dental chair (also very old) to wait on the dentist and told me that I would have an exam and then the office manager would call me about what treatments I would be needing(?) before they would be cleaning my teeth and that I would not get them cleaned that day. I said, "What? I just came for my regular cleaning."

I do take extremely good care of my teeth, get them cleaned at least twice a year, if not more, always brushing, floss at least once a day, also never have drank a drop of coffee in my life, very rarely tea, never smoked, don't drink, etc. I even still have two very firm baby teeth. I went out to talk to the receptionist and told her how I had made the appointment for cleaning and she had confirmed that on the phone a few days before. She said maybe it wasn't her, that she had been there only two weeks but I knew it was her voice.

She went to talk with the dentist who she said told her there would be no charge for the x-rays as long as I did not stay for the exam. I said I would stay if I could get the cleaning done then, as expected, but they could not get that because apparently, there are two (2) types of cleaning - regular and ??. I'm betting no matter how good of care you give your teeth, most people get the ?? one, so I declined and left.

That was yesterday afternoon. This afternoon, the office manager called me and exclaimed that I had run out without paying for my s-rays. She told me there was a "misunderstanding" about that, that the receptionist and dentist were wrong. I asked her if she had spoken with the dentist and she avoided answering the question by attacking me. I asked her how much the x-rays were going to cost and she kept talking over that. Finally, I told her that if I had to pay for them I owned them and she went into some spiel about how the originals by law had to stay there which is not true but they would have copies for me when I came to pay. I feel like getting a sheriff to go with me. I am going to check to see if I can find help anywhere.

I changed my insurance to a Dental HMO, so I had limited choices of who I could go to. Bright Now Dental was near my office, so I figured what the heck. I have gone to the dentist every 6 months for 20 years and have never had a cavity or any other problem. I went to my appointment assuming I would get my cleaning and be on my way. The assistant did a "gum test" of some sort on me and determined that I needed a special deep cleaning. The dentist then came to examine me and said I had 6 cavities that need to be filled. Needless to say, I was shocked. I had never had an issue with my teeth in my life. Additionally, all this work was going to cost me $1500 after insurance.

I decided to pay out of pocket for a second opinion. I went to another dentist that came highly recommended to me from a friend. I received copies of my x-rays that were taken at Bright Now and brought them to the second dentist. He looked at my mouth and the x-rays. He couldn't find one cavity and said he thought my teeth were easier to clean than his. Needless to say, I went ahead and paid for him to clean my teeth.

Like I said, if I had had any dental issues in my life, Bright Now Dental might have pulled one over on me. However, I knew my history and knew that the likelihood of 6 cavities popping up out of nowhere was highly unlikely. With that, it was worth it for me to pay the money to have a second opinion. I think this needs to be brought to everyone's attention as some people may not think or cannot afford to get a second opinion. If I had listened to them, I would have spent $1500 on unnecessary work. Because I got a second opinion, I was able to avoid that cost. I did, however, have to pay $200 out of pocket for the out of network dental visit and cleaning.
