I am writing concerning a complaint about one of your customer representatives, CLAUDIA. I called 5/13/26@ 9:15 am. I have been a member for years and love Discover and have ALWAYS had wonderful service except for today. CLAUDIA was very SHORT, RUDE and very unprofessional. It is evident she does not like her job!!!!! She got VERY IRRITATED when I asked a few questions. These type of incidences with reps are what drive customers away!!!!!

Just minutes ago at circa 10: 15 A.M. PST I phoned 800 347-2683. The purpose? To obtain a Re: Re: Aiming to obtain easily money from one's extant cash back balance. Today, 5-9-26, I phoned customer service and first I asked that a check in that amount be posted to me (at my mailing address of record). After being put on hold for several minutes, I was told Discover "no longer does that." Even though previously when I had a Capital One (which bought Discover earlier) credit card account I was mailed a check for cash back monies owed to me.

Second, I then requested that the sum in question be deposited /wired to my U.S. Bank checking account, the same account I've repeatedly and solely used to send payment due checks to Discover. No, I was told. Instead, first I'd have to set up an online Discover account. Something I've never been interested in doing, for multiple reasons. Which is why, and despite Discover's now prior multiple email attempts to prod me to open such an online account, and, e.g., thereafter obtain online statements, make payments online, etc., nonetheless I've persisted to conduct all such business by mail. So again, no thanks.

Third, I then asked about being mailed a cash card for the above cited cash back award amount , which of course, e.g., can be used to make purchases at the grocery store. No again, I was told. Instead the only option is to request a gift card, e.g., for some restaurant. A resolute no thanks again. Great customer service by Discover-NOT! Clearly, Discover, by its notably unaccommodating posture, does not want me to remain an account holder. So be it.

I fell behind on my payments and discover offered me three options to get my payments back on track, but if none of them worked for me, they gave me the option to reach out to customer service via messaging to see what other options they had. I unfortunately was connected to Robert, who never offered me any payment plans.

He told me there was none available, even though I literally saw three of them before I connected to the chat. Then, he was more concerned with updating my contact information than making an unhappy customer happy again after his interaction or addressing my comment about how he was unhelpful by denying me a payment plan that I knew was available to me. Then, he updated my contact information even though I told him he didn't have the correct one. The money they make off of the interest of my credit card, I should at least get subpar customer service, not trash.

For disputes, they favor in side with the merchant and not their loyal customer. They told me that as long as the company has a “no refund” policy, they can’t do anything to help me with a dispute because they have to follow the merchant's policy. Even if the product is not what I ordered and they scammed me out of money. So much for them protecting me against scams. I will never use Discover again and I just lost out on a lot of money because of their lack of customer protection.

I just signed up for the Discover card 4 months ago. The billing cycle is exhausting. The billing statement and the payment date are 4 weeks apart. So I pay my bill and get another bill 3 days later! This results in always having a full month of charges on my card balance at all times. That results in basically having half of my credit limit always used. I cannot pay the full account balance with auto pay and I cannot pay the Statement balance the day of the statement.

The only reason I can imagine why Discover would want that is to ensure there is always a hefty balance if something didn't get paid correctly, or to post charges a month later than usual to reduce refund obligations because they were submitted too late. Just to give an example. I had $2k in charges. Paid my statement in full, and had $1k in charges still on my balance. I feel I am dealing with scam artists. Going back to my old card and looking for another new one. Never had trouble paying a card to $0 before. Why would they want to keep that on the books?

Customer since 2011. I had an offer for zero interest on a balance transfer, which I used and stupidly did not finish paying it off before the offer expired, which in turn cued up a 28% interest rate. I paid the balance off and noticed I had a small amount of rewards to cash in, so I chose the cash deposit to my bank account option.

    The website kept telling me:

"No Bank Account Available. Electronic deposit into your bank account is currently unavailable for your account. Please choose another redemption option."

The first agent was nice and told me what to do (link my bank account, which I did) but days later, I was still getting the same error message. The second agent was so unhelpful and ridiculous. She told me that she could not tell me how to set up the direct deposit of the rewards because "it's a security issue." She couldn't even tell me where to go on the website to add my bank account, or if I had done something incorrectly. And that was that- no other offer to help, no concern, she just tried to get off the chat as fast as possible. How on earth is telling a customer how to use your website a security issue?

So at that point, I was done and asked for the account to be closed. Then this nutjob agent tries to upsell me on some "offer" to get me to stay. When all I ever asked for is for help navigating their stupid website. After having to tell her multiple times to please close the account, she finally did and then immediately left the chat. Now I am anxiously looking for a confirmation email from them to have proof that the account is indeed closed, since I've read several horror stories on here about charges after the fact. I would not recommend using Discover, and I myself will not be a customer of theirs ever again.

DISCOVER has been absolutely worthless in helping us in our struggle against fraud charges. In April 2025, we paid in full our monthly statement. Then in June 2025, we were recharged over four thousand dollars for a trip booked through a co-booking agent. For over five months we were told, yes you have been double charged but DISCOVER does not have a fraud department. From October 2025 until April 2026, they have reviewed our case. Not once were we informed of the outcome.

Yesterday, April 16, 2026, two representatives agreed we had been scammed on the charges, and that we had paid in full all of the charges. Great. But they added, "We do not deal with scams. Only fraud." Well, according to good old Mr. Webster, the definition of a scam is "a fraudulent, dishonest or deceptive scheme to trick people out of money." So, DISCOVER, change your script, and just be honest, you do not want to protect your customers from fraud, you just want your money. Shame on you!

We have had a very bad experience accepting Discover card payments. The level of fraud and dispute handling is extremely concerning. Most of our transactions are low value (around $10), but when a dispute is raised, we are charged additional fees of around $15. If we win the dispute, the amount comes back, but if we lose, we lose the original payment plus extra charges. This makes small transactions completely unprofitable. What is worse is that many disputes are marked as “fraudulent” by customers, and even after submitting proper evidence, the decision is often in favor of the cardholder. This encourages misuse and creates a high-risk environment for merchants.

It is also unclear why Discover is charging these additional fees. The process feels unfair and heavily biased against merchants. Due to the increasing fraud and financial losses, we strongly recommend merchants reconsider accepting Discover payments. In our case, it is becoming necessary to completely disable Discover as a payment option.

So I called customer service, and explained that we never receive the previous bill in the mail and asked as a courtesy if they waiver the late fee? They said we didn't have any credits to apply the request waiver. Then I asked why didn't we have credits? She didn't know. I then spoke to a supervisor and his response was the same. I found that very strange. We then decided to close the account because we felt they did not appreciate us as a customer after 33 years of never having an late fee applied to my account. Discover has zero grace for long-time customers, prioritizing interest and fees over satisfaction. A quick exit was the only logical choice. Good riddance!
